Hi! If it isn't much of a bother...could you share some Mettah HCs? <3
I'm so sorry it took me so long to answer this! The short answer is... I'm really bad at open ended questions ahah and the things I say don't always feel like they're ?? satisfying to someone who asked a question?? But I've put this off long enough, so I'm just gonna go off the top of my head:
Mettah's childhood nickname(s) from Hegemol were often food related, including but not limited to: Honeydrop (which his also his surname, so she was Honeydrop Honeydrop for a time), Nectar, Honeydew, and his favorite was a mix of these words to call her his little dollop of ____. Most of these names focused on her orange color.
Lurien, on the other hand, stuck for calling her his sunshine. Both because she was orange, and because she is the light of his life.
Mettah is just barely taller than Lurien, and she lauds that single inch over him like a throne.
Mettah is not a fighter, and doesn't take up true combat training from either of her fathers, but she does learn self defense.
Her weapon of choice is a crossbow, when she has to use it.
Mettah is well-versed in the arts by Lurien, and is a painter almost as skilled as he is. However, she eventually grows into her own style of outsider-esque art, and moves toward making art with a message or purpose.
Mettah puts her art skills to use to paint and graffiti pro-union propaganda for the menderbugs as the kingdom starts back up, and becomes a big advocate for worker's rights.
Lurien offers the side of the spire for her various murals, and he cannot be more proud.
Mettah loves the city just as much as her fathers do and did, and follow in their footsteps to take care of it in her own way.
Mettah is a disaster sapphic who is down bad for anyone who is niceys to her tbh and also anyone who is gruff and stoic. and also anyone inbetween.
Mettah loves her favorite (family friend) uncle, @grollow's Grimm, and definitely doesn't have the eyes for his daughter. Don't worry about it.
"Your head looks like a pastry!" Is the very first thing she ever said to Grimm once she could speak. She's been holding that in since she was a water-bound nymph.
Originally, Mettah was not going to be biologically Hegemol's. My Lurien is trans and has the facilities to carry an egg, and thus, Hegemol was worried for Lurien's health if he were to be the sire, just given their size difference. However, I settled on the fact that she would be both of theirs, as the two of them could seek out assistance from the White Lady in peering into Lurien's clutch in the early stages and culling all but the one that would be best for his health to carry. They did not specify any traits except for Lurien's and the egg's health. (Lurien wouldn't have been able to safely carry more than one egg at a time anyway so a cull would have happened no matter what)
I decided that she was Hegemol's after I drew all these images, so I think I'm going to give her two little horn nubs like her beetle father to match this :) But a mostly-damselfly egg would have also been the safest for Lurien to carry, hence why she looks so much more like him than Hegemol.
They don't know where she got her orange. Recessive gene magic babey. She is for sure theirs though.
Mettah loves arson. Like, a lot.

FIRST ON FOX: A pro-life pregnancy center in Ohio was attacked by the radical pro-choice group "Jane’s Revenge," which tagged the building with messages to "fund abortion" and "abort God."
HerChoice, a pro-life pregnancy center in Bowling Green, Ohio, was attacked by "Jane’s Revenge" and hit with anti-Christian and pro-choice graffiti.
HerChoice, also known as the Bowling Green Pregnancy Center (BGPC), provides free pregnancy and STI testing, ultrasounds, parenting classes, as well as supplies for infants and toddlers.
DOJ CHARGES TWO MORE PEOPLE FOR ATTACKS AGAINST FLORIDA PRO-LIFE PREGNANCY CENTER
The center, along with the other over 100 pregnancy centers across the Buckeye State, provide $15 million worth of services to families in need.
Ohio Right to Life CEO Peter Range told Fox News Digital the people "who work at the BGPC are some of the kindest, loving and caring individuals you could ever meet."
"Knowing these individuals personally, this attack on their center will only strengthen their resolve to continue to love those in need," Range said. "A huge thank you should be given to the local Knights of Columbus council and the college students who came out to help the cleanup process immediately upon seeing the vandalism."
"They represent the Bowling Green community at its finest. In the broader context, though, there has been well over 100 attacks against pro-life pregnancy centers and pro-life organizations since last year," he continued. "Everyone in this state and nation, no matter their political affiliation or stance on abortion, should support centers and organizations that help mothers."
Range said he prays "local officials, statewide elected members and national leaders will all rise to the moment and speak out against these attacks to put an end to these senseless attacks once and for all."
The graffiti on the pregnancy center read "liars," "fake clinic," "fund abortion" and "abort God."
Additionally, the group signed its name – the calling card left behind on the other attacks linked to "Jane’s Revenge."
Last month, the Justice Department charged two more people for carrying out a targeted attack on a pro-life pregnancy center in Winter Haven, Florida.
The DOJ announced that a federal grand jury returned an indictment against Gabriella Oropesa and Annarella Rivera for engaging in a conspiracy to prevent employees of reproductive health services facilities from providing those services, along with co-conspirators Caleb Freestone, 27, and Amber Smith-Stewart, 23, whom DOJ charged in January.
The crew allegedly targeted a pro-life pregnancy center and vandalized those facilities with spray-painted threats, including, "If abortions aren’t safe than [sic] neither are you," "YOUR TIME IS UP!!," "WE’RE COMING for U," and "We are everywhere," on the building.
Those messages are consistent with those that the far-left group, Jane’s Revenge, took credit for leaving spray-painted on pro-life centers after vandalizing dozens of them following the leaked Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case that eventually led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade last summer.
DOJ said similar facilities in Hollywood and Hialeah, Florida, were also allegedly targeted.

top 5 bridges
I haven't actually thought that hard about this before, so, in no particular order:
Tumblr media
first, we're gonna pretend I'm not essentially telling you guys where I live with this, but the Bibbs-Graves Bridge in Wetumpka, AL is high enough on my list that I got it tattooed on my human body. it's a four span concrete arch bridge, so accurately depicted in my tattoo (and such a prominent local landmark) that if I wear a tank top I am guaranteed to have strangers recognize it. The only significant difference between tattoo and reality is that in real life, those concrete walls in the substructure are covered in vulgar graffiti courtesy of the local youth.
Tumblr media
second, big shout out to the Hernando de Soto Bridge in Memphis, TN, a tied arch bridge that carries I-40 into Arkansas. Yes, this is that bridge that had the big crack in it recently. (The crack was in the "tied" part of the tied arch bridge, which is the metal piece that connects the ends of the arches together like a bowstring on a bow. That tie is the only part of an arch that is under tension instead of compression, and steel under tension is at risk of fatigue cracks.) It's not the bridge's fault :( and also yes, that is the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid in the background, I picked this angle on purpose because it's so incredibly funny to me that there is a massive black Bass Pro Shop branded pyramid in the middle of Memphis. Anyway, this bridge is quintessentially Memphis, and Memphis is one of my favorite cities.
Tumblr media
The Brooklyn Bridge! Wow, the quality of this image got fried when I stole it off Wikipedia. Whatever. We love masonry bridges in this house, and we love cable stay bridges too, as long as we aren't the ones inspecting them. It's just a cool bridge! Lots of history! Gwen Stacy may or may not have been thrown off of it. Let's all feel sorry for the dive crew that has to do the underwater inspections. Swimming? In the East River?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine (named for the two marble lion statues that flank its entrance, one shown above) is a very cool, historic old bridge connecting St. Augustine to Anastasia Island. I love a bridge with character, obviously, and this bridge was literally built (in 1927) to be a bridge with character. It's a tourist attraction in and of itself, which I can prove by showing you pictures of baby Weeks on my father's shoulders in front of one of these lions. (What's this, I snuck in another nostalgic pick? Say it isn't so!) Also it has a drawbridge, which is cool as hell.
Tumblr media
This one is less of a favorite than an infamous lesson. Once upon a time, the Silver Bridge connected Point Pleasant, West Virginia and Gallipolis, Ohio across the Ohio River. It was an eyebar-chain suspension bridge with no redundancy (i.e. there was only one set of eyebars forming each of the suspension chains), a design choice which ultimately came back to bite them in the ass when a manufacturing flaw in one of the eyebars caused the eyebar to fracture on December 15, 1967. (Due to some pretty cool forensic engineering, we actually know exactly which eyebar it was.) The resulting collapse of the bridge caused the deaths of 46 people. Safety programs are always, tragically, built on the loss of human lives, and this story is no different; the legacy of these 46 people's deaths is the development of the National Bridge Inventory and the National Bridge Inspection Standards, which is the Federal Highway program that still today manages bridge inspections throughout the United States.
The NBI is by no means perfect, and it continues to evolve over time (usually in the wake of other tragedies which draw our attention to places where our current measures are insufficient), but I am certain that a number of other tragedies has been avoided through the collective efforts of the engineers and inspectors involved in running the program. That's why any discussion of bridges, for me, is incomplete without at least a mention of this bridge.
Oh, also, supposedly the Silver Bridge collapse was heralded by Mothman.

Here’s another story for the urban explorer au (which should probably get a tag or something), based on several of my biggest fears because it’s spooky month and I want to write something unsettling. At least unsettling for me.
Warning: exploring an abandoned mine entrance, injury, attempted vampire hunting, please do not explore abandoned mines they are very dangerous places
On with the fic!
--
“I don’t like this, Peter. I thought that your whole... ghost hunting show thing was done in buildings and such, not places like this.” Lucian spoke as he stood near the entrance to the abandoned mine, one of many in this state.
Peter was adjusting the go-pro he had put on his head, this way his hands were free instead of holding his camera all the time. Just in case he needed to fight, Lucian had said that vampires did hide in caves and such if they had to, hard for sunlight to get in, which gave Peter the idea to do a special for his channel. He looked over at Lucian and shrugged. “Hm, sometimes urban exploring involves things like this. And it’s not just ghost hunting, it’s also vampire hunting!”
“I don’t know if there are any vampires here.” Lucian sniffed. “I can’t really smell anything.”
“Maybe it’s deeper inside.” Peter turned on his clip-on light and activated the camera once Lucian was out of shot, he never did like to be on film for safety reasons. “Ready?”
“I feel like I have no choice, but if anything bad happens, we’re getting out of there.”
“Yeah, yeah, safety first.” The actor rolled his eyes and then went into his usual intro, apologizing for the lack of footage of his beautiful face. He wanted his hands free in case he had to fight or anything like that.
He then discussed where he was, that he was at the entrance to an old gold mine that was left abandoned after the gold quickly dried up during the gold rush. There was also rumors of a deaths having happened, but those are normal for mines.
“Still, it could be haunted! And my associate, L,” since Lucian refused to let his name actually be said on camera, “told me that vampires lived in caves if they didn’t have much choice. And with this being sunny fuckin’ Nevada, seems about right for the safest place from the sun to be a spooky cavern. Let’s go and explore, my fellow hunters!”
He approached the entrance, where long-rusted chains laid on the ground, having broken after years of exposure. He went inside first and looked around with the light.
There was some graffiti on the walls, some empty bottles and trash, typical, just like the abandoned buildings. There was also what looked to be an old sleeping bag that seemed to have a rather unsettling smell, if Lucian’s disgusted curse in Romanian was anything to go by.
Peter stepped away from it and walked a little deeper, finding old, slightly rusted tracks for mining carts. “Think we’ll find a cart?” He asked.
“I don’t know, it’s possible.”
“I wonder if there is, I kinda wanna ride in it. Ya know, like somethin’ from a cartoon or whatever. And Indiana Jones! Didn’t they have to escape a bad guy in a mining cart!”
“I don’t know what that is.”
“Jesus fuck, babe, you need to watch some movies once in a while.”
“Any time you try to get me to watch something, you distract me with your hand on my-”
“ANYWAY!” Peter announced loudly, his voice echoing into the darkness. Somewhere further in was a small rattling sound, just faintly echoing off the walls.
Lucian stopped Peter, gently shushing him from behind. They stood quietly for a moment, listening, though Peter could really hear much except the sounds of water, dripping from somewhere within the darkness. He hated that his light only shown so much, he should invest in one of those really strong ones that get some fucking distance on them.
“Something is up ahead.” Lucian whispered close to Peter’s ear, making the man shudder.
“Right, uh, let’s investigate then, yeah?”
“Are you sure?”
“Come on, it’s, uh, it’s probably just the wind or somethin’. Maybe a cave animal bumped into a chain or whatever.” Peter didn’t want to admit that he was getting a little nervous. He had gone to a cave only once before, as a little kid on some big family trip, a few years before his parents were killed.
They went to mainland Europe with his aunt and uncle and their annoying kids, and one of the places they went to was a big cave that was a popular tourist spot. Peter remembered it clearly because he only liked two things about it, the bats on the ceiling and making jokes with his dad about the shape of the stalagmites and stuff.
He hated the rest of the trip because his cousins took him to a dark area, away from the tourist group, and tried to push him into a marked-off hole in the ground. His aunt and uncle were mad at him for making a scene with his crying and screaming to not be pushed into a bottomless hole.
He was sure there was nothing like that up ahead, they were made-made tunnels and stuff, he doubted he would fall into a black abyss, or that there was something living in the tunnel. Not like his cousins telling him that a demon lived in the cave because it was an entrance to Hell and he ate weird kids.
“Let’s keep going.” Peter said as he walked on ahead. He saw another light come on, glad Lucian remembered to actually bring the spare torch instead of relying on his lycan eyes.
They walked on, along the tracks, with Peter narrating things as they went. His talking sort of died down a bit the further they crept along, passing a split in the tracks that let to two tunnels.
It took Peter a few minutes to finally notice that he didn’t hear Lucian’s footsteps anymore.
“Babe?” He turned, hating how his voice sounded too small. There was no one behind him, and the way he came looked so dark, even with his light. “W-where’d you go?”
He heard something behind him, spinning back around. “The fuck was that?” He hissed, only the shout when he felt something icy cold touch the back of his neck.
On instinct, Peter ran.
He didn’t get too far, his foot caught on a something on the track and he slammed into the ground, hearing a crack, a pop, and he was plunged into an inky darkness. There was a hot pain in Peter’s knee and his shin where it had stuck the metal of the track and the ground. He could tell he was bleeding, fuck, fuck, fuck.
Sitting up, he found that his light was broken, touching at it revealed the light had a rock shoved into it, making it completely useless.
He was in a dark, abandoned cave, and he didn’t know where he boyfriend was.
And he felt like he wasn’t alone.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” He winced. “Babe! Where are you!? Help!” He called out, God, he hated this, he was so stupid, why did he think this was a good idea!?
What if there was a dangerous animal in here, what if there was a fucking vampire!? What had touched his neck!?
Suddenly, there was something glowing in the distance, and Peter was both nervous and relieved. Was it Lucian? Or was it something else.
“Peter?” Came a voice, echoing off the walls.
Oh thank someone, it was his wolfy man!
“Over here!” Peter called out, waving his hands. “Might need a bit of help, I took a nasty fall and broke my stupid light!”
“Hold on, stay right there!”
“Kinda can’t do much, busted my knee a bit, hurts to move it.” Peter winced, trying to bend his knee, nope, yeah, it hurt, probably bruised it something bad. At least it didn’t feel broken.
He heard loud, hurried footsteps and saw Lucian approach with his light. “Oh, you are a fuckin’ angel, you beautiful, wolfy man.”
“Oh, I am far from an angel, but I’m glad you’re safe. What happened, I thought you were behind me.”
“I thought you were behind me! Did we split at the fork in the tracks?”
“I believe so.” Lucian replied before helping Peter to his feet. “What happened to cause you to fall?”
Peter frowned. “Felt something touch my neck, it was probably just water or somethin’, but it scared the shit outta me and I sorta just... ran on instinct.”
“Good thing you fell when you did, or else you might have accidentally fell into that.” Lucian pointed the flashlight in the direction ahead of them. Ten feet away from where they stood, Peter could see what looked to be a rather large hole in the ground, clearly it had collapsed at some point, having taken some of the track with it.
He hobbled over to take a look with Lucian close behind, pointing the light down.
They couldn’t see the bottom.
“Ready to leave?”
“Yeah, fuck this place, let’s stick to buildings.”
--
I have a love-hate thing for caves and caverns. While I find them fascinating on a scientific and history level, the fact that we have never fully explored any of them due to dangers and such, we have no idea how large they really are, and the fact that you can so easily get lost and die in them horrifies me. Also, the dark, the darkness in a place like these nearly gave me a panic attack when I went to a popular cavern here in my home state and the fucking guide shut off the lights in this one area we were in and I wanted to cry (I’m deathly afraid of the dark).
Also, a demon in a cave because it’s the entrance to hell is based on a real one I went to a few times as a kid. It was actually the devil that lived in there. Though no, no kids tried to push me into a hole, but I did almost fall into one of the little water pools by accident.
Oh, I’m leaving it up to you what cold thing touched Peter’s neck and what made the noise deeper in the tunnels. :D
So, I hope you enjoyed this! Gave me a lot of uncomfortable feelings, haha.

I think we need to start mauling people
Tumblr media
[ID: A Screenshot of a post by a-little-counter-esperanto that reads:
" 'SCOTUS mandated vasectomies would be eugenics!’
'Graffiti on Catholic churches and yelling at Catholics is the beginning of genocide’".
This is followed by a gif of a person saying, "I mean, are there no bounds to your stupidity?"
The post is tagged, "Roe v Waderoe vs. wade, supreme court, us politics, women's rights, feminism, reproductive rights, reproductive justice, women's health, jumblr, pro-choice, antisemitism".
End ID.]
Why the fuck are people pretending that government-forced sterility wouldn't be used to fucking target marginalized groups??? Who the fuck do you think would be the first people to be forcibly sterilized, person???? People of color! Disabled people!
Use your gods damned fucking brain!
How is it possible to be this willfully stupid? If they're fucking complaining about posts talking about forced sterilization leading to eugenics, then it's fucking guarenteed that those posts they're complaining about spelled this shit out in plain fucking english. But no they're just gonna fucking compare a real form of eugenics and genocide that has fucking historically happend and continues to happen today, to fucking Catholics' victim complexes.
Holy shit.

The pro-abortion radical group dubbed "Jane’s Revenge" that’s claimed responsibility for various arson attacks and vandalism since the leak of a draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade published a new letter Tuesday declaring "open season" on pro-life pregnancy crisis centers.
The letter spoke of a supposed 30-day deadline for all pro-life groups to cease operations and condemned those "who impersonate healthcare providers in order to harm the vulnerable."
"We were unsurprised to see thirty days come and thirty days pass with no sign of consilience or even bare-minimum self-reflection from you," the letter dated June 14 reads. "History may not repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes, and we’ve already seen such stanzas where medical autonomy is stripped away, humanity is increasingly criminalized, and merely surviving becomes largely untenable."
It then warns to pro-life groups "your thirty days expired yesterday."
ARMED SUSPECT ARRESTED BY JUSTICE KAVANAUGH'S HOME IDENTIFIED
"We offered an honourable way out," it says. "You could have walked away. Now the leash is off. And we will make it as hard as possible for your campaign of oppression to continue."
The letter described how "easy and fun it is to attack" and vowed to take "increasingly drastic measures against oppressive infrastructures" following the expiration of the supposed deadline, saying this time "those measures may not come in the form of something so easily cleaned up as fire and graffiti."
"From here forward, any anti-choice group who closes their doors, and stops operating will no longer be a target. But until you do, it’s open season, and we know where your operations are," the letter, disseminated to email subscribers and in the form of an "Abolition Media" blog post, reads.
The group appeals to anyone "with the urge to paint, to burn, to cut, to jam" to commit violence.
"The infrastructure of the enslavers will not survive. We will never stop, back down, slow down, or retreat. We did not want this; but it is upon us, and so we must deal with it proportionally. We exist in confluence and solidarity with all others in the struggle for complete liberation," it says. "Our recourse now is to defend ourselves and to build robust, caring communities of mutual aid, so that we may heal ourselves without the need of the medical industry or any other intermediary. Through attacking, we find joy, courage, and strip the veneer of impenetrability held by these violent institutions."
According to the letter, Jane’s Revenge is "not one group but many," and has disseminated "communiqués from the various cells" in locations mostly based in the Pacific Northwest.
The letter claimed responsibility for various attacks already seen in the cities of Portland, Eugene and Gresham in Oregon, as well as in Olympia, Lynwood and Vancouver in Washington state. In Maryland, the group claims to have carried out actions in Reisterstown and Frederick.
Other locations named are Madison, Wisconsin; Ft. Collins, Colorado; Des Moines, Iowa; Asheville, North Carolina; Buffalo, New York; Hollywood, Florida; Denton, Texas; and Washington, D.C.
The Washington Examiner has documented incidents of arson or vandalism or both targeting at least 13 anti-abortion centers across the country since the leak of a draft opinion in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. In several of the attacks, mostly lodged at Christian faith-based pregnancy crisis centers, the building are tagged with renditions of the messages "Jane’s Revenge" or "If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you."
According to the newspaper, few of the incidents have resulted in any arrests.
The Des Moines Register reported that vandals accused of breaking windows at the Christian Agape Pregnancy Center in Des Moines, Iowa, tagged the message "God loves abortions," and afterward a message online signed Jane’s Revenge claimed responsibility and encouraged attacks on churches.
In a letter sent June 7, Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kansas, supported by 15 other GOP senators, appealed to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland for information about how the Department of Justice is addressing "this disturbing trend of harassment, intimidation, and violence against religious and other pro-life organizations and individuals in the aftermath" of the leaked draft opinion.
"We are dismayed that the open and public urgency with which the Department of Justice undertook efforts in the name of public safety last year is not being replicated currently to protect religious and other pro-life organizations and individuals," the letter says, claiming the DOJ "wasted no time" in publics responding to threats of violence against educations and school administrators related to COVID-19 back-to-school policies.
In its most recent terrorism bulletin also issued on June 7, Department of Homeland Security warned of a "heightened threat environment" in the coming months, noting "individuals who advocate both for and against abortion have, on public forums, encouraged violence, including against government, religious, and reproductive healthcare personnel and facilities, as well as those with opposing ideologies.
Last week, a California man was arrested after showing up outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh with a gun, ammunition, a tactical knife, zip ties and various burglary tools. The affidavit says the suspect dialed 911 and admitted to intending to assassinate the conservative justice to "give his life purpose" following to the leak of the draft decision on abortion rights.
