Out-ing Minority Students to Their Abusers - Safeguards needed in HB 382
I am writing to express my profound concerns regarding the proposed HB 382 legislation: Out-ing Minority Students to Their Abusers, which aims to involve parents in the education process but may inadvertently expose vulnerable LGBTQ+ students, and others, to harmful environments. As any survivor of domestic violence is acutely aware; ensuring the safety and well-being of all students is paramount, especially those from marginalized communities. While I acknowledge the intention behind HB 382, it is crucial to consider the potential for misuse of this legislation, which would further exacerbate the already high rates of harm and mortality among LGBTQ+ youth. Therefore, I call you to incorporate additional safeguards into the bill to protect the privacy and safety of these students, or alternatively, reject the bill entirely to rework it with the safety of ALL students prioritized. Specifically, measures must be implemented to ensure that information about a student's gender identity and romantic interests is not disclosed without their explicit consent to anyone. The goal of our education system should be to foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for all students, regardless of their personal demographics. By prioritizing the privacy and safety of vulnerable students, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and grow without fear of discrimination or harm. I urge you to consider these concerns and take action to protect the rights of students in Alaska. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Protect the privacy of all students! We’re so pro-life; we’ll martyr our queer! Safeguards needed in HB 382!

instagram (meta) has recently updated their service model to paid without ads and free with ads (this may be an EU thing).
They say if you pay they will not use your data to show you personalized ads. This does not mean that they won't collect, use and sell your data.
Also, it's almost 13 € which is insane (and maybe shows just how much money they make with ads)
Before this, you also used to have the option to be shown non-personalized ads, i assume this will not be possible anymore.

Can a sexologist share my details without my consent?
Tumblr media
In the age of digital information sharing, concerns about privacy have become increasingly paramount. Individuals seeking professional guidance from sexologists often find themselves grappling with questions related to the confidentiality of their personal information. In this comprehensive guide, we aim to address the query: Can a sexologist share your details without your consent?
Understanding the Foundations of Confidentiality in Sexology
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of ethical practice in the field of sexology, especially when seeking the services of the best sexologist in Prayagraj. When you engage with a sexologist, whether in person or through virtual platforms, you are entering into a professional relationship where the safeguarding of your personal information is of utmost importance. This commitment to confidentiality is grounded in ethical guidelines and legal obligations that sexologists adhere to diligently.
Legal Framework Governing Confidentiality in Sexology
To assuage concerns about privacy, it's crucial to understand the legal safeguards in place. Sexologists, like all healthcare professionals, are bound by stringent laws that protect the privacy and confidentiality of their clients. Laws such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the United States ensure that your personal information remains confidential unless explicit consent is provided for sharing.
The Role of Informed Consent
In the realm of sexology, informed consent is not just a procedural formality but a fundamental aspect of the therapeutic process. Sexologists are ethically obligated to obtain your explicit consent before sharing any details about your case. This consent process is comprehensive, ensuring that you are fully aware of the extent and nature of the information that may be shared and with whom.
Exceptional Circumstances: Balancing Confidentiality and Duty to Warn
While sexologists are committed to maintaining confidentiality, there are exceptional circumstances where they may be legally obligated to breach it. The concept of "duty to warn" arises when a sexologist believes there is a credible threat of harm to you or others. In such cases, the sexologist may be compelled to disclose information to protect the safety of individuals involved.
Protecting Your Privacy in Virtual Consultations
With the advent of telehealth and online consultations, ensuring the security of your personal information during virtual sessions is crucial. Reputable sexologists employ advanced encryption methods and secure platforms to uphold the confidentiality of your data. It is advisable to choose licensed professionals who prioritize the privacy of their clients in the digital landscape.
Red Flags: Recognizing Unethical Practices
To further safeguard your privacy, it's essential to be vigilant for red flags that may indicate unethical practices. Legitimate sexologists will always prioritize your well-being and privacy, and any deviation from this commitment should be treated with caution. Be wary of professionals who do not clearly communicate their confidentiality policies or those who seem reluctant to obtain your informed consent.
Conclusion: Navigating the Landscape of Confidentiality
In conclusion, seeking guidance from a sexologist should not compromise your privacy. Understanding the legal framework, the role of informed consent, and the exceptions to confidentiality empowers you to make informed choices about your personal information. By choosing reputable professionals and remaining vigilant for potential red flags, you can ensure a secure and confidential therapeutic experience.

Digital Privacy?
This past week, I've been learning a lot in my classes about online privacy, net neutrality, and other concerns and civil rights around our digital data. One of my biggest takeaways was the sense we do take this digital landscape for granted, and can too often be too trusting with the media we decide to post on. I mean, I can't honestly tell any of you the last time I actually sat down and read through a privacy policy when downloading any new app. Even if you told me I could secretly gain $10,000 by reading the whole thing thoroughly, I would probably still miss out on the prize money. It just reminds me of the need to be more vigilant in protecting my online privacy. And no, I'm not saying I'm going to completely make all my accounts private and lose the opportunity of connection I've always been able to make online, especially here with many of you. I enjoy the friendships and conversations I've been able to have, I just want to make sure I'm treating my data with more care and protection as I grow older and more aware of this hidden factor of our online existence. Some food for thought.

Watch out for the Trolls Under the Internet
The concept of internet trolls has gotten out of hand over the past decade across all social media platforms. Psychologists are saying a huge reason as to why trolling as spiraled out of control is because there hasn't been enough regulations put in place. There is little to no monitoring to these attention seeking internet users.
"Trolls" are internet monsters who absolutely thrive off of instigating people online and creating issues for the sole purpose of their personal gain or just pure boredom. However, what was once annoying internet pranks to make people feel uncomfortable, now ranges to harassment on a whole other level. For example, now trolls partake in exposing personal information like a user's bank account number, this behavior is also known as doxxing.
The concern is that trolls are getting really dangerous, especially to those with weak mental health. They are ruining reputations and lives. Our guards need to be up and we need to collectively get better at protecting our privacy before we become the next victim of trolling.
