🏳️‍🌈 how about V1? my kind of guy :3 (gender neutral)
-🥊
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Admittedly, this is a vast generalization for both of them. I see V1 as not really caring about gender (as has been stated by the devs, the machines really have no need for any of that unless they really want to, and V1 is infinitely more interested in maiming than it is in the nuances of gender. I use it/its for V1 but to my knowledge the devs use he/him as well; maybe V1 likes he/him too just because it remembers one of the technicians using he pronouns for it. There's so little info on V1 that anything goes honestly. I've already drawn it with the trans flag once so this is an excuse to do it again) whereas V2 enjoys human culture due to its peacekeeper role and therefore uses Every Pronoun Ever with no preference.
TL;DR they both probably don't care but in completely opposite ways. (Also I doubt either one of them would use labels)

🏳️‍🌈for john ward?
Tumblr media
I'm still figuring out how to draw him since I've only drawn him once as a semi-silhouette. I'm pretty sure the developer himself confirmed that John Ward is bi, but either way I see him as a pathetic bi priest haunted by visions. Also here's the version without scanlines:

30 & 1 for pride asks! Only if you're comfortable ofc <3
1.Which labels do you use?
Bisexual and transgender (maybe also asexual but still figuring out if it's actually a lack of sexual attraction or just really bad bottom dysphoria getting in the way)
30. Are you monogamous or polyamorous?
Monogamous. Shout out to people with more than one partner but juggling multiple platonic friendships is hard enough, let alone romantic and/or sexual relationships haha
Thanks for the ask :)

If any of the non-Pride ROs have kids with their MC, I think Pride would be a very doting grandpa.
Non-Prids RO: So, my MC is expecting.
Non-Pride RO: Father, can I trust you to not go overbord with your reaction?
Pride, vibrating with excitement: I don't know what you're talking about.
Father Pride would be the ULTIMATE DOTING GRANDPA. Grandfather Pride, if you will!
Gifts? Every day. "I saw this toy and thought of my grandchild, so I had to buy it for them."
Picking them up from school? Please let him do it. Please. He would probably visit SO FREQUENTLY he would need to be asked to stop.
Oh, need someone to take care of the kid for a while? No worries, Grandfather Pride reporting in. "You are just going to the grocery store? Nonsense! Why don't you two take the day off? I will take care of my grandchild."
He would be beyond ecstatic and would probably be the coolest grandpa ever. Agh, I cannot say too much because spoileeeers, but he would be the happiest man alive if any of his children formed a family 💜😭.

8 for pride oc asks :)
8. Have they had struggles with their identity, be it due to internal or external reasons?
Ah thank you!
Answering for Zas...
Not really, as far as gender or sexuality. She knew she was sapphic very early, though it took a while to realize she was never attracted to men. And men don't generally make a nuisance of themselves except for a few exceptions who seem a bit vague on women being people to get to know (like Magnai, bless his dense head.) Zas leans towards butch but has never really questioned whether she was a woman other than once asking herself if she might be non-binary. She was a bit slow to experience romantic attraction, but when she did, there were no doubts (about her feelings, even if she's an adorkable idiot who is convinced no one could feel that way about her.)
Now, she's had huge struggles with other things about her identity, like having been poor and homeless for much of her life and being a Duskwight and being called the WoL/D. The first two more external, and the latter internal.
On a more general note, one of the things I really love about the game is that these things, in all their complexity, just exist without comment or judgment. All of the Scions seem to be bi/pan based on the equal opportunity flirting, lol. So I just enjoy HCing that those just aren't things that are usually an issue (even in ultra-conservative Ishgard, I hc that the accepted alternative to a marriage and children for noble women is to become knights, making the Ishgardian forces very heavy on sapphic women lol. Several we meet in the Sea of Clouds seem explicitly uninterested in marriage.)
Zas is unusual for my OCs because most of them are bi/pan. But she zeroed in on women NPCs about an hour into playing the game for the first time and refused to even consider the men, lol. I honestly think that was just me reacting to how many well-fleshed out women there are in this game compared to others I've played.
Thank you again!

15 for the Pride asks
15. How has your identity changed over time?
The first thing I discovered about myself was that I'm bi, around 16-18. It took a while for me to wrap my ahead around the fact that I wasn't straight. I'd also always been polyamorous, but didn't discover that had a name until a bit later.
I started untangling my gender when I discovered ideas like "nonbinary" and "genderqueer" and "genderfucked" much much later - I was 27 when I first started grappling with maybe being transmasc, but feeling like I "didn't count" bc I didn't want to transition. I didn't feel like not a woman, just not a woman all the time. Learning that trans =/= transition for one, and that gender is absolutely a performance and a spectrum for two has given me so much peace and joy.
And, on this first day of aro visibility, I can now confidently add quoiromantic to the list! I'd questioned my aroness for years now, and a dear friend recently helped me find out that there's a whole community for that! we wtfromantics have made a whole identity out of asking "what even is romance and how does romantic love differ from other love and does it even matter anyways????" and a myriad other questions around the whole mess that is romance. So now I can confidently continue to have no idea with the support of a community who also has no clue, and is happy asking forever
It's Pride! Come get nosy!

💛 - who or what made you realize you were queer?
in regards to sexuality, it was probably mostly my extremely codependent relationship that i had with my elementary/middle school best friend 😭😭 i thought it was completely normal to want to marry ur bestfriend, be a family with her, get extremely angry at her having boyfriends. and then she came out to me first (she’s a few years older) , and i realized that being queer was even an option LMAO
when it comes to being gender-fluid/trans, an online friend referred to me with they/them pronouns for the first time in late 2020 and little ace was like woAh that feels good
🌱 - how would your younger self act if your current self told them they were queer?
for being bisexual, my younger self would probably realize that a lot of things and feelings make sense now (i used to rewatch the same scooby doo movie so many times cuz one of the girls was pretty and it made me feel weird 😭)
now if i told my younger self i was trans, not even like 5 years ago i would’ve been SHOOK. mostly because my younger self didn’t realize there were other options besides being a trans man or women. it had never even come into consideration

Yeah I have so many dude. Wheatley absolutely knows what a pronoun is if you asked him (plus a bonus transparent version so people can put whatever flag they want. Why not)

This one took me way too long to get around to but I went ahead and did all three. I actually have two different headcanons for them: one where they're all in a polycule together, or Shiver and Frye both being lesbians and Big Man being like their adopted cat

13. Do you choose to reclaim slurs, why or why not?
It's complicated? As someone with intersecting marginalized identities, reclaiming slurs isn't straightforward. Like...I don't mind saying queer and calling myself queer, but I wouldn't call anyone queer unless I know they're okay with it, and I hate being called queer by cishet folks. It just feels weird and unsettling, especially since they often use it in conjunction with pseudo-progressive transphobia-apologetic language.
And obviously reclaiming slurs is a personal thing.... but I've seen people irl and on the internet think that reclaiming a slur means that they can hurl it as an insult to other people. Like....I joke about being a kike with my brothers, but I would never call another Jew a kike. I think a lot of people treat reclaiming slurs like it's about collecting Pokemon cards of slurs, like ...how many slurs you're allowed to say. And that feels very juvenile to me, like a middle schooler learning the word "fuck" for the first time and trying to use it in every conversation. And I get the enthusiasm from baby gays and stuff excited about new language to use, but also being called the t-slur unprompted by a queer teen is uh....jarring.
Plus there's also the issue of people "reclaiming" slurs that were never theirs to reclaim, like perisex trans and nonbinary people using the word "h*rm*phr*d*te", what that word is a specific slur against intersex people. Or people "reclaiming" symbols like the black triangle, claiming it was used against anything from trans people to lesbians during the Holocaust.....when in reality it was used to label "asocials", which the majority of were Romani people. And both intersex people and Romani people are marginalized groups that are largely overlooked and ignored by the LGBTQ community, and whose struggles and oppression are often co-opted.
Ultimately it comes down to: Are you reclaiming a slur or are you co-opting it?
Because there's a whole spectrum of answers for that one, and not all of them are good.
