Royal Godparents to Royal Godchildren
I did this list back in 2012, and got some great responses. I've updated and edited parts of the list. Again, any corrections and/or adds, message me! Thanks in advance!
When choosing godparents for their children, the parents often chose friends or other relatives. Often in royal circles, royals also pick other royals. Here’s a partial list. (Yes, I know some lists are incompelte as some of these royals’s godchildren are not royals themselves.) If you have any additions, please feel free to message me!

~ "A diamond and sapphire tiara, 1890s, with a Royal provenance, each foliate element centred by a cabochon sapphire, flanked by a floral motif, set with old cut diamonds, gold and silver mounts. The cabochon sapphires can be swapped out for turquoise cabochons. The tiara belonged to Princess Thyra, daughter of King Frederik VIII and Queen Lovisa of Denmark. -Her siblings were King Christian X of Denmark, King Haakon VII of Norway, and Princess Ingeborg of Sweden, among others- Princess Thyra never married and left the tiara to her niece, Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark, who chose to marry her first cousin, Prince Knud, the younger brother of King Frederik IX Their only child was Princess Elisabeth, receiving the tiara from her mother in the 1960s. She was a first cousin of Queen Margarethe II and wore it quite often at state functions and in 2004 at the wedding of crown prince Frederik and Mary." ~

Queen Alexandrine's Sapphire Tiara 💎 On display at Koldinghus for the exhibition Mary and the Crown Princesses as featured in the documentary Dronningens skatkammer (2022). Created in the late 1890's by the Russian court jeweller Bolin, it is a sapphire tiara, set with eight oval-cut sapphires, as well as numerous old mine- and single-cut diamonds. Originally a convertible bandeau, it was converted permanently into a tiara in the 1960's by Danish court jeweller A. Michelsen. The tiara was a present from Nicholas II of Russia and Alexandra Feodorovna to their cousin Princess Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin for her wedding in 1898 to the future King Christian X of Denmark. In 1933, Alexandrine herself gave the tiara as a gift to her new daughter-in-law, Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark, for her wedding to Christian and Alexandrine's youngest son, Knud, in 1933. After Caroline-Mathilde's death in 1995, the tiara was passed on to her youngest son, Christian, and his family, whose possession it was in until 2018 when it was auctioned off by Christian's three daughters, Camilla, Josephine and Feodora of Rosenborg. It was sold for 2.000.000 DKK to an unknown buyer. In 2020, it appeared in the Amalienborg Museum's Fabergé chamber and as of 2022, it features in Koldinghus' exhibition in honour of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark's 50th birthday. Its reappearance has prompted speculation that the buyer was none other than the Danish monarch, bringing the tiara back into the Danish royal family.

I have to say I dislike pippas wedding dress. I think it’s the lace tbh it looks cheap kinda.
My fave wedding dresses are Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Grace of Monaco, Princess Marie of Denmark & Lady Sarah Chatto. Other dresses I like are those of Mary of Teck, Queen Rania of Jordan, Queen Leticia of Spain, Queen Elizabeth, Rita Hayworth to the Prince Aly Khan, Queen Margrethe of Denmark . Caroline Mathilde
Tumblr media
Caroline Matilda shared in her lover's unpopularity because of her support for his reformsand her behaviour, which was offensive to a nation that had a traditional veneration for the royal house of Oldenburg, and brought the Crown into contempt: her way of openly demonstrating her new happiness was seen as shocking, as when the couple reportedly barely concealed their affair during the masked balls of Caroline von Schimmelmann. Struensee introduced a reform in which burgher-class people were allowed to dine informally with the royal family, and the Queen acquired friends outside the aristocracy such as Johanne Marie Malleville, which was seen as a scandal
Daughter of Frederick, Prince of Wales. Aged just nine when her brother ascended the throne. Originally, Caroline Matilda’s older sister, Louisa, had been destined for Denmark, but they chose, instead, the youngest, when Caroline Matilda was only 12.
Unfortunately, Prince Christian wasn’t quite the white knight.  For Caroline Matilda, the marriage was never going to be a success. She was treated as a passing fancy and “discarded” the way a king might a mistress, except in this case she was his consort and a princess in her own right.
Christian’s growing unpopularity might spark a revolution, so he was persuaded to leave for a period of several months, but refused to take Caroline Matilda. When he returned, their marriage seemed to improve slightly, but this may have been due to a curious habit Caroline Matilda had picked up in his absence – wearing a male riding costume featuring scarlet coats and buckskin breeches.
By the fall she fell seriously ill, and she was persuaded to consult Dr. Johann Struensee.
Caroline and Struense started to get involved in a sexual relationship that was underway by the spring of 1770, but may have begun as early as 1769. As Struensee’s political power grew, rival court factions devised a plan to get rid of him.
The Order of Mathilde (Mathildeordenen) was a Danish royal order, created by the queen of Denmark, Caroline Matilda of Great Britain, the order was used to award members of the royal house, and a close circle around the royal couple and followers of the queen and her lover Johann Friedrich Struensee. Eleven of the twelve recipients were decorated on the birthday celebration of the monarch the same day the order was created.
She became known for her charity towards poor children and orphans. Although no longer Queen, Caroline Matilda still played an important role in Danish politics, because she was the mother of the future King.
