Okay, I know this doesn’t look like much but I ordered some Primula auricula seeds from Ireland in December of 2020, started them in pots under lights in the basement, put them out on the porch this past winter because they need a good freeze, and finally out of all of them this is the only one to bloom. You could see that as failure but I’m excited about it. I was kind of hoping it would be brown edged with white or something like that but it was a mix and this one turned out yellow. I think I learned enough from doing it so that I could do better next time but I’m not sure I’ll try. Still it’s tempting to try for some of the more exotic-looking ones!

Easter weekend surprise: one of the Primula auricula plants that I had written off is blooming! Only a single flower but look at that color. I’m thrilled. ✨💜
