I just want to reflect how much the Loki show ruined Loki as a character for me and how much disheartened I was with it.
I had always wanted a spinoff on him, which explored him more. And the Loki show did anything but that.
Do you guys remember how Loki was in Infinity War for like 5 minutes, yet Tom Hiddleston was at almost every media interaction the cast had? The same thing happened in the show as well. They used him to market the show, then sidelined him in his own show. I think that was unacceptable, because they used Loki as a bait to promote a character that I held no emotions for.
Sylvie.
The argument that one does not like Sylvie because they “hate a strong female character/a character with complex arcs” is so pathetic. I don’t think I would’ve liked Sylvie even if she had the most elaborate arc in the MCU (which she doesn’t) because it just wasn’t meant to be about her.
I wanted to see Loki’s story, his journey, and if you take this moment to interject with the statement that “she’s Loki too, just different”, then I say that I wanted to see our Loki, the one who was broken when he found out that he was the monster parents told their children about at night, the one who had plethora of iconic dialogues while fighting the avengers, who was killed only for us to realize that he wasn’t.
Everytime I said that we needed a Loki spinoff before it was announced was not because I wanted new characters, it was because I wanted to see more of the character that was already there, very much beloved by the fans. I wanted them to explore his character in a deeper sense and maybe dip a little into mythology as well.
I think Loki was one of those characters that neither needed a love interest nor was ready for one. I don’t ship him with either Sylvie or Mobius, because it feels like neither of them genuinely like Loki for who he is.
Loki had far more compelling things they could have explored like his jotun heritage, his trauma from the time with Thanos and his magic that is the only memory he has of Frigga instead of his love life.
The whole show felt like it was written by someone who wasn’t the least bit interested in Loki and barely looked into him before creating his female counterpart.
It feels like a disrespect for the fans who were connected to Loki on an emotional level.
Why am I saying this now, after like 2 years since the show came out?
I don’t know, after hearing the news about season 2 releasing in October, I just feel so upset. Tired. I hate this show much because it made Loki so irrelevant to me. A sidepiece in his own show. He went around in ugly costumes and all the regal vibes I had from him just disappeared.
I still remember a time when Loki was on the top of my favorite characters, and I loved him so much. I still do, but I’m not sure if I’ll watch the 2nd season and my 13 y/o self would hate me for this.
I’ve gotten detached from his character and I hate myself for it because Loki was someone whom I adored more than anything else in the fandom world.
Loki is that one character who is loved by the fanon but absolutely despised by the canon.

Okay you know what? I don’t want this to get lost in tags. Basically, Thor is allowed to have feelings and be messy and imperfect all on his own without it having much if anything to do directly with Loki. Or even indirectly. A huge amount of Thor’s character arc has to do with his relationship to Odin, and his relationship with who he himself is outside of being who he was brought up to believe he was meant to be.
Tumblr media
Like he should not have been 1500 years old the first time his mother tells him he can be himself. And see, the trade off of this is that Thor has almost no self-worth nor self-actualization outside of who he thought he was supposed to be. And when the person he was supposed to be fucks up so badly (in his mind), that half the universe disappears…
Tumblr media
Well, who is he after that? What purpose does he have? He can’t be the king he was expected to be, because that person doesn’t actually exist.
Tumblr media
And because he can’t be that version of himself because of his trauma and grief and guilt, he doesn’t know who he is at all. And so the traumatized, grieving version of himself, the one that can’t get off the couch and has completely, as Chris Hemsworth said, “checked out” isn’t the king he was expected to be, so why bother even trying? He needed some time to not have to try. Valkyrie gets it, she was right in the same place, so she picks up the slack for him, which makes it that much easier to check out more and more. By the time Rocket and Bruce show up, he’s basically decided that this new version of himself is happy, while he’s right on the verge of a breakdown pretty much at all times.
Tumblr media
He’s been taught his whole life not to show his people his feelings. His dad’s advice to him about having feelings was basically, go drink, and put on a goddamn happy face because a future king needs to keep his weird gross sadness to himself.
Tumblr media
So Thor does exactly that: his feelings are too overwhelming to translate into productive anger (how he usually copes), so it turns inward. And that’s not good because he’s been told not to show his feelings so many times. It’s ingrained. So he drinks and he pretends to be happy, but it doesn’t mean he’s got any sort of sense of identity.
Tumblr media
He leaves with the Guardians to try a different version of himself, to middling success in terms of helping him form his own identity, one that had started to heal from all the horrible things that have happened in a time period that, to him, is like a long weekend.
Tumblr media
It’s a journey he’s still on, and ultimately it only peripherally has much to do with Loki.

It's pretty crazy that the anti Lokius tag is actually just as full of anti Sylki ! Like... I will never understand why the Sylki relationship is so hated. Not loving is one thing. But hated with justification for bullshit that is not in the series seems legion... (I want to say that most Sylki do not hate the Lokius relationship, most love it, but simply for what it is, namely a friendship relationship, the first true friendship that Loki shares)

Loki and Wanda are two different people who reacts to things differently.
Loki is someone who doesn’t try to make excuses for the things he did and he also doesn’t try to play the part of the hero when he does something wrong he’s a villain and he knows it then he decided he wants to be a better person and took the necessary steps to get there! Also Loki in thor and avengers is very emotionally compromise and in the avengers I’m pretty sure he was tortured and mind controlled in the avengers but he still takes responsibility for what he’s done.
Wanda on the other hand has a massive victim complex and when she does bad things she doesn’t take any responsibility for it and acts shocked when people call her a villain and somehow she gets it in her head that it’s bc she’s a woman??? Like no it’s bc what you did was really bad and you didn’t even take any accountability. Also she had time to manage her grief before the events of AOU time Loki didn’t have!! So that’s mostly why people can like Loki and hate Wanda!?!!?

*****DOCTOR STRANGE SPOILERS AHEAD****
CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT HOW ANTI PAGAN THIS FUCKING MOVIE WAS?!
While I liked the fact that it did have LGBTQIA representation (for a single freaking second in the entire movie), everything else was awful, insulting, and yes I'm going to say it, DISCRIMINATORY TOWARDS WITCHES, WICCANS AND THE ENTIRE PAGAN COMMUNITY.
This film was absolutely disgusting. I am a real witch, an actual pagan witch who worships the old gods and uses Magick on a daily basis. And the way that marvel is giving into the hatred of my people is absolutely unforgivable.
First of all and most of all, referring to the word "witch" as another synonym for monster. SERIOUSLY?! This is not the sixteenth or seventeenth century, not Salem. That term should be banned by now as discrimination. Let me tell you something. I'm not a monster, and my religion is not an insult.
Or let's talk about the fact that they portrayed those who practiced witchcraft as being haunted and tormented by demons. THE FUCK. That's exactly something I would expect from some hot headed Catholic priest egging his congregation on, not MARVEL.
Or the fact that Wanda became a MURDERER because she practiced spells. That she was somehow tainted and lost her way.
Or the fact that Billy and Tommy screamed "it's a WITCH!" When she crossed into another universe.
Or the fact that "witchcraft" according to them is worse than Dr. Strange, who practiced Eastern witchcraft. All of it is Magick, Dr. Strange just got it from Sanskrit and Wanda got it from Nordic runes. ITS THE SAME. I practice dream walking or the actual term for it ASTRAL PROJECTION on a daily basis. I studied in both forms, and Magick methods around the world to become a healer. Tarot cards contain both "Dr Strange type" and "Wanda type" Magick.
Or the fact that they gave into the trope that witches kill children. They might as well have painted Wanda green and have her say "I'll get you my pretty!"
Or the fact that both Wanda and Loki have suffered tremendously for seemingly no particular reason, but they both have one thing in common...they're both witches. Loki is a witch as well, because he too specializes in Magick. Males can be termed as Witches and I have a number of good friends who are male witches. It makes me think that Marvel is giving a message that we deserve that kind of hell.
And furthermore, I would like to also point out that this will only put fuel on the fire for those who already hate us. I'll face discrimination because of this movie. I wear my pentacle everywhere. Coming out of it last night I was getting murderous looks and people were glaring and whispering among themselves, keeping their children away from me. I know I'm also going to face it at work now because everybody knows I'm a witch. Marvel, what have you done.
In conclusion, I think marvel is not only never going to give long term LGBTQIA screen time but they also based on their treatment of my kind they are anti pagan and might as well be puritans at Salem.
I AM NOT EVIL
I DON'T HURT CHILDREN
I DON'T HURT LIVING THINGS
I AM NOT A MONSTER
FUCK YOU MARVEL....FUCK YOU.

Hey, so I jsut see your post on what TERF is and I was hesitating to ask you the same but there is this site, urban dictionary, who is really reliable and since I have a ask a thought that some people would like to know.
So for the ask, why people are comparing Loki to Wanda ? Because I don't follow the MCU but now I'm curious.
Honestly… I don’t know.
Wanda and Loki both did very bad things, but there are a boatload of differences and they should not be compared.
As an example, let’s see their reasons for doing bad things:
Loki: Felt like a disappointment to his “father” and found out he was adopted was kidnapped as a baby (check this out for more info), realised his entire life was a lie, and was told that Frost Giants were evil, horrible creatures but then found out that he’s one of them (ouch).
Wanda: Her robot boyfriend die. That’s it.
That’s literally her only excuse. I still cannot believe her stans think that justifies her literally enslaving and terrorising an entire goddamn town.
Loki has his flaws and is by no means a Saint, but, unlike Wanda, he at least never makes excuses for his actions—despite his reasons being wayyyy more understandable than “uwu my microwave died”—and never plays the victim.
Anyway, I hope this helped answer your question. If you have any more Marvel (or of course HP) related questions, feel free to ask. Have a nice day!
