Dear Jowee, I’m not sure if you remember her, but I know a hero that thought you were... well, it’s hard to explain. All I can say is that she misses you and Mari.
Tumblr media
Jowee: “I miss the Heroes too... They were really brave and strong, and we had some great adventures together. Even in the darkest moments, it felt like things would be okay as long as the Hero was around to set things right...”
Tumblr media
Jowee: “...I could really use that kind of reassurance right about now...”

cogito, ergo sum [fic]
[ kirby oc oneshot; feat. elyssia ( @princesspixel7 ) ]
summary:  “i think, therefore i am.” -- latin proverb after going missing for a number of days, when elyssia finally finds her, they’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back to the light.
makato and her friends were having quite a bit of fun with their new mermaid tails. the pendant had given it to them for deep-dive deep, an underwater stage in patch land, but all four warriors knew the true stakes of this mission. kirby and prince fluff had gone off to find eleven, the kingdom's close friend who'd gone missing shortly after the creation of darkato. all the elyssians knew was that she'd taken residence somewhere in this universe, going off of what darkato had said.
if eleven disappearing meant anything, it was that she was fighting her darkness. something like this hadn't happened since the world of light. makato knew they had to get to her before any villains did, or it'd spell nothing but trouble for everyone involved.
they were exploring a sunken ship within the stage, when suddenly they came across two familiarly colored dolphins: one pink, one baby blue with a crown on its head. "kirby! prince fluff!" makato cried, swimming forward to meet her friends, hugging them in relief. "oh, i'm so glad to see you're both--" "ELEVEN!" cj's shout caused everyone to snap around to face the merman, and as she followed his gaze, she saw her. lying sprawled in a corner, a shroud of shadows emanating from her form, was the angel they'd been looking for.
makato practically shoved past kirby and prince fluff, bolting over to eleven and scooping her up in her arms. concern was shining in the girl’s eyes as she looked her over. eleven, on the other hand, looked quite peaceful despite being out cold. makato felt a lump forming in the back of her throat, and as she blinked back tears, amanda swam forward and placed a hand on her shoulder. "we need to get her to the surface before anything else happens," she said solemnly. makato gave a nod in response, and prepared to leave, when...
a sudden rumbling caught them all off guard, and a mighty roar rang through the ocean as a large squid appeared, practically breaking the ship in half. "SOMETHING'S HAPPENING!" cj yelled as everyone swam backward, keeping their distance from the creature. kirby and prince fluff swam forward, looking ready for a fight. "you guys need to get eleven out of here! we'll handle this big guy!" prince fluff ordered, and all four elyssians gave a firm nod as they came together. using their pendants, a bubble formed around the unconscious eleven, and they all swam up towards the surface with the bubble in tow.
makato never took her eyes off eleven until they got back to shore. ~~~~~~ on the shore, makato sat next to her unconscious friend, still keeping an eye on her, just in case. as she began to fully process the situation, she felt tears roll down her cheeks as her gaze fell on the soft sand. "...this is all my fault," she said to no one in particular, not noticing cj sitting down next to her. "explain to me how it's your fault that our sworn nemesis created an evil doppelganger of you in your sleep?" he asked, a slight smirk on his face as he nudged her shoulder. "c'mon, this is malvada we're talking about. of course she'd do something unthinkable like that." makato beamed a look at him for a moment--half surprise, half melancholy--before her gaze turned back to the unconscious girl next to them. they were interrupted by the sounds of splashing on the shore, something that caught both kids' attention. kirby and prince fluff surfaced from the waves, reverting back to their puffball forms and looking quite sorry at the scene in front of them. "we're sorry we had to find her like this," kirby apologized. "it's alright," said amanda, who was now standing next to makato and cj with cheryl. she beamed a sympathetic smile at the puffballs. "you did the best you could." the angel then turned to face makato, who'd placed her head in her knees. "come on," she spoke quietly, kneeling down and placing a hand on her back. the heroine, still teary-eyed, looked up to face her. "we need to get back to the apartment," she added, nodding her head towards eleven, "and figure out how to help her." ~~~~~~ they'd rushed her back as quick as they could. she did look quite comfortable in the bed, but the four knew that as long as that dark veil surrounded her form, she wasn’t comfortable in any sense of the word. to no one's surprise, makato was at her side. she was whispering quiet apologies, keeping one hand tight on her pendant, hoping it would do something, anything, to help her friend in her darkest hour (no pun intended). "...eleven," she spoke in a broken voice, "no matter how much darkness surrounds you, i know there's still light in there." makato had seen eleven fighting during the world of light, seen the bravery she showed. she knew her words were fact. but she also knew why this was happening... "it's true there's a little bit of darkness in me," she admitted, "but i can still fight it..." she moved her hand to set it on eleven's. "...with you."
there was a gasp for breath from the unconscious angel. makato practically felt her heart stop. her pendant was glowing now, as was eleven's. the room was silent as all eyes landed on the duo. what makato was doing was working.
finding her words, she quickly continued. "n-no one's perfect, eleven, but that's okay... it's okay not to be," makato continued, a small smile on her face. "no matter what happens, i will always be your friend, eleven." there was another gasp for breath. the dark aura seemed to weaken around her. the girl's grip tightened on her pendant as she scooted the chair closer. "you remember the world of light, don't you?" she asked, her smile growing wider. "without you fighting, who knows what terrible fate our worlds would've faced?" with every word, it seemed, the darkness continued to fade. "we fight for what's right, eleven... sure, sometimes we face scary things, but from those things the good can also come out... like light emerging from darkness."
eleven's face was starting to shift. no one missed it. makato's voice continued to echo through the room.
"this is what the raposa wanted, right?" she asked again, chuckling lightly to herself every once in a while. "no matter what, we can face the odds together... because we're best friends. and our friendship can face anything!" makato was grinning ear to ear, as were the others. "another princess i know told me about the magic of friendship, and how it can conquer any odds," she explained. "nothing can break our friendship, eleven! nothing!"
the duo's pendants were shining like stars as the darkness dissipated. eleven was starting to stir. there wasn't a dry eye in the room from anyone.
"and our other friends, they're here for us too," makato explained. "sonic said that, together, we can show the world what we can do! so let's show sonic that he's right! let's show the world our friendship, that our hearts can prove our strength!" makato was practically shouting at this point, and her energy could be felt by everyone in the room. eleven was so close, and makato knew it. she knew she was being heard.
"don't let malvada, darkato or any of the darkness define who or what we are," makato spoke in the boldest tone she could manage, eyes blazing with detemination.
"YOU ARE ELEVEN!"
. . .
with a bright flash, the pendants stopped glowing and the darkness fully faded. makato let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding, placing her head in her hands... before it was quickly stolen again by what she was greeted with when she looked back up at the bed.
eleven was staring back at her, clearly exhausted, tears in her eyes... but a grin stretched across her face. without any sort of warning, kirby threw himself on the bed and into her arms, laughing in triumph as the girl weakly hugged him back. makato, practically scrambling, joined the hug and wrapped her arms tightly around her best friend, tears still rolling down her face.
"we missed you..."

two of diamonds [fic]
[ ssbu oc oneshot; spoilers for world of light; feat. makato ( @princesspixel7 ) ]
summary: in the wake of the worlds’ reawakenings, during the celebration of their liberation, makato finds out the true extent of the damage done to her friend.
the first time makato had heard that eleven had completed her battle against the deities was in the dark world. she’d been looking for dillon for a while now with sonic and the others, and it was taking longer than she would’ve liked, practically driving her insane in the process.
when she got the news, she was definitely proud of eleven (though the mention of the girl being seriously injured made her a little concerned), but she was still too focused on what was happening at present to think about it too much.
as her journey went on, however, her concerns related to the angel slipped to the back of her mind, as she completed her own journey and defeated both deities, freeing the multiverse for good just as eleven had done before.
a few days had passed, and now makato and her friends--both elyssian and otherwise--were having a victory celebration within the smash headquarters to honor saving the multiverse. everyone was having a really good time, and makato felt on top of the world. she was a hero! everyone was free!
...but then why did something feel missing?
“job well done, angel,” a sultry voice rang through the room. “we owe you both one after all this.”
this, along with the clicking of heels, caught makato’s attention as she raised her gaze to meet that of a familiar, black-haired witch with a surprisingly serious look on her face.
“bayonetta?” makato said in a questioning tone, tilting her head to one side, fully turning to face her.
“i didn’t think you’d show up to the party... you’ve been kinda distant for a few days. what’s going on?”
for a moment bayonetta seemed to pause, a shroud of concern over her eyes as her gaze fell to one side, causing makato’s face to knit with concern.
“i hate to be a debbie downer on your little pow-wow,” bayonetta started, “and there’s no easy way to say this, but...”
“but?” makato urged, looking even more confused as dr. mario slowly walked up to bayonetta’s side.
then something odd clicked into place. makato realized what seemed to be missing from the victory celebration, a realization that caused her stomach to roll.
her face shifted into one of fear, a hollow look in her eyes as she once more leveled her gaze with bayonetta’s and dr. mario’s.
“where’s eleven?” she asked in a whisper, a chill running down her spine as bayonetta seemed to let out a heavy sigh she’d been holding in.
“well, the good news is that she’s alive,” the witch responded, causing makato to also let out a heavy sigh of relief.
“good, you made it sound like she was--”
“but,” bayo cut her off as dr. mario stepped forward. “this is the bad news, angel.”
“she’s-a... not in-a the best shape,” the doctor explained, taking his hat off. “she’s-a currently resting in one-a the hospital rooms. bayonetta has-a been keeping watch for a few days, but-a she hasn’t woken up yet...”
makato had been staring at the floor for this entire explanation, with clenched fists and eyes swelled with tears. no wonder she wasn’t here... she hadn’t just been injured, no; she’d nearly been taken out by the deities.
but she’d still won.
both of them had won. both of them were heroes.
makato looked back up at bayonetta with a steely gaze, letting her tears roll down her face as she gave one simple, shaky request.
“show me.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
makato ended up staying with her that night after seeing just how bad her friend’s condition was. it... wasn’t the best night of sleep she’d ever gotten, considering a nightmare of her kingdom’s demise and the condition her best friend was in. but it was better than nothing at all.
from what bayonetta had explained once they got to the hospital room, she nearly fell into the ocean just as makato did, but the battle had rendered her in a much worse condition. she looked a lot better now that a few days had gone by (and, when she was up for a few minutes the day before makato won, bayo had explained to her that makato was about to fight the deities), but the silence of the room, save for the beeping of the monitors, coupled with the thought of how she could look worse than she did now almost made the girl feel sick.
she was pacing the room now, trying to get her nightmare and these scary thoughts out of her head, when... she could’ve sworn she heard something. but a momentary glance at her friend on the bed gave her nothing. a few minutes passed... then a few more... then another passive glance at eleven--
makato felt herself practically stop dead at the sight of her friend staring back at her.
eleven, with her half-lidded sleepy gaze and a small smile, was awake. and there were tears in her eyes.
“hey,” she spoke in a warbled voice, her smile stretching into an unmistakable grin.
makato was at her side in an instant, gently hugging the other girl against her, a hug that eleven could happily (albeit weakly) return. they were like this for a few minutes, before makato briefly separated to pull up the chair close to eleven’s side of the bed and wipe her own tears from her eyes now.
“you...” makato started, her voice trailing off.
“i look like a mess,” eleven replied weakly, earning a tearful chuckle from both girls, “but we actually did it, didn’t we?”
“...yeah,” makato responded, now grinning as well. “we did.”
there was a brief pause before eleven found herself speaking up again.
“...i found out something, makato.”
“hm?”
“...y’know how i... never considered myself a light?”
“...yeah...?”
“well... when i went up against galeem... i realized something. i realized i was a light.”
“what made you realize that?”
it was a genuine question; the girl had always considered herself a darkness due to her past, and makato wanted to know what changed her view. there was another brief pause before eleven responded.
“...true lights don’t take over with their light,” she started, “they don’t use it for evil... they use it to brighten up the lives of others and to do the right thing...”
eleven leveled her gaze with makato’s, tears shining in her eyes once again.
“i learned that from a pretty cool friend of mine,” she joked, grinning as both girls giggled to themselves.
“but then, after i fought both of ‘em, i realized...”
her gaze fell to the side as tears rolled down eleven’s face.
“...i’m a hero. by every definition of the word, i’m truly a hero... i used my light--my light-- to save this world, and... so many other worlds...”
now it was makato’s turn to level her friend’s gaze, slightly turning her chin so that eleven could see the tears forming in makato’s eyes as well, see the grin stretching across her own friend’s face.
“we’re both truly heroes.”
