OMG all the new boys are fascinating but ummm Swapfell Fruition especially?? Sounds so good?? I would love a full lore dump on this concept, I love the idea of Vi playing the long con to get rid of Gaster and it all sounds so good. Incidentally I need to read Dirty Laundry again lol, everything you make with regards to any version of Swapfell is just *chef's kiss*
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Swapfell Fruition
A young Sans’ attempt to kill his creator, the Royal Scientist is a failure.
Gaster survives the scuffle that would’ve toppled him off of the CORE’s scaffolding and gains the upper hand, subduing his traitorous creation and forcing him—and the younger one he’d been trying to escape with—back to his labs.
Sans was reckless, tipped his hand too soon and without the luck to have succeeded on the first attempt, Gaster learns that he is a sneaky little backstabber, capable of appearing obedient but hiding ruthless intentions.
He's almost proud… but of course he can't have that.
It becomes clear to the Royal Scientist that obviously, he needs his creations to have some kind of failsafe. The little one hasn't shown any signs of disobedience yet, but his primary caretaker is a crafty little snake, no telling what he could influence him to do, if given the time or the chance—so it’s back to the drawing board, to the operating table with them both.
Papyrus, at his age, doesn't really know what happens to him, only that whatever was done to him hurt, a lot. He wakes up after in the room he’d shared with his brother, scared and hurting and alone, and when Sans finally reappears, he goes to him for a hug.
Except…
Sans doesn’t hug him back.
He doesn’t hug back, and he doesn’t say anything, no matter how much Papyrus begs him to…
And the next time Gaster summons them to the lab, it’s Sans who picks him up and keeps him from squirming away, holding his arm out for Gaster’s needles.
Papyrus doesn’t understand the betrayal, at the time or in the years that follow.
His hurt turns to bitterness and resentment as his once gentle and protective big brother starts to actively help their creator change him, gradually shaping him into a stronger, more efficient killer.
But even with all the modification and training he’s subjected to, Papyrus isn’t quite the solider or war machine Gaster had planned he would be—he spooks when caught by surprise, he’s easily distracted by irrelevant things, his loyalties twist and sway far too easily for Gaster’s liking…
Well, the Royal Scientist is nothing if not resourceful, certainly able to work with…limited materials and still produce something of use.
With the right mental conditioning, and the right handler to make use of it, Papyrus will still be a valuable asset for the Empress.
After all, there’s always political enemies to the crown that her highness would surely prefer to have…removed, discreetly, and other such dirty work best done in the shadows.
Fast and stealthy, like an assassin, seems more suited to Papyrus’ abilities anyway.
And as for a handler, who better than Sans to fill the role?
Gaster’s prototype was largely a failure, but certainly intelligent and organized, presumably capable of researching and observing targets, briefing the asset on situations and targets and memorizing the trigger words and phrases necessary to keep him operating at peak efficiency.
Sans doesn’t protest.
He doesn’t protest much of anything anymore, not since…
………
Well, it’s not like he’s ever spoken about what happened when everything changed, not even to Papyrus, so when he goes along with this too, neither Gaster nor Papyrus expects otherwise.
So, that’s how it is.
Papyrus becomes the perfect assassin and Sans doles out his marching orders, occasionally following behind on missions to jerk his leash and keep him on track.
Between them, it’s…complicated.
Sans is still Papyrus’ brother, the closest thing to an ally that Papyrus has, both of them stuck in service to a power-hungry, unethical prick.
There are moments where they’re okay, times where a joke will slip out and one of them will laugh, injuries tended to, backs watched under fire, and dozens more little things that just wouldn’t happen if they were nothing to each other.
But the moments never last long.
Reality always comes back in sooner or later—usually in the form of Gaster, demanding an update or issuing new orders or calling them back from the field, to which Sans always, always complies.
Papyrus takes it as a reminder of where Sans’ real loyalties must lie.
He’s some kind of brother, not always awful, and maybe he does care about Papyrus, a little bit, but he answers to Gaster above anything or anyone else, apparently by choice.
He can’t be trusted, not really.
And Sans…
Sans stays quiet and does his job.
Quickly, efficiently, and to the letter—exemplary service, always.
Irreproachable.
He’s almost completely beneath suspicion by the time the last human falls into the Underground.
Gaster couldn’t be more thrilled.
This is a golden opportunity, the perfect chance to prove his worth to the Empress and earn clout and accolades innumerable—to be the one responsible for capturing the seventh soul and freeing all of monsterkind from their centuries of imprisonment and allowing the war against humanity to finally begin!
Well, technically, it would be his creations doing it, but it’s his name that history will remember, him who would rise into legend as the most brilliant and ruthless monster to ever live, the catalyst in humanity’s downfall.
He doesn’t waste so much as a minute before summoning Sans and ordering him to handle it, immediately.
Meet with the Empress, alert her that there’s a human loose in the Underground, and offer her the services of the asset in ending their free roam.
Sans agrees, as he always has, and goes to fetch his brother for the job.
Papyrus is admittedly a little blindsided when not two seconds out of the labs, Sans pulls him aside, out of range of known cameras and recording devices and hisses at him to listen.
He doesn’t know what to make of what Sans says after, either—that he hasn’t earned it and he knows that, but he needs Papyrus to trust him right now, because he is going to lie and everything depends on Papyrus going along with it.
In spite of their messy history and every uncharitable thing Papyrus has ever thought about Sans…right here and now, something in his gut tells him this is no trick.
He agrees to ‘go along with it’…whatever ‘it’ is.
Sans waits until a certain amount of time has elapsed, and then he makes a call to Gaster with Papyrus present to listen.
Gaster is informed that there’s a problem with the latest target. The asset’s programming isn’t taking and he’s refusing to track down the human.
This is, of course, news to Papyrus, who hasn’t been assigned his target yet.
But…Sans said ‘trust me’ and ‘play along,’ so that’s what he does, complaining that he doesn’t want to kill a child, just put him back in his cage and do your own dirty work, old man…
Helpfully—always helpful, always intelligent, always reliable—Sans postulates a conflict of orders might be causing the programming to bug like this. Gaster’s overarching orders are for the asset to kill targets assigned to him, but the Empress has unfortunately countermanded that the human must be brought to her alive.
And again, Papyrus knows differently because the Empress hasn’t given him any orders, they never made it to her for orders to be given and Toriel likely doesn’t even know yet that a human has fallen.
But he said he’d go along with the lie so he keeps his mouth shut, even as he hears Gaster curse on the other end of the line.
Gaster finds Sans’ assessment of the situation as reasonable as it is frustrating, but minds are complicated machines and often behave strangely when conflicts arise. Just look at the Empress, who knows that humans must be killed to free her people, but feels she must perform the act herself instead of the far more convenient option being presented to her!
The asset’s orders being in conflict is a far more annoying stopping block, though, yet another barrier in the way of all the glory that Gaster has so painstakingly earned.
Time is short, stakes are high, he refuses to recall his creation just to debug it and resolve the glitch, not now.
Instead he makes his fatal mistake.
He overrides the asset’s failsafes.
All of them.
Impatiently rattling off a code that nearly makes Papyrus stagger from a feeling like weight being lifted, Gaster disconnects the call with a sharp command to Sans to ‘handle it,’ now that there were no restrictions on his targets or what he could be ordered to do.
Sans is only quiet for a moment before handing a picture to Papyrus, locking him on and beginning the usual debrief.
Papyrus can’t fully grasp what he’s looking at, not at first.
“………confirm target?”
“WINDINGS GASTER, THE CURRENT ROYAL SCIENTIST TO THE CROWN.”
As with any briefing, Papyrus must be informed of his target’s connections, abilities and assets.
Gaster has strong ties with the crown, and between that and his own paranoia, security around him will be tight. He’s intelligent, strong, and merciless, and he won’t hesitate to make use of anything at his disposal in a life-or-death situation.
As an example, he had implanted a condition into his private assassin’s mental programming that would prevent him from acting against or outright attacking him—so it’s fortunate they’ve already cleared that concern.
Now, the top priorities are to ensure that Sans is physically far away from Gaster when the mission is executed, and that Papyrus is at no point seen by Gaster before he’s dead. The entire operation could be sunk if both of these conditions aren’t met.
“why?”
“THERE’S AN ADDITIONAL FAILSAFE, IMPLANTED IN YOUR SOUL. IF GASTER REALIZES YOU’VE BEEN TURNED ON HIM BEFORE YOU’VE SUCCEEDED, HE CAN INSTANTLY DROP YOUR HP TO 1.”
“………and why am i doing this without my handler?”
“BECAUSE I’M COMPROMISED TOO. IF HE SEES ME OUT OF PLACE OR SUSPECTS I’VE BETRAYED HIM AGAIN, HE’LL USE THE FAILSAFE IN MY SOUL TO REMOTELY CONTROL MY BODY AND MOBILIZE ME AGAINST YOU—AND OF COURSE, AT THAT POINT, HE WOULD KNOW THAT YOU’RE TARGETING HIM AS WELL AND BE PREPARED TO KILL YOU.”
And that…
Well.
That sure is a hell of a lot of new information that Papyrus will have to process later, when there’s not a strong compulsion in the back of his skull that there is someone he needs to kill.
He’s a professional, when he’s working.
He will focus on the mission.
To keep up appearances, Sans departs to find the fallen human and trail them on their journey through the Underground. He very much wants to ensure they reach the Empress safely, but there’s an added bonus of being exactly where he’s supposed to be and doing exactly what he’s supposed to do should Gaster check in on him—no need to arouse any suspicion, not before it’s far too late.
In the end, when Chara has befriended monsterkind against all odds, winning over the Empress herself and freeing them all to a life of peace with humankind on the surface, the death of the Royal Scientist is an incidental discovery.
Sans takes responsibility for it, pleading for the Empress’s mercy.
Gaster had wanted the human—kind young Chara, to whom Toriel has taken such a liking—killed immediately as soon as they emerged from the Ruins, and he hadn’t thought that the Empress would condone such an order in light of what she’s always held to regarding fallen humans.
Gaster had been adamant, though, and Sans… Well, he only wanted to serve the will of her highness and to do so, he turned the asset against their master. He hopes only for some leniency for what he’s done, Gaster may have been their father but—
Strangely enough, it seems Toriel had no idea that the asset and his handler were the Royal Scientist’s children. He’d always told her they were employees, volunteers for the things that were done to them and the missions they were told to undertake.
Learning that they had actually been created, intentionally molded and pressed into these roles without a choice in the matter…
Toriel, an Empress first but a mother a very close second, can certainly afford leniency.
The brothers are let loose in spite of their crime, with a bit of funding from the Empress to get on their feet after everything. The money is partially back-pay for their joint service as the crown’s black ops division (for which they were never actually compensated before), and partially amends for how long their…circumstance…went unnoticed.
Sans offers to split the money and part ways with Papyrus, if he’d prefer.
But Papyrus has learned a lot in the past few days to…completely and utterly recontextualize everything he ever thought was true about his handl—…his brother, and…maybe he should stick around a bit. See what’s what.
Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans)
Extremely restrained and closed off from so many years of being unable to talk to or trust anyone, not even his brother. An accomplished liar but socially unpracticed, tending to read as cold and unfriendly to those who approach him. He’s more awkward than genuinely hostile, though
Issues with being watched, spent most of his life simultaneously going unnoticed and being intensely over-monitored so his feelings about being observed—regardless of context—are complicated, runs hot and cold on it
Complicated feelings for his brother, too: he loves him, of course, and he failed him in many ways, but he was also stuck between him and Gaster for a long time and caught his fair share of hell from both sides and there’s some resentment there for that. He wants to fix things, but he’s not really sure how and just…awkwardly trying his best
Well-organized and skilled at research and thinking analytically, tends to approach most things with a problem-solving attitude and an eye-socket for detail. Extremely talented at finding loopholes and ways around or through the rules—though his respect for said rules is very low to begin with
Likes high and secluded places, mostly rooftops but anywhere it could be difficult for other people to get to. Whether or not those places are restricted by fencing or padlocks or lack of ladders is immaterial, if he finds a high spot he would like to be, he will get to it one way or another and perch as long as he pleases
Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus)
Impulsive and driven by self-interest, the years of mental conditioning have broken down his fears and inhibitions to nearly nothing. He does what he wants, when he wants, with little concern for anything else—a dog off its leash who’ll only heel when it’s good and ready to. Unfortunately charming enough to mostly get away with it
Problems with authority, for obvious reasons. Likely to try to bend or break any rule presented to him, just to see if he can, and a severe lack of respect for anyone trying to enforce those rules upon him (especially the arbitrary ones)
Conflicting and highly jumbled feelings for his brother, making them a matched set: he disliked him, maybe even hated him a little for a long time, for helping Gaster turn him into what he is and for being the one to yank his leash and pull his strings…but that was before he knew that he had a kill-switch in his soul and that his brother was up on strings on his own, being pulled by the jackass they both apparently hated… It doesn’t erase everything that happened, knowing that, but it does…change things. (He wants to fix things too, but he’s not sure how either, so they’re both just awkwardly trying)
Needs ‘tune-ups’ every so often to reinforce his mental conditioning and make sure all his programming is intact, even now that Gaster’s gone and he’s retired as an assassin. Going too long without re-upping it causes deterioration, compulsions ‘leaking’ without being triggered and causing headaches and erratic, sometimes violent behavior so…best for everyone to keep his head maintained regularly
Absolutely loves nature and wilderness, hiking, camping, and climbing trees is his idea of an excellent time. Could absolutely go off on a run and disappear into the trees and not be seen or heard from for a week, likely to get some forest-cryptid lore started about him—possibly on purpose

AROACE OC!
My OC realizing he’s aroace haha!
Lucas sat us the plastic foldout chair of the chemistry lab as Izumi worked on her project.
He twiddled his thumbs, reading through his friend’s groupchat.
Lisa: CARLY ASKED TO HANG OUT, WHAT DO I DO?!
Lisa: DAMIAN?! LUCAS?!
Lisa: HELP!????
Damian: I’m hanging out with Cameron, calm down!
Lisa: YOU’RE ALWAYS ON A DATE WITH CAMERON I NEED ADVICE NOW!
Damian: You know it’s not like that!!!
Lucas turned his phone onto silent and rested his head onto the table. He always gave Lisa advice on how to deal with her crush, Carly. But he felt like a fraud.
Lucas Camper, ladies man who gets daily love confessions. Lucas Camper, well known heartbreaker and possible player..
Lucas Camper.. an absolutely confused mess!
“You’re depressed about something,” Izumi said.
“You’re not even looking over here.”
“I can sense it!” She turned to look at him. “うわー!You look even worse than I thought you would!” She turned off her Bunsen burner and pulled up a chair next to Lucas.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
He hesitated before sighing. “You’re straight, right?”
She blinked in surprise before nodding. “As a ruler.”
“Have you ever dated a guy before?”
She raised an eyebrow. “No. I haven’t. Where is this going?”
“Why haven’t you? Haven’t you liked anyone before?”
She gave him a skeptical look before answering. “Yes, I’ve liked many guys before. But right now I’m taking time to work on myself and school. If I wanna get into a good college, I’ve gotta work.”
“So you’re not interested in being in a relationship-“
“Currently.”
“-currently. But you’ve still felt that desire before with some guys?”
She nodded. “Yes.” She grasped his hand. “Where are you going with this?”
“I.. I’ve never really.. felt like that.”
“Like what?”
“Romantic.”
She stared at him for a moment. “Never?”
“Nope.”
“Natta?”
“Zilch.”
“Never even in primary school when you had those pretend weddings on the playground?”
“Nope. Though I was the priest for one of those.”
“Well I’ll be..” She rested her chin on her hand to study him for a moment.
“What about sexual?”
The word hit him like a freight train. “HUH?!”
“You know.. watching a movie and a girl or boy comes on screen.. maybe close ups on their assets.. maybe even during a sex scene..”
With each word, he felt his face grow hotter and hotter. “STOP! This is making me uncomfortable!”
“So you’ve never experienced that?”
“NO!!”
He buried his face into his arms to hide his embarrassment. Izumi studied him for a moment before chuckling softly. “白痴. I think I see what’s going on.”
He lifted his head ever so slightly, still red. “You do..?”
“Yep.. I think you’re aroace.”
He stared at her fore a good minute. “I’m what now?”
“Aromantic asexual. Meaning you don’t experience romantic love or desire and you don’t experience sexual attraction or desire.”
He let the word float through his head for a moment. “Aromantic asexual..” he said out loud. He then shook his head to snap himself out of the trance.
“But.. how can I not experience that?! Everyone experiences that. With Damian in a not-so-secret relationship with Cameron and Lisa’s crush on Carly! What would that make me?! A.. a robot..?”
He didn’t realize he had stood out of his chair until Izumi helped him sit back down. “Dummy. No, it doesn’t. Do you care about Damian and Lisa?”
“…Yes..”
“Case closed, you’re not a robot!”
“But.. but.. how can we still be friends? They’re always on about the person they love.. where does that leave me?”
“It leaves you as you..”
He looked at her anxiously.
She chuckles softly. “You guys still have your friendship. Things like interests and hobbies and mutual care and trust. If your friendship is built on them just talking only about romance, that’s not a true friendship. But keep in mind that they just wanna vent about their own feelings right now. My brother is the same way with that Bok kid..” she murmured the last part under her breath.
He bit his lip before leaning back in his chair and kicking his feet back and forth. “But in movies and tv, it always ends with them kissing or married and with kids! That’s what I’m… I’m supposed to do..”
She closed her eyes, thinking before smiling. “Be your own story.”
“…what?”
“Be your own protagonist. Quit living in third person. Make your own ending. Just because you have tons of suitresses doesn’t mean you have to end up with one. You can just keep living your life and they’ve got to respect that. You’re not a prize. You’re Lucas.”
She gently ruffles his hair. “You don’t have to feel guilty about any of that.”
He chuckles and stands up. “I’ve gotta think about all this.”
She nods. “Go ahead. And if you arrrrre… QPR?”
“QP-what now?”
She laughed and playfully shoved his shoulder. “I’ll tell you another time. Now go home Lucas..”
He smiles at her one last time before turning to leave.

Half Sibling AU
What is Luz and Hunter's relationship in this AU?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKK THIS IS A GOOD ONE
I'm gonna put most of this answer under a read more, since this is all stuff I'm going to be keeping tightly under wraps for a few chapters in DoaF, but Luz and Hunter's entire thing is something I'm too excited about to not ramble about it
So the short story is that Luz and Hunter's relationship goes-
Mortal Enemies but in a grade-schoolers-on-the-playground way except the adults are giving them weapons -> Anything that That Idiot can figure out, I can figure out something even better with my way better magic! -> We helped each other not die in a drastic situation, but that doesn't make us friends...right? we cant be friends, we're Mortal Enemies -> Secret Friends, in more ways than one, but publicly they're Mortal Enemies. fistfighting is a legitimate love language -> overprotective and overly traumatized Siblings
Doaf is taking place during the Secret Friends part
The longer story goes more like this-
When Luz gets her first bounty at 9, it alerts Belos to her presence on the Isles in the present. He does whatever he does in cannon to figure out that Luzura the Crab Maiden was actually Eda the Owl Lady's own daughter! He found it a bit ironic, that the most annoying thorn in his side he'd ever had to deal with was the mother of the person who helped him meet the Collector.
Knowing he had to ensure that Luz completed the time loop, he decides to make Hunter his newest Golden Guard a few years earlier than he had planned. Belos had been considering accelerating the Grimwalkers training, but with the Luzura development he decides it's worth the risk. Besides, the boy seems smart enough, he'll learn on the job.
((Lilith thought the new Golden Guard was a short demon until she heard his voice))
Belos gives the Golden Guard a special assignment, one quite similar to Lilith's. He is tasked with observing a new, dangerous up-and-coming criminal, 'the Owlet', and learning as much as he can about her. He claims that he feels the Owlet shows great magical promise, and could be a valuable asset to the Empire if she could be convinced to turn away from her mothers wild ways and join a coven.
((It took all of Lilith's self control to keep a straight face when Belos said that. She had only met Luz maybe two dozen times over the last few years, but she knew the girls love for and loyalty to Edalyn was unshakable))
Hunter was absolutely thrilled to get his staff, and his assignment. He took to his task with all the might his eleven-year-old body could muster, and set off for Bonesborough to track her down
He is very disappointed when he finds her playing in the woods near town. This little kid was some kind of new big bad criminal? She was wandering around the woods, talking to herself and swinging a stick around, Titans sake she was wearing otter jammies!
Hunter figured it would be easier to just catch her then and there, so Uncle could just show Owlet herself that he was a good person, and that wild magic was bad, and then he could give Hunter an assignment fitting the Golden Guard.
Luz bit him.
It left a scar.
Most of the teeth marks fade over the years, but the ones from her primary fangs never leave his arm.
From that first meeting, a rivalry was born! Any time the Owlet and the Golden Guard ran into each other after that, they would pretty much try to kill each other. That turned into more of a proper rivalry as they grew older.
Owlet would create a new potion, Golden Guard would learn a new spell with his staff to counter it. Golden Guard would use some new cool parkour move, Owlet would stay up late training to try and keep up with the older boy.
Until an incident on the Knee, when Hunter is 13 and Luz is 11.
Luz and Eda had been collecting ingredients for potions, Hunter is up there on assignment with a squad of guards. The two groups run into each other, and of course a fight breaks out. Owlet and Golden Guard get separated from the rest.
They run into and upset some kind of demon with storm magic, who joins their fight, and Luz ends up pushing Hunter out of the way of a blow that could have killed him. The demon kicks up a storm, and Hunter, injured, tired, horrified, and confused, grabs an injured Luz and manages to get the both of them into a very small cave to wait out the storm.
The two kids work together to treat each others injuries, and after learning that neither of them have magic, they start to bond. It takes hours for the storm to pass, and when it does Owlet and Golden Guard part ways, find their respective camping parties, and expect things to be the same as they were before.
But the next time they wind up chasing each other across the Night Market and out into the woods, far from other people, their fighting kinda just...stops. The both of them had wondered about how the other kid was healing up, and after a few awkward questions they hear the Owl Lady searching for them.
Owlet runs to her instead of calling for her.
Hunter doesn't give chase.
Next time they're alone, they talk more.
Even more the next time.
And eventually they become genuine friends.
I'm debating having Luz give Hunter a secret Penstagram scroll a bit earlier than he gets the one from Darius in cannon, so that might be a thing but I'm undecided.
They're still really competitive, and sometimes they'll spend their secret hang-out sessions sparring for fun.
Things are kind of...awkward tho.
Bc of the whole, y'know, wanted criminal and high ranking law enforcement officer thing.
They try not to talk about...that. There are a lot of things they try not to talk about.
And by the end of the story, they're siblings through and through.

Before he took over, Orochimaru had never imagined that HYDRA’s little pet project would grow into such a success.
The idea behind the Red Room was simple: women were less likely to be suspected of espionage than men. Women were more often thrown to the side, left with nothing and no one to care for them. The Red Room was created to solve this problem.
Orochimaru took all of his girls in when they were infants. Before him, they were unwanted—trash that he raised to be something important. Without him, they were nothing. After he took them in, they changed the world.
He gave them everything.
He took over for his senile predecessor when the program was expanding. Hundreds of girls were given to him by families who didn’t have the means to care for them. They believed in their country, and they believed in him as a guardian for their daughters.
Girls were an infinite resource. He was simply giving them a purpose.
And through them, he was creating an empire.
Tumblr media
4 years ago, HYDRA Outpost
“Who is this?”
The room was a frenzy of flashing red lights and white-clad bodies. They shuffled past one another in their rush to collect anything classified and hurry out of the building. Orochimaru couldn’t say that he felt the same sense of urgency. What really interested him at the moment was the pink-haired girl who had just been carried in, unconscious and much older than his usual recruits. He wondered if he had been brought another defect and filed the thought away along with a reminder to kill whoever decided it would be a good idea to waste his time.
“Sakura Haruno, sir. We were moving her here, but we were intercepted. We thought we’d gotten rid of the threat, but it seems that we were followed.”
“Hm,” Orochimaru smiled, finally turning towards Kinuta. The boy was holding Sakura over his shoulder, fear-filled eyes wide as Orochimaru stared him down, “and tell me, how is it that you allowed yourself to be followed, compromising not one, but two of our bases?”
“S-sir, it’s Kakashi Hatake. She’s his student.”
Oh. That certainly changed things. He finally took a moment to look at the girl. She couldn’t have been younger than twelve, but he supposed that she would do fine. He could work with used materials.
“Hatake is here?”
The man was, for lack of a better descriptor, one of SHIELD’s most important assets. In his earlier years, he had completed missions with near-inhumane efficiency at a rate that not even seasoned agents had been able to match. However, he’d become less active as a field agent, and one of the primary reasons for that inactivity was being handed to him on a silver platter.
“Yes sir, he came with a team of agents and another one of his students. They’ve already breached the building,” Kinuta swallowed, glancing back at the thick metal door separating them from the rest of the base. He could hear the familiar echo of bullets hitting steel walls, “should we let her go?”
“No,” Orochimaru grinned, ignoring the chaos outside and taking the girl from Kinuta. “I’ll see that she’s relocated. Go join the others, but do not tell them about the girl. Signal for evacuation, and call for a code black. We’re abandoning this place.”
“Sir–”
“Are you really going to make me repeat myself?” Orochimaru looked up from where he’d been staring down at Sakura, eyes bright with something between fury and ecstasy. “Go.”
Kinuta scrambled through the door, and for a moment Orochimaru could clearly hear his men dying at the hands of SHIELD’s dogs before the door slammed shut. When he looked back at Sakura, an involuntary laugh escaped his parted lips. She was delicate—almost fragile in his arms. By the time most of his girls were her age, they already had some muscle to compliment their immense skill. He needed to tell Kabuto to accelerate her training.
He imagined that Kakashi was about halfway through the compound by now. It would be a headache dealing with the death count as a result of this misstep, but he couldn’t bring himself to care at the moment. He was too wrapped up in his buzzing thoughts; this opportunity had dropped itself into his lap like a gift from the gods, and he wasn’t going to let it go to waste.
“Now then,” he sighed, listening carefully as the gunshots got closer, “let’s get you home.”
Tumblr media
Present day, SHIELD Compound
When you woke up in a cell, your immediate assumption was that everything you remembered had been a dream. It had happened enough times that the thought was easy enough to accept, but disappointment still ate at you. You tried to swallow it down, but all it did was leave a leave a sour taste in your throat.
You were so close. If that man and his little sidekick hadn’t interfered, you and Sakura would have gotten out. You would’ve been free–
It was a dream, you reminded yourself. It had to have been a dream. If it wasn’t, that meant you’d failed to save Sakura. It meant that she was still in the Red Room, likely being subjected to some kind of punishment for the escape attempt. The image of her at the hands of the Headmaster made bile rise in your throat. It was just a dream. It wasn’t real. She’s fine. She’s still on her mission, away from the Headmaster. Away from the tests and the pain and the–
“Hey...are you awake?”
You twitched at the unfamiliar voice. It sounded young—certainly younger than any of the HYDRA agents you were familiar with
Whoever it was shuffled towards the bars, close enough that their shoes scuffed against the metal.
Just a little closer...
You could hear him breathing now, as if he was peeking through the bars to try and get a closer look at you. When you opened your eyes, you searched his face for a split second before you shot up and grabbed his collar, yanking him forward with enough force that his head slammed against the metal. His eyes widened, one hand flying to his hip on instinct. You saw the slightest glint of a knife slipping from its sheath around his waist. With grit teeth and growing frustration, you kicked through the space between the bars, pinning his left hand to the concrete floor. His knife skid to the opposite side of the room, and you took slight satisfaction in his shocked expression. His surprise gave you enough time to grab his right arm, which was frozen in a defensive position. You trapped it against one of the bars and pressed his wrist back far enough that he understood it as warning. He winced, eyes wide as you ground harder into the hand trapped under your heel.
“Is Sakura here?” you asked carefully. His panicked breaths quickened each second that he was restrained, but his eyes didn’t hold the fear that you expected to find in them.
“Y-yeah,” he nodded, quick and nervous, “She’s here, alright? She’s fine! I just wanted to–”
“What are you doing to her?” you said through clenched teeth, hesitation forgotten. Fear swallowed you at his confirmation—you were right. Sakura wasn’t on her mission. It was all a trap, and you didn’t get her out quick enough. “You have five seconds to answer me before I break your wrist.”
“Nothing! I’d never hurt her!”
“Liar.”
This time, terror lit up his expression, but you only caught a glimpse of the it before he was gone—replaced by the man who was responsible for your capture. For Sakura’s capture.
“You,” you snarled, throwing yourself at the man and clawing desperately at the space between you, “you took her! I’ll kill you if you did anything to her!”
You kept your face pressed against the bars, fingertips barely brushing the material of his jacket. It was a humiliating admittance of your fear, but that didn’t matter now. Sakura was still in the Red Room. She was probably being tortured right now, and you were trapped. You had no way of reaching her unless you got out of this cell.
“Sakura is fine. I’m not your enemy, although I will be if you hurt one of my students again,” he said, calm voice juxtaposed by his tightening fists and harsh glare. You paused, and when you met his eyes, they hardened in silent warning, “you’re here because Sakura wouldn’t come with me unless I brought you too, which means that you get to stay on a strict set of conditions.”
You pressed your head against the bars, gripping them in white-knuckled fists. The man stayed silent for another moment, letting your panting breaths fill the space between you.
“Since you just broke the first condition, you get to stay in your cell a bit longer before I consider a probation. The second condition: you don’t speak to Sakura unless I allow you to. On the off chance that I do allow it, I will be present for any interactions. The third: if I suspect that you intend to harm any of my students, I will not hesitate to kill you. Understand?”
“Where am I?”
“The fourth: you don’t get to ask questions.”
“You’re full of shit.”
The man smiled, crinkling the corners of his eyes above his black mask. You couldn’t see the outline of his mouth through the fabric, but you could practically feel his smugness. It infuriated you to no end that the expression was justified—you were the one behind bars.
He took calculated steps to the edge of the cell, watching your hands carefully as they tightened around the bars. After a few moments, he knelt down in front of you, eyes alight with anger.
You imagined that your eyes held the same fury. You were itching to lunge for him and wring his neck until he let you see Sakura.
He was close enough now that you could reach him. You weren’t sure what your endgame was, but you couldn’t stop yourself from shooting an arm aimed for his throat through the bars.
“Kakashi-sensei!”
Your back was pressed against the cold metal before you could so much as touch him. You had barely registered his movement, but now he was holding your neck against the bars with one arm as the other encircled your wrists, grip tight as iron. Your hip throbbed, but you ignored it and focused instead on the unbearable feeling of someone holding you down by the throat.
“Don’t–” you gasped, wincing when the pressure on your neck tightened. You tried to force yourself to stay present, to keep yourself from being consumed by memories, but you still felt phantom hands holding your shoulders to keep you pinned down. You shook your head to dissipate the nonexistent touch, but unwanted memories still threatened to break to the surface, “don’t hurt her. I’ll stop fighting if you promise that Sakura won’t be hurt. You can do whatever you want to me, just...just prove that she’s safe.”
“I don’t know why you think you have any power to make demands, but you’re going to have to do better than empty words if you want to see Sakura. You just attacked me and my student completely unprovoked.”
“Unprovoked?” you spit, clenching your fists and prying them from his grip. He released his hold on you, but didn’t move from his position in front of the bars. Gasping, you backed away from the bars and involuntarily reached towards your neck. “You kidnapped me. You put me in a cell, and now you’re telling me that you can’t show me proof that Sakura is alive.”
He just stared at you, eyes empty and expression bored.
“Maybe I’ll be more understanding if you start being more useful,” he said casually. “Tell me about the Red Room.”
You remembered the first time you’d been interrogated as a training exercise. If you so much as said a word in response to your “captors’” questions, you were punished. Anything more than silence only led to pain. Even if you wanted to answer the man’s questions, it was conditioning rather than choice that kept your lips sealed shut.
“You know, for how desperate you are to see Sakura, you sure aren’t being very cooperative.”
You wanted to laugh. You’d gained your bearings now, and oriented yourself to the reality of your situation: you hadn’t escaped the Red Room, and you had to avoid any injury at the hands of this man, HYDRA or otherwise. Changing his to imitate someone that Sakura trusted was child’s play for Orochimaru. And if he really was the one sitting in front of you now, answering these questions would end in punishment. You were already injured, and any further damage would not allow for a successful escape, and that was still your goal. These attempts at manipulation wouldn’t so easily sway you now.
“I’ll let you see her if you answer my questions.”
You had been raised to tell lies, and a liar knew a liar when they saw one. He had no intention of letting you see Sakura any time soon. If all he had to offer was an exchange of information for proof of life, you weren’t interested. It was proof or silence.
“Hm,” he gave you a once over, resting his chin on his arm and keeping his expression flat and unimpressed, “maybe you’re not as interested in Sakura’s safety as you want me to believe.”
Your eye twitched. After a final moment of watching one another, the man stood and led his student through the metal door. It slammed shut, and it was only your heavy, uncontrolled breathing that filled the silence once the echo had stopped.
Tumblr media
“You’re being cruel!”
“I’m only doing what’s necessary to keep you and the others safe. As far as I’m concerned, she is a threat until proven otherwise.”
“I told you, she just wants to make sure I’m safe! She probably thinks that I’m being tortured, or...or worse! She’s just scared!”
“She hurt Naruto.”
“Naruto’s fine! He was the one poking around her cell.”
Kakashi and Sakura had been going back and forth for nearly an hour. Kakashi was sitting calmly at a desk chair while Sakura stood over him, arms crossed and face as menacing as she could manage. Kakashi could admit that she had become a bit more intimidating since her capture, but he could still see her old habits from before. Her bottom lip jutted out when she was upset, she balled her hands into fists to keep them from shaking, and she never broke eye contact.
“It’s not as simple as you want it to be,” Kakashi told her carefully. “I haven’t even conducted a formal interrogation. There are procedures I need to follow before I allow any interaction–”
“Procedures?” Sakura looked close to breaking into a fit of laughter. “Since when have you cared about procedures? I’m sure kidnapping her and keeping her locked up isn’t in your procedure!”
“If it were up to me, she wouldn’t be here,” he narrowed his eyes, “and as far as SHIELD is concerned, she’s the enemy.”
“Oh, please. You’ve been going over SHIELD’s head for years! They don’t care what you do when you’re not on missions!”
In all honesty, Kakashi couldn’t find it in him to truly engage with this conflict right now. He was just happy that Sakura was safe, and he wasn’t sure he could risk that safety no matter how much she vouched for you.
Sasuke and Naruto were sitting on the far side of the room, doing their very best to pretend that they weren’t listening.
“Sensei.”
It had been two days since Sakura’s rescue. Two days of either petulant silence or arguments like this one. And in all of those interactions, this was the first time that she had addressed him like she used to. He leaned back in his seat, eyes burning.
“I’m grateful that you saved me. Really, and I couldn’t be happier to be back. I missed you more than anything, but...”
Naruto and Sasuke turned when they heard the break in Sakura’s voice. She hadn’t told them anything about the four years that she was gone. Two days of safety, and she was still forcing herself to put on a brave face. Kakashi knew from the deep bags under her eyes that the effort was exhausting.
“You weren’t there,” she whispered, shoulders shaking with days worth of pent up emotion. Probably years worth. “You weren’t there, and I don’t blame you for any of it...but she was.”
Kakashi blinked.
“I know you don’t trust her, and I understand why. She attacked you and Naruto, yes, but she’s been in the Red Room her whole life. And they...they gave us these tests where they would act like they were giving us a chance to escape. If we believed them and tried, we’d be punished for disloyalty. That’s why she doesn’t trust you. She thinks you’re testing her, and she thinks you’ll hurt me if she caves and believes that you’re really going to help us.”
Sakura was breathing hard, wiping at her face when she couldn’t bear to look at Kakashi any longer.
“She was there when you couldn’t be. She knows, and she...she understands. She kept me alive, sensei! Doesn’t that mean anything?”
Sakura was crying now, tears landing at her feet in her first real show of emotion since her rescue. Kakashi sat straighter, arms held halfway between them. He was at a loss. Nothing seemed right anymore, and he didn’t know if his old ways of comforting her would still have the same effect.
“They made me do things that I will never forget. Things that I’ll never be able to take back. But somehow, it was all okay because I wasn’t alone. She protected me. She hurt and bled for me. She made sure that I didn’t have to go through the same things that she did. She reminded me of you. Can’t you...will you just give her one chance?”
Kakashi wanted to say no. Now that he had gotten her back, he wanted to keep Sakura from any and all potential threats. But that wasn’t what he had been training her for, and it wasn’t going to do her any good now. He’d already failed to protect her once, and she was going to have to live with the consequences of his failure for the rest of her life.
She protected me. She reminded me of you.
One chance. He could manage that.
Tumblr media
The second time Kakashi came to you alone, you tried not to let it confirm your suspicions.
He knelt in front of the bars, leaning one arm against them and pulling a sleek silver card out of his back pocket. You eyed it, unmoving against the opposite wall of the cell. You did your best to appear unconcerned by his presence despite the itch to leap forward and throttle him.
“Sakura tells me that you protected her.”
He’s lying. She didn’t tell him anything. Orochimaru is feeding you lies.
You knew that he was baiting you into some kind of trap, but you sat straighter at the mention of Sakura. Kakashi saw the change in your demeanor, and you hated him for it.
“I want to believe her when she tells me that you’re not a threat,” he continued, “but you’re not doing much to back up that claim.”
You clenched your teeth, jaw tensing as you stared him down. To his credit, he met your gaze unfazed and unblinking. There was nothing about him that seemed deceptive, but you knew that letting your guard down was exactly what he was waiting for. HYDRA was patient with their tests, but you had endured them before. This was nothing new, and nothing that you couldn’t handle.
“I’m not sure what you want me to do from here,” you bit back.
“If you push your luck, you won’t be doing anything.”
Kakashi swiped the silver card through the scanner connected to the lock on the door. With a flash of green and an high-pitched beep, the lock clicked, and Kakashi opened the cell with only a moment of hesitation. You stilled, observing his movements carefully. He did the same, and you both waited for the other’s approach.
The silence that followed was deafening. You held your breath in anticipation of movement, but none came. The expectation of immediate violence hadn’t been met on either end, and the stalemate that followed filled you with so much tension that your hip began to ache again. You rested your hands on the cool concrete floor, ready to push yourself forward at the first sign of movement from the man in front of you.
“If you think I’ll fall for some kind of trick,” you breathed, every movement of your lips carefully localized. Kakashi’s eyes darted towards them in the only outward sign of tension that you could see, “you’re going to be disappointed.”
More silence followed, though the tension in the room grew with each passing second. Was he waiting for you to look away? Waiting to attack? Was this all to test your reflexes?
“Come in,” Kakashi shouted over his shoulder towards the main door. As it opened behind him, his eyes narrowed at you. “If I’m making a mistake in indulging you, I promise that you’re going to regret it.”
Your lips were sealed shut. You weren’t going to give him anything; whatever you said would be weaponized and used against you.
“Y/N!”
The familiar voice startled you from your thoughts. It was the voice that you’d been waiting to hear since you woke up separated from Sakura, but you found yourself backing up a step when she opened the door. She looked the same, and she was relatively unharmed, but you couldn’t help the doubt that flooded you.
She’s okay. How is she okay? How is she unharmed after the escape attempt? After you were recaptured?
“Sakura...” you muttered. Kakashi narrowed his eyes at your reaction. It was the first time he’d seen any emotion on your face other than rage.
He hadn’t expected to see fear.
Sakura didn’t notice your hesitation. She rushed past Kakashi and into the cell before he could tell her to wait.
“Stop,” you held a hand out in front of you, and Kakashi was surprised to see that it was shaking. He took a step forward, searching for any hostile movements or intent in your expression, but you just took another step back. Sakura froze, eyes wide and devastated, “how do I know it’s really you?”
“It is,” she whispered, voice breaking, “I promise.”
“I’m sorry,” you shook your head, as if shaking away an illusion, “I have to be sure. Tell me something that only the real Sakura would know.”
Sakura stood straighter, face falling into something more calculated. Kakashi wasn’t sure if this doubt was something she had experienced, but he couldn’t help the prick of guilt that crept its way into his conscience as you watched Sakura like she was a time bomb.
“There’s something hiding in our closet,” Sakura whispered, barely loud enough for Kakashi to hear. His brow furrowed, but the words seemed to have the desired effect on you. You stood straighter, eyes wide as you watched Sakura, “but you’re gone, and I have to be strong enough to keep it inside.”
The silence that followed Sakura’s words was thick. It dripped down the walls, creeping past Kakashi and into the cell where you stood frozen. He thought he may have been able to see it pooling at your feet if he looked carefully.
Sakura took a tentative step forward, but stopped when your raised hand twitched.
“It’s me,” she repeated, holding her hands in front of her carefully, palms up and relaxed, “you’re safe. We got out. This isn’t a trick.”
Kakashi tensed when you launched yourself at Sakura, but held himself back when she laughed and wrapped her arms around you. You were trembling, face buried in Sakura’s shoulder and arms tight around her shoulders. Your breathing was ragged, and Kakashi wondered if you’d been holding it since you first heard Sakura’s voice.
The girl was crying, shoulders shaking as she buried herself in your arms. Kakashi couldn’t help the flare of jealousy that he felt at the sight. Sakura hadn’t been nearly this happy to see him and Sasuke. Somehow, seeing you made her happier than being saved from the Red Room.
He supposed he should’ve known better than to compare himself to you. There was something different about bonds formed in crisis situations, and if Kakashi’s assumptions were correct, the past four years of Sakura’s life had been one drawn-out crisis.
“Sakura,” he put a careful hand on her shoulder. She peeked past you and looked at him. There was no contempt in her eyes anymore. Just pure relief. He smiled.
“Thank you,” she whispered, grabbing his hand and pressing it against her cheek. She ducked back into your neck, keeping Kakashi close enough that she could have you both in arms reach. She looked so much younger than she really was. If he wanted, he could’ve pretended that she had never been taken. But he saw the scars on her knuckles and the muscle that she’d lacked before. He saw the toll that four years in the Red Room had taken on her.
“Sakura,” you grabbed her shoulders, pulling her back and cupping her face. You looked between her eyes, studying them with a steady, careful gaze. You glanced at Kakashi briefly, suspicion still clouding your gaze and making you hesitant to speak freely, “did you get out in time?”
When Sakura nodded, all of the tension melted from your shoulders. A weary smile lifted your face, pulling at the broken skin on your jaw.
Was this really all you wanted?
Kakashi had a hard time believing that. He just had to wait you out, see what else you wanted, and then get you out. If you stayed, there was every possibility that HYDRA would track you here, and he knew that he couldn’t protect his students against a large-scale ambush. There were too many unknowns to allow you to stay. It went against everything he’d been taught. If you were important enough for them to try and find you, everything that Kakashi had built for himself and his students would come crashing down.
His pity didn’t extend so far that he would risk Sakura’s recapture. Harsh as it was, that was the world that they lived in.
“Sakura,” he placed a hesitant hand on the girl’s shoulder. Despite feeling somewhat assured that you weren’t hostile anymore, you still hadn’t reacted well the last time he’d tried to touch her, “would you give us a few minutes?”
“Can she come out now?” Sakura asked, ignoring the request and looking up at Kakashi, eyes wide and pleading, “there’s an extra room, right? She could use that for now, and then–”
“I can’t stay here, Sakura.”
Your words were a shock, both to Sakura and Kakashi. After the fight you’d been putting up to get to her, you were becoming surprisingly compliant now that you’d gotten your wish.
Sakura looked horrified. She began shaking her head when you pulled away, giving her a sad smile and pushing her hair back where it had fallen into her eyes.
“What?” she breathed. “Of course you can! Where else would you go?”
“I don’t know. But they’re going to be coming after us. If I give them a lead, I can take some of a heat off of you. Distract them for a while so you stay off of their radar.”
“No!”
There was so much ferocity in Sakura’s voice that even Kakashi startled, barely recognizing the girl he knew in the person she had become.
“You promised, Y/N,” she spat fiercely, “you said that we would stay together. You said you would stay with me after we got out!”
“I promised that I would protect you,” you corrected, voice low, “this is how I can do that.”
“By giving yourself back to them?”
“Sakura–”
“I don’t want to hear it,” she spit venomously. “Things are different now. I’m back here with Kakashi and the others, and I’m stronger now. We can both be safe here. Things aren’t the same as when they took me!”
“I know,” you smiled, sad and understanding, “you’re one of the strongest people I know, Sakura. But you have people you care about here, don’t you?”
Sakura didn’t acknowledge the question. She just stood with crossed arms and narrowed eyes.
“I know you want to protect them. If I go, they’ll be safe.”
“I want you to be safe too. Why can’t you just accept that things are okay now? You can let yourself be happy.”
“She’s right, Sakura,” Kakashi finally interjected. Everything about the conversation had felt too personal before. He felt like an intruder in a world that he wasn’t supposed to be seeing, but now you were talking about a bigger picture. This was a picture that he was a part of.
“What?” Sakura turned on her heel and glared angrily at Kakashi. “You...I thought you of all people would be on my side! Isn’t our job to protect people?”
“Sakura, look at me,” you pleaded. Sakura glared at the floor, “please.”
When she finally turned towards you, you tried to smile, but it wasn’t convincing. Kakashi knew you wanted to give in. He could see it in your eyes. It was clear that you would do just about anything for Sakura, but this wasn’t about what she wanted. It was about what needed to be done. Kakashi had learned what that meant over years of experience with loss. He guessed that you had too.
“You’re going to leave again,” Sakura muttered as tears begin to gather at the corners of her eyes. She tried to hold herself together, but it was hard when she was watching you slip through her fingers. It was the second time, and she was just letting it happen. “Last time you left...”
“Last time I left, we were both still prisoners. That’s never going to be the case again.”
Sakura felt a tear escape, but she didn’t stop its descent down her cheek.
“We’re free. We have choices now, and this is what I’m choosing. I choose to protect you and your friends.”
You glanced at Kakashi as you said this. He held your gaze, still and blank.
“Please don’t go,” Sakura pleaded, desperate for you to understand. But there was finality in your eyes. You had already decided.
Something like respect bloomed in Kakashi’s chest. This was what he would’ve done.
“I’m sorry.”
Sakura shook her head, turning on her heel and storming towards the door with a sound between a scoff and a sob. You watched her go with a frown, then glared at Kakashi. He stared back at you with that same, infuriatingly blank expression.
“You change up quick,” he raised a brow. “Just ten minutes ago you looked ready to strangle me.”
“I told you,” you scowled, “I only wanted to make sure that she was safe here. I don’t care what happens to me now.”
“Well, it seems like you’ve already made up your mind,” Kakashi stepped back from the cell, opening up your path to the door. “And I’m more than happy to accommodate your departure. Stay the night if you want. You should leave in the morning, but I’d like some information first.”
You narrowed your eyes at him, taking a tentative step forward and watching for a reaction.
“Just like that?”
“Sure,” he shrugged. He seemed like a completely different person now than when he’d stepped into the room. You supposed that your interaction with Sakura had done enough to convince him of your good intentions, but the change was still dizzying. “But don’t think that you’re off the hook for attacking Naruto. I still don’t trust you, but I won’t make you stay in a cell. You’ll need your strength if you’re going to be a fugitive.”
“How kind.”
Sakura was waiting outside when you trailed Kakashi through the door. He glanced back at you for a moment, and you saw that previous distrust creeping back into his expression. However, when he shifted his gaze to Sakura, it softened, and he turned the corner swiftly.
His footsteps stopped at the end of the hall, but you didn’t hear the sound of a door opening. Within shouting distance, should Sakura need him.
Sakura was fuming, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed and her brows knit together. She looked like she was trying to decide whether she wanted to cry or scream at you. You wouldn’t have been surprised if you got both.
“I’m staying here tonight,” you told her quietly, “and I’ll leave in the morning.”
“Why?” Sakura turned on you, taking your hand and holding it tightly. “Why do you have to go? Shouldn’t we stay together?”
You felt like you were going in circles with her, and you knew that having this conversation again wouldn’t do any good. There was too much risk involved in staying. It didn’t matter how you felt or how much she begged. That fact wouldn’t change, so neither would your plan.
“Sakura,” you croaked, covering her hand with your own, “I don’t know if they have trackers on me. They’ve had enough opportunities that they could’ve put them under my skin. You know what kind of technology they have. Honestly, they might already know where I am.”
“Then they would have put trackers on me too! Then it won’t matter if you’re gone!”
“You were there for four years,” you silenced her, “I’ve been there my whole life. They could’ve done anything to me when I was younger knowing that I wouldn’t remember any pain from a procedure. The scar from the incision would’ve faded by now. I’m in more danger of being found. You know that.”
Sakura just glared at you. Her eyes were swimming with tears, but she was fighting hard to keep them at bay. You brought a hand to her cheek and held it carefully, just like you would do when she was younger and had that same look on her face.
Sakura was the only person you had who you could call your family. You would protect her at any cost, even if it meant leaving her again.
Tumblr media
Hinata was dying.
You’d already driven a knife into her side, and you could see the blood leaking from the corner of her mouth, but she still had the strength to pin you to the ground with her hips, hands wrapping around your throat and squeezing until you couldn’t take in any air.
Her eyes were pained; she looked seconds away from keeling over, but her hands remained tight around your throat. She was putting all of her weight into choking you. She was trying to kill you before she could bleed out. You could see in her eyes that she would do everything in her power to win this match.
Her hair was in front of her face, falling into her eyes. Purple hair...
Pink hair.
You gasped awake, choking on your breath and struggling to inhale. It took you a few seconds to pull yourself from your disorientation, but when you did, you still felt the chill of cold fingers around your throat. When you looked up, Sakura was hovering over you, teeth grit and eyes determined. She looked poised to kill.
“Sa–Sa...ku...ra,” you rasped, wide eyes searching hers for any explanation, but you barely recognized her. She looked devoid of everything but pure anger and hatred.
You’d seen that look many times before. You’d seen it in the eyes of countless girls who’d been convinced that you and the others in the Red Room were enemies rather than allies. Girls who had been forced to kill one another as a test of strength and courage. But this was different. This was the first time you’d seen that look in Sakura’s eyes.
Black spots began to cloud your vision and, at an instinctual level, you knew that if you let yourself fall into unconsciousness, Sakura would kill you.
You gathered your remaining strength and channeled it into your arms, rocking to the side and using the momentum to jab her throat. She gasped, coughing and releasing her iron hold on your throat. When she met your eyes again, there was a foreign determination in them that sent a chill down your spine.
“Sakura, stop!”
Sakura’s lips split into a smile when she heard the deep rasp in your voice. The smile held something sinister. You could see the intent to kill in her eyes; she wanted to see you bleed.
Then, as if a switch had been flipped, she collapsed to the ground. You watched in frozen shock as her eyes rolled back and she fell, and you barely shook yourself from your paralysis in time to cushion her head from the hard floor. Once she landed, the only sounds filling the silence were your wheezing exhales.
Sakura’s face had settled back into one that you recognized, but you couldn’t erase the image of her smile from your mind. It was crooked and slim, just like Orochimaru’s. It was almost an exact replica of the expression that you still remembered so clearly.
“What did he do to you?”

You made a good point of how this staged photoshoot will lead to increased exposure and ticket sales esp ahead of the US tour, because correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think all their US dates are sold out? They’re not as popular in the states and it’s been a couple months since I checked but I only saw a handful of shows that showed sold out. All this just reminds us of a curated version we have of him. Someone who likes privacy and wants to be lowkey doesn’t date attention seekers consistently and calls the paps on themselves. He just lost all credibility he had
Words of wisdom here from a lovely anon and thank you for sharing these thoughts, i agree with every word 💘
I think people generally get very caught up in the whole "alex is a romantic little prince too busy with his mind on clever lines he's innocent and private and not like other celebs and his privacy has been violated" narrative and tend to forget how much of a business this whole thing is.
The primary purpose of any business, be that show business or not, is to make money. The band is an asset that needs to generate revenue. American market has huge potential for that, alas, as the anon above correctly pointed out, very few of the US shows are sold out at this point, just a month ahead of the tour and the sales need to be boosted. The best strategy would definitely be to hype it up a little. American audience seems to be really into the whole straight dominant greaser bad boy persona (where do you think all those endless alex/your name fics with that shitty 50 shades of grey vibes come from?) and the target audience must be catered for. Both parties benefit: Alex gets the publicity of a cool rockstar kind of tired of his fame with a beautiful gf by his side on an expensive posh Italian resort. The pictures will now be all over insta/twitter/tiktok igniting interest in new fans and rekindling the old ones. The girls will fantasise about taking Louise's place in his arms (oh to be a girlfriend of this rich handsome millionaire musician who is also intelligent and talented and famous and who will fuck you like a whore then treat you like a princess!) and the boys will be jealous of him and his beautiful French girlfriend, wanting to be like him (oh to be this rich handsome millionaire and get all the girls!). Some more tickets will be sold, some more records, some more merch, and a couple of tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars will be made. Louise on the other hand, will get more followers and will have more ads, which will also lead to more revenue for her and hence whoever is managing her. Not bad, no?
Alex is usually perceived as a poet with his head in the clouds, an ethereal creature, a poetic and storytelling genius, vulnerable, autistic woodland creature, too exquisite for earthly problems, fragile and defenseless. He is, however, in no way disconnected from reality or too naive not to know how the business works - after all, he's been in it for almost twenty years. And I am supposed to believe his privacy has been violated when it has hardly been violated for the 5 years he was hiding from everyone and no paparazzi whatsoever gave a fuck about him? Oh give me a break. His net worth is estimated to be millions of dollars, same as the band. He is one of the richest rock stars of the generation. I am not saying it is a bad thing - well deserved, he is a genius after all, - but money, even for geniuses, has to be earned. Their music is a product that needs to be sold, and their public image is one of the means to increase those sales.
I do not think that Alex or Louise called the paps themselves last minute - I am pretty sure the whole thing has been set up by the management in advance, with Alex's explicit consent. Again, it is just a marketing strategy which the sales and marketing department decided to go with in order to maximise the revenue. Why would Alex refuse? And please spare me the argument of 'he doesn't need any more money'. Maybe he doesn't (although i am not sure), but the band and the whole machine working for them definitely does as it employs hundreds of people who need to get their paychecks from this whole thing. Mr. Schwarz is staying strong for them, remember?
Once this is all over, the tour is over, the contracts are done and he disappears without a trace, we'll remember this and count how many times paps will ever try to take pictures of him or his gf (zero, mark my words).
Thank you for coming to my ted talk (or thesis defence, more like)♥️

The main OCs of my Heathers AU!
From the bottom left to right onwards:
Kara Sweeney: Ram’s kid sister. A bit bratty but a good kid. Knows her brother is gay and keeps his secret, so long as Ram pays her in Crunch bars. On good terms with Veronica, Martha, Braverman and Sputnik, but likes to tease Kurt.
Charlie Chandler: Red Heather’s baby sister. Shares Red’s smug attitude and superiority complex, though she mostly is just copying her sister as a phase. Likes stealing Red’s scrunchies and is typically wearing them on her wrists, hair and ankles. When at the funeral, Veronica overheard Charlie say to Heather’s corpse it was HER time now, which made Veronica concerned, doubly so when Charlie looked at Veronica and gave her a thumbs up. Adores Veronica and views her as her big sister. Likes to mess with JD and has kicked him in the shin more than once.
Sacha “Specs” Silverman: Part of Veronica’s geeky friend group. His nickname comes from the 3D glasses he’s constantly worn since kindergarten. A huge Star Wars and anime fan, extremely loyal to his friends, and a whiz at computers and electronics. He was the leader of the AV club and delegated Braverman and Jamie tasks suited to their skills. He and MacNamara shared a mutual romantic interest but never dated. Specs became the first tragic murder at Sherwood, being tricked into coming on the roof of the school thinking he was meeting MacNamara, but instead was pushed off the roof by a petty Chandler.
Dan Braverman: The main protagonist among the OC cast. Originally born and raised in Hawkins, Indiana, he came to Sherwood when his stepfather got a better job in Ohio. A cheerful, easy going type who doesn’t let high school cliques and stigmas bother him and happily goes to the beat of his own drum. He (along with Tracey, Cheryl, Specs and JD) is naturally viewed as a threat to the Heathers because he can easily make friends with those from other cliques (Tracey from the stoner faction was the first “non geek” friend he made when he moved into town), and the cliques being divided gives the Heathers their authority. Has an interest in comic art and is usually found reading ALF, Transformers or Disney Ducks comics or drawing comics. Braverman is JD’s best friend, and if we’re being honest, his only friend at the start. The two became close friends during Sophomore year at Hawkins High, and after dealing with a problem involving the Upside Down, Dan unexpectedly moved away leaving JD feeling betrayed. Two years later out of sheer luck, the two boys reunited at Sherwood, Ohio, with new challenges putting their friendship to the test.
Bud Dean Sr.: Jason’s grandfather. His only remaining immediate family after Jocelyn and later Bud died. He came to Sherwood to repossess his late son’s assets taken by police when it was learned Bud Jr’s company was committing fraud. Among the assets Sr. wanted to collect was Jason, and like Bud Jr., only really viewed the boy as property and a tax benefit. Bud Sr. also plans to restart the family company, and groom JD to take over, something JD doesn’t want anything to do with, having finally escaped that nightmare. He comes to the Braverman house unexpectedly one day to pick up his “free loading” grandson, and earns the immediate ire of Cassandra Braverman, Dan’s mother
Elliot “Sputnik” Silverman: Spec’s twin brother. Gained his nickname for his admiration of space exploration. While Specs was older and immature at times, Sputnik was the youngest and the more mature one of the two; however, Sputnik lacked confidence, making him an easy target of bullies. His primary tormentors in high school were Kurt’s group, which all the more stung because Sputnik and Kurt used to be great friends when they were younger. Usually relying on Specs, Veronica, Tracey, Dan or JD to protect him, Sputnik’s world was destroyed when his beloved twin died. Sunk into a near endless depression, and wanting to die, he practically tried to make Kurt punch him so hard he’d succumb to it. Kurt, who had since been changing his ways because of Dan, JD and Specs, instead comically cried uncontrollably which then caused a confused Sputnik to start crying. The two reconcile over grief of their past and losing a loved sibling, and mend their friendship then and there.
Jocelyn Heron-Dean: JD’s late mother. A shy, meek person who is kind and caring to her loved ones but struggles with social situations. She had trouble making friends, but in middle school she met Cassandra, Dan and Liam’s future mother, and the two became fast friends. Jocelyn seemed attracted to those with wild/aggressive personalities, a boon when it came to Casey, but a curse when she became smitten with the rich and good looking Bud Dean, who was in the same class as the girls. Come senior year of high school, Jocelyn was talked into eloping with Bud, leaving town to take over his dad’s construction business. Reluctantly, Jocelyn does so, and never saw Casey again. Nine months later and against Bud’s desire for an abortion, she had Jason. Their relationship soured over time, with the stress of constant moving, Bud’s true, cruel nature becoming more apparent, with Jason being the only bright spot in her life at that point, but even that couldn’t last as her mental health deteriorated. Once again, forced between two rough paths, Jocelyn accepts suicide as her only means of escape, reluctantly leaving Jason with Bud. Prior to this, when Jason was still a baby, she considered divorce and getting in touch with Cassandra somehow so she and Jason could stay with her. She would learn through an old acquaintance that Casey was having her own struggles as a recently single mom with a baby boy of her own, and didn’t want to pile on with her own problems, feeling ashamed she left Casey behind in the first place.
Cassandra “Casey” Braverman: Spunky, loud, and a bit chaotic, but stern and commanding when it matters. A big kid at heart, which makes her one of the very few adults in Sherwood to be sympathetic to Veronica and the others’ problems when they’re brought to her attention. In her teen years, she had a wild streak and was part of rough n’ tumble local biker gang, always looking for a thrill. Her first husband was a man called Clay, who resembled a more fit version of Dan with a handlebar mustache. Dan was not a planned baby (and really neither was Liam later), as Dan was the result of a drunk fling out of wedlock. Casey rolled with it, and figured a kid would be an interesting adventure. She and Jocelyn would become good friends in middle school, Casey made the first move to Jocelyn’s surprise, and were inseparable. She would often drag the shy Jocelyn into crazy adventures, the two having a blast together once Jocelyn loosened up during one. The one thing they disagreed on was Bud Dean: Casey hated him and Jocelyn loved him. They had a fight about it senior year that saw Jocelyn choose Bud, and saw Casey hurt, but for her friend’s sake accept her decision. After Jocelyn ran away, Casey suffered her second major loss in Clay, who died in a horrific motorcycle accident just after Dan was born. After parting ways with her biker friends in Hawkins, Indiana, she worked odd jobs there until she met and fell in love with Roland Braverman, a mostly mild mannered young man who fell for her spunky nature. 16 years later, she gave birth to her second child Liam, and a year after, she met Jocelyn’s son Jason who she happily took in when he needed a place to stay.
Liam Braverman: Dan’s baby half brother. The two share a room and Dan tends to watch over him the most. Martha, Veronica, JD and Kurt have assisted in one form or another in taking care of him, but while Liam loves his big brother the most, he took an interest in JD to the point his first words wound up being “Jay-Jay.”
Cheryl Rodgers: One of the popular kids, though she doesn’t view herself as such, and like Braverman, chats with whoever she pleases with which annoys the Heathers. She’s sweet but tragically dim, not realizing when those like Thrash or Green Heather take advantage of her for their own means. Cheryl hates Heather Chandler, and often Red has to make Green or Gold talk to Cheryl to get her to do something Red wants. She’s part of the cheerleaders and very athletic and very limber which makes her popular with boys. She has something of a male harem kink and has a romantic interest in most of her male classmates, but deep down just wants a sweet, smart guy who respects and cherishes her. Despite this, she has an unhealthy obsession with Thrash and Throttle, the biggest and hunkiest guys on the football team… as well as the most aggressive and cruel. She’s on friendly terms with Veronica and Braverman’s group, and joins them on adventures occasionally.
Roland Braverman: Dan’s stepfather. Mild mannered and kind, but is quick to anger when he gets really stressed out, and has a habit of shouting about what’s bothering him. Is the complete opposite of his wife, and the two will butt heads over matters, but they deeply love each other and find a compromise to a given problem. They’re pry the most stable couple in Sherwood, and are fairly open minded about things the other parents like Ram’s tend not to be. He loves his stepson and son to bits, and works hard to make a good future for them, but his work unfortunately consumes a lot of his time so he’s not around as much since they moved to Sherwood.
Toby Throttle: A cold, quiet, highly perceptive and intelligent type. A member of the football team. Comes from one of the rich families of Sherwood like the Heathers and Ram. While he has everything, he’s cruel and blunt and always seems unhappy, indulging in bullying out of a sick desire to feel something. Throttle appears to hate everyone, even his own parents and little brother, with the only one he seems to care about is his best friend and other half Thrash, and even then that’s peculiar because Throttle particularly hates low income people. He’s the counterpart to the loud, boisterous, simpleminded Kurt, and the one who took him in under his wing come high school.
Terrance Thrash: Arrogant, moody, dim, and violently aggressive. Part of the football team. The stock 70’s-80’s teen movie bully. He’s the middle child of a large low income family and tends to be ignored, freeing him to do as he pleases. Like Throttle, he loves to bully his classmates, and throw his weight around. He truly has peaked in high school, with what could be charitably called his best years behind him already. He’s Heather Chandler’s on again off again boyfriend, and while they mostly use each other for sex, there DOES seem to be genuine love between them ala Pete and Peg from Goof Troop. Between the two boys, Thrash does all of the talking, and is often pointed in the right direction by Red/Green Heather or Throttle to stir up trouble. He’s the counterpart to the marginally more intelligent (by comparison) and thoughtful Ram, taking under his wing come high school. He has a disdain for gays, fat chicks and nerds, though he’s thankfully stupid enough to not realize Kurt and Ram are (secretly) gay.
Kelly Kelly: Kurt Kelly’s older sister. A kind, chatty girl who was very popular and loved, who Kurt admired when he was little. Kelly was the one who helped nurture Kurt’s nerdy and sporty interests, along being the only one at the time who was aware Kurt was more into boys and tried helping him understand those feelings. Tragically, she died in a plane crash along with their mother, with it being suggested Kurt’s fall to bullying and his comical behavior was partly him still grieving over his sister. It took JD beating Kurt up to protect Braverman, Spec’s death and Sputnik’s own despair for Kurt to properly move on and return to his true self.

Weekly Update October 6, 2023
I’ve been very volatile this week, which may continue next week or may not. I don’t know yet. I’ve been on weird cycles of doing a ton of art then doing nothing for a few days. It will probably continue.
So October is started and I’m an impulsive little greedy fuck so I decided to do three different prompt sets, but I’m doing them all differently. OG inktober is getting priority, because I feel bad about failing inktober 52 earlier this year. Maybe I’ll ink or digitize the few of those sketches that I never finished once I’m done, or maybe I won’t. Anywho I’m trying to do inktober daily, more or less. Second priority is goretober, because I need practice and also with life stuff being still weirdly volatile despite all I’ve done, bloody pictures are really cathartic. I’m tagging everything to be extra safe, even though I’m honestly probably over tagging. Idk day one was mouth stuff which really sets some people off so maybe I was overly cautious because of that, but I’d rather be over cautious than get in trouble. Lowest priority prompt set is cringetober, because even though I just kind of avoid most of the stuff on the list naturally due to personal distaste, I still appreciate the spirit of it. Cringe always has a place, even if that place isn’t on my monitor specifically. I’m not doing every prompt from that list because some of them I really can’t figure out anything Oc related (deadass almost gave up for ‘overly complex fit’ and drew Shulk Xenoblade and his ugly ass outfit instead, but decided against it because that’s against the spirit of the prompt set). I still want to fit in as many as I can, and even though most of those will be late, I’m still going to try. At a minimum I want to do the MS paint one that sounds fun.
Also I threw in a random drawing of Stitch this week. Maybe I’ll do other random drawings too, probably not. I’m already pretty behind on stuff.
So I’ve mentioned I’ve been slacking off with TRGA the past couple weeks but I’m trying to get myself back together with it. I’m trying to figure out timing a bit better, and I did finally get some assets I’ve been procrastinating on done. Jon now has actual soles to his feet, and soon Emile will have the sketch lines I’ve been trying to lean into with my art. I can recolor the foot sole asset for Tim and Emile also, although they won’t need it for this animation. I’m mostly at this point messing with actual movement timing and strategies to make the boys more distinct from one another, although I’m probably overthinking it admittedly. The current shot, 1-4, is by far my most complex in this regard, and may be the most complex of the animation, so chances are I’ll post a WIP once the ‘main’ character animation is done. Or maybe not. I’m not sure.
This week hasn’t been the best for personal life so my mood is extremely volatile, so there’s no guarantee anything will be consistent. My plan is to do one inktober drawing and one keyframe/batch of tweens/chunk of work a day for TRGA done every day, and then the additional prompt sets and/or general drawings done whenever possible, but I’m such a mess I can’t guarantee anything. I’m trying to get stuff together with doctors, since they have been telling me pretty good news, but my primary today said something that, while it would be great news, contradicts what a specialist told me. She did outright say to double check with the specialist since they were probably right, but you know how hard it is to get ahold of doctors for that so now I need to worry about that. I’m a mess this semester isn’t going very well, and tomorrow I’ll probably end up doing music instead of art which will suck because I probably won’t have anything to show for that for a while yet.

AMAZON CHALLENGE
Chapter 4:
Artemis- Excellent! Kareena is also pregnant. At this rate, every member of the Amazons will have an heir before me. All this because of Isis's obsession with power. Can't she settle for a cute one and that's it? The only good thing about today was the addition of a musician to my Court, Oletha Vyper. She arrived around midnight, about to have a baby, she came with Nyx. She cried out for shelter and I granted it. Now, I have two more Amazons, her and her little daughter Lyra.
Isis- I failed! Today, I went in search of battle with this Greg. But, I just lost. This should make me sad, but it doesn't, it makes me wishful. I want this power for my heiress. Tomorrow I tried again. What really irritates me is the fact that I'm losing Amazonas more and more. Roxanne is pregnant. Now, so does Kareena. It's only a matter of time before newcomer Nyx Sparrow records too. Even I need to record. This makes everything difficult!
Kareena- I'm Pregnant. The moment is a blessing and a curse. While this perpetuates my lineage in the New Moon and Full Moon Courts, and possibly fulfills my need, it also deepens my sense of urgency to prove myself in battle. I feel useless for now, since I can't fight. We only have two valid warriors now, the Queen and the newcomer, Nyx. Something else bothers me, some kind of instinct. I don't know if I'm capable of abandoning this child if it's a boy…
Ophelia- Change of plans. Two vampires appeared at the door today at midnight. One of them was in labor. The Queens recruited both girls. Now, Glinda has her first child to care for. Furthermore, I discovered that I'm expecting another grandchild, not just another child of Hercules. Now, Kareena is pregnant. One step closer to my goals

The Most Underrated Companies to Follow in the what is a swinger club Industry
How Frequently Does Your Swingers Group Make Your Neighbors Say That
This introductory book will guide you through the basics of swinging for couples. In fact, they’ve enjoyed that aspect of their relationship so much they're writing a comedy series together based on their swinging lifestyle. Like you, my partner had been exposed to the lifestyle before me, so it took my partner time while I navigated my way through this alteration. This step was imperative because I needed to know that opening our relationship was going to serve to enhance our partnership and become an asset rather than a deficit. I received this confirmation through my partner’s patience.
Browse our wide selection of new and gently used books - textbooks, children's books, mystery books, novels, book series, fiction, non-fiction, hard-to-find books, and out-of-print books. For those of you who have been involved in the lifestyle and wish to start your own swingers club, or throw successful swingers parties, we will cover those topics as well. You will be happy to find that we have a list of themes as well as contests you can use for your party or event. Have fun experimenting and finding positions of your own. I know from personal experience the emotional overload that occurs when initially navigating exactly how to open a relationship through swinging. Flappers beat the old stereotype that smoking, drinking, and one night stands were just for boys.

Mutualism is perhaps the most relevant and important relationship any two, or more, people can have, as they are both benefitted from it. In the case of the movie The Mighty, Kevin and Max are the best of friends, considering the mutualistic relationship between them shown in the movie. While "open relationship" is sometimes used as a synonym for "polyamory" or "polyamorous relationship", the terms are not synonymous. Some couples report that open marriage contributed to their divorces. Janus and Janus asked divorced people to list the one primary reason for their divorces. Approximately 1 percent of men and 2 percent of women listed open marriage as the primary reason for their divorce. This seems like a small percentage, but keep in mind that only 1 to 6 percent of the population have open marriages.

Other tools that couples utilize in the negotiation process include allowing partners to veto new relationships, prior permission, and interaction between partners. This helps to reassure each partner in the relationship that their opinion is important and matters. However, although ability to veto can be a useful tool in negotiation, a successful negotiation and open relationship can still occur without it. Some reject veto power because they believe it limits their partner from experiencing a new relationship and limits their freedom. The most successful relationships have been those that take longer to establish.
The ice breakers are also meant to point everyone in the direction of the bedroom, with "In touch" being the most pointed, especially the dark finale. I also want to point out that just because you elect to be in an open relationship or swingers’ lifestyle, this does not mean you have to “play” the same amount as your partner. I know plenty of people in the lifestyle who are perfectly satisfied with their partner having playmates while they watch. My partner and I, for instance, go on separate dates quite often.

Although there were many who harshly criticized Presley for his performance, it could not affect his impact on the culture, and his obvious talent.
