My dad is going through grandmas old photos that she swore one day she'd organize but never did, and he tells me that hes only keeping 'the important ones.'
"The picture of me n' John n' tim n' michael. And your grandpa and the like. I'm not keeping pictures of cats or the ones of where Grandpa saw a buffalo once."
And listen I am rarely mad at my dad because hes got the best of intentions but...
When I was hlgoing through my other grandmas photos in 2021, I kept EVERY picture of a cat or dog and do you want to know why?
It was 1918, cameras were a luxury to have, film was expensive to develop, and you didnt want to waste film on something pointless and they
STILL
Took pictures of their pets.
"I have a cat. Please let me show you my cat" is a human quality that transcends generations. Before photos, we painted portraits of our companion animals on various surfaces and we will continue to do this til the end of time.
Great great great aunt Ida wanted you to know she had a fluffy little white cat with little black spots and a little black mustache and I think we should hear her out.

hii... i do not know if you remember me, i have been inactive for so long, but you used to know me as crowne or perhaps cq. i think of you often, your book of poetry sits on my shelf, well read by myself and my husband. i hope you're doing well, i hope we can reconnect, if you so desire and hold no ill will toward me 'ghosting' you; though i hesitate to call it that, as that implies an intentional disappearance. life took me by the throat, i had no say in it, haha. ♥
Hey you, I do remember you.
No worries, I also went.. mildly MIA for a while, let's say. Got myself a condensed dose of diverse horrifying traumatic experiences wrapped up in a neat little two years of nonstop misfortune, grief and death.
So I absolutely get life taking you by the jugular, it really is a thing and I don't hold it against anyone. I hope the bleeding's slowing down now.
Feel free to message me and tell me how you've been, and update me on who you have become.

Look, all I’m saying is that they really just don’t make movies like National Treasure anymore. Like this movie is about two dudes in a van who beat a team of highly trained criminals to stealing a valuable document from a high-security museum, by sheer accident get an antiques expert to come along with them to keep the document safe, get involved in several major chase scenes, escape the FBI twice, find a massive treasure, get someone else arrested for their crimes, and then give the treasure back to museums before yeeting out to do it all over again in the sequel. No one was doing it like them. And the thing is, by all accounts, this plot is ridiculous and the dialogue is ridiculous but it works unbelievably well because the writers and actors committed to the bit. This movie is campy and absurd and it’s also one of the most fun and quotable movies of my early childhood because the creators embraced the camp and did it with such a sincerity that it’s a goshdarn delight to watch. Top all of that off with a soundtrack that went WAY harder than it really needed to, excellent atmosphere throughout the whole film, and visuals that were darn near perfect and National Treasure becomes a classic. I’ve been chasing the high I got the first time I watched it my whole life. What a movie.

hi there, nothing much, just coming on to think about..
coming home late into the afternoon— it’s borderline evening, the setting sun already shining the world in an overlay of a calming orangey-yellow — to kazuha who welcomes your return with a soft smile and arms open wide, just waiting for you to come in between them so they can wrap you in a hug.
you close the door behind you as you lug yourself towards him, slumping into his open arms as soon as you get close enough. kazuha remains silent. usually he’s all chipper with a poem riddled in infatuation and utter admiration already spewing from his mouth, acting like the opening line to your conversation.
neither of you say a word. kazuha’s hands pat you gently, one buried in your hair giving you small rubs to ease away any headaches that lingered from today, and the other on your back, occasionally moving around to massage your stress away. he always does this; it’s relaxing, and it works well to ease away your tension, your stress, and you finally let the tears flow through.
the poet’s clothes get stained with tears, but he doesn’t care.
you stay like that for a little while longer, kazuha holding you tight as you let the stress from the morning leave your body through tears.
once they’ve dried, kazuha wipes your cheeks and presses a soft kiss to your forehead. “want some tea?” he asks, intwining your hands together as he softly leads you to the kitchen, “i’ll steep your favourite. it won’t take long, don’t worry. i’m not leaving your side, dove.”
