Bucky almost seems the same with the exception in the way he carries himself. Once confident and jovial, he’s become more quiet and humble. Someone who would rather spend his time in the outskirts of a party than in the middle of it all.
It explains why you hadn’t seen him until now. He waited for everyone to be gone before coming down.
“You really haven’t changed,” Bucky states once you receive your drinks. He motions for you to take a seat at the bar and so you do. “You look exactly the same as the first time I met you.”
“I’m pretty sure I was covered in mud and grime when we first met,” you recall. “So I would consider this an upgrade.”
“Right,” Bucky lets out a short laugh. “But still, it’s nice to see that some things haven’t changed.”
“Yeah,” you sigh. “Steve was relieved when he saw me again. It helped him to have some piece of his life back even though everything was turned inside out and upside down for him. I assume it’s the same for you after… well, after what you’ve been through.”
Bucky goes silent and stares into his drink solemnly.
“We don’t have to talk about that,” you offer up to him. “I’ve heard enough and you don’t need to relive any of those details. I’m just happy that chapter of your life is over.”
“Cheers to that,” Bucky mutters, clinking his glass with yours before taking a drink. “So, onto livelier topics, how about, uh, we talk about you?”
“Please don’t tell me you want to know my true age.”
“That is actually the only thing I wanted to know,” Bucky jokes. “Rude? I know, but I just…”
You shove him but Bucky doesn’t move an inch.
“I’m older than you and that’s all you need to know.”
“Ok,” Bucky nods. “And you’re… Steve said half-human, half-Asgardian?”
“Yes,” you answer. “A demi-god to make it simpler.”
Bucky takes a second to register the information.
“Huh, after all I’ve been through I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that.”
“Yeah, being in the presence of a God tends to render people speechless.”
“No, it’s not that exactly. It’s more about the fact that I was dating one that’s blowing my mind.”
“Well, dating seems like a reach…”
“Please don’t ruin this for me,” Bucky interrupts, causing you to laugh at the growing blush on his cheeks. “This is the peak of my existence. Nothing I ever do or have done will outshine this moment in our history. A rascal of a boy from Brooklyn having dated the daughter of Aphrodite herself.”
“Ever the flirt, Barnes,” you giggle. “ I never really stood a chance against you.”
There’s a silence that follows. It’s comfortable at first, but you both inevitably look away. As if you both realize how easy it was to fall back into old ways but how unfamiliar the motions felt now.
Bucky’s hand reaches for yours and you go still. You hadn’t realized you had been fidgeting with the half-empty glass.
“We might look the same but we’re completely different now, huh?”
There is a sudden wave of grief that lapses over you. It takes you by surprise seeing as he’s still right next to you. You feel the warmth of his hand and watch his chest rise and fall with each breath. He’s not gone, but you lost him all the same.
“I’m sorry,” you apologize to him. “It seems like the passing of time has indeed taken another victim.”
“I know,” he whispers as he lets your hand go. “I’m just an echo of the man I was back then.”
“It’s not you,” you sigh. “It’s me.”
You half-smile at him and lean into the palm of your hand.
“I’ve always kept you at a distance. For your sake, but mainly for mine. I… I can admit now that I was selfish with you. I was lonely and afraid of my mortality and I needed a way out of that and it was you. You are…”
There is a knot in your throat but you fight through it
“You are a light, Bucky. In the darkness I was in, you were the light at the end of that very long tunnel. That hasn’t changed and it will never change. So thank you for sharing that glow with me in the time I needed it the most.”
“I think that’s the nicest thing I’ve ever been told in my entire life,” Bucky answers breathlessly. “Always know how to punch the air out of my lungs.”
“It’s the truth,” you tell him.
“I sense a but coming though…”
“No, there is just an apology left to say because I am sorry that we can’t pick up where we left off. At the moment you need some light of your own, I can't be that for you.”
Bucky smiles in response, “I never expected us to return where we left off. I have too much baggage and I’m sure you’ve moved on from me a long time ago.”
“I-” you stammer out. “I mean-”
You don’t know why your gaze shifts toward the balcony and you go silent when you realize that it's empty now.
Where did Loki go?
You can’t help but search for him and find him speaking to his brother before making his way out.
“Buck, I’m sorry, but I have to go…”
Bucky is quick to notice where you focus has gone to and simply smiles once again.
“Go,” he tells you. “You should go.”
“Thank you. I’ll explain everything later,” you promise him as you get out of your seat.
“I prefer you didn’t,” he jokes. “But seriously, go. I’ll tell everyone you had to leave.”
You whisper your gratitude again before slipping away from the room. You don’t miss the smirk Natasha gives you as you run down the hallway. You watch as the elevator doors are closing and shout for Loki to hold them.
He doesn’t.
It doesn’t matter though as you manage to slip through the closing elevator doors.
“Well that’s awfully rude of you,” you say as you try to catch your breath. “No wonder people think you’re unapproachable.”
Loki just glares at you, “What are you doing?”
“Chasing after you if it isn’t obvious,” you answer. “You left without saying goodbye to me.”
“I didn’t realize I had to.”
His demeanor is cold and you wonder how you manage to fall back onto square one.
“I wish you had,” you tell him. “Save me from running after you in these heels.”
Loki’s scowl doesn’t soften, instead he breathes out of his nose loudly.
“What are you doing here?” he asks. “You were clearly enjoying your time with the soldier. Why are you here with me now?”
“Because you-” you whisper trying to figure out why your mouth has suddenly turned dry. “Because we…”
You don’t know how to put what you’re feeling into words. It was as if you were being pulled into a riptide. Just being pulled and dragged in all different directions. This was all so new to you. Staying instead of running away.
“Because I don’t want this night to end,” you answer. “So I thought we could um- go get dinner maybe?”
“Dinner?” Loki asks in surprise.
“Yeah, dinner,” you repeat. “I know this taco truck two blocks away.”
“Tacos?”
“Loki, why are you repeating everything I say?”
“Because I’m trying to make sense of what’s happening.”
The doors to the elevator open and Loki sighs before moving to leave. You’re quick to block him.
“What are you doing now?”
“I’m trying to talk to you and you’re shutting me down so I’m really doubting what I’m actually doing right now because I really thought we had something going but maybe I read everything wrong. Oh God, now I’m mortified.”
You step away and allow Loki his much desired departure.
He takes a step forward and stops right in front of you. You’re afraid to look up but you can feel his gaze settled on you.
The elevator doors close again and he’s quick to push the lobby button.
“Tacos, you said?”
“Yeah,” you whisper when you finally muster the courage to look up at him. The scowl is gone and his face has softened once more. “Yeah and maybe we could um… we can talk about Asgard.”
“Just Asgard?” he repeats with a grin.
“Yeah, Asgard,” you answered with a laugh. “We can talk about Asgard and more of our childhood traumas and…”
“Can I just kiss you now?”
“Yes, please.”
Loki’s delicate as he pulls your face up and presses his lips on yours. The tension that was all over your body disappears as you realize this was exactly what you were looking for. You melt into him and he’s quick to hold you upright as his lips continue to dance upon yours.
He pulls away too soon for your liking but he doesn’t go too far. You feel his nose bump against yours. His warm breath fanning over your face.
“What are you waiting for?” you whisper. “Kiss me again.”
Loki just sighs as he tucks some loose strands away.
“Just let me admire you,” he answers. “I thought I would never get to have you like this.”
He laughs quietly.
“I was trying to be selfless, you know.”
“You were?” you ask surprised.
“I saw you with… Bucky and I couldn’t intrude in your happiness.”
“He’s just a friend,” you explain to him. “I am happy to see him but it’s a different kind of happiness.”
“And what do you feel about me?”
The elevator doors open and you can’t help but step out onto the lobby. Loki’s quick to follow after you, pulling off his coat with the intent of placing it over your shoulders before you step outside.
“I can tell you more about my feelings on the way to the taco truck,” you tell him. “Or maybe…”
“Maybe what?” Loki asks as he catches up to you. His coat is placed on your shoulders before he opens the door.
“Maybe I can show you.”
You’re quick to push up on your toes and place a chaste kiss on his lips before grabbing his hand and leading him down the road.
“So about that trip to Asgard,” you begin. “How soon can we go?”
“We could go now if you desire.”
“Later,” you tell him as you look up at the distant stars. “I wanna stay here a little longer.”

Loki's Silent Sentry (Part 4)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3
Pairing: Loki x female reader (ofc)
Summary: You are not just a soldier in Asgard's Royal Army, you are Lieutenant Y/L/N, Prince Loki's personal guard, his sentry and you are not supposed to fall in love with him. If you followed your training properly, you should never have even spoken to him. As a sentry, you are expected to remain silent and invisible as you shadow your appointed member of the royal family or member of the court protectively throughout their daily tasks.
Rumors (that happen to be true) begin to circulate through the palace that you serve the younger prince of Asgard both outside and inside his chambers. There is little you can do once word of your off duty activities spread through every maid, cook, gardener and seamstress in the palace. You soon find even the soldiers in your own company are now questioning how exactly you had come to earn your seemingly quick rise to lieutenant.
As the annual Winter Solstice Ball approaches, you come to the heartbreaking realization that your relationship with Loki must come to an end if you are both to fulfill your duties.
Warnings: Angst, arguing, Thor trying to be a better brother, Odin being a terrible father... I lied about the fluff... it's not in this part lol but it's coming I swear 💚 I know this part is short but it was getting way too long so I keep breaking it up
Tumblr media
"No! He can't do this," you think angrily. Your mind is spinning and your heart races. How could he take this away from his own son.
"You dare to tell me what I can and can not do!?" the king asks in a booming voice and you suddenly freeze.
You look at Loki, his eyes filled with fear and realize you didn't think that, you said it out loud. Odin slowly takes a step forward and you fight the urge to turn and run.
The only sounds you can hear in the crowded room are Odin's heavy footsteps as he decends the stairs and the pounding of your heart. Loki slips his hand free from yours as his father comes closer, he moves to stand in front of you protectively. It does nothing to stop the king, however, his eyes are fixed on you.
The king glares at you and says, "This does not concern you."
You don't know what gives you the strength or courage but you find yourself taking a step forward so you are next to Loki. He glances at you and you can tell he is obviously worried but you stand tall in front of the king and the whole council. You take Loki's hand again and answer Odin, "This concerns me because your ruling effects Loki's future and I care about him, unlike you or would seem."
Loki pulls you closer to him and further from his father but neither of you back away from the king.
"It is now becoming even clearer why we need to update the marriage law," Odin states, looking at the members of the council. He looks directly at Loki, "The prince does not understand his duty to this kingdom and that marriage is not to be taken lightly." Then he looks at you, "And you do not know your place."
"My place is with your son," you tell him.
"And my place is with Y/N," Loki adds in agreement.
A council member to your right says, "Prince Loki, you may think your place is with this soldier but you have a responsibility to follow the king's orders, as do we all."
You feel your chest tighten, you already know the answer to that question. You had spent many nights wondering if you were good enough for Loki.
"Is this really about my obligations as a prince?" he asks the council, "Or do you simply not think Y/N is worthy of my hand in marriage?"
"Lieutenant is barely an officer," an older woman says.
"If we take into account her family's years of service and the ranks they reached, we can easily assume she will at least rise to major like her parents before her," a younger man counters.
"Not for many, many years," another man responds.
"The law only states that a soldier must be a captain, that's clearly an obtainable rank," a woman you barely recognize defends you.
"But she is not yet a captain," someone argues. The chatter and disagreements begin to mix together and become louder as each person fights to have their opinion heard.
You keep your hand in Loki's, holding onto him to keep your bearings as you try to follow the numerous conversations. He squeezes your hand gently and you look up at him. He tries to give you a reassuring smile but you can clearly see he is as nervous as you are. None of this has gone the way he had planned and you are both terrified of what could happen.
"Enough of this!" Odin raises his voice, causing the room to go quiet in an instant. "I have made my decision."
"Father, please. Don't do this to us," Loki begs his father but the king seems unphased by how much he is hurting his son.
"Your highness-" you start but can't finish your thought.
"One more word from you..." he threatens and you become quiet, moving closer to Loki.
The queen moves forward, you had almost forgotten she was in the throne room as she sat quietly and observed the arguments. You and Loki both look at her with a mixture of hope and desperation. Is she going to overrule the king as she had when he wanted to send you away? Does she have a clever suggestion to keep you together? Is she going to agree with her husband? Your mind races as you wait for her to speak.
"I wish to hear what Lieutenant Y/L/N has to say," she says calmly.
Odin turns to look at his wife and something in his demeanor changes. You can't tell if he loves his wife but you can see he respects her enough to not challenge her in front of the council. He looks back at you and waves his hand slightly, "Very well, but these will be your final words in my presence."
You swallow hard and Loki squeezes your hand again to make sure you know you have his support.
"I love Asgard and I have dedicated my life to serving the crown and this kingdom," you begin, unsure of where you are going. "I admit, I am at a loss to discover that this means little to you. I have fought to protect the Bifrost, I have shed blood defending our outposts, I am willing to die in place of the royal family as a sworn sentry. Does this truly make me less worthy of marrying Loki than a woman who was born into one of the council families purly by chance?"
The members of the council begin to whisper again, discussing the question you posed but your attention turns to Loki. You keep your eyes locked on his and tell him, "I don't know what will happen but I need you to know that I will never stop loving you, even if they pull us apart."
"I will never let them take you from me, I promise," he says and you believe him with your whole heart.
Tumblr media
The queen nods when you look back towards her but she looks heartbroken for her son and you fear she won't interfere again.
"Now, let us put this nonsense behind us and-" the king begins.
"Wait," Thor interrupts him as gasps spread through the crowd. Now it is Thor who approaches the edge of the throne. Odin glares at his oldest son but says nothing, allowing him to continue.
"I think it would be wise to explain why you truly want to disregard the existing law," he says.
"I have made my opinion on the matter perfectly clear and above all else, it is simply outdated," Odin answers but you can tell the council members are not sure that is the whole truth.
"If you do not tell them," Thor threatens calmly, "I will."
"What are you talking about brother?" Loki asks, his voice full of confusion.
Before Thor can respond, Odin says, "You will do no such thing."
Thor pauses for a moment as if weighting the pros and cons of disobeying his father and you hold your breath while he decides. He avoids Odin's stare and looks at you and Loki. "Loki," he starts.
"Stop this now," Odin commands.
Thor doesn't stop, "We knew about this law, we have for years."
"What?" Loki takes a small step back in shock. "You knew and you said nothing? Even after you knew how I felt about Y/N?"
"Yes but there was nothing to be done," his brother explains. "Even if I had told you, you would still never be allowed to marry her."
"Why not? Why are we being punished?" Loki asks desperately looking from his brother to his father and back at Thor.
"You are not being punished, you are being used as a pawn," Thor says, looking down as if he is ashamed to admit the truth. The queen looks to Odin, her eyes full of questions. The council begins to whisper again as they attempt to figure out if anyone knows what Thor is referring to.
"A pawn," Loki repeats, his eyes unfocused as he stares at the floor. You hold him tightly, hoping to bring his attention back to you.
Tumblr media
"Everyone out!" Odin orders the council to clear the throne room but no one moves.
"What is Prince Thor saying?" one person asks. "A pawn in what game?" asks another. Dozens of questions fly through the air until Loki finally looks up again.
"Brother," he says and the room goes silent. "Please, tell me what you mean? That I am to be used?"
"I'm sorry Loki," he says and your heart pounds faster. "You can't marry Y/N, because you have been promised to another."

To Have and To Hold - Chapter 8
THaTH Masterlist Complete Masterlist
Summary: Loki and Violet reunite. Violet gives birth. A/N: I wanna give a big thanks to @michelleleewise and @lokisgoodgirl for being my BETA readers and for helping me along with my unhinged ideas. Pairing: Loki x OFC/Reader Word Count: Over 1.8K Tags/Warnings: Pregnancy. Early labor. Pain. Dividers by: @firefly-graphics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pain was blinding. Your vision was fading around the edges as you tried to focus on something, anything that might relieve the pressure taking over your lower body.  It was as if God himself wrapped his hand around your pelvis and back and squeezed. It came in full force, and He was not giving you any mercy.
You were taken to a brightly lit room. There were many people in black orderly uniforms standing alongside the walls, ready and willing to be of service. Two of them tended to you and took you away from Thor’s embrace. Hands were flying everywhere as they stripped you and placed you in a lightweight silk shift.
“Loki? Where’s Loki?” you cried out.
“Thor, fetch your brother,” Frigga whispered.
“But Father would never allow that,” he answered.
“I’ll deal with your father. You get Loki here any way you can. Do you hear me?”
“Yes, Mother.” Thor nodded as he ran out of the room.
“It’s too early. It’s too early,” you kept repeating to Bruce who was holding onto your hand.
“Vee, it’s gonna be ok.” Bruce squeezed your hand, and rubbed your shoulders, comforting you the only way he knew.
“Why…how, Bruce? It’s too early. Please…” you cried. “My baby.”
“I…I don’t know, Vee. But right now, let’s focus on getting that baby out.” He nodded, his nerves betraying him. “I’m sorry I’m not Loki. But I’ll be here for as long as you need me, ok?” You nodded as you breathed through your mouth.
In. Out. In. Out. The occasional screams of agony tear from your lungs as you try to wrap your head around what’s happening.
“Lady Violet, my name is Gilda. I’ll be your midwife today.” The woman said to you gently. You nodded at her while keeping Bruce right by your side. “We have set up the healer’s bath as a birthing pool for you, milady. The soul forge on top would be able to help us assess the baby and help you along. All right?” You nodded and agreed. “Ok let’s get you in.” Gilda went to your opposite side and helped walk you along to the bath.
“Do Asgardians normally give water births?” you asked, your curiosity winning over your wincing pain.
“Some do, milady. However, it is the preferred method of the Jotunns. And since…” Gilda looked up at you, contrite. “I apologize for being so bold, milady.”
“That’s all right. Since the baby is half Jotunn, you thought it would be significant to honor this method. I appreciate the fore…aaaahhhhhgggg…the forethought,” you screamed.
“Your contractions are getting closer together. Let’s get the soul forge over you and we can begin.”
“No! Wait! Loki. I need Loki. Please,” you begged.
“There isn’t much time, milady.”
Tumblr media
Thor ran down the corridor. Beings of all shapes and sizes hollered and screamed at the sight of the god of thunder. Some were loud and angry for being put in there by the prince himself.
Thor descended one more flight of stairs until he found the one Loki was in privately. His cell was bright and furnished. A contrast to the dark and desperate appearance of Loki wallowing in the corner of the cell.
“Loki…” Thor huffed.
“You’re a tad too late, brother. The sentencing was done hours ago. It was stupendous!” Loki’s crooked smile didn’t reach his eyes.
“Loki!”
“I believe, Father tried to sell tickets…”
“LOKI! Will you shut your insufferable mouth for just one moment?!” Thor yelled and suddenly looked around to see if there were any guards in sight. Thor placed his hands on the lock by the door and the electric borders fell.
“What are you doing?” Loki asked confused. He got up, ready to run, not wanting to waste any time.
“I arrived with Bruce and Violet moments ago.”
“Violet is here?!” Loki asked shocked.
“Yes. She is in labor. Come I’ll fill you in on the way.”
“Where? What room?”
“Healer’s temple. The baths.” Thor said only seconds before Loki grabbed his arm and transported both of them into the hallway of the temple. Thor looked around to orient himself and pointed at the door to his left.
Loki didn’t waste any time as he opened the door and searched the vast room for you. Healers and dignitaries crowded around to bear witness to the birth of the next royal line. He heard you first before he saw you. Your screams of pain were loud and heartrending. “Darling.” He said pushing through the crowd. Running over to you. Reaching for you.
“Loki? Loki!” You held your hand out reaching for him too. And as you both crossed your fingers together and finally held each other, a sense of peace entered your body, making you lose your breath and hitch. He was here and he felt like home. Memories of those long nights sneaking behind the compound where his hands, the same hands that caressed your cheek and held your face, were now finally holding you.
Tears fell down your face as you held on to him tighter. You were afraid that if you let go, he would disappear. And you didn’t think you could handle that right now. “My beautiful Violet. I’m here. I’m here,” he whispered, leaning over you and kissing your forehead.  Loki started looking around. “Who the hell are all these people? Did you want them here?”
“I…I don’t know. I just thought…they needed to be here…” you answered.
“Everybody out!” Loki screamed as he pointed to the door.
“All right, you heard him! Anybody who is not necessary, out!” Thor yelled, ushering other bystanders and chambermaids. Frigga hugged both you and Loki tightly before leaving the room. Thor clapped his brother on the shoulder for support and followed his mother out.
“Loki. I watched her as best I could.” Bruce came up to him.
He shook Bruce’s hand, “I am grateful to you, my friend. I can never thank you enough for all that you’ve done for me…and my family.” Loki said holding you tighter. Bruce gave you a small kiss on the cheek as he said goodbye too and left the room. The only people who were left were Gilda and two other nursemaids.
Loki stripped bare down to his tunic. “Are you ready, my heart?” He asked as he picked you up and carried you over to the large tub. You shook your head as more tears fell from your face. You held on to your stomach as he lowered you down into the warm water. You were submerged up to your chest in the shallow tub. The shimmering fabric of your tunic floated around you like a halo making you look ethereal.
Loki stepped in shortly after you, making you pause. He pulled you gently in front of him as he sat behind you and cradled you in between his legs.
“I’m never letting you go again.” He said adamantly in your ear. You relaxed into Loki, his strong hands cradling your hips. His lean frame protecting you, lifting you up and supporting you, reminding you that you didn’t have to do this alone.
“I’m sorry, Loki,” you started to cry. “I’m so sorry.” You repeated the words in between your screams. Over and over. Loki shushed you wiping your tears, a useless endeavor with his wet hands.
Gilda stood at the foot of the tub as the two maidens placed the soul forge above you. She took one look at it and was about to say something, but you had screamed at the top of your lungs. You grabbed Loki’s knees and squeezed. Your fingernails digging into his skin.
“Ok, milady. Push.” Gilda ordered, kneeling down and reaching into the water.
“I’ve got you, Violet,” Loki said into your ear. You nodded, answering his devotion as you screamed out some more. Your head rolled back as he wiped the sweat off your brows. “You’re doing great, my love.”
After what seemed like hours of pushing, and breathing, you felt momentary relief. You felt your life, all the love and knowledge you had acquired since your birth, pushed out of your body. Your breathing came in easier but was still ragged. You sobbed when you saw Gilda pull your babe from the waters and heard the first cries of your newborn child.
Loki held onto your face, kissing you endlessly, sighing soft praises to you. “You did it, my love. You did it. You are radiant, mother goddess.”
You cried, extending your arms out to hold your baby. Gilda handed it to one of the maidens. “Tressa, place this mirakel in one of the smaller soul forges.” Gilda turned to you, seeing your look of anger and disappointment. “Not yet, milady. You still have one more to deliver.”
“One more?!” both you and Loki yelled out instantaneously. As if it were being summoned, you felt another contraction. Gilda pointed to the soul forge atop of you. “I was going to mention it, but there was no time.” You both looked up, and the quantum field generator showed you an image of another small baby, still inside your body.
“Are you ready to push again?” Gilda smiled.
You nodded, as you barred down and held onto Loki’s hands. His nose running alongside your face, whispering nothing but encouraging words to you. “My darling Violet,” he chuckled. “Always giving me more love back than I give you.” He kissed your temple. “Two miracles in one. I will forever be grateful.” With those beautiful words, you felt his love. You pushed one last time and the third love of your life was born.
You were so exhausted. So overwhelmed. Gilda took the baby and handed it to another maiden who wrapped them and placed them lovingly in the soul forge along with their sibling.
“I want to see them,” you cried.
“You will, milady. But let’s clean you up first.” Gilda instructed. In an instant, Loki picked you up and transferred you over to another tub. The clean waters ran over you and Loki as he joined you.
“Gilda, please tend to the babies. I will look after my wife.” He said in a low voice.
“As you wish your highness,” she said smiling. “Shall I inform her majesty, the Queen?”
“Yes, please. But no visitors at this time.”
“Yes, your highness.” Gilda left to tend to the babies, while one of the handmaidens delivered Loki’s announcement.
Loki’s voice was soothing and gentle as he washed your body. He took great care with you and healed what he could. “I’m afraid the rest will have to be looked at by Gilda or perhaps one of the other healers. Do you feel all right, darling?” he asked.
With fatigue creeping its way to you and the events of the last two days overwhelming you, you couldn’t help but give in to the tiredness. You nodded your head and closed your eyes.
“Sleep, then. I’ll watch over you. I’ll watch over our family.”

Hi, um idk if you’re in the mood to write this and you don’t have to if you don’t feel the energy to, but could I request a story where its Latino male reader x Loki?
Like where its smut and the plot is that the reader speaks Spanish everytime he and Loki “do it” just to tease and fluster Loki, and the reader always feels proud of himself.
But a few nights go by and Loki really wants to learn how to speak Spanish; not only because it can be a way to communicate with the reader better but to get back at him and remind him who’s in power. (So like a smut and power kink story basically). And Loki takes lessons from one of the readers’ family members (but they don’t tell the member the reason ofc)
And then when the night comes, and the reader and Loki are invited to come to this super fancy party with the Avengers, and the whole night, the reader decides to tease Loki discreetly and later, Loki can’t tolerate it any longer so they both teleport back to the tower, and blah blah blah they start to have steamy sex.
Loki then decides to tease him and starts whispering Spanish in his ear all seductively: and suddenly the reader gets all shy. And then they do it, and the end there’s the obvi aftercare, and they live happily ever after :)
(Idk if you do POC readers, but I’m asking bc I haven’t seen barely any that do. I know this was a lot and in detail so I deeply apologize for that. Again, you don’t have to do this cuz ik you have a busy life rn or u just don’t feel like doing it. Have a good morning/night! :D)

"Focus, Carino."
You hummed, Looking down at Loki's disheveled state below you, tendrils of black hair sticking to his pale forehead, Mouth hung agape as your hips bounced on his.
"Love- slow do—ah~ slow down~"
Loki whined, Slender fingers holding your hips, though he begged he never stopped rutting into you, Tip grazing your prostate each time your body connected with his.
Grabbing one of his hands, you placed it on your lower abdomen, letting him feel as tip rutted near your stomach.
"Siente lo profundo que eres mi rey~"
You said, feeling your end draw near, your words failing you as you fucked yourself on Loki, Stroking your twitching length, White spurting from your head and onto Loki's stomach.
"Fuck, That felt amazing Carino."
You hummed into his ear, smiling as his pale skin became even more red than it had been, kissing his cheek before hopping off of him.
"I'm gonna take a shower, Amor, Feel free to join me~"
You said, your voice trailing away, Leaving Loki to clean up after himself, Stuck in his thoughts, Never understanding what you were saying, He felt so lost.
He needed to show who was in control.
But how? Thor didn't know anything, He wouldn't expect him to, And he wasn't going to ask any of the Avengers, Definitely not.
Who did he know, Who knew Spanish?
"Oh! Ohoho.. My prince is going to regret this."
Loki muttered under his breath, becoming quiet as he dressed himself, Contacting a certain someone Via. Your silly human devices.
"What are you doing, Amor?"
You asked, slinking over to your dresser and slipping pajamas on, Slyly revealing bits and pieces of yourself as you did.
"Oh nothing my prince, Just thinking."
Loki hummed, Placing the phone aside, opening up his arms to welcome you into them, hands hugging around your waist, his peachy lips kissing your forehead.
"You should rest, my love, You heroes are always so busy."
Loki hummed, rolling you over with him, spooning you in his tall figure, letting him bring a blanket over the two of you and drifting off to sleep in his arms.
It had been a few weeks since then, Being that you were busy, You hardly noticed Loki's absence from your shared flat.
As days went on as per usual, Tony had decided to throw a party in the Tower, Even though you had wished to rest in your flat, maybe go out to dinner with Loki, you had agreed, and Loki—Although Hesitantly—Agreed to go aswell.
The party consisted of most of the Avengers, and some people you didn't know that you assumed were invited by Tony, though you didn't care to engage with them either way.
"Whiskey, Please."
You said to the bartender, crossing a leg over the other, leaning into Loki's presence beside you.
"Make it two."
He hummed, the bartender nodding and pouring your drinks, passing them to you both before walking off to deal with other people at the bar.
"You're deep in thought, Carino, es lindo."
You said, looking at him smugly.
"Thinking of all the the things we could be doing if we weren't here."
"Me encantaría que me jodas sin sentido ahora mismo, amor."
You whispered in his ear, swirling the amber liquid in your glass before downing it, returning the glass to the bar, where the bartender poured it another round and shuffled off again.
"No me gustaría nada más que eso."
Loki hummed back, Eyeing your face as it contorted into shock, Standing from his seat and downing his drink, grasping your hand and weaving throughout the tower, finding one of the guest rooms, and hurrying inside.
Quickly shutting the door by pressing your back against it, he wasted no time locking the door and putting his hands on you, lips sloppily smashing with yours.
Tongues sliding against one another, the taste of alcohol still tingling on your tongue, tugging on Loki's suit, whining as he pulled away from you, clasping your wrists in one hand above your head.
"ah ah ah, Amor, I'm the one in charge, no olvides."
He hummed, pressing his knee between your legs, though using his free hand to keep your hips pinned to the wall, forcing you to take what friction he gave, his mouth closing in on your neck.
"You smell sweet, Mi amor, Delicious.."
He groaned, rolling his thigh against your groin, prompting a sweet sigh from your lips, your attempts to rut against him hopeless.
Magic tingled through your body, making it hot and on point, your body staying pinned as it was even without Loki's hands on you.
"You look adorable like that, Carino, aunque te ves mas lindo sin ropa."
And in a blink of an eye, he pulled off your blazer, tugging your tie off, then your shoes, and so on until you were bare, save for your button up and briefs, erection pressed against the stretchy fabric.
"Loki- ah~! We- we can't do this here.. someone will find us.."
You squirmed, body flushed as Loki sent waves of magic through your body with every touch he made, and you couldn't fight it.
"I wouldn't mind that, Darling, Someone seeing you get corrected for thinking you're in control."
Fingers danced around the hem of your briefs, slipping up your shirt and running over your nipples, thumb pads stroking the erect buds.
"No matter how many times I play with these, you never do seem to get used to it."
Loki sighed, the shocking waves of pain and pleasure forcing your back off the door as he pinched the bud.
"Let's take this to the bed, Shall we, Carino?"
He hummed, hand guiding your movements to lay on the bed, body shaking with anticipation, Precum spilling out of your cock head and staining into your briefs.
"Darling, You're making a mess, Let's clean that up, Shall we?"
Kneeling down on the bed, he pulled your briefs off tantalizingly slow, his smirk becoming wider—if possible—as your cock slipped free of it's constraints, twitching as it was met with cold air.
"Loki... "
"Shhh... amor, don't speak unless spoken to, understand?"
"Y- Yes sir..."
"Ooh.. sir? I like that name."
Loki hummed, the tip of his index finger teasing the slit of your cock, trailing down your length before pulling away, leaving you to whine in his absence.
"Now, tell me my prince, what would you like me to do?"
"Fuck me... Please.."
You whimpered, arms straining with a need to hold Loki, as if you feared he might up and leave just to toy with you.
"como quieras, mi amor."
In swift movements, Loki threw tossed his blazer off, rolling the sleeves of his button up to his upper arm, Unbuttoning his black dress pants and pushing down his briefs, his dick presenting itself eagerly.
Sitting on his shins, one hand slipped underneath your knee, holding your leg up, the other guiding his cock to slip inside of you, eyes trailing up to yours with a gentle smile before pushing in, causing your breath to thin.
"Ooo... Fuck-"
"No, Talking, Carino, Break the rules again and I'll have to punish you."
"Yes- Yes sir.."
"Good."
He hummed, hugging his arm around your thigh and pulling your ass to connect with his hips, your leg resting over his shoulder while the other one sat beside his thigh.
"Te sientes tan caliente por dentro, My prince."
He sighed, running a free hand over your stomach, Magic seeping out of you as you found your hands no longer stuck to the bed, instantly clinging around Loki's neck, Smashing your lips together as his hips began to rock into you.
"Shit... You feel amazing."
He moaned, pressing his forehead to yours, nearly folding you in half as he fucked you, heat building with each thrust, sweat beading on your bodies.
"Speak to me, Darling, I want to hear you."
He groaned, tip grazing your prostate, rutting against it each time.
"You feel so good Loki~! Fu—ck.."
You whined, Your spine arching off the bed, the crown of your head pushing into the mattress, your insides felt like they were melting as you both chased your climax.
"I could say the same, darling, you fe-ah.. you feel wonderful.."
He whined, you could feel his cock twitch inside of you, threatening to burst.
"I'm gonna cum.. ah... Loki- "
You whimpered, your cock spilling out precum as it rutted against your stomach, the friction bringing you closer until your body halted, taking your breath away as white spurted from your slit, spilling on your stomach.
It didn't take long for Loki to finish himself, pulling out and cumming between your legs, panting as you both came off your high, hair sticking to your faces.
"That was... Exhilarating."
Loki sighed, wiping his forehead before whipping his head around the room, locating a bathroom and rushing off to wet a rag, coming back looking refreshed, pants buttoned and all.
"Come here darling, let me clean you up."

30 days until the wedding
Claire’s first morning in Asgard dawned bright and beautiful, setting the sea below ablaze in glittering gold and silver. Fog rolled down the high mountains. Birds chirped gaily as the people below began to come to life.
Claire wasn’t awake to appreciate any of it.
Ragna, Claire’s new personal servant, was doing her best to awaken the future princess for the morning meal, but the future princess was proving to be a stubborn sleeper.
“My lady?” Ragna hovered in the doorway before stepping inside to open the curtains.
“Alexa...snooze…” Claire grumbled. She hadn’t even opened her eyes and the room was already spinning. She didn’t remember setting an alarm on her Alexa but the bitch wouldn’t shut up and her head was splitting.
“My lady?” Claire groaned loudly and turned away from the sound.
“Alexa- stop!” she pleaded with the digital assistant. Ragna retreated to the main room, drawing short when she came upon Kari polishing the floor.
“How does our lady fare?” Kari asked.
“It is difficult to say,” Ragna replied hesitantly. “The lady seems reluctant to wake, but she keeps speaking to someone named Alexa?”
“Who is Alexa?” Kari wondered. Ragna shrugged. “Perhaps she is a friend of the lady’s from Midgard?”
“A friend whom she speaks to in bed?” Ragna asked, her tone scandalized.
“Perhaps the lady has...different tastes?” Kari suggested quietly, ducking her head when Ragna gaped at her.
“Do not speak of it, Kari!” she whispered harshly. “Our lady’s business is...well...it is not our place to speculate.”
“You would think they would have found a lady who desired the company of men.” Kari muttered as she scrubbed the floor.
“Kari!”
“Alexa, shut up!” Claire groaned as she stumbled into the room, one hand shielding her eyes from the intense sunlight. Keeping her eyes scrunched closed, Claire groaned and swept her hand through her wild hair before daring to open her burning eyes. “Jesus fuck!” she jumped when she saw the two women in front of her. “Um- hi.”
“Good morning, my lady,” Ragna curtsied. Kari shot to her feet, curtsying a second later. “How do you fare?”
“Um...fine I guess. Were you- were you in my bedroom?”
“I was, my lady,” Ragna replied. “I opened your curtains and tried to wake you but-”
“Wait, that was you?” Claire asked groggily as she massaged her temples. “I thought you were my Alexa,” she chuckled, clocking the confused look the two women shared. “Sorry for telling you to shut up.”
“It is forgotten. My lady,” Ragna asked delicately. “Who is Alexa?”
“Is she of Midgard?” Kari asked with grisly interest.
“Um...sort of?” Claire rolled her shoulders as she sat on the couch, wincing as the aching joints popped. “She’s a digital assistant.”
“’Digital’?” the women shared another look of confusion. “She helps with her hands?”
“Does that mean we are digital assistants?” the second woman cackled with glee.
“Not quite,” Claire laughed. “Alexa is uh...she’s not a person, she is a machine. She keeps track of calendars, grocery lists, plays music...that kind of thing.”
“She sounds very talented, this Alexa,” Ragna replied. “But you need not worry, my lady, for I shall be your new Alexa.”
“Sounds great,” Claire grinned. “Can you remind me of your names again please? I am terrible at remembering them.”
“Of course, my lady! This is Kari, your chambermaid,” Ragna introduced the second woman. “And I am Ragna, your personal servant. Are you prepared to begin your day?”
“Can I have a few minutes?” Claire asked. “Also, is there any chance you can take me to the kitchen so I can get some wine for my headache?”
“I certainly can, my lady, but I can also bring it here if you would prefer.”
“Oh god yes, that sounds so much better, thank you,” Claire groaned, cradling her head as it throbbed. “What am I supposed to do today?”
“Yes, of course,” Ragna nodded. “Kari, fetch our lady wine and water. Some bread to soothe her stomach as well.”
“Right away.” Kari jumped to obey the command, disappearing from the apartment without another word.
“Today, my lady is to meet with Her Majesty Queen Frigga and His Majesty Prince Loki to begin preparations for your nuptials. You shall also meet the ladies of the court, as they shall keep you company in your new life here. The seamstress wishes to return so that she may begin work upon your wedding gown. Lastly, the All-Father has made arrangements for your official announcement to the people this afternoon.”
“Didn’t I just get fitted for dresses yesterday?”
“You were, my lady, but that was for your daily wear, not your wedding gown,” Ragna offered an apologetic smile when Claire groaned. “Shall I help you bathe while we await the wine and bread?”
“Thank you, but I can bathe myself.”
“Of course, my lady. Shall I start the water for you?”
“Um...sure.”
In a matter of minutes, Claire sank into what had to be the fanciest bath of her life. The water was blissfully hot, steam rolling outward over the glossy smooth stones as she slumped comfortably on the stone bench. Claire took a sip of wine and sighed blissfully as her throbbing headache began finally to dull. As she soaked in the delightful heat, Claire enjoyed small bites of fresh warm bread and delectable creamy butter.
She could get used to this.
All too soon, she had to get ready to meet Frigga and Loki. Ragna helped her dress, lacing her into a light blue gown of the softest velvet. Claire sat at the vanity, watching in the mirror as her hair was dried and combed into submission. Claire would usually put her hair up to keep it out of her face, but as Ragna explained, only married women of Claire’s new rank were allowed to do so.
Once she was married, she would be required to always wear her hair up in some fashion.
Claire thought that was fucking stupid, but no one asked her.
As soon as she was deemed ready, Ragna escorted her from her apartment to another wing in the palace where she was to meet Frigga and Loki.
To Claire’s dismay, Loki was already there.
“Your Majesty.” Ragna curtsied to Loki as they approached.
“Good morning,” Loki greeted them politely. “I confess I am surprised to see you upright after last night.” he turned his emerald eyes on Claire. Claire rolled her eyes as the door in front of them opened.
“Good morning my darlings,” Frigga said cheerfully. “Come in, come in! We have much to discuss.” Frigga invited Claire and Loki in, gesturing for them to sit for tea. Claire and Loki both stepped forward, nearly colliding at the doorway. Loki gave her an irritated look before stepping back and gesturing for her to go first.
Ragna closed the door behind Loki, leaving Claire in the room with Frigga and Loki.
“Good morning, mother.” Loki greeted Frigga warmly. He did not greet Claire. Claire ignored the slight and choose to look around the room instead. Large glass windows made up one of the walls, positively glowing in the morning sun. Birds chirped merrily from their nests outside, occasionally casting distorted shadows on the cream colored walls when they took flight. Elegant chairs sat around a large round table laden with luxurious cloth and fancy china, complete with fancy cups and saucers with delicate floral patterns painted on them.
“Good morning. Now, to business,” Frigga gestured for tea to be served. A servant stepped from the corner to pour tea into the fine china teacups at their seats. “I couldn’t help but notice that the two of you got off to a bit of a rough start at supper yesterday,” Frigga cajoled the newly engaged couple. “I thought we would begin with a simple introduction to allow you to get to know each other. How are introductions done where you are from, Lady Claire?”
“Oh, uh,” Claire fidgeted slightly, feeling wildly out of her element in the dress she’d been shoved into. The material was plush and soft, but she longed for the clothes she’d brought from home. “The usual, you know, shaking hands, first name, last name…” Frigga smiled politely before looking at Loki expectantly. A look of annoyance flashed across Loki’s face before he extended his hand to her. Claire took it, giving him the same firm handshake she would anyone on Earth. His hands were different than she’d expected. Calloused and rough, but not unpleasantly so.
“Hello,” he purred in his smooth voice, his long fingers clasped around hers. “I am Loki...Odinson.”
“Hi,” she offered. “I’m Claire Fisher.”
“Fisher?” Loki gawked at her. He retracted his hand abruptly, glaring across the table at Frigga. “A peasant? Did you know about this?”
“Is there a problem?” Claire asked.
“Let me see if I fully understand this situation Odin has concocted. Not only am I to be forced to suffer through this farce of a marriage, I am expected to marry a PEASANT?!” Loki scoffed rudely.
“Excuse the fuck out of me, Your Majesty! Not all of us are born with silver spoons up our asses!” the servants in the room gasped at her profanity.
“How dare you; I am a prince of Asgard!”
“Tell you what; I can turn around and leave, and you can waltz your happy ass right back to prison. How’s that sound?” Loki scowled at Claire as she scolded him. How dare she shove her finger in his face! “OR you can grow the fuck up and work with me. This isn’t how I pictured my life working out, either, but I’m here, so do you maybe wanna change your fuckin’ attitude?”
No one had ever spoken to him like this. Even though he could feel the rage in him rising, he couldn’t help but respect the little (at least in comparison to him) mortal. She was bold, and clearly did not fear him.
“Please let me apologize,” Frigga hissed politely as she glared at Loki. “For my son and his atrocious behavior.” Claire huffed, ire still burning in her eyes. Deep blue eyes that Loki was annoyed to find appealing as she glared at him.
“No need,” she said diplomatically. She had already taken a shine to her future mother-in-law. “It’s not your fault he’s a spoiled brat.”
“I beg your pardon?” Loki scoffed. “Madam, perhaps things are different from whence you hail, but here it is customary that a prince should marry someone of standing; not some common waif who procures fish for a living!”
“What?!” Claire shrieked. “What about me has anything to do with fishing? I’ve never been fishing in my life!”
“Ha!” Loki barked a sarcastic laugh. “You are a talented liar, madam. I am almost impressed!”
“I believe I see the misunderstanding-” Frigga interjected before the pair could continue their argument. “Your culture widely uses surnames to differentiate between families. Our culture uses patronymics among the upper class; as a way of tracing one’s lineage. But among the lower castes, one’s surname often indicates their profession.”
“I see.”
“It is no matter,” Frigga said placidly, patting Claire’s hand comfortingly. “We shall simply present you with a patronymic instead of your surname. What was your fathers name, dear?”
“I don’t know,” Claire replied. Loki made a noise beside her and she glared at him. “What?”
“You cannot be presented as a fisher- it isn’t proper!” the prince complained.
“And if I knew my dad’s name, I’d give it! I’ve never even met the man.”
“You’ve got to be kidding.” Loki scoffed. Claire crumpled up her napkin and flicked it at him. The fabric napkin did not strike him as intended, as the jerk in question reached out to grab it before it could.
“Lady Claire, please,” Frigga held up her hands to silence the pair. “This is an unusual circumstance here in Asgard, but not unheard of. We can forego the patronymic and simply introduce you as Lady Claire of Midgard.”
“Works for me.”
“Wonderful,” Frigga smiled before clapping her hands together. “Now, I understand our emissary explained to you that you and Loki may not spend time alone until after you are wed. I have already planned a number of outings which will allow you to get to know each other prior to the ceremony, each with proper chaperones. And of course you will meet for official business as well.”
“Why is that? No offense but it seems kind of...antiquated.”
“It is a custom, meant to protect a young lady’s virtue.”
“Oh no worries, that ship sailed a while ago.” Claire chuckled.
“This must be a joke!” Loki hissed from beside her. “Mother, Odin cannot possibly be considering this-”
“I can hear you, you know! My lack of virginity doesn’t matter anyway!”
“It matters because if this were a proper marriage you would be pure, and if you were found to be anything but you would be shamed!”
“Oh like your virtue is lily white?! Please,” Claire scoffed. “Double standard much?”
“Let me be sure I understand correctly,” Loki’s chair screeched on the floor as he squared off with his intended. “You have zero societal standing, your parentage is questionable at best, and you are without virtue.” He counted her supposed misdeeds on his long fingers, meeting her furious gaze with a level smirk. “Have I missed anything?”
“Those are small potatoes,” Claire scowled. “I have more to offer than fulfilling outdated wish lists.”
“What is it exactly that you have to offer?” Loki’s condescending tone made her want to hit him. “Well?”
“I’m pretty good at punching assholes in the face,” she replied tersely. “Virginity is a stupid concept anyway; only men would be so arrogant as to think their dicks impact a woman’s worth!” Her lip curled in disgust as she raked a derogatory glance up and down his figure.
“That is quite enough!” Frigga scolded before Loki could respond. It was just as well, Odin likely would have thrown him back in his cell for what he would have said. “I can see navigating these cultural differences will prove difficult. However, we cannot let our tempers get the best of us,” She flashed a warning look at Loki before turning to Claire. “Lady Claire, you are new to Asgard, so I can respect that our way of things may cause some upset. However, as you are being inducted into the royal family, you must behave in a manner befitting that. Threatening to punch your future husband is decidedly not what one could consider to be well-behaved. You will apologize.” she gestured toward Loki, her tone warning Claire not to argue if she was smart.
“You’re kidding, right?” Claire never claimed to be smart. “I had to listen to all my supposed faults and I can’t be upset about it?”
“I would never discourage you to ignore such a slight,” Frigga looked pointedly at Loki before turning back to Claire. “Merely reconsider how you react to it. Part of your duties as princess royal will be to act as an example for the young ladies in the court. We must be dignified in all things.”
“I’d say my dignity is intact, and I’m not apologizing for sticking up for myself,” Claire shrugged, crossing her arms as she leaned back in her chair. “If it’s really that awful, feel free to rip up that treaty and send me back home.”
“Cultural disagreements are not a reason to invalidate the treaty between our realms. If it were, no arranged marriages would ever succeed,” Frigga replied, her tone icy. “Now, this presents an unusual dilemma we must account for. It cannot be changed, therefore we will not speak of it again. We will move forward as if nothing is amiss. This information does not leave this room, yes?”
“Fine.” Claire hissed. Loki shrugged, reluctantly straightening his posture when Frigga gave him a pointed look.
“Very well.” he muttered.
“Wonderful,” Frigga smiled at them. “We shall safeguard this secret as though our lives depend upon it. The two of you will be chaperoned at all times until you are wed, as per our laws and traditions. But I must stress upon you, especially you, Lady Claire, how detrimental this information could be should it ever come to light.”
“Even after we’re married?” Claire balked.
“Even after you are married,” Frigga confirmed. “The people of Asgard consider the virtue of their daughters sacrosanct. You will be held to the same standard even though you do not hail from this realm. It is your duty from now on to embody all the virtues that Asgard holds in highest regard.”
“Wonderful,” Claire muttered. “May I be excused?”
“You may. After an apology is made.” Frigga gave Claire The Look™, sending a shiver down Claire’s spine. She hadn’t seen The Look™ in over a decade, but it still made her palms begin to sweat. Still, she wasn’t about to budge. The dickhead would apologize first, or they’d be there for a while.
“I will if you will.” Claire said to Loki, looking at him expectantly.
“Surely you can’t be serious.”
“I am serious. And don’t call me Shirley,” The joke was out before Claire could reign it in. Both Asgardians looked at her blankly. Wrong crowd, Claire. “Never mind.”
“I will not-”
“Yes you will,” Frigga interrupted the prince. Claire felt a surge of smug satisfaction when Loki also received The Look™ from his mother. “Now.” The prince huffed indignantly at his mother, dismayed at being called to the carpet.
His jaw clenched, Loki turned to glare at his future wife. Never before had he met such a stubborn woman. Even now, she was unapologetic. It practically radiated from her in waves. She met his gaze without fear or flinching, and even had the gall to appear bored! She drew a deep breath and began to examine her black claws, the light in the room glinting off them as she turned her hand this way and that.
She would wait an eternity. Loki had spent five years in his cell doing nothing; he could wait until she grew old and died.
“I can do this all day.” She said, tucking one slim leg over the other. She was so smug in her satisfaction at having bested him. Loki tightened his grip on the arms of the chair he sat in, the material creaking under the strain. Claire’s gaze flickered down to his clenched hands before coming back up to his eyes. So she’d noticed. The corner of her mouth ticked up as they continued to glare at each other.
She was enjoying this! This slip of a woman deigned to play games with him? She had no idea who she was dealing with. What he wouldn’t give to choke the life from her.
“Enough!” Frigga set her tea cup down forcibly, making the fine china on the table tremble and breaking the tense silence in the room. “I would strongly advise you both to make your peace. Both of you have signed the agreement, invitations have been sent, preparations are underway. In one month you will marry and that is the end of it!” the queen sighed heavily, frustration clear in every line of her face as she massaged her temples. “We will take the day to collect ourselves, and try again tomorrow. You may go.”
Loki took off like a shot, practically running Ragna over as he bolted out the door. Her uncle was glaring daggers at Loki’s back as Claire left the room.
“I take it things didn’t go well?”
“You have no idea,” Claire groused. “Is it too early to get drunk?”
“Again?” Phil asked. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?”
“No, but it’s a tempting one,” Claire grumbled as she watched Loki’s departing figure. “What an ass.”
“My lady,” Ragna spoke up. “The seamstress is waiting.”
“Okay, let’s go. See you later.” Claire tapped Phil’s arm as Ragna led her off.
~~~~
Claire’s second meeting with the seamstress went better than the first, as she only had to be manhandled once. The seamstress chattered happily as she worked, talking about fashions and fabrics and which lady caused a scandal eons ago and still can’t show her face.
“Does my lady have a preference for color?” she asked as she draped fabric this way and that over Claire’s body. “Have you chosen your official color yet?”
“My what?” Claire asked dumbly.
“Each member of the royal family has an official color, my lady, which no one else may wear. His Majesty Prince Thor prefers red, whereas His Majesty Prince Loki prefers green. The All-Father and All-Mother wear yellow and blue respectively,” the seamstress explained. “Perhaps something complimentary to His Majesty Prince Loki?”
“I do like green, but is that allowed?”
“As His Majesty’s intended, you are certainly within your rights to wear green if you desire. You may also choose to wear blue or yellow to honor your new parents, but never red.”
“That’s fine, I look better in cool colors anyway,” Claire said. “Blue I like, green I like, but purple is my favorite.”
“A splendid choice, my lady. I can create a beautiful purple gown for your wedding day,” the seamstress smiled. “I will begin working on a more complete wardrobe for you in your chosen color.”
~~~~
The minute the seamstress left, Ragna ushered Claire to the great hall for lunch and to meet the other young ladies of the court. Claire realized almost instantly this was going to suck.
She met at least six young women, all of whom were in fact much older (much, much older) than she was. Every single one of them claimed to love embroidery, abhor violence, and were as interesting as soggy paper.
Claire was losing her mind with boredom.
Across the great hall, Claire spotted a woman by herself. Tall, thin and dressed in armor, the woman was chugging a pint of mead. Claire decided on the spot she needed to be her friend.
“Excuse me,” Claire left the boring women in the dust and made her way over to the woman in armor. “Hi.” the woman peered at her just as she finished her pint.
“Another!” she called, smashing the tankard on the floor. “Forgive me, Lady Claire, I was parched. I am Lady Sif.” she dipped into a bow, clenched fist over her heart.
“No worries,” Claire grinned. “Nice to meet you.”
“And you, my lady. We certainly do need more female warriors here. Will you be joining us to train?”
“I would love to,” Claire’s grin bloomed into a delighted smile. “I’m not sure when I’ll be able to, with everything going on.”
“Of course, of course, you must be very busy,” Sif nodded. “Weddings are very consuming affairs.”
“That’s one way of putting it,” Claire snickered. “I can only imagine what I’ll be getting up to in the coming weeks.”
“Well, when you find yourself available, I hope you will come find me in the training yard. I am curious what a warrior from Midgard is capable of.”
“Hopefully I don’t disappoint.”
“I’m sure you won’t,” Sif smiled kindly. “After all, you impressed the All-Father. That isn’t so easily done,” she and Claire fell into companionable silence as her replacement mead was delivered. The other ladies Claire had left behind were still blathering on about needlepoint. “You’ll want to watch out for that one.” Sif warned, nodding toward the girl in the crown-like headband.
“Yrsa, right?” Claire guessed. They all looked like the same person, just in different shades of grey.
“Indeed, my lady. She is not so kind as she would have you believe.”
“What about the others?”
“The others I cannot say,” Sif replied. “As you’ve no doubt noticed, I do not subscribe to the same ideals as the other young ladies of court. I prefer to devote my time to defending my realm rather than embroidery.”
“Yeah, that sounds way more fun.” Sif chuckled as she finished her mead, clapping Claire on the arm.
“I must return, but I look forward to seeing you on the training field,” she said. “Best of luck with your…” a loud peal of girlish giggles erupted as Thor walked in. “New friends.”
“Yeah right,” Claire grimaced as the herd of women surrounded Thor to flirt with him. “Pretty sure I’m in hell.” Sif laughed heartily, clapping Claire on the arm again.
“That would be Helheim, my lady,” she corrected, both of them snickering as Thor disappeared in the swarm of women. “Don’t forget-”
“Sif! Where have you been?” Thor boomed as he walked toward them, having broken free of his admirers. “Sister! I see you have met Sif!”
“Hey Thor.”
“Can you join us on the training field? I would love to battle with you.”
“I would, but I have to stay here and gossip,” Claire smiled grimly. “Because embroidery is simply fascinating.”
“Pity,” Thor shook his head. “Loki would enjoy the chance to fight with you as well- at least, more than he has already.”
“Ha ha,” Claire said flatly. “Did he tell you he was class A dick?”
“He has not said anything, but he did not need to. Rumors abound already.” Thor waggled his eyebrows at her, his face breaking into a stupid grin.
“You’re kidding.”
“It is true, the servants hear everything,” Sif murmured. “News travels very fast here, Lady Claire.”
“Clearly,” Claire scoffed. “But he was a jerk and I stood up for myself, and I don’t feel guilty in the least.” Thor and Sif cackled like a pair of old crones.
“Well done,” Thor praised. “Loki needs someone to temper him,” he smacked a meaty paw against Sif’s and Claire’s biceps in sync, barely budging Sif but nearly making Claire fall. “We shall take our leave now, sister. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon.”
“Thanks, I’ll try.” Claire waved as they left the hall, leaving her behind with the cookie cutter girls.
~~~~
Across the palace, preparations were underway for the royal announcement. Wanting to include him as much as possible, Frigga had invited Phil to join in and offer insight. Frigga was determined to blend the traditions of Asgard with the traditions of Claire’s home as much as possible.
“Thank you for coming, Son of Coul. I trust your accommodations are to your liking?” Frigga asked.
“Yes, it’s very comfortable; thank you.” Phil replied.
“Excellent. Walk with me,” Frigga requested, nodding toward the open archway leading to a balcony as he began to walk. Phil followed after nonchalantly, his eyes widening at the beautiful scenery all around them as they stepped outside. Down on the streets below, banners had been hung to celebrate the occasion. A sea of people had already gathered, their excitement palpable. On the large balcony, servants scurried about to finalize preparations. “I would like to meet to discuss specifics for the wedding,” Frigga said as she adjusted a floral arrangement on the railing. “Forgive me, the announcement will take place very soon and things must look perfect. I assume you will be giving Lady Claire away in lieu of her father? You are her only living family, yes?”
“Yes, correct on both parts,” Phil said. “Her father has never been in her life, and her mother died when she was sixteen.”
“It’s tragic, to be orphaned so young. I must commend you for taking her in as you did; it was a noble thing.”
“That’s not necessary,” Phil chuckled. “I’ve always adored Claire; she’s such a vivacious girl. She was too young to be on her own.”
“That is true. Were you brother to her mother or her father?” Frigga asked.
“Neither,” Phil said. “We’re family by circumstance, not blood,” he smiled. “I’ve known her since she was born.”
“I am glad she had someone to care for her,” Frigga murmured. “I will do all I can to watch over her.”
“Thank you. That makes me feel better,” Phil did feel a sense of relief that the maternal woman would keep an eye on Claire.
“To be honest I’m not sure she needs it. She’s very sure of herself.” Frigga hummed in agreement, a wan smile curling her lips.
“She made that quite clear this morning,” Frigga chuckled. “I don’t believe I’ve yet met a young woman with the gall to stand up to Loki. Most fear him too greatly to risk antagonizing him and simply let him do as he pleases.” she barked a laugh as she recalled their intense stare down. “She will be a good match for him. She will surely meet him tit for tat; the Norns know he needs a strong woman to check his ego now and again.”
“Oh I’m sure she’ll have no problem with that,” Phil laughed. “She’s fierce when she needs to be. Her temper is not something to be taken lightly, I will say that.”
“What of this S.H.I.E.L.D. of yours; how is she involved in such business?” Frigga asked.
“She was one of our investigators,” Phil explained. “We constantly monitor for threats and when we find something we can’t explain, Claire and others like her are sent to find out what’s happening. Depending on what it is, investigators will either recommend the subject for further observation or subdue and contain it.” Frigga gaped at him with alarm.
“You will have to excuse my bewilderment,” she cleared her throat. “Female warriors are a rarity here in Asgard. Are there many in your company?”
“Of course. We take anyone willing to join. We actually monitor gifted children to see if they might be suitable for our training program. Claire has always been intelligent; once she came to live with me S.H.I.E.L.D. offered her the chance to test into the program and she was accepted.”
“What sort of things was she taught?” Frigga asked.
“We teach our students everything from combat to basic engineering but they are assigned different jobs based on their aptitude results. Claire was always very athletic and scored very well in combat and weapons training, so she was trained as a field agent before she went on to be an investigator.”
“And you would deem her a good warrior?”
“Without question, yes. She has been in the field since she graduated the program and has one of the highest success rates in her division.”
“I confess I am most curious to see how her skills will translate to her new role,” Frigga replied. “The people of Asgard do not need another warrior, you see.”
“I’m sure she’ll be fine.” Phil said with an optimism he didn’t feel. He had the strange feeling that somewhere in the palace, Claire was causing a ruckus.
“In time I imagine she will flourish, yes,” Frigga nodded. “I am eager for her to take her place,” she added as Loki arrived, fully dressed in his armor and bearing a dour look on his face. “Ah, Loki! I wondered when you would arrive.”
“I am perfectly on time, Mother, as always,” Loki replied. Phil chuckled as Frigga began to fuss over Loki’s appearance. “Mother, please.”
“Hush,” Frigga clicked her tongue at him. “You must look your best.”
“I look fine.”
“My darling boy, ‘fine’ will not do,” Frigga argued. “This is your first appearance with your bride-to-be!”
“If she manages to arrive in time.” Loki said coolly as a commotion from the hallway caught everyone’s attention. Claire came rushing toward them, Ragna hot on her heels.
“I’m here, I’m here,” she said hurriedly as she reached them. She’d changed from the dress she’d worn earlier, now in shimmery rose gold with a floral kransen adorning the crown of her head. Loathe as he was to admit it, the gown suited her curves beautifully. “What are you looking at?” she hissed at Loki when his eyes raked across her figure. Loki huffed in amusement, shaking his head dismissively.
“Nothing,” he replied smoothly. “I thought perhaps you’d gotten lost.”
“So sorry to disappoint.” Claire muttered as Odin arrived, setting everything in motion.
“Son of Coul, if you please,” Frigga gestured for Phil to step aside. Like a dance, people moved seamlessly into place until Loki and Claire stood just inside the large doors waiting to be announced to the masses waiting outside. Claire was so nervous she thought she might throw up. This would be her first official public appearance as the princess-to-be and she wanted to make a good impression.
“Stop fidgeting, it’s distracting.” Loki hissed at her side.
“I can’t help it, I’m nervous!” Claire hissed back. Loki rolled his eyes. “I know you don’t give a shit, but you could at least have a better attitude. This is important; I need to make a good impression on these people.”
“In that case you would do better to stop shaking so much. You’re not a leaf.” Loki said dismissively.
“Thanks for the support, asshole,” Claire scoffed. “Can I at least hold onto your arm or something?”
“You’re quite welcome,” Loki shot back. “And no, you may not. I’ll not add your insecurity to the list of vexing activities I’ve had to endure today,” He sniped. Claire growled and forced her arm around his, looping it rigidly and tugging him toward her for a better grip. Loki growled back and pulled his arm back forcefully to no avail. “I loathe you, you irksome woman. I’d rather rot in my cell than suffer an eternity married to you.” He growled through clenched teeth.
“The feeling is mutual, prick. Maybe I’ll off myself out of spite just so you get a one-way trip back to the dungeons where you belong.” Claire hissed. Loki laughed harshly, towering over her.
“Oh, what a glorious day that would be. Allow me to help you once we’re alone.” The servant straightening the train of Claire’s dress gasped in shock, and Loki spared her an irreverent gaze.
“Enough!” Frigga scolded them sharply. “It’s time,” she said, pinning the engaged couple with a warning glare. “Open the doors.” Loki straightened his shoulders, his already remarkable height somehow growing.
“You shouldn’t slouch.” he had the audacity to say to Claire.
“And you shouldn’t talk to me.” she hissed back, glaring at him sharply when he stepped forward and pulled her off balance.
“My apologies, I thought you were ready,” he feigned concern, one of his large hands shooting out to grab her free arm to stabilize her. “I can appreciate your free spirit, but you’re meant to wear the shoes, not trip out of them.”
“Oh I’m sorry, how stupid of me! I thought they were for decoration,” Claire bent down and grabbed the shoe still on her foot and threw it at the annoying prince. “Say another word, I dare you.”
Looking equally disgusted and confused, Loki gawked at the shoe print on his chest plate before glaring up at her. No one had ever had the nerve to treat him this way. He was honestly speechless.
Two could play at her ridiculous game.
“Another word.” A delightful blaze of fury crossed his fiancee’s face as trumpets announced their cue to appear before the people. Behind them, Frigga rubbed her temples in frustration before stepping behind the couple to steer them apart with a firm hand on their shoulders.
“Remember to smile, darlings. This is the start of a joyous celebration and everyone is here to celebrate with you. You will behave,” she said, her voice honey sweet. “Or else,” her sweet sounding threat hung in the air between them. “Claire, dear, correct your posture, just like we practiced,” a servant scurried forward to collect Claire’s discarded shoes, offering to help her put them back on, stepping back when Claire shook her head. “Loki, I expect you to be nothing less than a perfect gentleman. Claire is new to this, you must help her. And for goodness’ sake, be mindful.”
“Yes Mother,” Loki’s jaw tightened. The roar of the crowd outside made Claire a little nervous. She wasn’t used to being the center of attention; her work with S.H.I.E.L.D. had taught her to blend in and be unnoticeable. “Shall we?” Loki offered her his arm, and Claire took it, steeling herself with a deep breath. She corrected her posture, standing tall with shoulders down and back as Frigga had taught her.
“I’m ready.” she replied, letting Loki take the lead and guide her out onto the terrace.
A wall of noise assaulted her ears as they came into view- cheers and screams of delight seeming to come from all directions.
“People of Asgard,” Odin announced, his voice echoing for all to hear. “We are gathered for a joyous announcement. My son, Prince Loki, is engaged to be wed!”
The people below erupted in cheers, making Claire laugh. How was this her life?
At the front of the crowds, Claire could see a group of young girls. Some clutched stuffed animals, some clutched each other, others still clutched their mothers. Deeper in the crowd, children sat atop their parents shoulders. The children gaped up at them in awe, cheering for what they thought was true love. Claire envied them for the blindness of youth they still had.
Several people waved as they cheered, and though Claire thought it strange, she waved back along with Loki.
“Lady Claire of Midgard has long labored for the good of the people of her homeland, and has graciously agreed to join our royal family to continue her work for the good of Asgard.” Odin announced, prompting another chorus of cheers.
“Laying it on a little thick, isn’t he?” Claire murmured to Loki.
“He means to make you look honorable, and desirable. You need the help,” Loki replied placidly, glancing down at her. “Remember to smile.” Claire plastered on a fake smile, pinching Loki’s arm between the plates of his armor.
“Don’t tell me what to do.” she hissed through her teeth.
“My mother bid me help you, and I’m doing just that.”
“Would you like to criticize anything else?” Claire huffed. “You’re not exactly being helpful.”
“Oh dear, will you tell on me to my mother?” Loki asked, looking away from the people he was waving to with a genuine grin. The peachy tone on her lips was rather fetching, now that he’d taken the time to notice it.
“If I thought it would help.”
“Goodness, I’m frightened,” Loki said sarcastically, enjoying the flare of anger her pursed lips betrayed.
“In one month’s time,” Odin announced from his place beside them, either unaware of their tiff or uncaring. “Lady Claire and my son shall wed, and Asgard will have its first princess in an age!” More cheers erupted from the streets below, nearly drowning out Loki’s request.
“Give me your hand.”
“No.”
“Woman-” Loki stopped himself, his lips pursing angrily before he fixed his intense gaze on her. “Give me your hand.”
“You want it, you grab it.” Claire wasn’t about to play nice when he’d been a jerkwad all day. Even if he did look really hot in the armor.
“Fine,” Loki muttered, his hand darting out to grab hers. His hand was warm as it clasped around her fingers, his other hand snaking around her waist to pull her toward him. Outwardly, it would have looked gentle, but annoyed as he was Loki pulled hard enough to nearly make her stumble into him. What the hell is he doing? “My lady.” Claire was utterly surprised when Loki cradled her hand like a precious gem and brought it to his lips. Her eyes widened when he pressed his lips to her knuckles. Claire’s stomach flipped like it was on a roller coaster, her cheeks growing warm as her breath caught in her throat. Oh what the hell is this? Loki’s eyes danced with mischief as he glanced up at her, as if he knew what he was doing to her. Butterflies took flight in her belly and Claire swallowed thickly, doing her best to stay calm despite her thundering heart when they were ushered back inside. Settle down, you idiot. You do not have feelings for this arrogant ass.
“Well done,” Frigga praised as they stepped inside. The doors were closed behind them and Loki released her. Claire’s eyes met his for a brief moment before she stepped away with shaky knees. What the fuck was wrong with her? Get it together you dumb bitch. Loki gave her a knowing grin and Claire’s stomach dropped. Damn it, he knows!
Claire beat a hasty retreat to the feast hall, not even waiting for Phil. Her cheeks burned and her stomach butterflies wouldn’t stop fluttering. She wasn’t about to stick around so Loki could pick on her. The smug bastard.
By the time everyone else arrived, Claire was on her second glass of wine. The chair to her left scraped against the stone floor and Loki settled beside her with annoying grace. Claire and Phil struck up conversation while he sulked in silence.
“Are you attempting for five this night?” Loki suddenly asked. Claire didn’t answer, her mind a jumble all over again. What the fuck was that-what the FUCK was that?!
“What the fuck was that?” she asked sharply, setting her empty goblet down with a pointed clink. Claire asked Loki, but she also asked herself. It wasn’t like her to have reactions like that.
“What was what?” Loki sighed.
“That,” Claire hissed. “Out there.”
“It’s called a kiss,” Loki rolled his eyes, signaling for a drink of his own. “I’d thought your planet uncivilized before, but honestly-”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it.” Silence settled between them heavily as a servant filled their goblets. Claire was the first to move, allowing the sweet liquid to linger on her tongue.
“Have I upset you?” Something in Loki’s tone made Claire look up from her drink. To her surprise he looked genuinely unsettled. “Do you feel I took liberties?”
“No,” Claire shook her head and relief washed over Loki’s face. “I just wasn’t expecting it. Why did you-”
“At events like that, you play to the crowd,” Loki shrugged. “The people know our marriage is arranged, but rumors of true love abound to no end.”
“’True love’?” Claire scoffed. “People still believe in that garbage?” Loki shrugged. “Do you believe in it?”
“In true love?” he chuckled. “Certainly not. When I was a child, perhaps. Who doesn’t wish for someone to love them unconditionally? But it is a falsehood like everything else.”
“I’ll drink to that.” Claire tipped her goblet toward him before taking a sip. She hoped they served dinner soon; she needed food to catch up with her wine.
“How is it you managed to function today, if I may ask?” Loki peered at her over his goblet. “I don’t know many humans who could handle that much wine.”
“Do you think today was my first hangover?” Claire laughed. “I’ll have you know that I’m an expert at functioning when I feel like dying.” Loki huffed in amusement.
“Did you at least enjoy meeting the other ladies at court?”
“That’s one word for it,” Claire replied. “They’re obsessed with Thor. He showed up and they were practically falling over themselves to talk to him.”
“Typical,” Loki groused. “They have no shame.”
“They have no sense.” Loki laughed along with her, their eyes meeting as they enjoyed their private joke. Loki really was an attractive man, with those intense green eyes and sharp cheekbones. And soft lips.
Loki didn’t know what to make of Claire just yet. She baffled him at every turn, it seemed. She was mad at him for this and that, but the way she looked at him sometimes (like she was now) made Loki think she was mad because she wanted to kiss him. Or perhaps kill him.
Loki settled back into his seat, lifting his goblet to take a sip of wine as dinner was finally served.
He had plenty of time to figure her out.
Hi!!! just wanted to say love your writing & i have an idea for a request.
the reader is attending a stark party and is already a little late due to meetings with phil & they decide to wear a red cocktail dress with a little gold pendant from her childhood not knowing just how upset loki will be seeing you in his brothers colors. starting off 100 % innocent cause the reader isn’t aware that the women of asgard tend to do this for there beloveds. so loki decides to show her just exactly who she belongs to. lmao smut ofc but i was thinking it it ending in a fluffy way where the reader originally thought he was just be possessive to do just that, to stake his claim. but really seeing you in those colors hurt him a little. but loki being loki, y’all won’t actually talk about it until he screws the life out of you.
if this is a bad idea you can be completely honest, I haven’t suggested it before though i’ve had this for awhile but I do believe with your writing style, because I’ve read a phenomenal amount of your fic’s & loved them! you’ll be able to do it in a way that I’d love
Can I tell you how much I love this? Cause I loooooove this!! One angry, possessive loki with a dash of dom energy coming up!! And thank you for sending this!! I really hope you like it!!! 💚❤💚❤
====================================
Colors
Pairing: Loki x reader
Warnings: possessive behavior, dom loki, swearing, all the smut, oral (f recieving), knife kink, consensual restraints, unprotected sex (wrap in up guys), breeding kink, mentions of saferword (always discuss things with your partners, be safe.)
Summary: you were running late, your day quickly becoming a crap show of meetings and paperwork. All you wanted was your boyfriend.
Tumblr media
You looked at your watch, seeing it was later then you thought "Phil, I really need to go, I was supposed to meet Loki an hour ago." You said packing up your things. "Fine, but back here first thing tomorrow so we can finish." He said closing a file. "Yes sir." You mock saluted as you grabbed your things, running towards your room.
"Shit, shit shit." You muttered, grabbing your black dress out of the closet, beginning to zip it as it broke. "Dammit." You sighed, pulling it off. "Well, not wearing that one" You said throwing it aside. You went back to your closet, the only dress you had clean was your red wrap around. "Well, red it is." You sighed. Slipping it on you went to your dresser, pulling out you pin, a gold butterfly your mom had given you as a kid. Pinning it to your dress, you released your hair, fluffing it before you headed to the party.
You smoothed your dress, walking in looking for Loki. You definitely needed a hug after today and his were the best. "Hey, have you seen Loki?" You asked wanda "i think he was by the bar." She said as you nodded, heading in that direction. You made it, not seeing your raven haired prince anywhere. You sighed, leaning on the counter "I love your dress y/n." You heard Thor next to you. "Oh, thank you." You said as he eyed you "do you think it wise to wear it with my brother though?" He asked as you furrowed your eyebrows "what do you mean? Is it too tight?" You asked looking down. "No lady y/n, I only mean, the color, on Asgard.." he started as you felt someone press behind you, wrapping an arm around your middle.
"Glad you could join us darling." You heard Loki as he kissed your neck. "Loki, i.." Thor started as you heard Loki...growl? "Did you think you could wear....this....and get away with it pet?" He whispered In your ear making you close your eyes. "I thought you knew who you belonged to, but it seems you need a reminder." He said spinning you around to face him, pulling you to him. He set his drink down "someone needs taught a lesson." He growled as he grabbed your arm, escorting you towards the elevators
"I'm sorry I was late, the meeting with Phil took an eternity and.." you started as Loki pressed you against the wall, shoving his thigh between your legs as you held his arms, his hand gripping your hair "be a good girl and keep that pretty mouth closed until we get upstairs hmm?" He said as you nodded. You heard the elevator ding as he backed up, escorting you inside. You stood in silence, looking up seeing Loki's jaw tense, his eyes locked forward as it dinged again "come darling." He said gently grabbing your arm.
You made it to the room as he slowly closed the door "go stand over there." He said pointing to the middle of the room. You nodded and did as he said, watching him pull his jacket off, tossing it aside as he rolled his sleeves up. "Who do you belong to love?" He asked as he stalked around you "y..you Loki." You whispered "who gives you pleasure you had only dreamed about?" He asked standing in front of you "you...Loki." you whispered again. "Who owns this...tight body of yours?" He asked licking his lips "y...you do, Loki." You whispered as he lifted his hand, a knife appearing. He reached up with the other, pulling on the front of your dress
"but you saw fit to wear.....this." he snarled as he took the knife, sliding it between your breasts carefully "Don't move love." He said as he sliced down the front of the dress. Popping the straps off he pulled it off of you, your eyes wide as it disappeared in his hand "b..but my..." you stared "did I say you could speak?" He asked looking at you as you shook your head. He slowly ran the end of the knife along the skin of your breast, gently as to not penitrate your skin.
He slid the knife under your bra "and who do these perfect breasts belong to?" He asked looking into your eyes "You Loki." You sighed, feeling the cool metal on your skin, gasping as he sliced through your bra, leaving your top bare. "Go lie on the bed." He said, unbuttoning his shirt. You nodded, laying your head on the pillow watching him. "Arms up love." He said, as you reached up for the headboard, feeling silk wrap around them. He came to stand next to you, pulling on the silk "ok?" He asked as you nodded "safeword.." he asked as he undid his belt "emerald." You whispered as he nodded. "Good girl." He said as you blushed.
He walked to the foot of the bed, removing his pants as he kneeled on the mattress, pulling your knees apart, running his hands up your thighs. "Hold still." He said sternly as you felt the cold metal on your skin again, slipping under the hem of your panties, closing your eyes as he cut them off. He spread your legs farther, you felt exposed as his eyes roamed over you "and who does this perfect pussy belong to?" He asked as he lowered himself down, nestling his shoulder under your knees. "Y..you Loki, it belongs to you." You panted as you felt his breath againt you. "That's right, mine." He growled as you felt his lips latch onto you.
You cried out as he nipped and sucked hard on your bundle of nerves, your hips instinctively lifting off the bed as he gripped your thighs, growling as he pressed himself further to you. "Oh god....like that...please..." you moaned as he swirled his tongue around your bud before sucking hard again. You looked down, seeing his head bobbing up and down, his eyes closed. The sight alone almost made you come. "L..loki i....oh God I'm gonna...." you panted as he pulled back, looking at you. "Hmm, delicious darling, but you come when I allow it." He said leaning up on his knees.
You huffed as you felt your orgasm slip away "does someone need a spanking?" He asked leaning over you. "N..no sir, sorry sir." You panted as he looked into your eyes "good girl, take what I give you." He growled as his lips slotted over yours, the taste of yourself on his tongue as he licked into your mouth. He pulled back, latching his lips to your neck as you bucked your hips up to him. "So needy, do you want me to fuck you, hmm?" He asked biting your neck "Yes, please yes!" You cried out as he held your hips down.
He leaned up, sliding his boxers off as he lined himself up "how much do you want it y/n? How bad do you want me to ruin you?" He asked as he leaned over you, rubbing his cock along your folds "Please Loki! Ruin me for everyone else, claim me, please." You cried out as he pressed himself into you "Oh, I intend to?" He smiled as he slammed into you in one hard thrust, making you cry out. You pulled hard on your restraints, wanting to touch him, any part of him.
He leaned up, one hand on your hip, the other on the tip of the headboard, as he looked down at you "please Loki, move. I need you." You whined looking up at him. "Mm I do love when you beg." He said pulling out, thrusting back into you hard, laying your head back seeing his bicep flex as he slammed into you again. "Fuck, Loki...you feel so good." You cried out as he thrust hard again. "Do you want me to come inside you, paint your perfect cunt with my seed." He growled slamming his hips into you. "God yes! I want to feel you!" You yelled out as his pace quickened, hitting your gspot.
"Mm, and what if you got pregnant? You'd like that wouldn't you?" He asked gripping the headboard harder. "Your belly swollen with my child, your supple breasts swelling, that's what you want isn't it?" He growled as he his pace was relentless, feeling your face flush at his words "Yes! God loki yes! Fill me up, please!" You yelled as your orgasm built "Come with me y/n, I want to feel it." He groaned as he hit your soft spot hard triggering your orgasm as you felt him twitch inside you, spilling deep in you, making you cry out his name.
He leaned up, slowly untying your hands "You pulled hard this time, why didn't you say anyrhing?" He asked looking at your wrists "I was fine, it felt good." You smiled as you saw a green light engulph your wrists "I don't want you to get hurt love." He said sternly. You cupped his cheek "I'm fine." You smiled at him. He slowly pulled out of you, kissing your forehead. "I'll go run a bath, stay right here." He said as you smiled "yes my prince." You said as he went to the bathroom, coming back a few minutes later "come on love." He said helping you up. He helped you in the bath before slipping in behind you, pressing your head to his shoulder.
"I'm sorry I was late, I didn't mean to upset you dear." You whispered as you laced your fingers with his. "I wasn't upset darling, I know you get busy sometimes, I trust you." He said kissing your neck. You tilted your head looking up at him "did you hate the dress? Was it too revealing?" You asked playing with his fingers "no love, you looked amazing, it's just.." he started looking down at you with those green eyes "what, what is it?" You asked more intently this time as he sighed. "In Asgard, when two people were courting, you would wear your beloved's colors, as a symbol of your relationship." He said as you nodded.
"So, when you came in tonight, and I saw you wearing that dress.." he started as realization hit you, how Thor was acting, how possessive Loki got. "I...it was Thor's color wasn't it?" You asked as he nodded looking at you "im so sorry, I didn't mean to, my black dress broke, and I was already late, and I had no idea..." you started as Loki softly kissed you. "You didn't know love, I just, I saw you and lost control." He said cupping your cheek. "Umm is the dress gone? I had a pendant on it my mother gave me." You said looking at him as he twitched his hand, the dress appearing in his hand.
He handed it to you, blushing as you remembered him cutting it off you, as you unclipped the pendant, throwing the dress. "I can fix it if you like." He said "no, red never was my color anyway." You smiled up at him as he kissed you. "And don't worry, I used a contraceptive spell, I don't think either of us are ready." He smiled. "Me either, but..I wouldn't be against doing that again." You whispered feeling your cheeks heat up. "Darling, did we discover a new kink?" He asked poking your side "maybe.." you smiled. "I adore you love." He said pressing your head to his chest "and I you my prince." You sighed closing your eyes listening to his heartbeat.
You made a note to buy more green dresses.....and maybe a new red one......
Fic & Author Recommendations Wrapped 2022
This is a first I am doing this but I felt that I want to share what I’ve been reading for the past couple of months.
Some authors you may already know and some, maybe not yet. But what they all have in common is that they make really amazing stories which I believe should be shared to everyone.
The categories will simply be separated by Dark and Non-Dark. I think it’s easier that way, but I will mention either way if they (the non-dark ones) are fluff, angst or simply smut.
Tumblr media
Dark
Unsolicited (Lloyd Hansen x Reader) by @darkficsyouneveraskedfor Summary: You run into a rude stranger at the mall, but this won’t be just another chance encounter.
All in the Family (Silverfox!Loki x Reader) by @darkficsyouneveraskedfor Summary: Your new boyfriend invites you to meet his parents for the holidays.
Wallflower (Silverfox!Thor x Reader) by @darkficsyouneveraskedfor Summary: Your mother meets a new man, but he doesn’t seem very interested in her.
High Value Hero (Steve Rogers x Reader) by @rustytricycle Summary: America’s golden boy, Steve Rogers, doesn’t have the most modern view of women behind closed doors. And the podcasts his buddy Sam has introduced him to don’t help the situation. Unfortunately for you, you catch his eye when you become his next door neighbor.
The Fall of Aphrodite (ThorKi x Reader) by @cherienymphe Summary: You have the hearts of both of the princes, but nothing good lasts forever.
If I can’t have you (Andy Barber x Reader) by @cockslutpadalecki Summary: After your professor calls off your affair, you won’t take no for an answer. Andy loves you and you love him— you’re meant to be.
Fixer-Upper (Lumberjack!Steve x Reader) by @straywords Summary: You move to the countryside but life isn’t the cottage daydream you hoped for.
Tumblr media
Grey
Put You In Your Place (Stepdad!Andy Barber x Stepdaughter!Reader) by @cockslutpadalecki Summary: Andy is sick of his stepdaughter continuously stepping out of line, and when he catches her spiking the punch at Jacob’s sixteenth birthday party, he’s had enough. It’s time he teaches her a lesson.
Show Some Respect (James Conrad x OFC) by @ladycamillewrites Summary: Louise, the adventurous daughter of a Marine General was assigned Capt. Conrad’s expedition troop. Soon tempers clash and Conrad has to make his position clear.
Tumblr media
Non-Dark
Legend: 💚 - Smut / 💙 - Fluff / 💔 - Angst
Poker Face (Loki x Reader) by @mochie85 💚  Summary: Will you win a game of strip poker against the god of mischief?
It’s Always Been You (Loki x Reader) by @sarahscribbles 💙  Summary: Loki follows you from the Yule celebration with one question on his mind.
Come Around Sundown (Tattooed!DBF!Steve Rogers x Reader) by @cockslutpadalecki 💚  Summary: What happens at Christmas is never just a one time thing, and when summer break rolls around, you find yourself repeating past mistakes. Or is it a mistake?
Chocolate and Promises (Loki x F!Reader) by @michelleleewise 💔💙 Summary: You have been friends with Loki awhile, so when he locks himself away you make it your mission to get to the bottom of it.
♡ ENHYPEN’S REACTIONS WHEN YOU RANDOMLY HUG/KISS THEM
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
enhypen x gn!reader | wc : 1.2k words | content : possible grammar and spelling mistakes, lowercase intended, tooth-rotting fluff, random pda (hugging, kissing), petnames, riki kinda being flirty ;) | request : omg can you do enha reacting to their s/o randomly coming up to them and hugging/kissing them?? how how they would kiss you. plsplsplspls please i'll marry you | loki's lines : ok done i will be waiting for the ring honey <3
Tumblr media
LEE HEESEUNG
🦌 heeseung immediately does a mental checklist as soon as you greet him with a hug or kiss
🦌 it's not like you don't do it often, it's just he's a little wary when you do it without reason
🦌 like when he comes home from work or smth, he knows he'll be greeted with kisses and hugs, but when he's just on his phone minding his own bs, he's a little scared
🦌 wonders if he missed some important event of yours and casually goes "hey bubs, what's up?" while trying to analyse your response pattern
🦌 if you reply with a "nothing, just wanted to hug you" in a serious tone, heeseung will rest assured bc he knows you aren't mad or anything
🦌 will simply hug you back and place a kiss on your forehead
🦌 "you have all my attention, my love. tell me what you want to do."
Tumblr media
PARK JONGSEONG
🦅 reading + you + surprise kisses = a very happy jay
🦅 he was just doing the bare minimum, reading a book while you were laying on his lap, doing the same
🦅 “jay, come here, look at this line.” you said, having your bf lean closer to you to look at your book
🦅 “what is it, love?” he asked, oblivious to the mischievous grin on your face
🦅 once his face was close enough, you’d lean in, placing a quick kiss on his cheeks, startling him in the process
🦅 jay would simply break into a shy smile, returning your gesture with a soft kiss on your lips
🦅 you two would go back to your reading, but now and then, either of you will kiss the other — the gesture being a pleasant surprise from the constant reading
🦅  “i don’t know what that was for, but i don’t mind more of it.”
Tumblr media
SIM JAEYUN
🐕 jake could be tensed af while working, but as soon as you envelope him in a hug, all his stress just poofs into thin air
🐕 he’d smile to himself before hitting pause on his work, turning around to return the hug before pulling you down on his lap so you were comfortable
🐕 “is it a special day?” he’d ask, brows furrowed as he wondered why you were the first to show your affection since it was usually him
🐕 “well, every day is a special day when i’m with you!” you gave a cheesy smile, making jake giggle, since it was usually him who’d say the cringy lines
🐕 would lean in to kiss you softly, smiling into the kiss before pulling away, a dreamy look on his face
🐕 “i love you, y/n. really, i do.”
Tumblr media
PARK SUNGHOON
🐧 mr ice prince would pretend like your sudden hugs and kisses don’t phase him when he’s a sucker for them
🐧 like there ain’t no bigger simp for you than park sunghoon
🐧 when you first do it tho, he’d be a little surprised bc he didn’t think you were comfortable with him like that yet
🐧 but when you continue to do it, hoon would cutely smile to himself before turning to you with a blank face
🐧 ofc initially you thought he didn’t like your affectionate gesture, but sunghoon sucks at hiding his expressions with you so you could immediately tell he didn’t mind it at all
🐧 “what is this gross gesture you always keep doing to me out of the blue?” he’d ask once when you cuddled him as he read a book
🐧 you held back an eye-roll at the ‘tsundere’ vibe he was going for. “i’m showing you my affection, hoonie.” you’d say before placing a kiss on his cheek
🐧 if you thought this was the limit for park sunghoon, think again — manz will carry on with his nonchalant concept even with the reddest cheeks and stupidest grin on his face
🐧 “showing affection? ew, gross … do it again.”
Tumblr media
KIM SUNOO
🦊 kim sunoo, every engene’s sunshine >_<
🦊 this baby is always the one to initiate skinship, so when you do it before him, he is pleasantly surprised
🦊 “oh? what’s up, baby?” he’d ask at first, wondering if smth was up with you
🦊 but once you assure him it was just smth you randomly wanted to do, he’d have the stupidest grin on his face, giggling to himself like a little kid as he returned the affection he received
🦊 it’ll probably be a competition of peppering kisses over each other’s faces until someone gives up from an overload of kisses
🦊 “okay, okay. i yield. you win! i don’t want my cause of death to be your kisses.” you’d joke as you pulled yourself away from your boyfriend, having him rest his hand on your waist instead
🦊 "ofc i win. even you can't outdo me. no one can love you as much as i do." (╥﹏╥)
Tumblr media
YANG JUNGWON
🐈 with the amount of work he has as enhypen’s leader, jungwon is the most likely to forget he has an s/o
🐈 and random displays of affection are possibly the only way he’s reminded about you — and i mean this in the best way possible
🐈 like he’d be grumpy about the staff meeting he had an hour ago and would be hunched over the dining table, going through some papers
🐈 and you’d greet him with a back-hug before placing a surprise kiss on his cheek, giggling to yourself at the way he froze up
🐈 “i didn’t mean to startle you that much. i’m sorry!” you’d apologise, looking wary as jungwon stared at you with a blank expression
🐈 he’d quietly observe your features, a smile taking over his face as he continued to look at you
🐈 ah, yes. i have an s/o. y/n, the love of my life.
🐈 he’d loosely rest his hands on your waist, placing a quick peck on your lips as he watched your face turn red at his sudden affection
🐈 “no, it’s fine. you didn’t startle me. i was just surprised … pleasantly surprised.”
Tumblr media
NISHIMURA RIKI
🐆 startling riki with a hug or kiss when he’s least expecting it is the best way to get his attention
🐆 manz was just playing games on his computer, doing his thang while you were somewhere around the house, doing your own thang
🐆 when you walked into his room and stood next to him like a sims character, riki thought little, knowing you could get as weird as him sometimes
🐆 “what are you doing, y/n?” he’d ask when you lean close to his face, maintaining the proximity even when he turned to look at you
🐆 “just … admiring.” riki would laugh at your response, going back to his game without another thought
🐆 mwah; one kith on his cheek, and you got nishimura riki’s attention
🐆 riki would look at you again, a shy smile as he silently asked you why you did what you did
🐆 once you envelop him in a hug, it’s over for him — bye games, hi y/n
🐆 you have successfully gained this baby giraffe’s attention. do what you wish with it
🐆 “i don’t know what i did to deserve that … so tell me, how can i persuade you to do that again?”
One moment, you're standing with both feet on the ground and the next you’re spinning in the air. You can’t remember who approached the other first but the result is all the same. You are in Bucky’s arms and everything around you fades away.
Things finally slow down as your feet return to solid ground. You look up at Bucky Barnes and try to see him through the long hair and stubble on his face.
“You look almost exactly the same.”
“I can say the same to you, doll,” he replies with a chuckle. “As mesmerizing as the first time I met you.”
You can’t ignore the warmth that spreads through your chest at his words. The influx of memories of him were becoming hard to ignore.
“Ever the flirt,” you giggle. “Does that line even work anymore?”
“They used to once,” he answers. “And with a certain lady too.”
You playfully shove him away.
“I’m glad some things haven't changed about you.”
“Yeah…” Bucky whispers a bit solemnly. “Me too.”
Someone clears their throat and you look over at Steve.
“Hello to you too,” you greet as you move over to hug him.
“Nice for you to notice me,” he answers with a chuckle. “But I should have known I would become invisible the moment you two were reunited.”
“Oh, turn that frown upside down, Steve,” Bucky jokes. “Every tricycle needs a good third wheel.”
Steve rolls his eyes, “I’ll leave you two to catch up while I congratulate Pepper and Tony.”
You watch Steve leave and once he’s far enough, Bucky turns to you.
“So,” he draws out. “I’m assuming you have a thousand questions and I’ve got some too.”
“Yeah, of course. None of this must be easy to understand and I can’t imagine Steve doing a good job explaining it all.”
“Well, you’re not wrong. Some things I can wrap my head around and some things I’m still struggling with,” Bucky shrugs. “So how about we get a drink and talk?”
“Actually I already have one…” you begin to say as you turn to the bar, but your drink is gone and so is your date. “Oh…”
You scan the room and find a retreating Loki who’s heading out to the balcony. You wish to follow him but a hand stops you.
“Is everything ok, doll?”
“Yeah,” you whisper as you turn back to Bucky. “I guess I just thought I was…”
...worth waiting around for.
You shake your mind of that disappointment. Loki didn’t owe you anything and he was free to do whatever he pleases. He had no obligation to stick around for you even though you hoped he would.
“Never mind,” you mutter more to yourself. You take a deep breath and smile up at Bucky. “How about that drink?”
Tumblr media
It isn’t hard for Loki to put the pieces together. Of course the fates would bring the one love you ever had in your lifetime into sight. Nothing can ever be easy when it comes to Loki and why fight what is bound to be inevitable?
Though it has been almost a century since you and Barnes last saw each other, both of you acted as if no time had passed at all.
Barnes lifted you up in the air and you allowed it. Clinging to him a little tighter even when he set you back on the ground.
You easily smiled at the soldier. Not a smile out of politeness nor kindness. A smile that made your eyes glimmer with something he still can’t describe. A smile he had to work hard to get from you, but for this soldier it was given without a second thought.
Whatever had occurred between you two was now long forgotten and so was Loki for that matter as you have yet to spare him a glance.
Loki knows that you’re not his, but perhaps he allowed himself to hope that maybe you would eventually allow it. Maybe in exchange for giving himself to you in return.
A silly thought, but one he allowed himself to have.
He takes your abandoned glass and downs it before handing it off to a passing waiter. Loki spares you one last glance hoping you’ll be staring at him for once, but you are still under Barnes’ spell.
Loki has lost once again without even being offered a chance to even compete.
He should leave once and for all, but he’s drawn to the balcony once more. A place where the stars once offered you comfort, he seeks some for himself.
Perhaps this is the punishment Odin was seeking when sending Loki back to Midgard. Not to face the consequences of his action, but to see how freedom allowed him hope and how that same hope can be taken so easily by another.
You and him were not the same, but you were both ships lost at sea trying to find their way back home.
Loki let out a sigh and stared up at the stars that seemed to be mocking him.
“For Norn’s sake,” he mutters. “Can I not have one reprieve? Or will my sins follow me everywhere?”
Loki doesn’t expect a response, but he shouldn’t be surprised when he hears one.
“It’s been a long time since you prayed, my son.”
He’s not ready to face his mother yet knowing there would be a thousand questions she would want answered.
“I wasn’t exactly praying,” he states. “Just licking my wounds out loud.”
“I wouldn’t be here if there was no intention behind those words,” Frigga answers. “So how can I help you, Loki?”
Loki considers it for a moment.
“Is there a way I can turn back time?” he asks. “Or, better yet, a way to make a certain man disappear from one’s mind?”
Frigga can’t help but laugh.
“And who are you trying to get rid off?”
“No one important,” Loki answers. “Just a soldier way past his time.”
Frigga just stares at her son disapprovingly.
“Why?”
“Why?” Loki repeats in annoyance. “Because he’s in the way. Because he has history with her and I can’t compete with that. Because it shouldn’t be that easy for him, but it is and I…”
“You what?”
“I can’t lose her.”
“And how do you know you’ve lost her?”
Loki doesn’t want to look but he inevitably does. His mother follows his line of sight that lands on you.
You’re at the bar sharing a drink with Barnes. You’re standing very close to him and he is eager as well to close the small space between you two.
“You have many choices you can make, Loki. You can fight for her. Get between her and that man at any cost or you can let her go. Let her seek her happiness on her own and see if she decides to stay with him or go with you.”
Frigga can see Loki struggle with the choice but is quick to impart one last word of wisdom upon him.
“But let me be clear, my son. One of those choices makes you selfish..”
Loki feels his mother’s magic disappear and so he looks up at the stars and ponders what to do next.
To Have and To Hold - Epilogue
THaTH Masterlist | Complete Masterlist
Summary: The story picks up twenty years after the last chapter. You struggle with the thought of your mortality compared to the rest of your family. A/N: Hopefully I've answered some questions Pairing: Loki x OFC/Reader Word Count: Over 3.3K Tags/Warnings: Fluff, light angst Dividers by: @firefly-graphics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You opened the suitcase, searching for your favorite dress. The one that went down to the floor and had a deep V-neckline. “I can do that for you, your highness,” Leta said as she finished unpacking your other clothes into the dressers.
“That’s all right Leta. I can manage but thank you.”
“Perhaps, I can just draw you a bath before dinner tonight?” she offered. You took a grateful look at her and let out a breath.
“That would be wonderful, thank you!” you said relieved and appreciative. “You always know exactly what I need, Leta.”
“Yes, it’s a shame you don’t take me to Midgard with you,” she joked.
“You would only spoil me if I were to take you with us.”
“Oh, but it gets so boring when you and the family aren’t here,” she pouted. You only laughed, remembering all the times Leta had said that to you.
Once Loki’s sentence had been revoked and was welcomed back to earth, you had both settled in a modest house just on the borders of the compound. You were still able to work as an Avenger and were glad that you did not have to give up that part of your life. Loki decided to take on more diplomatic missions to ingratiate himself with the people of Midgard. As well as raise his standing with Asgard’s court.
However, you and Loki would take the children back to Asgard every summer and winter. So they can learn this part of their heritage as well. Training, fighting, diplomacy, etiquette. All of which the children greedily learned and adapted to.
“Speaking of the family, where is everyone else?” You turned to see Vallen, his one leg over the armrest of a chair. One hand on a book, the other holding a half-eaten apple. The light cascading in from the balcony made him look like the first time you held him. He still looked like a boy to you. The same baby boy that would come up to you and show you the frog he caught. Or the flower he picked out for your hair.
Now, with each passing year, he looks more and more like your brother Callum, tall and strong with the same protective instinct. He’s even more formidable when he would change to his natural Jotunn form. Just as menacing as Loki. And just as devastatingly handsome.
Twenty years had gone by so quickly. The days were long, but the years were short.
“Vali, honey. Where is your sister?” Vali looked up at you, tearing his gaze from the book he held. “I don’t know. She’s probably out with Lady Sif and the Warriors Three.”
“Will you be a dear and go get her please,” you tasked. Vali tried to hide his minor annoyance, standing up and walking over to the balcony. He looked down, surveying the grounds, and found his twin in the midst of training against Fandral.
Vali put his hands against his mouth and yelled, “NAAAAARRRRVVVIIIIII!” Everyone froze at the sound of his deep voice. “Mother requests your presence!” he continued in a melodic tease. Vallen could see the annoyance in Minerva’s eyes as she gathered her weapons and made her way back into the palace.
Vali laughed, making his way back inside the room and settling himself once again on the chair, taking up his previous position.
“Really Vali?! That is no way for a prince to behave,” you said roughing up his hair.
“It was quicker this way.”
“You spend way too much time with your uncle.”
“Uncle Cal is practical. He would’ve done it too.”
“Yes, I know!”
Narvi burst through the doors, seeking out her brother. “Must you embarrass me in front of The Warrior’s Three?” She said laying her weapons down.
“Awe, you afraid you fumbled in front of Fandral?” He teased.
“You did that on purpose!” she threatened with a fist. Minerva was strong and fierce. She was small and often looked over. Which made her even more determined and unstoppable. She never let that bother her, using it as a tool against her opponent. With her long raven hair and cunning wit, you would never mistake her for anyone other than Loki’s daughter.
“Hold on, Narvi,” you told your daughter. “We had just arrived. Your grandparents haven’t seen either of you yet. Wait until after dinner to kill him, please.”
“Well, you might not have to wait any longer, child. I am here.” All three of you turned to see her majesty walk into your bed chambers.
“Nana!” both your kids stood and ran towards Frigga, hugging her tightly.
“Oh, my grandchildren are here! I am so happy.” She said hugging one with each arm. “Was that you I heard bellowing your sister’s name earlier?” she scolded Vali.
Vali had the sense to look embarrassed and scratched his head. “Sorry, Nan.”
“I apologize for not greeting you when you arrived. There were matters to attend to for tonight’s dinner.” Frigga said turning to you as you curtsied, “Your Highness.”
“Oh, darling, I’ve missed you,” Frigga said coming over to you and hugging you as well.
“I’ve missed you too.” You said as she engulfed you in her arms. “I hope you didn’t go through a lot of trouble for tonight’s dinner. I thought it would just be the family. I was surprised to see The Warrior’s Three here as well.”
“And don’t forget Thor and Love. They just arrived shortly before you did and are getting settled in too.”
“Love is here?” Narvi asked excitedly. She hurriedly gathered her things to her chambers and set off to find her cousin, grabbing Vali along with her.
“The castle might not be standing in the morning if all three cousins are here to cause mischief.” You whispered to Frigga, making her laugh.
“All right my dear, the reason why I’m here is to give you this.” Using her seidr, Frigga produced a velvet hat box in her hand. You recognized that box. It was the same one she gave you on your wedding day. The day you and Loki bound your souls and your lives together. No matter how short yours would be.
“Frigga…I…”
“Do you remember what you said to me when I first gave this to you?”
“Yes.”
“You said that it wouldn’t be right to keep it because…” Frigga choked up. The sob she had tried to damper, stuck in her throat. “…because…”
“…Such extravagance would be wasted on the small fleeting moment that is my life,” you finished.
“I understood what you were saying, darling. I do. But could you wear this for me tonight? This was meant for you. I’ve only kept it safe. For you.” Frigga opened the hat box carefully. You took a deep breath seeing the emerald and gold tiara sitting on a cushion inside the box. It was a halo of light and luxury. It was even more radiant than the first time you had seen it.
Frigga handed you the box to hold as she carefully took the tiara and placed it on your head. “My son has good taste.” She said looking at the tiara and then lifting your chin to give you a wink.
“Thank you, Mother.” You said trying not to cry.
“You look gorgeous, darling,” Loki said coming into the room. He was holding a large box in his hands wrapped in green silk.
“I’ll see both of you at dinner,” Frigga said, kissing you both goodbye and walking out into the hallway.
“Loki! Thank you, love. Are you done with your meeting?” you asked eyeing the box suspiciously.
“I am,” Loki answered your question, placing the box on your shared bed.
“What is that?” you said pointing to it.
“A gift. For you.”
“Why is everyone giving me gifts today? Oh no! Is today some holiday I’m not aware of?” you panicked.
“In a sense.” Loki laughed. “Every twenty years, the tree of Idunn bears fruit. It’s a rare occasion when it does. Sometimes the tree can go on for centuries without having born fruit because no one was willing to sacrifice a part of themselves.
“The Aesir of Asgard are born with a naturally long life span but every once in a while, we will grant the honor of our extended life to those who are willing to give their own flesh and blood for Asgard.”
Loki started to open the box in front of you. “Is that what’s in there? A golden apple?” you joked.
“No, darling It’s for you to wear tonight.” He laughed. He lifted the lid and pulled out a beautiful silk gown. You gasped at the elegance and design. The beautiful dark green pigment gave way to a sheen of gold when held in a certain way.
“Loki! I couldn’t possibly wear this tonight. It’s too special. It’s just a family dinner.”
“Violet! You are one of the most clever people I know. I’m sure you’ve deduced by now that tonight is more than just a family dinner.” Loki set the gown down on the bed, gently.
“Turn.” He ordered and you did so, looking back at him. He wrapped his arms around you and kissed you softly before caressing the skin under your shirt.
“Loki.” You chastised, biting his lip.
“Don’t worry, you naughty little thing, tonight is too important to get distracted.” He laughed lifting your shirt off your head and throwing it across the room. He reached for the buttons of your jeans next. Making quick work and helping you step out of them. He helped you get into the dress. The soft coolness of the fabric sends goosebumps up your skin.
Loki smiled as he twirled you around, the dress catching the light and reflecting greens and golds off the sway of the fabric.
“You are exquisite.” He said kissing you on your lips.
“Loki…” you breathed, trying to keep him focused.
“Right! As I was saying.” He continued, chuckling. “It takes twenty years for the tree to flower and produce fruit. The fruit comes from the sacrifice of a person’s blood or body. In ancient times, soldiers would come home, sometimes dismembered or injured from war, and they will offer up the piece of themselves they lost to the tree. The tree then uses that as nourishment to bear fruit. Each fruit is unique to the person who had offered their sacrifice. Once eaten, the fruit will grant a long life span. Just like the Aesir.”
You quickly turned to face him. Your eyes, disbelieving and shocked at what he was telling you. Does he mean that there was a way for you to extend your life?
“Yes. There is a way for you to extend your life.” Loki answered your thoughts. “It’s not that hard to see what’s going on in your mind, Violet.” He laughed. “I know we haven’t talked about this. I’ve tried, but you’re very sensitive about it.” He finished.
“I never wanted to talk about it because I didn’t want to think of a life where I would be parted from my family, and they would get to live centuries without me. Possibly forget me.” You said, on the brink of tears.
“Violet! I would never forget you. You are more than just a fleeting moment in my life. You are my life. My life would end the moment yours does too.” Loki declared kissing your hand and then your cheek.
“But I couldn’t help but think that way. On the other hand, if I were to live old and grey with you, each new connection I would make would seem like a blink of an eye to me. Is that how you see my life right now?”
“No, darling, I’ve had a wonderful life these past twenty years with you. I’d like to have more. Centuries even.”
“Loki, do you know what you’re asking of me?” You whispered, still trying to process all that he has said.
“I do. I’m asking you to stay with me forever. With our children.”
“I would lose Callum.”
“He will always be your brother. You would never lose him.”
“But one day he will die. Centuries before I do.”
“Yes. I’m sorry, Vee. I can’t make that realization any easier. But that is what will happen.”
“And so will all of my other friends. Colleagues I’ve worked with.”
“Yes,” Loki said looking more and more defeated with every word you say. “I know you chose me twenty years ago. I’m asking you to choose me again.”
“But why now?”
“As I said. It’s rare for the tree to bear fruit. Twenty years ago, I had the forethought to water Idunn’s tree with the water from the twin’s birth. It was a long shot. I wasn’t sure it would work. At our wedding, you had expressed to my mother about your fleeting life. She came to me to tell me about it and I explained to her what I did.”
“You did that without telling me?”
“I didn’t want to get your hopes up in case it didn’t bear fruit, love. In case, the tree didn’t accept your sacrifice. They would’ve disposed of it all anyway. Why not offer it up to the tree?”
“And what exactly did I sacrifice?”
“You sacrificed me,” Loki answered without hesitation. “For the betterment of Asgard. You left thinking you weren’t enough. You left so that I may find a more suitable queen when it was you all along. You also sacrificed yourself. To produce the future heirs of the kingdom. All were worthy offerings to Idunn. So, when the blooms started sprouting three weeks ago, my mother contacted me and kept an eye on it. The tree bears a single fruit. And it is for you. If…you choose to eat it.”
You looked long and hard at Loki. Trying to find the answer in his eyes. “And if I choose not to eat it?”
“No one else can have it. It was made for you. It takes twenty years to grow for that reason, my love. To give the person time to think about what a long life could mean to them. But I know you’ve thought about it already.”
“But what happens to us, Loki? What happens to us if I decide not to take it? What happens to you?”
“You will live out your life naturally. And so will I.”
“You won’t age.”
“This is an illusion. You know that Vee. I can still grow old with you if that is what you wish.”
“But I will die sooner.”
“And I will follow you.”
“Loki, be serious.”
“I am! You are my life! I refuse to live a day in this universe where you are not part of it.” He embraced you tight, wrapping his arms around your back as you buried your face in his chest.
You heard the murmur in his chest as he started singing. A smooth whisper just for your ears, “If you should ever leave me. Though life would still go on, believe me. The world could show nothing to me. So what good would living do me? God only knows what I’d be without you,” Loki sang quietly in your ear, repeating one of your favorite songs that you’ve played for him, throughout your years.
You started crying in his arms. You’ve thought a lot about this. About whether or not you could extend your life. You had made peace with the fact that you would die sooner than the rest of your family. But to be presented with a solution- broke that peace you had. Everything was hanging by a fraying rope waiting to drop.
“I will spend the next forty years or forty centuries with you. It’s your choice, my love. Always your choice. I will gladly follow you to Valhalla either way.”
Tumblr media
Dinner had been overwhelming. Everyone there knew what was about to take place, save your children. That is until Frigga pulled them to the side and explained what was happening.
Loki stayed by your side the entire evening. Ever willing and faithful to answer any of your concerns or to ground you from everyone else’s questions and prying.
You had smiled. You put on a face for people when they came up to you. “No one is more deserving of this than you,” Thor had told you.
“Thor, I- I’m sorry Jane couldn’t be here.” You started crying.
“Ah! Knowing Jane, she would’ve tackled that fruit out of your hands. Not to eat it, but to dissect it and find out what gives it its ‘life-extending’ properties.” You both laughed.
“Would she have taken it?” you asked morbidly curious. “Would she have eaten the fruit?”
“No, I don’t think she would have,” Thor paused, looking at you decidedly. “Violet, I want you to remember, whatever reasons Jane had, they were her reasons. Not yours. She hasn’t lived your life. Nor you, hers. Make a decision that’s good for you. Do you understand?”
You nodded, smiling at the sound advice he gave you.
“It is time!” Odin’s voice boomed across the great hall, gathering everyone’s attention. He struck the ground with Gungnir and proceeded to walk out to the great gardens.
Everyone’s eyes were on you as they waited for you to proceed. Narvi and Vali came up to you and hugged one arm each as Narvi placed her head on your shoulders. You intertwined your fingers with theirs and followed Odin out.
Odin stood in front of what looked like an old oak tree. Its gnarly roots twisted and turned as the branches grew out and over. The leaves canopied the entire garden. There was a light that glowed from the tree, making it look almost golden.
And there! In the midst of dark green foliage, hung a single fruit. The bright color of the peach stood out. It was by far the prettiest and juiciest peach you had ever seen.
“Your favorite fruit,” Loki said amused, behind you. Vali kissed you on your forehead. Narvi gave you a kiss on your cheek. And they both let go of your hands and stood back to where your friends and family waited, circling the tree.
Loki took your hand and walked with you towards the peach. “Daughter,” Odin said to you. “Idunn has deemed you worthy of granting your request. She has accepted your sacrifice.” Loki squeezed your hand causing you to look up at him. He gave you a short smile, telling you it was going to be ok. “As the head of the Æsir, The king of all Nine Realms, and the Father to All, I am happy to offer you the fruit that bears on her tree.”
“And if I choose not to take it?” you asked Odin.
“The fruit can only be harvested by your hands. It will wither and die from anyone else’s touch. If you choose not to partake in it. I ask that you bury it back into the ground near the tree so that the life-giving essence it holds will be preserved and can be given again to someone in the future.”
You nodded your understanding and walked towards the fruit. The peach was large, barely fitting the size of your hand. The fuzz of the fruit tickled and invited you. The beautiful colors swirled in a kaleidoscope of orange and pink. You pulled it down easy enough and were relieved to find that the fruit had not decayed in your hands.
It really is meant for me. You took a look at your friends and family. All watching with eager breath. The last person your eyes landed on was Loki.
He looked just as handsome as he did twenty years ago. There were some fine lines and gray hairs. All of which you loved about him. Each line represented the years in which you both spent time with each other. “Whatever you decided, my love,” he whispered so that only you could hear.
And with that, you took the first bite to the start of your long life.
Please let me know if you'd like to be added to the taglist! I'm SO sorry this chapter took me so long, it's been a real pain in the keester. Hopefully it makes up for the long wait! Not much longer until the wedding!!
One day until the wedding
“Good morning, Your Majesty!” Ragna crowed as she ripped open the curtains, assaulting Claire’s eyes with obnoxiously bright sunlight. “Today the wedding games will take place!”
“You are far too happy for what time it is.” Claire groused, bundling a pillow over her head. Ragna laughed and ripped the blankets from the bed, clapping her hands excitedly.
“Up, up, up! The games are always exciting, and today promises to be extra special!” Ragna said excitedly.
“Why is that exactly?”
“Your Majesty,” Ragna gasped, sitting on the edge of the bed and leaning in eagerly, as though sharing a secret. “This is a momentous occasion! You are the first princess Asgard has had since the Allmother came to marry the Allfather over 2,000 years ago! That would be many, many generations of your people, would it not?”
“Uh, yeah,” Claire said. “Yeah, it definitely would,” she chuckled. “Okay, now I see why everybody is so jazzed about it.”
“Jazzed?”
“It’s another way of saying someone is excited.”
“Oh!” Ragna smiled as she got to her feet. “Then I am jazzed to help you get ready!”
“Okay, okay, I’m up!” Claire laughed as she climbed out of bed. Ragna was already gathering clothes excitedly, practically coaching Claire and her other ladies through each task like a cheerleader.
Her ladies prepped her until she practically glowed, and then it was time for Claire to head downstairs to start the festivities with Loki.
~~~~
An air of excitement filled the palace as Claire and Loki welcomed their guests during breakfast. Everyone was eager for the games to begin- including the guests. Several of them had joined Thor and the warriors three in pre-gaming which, unbeknownst to them, would render them unable to participate. Claire and Loki shared a laugh as they watched the would-be competitor’s fall to the powerful mead one after another.
After a leisurely breakfast, the guests and competitors made their way out of the palace. They walked into the heart of the city, where stands were erected around empty fields. Equipment had already been set up for the archery competition and various other events. Claire gazed out at the field, trying to picture what everything was for- she’d been told there would be feats of strength and skill, but being unfamiliar with the games themselves, she wasn’t sure what each event needed.
Claire and Loki went their separate ways once they reached the field to prepare, Claire making her way toward the makeshift archery range, while Loki went with Thor and the warriors three to prepare for the games they would compete in.
Their guests filled the stands surrounding the field, all of them eager for the games to begin. Eager chatter filled Claire’s ears as she gazed around the field.
Tall beams had been erected at the far end of the field, with a smaller cross beam running between them at the top. Another area had been set up a few feet away from the beams, looking to Claire like a set up for shot put- markers had been set equidistant from each other to measure distance.
The area closest to Claire was set up for archery. Quivers had been placed in a neat line several paces from the row of targets, and a rack of bows had been brought over the training yard at the palace. Claire glanced back at the other areas on the field to see Loki helping Thor and several others carry...large boulders?
“Shall we prepare?” Sif appeared from nowhere, pulling Claire’s attention away from the way Loki’s tunic had already begun to cling to him. “You will have plenty of time to gawk at your intended once your events are over.”
“Haha, very funny,” Claire replied. “I suppose I could use more practice with the javelin.”
~~~~
“Do you think you will learn to shoot before the end of the century?” Claire startled when Loki appeared out of thin air. She released her grip on the string, her shot going wide as she turned to glare at him. The games were due to start any moment, and she was trying to get some last minute practice in.
“Unless you’re here to help, go away,” she said without ire. “I thought you couldn’t be alone with me anyway.”
“We’re hardly alone,” Loki mused as Claire notched her arrow again. “Half the palace and our guests are here.” He wasn’t wrong- several members of the staff and their assembled guests who’d signed up for the games were all milling about the field.
“Semantics.” Claire scoffed, releasing her hold on the string and letting the arrow fly. The arrow zipped through the air and struck the target- just not on the bullseye. Loki looked on, one judgmental brow raised at her poor performance.
“Who taught you to shoot?”
“I’m getting better,” Claire argued. “I’m not used to this kind of weapon.”
“Are you sure?” Loki asked leadingly, his lips curling inward as she missed again and he tried not to laugh.
“Yes,” Claire said stubbornly. “Ugh, no.” She readjusted her stance, even though she felt like it wouldn’t make a difference.
“May I?” Loki asked as he stepped up behind her. His lithe frame wrapped around hers, his large hand settling over hers gently on the bow. “Relax this hand,” he coached softly as his other hand found the crook of her arm. “Lower your elbow.” he gave the smallest amount of pressure as he corrected her stance.
Claire was in hell. Or maybe purgatory? Wherever she was, she was suffering. Loki’s hands on her skin was giving her all the good feelings and it was hard to focus on anything else. She could feel his chest pressed against her back, the heat coming off of him delightfully distracting. His breath teased the hair on her neck, spurring shivers of promise as he adjusted her grip on the bow. Those hands should be bronzed.
Claire couldn’t believe she was having a Princess Diaries moment.
“Breathe in,” Loki practically purred in her ear. Claire inhaled, feeling her back mold against Loki’s chest. She could faintly feel the steady beat of his heart. “Breathe out,” Claire released her tense shoulders as she exhaled. “Good. Now release,” Claire’s fingers released the string, eyes widening as the arrow FINALLY hit the bullseye. “Did that feel better?”
“What?” Claire asked dumbly, her mind focused on the feel of his skin on hers.
“It seems you can learn,” Loki said smugly. “Do it again.” he nodded to the full quiver by her feet with his chin, taking a step back to allow her space.
“Okay,” Claire’s fingers didn’t want to cooperate as she reached for another arrow, chasing it awkwardly around the quiver as Loki looked on. She finally grabbed it and strung it on the bow, taking her stance as she aimed at the target. She took a mental checklist of Loki’s instruction, correcting things as she went. Releasing her breath, Claire let the arrow go.
It sank into the wooden leg of the target with a hollow thunk.
“Somehow you have gotten worse,” Loki teased, a pleasant laugh escaping his dumb mouth. Claire scowled, tamping down her stupid butterflies. “Perhaps I should pretend to be you and participate in your stead.”
“Well if you wouldn’t distract me-”
“I distract you, do I?” Loki asked leadingly. “Why is that?”
“I’m not answering that,” Claire said stubbornly, crossing her arms over her chest and dropping the bow clumsily. “Shut up.” she added when Loki laughed at her.
“Very well, little wife, I shall leave you to practice without distraction,” Loki cackled, stooping to retrieve the bow from the ground for her. “Remember what I said.”
Moments later, Claire was still practicing when she felt another presence behind her.
“May I assist you with your form, Lady Claire?” a heavy hand touched her waist a fraction later, and Claire wrenched the offending hand around the newcomer’s back, bending his arm at a very uncomfortable angle. “Ah-ah!”
“I do not need your help,” Claire spat. “Touch me again and I will break your hand.Do you understand, Fandral?”
“Yes-I understand-ah!” the ‘warrior’ winced as she released him, pushing him away from her.
~~~~
Claire may have lost the archery competition, but she did well in the javelin throw and now she was taking a well deserved break to watch the rest of the morning events. Watching Loki toss boulders and giant trees that looked like telephone poles didn’t sound very exciting, but shit had she been wrong. Loki’s outfit, once pristine and appropriate, became damp with sweat as he hurled a massive boulder the length of a field, succeeding in defeating Volstagg and Hogun.
Claire learned that the telephone pole looking trees were called cabers, and the entire point of the game was to carry the pole down the pitch and then lift and flip it. None of those things sounded particularly interesting, but it did give her an excuse to ogle at Loki. To her surprise, it was actually a pretty interesting event, and all of the competitors were built. There were a number of competitors from Earth, like Steve and Bucky, as well as Asgardian competitors: Loki of course, as well as Thor, Volstagg, and Hogun. Soooo much eye candy to look at.
Hogun really had no business being so hot. As the heat of the morning rose, the stoic warrior had gathered his long hair in a top knot, and his beefy arms were on full display as he took his place at the end of the pitch. His biceps bulged as he cradled the end of the caber in his hands, jogging gracefully down the pitch before hefting the caber overhead. The caber did a graceful arc through the air, the other end striking the dirt and coming to a stop just before tipping over. The crowd groaned in disappointment but clapped politely as Hogun left the pitch.
Steve tried next, his caber almost flipping but just falling short. Anja cheered the loudest from Claire’s right. Sandwiched as she was between Sif and Anja, Claire heard every mutter of appreciation.
“You are a very fortunate woman.” Sif observed as Bucky threw his own caber, managing the first flip in the caber toss.
“Don’t I know it.” Anja preened, smiling when Bucky waved to her. Frigga offered no comments of her own, but giggled alongside them.
“I have so many questions about the metal arm.” Claire whispered to Anja.
“I also have questions.” Darcy muttered from beside Sif. Anja snickered, winked, and turned to wave back at Bucky. Volstagg took his turn next, failing to flip his caber. Thor managed to flip his as well, and finally, it was Loki’s turn.
Loki’s large hands cradled the caber delicately as he began his way down the pitch. Loose strands swayed as he moved, his biceps bulging with the strain of carrying the heavy weight. His handsome face was a mask of concentration, sharp jaw set firm as he prepared to launch his caber.
Loki planted his feet in the dirt, muscular thighs bulging as he lifted the caber over his head with a mighty roar. His tunic lifted with his arms, revealing a swath of toned muscle that Claire wanted to sink her teeth into.
The caber soared through the air, further than Bucky’s, planting in the ground with a solid thunk and creaked as it flipped, striking the ground with a loud crack. Thor bemoaned his loss as Steve and Bucky clapped Loki on the back.
“Woo! GO LOKI!” Claire cheered from the stands, setting off her airhorn multiple times to her neighbors shock and annoyance. The people from Earth in the audience laughed as the Asgardians looked around for the source of the loud noise in alarm.
“Where were you hiding that?!” Anja asked after her shock had passed. “Up your dress?”
“It has pockets!” Claire said gleefully, tooting the air horn a few more times. Somewhere in the crowd, Claire recognized the laughter of the former US president. She looked over her shoulder to see him and his wife cracking up, waving excitedly when they acknowledged her. “I made Michelle and Barack Obama laugh!” she giggled as she turned back toward the field, spying Loki as he and the others made their way to another area. Claire waved at him, feeling her cheeks grow warm when he waved back. He seemed surprised at her support, but it was clear he appreciated it.
“Look at how she blushes!” Sif teased.
“So cute!” Darcy chimed in.
“So precious!” Anja cackled.
“You guys are dicks,” Claire sulked, turning away from her so-called friends as her cheeks burned. Across the field, Loki and the other competitors were getting ready for the wrestling to begin. As the men were standing around talking as they awaited the judges, Claire took the time to inspect Loki. His tunic clung to him, wet with perspiration at the neck and back. His long dark hair had lost its beautiful bounce and had been tied back in a low bun, but several strands hung limp and loose around his collar. The tight pants he’d worn cupped his backside almost indecently, the fabric clinging to the meat of his thighs as if the material had been poured over his body. “God damn, I’m a lucky bitch.” she mumbled.
It was then that Loki noticed her staring, color rising in his cheeks as his companions ribbed him good-naturedly. Flashing her a smile, he made a swift gesture with his hand, and a flash of green on the railing in front of her drew Claire’s attention downward.
A cluster of delicate purple blooms sat atop a backdrop of fat rounded leaves, the stem just long enough to anchor in her hair.
Smiling, Claire tucked the small flower behind her ear.
“Ah, young love,” Frigga sighed wistfully from behind them. “His father and I were exactly the same way. We couldn’t keep our eyes, or our hands, off each other. We were caught in some very compromising situations in our early days.”
“Your Majesty!” Darcy gasped dramatically. Frigga merely chuckled.
“I imagine we’ll have quite a similar situation with these two.” she smiled at Claire knowingly. Claire averted her gaze as the women around her laughed like hyenas.
A cheer went up from the crowd as the start of the wrestling was announced.
~~~~
The wrestling was by far the best event of the morning. Loki and Fandral were locked in a vicious battle, and even though there were several yards between Claire’s seat and the match, she could still see the tantalizing strength of Loki’s muscles.
Sweat made his tunic cling to his back, fabric straining as his biceps bulged and flexed with the effort of defeating his opponent. Fandral pinned him, but Loki freed himself, shoving Fandral into the dirt with a feral snarl. Both men were dusty and filthy from rolling in the dirt, but somehow Loki was even more attractive, especially when mopping the floor with Fandral.
Thor and Volstagg had already had their bout (which Volstagg lost), and Hogun had bested Sif in theirs, but she’d been most excited to watch Loki in action.
“She is crazier than you are,” Fandral hissed, tightening his grip on Loki’s collar. He tried to shimmy free from Loki’s grip but found he couldn’t move an inch. “You two deserve each other.”
“Couldn’t agree more.” Loki gave Fandral a sneering smile before twisting his arm mercilessly and making him howl in pain.
“For Odin’s sake, I yield!” Fandral shouted, crawling away pathetically when Loki released his hold on him. “Odin’s beard. You’re both lunatics.” The referee called the match as Fandral stormed off, and Loki laughed aloud as Claire set off her air horn again. It was the most support he’d ever received at an event such as this, and it pleased him to no end.
After the mornings events, lunch was served on the field. Blankets were spread on the grass and guests stuffed themselves with cured smoked salmon, reindeer sausage, and cheeses, along with fruit tarts and thick waffles with fresh butter and lingonberry jam.
Claire and Phil shared a blanket with Thor, Frigga and Odin, and Frigga kept them all occupied by sharing her thoughts on the morning’s events.
“Did you participate in the games for your wedding?” Phil asked.
“Oh yes,” Frigga chuckled. “When I was much younger, I was quite athletic.”
“Back in those days, war games were commonly played before weddings. Frigga was quite brilliant when we played; I’ll never forget how she bested me.” Odin looked over at Frigga fondly, who clucked her tongue and shoved at him playfully. Thor looked at the blanket uncomfortably at his parents display of affection. Claire also felt uncomfortable, but it was nice to see they still cared for each other.
Would she and Loki feel that way about each other in two thousand years?
“Ah, there is our victor!” Frigga said cheerfully as Loki dropped onto the blanket beside Claire. He was clean again, his hair still wet and beginning to curl at the ends.
“I see you’ve all started without me,” he said jovially as Thor passed him the salmon. “Hello, darling.” he added softly to Claire.
“Hey yourself,” Claire replied, offering him the platter of waffles. “I didn’t know your hair was curly.”
“Ah, yes,” Loki said sheepishly, eyes dropping as his cheeks turned the slightest pink. “It can be quite annoying at times.” a flash of green covered his hair, leaving it completely dry with nary a curl in sight.
“I think it’s cute.”
“Thank you.” Loki said sheepishly before taking a small bite of sausage.
“Are you both looking forward to the knattleikr?” Frigga asked, reminding them both there were other people around.
“I for one am very excited!” Thor said eagerly, taking a hearty bite of reindeer sausage. “I wager that Claire’s team will obliterate Loki’s.”
“They each get a team?” Phil asked.
“Oh yes, it is customary for the bride to lead her guests against the grooms,” Frigga replied. “It shall be most entertaining, I think.”
“I shall be gentlemanly and go easy on you.” Loki offered.
“Aw, that’s so sweet. I’m gonna destroy you.” Claire grinned.
“Never before have I heard such a charming threat! Well done,” Loki praised, popping a berry into his mouth. “This could do with eel.” he muttered as he tore a piece from his waffle.
“Ooh yes, that eel we had a few weeks ago was fantastic,” Claire agreed. “We should go back sometime, without Fandral.” she rolled her eyes, glaring over at the offender on his blanket across the field.
“Indeed.”
The rest of lunch passed easily, an excited buzz filling the early afternoon air. After everyone had eaten their fill, the spectators returned to the stands while the guests competing went to change. Claire, Anja and Sif chatted as they changed, joining the men on the field as they held a spirited conversation.
“I’m just saying, her records from S.H.I.E.L.D. are pretty impressive. Are we sure she’s not of super soldier origin? Hmmmm?” Tony asked, peering at Steve intently. Steve pulled a disgruntled face, backing away from the scientist.
“Um hi, hello. What are we talking about?” Claire asked. “You pulled my records?”
“Oh just speculating wildly on your hitherto unknown paternity,” Tony replied cheekily. “You know, locker room talk.”
“That’s messed up.” Anja muttered. Claire nodded, annoyed and slightly embarrassed. Trust Tony Stark to find exactly what would make here uncomfortable.
“I’d prefer if you didn’t.”
“But I want to?” Tony shrugged.
“You do realize I carry knives on me all the time, right?” Claire asked. “Stop talking.”
“What are you gonna do; stab me with no warning?” Tony cackled.
“Stabbing is a warning.” Claire and Bucky said in unison. Both wore matching annoyed expressions.
“Shit, maybe she’s yours, Barnes.” Tony elbowed Bucky, who looked at Tony like he was insane.
“Dude, stop.”
“Enough, Stark,” Loki growled. “Your speculation is unwelcome.” Tony gave Loki a cheeky grin.
“I mean, I could continue to throw out theories-”
“By all means,” Loki returned the cheek. “I will gladly step aside and allow you to be stabbed.”
“Okay, that’s enough, no one is stabbing anyone,” Steve said as he stepped in the middle. He glanced at Claire meaningfully. “Right?” Claire shrugged.
“We’ll see.”
“Hey, my wife will be very upset if you stab me!”
“Will she, though?” Claire asked. Tony gasped in fake shock.
“I cannot believe I claimed you as my possible-daughter; you’re out of the will!”
“Oh no, not the will! How ever will I live?!” Claire asked sarcastically. “Can we hurry up and pick teams so I can beat you?” she asked Loki.
“So confident,” Loki graced her with a smile. “Very well. Shall we?”
~~~~
The teams were down to the final quarter of the game, and the score was tied. The eight competitors were damp with sweat and painted with mud, but spirits were high. Claire’s team of Tony, Clint, Bucky and Anja had done very well against Loki’s team of Steve, Hogun, Sif, and Thor. No one had scored a goal yet in the final round and Claire was determined to win.
“Come on, set it up!” she called to her teammates, dodging Thor’s attempt to block her. Even though the god of thunder was competitive, he was clearly afraid of hurting her as any contact between them had been feather light and easy to evade.
Loki on the other hand, was not going easy on her like he’d promised. Not that it mattered to Claire- in fact it would make beating him all the better. They were both competitive, and delighted in stealing the ball from each other.
The ball began to shimmer, darting off course from where Hogun had kicked it and heading toward Claire, poised to score a goal.
“I saw that!” Loki shouted, signaling for a pause just as Claire reached the ball. “Seidr is not allowed.”
“Are you cheatin’, doll?” Bucky gasped, glancing at Anja with a scandalized expression.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Anja said innocently. “This is clearly the work of nargles.” Claire snorted a laugh, curling her lips inward to smother her laughter as Loki glared at her.
“Of what, madam?”
“Nargles!” Anja insisted. “You know, mischievous creatures that like to steal things? They’ve clearly taken a shine to the ball.”
Loki had never heard such nonsense. He had studied creatures, both magical in nature and ordinary, and never once had he heard of anything called a nargle. Yet he detected no hint of falsehood.
Odd.
“Fine,” he conceded. “Since play was disrupted, we shall reset and start again. Claire, the ball, please.”
“But I was about to score a goal!”
“Give it to me.” Loki demanded, grabbing the ball with both hands.
“Make me.” Claire stepped back, pulling the ball tighter against her body. Loki pulled harder, equally determined to keep his hold. Claire elbowed him in the solar plexus as she tried to wedge her body between Loki and the ball. Loki huffed in amusement, shaking his head as he fought against her hold.
“You are such a brat.”
“I’m not hearing a complaint.” Claire made a noise of protest as the ball slipped free of her grasp.
“Merely an observation.” Loki grinned, tucking the ball beneath his arm. Claire growled, charmed against her will by his dashing smile. Stupid handsome jerk.
“Hey love birds!” Tony shouted. “Can we speed this up? I’m too old for this shit.”
“You can take a break if you need to, old man,” Claire teased. “Want someone to bring your walker?”
“Oh you are so out of the will. Nargles, my ass,” Tony groaned, bracing his hands on his lower back as he cracked his spine. “Throw the ball already!” he complained.
“I was waiting for you to finish complaining.” Loki murmured as he spun the ball between his fingertips.
“Yeah, that’ll never happen,” Bucky shook his head. “We’ll be here all day waiting.”
“Shove it Barnes!”
“You shove it!” Bucky shot back. “C’mon, let’s wrap this up before the ol’ fogey breaks a hip.”
“No more nargles?” Loki peered at Anja suspiciously, ignoring the vulgar hand gestures Tony aimed at Bucky. Claire smothered a laugh as Bucky aimed one back.
“Don’t look at me, I didn’t have anything to do with it.” Anja said defensively. Loki grinned. Lie.
He tossed the ball into the middle of the field, his balance thrown off as Claire immediately shot past him to intercept it. She slid on her knees between Sif’s legs when the warrior tried to block her path, jumping back up to her knees to chase the ball. Thor reached it at the same time, heading her off. Perfectly at ease, the god of thunder posed no threat and simply wished to annoy his new sister by preventing her from advancing down the field. Claire was ready to win.
“Peace, sister, I do not wish to hurt you-ah!” Thor gasped as Claire moved him aside with a hip throw. Thor struck the dirt and Claire spun away, cackling as she kicked the ball back toward her teammates. The crowd laughed at the comical sight of the god of thunder sprawled in the dirt, as did Loki and everyone else on the field.
“You can’t do that!” Loki shouted in protest as Claire raced past him with the ball.
“Nobody told me that!” Claire shouted back gleefully. Bucky was waiting to block Hogun as Claire kicked the ball further up the field.
“What in Hel’s name are you doing?” Loki raced to Thor’s side, hoisting his oafish brother to his feet by his collar. “We are going to lose!”
“Did you see her throw me, brother?” Thor laughed in amazement. “She is fast as lightning!” he crowed.
“Gods, you are a fool. Come on!” Loki took off running, intent on stealing the ball back from Claire and Anja before they could score. He caught up to Claire easily, but she sensed him coming and darted to the side, evading his long reach. He followed closely, their arms tangling as they fought over the ball. Claire’s foot hooked around his and he was tugged off balance. Loki hit the dirt, rolling as Claire kicked the ball far ahead to Anja. He watched it sail through the air with sinking hope for victory. His teammates made no effort to foil their opponents and it reached the blonde with no interference. Loki watched in dismay as the captain allowed Anja to leisurely approach the goal and lightly tap the ball between the goal posts.
“Great job, sweetheart.” Steve praised as the crowd cheered from the stands. Anja smiled, squeaking with surprise when Bucky swooped in from behind and she found herself sandwiched between the pair.
“Gross.” Claire’s nose wrinkled as both men kissed Anja on the cheek.
“Victors are meant to celebrate,” Loki mused from the ground. “No kiss for me, I suppose.” he sighed theatrically.
“And risk scandal? Perish the thought.” Claire replied.
“It’s the least you could do after besting me.” Loki groused.
“Told you I’d wipe the floor with you,” Loki’s ire faded as Claire grinned down at him, arms crossed over her chest. Seeing her satisfied grin was worth being knocked to the ground. “Need a hand?” she helped him to his feet, helping him brush dirt and loose grass off his tunic.
“Well done.”
“Thanks. How’s Thor?”
“In awe of your skill, apparently,” Loki chuckled. “You shall have to teach me that move.”
“You know, I offer private lessons.”
“Do you?” Loki purred. “When could one partake in said lessons?” Claire wasn’t able to respond, as she and Loki were swept up in celebrating both her teams victory, and the end of the wedding games.
~~~~
“Say what you want,” Claire said around a mouthful of fire-roasted bird (she kept telling herself it was chicken). “They might be a little weird, but the Asgardians know how to party.” Despite the full day’s itinerary, people had flooded the beaches at sunset, setting massive mounds of wood ablaze along the coastline. People milled all around them- dancing, laughing, and eating and drinking as they celebrated the summer solstice. It seemed everyone with hair had braided beautiful blooms of flowers into their hairdos, even the men.
Claire sat beside a large bonfire with her uncle, taking a break from socializing with all the guests. She had to hand it to her new mother-in-law, combining her and Loki’s wedding with the celebration of the summer solstice had garnered a massive turnout. All around them people seemed to be having the time of their lives as they danced around the monumental fires.
“Do you think you could be happy here?” Phil asked somberly, breaking the happy spell cast on the evening. Claire stopped chewing, looking at him in surprise. She knew that as the wedding loomed closer, her uncle’s guilt for talking her into this grew. Now that it was less than 24 hours away, he was a mess. (Let’s be honest, so was she.)
“Honestly…” Claire looked around at all the frolicking people, adorned with flower crowns and henna tattoos of runes and sigils, and felt oddly at home. She’d always felt called to witchcraft so she was familiar with runes and divination, both of which seemed ingrained in the culture here. In Asgard, she wouldn’t be considered weird for her witchy proclivities. “I think I’m gonna love it.”
“Don’t lie just to appease me, Claire. I know you’re nervous.”
“I am, it’s true. All of this is definitely going to take some getting used to, but I can see myself being really happy here. This beach party makes me feel right at home.” Further along the beach, Claire spotted Thor and Loki among the crowd, both of them bedecked in braids and flowers. She had seen Loki sporadically through the crowd, nursing a mead. Thor was already drunk, hanging onto Loki for balance as they made their way to a blanket. Loki was in his signature green, although he’d forgone the leather for the beach party. Instead he wore soft-looking pants and a linen-type shirt, the fabric draping over him sensually as it shifted in the breeze. The v-neck of the top showed a triangle of his skin, and Claire wanted to see more. Bereft of his leathers, he looked practically naked. Slutty.
As if he knew she was gawking, Loki’s green eyes flicked in her direction, catching her in the crowd immediately. The heat of his gaze scorched her. He’d opted to line his eyes with kohl, making the green stand out even more than usual. Without taking his eyes off her, he said something to Thor and set off toward her.
“Even considering…” Phil’s question was lost on the wind as the intense eye contact with Loki continued unbroken as he made his way toward them.
“Hmm?” Claire offered helplessly, lost in the intensity of the gods gaze. Fuck, he’s hot. She suppressed a shiver as she remembered their passionate kiss under the willow tree. She wanted more of those kisses, and she wanted them bad.
“I said-”
“Gleðilegt Jónsmessa!” (Icelandic) Loki announced as he reached their blanket.
“Bless you?” Claire offered. Loki laughed heartily, shaking his head.
“Happy Midsummer to you both,” he translated. “May I?” he gestured to the open space between them on the blanket. Phil looked irritated, but Claire tucked the fan of her skirt beneath her to give him room to sit. “Are you enjoying the celebration?”
“I am, actually. It's not too different from the beach parties back home. Although we didn’t paint runes on our skin and people were usually crossfaded.”
“Crossfaded?” Loki asked.
“Right, sorry,” Claire smiled. “Remember the pot we smoked in the garden?” Loki nodded, ignoring Phil's confused look. “If we'd gotten drunk too, we would have been crossfaded.”
“I see. Is that something you enjoy?” Claire shrugged.
“It's alright, but I prefer weed to alcohol,” She explained. “Can I ask- why is everyone drunk? Is it part of the tradition or-”
“Did no one tell you?” Loki balked. “What a terrible slight,” He scooted closer to her, close enough that their knees pressed together. “Lore has long said that evil spirits walk amongst the living on the longest day of summer. The bonfires are to frighten them away, and ensure a good harvest later in the year. One tradition is that the more a man drinks, the more successful his crops will be come harvest time. Over time it's changed to anyone's endeavors and people imbibe in Freyja's name.”
“She's the goddess of midsummer? I thought it was love and fertility.”
“She is also associated with the sun and the warmth of summer,” Loki replied. “There is also a tradition for lovers to jump over a bonfire together- it is supposed to bring good luck.”
“Good luck as in lots of babies? The pagans considered midsummer a celebration of fertility.”
“That they did,” Loki chuckled. “And yes, that is the belief here as well.”
“Are people going to make us jump over a fire?” Loki laughed at her question.
“Possibly,” he said sheepishly. “My mother is all but frothing at the mouth at the idea of children.”
“My mom would be too.”
“What happened to her?” Loki asked gently. “You said she passed when you were young, but-”
“I don't like to talk about it,” Claire chewed her bottom lip, her fingers rubbing her wrist in agitation. “It was really traumatic.”
“My apologies.” Loki frowned. He knew mortals were fragile, but how bad could it have been for the usually composed woman to act that way? Phil looked back and forth between them in silent astonishment. It was like a night and day difference between their first meetings. Instead of shouting and insulting each other, they seemed to have found an equilibrium, or at the very least a modicum of intimacy. Seeing them sit in companionable silence, Phil felt a bit better about talking Claire into this.
“Gleðilegt Jónsmessa!” A young child crowed happily as she waved at the prince and future princess. Her mother looked on from the beach, offering a sheepish smile as her daughter spoke a mile a minute to the prince.
“She is asking if you would like flowers.” Loki translated, smiling at Claire.
“Oh! I thought I couldn't have them,” Claire had wanted flowers, but as an unmarried woman, she wasn't allowed the braids other women wore theirs in.
“The braids, no, but you may have as many flowers as you like.”
“Just one, please.” Loki accepted an orange blossom from the little girl with a smile, turning to offer it to Claire. Claire swept her long hair over her shoulder, and Loki took the opportunity to lean closer.
“Next year,” he murmured as he tucked the stem behind her ear. “You will have a flower crown to put the others to shame.”
“I'll hold you to that.” Claire laughed, glad she wasn't the only one of them thinking about the future. The little girl squealed with delight, throwing her arms around Claire's neck in a surprise hug. Her mother gasped and reached for the girl, but Claire laughed and hugged the little girl back. The girl said something quickly, her small finger toying with the flower petals.
“She says it is as pretty as you are,” Loki translated. “It’s true. The color suits you.”
“Even though it's not green?” Claire teased. “How do I thank her?”
“Tack själv,” Loki replied, charmed when Claire repeated it flawlessly to the young girl before sending her back to her mother with a wave. “You have no runes? No wishes for the coming year?” He asked in surprise when he spied her bare arms.
“I didn't know where to get them! Do you have them?”
“Of course,” Loki grinned, pulling up his sleeves to show off the artwork on his skin. Claire recognized the runes, the symbols for abundance, joy, power and transformation. “Do you know them?”
“Mmhmm,” Claire hummed, tapping each rune with a finger. “Uruz, wunjo, dagaz, fehu.”
“How is it that a Midgardian is wise to the ways of magic?”
“My mom was very religious, but it was never the right fit for me, and when she died...” Claire swallowed. “I rejected it completely. I had a hard time believing a just god could allow her to die the way she did. Still do. Eventually, I found my way to witchcraft.” Claire grinned.
“I see. Someday I will ask you about it. I'm curious how our magics compare.”
“I am too.”
“Loki!” Thor called from a ways down the beach. He had gathered all the Avengers around him, along with a few of the political guests and Asgardians. “LOKI!” he waved cheerfully.
“Norns, what does he want?” Loki sighed.
“You must jump the fire!” Thor cried, miming a jump as best he could in his inebriated state. “Bring your wife to be!”
“He’ll never leave us alone.” Loki groaned, looking over at Claire apologetically. Claire threw her head back and laughed as Thor continued his poor pantomime, spilling mead over himself and the unsuspecting sand beneath his feet.
“We should put him out of his misery,” she said as Thor’s inner lack of equilibrium caught up with him and he dropped his mead. “Just this once.”
“Just this once.” Loki echoed, offering her his hand once he’d gotten to his feet. The group of onlookers cheered as they approached, garnering more attention from the party goers. Before long, a large crowd had gathered around the bonfire. Excitement filled the air as space was made for them to approach the fire, welcoming them into the circle.
Loki was even more handsome in the firelight, the dancing flames casting shadows that danced along his sharp cheekbones like a lovers caress. If she stretched up on her tiptoes, she’d be able to kiss the smooth expanse of his cheek. She considered it, until she saw how worried he looked.
“Loki? You okay?” she asked. Loki’s eyes darted from the fire to hers, the wild edge receding when she grabbed his hand. Was she imagining it or was his hand shaking?
“...yes, I’m fine,” Loki replied absently, his throat fighting to close up as he tried to ignore the flashbacks of the last time he’d been this close to fire. Claire wasn’t convinced; he could tell by the way her lips twisted. Thankfully, she said nothing as the crowd parted began calling for them to jump. “Are you ready?” Tucking her concern aside for the time being, Claire looked back at what awaited them.
The fire beckoned like a glistening promise of what was to come, if they were brave enough to face it. Coming to Asgard was a challenge unlike any Claire had ever faced before, but Loki made the struggle worth it. Despite their rocky start, Claire felt they’d found their equilibrium at last, and formed a strong bond to see them through the challenges still yet to come. She just hoped he felt the same.
The fire crackled loudly, wispy fingers of smoke beckoning them closer. The only way out was through.
“Ready, Freddy,” Claire looked up at Loki, smiling when he laced their fingers together. “Let’s do this.”
There was a short run, a flicker of heat, a feeling of weightlessness, and then sand between her toes as they touched back down.
Loki's shirt collar rode low on his chest as they landed on the other side, allowing her to see the rune above his heart. It was the bindrune for love. For all their flirting and skirting the line of the rules, seeing the rune made Claire's heart flutter like nothing else. Physical connections were one thing, but to know he wanted something deeper made her happy enough to burst. He does feel the same.
An eruption of cheers met them as those gathered shouted their congratulations and showered them with blooms from their braids. Loki’s hand reached out to fix the flower in her hair, his thumb tracing the apple of her cheek. Claire was about to tackle him onto the sand when Thor lumbered his way over.
“Congratulations to you both,” he said warmly, massive hands clasping their shoulders. “My new sister!” he shook her excitedly, releasing her as he leaned in close. Loki’s hands steadied her when she staggered, warmth from his palms blooming over her hips. “I was able to procure the gift you asked for.”
“Are you shitting me?” Claire burst into laughter, rocking back into Loki’s broad frame. “You actually found a talking llama?”
“Of course! A prince of Asgard always keeps his word,” Thor puffed up with pride, his face breaking into a huge grin as he pulled her into a hug. “I am joking, sister. It is only a regular llama. Try not to be too disappointed, hmm?” he laughed as he released her again. “In the name of Odin All-father- I, Thor Odinson, do hereby bless this union!” he shouted in his booming voice, spurring another round of cheers from the crowded beach. “May you be fruitful, and happy.” he gave Loki a meaningful glance, embracing them both again before going off in search of more mead.
“Would you like some runes?” Loki asked over the roar of the crowd. “I can paint them for you.”
“Yes! I'd love some.” Claire was grateful for a reprieve from the mortification of strangers cheering for her to get pregnant.
“I will fetch the supplies,” Loki smiled. “Excuse me.” Claire made her way back to the blanket where Phil waited, waving at the people who greeted her.
“So you two are friendly now?” Phil asked as she sat down again. Claire's cheeks turned pink as he stared at her knowingly.
“We've been spending time together.” she replied defensively.
“Supervised time?” Phil pressed.
“Obviously,” Claire said. “You know the rules as well as I do.”
“Mmhmm.” Phil wasn't convinced, but he wasn't going to run to Odin about it. Even if Phil did not like or trust Loki, they were adults.
“Something to say?” Claire challenged as she picked at the hem of her skirt. She really wasn't one for dresses, but they were growing on her. The material was so soft it felt like butter.
“Just weird, that's all. You seem awfully close for people who haven't spent any time alone.”
“Mmhmm,” Claire said absently. “Look I know you're not fooled, so just don't say anything okay?”
“How did he do it?”
“How did who do what?” Claire asked innocently. “I don't know what you're talking about.”
“Mmhmm.” Phil grumped. Claire returned to picking at her skirt as Loki returned with henna ink and a brush.
“Which runes would you like?”
“Surprise me, but I have one request.”
“Of course.” Claire smiled shyly before looking directly at the spot above his heart. Loki grinned, and she thought she saw a faint blush on his cheeks as he took brush to ink and got to work. He worked methodically, creating straight, confident lines with a steady hand. She watched him work, completely relaxed under his hands. She took the opportunity to really study him, the sharp angle of his cheek bones, the arch of his eyebrows, the length of his eye lashes. A strand of his long black hair had escaped the braids and hung in his handsome face, curling softly against his cheek and looking sleek as an oil spill in the light from the fire. Claire studied the elegant shape of his hands, appreciating the soft sensation of their skin brushing as he worked. His forearms were slim and toned, and she could see the veins and cords of muscle flex beneath his skin. Though hidden from her gaze, Claire knew his biceps were just as luscious and the way the fabric of his shirt stretched over them was making her feel feral. He really was a beautiful man. Between them, their legs touched at the knee, the tops of their bare feet squished together. The hem of Claire's dress fluttered in the breeze, exposing her ankle, and Claire laughed suddenly at the thought of Loki fainting at the sight.
“Are you alright?” He asked, looking up from his work.
“Yeah, just had a funny thought,” she explained. “My ankle is showing.”
“How scandalous.” Loki teased.
“Not gonna faint?”
“Not after seeing your-” Loki stopped, glancing over at Phil. “Never mind,” Claire smiled wolfishly as she recalled how he'd reacted to seeing her in leggings. The poor bastard had no idea what was coming. “It's not funny.”
“I think it's hilarious. God of mischief, struck dumb by a pair of leggings.”
“It was not the leggings, but what they contained. Or rather, barely contained. I have half a mind to disallow you from wearing them in public.”
“Fat chance,” Claire replied. “And honey, if you think those were scandalous, you've got another thing coming.” Loki hung his head, exhaling through his nose.
“You're trying to distract me. Let me work, please, lest you end up rich in fish.” Claire giggled at his ludicrous threat.
“Considering my love for sushi, that sounds lovely.” Loki snickered along with her as he finished the last rune.
“I'm afraid I can't give you this one,” he tapped the end of the brush on his chest. “It wouldn't be appropriate.”
“Okay, I'll do it then. Lemme see?” She asked, taking the brush from him. Loki swallowed before tugging his shirt collar down to expose the rune. Claire tugged her own collar down to begin painting the rune when Phil finally seemed to wise up to what they were doing and flicked water at them from his glass.
“Behave please. You're in public.”
“For fucks sake, he's gonna see it tomorrow anyway!” Claire groaned in exasperation, rolling her eyes when Phil shook his head.
“Look I personally don't care. But there are very specific rules here.”
“Fuck the rules. We're getting married in less than 24 hours,” Claire huffed. “Ridiculous.”
“Perhaps it would be best-”
“It'll take two seconds, mischief,” Claire pleaded. “Unless you really don't want to risk it.”
“Do it.” Loki challenged, pulling his collar back down with a smirk. Claire grinned back, getting to work painting the rune above the swell of her left breast. Each time she glanced at the rune on Loki's chest, he was staring at her unrepentantly. She figured he was ogling her just as she'd done to him earlier, and pulled her collar lower just to give him something to stare at.
Loki couldn't help but stare as she lowered her collar further than necessary. He'd had reservations going into this farce, but now...he dared any to stop them from being wed tomorrow. His ever present desire for her bubbled in his veins and any man who dared try to take her from him would die slowly and painfully. He spied a speck of black in the valley between her breasts and straightened, trying to see it better.
“It's a tattoo,” Claire said knowingly, catching his eye as she finished painting the rune. “Similar to these, but this is permanent. Wanna see?” She grinned wolfishly, making him laugh as he nodded. She glanced around for any naysayers before exposing the tattoo. Loki found himself filled with a new appreciation for the moon cycles as he drank in the sight of her tattoo. Whimsical and delicate star bursts lay scattered around phases of the moon connected by a thin line of dashes. Dividing her chest in half, the tattoo graced the valley between her breasts like a hanging chain. The black ink contrasted her creamy skin beautifully, and he longed to trace it with his fingertips and tongue.
“It's lovely.”
“Any chance I'll see you later tonight?” Claire asked quietly. “I could show you up close.”
“I cannot tonight, darling. At least, not as I have been. I have wedding duties to attend to after this.”
“That's unfortunate,” Claire sighed. “Here I was hatching schemes.”
“You’ll have to hatch your schemes tomorrow night, menace,” Loki's eyes shone with mischief as they shared a smile. “Otherwise I will be unable to fulfill my duties tomorrow.”
“Well when you put it that way,” Claire dabbed the rune on her chest with her finger to test its dryness. When her finger came away clean, she released her collar and Loki mourned the loss. “It’s a date.”
~~~~
Halfway through the night, Claire was jostled awake by a woman asking her to follow her. At the woman’s insistence that it was important, Claire begrudgingly left her warm bed and followed the woman out of her chambers and down the darkened palace hallways. After what felt like an eternity of walking, the woman ushered Claire into a dimly lit large room and closed the door behind them. As Claire’s eyes adjusted the low lighting, she noticed the unusual number of couches as well as people that filled the room.
“What in the hell…?” Claire’s foggy brain was working overtime to try and process what was going on. Loki’s words from early echoed in her mind: Sleep well. You will need it. Turning back to the woman she asked, “What is this?”
“It is your kvángaðr vaka, my lady.” The girl replied.
“My what?” Claire asked, blanching as a man approached her with his arms outstretched. “Um…hi. Can I help y-hey!” Claire slapped the man’s hands away when he tried to remove her nightgown.
“Please don’t be alarmed, my lady. We only wish to please you.” The man said apologetically.
“I don’t understand. I am half asleep and confused and I want you to stop touching me.” Claire said, pushing the man’s hands away a second time. “Who are you? What is going on?!”
“This is a safe place, my lady; no harm will come to you here,” the woman replied gently. “We are masters in the sacred arts of pleasure. This is called a marriage awakening in your tongue. It is meant for you to discover what pleases you so that your marriage bed will be enjoyable.”
“Be that as it may…” Claire said hesitantly, trying to think of the most diplomatic answer. “I’m not sure Prince Loki would like the idea of-”
“But he is already here, my lady.” The woman answered, gesturing to a far corner of the room.
“What?” Claire balked, following the woman’s arm to where Loki stood…with his cock in a blonde woman’s mouth as she knelt in front of him. How charming. “Oh,” she added quietly, pointedly ignoring the lines of muscle she could see from here. Loki hid his physique behind all the metal and leather, and oh my was he hiding a feast for her eyes. Claire wasn’t sure where to look first- his large hands as they guided the woman’s head, the peppering of dark hairs that trailed enticingly down his chest, his thighs, his biceps…
Arousal pooled between her thighs as she gaped at him helplessly, her jaw slack as she burned in awe of his strength. She’d seen his muscles up close in the training arena, but she wanted to know what his hands felt like in her hair as he fucked her mouth.
“My lady?”
“I wasn’t drooling,” Claire blurted quickly, snapping her attention away from the smooth motion of Loki’s hips to the woman beside her, curling her lips inward as the woman gave her a respectful look that clearly meant ‘okay bitch, whatever you say’. “I still don’t understand.”
“That’s alright, my lady; we will guide you,” the woman said. “Our goal is to help you learn what your body likes. Tomorrow before the wedding ceremony, we will give our report to Prince Loki. Don’t worry, my lady, you shall receive a report as well,” she added, placating Claire before she could open her mouth. “This way, when your marriage is consummated, it will be more enjoyable for you both.”
“That…actually makes sense,” Claire found herself saying. “But what about the ‘no-sex-before-marriage’ thing?” she asked.
“Do not fret my lady, your maidenhead will remain intact,” the serving girl assured her. “We would never deny your husband his privilege.”
“Privilege,” Claire repeated numbly, glancing over at Loki again, who still had his cock in a woman’s mouth (not that she was surprised) and was face-fucking her rather roughly. Jesus dude. Definitely ignoring how hot that is. Wait, is that a different girl? “Riiiight.”
In the firelight, Claire could very clearly see the flex of Loki’s strong thighs and the dimples of his ass cheeks as he fucked into the pliant mouth of the woman on her knees. Her hands grasped at his thighs for balance, and Claire’s insides burned with fury and jealousy. How dare that cunt think she had a right to touch her Loki?
“You said arts? Multiple?” Claire asked. The woman smiled, offering her hand.
“Indeed I did, Your Highness.”
~~~~
“Enjoying yourself?” Loki’s silky smooth voice hissed in her ear, completely shattering her little world. She was laid out, naked, on a remarkably comfortable couch, with the man from before face-planted between her thighs. The woman who’d woken her sat behind her, cradling Claire against her chest as she caressed Claire’s goose-pimpled flesh with soft furs.
“I was,” Claire sighed irritably as she opened her eyes to glare at him, her jealousy from earlier coming back to the fore. “What do you want?”
“I’m simply curious what has you making so much noise.” Loki said teasingly, enjoying the annoyed look on Claire’s face.
“I’m surprised you could hear anything over your grunting.” Claire shot back. Loki grimaced for a brief second before flashing a joking smile.
“Yes well…dry spells will have that effect on anyone.”
“True.” Claire conceded as a shiver ran through her. She could feel her orgasm building but if she was honest, the man between her legs was prolonging it more than helping her reach it. She could easily give him instructions, but she was content to enjoy the prolonged pleasure at this point.
“Have you come yet?” Loki asked softly, his eyes rapt on the dark hair between her thighs.
“Working on a third,” Claire sighed. “Why, have you?” she asked nonchalantly, shivering as a fur trailed across her nipples.
“Of course I have. Twice.” Loki scoffed.
“That’s twice?!” Claire balked as her eyes dropped to his still-raging hard on. Loki shot her a wolfish smile.
“And I have several more left in me. Think of the fun we’ll have, little wife,” he smirked, dropping to his knees behind her head. “Shall I give him directions?” he said softly in her ear, sending a chill down her spine. Claire nodded helplessly, wanting so desperately to reach her peak. And maybe, just maybe, a small part of her wished Loki would touch her. Okay, a big part.
“Please.” She said airily, her face flushing when he grinned predatorily at her.
“You’re off center, boy. To the left,” Loki instructed the man, smirking satisfactorily when Claire’s body seized and she gave a loud squeal. “Hold her down, for goodness sake; you’ll never get any traction with her thrashing about,” he snapped, watching with delight as Claire’s face flamed, her breath coming in pants as her hips twitched. The man’s grip turned to iron, keeping Claire in place as the woman’s arms locked around her to keep her still. “Harder,” He commanded, growling appreciatively as one of Claire’s hands fisted in the hair at his nape. “Better?”
“Better!” Claire gasped, her body tensing and jerking as she imagined how nice it would be if Loki were to pinch her nipples. Her orgasm swelled and burst suddenly and she stopped caring that she was on display as she felt as it crashed through her.
“Oh, I can’t wait to do this to you myself,” Loki groaned in her ear as his hand snaked its way down her belly, leaving electric ripples of pleasure in its wake. “Tomorrow it will be me pleasuring you- my head between your thighs and my tongue on your clit,” Claire’s muscles clenched in anticipation as his long fingers neared the top of her sex. “What do you think of that, little wife?” he murmured heatedly.
“Prince Loki.” the woman holding Claire broke the spell, her eyes focused on his hand pointedly.
“My intended is more than capable of saying whether she minds my touching her,” Loki replied shortly as he stood up. “Aren’t you?” Claire was puzzled by his question. Did she mind? Two seconds ago she was aching for him to touch her between her thighs, but now she just wanted a nap. Well, if she didn’t know, he wouldn’t either. Or so she thought, until the smug bastard grinned at her. “Focus, darling, do you wish for me to stop?”
“Not really, but shouldn’t your dick be in someone else’s face right now?” she managed to ask in an exasperated tone. Good job Claire. Loki gave a soft laugh.
“Quite right,” he agreed. “But since I helped you…whom do you think I should solicit next? The brunette or the redhead?”
Avenger!Loki x Avenger!OFC | Avengers AU | Slow Burn, Friends to Lovers, Fluff, Eventual Smut, Hurt/Comfort, Whump, Angst with a Happy Ending
From their first meeting, Loki was drawn to the question of Theolene Amaris. Each time Loki swore he discovered the answer, a new question arose.
However, the question of Theo Amaris was not why he stayed.
Unlike Thor, who spent centuries with his brother, Theo only needed a sliver of time to break through Loki’s icy, guarded exterior. Sharp wit, keen intellect, and a knack for magic sparked the friendship, but with time Theo worked her way in, bearing witness to the wounds inflicted at a young age. She embraced the mangled mess of a monster that Loki had come to quietly loathe without question, making him feel worthy of standing among “Earth’s mightiest heroes.” Traces of her were in his blood, his bones, his every thought and dream, consuming him in a way that he never experienced before.
However, 72 hours passed since learning that Theo withheld a significant part of her identity, forcing Loki to question everything he thought he knew about the woman he loved.
It had been years of trying to answer the question that was Theolene Amaris...
… Just as Loki was on the verge of an answer, Theo was on the cusp of being torn away.
Years after Sleipnir was taken, Loki had closed himself off from everyone around him apart from Isabella. Only she saw his grief and the growing disdain he had for the Odin family. A decade ago, Odin had announced to all of Asgard that Thor was to become their next King. That day, Loki hid away in his room and didn’t leave unless he was accompanied by Isabella. His soulmate was forever trying to find a way to get into the Royal Stables and set Sleipnir free, but he was bound to Odin, he couldn’t leave without him. News found Isabella and informed her that a giant wolf had appeared on one of the distant islands north of Asgard. Loki had elected to completely ignore any mention of his children to save himself from the heartache of going through their kidnapping again.
Now though, Loki had become the respectable Prince that Odin wanted him to be. Cunning and manipulative, Loki had made his way up the ladder of hate. Many, like Lady Sif, hated him for personal reasons but some Aesir just hated him for his research into seiðr and other ranges of literature from different realms. Loki was okay with their opinions; they didn’t matter to him if it meant that he could remain in Odin’s good graces. Over the years, Loki had stored away all the hate for the old man deep inside him and never voiced them outside of the privacy of his own room with Isabella.
Awakening on the day of Thor’s coronation, Loki grumbled and rolled over onto his side and wrapped an arm around Isabella’s waist. He didn’t want to get up and face Thor becoming King of Asgard when he clearly wasn’t ready. Sensing his turmoil, Isabella opened her eyes and smiled at the man in front of her.
“Something bothering you, my prince?” Isabella mumbled, shifting her weight on the bed so she could sit up and wrap her arms around him. He settled into her embrace and kissed her head.
“Today is the day of triumph for Thor Odinson,” Loki mumbled, his hand snaking up Isabella’s back under one of the tunics she had stolen, “He is not ready, not even mother thinks he is, but Odin is so ready to give him the Throne.”
Isabella hummed in agreement and pecked his lips before slipping out of bed to go stand under the waterfall shower Loki had put in when he came back from his research trip to Vanaheim. The waterfall was freshwater and seemingly fell from nowhere at all.
When he was alone, Loki sighed and flopped gracelessly onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling as he allowed himself to think. He dived into his mind and started to organise his thoughts and lock away any jealousy. He thinks about the plan, about letting some Jötnar into Asgard’s vault to distract Odin from crowning his idiot brother as King of not only Asgard but of all the Nine. It was curious, in a way, how the Jötnar had agreed to his plans so willingly and how not even Heimdall had seen what he was doing in Jötunheim.
The monsters were desperate to have their beloved Casket back and he could tell why. Their home was falling to pieces. Loki couldn’t help but feel sorry for the Frost Giants and how decimated their world was. Despite this, Odin wouldn’t take action and he doubted that he ever would. Thor wouldn’t understand either and so he would wilfully ignore their pleas or wage war on them just to shut them up. Thor was like that; he was always acting before thinking which led to many lectures by Odin and Frigga. There was this time where…
“Don’t let hatred consume you, Lohk, it isn’t a very good look on you. Frigga always says that those thoughts will corrupt you,” came a voice from by his side. He jumped up and turned to look at Isabella, her hair wet and a towel covering her body. She was the epitome of beauty, in his eyes. She had always been there for him. Always showed him that despite everyone else hating him, she would always love him.
“Today will be the day to start Asgard’s doom, pet,” Loki grumbled as he stepped up and green shimmered around him, changing his green tunic into his ceremonial garb, golden horns gleaming as the Asgardian sun slowly emerges in the East. Noticing the attention, he was getting, he chuckled, “you’re staring, my love.”
Finally coming to her senses, Isabella giggled and snapped her fingers, her towel changing into a deep green dress that showed her loyalty to Loki over Odin, even if it was subtle. Loki stared her down, seeing the symbolism behind her colour of choice and he wrapped an arm around her waist, conjuring a tiara onto her forehead with little horns on the front. At his side, she was truly the epitome of beauty and devotion.
“You know, sweet girl, I can wear less,” Loki whispered in her ear and Isabella shivered as his deep voice rolled through her but instead of acting on her desires, she turned in his arms and wrapped her own around his neck before pecking his lips. Their kiss deepened and Loki hungered for more, his hands roaming down her body to cup her ass, causing a squeal to escape her throat and she pushed slowly away from him.
“You know we cannot, Loki, you must go speak with Prince Thor before he departs to make his grand entrance,” Isabella mumbled, her eyes dropping from his emerald eyes to his lips more than once and she bit her own lip, “as much as I hate denying you, today is a busy day for Asgard.”
Loki hummed and his appearance darkened slightly as his mind roamed back to his plan, “you’re right again. Today will be a big day for Thor and Odin.”
With that, he kissed her cheek and marched out of their room, his boots clacking on the golden marble flooring. Isabella watched him go with a frown, she knew something was going on with her Loki, but she had no evidence, so she stayed to herself in hopes that she was just overreacting. Loki was a good man, always so polite and concise in meeting and on their dates through Alfheim, Vanaheim and sometimes even her home planet, Midgard.
Recently, though, Isabella noticed a change in Loki, he always frowned when he thought she wasn’t looking, he was always commenting on Odin’s choices for Thor being King and on more than one occasion, he claimed that he should be King over Thor, but she knew deep down that all Loki wanted was to be accepted and equal to Thor.
As Loki walked down the golden halls as he had for centuries, he considered the lifetime he had spent in Thor’s shadow. He had never known love from Odin when Thor was there. When he was little, Loki cried for hours for his father, wanting to know why Thor was always taken away to study as a warrior or why he was being allowed behind the big golden doors that lead to a meeting chamber. He didn’t understand at all, he wanted to know why he wasn’t treating the same as Thor. He wanted to be equal to his brother, but he couldn’t be, he would’ve known Odin better if he was loved by the man.
“Well, a glorious day it is for a coronation, wouldn’t you think brother?” he spoke as he walked up to his brother’s side and smiled the most convincing grin he could, “I’d hate for it to be raining on your big day.”
“Loki! Brother how are you this sweet morning? Is Lady Isabella not on your arm this day?” Thor turned to his brother and clapped him on the back with a grin, “it is a joy that you are here today brother, without you I wouldn’t have made it here,” as Thor spoke, he did not notice Loki’s smile drop into a small one where he looked hopeful since it quickly disappeared when he continued, “even if it were with your silly tricks!”
Loki moved away from his brother and nodded numbly, regaining himself and groaning as he realised, he had just allowed himself to break down his barriers for a moment and he got hurt. “I would never let you die, brother, you have my sincere word.”
“Sincere? Sincere? You?” Thor turned to look at Loki with a dropped jaw and a look of incredulity. “You, my brother, are incapable of sincerity.”
“Am I?” Loki turned to look at Thor as he noticed a servant bring over two jugs of Asgardian mead and he smirked as he twisted his wrist, shimmers of green surrounding the cups as the servant looked down and screamed, dropping the tray to reveal snakes in the mugs rather than mead and Loki smirked to himself.
“Loki,” Thor sighed as he looked down at the mugs on the floor and the traumatised servant, “that is such a waste of good wine.” He turned to look at his brother and saw him smiling, smiling himself when he realised Loki was merely playing.
“Oh it was just a bit of fun,”  Loki commented as he watched the servant on the floor with a smirk, twisting his wrist again and the snakes disappeared in a green glow and he looked at the servant innocently as he scrambled to his feet, “right, my friend?” Loki asked and the servant nodded before scampering off and he let out a breathy laugh before the horns sounded in the distance. He turned to Thor and smiled, “I know we’ve had our rough spots throughout the years but do not doubt that I love you, even if you do ruin your image with that bloody hammer.”
Thor laughed and held his neck at the side gently, observing his brother for the first time in a long century, “and do not doubt, Loki, that I am always here if you are struggling. I miss her too.” He watched Loki freeze and his smile fall into a grimace and he knew he said the wrong thing, but he couldn’t bring himself to care, “when I am King, you’ll understand why your children were taken.”
Loki rolled his eyes as he looked away and he patted Thor on the back before walking away and into the throne room, meeting Frigga at the door and he bowed to her before offering her his arm and when she took it, he felt relief in his heart that she chose to walk with him and not Thor. He nodded to her and started walking along the gold of the spacious throne room, stopping at the steps leading up to Odin’s throne. He bowed to Odin and Frigga dipped into a curtsy before he guided her up to where she was to stand, and he stood a step below her.
No sooner than the moment Loki had stepped into his place had the song of Mjolnir sounded behind the crowds. They all cheered for their heir. Prince Thor was to become King. King Thor, Loki snickered as he watched his egocentric brother strut down the golden floor to Odin on the throne. Loki looked out into the crowd and easily spotted Isabella beside her sister at the front. She wasn’t cheering, she was mumbling to Serenity and laughing. He smirked slightly as he realised, she was probably talking about Thor in the way he was thinking. She was too much like him for her own good, that girl.
Any moment now, the frost giants would be headed straight to the Casket and will successfully distract Odin. Loki watched as Odin stood from his throne when Thor knelt on the floor before him and he banged Gungnir on the ground, silencing the crowd almost immediately.
Thor was smiling. He, of course, thought he knew what was coming. Unfortunately, he would not have his gracious day.
“Thor…Odinson. My son, my heir, my firstborn,” Odin started, and Frigga glanced at Thor lovingly and Loki scowled subtly before schooling his features to indifference, “you stand here today before all of Asgard to proclaim yourself their King. So long entrusted with this mighty hammer, Mjolnir. Forged in the heart of a dying star, from the sacred metal of Uru. Only one may lift it. Only one is worthy. Who wields this hammer commands the lightning and the storm. Its power has no equal -- as a weapon, to destroy, or as a tool, to build. It is a fit companion for a King,” Odin chuckled breathily at the statement and Thor beamed.
As Odin and Thor went through the vows, Loki bit his bottom lip in anticipation. They were here. He felt it and so did Odin. The look on his face spoke wonders.
“Then I, Odin Allfather, do so name you…” Odin became distant for a moment and Loki’s heart leapt and he had to hold back the pleased grin when Odin mumbled, “frost giants…”
Odin banged Gungnir again and Loki knew that the monsters had perished at the deadly beam of the Destroyer. When Odin started to march down to the vaults, Loki and Thor followed silently.
When they reached the Casket, Thor looked around before turning to Odin and growling out, “they should pay for what they have done, this day.” Loki stayed silent, watching Thor now start to explode and he didn’t even need to do anything.
“They have paid, with their lives,” Odin replied, studying the condition of the Casket of Ancient Winters. Loki had never been allowed near it, nor had Thor. It was a battle prize but without it, Jötunheim would die. Odin didn’t care but Loki did, he didn’t know why but he did, “the destroyer did its job and the Casket is safe. All is well.”
“All is well?!” Thor boomed, raising Mjolnir as he took a step closer to Odin and the Casket. He really was angry and it excited Loki that his plan to prove Thor wasn’t ready was actually working! Thor rolled his eyes and continued, “They broke into the Weapons Vault! If the Frost Giants had stolen even one of these relics...”
“but they didn’t,” Odin mumbled, still staring down at the Casket, half-listening to Thor’s tantrum.
“Well I want to know why!” Loki looked at his brother with a raised eyebrow, what was he? Five hundred?
Odin sighed and spoke again, “the Casket of Ancient Winters belongs to the Frost Giants. They believe it is their birth right.”
Thor fought back with strength but not as Loki would’ve, “And if you hadn't taken it from them, they would have laid waste to all the Nine Realms!”
The Allfather was starting to look tired and Loki suspected that the planning of the coronation was never a very enjoyable event so that must be the reason.
“I had a truce with the Jötnar King, Laufey.” Odin breathed and Thor huffed in annoyance.
“They just broke your truce!” He yelled at the old man and Loki just watched in surprise.
“What action would you take?” Odin questioned and Loki knew it was a test, but Thor didn’t, so he continued.
“March into Jötunheim as you once did, teach them a lesson, break their spirits so they’ll know never to step over our borders again!” Thor answered quickly, not using his oafish brain.
“You’re thinking as a warrior!” Odin exclaimed, glaring at Thor in anger.
“This was an act of war!” Thor replied.
“This was an act of but a few, perhaps rogues.” Odin sighed and eyed Loki carefully before turning back to the Casket, “Hoping to take back the Casket and free one of three monsters.”
Loki did not respond to the bait; he stayed still and raised an eyebrow curiously at Odin’s choice of words.
“As King of Asgard,” Thor began, only to be immediately cut off by Odin.
“But you’re not King! Not yet.” He seethed and Thor froze, Loki eying them carefully with reigned in amusement.
Loki took that as a hint to leave and he hurriedly pulled Thor out of the Vaults and up to the banquet rooms.
One behind the safety of the banquet halls doors, Thor stormed away from Loki and upturned a table, the food laid across it dropping to the floor as a result of his fit of anger. He seethed and sat down on the steps a bit away from the overturned table and he fiddled with his hands with irritation.
Loki slowly approached Thor and sat down beside him.
“It is unwise to be in my company right now, brother.” Loki turned his head to look at his brother with a faked sympathy, “this was to be my day of triumph.”
Loki looked down at the golden floor before turning to face his brother, “It’ll come, in time. If it’s any consolation, I think you’re right. About the frost giants, about Laufey… everything. If a few could penetrate Asgard’s defences then who’s to say they won’t try again? This time with an army.” Loki fed Thor’s burning fire with an eager grin, hoping that his brother would take the bait as usual.
Thor sighed and turned to look at Loki, “yes, exactly what I mean!” he exclaimed and stopped short when Loki spoke again.
“But there’s nothing we can do without defying father…” Loki trails off as Thor glances at Mjolnir and now he knows that Thor has fully taken the bait, “no, no, no I know that look, Thor no.”
“It’s the only way to ensure our borders.” Thor glared at Loki as he gripped Mjolnir in his hand tight.
“Thor, it’s madness.” Loki leaned forward, trying to keep his brother’s attention.
“Madness? What’s madness?” Volstagg spoke up from the other side of the table, stopping from, his attack on the boar leg to look at Loki and Thor carefully.
“nothing, Thor was merely jesting,” Loki started before Thor cut him off by walking forward.
“The safety of our realm is no jest. We are going to Jötunheim.” Thor announced and the Warriors Three burst out laughing.
It was at that moment that Isabella walked in, her dress shimmering and disappearing into comfy leather leggings and a green tunic of Loki’s, “is something wrong? Why are we all gathered here and not meeting the King and Queen to discuss the interruption today? Serenity is already chin height up in conversation with the Allfather and she doesn’t want to be alone.” She walked over to Loki and sat down beside him.
“Thor proposes we march into Jötunheim just like father did and demand they keep their distance. That is no way a king should behave, and it will damage their views even more of the future of Asgard. We cannot have an oversensitive King,” Loki drawled, holding Isabella’s hand as a reminder that he was doing this for her.
But still, despite Loki’s one-sided effort to stop his brother from visiting Jötunheim, they were already on their way to the frozen city dressed up warm and covered by their cloaks. Heimdall gave them little to no resistance and easily opened the Bifrost to them.
Once in Jötunheim, Loki looked around the wasteland with a suspicious feeling of safe.
“What a waste. No wonder they want to escape, this place is falling apart.” Fandral commented as they walked on the uneven rocks towards the palace that looked as deteriorated as anything else in this world.
Loki watched their surroundings carefully and saw a few Jötnar following them from behind and he summoned a dagger into his hand, his seiðr on the ready as well if he needed it. When they arrived in the melting throne room, Thor stepped forward.
“Laufey. King of the Frost Giants. I am Thor Odinson and I demand that you explain yourself for your attack on Asgard this morning.” Thor spoke with venom in his voice and Loki noticed how Laufey’s eyes narrowed when hearing ‘Odinson.’
“It was the work of but a few, little prince. It was not my intention to attack your kingdom on the day that you would become King. It may seem like it to your mind but I assure you, I was not aware of this attempt on your coronation,” Laufey spoke to Thor and since Loki was the God of Lies, he knew immediately that the Jotun was lying to his brothers face but he didn’t dare comment on it in fear of his treachery being revealed to everyone.
“And yet you sit here, completely calm when you should be on your knees apologising to Odin about how you betrayed his treaty.” Thor snapped back.
Loki stared at his brother in shock before stepping forward and holding his bicep, “Thor look around you, we are heavily outnumbered here. Think, please…” He begged but Thor pushed him away.
When Loki stared at Thor in surprise, Thor turned to him and growled out, “know your place, brother.” That sentence was one he had grown used to, but it still broke his spirits every time it was said to him. It showed that Thor never saw him as his equal, he saw him as everyone else did, the spare. Loki stepped back and remained silent.
“I will let you leave now if you follow this gift them Asgard will not have to face Jötunheim in battle again. Fail to accept this chance and I will show you no mercy.” Laufey growled out and Loki saw his chance, stepping in front of Thor to look at Laufey and again, his body filled with the feeling of love and safe. He was confused but refused to let it bother him.
Taking a moment to consider everything before inclining his head, Loki spoke to Laufey, “we will accept your most gracious offer.”
Thor glares at Laufey a moment longer before relenting and walking away but a nearby Jotun mumbles, “run along home, little princess.”
Loki goes pale and he realises that his plan is all but nothing now, this wasn’t meant to happen, “damn.” He mumbled before Thor chuckled and threw Mjolnir into the frost giant and he did not get back up afterwards.
A battle ensued, one full of rage and hatred. Loki fought with his seiðr and daggers to save himself but when Volstagg yelled out, “don’t let them touch you!!” he got distracted and one of the Jötnar grabbed his wrist, intending to freeze him but instead, his skin shifted blue and he stared down at his hand as a feeling of home and safe flowed through him again. He stared down at his hand and watched as it turned blue with markings appearing on the back of his hand and he stared at it in horror and he met eyes with Laufey before pulling out a dagger and forcing it through the Jotun’s chest and he watches his hand shift back to his normal pale.
“Thor!” Loki called, backing away from the fight as the Warriors three and Sif did, “we must go!!”
“So, go!!” Was Thor’s reply but that’s all it took for Loki to give up on waiting for his brother and to sprint back to the Bifrost site.
“Heimdall open the Bifrost!” one of them called but no rainbow appeared, and Loki’s heart sank. Heimdall had warned them and they hadn’t been careful.
A beast appeared in front of them, a protector of the realm and Loki froze. He knew this was his last moment. But then Mjolnir flew by him right through the beast. It fell back and Loki almost sighed in relief before the Bifrost opened and Odin appeared riding his war horse.
“Father! Let’s finish this together!!” Thor called, holding up Mjolnir in delight. Odin turned his gaze over to Thor and hissed.
“Silence!” was all he spoke. Laufey then joined Odin but Loki couldn’t care less.
He saw Sleipnir staring at him, he knew that look in his eye, it was longing, and he felt it too, he missed all of his children so much but he could not go to them without Odin finding out. Even now, even looking at Sleipnir felt wrong and he missed his little boy.
Laufey declared war and then the Bifrost brought them all back, he watched a servant walk Sleipnir outside so that Odin could freely speak to Loki and Thor.
An argument ensued between Odin and Thor and Loki watched them again and when he did try to step up, Odin yelled at him and he stepped back and looked at the ground.
“Thor Odinson... You have disobeyed the express command of your King. Through your arrogance and stupidity, you have opened these peaceful Realms and innocent lives to the horrors of war!” Odin plunged Gungnir into the Bifrost controls and it roared to life behind Thor and Loki watched from a bit away, “you are unworthy of this realm, unworthy of your title! ...Unworthy of the loved ones you've betrayed. I hereby take from you your powers.” Odin summons Mjolnir and Thor watches in horror, “in the name of my father and his father before, I Odin Allfather, CAST YOU OUT!” he yells and Mjolnir blasts lightning into Thor, pushing him into the Bifrost. He then brought Mjolnir to his lips and whispered, “Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.”
Loki watched as Odin threw Mjolnir into the Bifrost and then closed it and he sighed softly. He teleported away and into his chambers where Isabella was waiting on his bed with a book and she looked at him with a bright smile, “Loki!” She got up and ran over to him, hugging him tight and nuzzling her head into his neck, “you came back!”
“Of course, I did. Not all of us made it past Odin, though… Thor has been banished. If anything happens to Odin… I’m King.” Loki mumbled sadly and gripped onto his soulmate, allowing himself to break in front of her, “I think I might be one of them, Isabella… I think I might be Jotun…”
“What makes you think that, Lohk?” Isabella mumbled, running her black nails through his hair with a gentle smile.
“One of them touched me but I didn’t freeze. I went blue!” He mumbled back and sobbed even harder, Isabella holding him as close as possible as he let go.
“Shall we go see?” Was all she replied with, but Loki knew she meant the Casket and he nodded numbly. He took her hand and walked down to the vaults, his nerves becoming an all-time high as he walked inside with her.
Approaching the Casket, Isabella stood behind him and he reached out, gently taking a handle into his hand and he shook his head desperately when he saw that he was slowly turning blue.
“Stop!” came a call from the top of the stairs and Isabella froze, turning to look at Odin with a smirk on her face.
“Am I cursed?” Loki asked as he gripped the Casket and his breath heaved as he felt the Casket reach out to him and tie herself around his seiðr. He gasped in pain but also in surprise to how right it felt for that to happen.
“no…” came Odin’s response and Loki let out a breathy chuckle.
“Then what am I?” He asked as he glared down at the Casket with a hatred but the feeling inside him wasn’t hate, it was confusion and betrayal.
“You’re my son,” Odin replied, breathlessly and Loki shook his head, turning to face the Allfather for the first time in their conversation.
“What more than that?” He seethed and watched Odin’s reaction carefully, seeing how solemn he had become, he realised the truth, “the Casket wasn’t the only thing you took from Jötunheim that day, was it?”
“No,” came Odin’s breathless reply and Loki narrowed his eyes before putting the Casket down, ignoring the sadness in the back of his mind coming from the parasite that was the Casket’s consciousness. “In the aftermath of the battle, I went into the Temple, and I found a baby. Small for a giant's offspring -- abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufey's son.”
Loki is sent reeling from the news and he mumbles it back to himself, ignoring how Isabella stands beside him and holds his hand comfortingly, “Laufey’s son?” he turned to look at Odin again and he whispered a soft ‘yes’ to which Loki looked around the room and tried to find any reason why Odin would’ve taken him from his home. This was why he had felt so right on Jötunheim, why when he looked at Laufey, he felt so safe. He was his son! His heir!
“Why?” he whispered, feeling so small now under his father’s gaze and Isabella’s sympathetic hugs. “you were knee deep in Jötnar blood, why did you take me?!”
“You were an innocent child,” Odin began but Loki would have none of it.
“No, you took me for a purpose, what was it?” He waited moments before he snapped and screamed, “TELL ME”
Odin sighed, defeated and he looked at his adopted son sadly before starting to explain, “I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day, bring about an alliance, bring about a permanent peace... through you. But those plans no longer matter.”
Loki looked up at Odin, heartbroken as he mumbles a quiet “What…?” Before going on a rant, tears brimming in his eyes as he let go of Isabella, “so I am no more than another stolen relic, locked up, here, until you might have use of me?”
“Why do you twist my words?” Odin mumbled, starting to feel faint.
“You could’ve told me what I was from the beginning, why didn’t you?”
“You are my son. My blood. I only wanted to protect you from the truth,” Odin replied quickly.
“What? Because I-I-I am the monster that parents tell their children about at night?!” Loki yelled, tears dripping down his cheeks as he walked up the stairs, “It all makes sense now, why you favoured Thor all these years because no matter HOW MUCH YOU CLAIM TO LOVE ME, you couldn’t have a FROST GIANT sitting on the throne of Asgard.” Loki then froze, seeing his father on the floor reaching for him and he quickly got on his knees and started to shake as he observed his father, “guards! Guards, help!”
The guards ran in and gently lifted Odin, carrying him off to where he will sleep for as long as need be. Loki, however, stayed behind and hugged his legs.
Isabella sat beside him and rested her head on his shoulder, “I’m sorry,” she gently whispered into his ear and Loki shook his head and turned to look at her.
“None of this is on your shoulders, my princess, the blame is all on Odin.” He growled lowly and accepted her hug with a sad smile, “I’m a monster, after all…”
“Stop, stop that. You’re no monster. You’re my love, you’re loved Loki! Monsters aren’t loved, they are feared, and I do not fear you! Nor does Serenity!” Isabella stroked his cheek and smiled lovingly at him, standing up and pulling him to his feet, “Now let’s go find Queen Frigga and sort this out, shall we?”
Loki weakly nodded and headed out the door with her, happily accepting that she loved him and that he wasn’t a monster. As they walked to Frigga’s room, he noticed that people were staring at him and saluting him in the Asgardian way. He felt confused before he realised that he is now King Regent, unofficially, but still King.
“It’ll take some getting used to, all of this,” Isabella mumbled as a maid curtsied to her, knowing that when Loki takes Gungnir, she will be Queen Regent of Asgard, and it will be her duty to take up the mantle of Goddess of Marriage in Frigga’s place.
When they walked into Odin’s bed chambers, Loki gravitated toward his side. He had seen an Odinsleep before but not one so drastic as this. He looked pale and so very aged, and Loki could not help but blame himself for doing this to his father, adopted or not.
“You know, then?” Frigga spoke up and Loki’s eyes darted to her before he nodded in admission. “We wanted to tell you, Loki, but we never had the time to. You were always with Thor, going off on adventures and we couldn’t stop you. Odin wanted you to know but he could never find the right words to say. After what happened with your children, he made me swear that we would never tell you about your Jotun blood.”
“It wasn’t his right to hide something so important from me, mother.” Loki bit back, watching Frigga hold her breath and then nod sadly, “It wasn’t a burden. You couldn’t have just told me from the beginning? Couldn’t have raised me in my native skin?”
“But then everyone would’ve found out and another war would’ve waged for you to return to Jötunheim, you don’t belong there…” Frigga countered, meeting her sons’ eyes sadly and Loki sighed.
“Laufey didn’t want me. Odin made that quite clear.” Loki sighed and looked at the sleeping man, glaring hatefully at the man who had stolen his true life.
“But was he telling the truth?” Isabella spoke up, her arms crossed, and she was leaning against the bedpost with an indifferent look on her face, “what if he is still using you now? Manipulating your perception of the Jötnar for his own gain so that you will hate them more?”
“you raise a good point, darling, that does sound like Odin Allfather. Passing on dirty bias onto his children so that they will do his bidding when the time is right. He would expect them to trust him. Even the Jotun runt he took in.” Loki mulled over the thoughts before his head was whipped to the side and he held his cheek in surprise, “Isabella?”
“You… are not a monster nor are you a runt!” Isabella seethed and Loki stared at her in shock as his cheek started to sting from the slap, “am I clear?”
“Crystal!” Loki whimpered and Isabella backed off, satisfied. “but there’s still the issue of the throne. Mother? Will you be stepping up as regent?” he asked hopefully.
Frigga shook her head and held Odin’s hand, “this Odinsleep is not like the others, I fear the worst and so I must implore you to take the throne, Loki. It is what we have trained you for. Thor is banished…”
As she spoke, the doors to the Odinsleep chambers opened and a lord walked in holding Gungnir and Loki stared at it in shock.
“Until Odin awakens, you are King. Do us and all of Asgard proud, Loki, my King.” Frigga bows her head and Loki turns to the Lord and hesitantly reaches out, taking Gungnir from him and holding it in his hand, feeling the power that swamped through him. He was powerful before but now that he held Gungnir, his seiðr increased and he revelled in the warmth it gave him.
Loki bowed his head to Frigga before offering his arm to Isabella, who immediately took his arm, and he walked out of the room. Holding Gungnir, he focused on the seiðr levels in the core of Asgard and found them to be weakening since Odin had announced that seiðr was a meagre set of skills and that only women were to use them. He would need to rectify that but not right now. Now, he headed back down into the Vaults with Isabella and stood before the Casket.
“Take it home, Lohk, that’ll end the war instantly.” Isabella offered, holding onto Loki’s arm, and smiling softly at him.
“And risk them taking over all of the realms again? Not a chance. If we limit the use of the Casket, then… perhaps.” Loki replied and watched his wife sit on the marble floor; her feet dipped in the water in front of it.
“Meet with Laufey, then.” Isabella spoke, gazing up at him as she leant back against the marble.
“I could but the only leverage I have is his Casket,” Loki mumbled, pulling the Casket off its podium, and staring down at it.
“Maybe it’s not? What if Laufey misses his child? What if he is worrying for the child stolen from his temple. Think, Lohk. Why would someone abandon their baby in a temple?”
“Oh, I know, Isabella!” Loki snapped before sighing. Isabella frowned and stood up, holding his shoulder, and smiling at him with understanding.
 “I know this is hard for you, Loki,” She mumbled, her eyes filled with the love she felt for him and he glanced away, not feeling worthy of such appreciation.
“It’s not just hard, I’m King now! There’s so many things that I’m not ready for that are now going to be expected of me,” Loki sobbed, holding onto Isabella’s hands now in a desperate attempt to ground himself, “the Casket recognises me as one of the Jötnar and it scares me because if it recognises me then so does Laufey and…”
Loki was interrupted by a guard walking into the Vaults and kneeling before him, one hand over his heart in a fist, “Your Royal Highness, the King of the Jötnar has requested your council.”
Loki’s heart stopped, he didn’t think Laufey would come so soon but he turned to look at Isabella and she nodded gently so he took a deep breath, grabbed the Casket of Ancient Winters, and nodded to the guard, allowing the man to guide him to the throne room. As he walked, he knew the Jötnar were there because the walls were now lined with ice and his breath showed when he exhaled.
Sitting down on Hliðskjálf, Loki peered down at Laufey and his group, “you requested to see me, Laufey-King? I assume this is on the threat of war?”
Laufey regarded him with a careful gaze before stepping forward, noticing how the guards immediately raised their swords to him in defence of the regent king, “I come to discuss the Casket of Ancient Winters, Odinson. Since my treaty with Odin is no longer in effect, I would like to request that you give it back. Jötunheim is dying without its life force and I see no reason why Asgard should host it any longer.”
“You make a strikingly good argument, King Laufey but I suggest you work on your bargaining skills a bit better before speaking to me. I, Loki, King Regent of Asgard in Odin’s place. Why would you think I would so easily hand over the Casket to someone who knows how to lay waste to lands by merely lifting up that box?” Loki asked with a smirk as he leaned to the side of the Hliðskjálf to allow Isabella to sit beside him and he held her hand behind her back so that Laufey could not see that he needed her for strength.
Laufey let out a growl and glared at the youngest son of Odin, “Odin dared give you the name of my son. Odin murdered my first-born son after the war as a warning and then took our Casket. Why should I trust you to do anything different from what he did?”
“Because I am not the senile old King that once sat here. I am Loki. I was born just as the war ended to Queen Frigga. She raised me more than my father and so I have compassion where Odin or my big brother do not. I see your realm for what it is, Laufey, I see it for how it used to be before Odin declared war. I apologise for the wrongdoings of the Aesir that took you away from the protection of the realms. Odin may not realise it, but I do, we need Jötunheim for the Yggdrasil to stay balanced. Without Jötunheim on the Yggdrasil, things will fall into ruin and I do not wish that to happen. With that in mind, I propose a truce,” Loki gave pause, studying Laufey’s expressions thoroughly with a raised eyebrow of false boredom.
“Another bargain for the peace of your world?” A general behind Laufey huffed out and Laufey held out his hand to stop the general.
“If it is a truce the false King requests then he shall get it. On what demands, your majesty?” Laufey asked, a sinister smile spreading across his face.
Loki stilled and made eye contact with his birth father and then he chuckled, “on the demands that you leave Asgard alone, patrol your subjects more thoroughly and in return we shall give you back your Casket.” Loki hesitated for a moment before smirking and standing up, “and perhaps your son when he is ready.”
Laufey also paused, observing the false king for a proper amount of time before speaking up, bravely keeping his sorrow out of his mind, “my son? My son died when your father waged war on my kingdom. He was slaughtered, made an example of. I had no hope of saving my boy. Now you sit here, Loki Odinson, with my son’s name and I ask... why? Why would Odin agree to give the throne to his spare and then also allow him to make decisions so rash as these are?”
“As I said before, I am not the old man who wanted to keep peace. I have a level mind, that is true but if you wish for a war then that is what Loki Odinson will give you,” Loki spoke and watched as Laufey took in his words and he chuckled deeply, “has rumour of my lies spread to even the most abandoned Realm? Do you know what I am, King Laufey?”
Laufey chuckled deeply and shook his head as he watched Loki, “you are a Silvertongue, you lie and manipulate, and you are the dark son of Odin for practicing seiðr without Odin’s consent. You grew from a boy that knew no boundaries of trickery into a perfect Prince. That is all you ever will be. A prince of Asgard.”
“I am more than just a meagre Prince, King Laufey. You stand before King Loki of Asgard and you will show some respect. Actually, I tire of this conversation. You may leave now; we will discuss this later.” Loki dismissed Laufey and watched as the guards pulled him away from the throne room, hearing the monster growl and try to fight.
Isabella stood from the Hliðskjálf and stood beside Loki, her hand resting on his shoulder gently and she helped him slow his breathing to one of calm, “you worry too much, my King. Asgard is prospering under your rule and everyone knows you will always be a great King. Offering to exchange peace for their Casket was a brave idea. Give Laufey a few days and see how he thinks about it when those days are done.”
Loki looked at her and nodded softly, grateful that she was there to keep him balanced.
