Anymore you could tell us about Alekos? Im very curious about his story.
*loud inhaling*
I know you’re just humoring me to give me an excuse to talk about him and you now what I will take that excuse thank you so much. Also this is gonna be long, I’m apologizing now
So he wasn’t always my character, someone else originally built him as far as race, class, job, general looks etc. but then decided they weren’t feeling it and left the campaign. The DM is a friend of mine and asked if I’d come take him over cause they know I’m very into dnd. I wasn’t sure how I’d do with a mostly prebuilt character but I was given full range to change and play him however I liked and he’s become one of my top pcs for sure. The at some point during the first game I started using a southern accent for him for some reason and it just stuck, so he became a country booooy. He’s also a true himbo, big of heart and dumb of ass and all that. His backstory was really fun cause me and the dm came up with it together and were able to do one on one sessions where we played out most of these scenes. That was great and helped both of us have a really good grasp on his backstory and the characters and relationships in it, I highly recommend doing it if you’re able.
So as far as backstory, he didn’t use to be a stripper, he had worked and lived on his families farm all his life with his parents and 3 sisters. Some time around his late teens his mother got sick and was bedridden for a long time before finally passing. She was like the core of the family and her death hit them super hard and drove a bit of a wedge between Alekos and his father. He started pushing Alekos to take charge and be the mAn Of ThE hOuSe and work harder and all that-even though his sister was clearly the more responsible and motivated one, and technically older too.
Some time after their mama died they had really bad harvest season and were struggling to sell what little they had grown, so Alekos volunteered to travel to one of the towns across the water to sell what he could.
While he was there the owner of the strip club in town saw him and immediately new he could make bank and offered him a job at her club. The only other stripper there was a dwarf (who’s another party member when the campaign picks up), who wasn’t really bringing in a lot of customers, so Alekos showing up was great for business.
So he started traveling to work there for a few days during the week and was bringing in a lot of money for his family. His dad was really pleased he was finally taking charge and providing, but thought he was just working at a bar or something. One day his dad decided to come visit during his work day as a sort of show of his approval. Of course when he found him stripping he thought he was there partying when his family was at home working on the farm and blew up at him, telling him not to come back home.
Alekos was of course totally crushed and terrifying and couldn’t do much of anything for a good while, the owner of the club really helped him through that time and he’s lived with her at the club ever since. That basically brings us to the start of the campaign: He hasn’t seen his family in a couple years, he’s been living and working at the club and doing alright. And now he’s met the rest of the party and they’re saving people and fighting bad guys and solving mysteries together. He loves his friends so much, they’re like his family now. He hopes to one day see his sisters again but can’t bring himself to face his dad yet. Maybe one day he’ll overcome it and go to them again
That was way more long winded than I intended so,
Tl,dr: He was a farm boy who’s mama died and crops were failing so we went to find work at a strip club. His father found out and told him not to come home.
