do you have any advice for making edits?

experimentation is the key! honestly just open ps and try something new, discover brushes, textures, psd, play around with effects… also looking for tutorials online (on tumblr or youtube) is very helpful when u start using ps and when in doubt look for some inspiration on pinterest i hope this is somehow helpful anon :33
