Tumgik
#probably the most common thing i can relate to with Dabi
Note
Please give us some information about an AU of your choice (doesn't have to be related to the story at all, can simply be a headcanon, whatever you want)
Hmm, in Insect and Pyre, there would be periods of time where Dabi and Tomura split up for a few decades at a time. This would be most common during wartime, where Tomura would be trying to maintain so much of his domain, both the people dying all over and trying to repair the natural environment, and Dabi would be being lured in by the calls for vengeance that would be going up from all of the people suffering. When things eventually calm down they are Insufferable, but thankfully no one else ever does have to suffer them.
I also think that Toga probably accidentally started a cult dedicated to the two of them that persists for years after she dies. She didn't think she was starting a cult when she talked about the two cool gods who are totally devoted to one another and who saved her from being put to death for being born with hemocraft as her magic, but she absolutely does

hehe as you wish @lilybitten 😌 you unleashed the shiganatsu beast. the beast lives inside of me and it survives off of monster energy and 2 hours off sleep (it’s just shigaraki in a wig?) here is my (vv long) elaboration on why shiganatsu is tHE superior ship (in regards to the fanfic potential especially because i am a writer):
imagine this: both shiggy and natsuo meet online over gaming. shiggy already loves gaming and i can imagine natsuo getting into gaming as a thing to help him relax and come down after a stressful day (with medical school and the family drama he really needs sth of that form). so they meet online over gaming and they become gaming buddies rather quickly without knowing who the other person is.
of course it’s common to have friends you meet online and you refer to by their gamertag only but they also both have reasons as to why they are hiding their real identity from each other. shigaraki, obviously, being a criminal and the most wanted man in all of japan, doesn’t want to give the police a chance to track him down or scare his new friend away. and natsuo a) doesn’t want to be associated with his trash ass father (understandably) and b) doesn’t want people to see him as the ‘son of the number one hero’ but instead see him for him and get to know him for him. so they both have valid reasons to try to keep who they are from each other! which is the perfect basis for some drama.
they don’t know who they are so they can become friends without their names/identity and the association with those being in the way. they probably share some similar views on hero society (shiggy hating it and natsuo probably having some mixed feelings considering what went on inside his house and how none of the other heroes ever noticed anything and possibly turning a blind eye which i could imagine makes him feel a little less friendly and more sceptical towards pro-heroes), shiggy dislikes endeavor and natsuo obviously agrees and natsuo wants to go into medicine so he probably cares about people, especially those who are in need of help and support which shiggy obviously likes. those are all things they could easily bond over. <33
now, they are friends and enjoy talking to each other. and over time they start developing feelings for each other because the other person likes them for them and don’t have any of the expectations others in their life have for them and that’s just so sweet. they both are a kind of escape to each other from their daily life and responsibilities. also they probably share a few personal details about their past that they don’t feel like they could tell anyone else because at the end of the day they don’t really know each other in person and it’s easier being deep and personal with a person who is only an avatar and a voice. less pressure.
they fall in love yay and tHEN THEY FIND OUT WHO THEY ARE. it’s probably through an accident. natsuo accidentally drops his brothers name (shouto, who shiggy obviously knows) and/or toga/dabi walk into shiggy’s room and don’t notice he is on voice dropping some lov related info to him. it doesn’t really matter but they both find out who the other person is and it’s a hUGE DRAMA. because natsuo is like “that’s a villain??? i have been talking to a villain for months?? it’s fucking shigaraki too and i?? i have a crush on the most wanted man in japan?!?!?” and shiggy is like “i am attracted to endEAVOR’S SON WTF” both valid reactions. 😌😌
see this has them both in a pickle. because if they’d known from the very beginning who they are they would have never started talking, much less become friends and develop feelings, but now that they actually care about each other it’s much more difficult to just cut each other out. natsuo especially struggles because shigaraki IS a criminal (and a murderer oops) and getting involved with him would also be kind of illegal 🙄. but shigaraki isn’t just shigaraki anymore. he is his gamer buddy, they shared imitate details about their life, they talked to each other almost every day for weeks and they always were there for each other when one of them wanted to vent about their day or needed comfort. there are emotions involved and shigaraki also isn’t as evil as the news makes him out. he has some valid points and critique and he mostly sounds frustrated with how things are now and wants them to change. his execution is lacking for sure but natsuo ends up giving him a chance. (maybe they do need a push, maybe the league needs a medic asap and natsuo is the only one shiggy can think of and natsuo can’t find it in himself to refuse someone in need help).
now this is where shit gets actually good because natsuo gets officially involved with the league and who is part of the league? dABI!! and eventually dabi will find out they are dating :)))) like obviously the two of them try to keep it a secret because shiggy IS a villain and natsuo IS the son of the number one but it will come out and dabi wILL be pissed. because HIS LITTLE BROTHER is dating hIS BOSS who is also the lEADER of the lov!! (we assume in this scenario dabi actually cares about the brother he went to cry to every night when he was a child and ignore canon 😐😐) . then natsuo will find out touya is still alive!!! (todoroki drama <3) but the most amazing part about this all?? shigaraki will find out that dabi is also a todoroki! so his boyfriend turned out to be a todoroki and the guy in his little villain club is aLSO a todoroki???
(at some point he probably sits the league down all distressed and is like “does anyone here wants to tell me sth??? if any of you are also related to endeavour tELL ME RIGHT NOW!!” he is going through it for a little bit here lmao)
i also like the idea of natsuo and dabi bonding over being family disappointments to their father. since one of them is a villain and the other one is dating a villain (also if you like rumi/fuyumi it would be even funnier because on the other side we’d have shouto who is a pro-hero to be, and fuyumi who would be dating a pro!! a kid of each kind sknrfksjne) and i just think they’d be giggling and kicking their feet over how endeavour would react to that lmaoo
and that is why i am a sucker for shigaraki x natsuo and i think they’re kind of cute. i rest my case :)))

Getting banned from a My Hero Server because people were openly defending Endeavour, and victim blaming Toya. It’s extremely fucked up. Saying you want him dead, and he deserves to die, but not Enji because he’s “changing,” and then admitting to being an abuse apologist? Because you like Endeavour?
I hate the argument “it’s just fiction,” because no, it’s not. Abuse isn’t fiction, and how you respond to it, whether fictional or not, is extremely telling of how you react to abuse in general.
“Being a victim doesn’t give you the right to kill your abuser,” not in the real world, no. (It should, but that’s for a different conversation.) For those of us who relate to Toya, it’s comforting to live vicariously through him. He can get justice for himself. He deserves to get justice for himself.
Saying “murder is worse than abuse,” is the most awful thing I’ve ever heard. Honestly.
That’s definitely coming from someone whose never been abused. However, I’m not defending him. Do I think he should be held responsibility for his crimes? Absolutely. But I don’t want to see him rot in prison for life, when he deserves redemption. I think he really relates to Azula, and they have a lot in common, so I love that. They were both trained to be child weapons, and the stress of being the perfect, golden child broke them down. But not even Azula was locked up forever; but it shows how much mental illness can effect you, and your choices. He’s a beautifully written character, and I want to see him get redemption. I understand he needs to pay for his crimes, but he can do that in psychiatric care, while getting help. I don’t think it’s fair that he should be held accountable for his actions, when Endeavour hasn’t been. His crimes are swept under the rug, and his fans, both in the manga and the real world, defend him.
I say this quote on Tumblr a long time ago, and I kept it because it made me really think of Dabi and Shigaraki, so I’m going to post it here: “I too once believed in the ruling power, but when I put my faith in it to protect me, I was betrayed. The people who did this faced no consequences, no trial, and as we speak continue to do harm to others. Your justice is pretty in theory, hero, but it is naive— the real world is messy and cruel, and unfair; and I plan to rectify it.
Too long I have tried other ways to make this system work— it is time to make a change.”
Tumblr media
That’s literally what the villains are doing. They’ve been failed by their system, and continue to do so. If the vigilantes feel the need to take justice into their own hands, why can’t the villains?
“Why didn’t Toya just come forward? Get a new family? Run away?”
It’s not that simple. And why should he?? Why wouldn’t he hold his abuser accountable??? Why does he have to leave his family behind? He did find a new family though. People who cared about him, who SAW him.
If you can openly love Endeavour, because you think a 46 year old man deserves redemption because “abuse isn’t as bad as murder,” then you’re part of a much larger problem.
The League wants to “make a better, shining world” as stated by Dabi. In HIS eyes, he’s making the world a better place. You know the saying, right? “You’ll never truly understand a villain, until you understand why they’re the hero in their own mind.” And who says they’re wrong? Isn’t the author showing us that the hero society IS flawed? There is no Right or Wrong side. Have you played My Hero Ones Justice 2? Have you heard Dabi’s dialogue? He mentions meeting Gran Trino in the hospital as a kid, probably because of the intense training by Endeavor. He only says, “God, or whosoever up there, is cruel.” Which means he’s HURTING still because of Endeavor. He’s also insecure, because of his dad saying he wants good enough. He constantly calls himself weak, and at one point, Twice tries to make him feel better by telling him to not put himself down. Endeavor isn’t better, because it’s taken him THIS long, while Touya is still developing; but it’s hard to grow as a person when all you’ve ever known is pain. Shoto said himself that he could’ve grown up to be just like Dabi, if Deku hadn’t given him the “power of friendship” speech. But Touya didn’t have anyone to give him that speech. No one saved him. No one pulled him back from the edge. Endeavor can’t just “forget” what he’s done, wtf. You can’t just forget someone’s abuse, because it’s easier for you. What about Touya’s closure? His justice? He only wants to kill Shoto because of his trauma. Do I condone it? No. But it’s not his fault, he needs help. He’s not beyond redemption. For once, someone needs to help these villains, because no one ever saved them. They need therapy, and to be rehabilitated; not killed or locked away, and forgotten. There’s no sentences in their world, once you’re in jail, you’re in jail. They dump you there and forget about you. The League deserves more than that. They deserves voices who speak out against the abuse, discrimination, and everything else they’ve had to endure. “Villains are just victims whose stories haven’t been told.”
Tumblr media
PS: It’s also hard to give a good argument when you have slow mode on.

for the Fanfic Writer Emoji Ask thing, uh..... can i ask for all of them? i really want to know your answers to like, all of them
hey hey anon my beloved do u know that u are now my favorite anon ???? thank u for this lmaoooo (for context - x) i'll put this under a cut cause it's a long one!
😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
u know i really am trying to get over my 'posting unusual kink fic is not cringe' vibes but it's a slow process so i will say that the two ovipos/egg-related fics i have out there rn are probably up there. not in a like 'this is embarrassing to enjoy' kind of way just truly in a 'i am not used to writing this kind of thing and i am still getting comfy with it' much in the same way i felt when i first started writing/posting smut lmao
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
honestly any kaeluc interaction in canon just makes me 🥺🥺 like whatever they are in canon (i don't particularly care lmao) it's just nice to see them interact and then turn around and see the bits of non-interaction relating to each other (ie hidden strife letters) and just getting the clear sense for how much they really care about each other
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
oh man i've done this maybe a handful of times? some recent faves include tdrk saying "I would like to reciprocate your flirting" and later "I believe this is called a kabedon". i did also post some chaeya who i think lend themselves well to a bit of comedy where they both get to just. laugh a little over the absurdity of kaeya fucking a slime, and reading that over again just made me laugh bc they're both a little silly abt the whole thing
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
uhhhhh i mean most of the time i write for myself bUT i will say there were a couple little one-liners in my chaeya fic that were not meant to be playfully mean any of my regular readers just the ones who might stumble upon an ostensibly chaeya fic and happen to think they're safe from kaelucs :) lmao
✍ Do you have a beta reader?
i do not!! every now and then if i'm really having a hard time divorcing myself from a fic enough to edit it, i might tap on someone to see if they have time to just check that the concept like. makes sense. but no, i don't have a beta and a solid 95% of my fics are entirely unbeta'd, we die like (insert fandom death person here lmao)
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
fire. there's always fire imagery somewhere, partly a product of obsessing over characters with fire in their premise (dabi, diluc, tdrk, bkg) and partly just cause it lends itself well to eliciting emotions i think?
🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
ohhhh boy that's a hard question lmao i guess it depends on your definition of a wild ride right? the one with the broadest spectrum of emotions is probably the days are so short, and you are so lovely (x) just cause like. u will cry i cry every time i read it lmao
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
i think i do a pretty good job of immersion!! that's my favorite part of stories so i really work hard to make my stories feel immersive and i think i do it well!
💋 First kiss fics. Love em or hate em?
sort of depends on what 'first kiss' is defined as? first kiss overall like the first time a chara has kissed someone? eh, take it or leave it, probably depends on the rest of the fic. first kiss between two characters? i eat that shit up i love fics where characters are just getting together for the first time
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
i do not understand how ppl can listen to music of any kind while writing lmao i am just so so unable to listen to Anything even without lyrics or even the like 'helps you focus' music i just cannot. therefore, no songs on loop except whatever happens to get stuck in my head lmao
🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?
gdocs through and through lmao. it supports my need to be able to write from any device (not that i particularly enjoy writing from my phone BUT i want to be able to do it if needed or if i want to access smth i'm working on). i've heard of other good ones but not found anything yet that fills that same niche requirement for me lmao
⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?
mmmm i find it hard to say i've scrapped anything tbh? i do have a fair handful of fics i started but haven't finished, and a few of those i've gotten pretty deep into as well (here's a thread where i talked about some of them!! - x) but nothing i've started and outright been like 'actually i don't want to do this anymore'
🙋‍♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic?
yup!! my irl wife (we met writing fic) and most of my family (on one side) is well aware, although i'm not sure they all understand like. how fanfic works lmao. i do have a few irl friends that are aware as well, but other than that, no coworkers or anything like that!!
🍦 What's the sweetest fic you've created so far?
oh boy. i mean almost every fic i write has some kind of angst so i'm not sure any qualify as like pure unadulterated fluff BUT i think i wrote a pretty sweet one recently for cynonari (x) which i really just think is such a soft and sweet ship so that probably counts lmao
🍷 Do you drink and write?
i don't actually drink lmao so nope!
🍆 Do you write the spicy stuffs? If so, what's your most popular nsfw fic?
aslkdfjkldsf i do indeed. my most popular fic overall, like, ever, is chosen (x) which happens to be spicy :) lmao
🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?
i feel like this makes me sound like a bad employee (not the worst thing to be ig) but i actually fill a lot of my free time during work hours writing lmao. that's when i often feel more motivated. i'm less likely to write on the weekends unless an idea really inspires me, and same thing goes for nighttime generally!
💖 What made you start writing?
tbh i think it's the same story a lot of ppl have? i saw that other people did it, and i couldn't find a very specific idea i had in mind for something i wanted to read, so i was like 'well, fuck it, maybe i can write it' and...the rest is history lmao
in a less generic sense, though, i think i had built this barrier for myself that like. only Professional Authors could write stories, so seeing that people who were decidedly Not professional authors were writing and sharing and they were good at it without being professionals was like...kind of eye-opening for me? and it helped me push past the idea that, as a person who was Not a ""professional author"", i was Not Allowed to write stories
💌 How do you feel about comments and feedback?
i absolutely love comments and feedback if they're positive! not in a 'i can't handle criticism' kind of way, just in a 'i am sharing this online at no cost because i enjoyed creating it and i hope other ppl will enjoy reading it, and i did not ask for criticism' kind of way. and genuinely i've been super fortunate when it comes to comments like yall are all so lovely!!! and i greatly appreciate the folks who may have clicked onto a fic and started reading and went 'yknow what, not for me' and just peacefully exited without feeling any need to bash on me for stuff they didn't like. the only time i am not appreciative of comments/feedback is when it's critical (constructive or otherwise) because i very specifically did not anywhere ask for any kind of criticism on my stories lmao
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
uhhhh tbh i'll straight up never say never? like, never thought i'd write major character death but whoops i did actually do that (x) and it stands as one of my fave fics i've ever written lmao. i think there's stuff i feel less comfy writing (certain kinks) and stuff i tend to steer clear of cause it's just not what i enjoy (unrequited pining, jealousy) but that's not to say i'd never write it if the right opportunity came up, y'know?
💲 Would you ever open commissions?
uhh probably not? again, i'll never say never!! but i'm pretty strict about keeping hobbies separate from money-generating work, and writing is no exception, especially given the gray area of writing commissions and posting on ao3! i do take prompts pretty much whenever, and i'm happy to work with ppl who have a specific idea and would otherwise commission me, but actually commissioning/opening commissions is not something i have any plans to do!
🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?
usually not really lmao. sometimes i'll do research within the realm of the fandom ie digging around genshin lore and quests and locations and stuff, or looking for phrasing in some quest or another, but outside that i genuinely rarely do research lmaooooo. i write on vibes and whatever logic i can slap together in between one sentence and the next lmao
🏆 What's your most popular fic?
chosen (x)! i think it's the combo of zhongchi and smut, but honestly i'm just honored it's become so popular
🎃 Do you write fics for certain holidays? Which is your favorite holiday inspired fic?
i do on occasion!! ngl it's probably my halloween kaeluc (x) from the year before last, that was just like. a good crack-turned-serious fic and a lot of fun to write lmao
🎯 Have any of your readers accurately guessed major plot points? Care to share which?
alksjdfklsdjf i don't think i really made much of an effort to hide the foreshadowing but there were quite a few people guessing that kaeya and 'gaia auberon' in Kaeya and the Huge Bread (x) were one in the same lmaooo which, of course, was absolutely correct
🎨 How do you feel about fan art of your stories?
i cannot express enough that anyone who has done or will do fanart for any of my fics has my entire heart and soul and i love u deeply. there is nothing quite as heartwarming as knowing that something i wrote inspired someone else to create something
📈 How many fics do you have?
as of right now, 220 across 3 fandoms!
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
outlining actively drains me of inspiration and motivation so i am fully a pantser and really the only time i'll plan really anything is if i'm approaching the back half of a fic and it's a long boi and i'm trying to decipher what has to happen to arrive at a satisfying conclusion. but short fics/oneshots and at least the first half of long fics are fully pants'd!!!
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
oh boy uhhhhh well i'll say that there's one centered around a particular waffle shop i encountered while traveling that happened to inspire some pretty silly and fun fic ideas lmao
🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
write!!! just write, just do it. anything that your attention fixes on, run with it. it's not gonna be perfect and that's fine!!! just put words down and put more down and keep on going til you have something, then u can workshop or not!! write, and enjoy yourself
💞 Who's your comfort character?
hmmmm probably either childe or kaeya? i think i really just enjoy settling in and writing about them in whatever situations. i have a lot of fun with their internal monologues so i find it easy to sort of just. vibe and not have to think too hard about writing them, which makes them quite comfortable for me (i know this isn't the exact definition of a comfort character but it's close enough lmao)
🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?
aslkdfjkljsdf see above commentary - i do also love diluc and zhongli, they're not hard to get into the mindset to write and they do have fun speech patterns lmao. i also enjoy a bit of unhinged bakugou on occasion lmao
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
“Luc,” Kaeya says, and coughs out a laugh at his own breathlessness. As carefully as he can manage, he shifts his pants back up over his hips, only winces briefly at the rough fabric against his oversensitive cock. Winces slightly more at the pressure directly on his ass as he sits up.
“I missed you,” he says, and wonders if it sounds…less like it means something, after that. But if it does, Diluc must not take it that way. He lifts a hand to his lips, dips his head just a bit.
“I…I’m sorry. I did not apologize for the way I behaved, and you deserve an apology.”
Kaeya’s heart clenches in his chest, old wounds torn again, though he can’t deny that it brings him a sort of peace to hear it. To know that he didn’t- that his ignorance was not his own fault. Though perhaps it is a blessing, in the end - had Diluc not shattered him in the way that he did, there is a chance that he’d never have taken his country’s reins so confidently, with such intent.
As though he might’ve learned how to turn back time by digging into each and every facet of his father’s operations, integrating with them so seamlessly that he would know of a bird taking flight at dawn on the other side of the country no later than noon.
😬 Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?
egg fics sdlkfjsdlkf. hands down. sorry to the part of me that cringes that i haven't managed to kill yet lmao
🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?
mmmm i mean i think a fic is successful generally if i enjoyed writing it BUT i do (as everyone does) enjoy knowing that other ppl enjoyed the story too? so kudos are nice, but really i love when i get comments, even just like. one comment where someone called out a couple specific things they liked, that's what makes me really happy
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
hmmm great question? i feel like i tend to write stories about self discovery and self doubt, and about overcoming internal barriers or boundaries for the sake of something a character might consider 'selfish' but ultimately brings them closer to their truest selves and the lives they strive for
📚 Would you ever want to turn writing into a career?
uhhh not in any traditional sense? as mentioned earlier, i like to keep hobbies and money separate, but i wouldn't necessarily be opposed to adjusting and selling something after it's already been written. but deadlines/writing for a living is a big no for me lmao
⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?
it absolutely depends !!! i've had days where i unironically bash out 10k in a day, other days where writing a single sentence is like pulling teeth. on average i can probably hit 2-3k a day depending on the day and my free time though? which, ofc, depending on the fic, could amount to a whole chapter, half a chapter, the whole fic, or a small fraction of a oneshot lmao
🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
tbh i like to think i'm pretty alright with most genres? like, the right idea and inspiration can usually get me past any serious roadblocks, and practice makes better (i won't say perfect lmao)
💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?
yes. see aforementioned major character death fic lmao (x)
💥 How do you feel about criticism?
didn't ask for it, don't care for it, if i want it i'll ask people i know personally and trust to 1. know my writing style and 2. deliver criticism in a constructive way for me personally to receive
🤭 Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?
hmm probably 'getting together' since that is up there as one of my fave stories to write lmao
🥰 How do you feel about reader interaction? Are you open to receiving questions about your fics?
YES YE SYES YESYEYS always i love interaction, i love questions about stories ESPECIALLY if they're big sprawling aus of any sort. interaction my beloved.

Songs from Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR album you associate to MHA guys after you two break up
w/ Bakugou, Kaminari, Kirishima, Tenya, Todoroki, Dabi, Hawks
warning: angst
navigation
Tumblr media
Bakugou Katsuki
Tumblr media
"All I did was speak normally, somehow I still struck a nerve"
"Never doubted myself fo much"
"I'm the love of your life until I make you mad"
"And I'd leave you but the roller coaster is all I ever had"
throughout most of the relationship, you were unable to understand/predict Katsuki's mood, leaving you on your toes and guarded most of the time
KAMINARI DENKI
Tumblr media
"You'd talk to her, maybe did even worse"
"Ain't it funny how you ran to her the second we called it quits?"
"You'd talk to her when we were together"
"Guess you didn't cheat, but you're still a traitor"
"Remember I brought her up and you told me I was paranoid."
Denki is friendly with everyone, he has a pretty big social circle but what irks you is how he doesn't see to have any boundaries at all
you noticed that he treats you the same way he treats all his other close girl friends
TODOROKI SHOTO
Tumblr media
"I bet she's bragging to all her friends, saying you're so unique"
"So when you gon' tell her, that we did that too? She thinks it's special but it's all reused."
"Do you call her, almost say my name? Cause let's be honest we kinda do sound the same."
"I hate to think that I was just your type"
"Do you get deja vu?"
Shoto is a simple man; which means the girls he's ever been with, including you, have not only one but multiple things in common
he doesn't seem to be interested in changing his ways, and you once hoped to be the one to change him. nah, relax bob the builder. seven other girls who went before you thought that too
KIRISHIMA EIJIRO
Tumblr media
"And you're probably with that one girl who always made me doubt."
"I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one."
"I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone."
"All my friends are tired of hearing how much I miss you"
"Cause I still fuckin' love you"
"You said forever now I drive alone past your street"
this man. he. fucking. broke. you.
every time you looked at him while you two were together, you imagined a future with him, you imagined nothing in the world can tear you two apart
you would watch the whole world burn if it meant getting him to smile
when he told you he fell out of love, you felt everything about you disappear. you turned into a hollow shell of a human for weeks, to months, to years.
when i tell you this man affected you so much to the point that he ruined trust and love for you...
TENYA IIDA
Tumblr media
"If I looked like the other prom queens I know that you loved before"
"Tried so hard to be everything that you liked, just for you to say you're not the compliment type"
"I read all of your self-help books so you'd think that I was smart"
"You found someone more exciting. the next second, you were gone"
"You left me there crying wondering what I did wrong"
"All I ever wanted was to be enough for you"
"I'd say you broke my heart but you broke much more than that. Now I don't want your sympathy I just want myself back."
"Don't you think I loved you too much to be used and discarded?"
relating this song after a break up with Iida says a lot about you during the relationship; self-destructive, maybe a little too obsessed? perhaps this feeling was new to you and you didn't want to lost this feeling.
the break up leaves you wondering if Iida really did love you for who you are or for who you tried to be and tried to show him during the relationship
DABI
Tumblr media
"Know that I love you so bad, I let you treat me like that, I was your willing accomplice, honey."
"Those things I did, just so I could call you mine."
"I hope I was your favorite crime."
"I defended you to all my friends."
"every time a siren sounds, I wonder if you're around. 'Cause you know that I'd do it all again."
"It's bittersweet to think about the damage that we do, cause you were going down but I was doing it with you."
"I say that I hate you with a smile on my face."
Dabi used your status as a pro hero to have access to information. And you should have known better, you should have planned three, seven, ten steps ahead. But somewhere in between, you fell in love
You thought him opening up about his past meant he trusted you. You thought when he saved you from a burning building meant he cared for you. But it was all a ruse; an attempt to have you think he was genuine.
TAKAMI KEIGO
Tumblr media
"You've moved on, found someone new."
"She's so sweet, she's so pretty. Does she mean you forgot about me?"
"I hope you're happy but not like how you were with me."
"An eternal love bullshit you know you'll never mean. Remember when I believed you meant it when you said it first to me?"
"Say you love her baby, just not like you loved me."
what you and Hawks had was something real, something genuine, something that's one out of a million
everyone truly thought you two were a match made in heaven. everyone thought you were his first love. nope. being a pro hero and saving civilians is his first love
having a woman in his arms, a woman to come home to, a woman to share moments with and make memories with was just a help to pass time
safe to say you became one toxic motherfucker after he left you for his bunny best friend

BNHA chapter 291 reactions
Tumblr media
That’s one adorable child and that’s also one horrible way to die.
Not that we’re sure that he actually die, since 1. He is here and living his full theater kid potential. 2. For anyone who is reading BNHA vigilante, you would know that it’s not the first time AFO grabbed a hero student who may or may not have died.
Now, my question is “Where do that lower jaw bone came from?” Can you still extract DNA from something that was practically cremated? If not, does AFO have a room with a bunch of bones that he can drop on his way out?
Also, how old is Touya here? I know he looks younger than he is but is he old enough to be in UA?
I. Need. Answers.
Tumblr media
That’s the second kid who got white hair after a ridiculously powerful quirk appeared and I now have other questions.
Such as, will I get a white-haired-Izuku anytime soon?
By the way, can we consider that Tenko and Touya have quirk singularities?
Tumblr media
1. I can hear half of the writing community weeping because Touya had red hair. And at least one other person grumbling because Touya changing hair color with the seasons.
2. It’s incredible how tiny Touya doesn’t look like the Touya we know. He had a completely different demeanor.
3. Good to know Endeavor was not always a dick.
Tumblr media
Don’t mind me, I am just fascinated at seeing tiny Touya looking at Baby Fuyumi (while clutching my chest because them being twins is jossed). That’s the most adorable thing I have ever seen.
Also, very relieved to know that Rei agreed to have several kids.
Now, I need to know what happened to make that family collapse.
Tumblr media
Touya is wearing different clothes than in the first image so that means he might have some resistance at first but his fire grew too hot for his body.
Now, my question is: how come he couldn’t regulate the temperature of his flames like fire users in his family?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Am I... feeling bad... for Endeavor?
Oh my.
Tumblr media
You know, you might have been invited if he had known you were alive.
I love Dabi’s face here. He is such a little shit.
Tumblr media
Reminder that they are all stuck here until Shigaraki actually tells Machia to move.
I don’t know about you but I find it absolutely hilarious that Gigantomachia picked them up, brought them to the most dangerous place in the whole combat zone as the number 1 hero and the craziest hero students around are here, and is now refusing to move.
Honestly? If Dabi wasn’t accidentally holding the floor, they would have been incinerated.
Tumblr media
What are you trying to say, Harima Oji?
Are you a secret Todoroki family member too?
Or did you hear Shigaraki call Izuku little brother and you’re now trying to wrap your mind around everyone around here apparently being related and this war being the messiest Sunday family dinner ever?
Tumblr media
I actually wanted to talk about that because this DNA test is absolutely useless. I can assure you that people probably can’t even read those pages and even if they can, it would be just so easily to fake.
Actually, you know what? If Dabi didn’t do that on his computer on his own, I would just be so disappointed because waving a DNA around is just pointless in this situation.
Especially as I don’t see when he had the time to get some blood from the Kyushu fight? He only had the time to take two steps in Endeavor’s direction before running like hell when Miruko arrived (which was a rare sign of common sense, so kudos to him, I guess.)
Tumblr media
You hear that sound?
That’s the sound of Dabi destroying his family every chance at being normal once again. Forget all the progress they made, they will now be under public scrutiny forever, everyone having an opinion on their family.
That will wreck them.
And I am not even talking about Rei.
Tumblr media
I see that at this point, Dabi is just ending for everyone’s career...
Tumblr media
I am just going to stay there and stare at the wall as I am thinking about Dabi broascasting a murder on every screen of the country.
Tumblr media
That’s just so disrespectful to Twice. He fought for his friends and instead, Dabi turned his last moment in him desperately pleading.
Also, that was a really dumb move.
Listen here, kids, when you throw a mind-breaking revelation at someone, you stick as close to the truth as possible because if people find anything that doesn’t make sense, your whole story will be doubted.
Also, casual reminder...
Tumblr media
Hawks recorded what was going on.
That means that if this recording thing is found, they can discredit Dabi’s entire story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this point, I am just trying to see if he still has his wings. That’s all I am asking. A confirmation that his feathers will grow back.
Just... stay asleep, Hawks. Rest for a week or two so someone can sort this mess. That’s your best course of action because if you woke up now, you would probably crawl back into a coma.
Tumblr media
Was that a bird pun?
Now, that’s just being mean.
I think I remember than in Japan, being related to a criminal is not good, but since BNHA is set in the future, maybe things changed?
If not, I am curious to see how this revelation will affect Hawks. You know, just for sociological purposes.
*hangs on to Izuku who is related to the worst villain this country had ever know, and who actually destroyed Kamino and almost murdered All Might not too long ago*
Tumblr media
*squints as I am trying to know what they are advertising*
Dabi: “Think more critically! Try to see things through my point of view, right after I admitted I killed 30 people!”
Tumblr media
Reminder that the OG group who fought Shigaraki sacrificed everything to stall him, they are half dead, and they are now facing the end of their society as they know it.
That’s what despair looks like.
Tumblr media
Be careful what you wish for, Todoroki Enji.
Shouto is just breaking my heart right now. This is a nightmare. He is the boy who made sure that they were alone when he told Midoriya about his family history. He is the boy who was just started to consider forgiving his father, or at the very least, working so their family would be happy. Things were starting to get better, and now, he has to deal with imminent death, his, his friends and his father.
He isn’t even asking Endeavor to fight Dabi. He will do it. He must know that Nejire and him simply can’t win against the LoV and Gigantomachia but it’s not like there is anyone else.
Everyone is down and right now, the number 1 hero is too shocked to even blink, and if he doesn’t pull himself together in the next second, they are going to die.
Damnit, Shouto actually called him father.
Tumblr media
Hey, remember that attack that incinerated a noumu with Regeneration? That attack that Endeavor had to use high in the sky or the collateral damage would have been hellish, in every sense of the word?
Yeah, they almost all died right there.
Tumblr media
WE STAN ONE HERO.
BEAST JEANIST, BACK FROM THE DEAD, READY TO JUDGE DABI FOR HIS CRIMES AGAINST FASHION (and also the war crimes, if you insist).
THAT’S WHY YOU FACT CHECK EVERYTHING, DABI. SO YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE AN IMBECILE AFTER YOU ACCUSED THE NUMBER 2 HERO OF KILLING THE MOST FABULOUS MAN OF THE COUNTRY.

The Girl: Part Seven
Tumblr media
<< Previous Part | Masterlist | Next Part >> (Coming Soon)
Rating: R / 18+ Warnings: Swearing, a little bit of violence. Notes: There are manga spoilers in this chapter re: Dabi. Those who know, will know what I’m talking about. Though I think it’s pretty much common knowledge at this point, even if you aren’t up-to-date.
Tumblr media
Part Seven: The Connection
“What the fuck are they doing here?”
Eijirou was just as surprised to see the pair of them. They had hardly seen each other in the past three years, and that had only been in passing.
“They’re part of the BD,” Jirou explained.
“Hey, that’s Midoriya, but who’s the other? He looks familiar,” asked Denki.
His question was ignored.
Eijirou watched as the two men walked down the hall and bumped into a couple of girls on their way to the bathroom, and disappeared into the unloaded void, until Katsuki said, “This has to be what Aizawa was talking about.”
“It could just be a coincidence,” Eijirou replied, but even he didn’t believe his own words. What were the odds that those two would be here if it didn’t coincide with them.
“Who is he?”
“No, they’re involved somehow. EJ can you rewind this thing?”
“Sure, give me a sec. I can only go as far back as when the kid came upstairs though if you want to have them in range.”
“Do it!”
“Hey, will someone listen to me? Who was that guy hanging with Midoriya?”
Eijirou filled him in. “Shouto Todoroki.”
“Todoroki? As in the Todoroki Dynasty?”
Eijirou nodded. The son of one of the richest men in the city, if not the country.
Denki whistled.
“Ok guys, I’m ready.”
“Just fucking do it already!” bit Katsuki.
Time seemed to freeze for a split second, before the world started to reverse itself.
The door to the bathroom, which had shut just moments ago behind the girls from before, reopened, and the girls backtracked out of the room and down the hall.
“This is trippy,” commented Denki as he watched them walking backwards past him and towards the stairs. “Oh, hey, the Todoroki dude is coming too.”
Eijirou saw one of the girls push the other, when in reality he knew she was reaching out to her friend, to stop her from falling from the stumble that was playing out in reverse, caused by the jostling that Midoriya was about to enact.
It looked like he had deliberately knocked her, but really she had stumbled into him from her inebriation.
After the little incident, the two men reenter the room in the opposite order they came out, and a little while later Beanie’s girl returned to the room that he was passed out in.
The two guys that Eijirou still had an itching to throttle and the intoxicated girl made their appearance too, and many others filtered passed the three stationary friends.
Eventually, Beanie’s girl exited the room with him in tow, but as the brain dance rewound, it was as if he was pulling her towards the staircase.
Then the world paused.
“That’s it,” said Jirou. “That’s as far back as I can go if you want to see what they were up to.”
“Okay, replay it.”
Katsuki pressed his ear up against the door, and grumbled, “Can’t hear shit!”
“Here, I’ll turn up the volume and mask any background noise.”
The music and chatter that was drifting throughout the house dimmed and muffled, causing Eijirou to feel like he was swimming underwater. When the sounds from the room grew louder and clearer, Eijirou blushed to the tips of his ears when he realised what exactly the two men were doing.
“I think we all know what that means; the kid’s not the only one who got lucky that night.”
“Will you shut the fuck up!”
“Kinky, Kacchan, I didn’t think you were-”
Eijirou slapped a hand over the blond’s mouth before the other blond knocked him out.
“Quiet, it could be important.” Eijirou whispered, trying not to piss off Katsuki even more.
Denki’s reply was muffled, but Eijirou caught the gist of it, “Whaa oo mmhortanph ahhhouu owoo ghmm uukmmg.”
“Shhh.”
At last, the moaning and grunting died down, and heavy breathing filled the room.
“You really couldn’t find a better venue?” Eijirou identified the voice as belonging to Todoroki.
“It’s more suspicious when we go to a hotel.” And that was Midoriya’s.
“And a frat house is better?”
“I thought that we could get lost in the crowd, and if most of the people are drunk, they will never remember seeing us here.” Eijirou pictured the green haired man shrugging at the other as he said the next part, “Besides, most people don’t know that you’re related.”
“Keyword is most, Izuku.” There were sounds of rustling, and Eijirou guessed they were redressing. “If my father ever finds out about-”
Footsteps. “I know.”
“I can’t let him-” A whisper.
The sounds of a kiss and a sigh. “I know.”
“We’re lucky he's distracted right now with the trouble that’s been going on.” More rustling.
“Do you know what he’s planning on doing about that?”
“That is information I'm not privy to. Yet, if I had to guess, he will have no choice but to kill him.”
“You really think he would do something like that?”
“After what he did, I think so. Tou- no, Dabi -” Eijirou’s gaze shot towards Katsuki, to find his own staring back intensely. “- I can’t picture him with that name anymore. He has a lot to make up for in my father’s eyes, and if he doesn’t, I wouldn’t put it past him to take him out if it came down to it. They're both at fault and I don’t know what to do to fix it.”
More footsteps, that seemed to be getting louder. “You know I’m here for you whenever you need me, right?”
There was no reply, but what Midoriya said next made Eijirou assume Todoroki had affirmed his answer with a nod.
“Good. Now, let’s get going, I left Ochako to cover for us.”
The door opened, and the three eavesdroppers stepped out of the way to once again watch the couple bump into the drunk girls.
“I guess talking to Midoriya and Todoroki is next on our list,” said Eijirou, not happy about how this had turned out, if there was one thing that could make his spiky haired friend mad by just mentioning the name it was -
“Fucking Deku!” Katsuki grumbled as he spun around to hit the wall, only for his hand to pass through it.
“Whoa, calm down, Bro. I’m not sure about Todoroki, but Midoriya’s an understanding guy, he’ll help us out.”
“Yeah, otherwise I’ll just tell daddy dearest what he gets up to in his spare time.”
“Not to rain on your parade guys,” interrupted Denki, “but do you know when this was recorded?”
“What do you mean?” asked Eijirou, perplexed at the out of nowhere question.
“He has a point,” said Katsuki as Denki grinned.
Eijirou suddenly felt like he had been left out of the loop, and didn’t know where this line of thinking was going. It was rare for Katsuki to agree with the other man.
“I saw a guy on his phone earlier; EJ, take us back a couple of minutes.”
Jirou rewound the recording at Katsuki’s command, to the point where a student passed them with his cellphone in hand, and paused it.
Katsuki looked at the lit up display and scowled.
“What?” Eijirou queried, taking a gander himself.
The screen displayed a date from just over a year ago.
“Let’s hope Scarface didn’t get fed up with Deku’s useless ass.”
Tumblr media
You woke up the next afternoon, sore and achy. You had really done a number on yourself during training. Mina was lying in the bed next to you and she shifted in her sleep as you sat up with a groan.
Looking towards the couch, you saw Bakugou wasn’t home, so you decided on taking a long hot shower to ease the stiffness in your joints. Screw his rules, you were hurting.
As the scaling water cascaded down your back, you rolled your neck and shoulders to ease some of the tension.
Something was going on, something that involved you, and everyone around you thought that keeping you in the dark was what was best.
Ever since you had awoken from that box, you had felt something was off, it had started when Doctor Chiyo had avoided questions about how you came to be here, and could not give you a satisfactory answer as to why your amnesia had gone on for so long; why it was only your name you couldn’t remember or how you ended up in the box.
She had said it was due to trauma, but the look on her face told you differently. She was good at hiding it, but you could see it in the wrinkles around her eyes, she was worried about something.
There were probably other memories you couldn’t recall and you would never know, especially because you didn’t have someone who could confirm them. That scared you the most, and sent a tingling sense of dread crawling down your spine.
Mina had been acting strange all night, waving your questions off with some vague, noncommittal answer. When you asked where Eijirou and Bakugou were, she answered with, “Probably some work for Aizawa.” When you asked why she was here, she had said she was bored and that Kyoka was too busy to hang out with her.
And that’s how it went until you gave up trying to get anything useful out of her. She had gone back to her cheeky old self once you dropped the subject.
Eijirou was more of an open book, it was a shame that he had been so busy recently that you couldn’t ask him about it. You were sure out of everyone he would be the one to spill the big secret they were keeping from you.
Asking Bakugou was a no go, he would only tell you to, “Fuck off” in that aggressive tone of his and refuse to speak to you for the rest of the day.
What were they hoping to achieve by ignoring your questions? If they thought it would lessen the stress of you trying to get home and put this all behind you, they were sorely mistaken. It only put you more on edge, knowing that there was something they were keeping from you.
You were sure their intentions were good and that they didn’t want to hurt you unnecessarily, but you couldn’t help that horrible creeping feeling clouding your mind, and prickling along your skin whenever they brushed aside your inquiries.
You would not give up though, you would be getting your answers sooner rather than later.
Turning off the shower, you dried and dressed yourself to find that Bakugou had returned and bought Eijirou along with him.
The big man greeted you with a tired smile.
“Long night?” you asked.
He nodded, rubbing a hand over the fresh stubble along his jaw. “Yeah,” he said, “Got a lot done though.”
You raised an eyebrow at that, and chanced a glance at Bakugou as you took a seat on the couch next to Eijirou. He wasn’t looking at you, and instead was busying himself with making coffee.
“Are you working today?”
You were hoping he would say no and be your babysitter for the day.
“Unfortunately. Better than sitting around doing nothing though.”
Your face dropped in disappointment.
“Oh, it’s your day off right? Did you want to do something?” he asked, spreading his arm along the back of the couch behind you.
You were shocked that he had caught on so quickly. “I just thought we could do some more training today.”
“You should probably take it easy,” suggested Mina, from her place on the bed. “I’m surprised you're even walking after the way Eiji was throwing you around.”
Embarrassment flooded you, causing you to look down at your lap as you remembered the events of that day, and it was not because of the redhead.
Just then, Bakugou banged two coffees down on the coffee table, before he went to collect his own and took a seat beside you.
“Hmm, thanks.”
His grunt was customary, and you smiled into your cup at his predictability. He was getting much easier to read the longer you stayed here, however, he always found a way to surprise you when you least expected it.
“Raccoon Eyes, when is Round Face next on shift?”
Now that surprised you.
“Tonight,” she said from her lounging position on the bed.
“I’m going to need to borrow her for the night.”
“Fine, but know that you’ve lost me one of my biggest earners, and you will be the one to compensate both her and me.”
“Fine,” he said with a wave of dismissal.
That got your mind whirling.
Why was he so interested in Ochako, and why did he need to borrow her?
Tumblr media
The boys dropped Mina and you off at the club that afternoon, with Bakugou saying he would be back later to pick up Ochako, and for Mina to let her know.
He never let on why he needed her, and you didn’t like the thoughts your traitorous mind was conjuring, or the feelings that accompanied them.
She was beautiful, and like Mina said, one of the most popular dancers at Pinky’s. There were a slew of admirers that came to the club just to see her, and there had been a few fights break out over the curvaceous beauty.
Bakugou didn’t seem like the type to date; no hand holding or casual walks around the city enjoying the lights, so we’re they casual fuck buddies? You hadn’t seen him with any girls since being here, not in an intimate way at least, and the only females you had seen him talk to were the girls at the club, and even then he was not particularly forthcoming in his conversations with them.
Speaking of the girls at the club, you had heard enough dressing room talk to know that many of them were lusting over the blond, and Eijirou, come to think of it, and he only had eyes for Mina. Ochako had never shown any interest, but just because she didn’t say anything didn’t mean she wasn’t thinking it. Lizzy was the worst for it, describing many of the filthy ways she wanted him to take her; against the wall, on his motorcycle, in the club’s bathroom, even on stage in front of the entire club and its patrons.
So you didn’t get it when they teased you about him, how he was thirsty for you. You were ‘Bakugou’s Girl’ after all.
You couldn’t see it; he treated you just as he did the others. Sure, he sometimes paid for your lunch, but he was always complaining about the food you liked to eat; and yes, he would give you a ride home when he could, but that was understandable, you lived together; and okay, sometimes you would catch him staring at you, but you were sure it was because he’s found some fault about you.
You needed to put this to bed and get on with your job.
Work went on as usual. The girls had practice and you watched them as you took notes. Later, you began fixing the clothing they were planning on wearing for the night in between making the costumes for Friday.
Throughout all this though, you had unconsciously kept a closer eye on Ochako. There was nothing out of the ordinary about her behavior, even when Mina had told her about Bakugou; she had just rolled her eyes as if him needing her was a daily occurrence.
Eventually, night rolled through and he appeared, walking straight into the dressing room and nodding for Ochako to follow him.
Following too, you flattened yourself against the wall around the corner so as not to be seen.
You couldn’t hear what was said, so you took a peek; Bakugou was leaning over her, arm braced against the wall above her head as they whispered to each other.
It was all rather intimate, and it had your heart stopping when he reached into the back pocket of her jeans to pull out her cell phone to hand to her.
Ochako didn’t seem pleased about the action, but she began typing away on her cell while Bakugou studiously watched her.
With a nod, Bakugou pushed away from the wall and exited through the back door and Ochako followed.
You stepped out of your hiding place and rested your hand against your rapidly beating heart.
What was that all about?
You had no time to contemplate about that though as a call pulled you back, “Stitches, my tits are falling out of this bra and I can’t breathe, do you have a bigger size?”
You would have to think about it later.
Tumblr media
“You in position?”
“Yeah,” Eijirou replied through his ear piece. “We’ve got the entrance covered.”
“Good. Round Face should be coming out with him soon, so don’t lose him.”
“Got’cha.”
“We on?” asked Denki.
Eijirou nodded as he started up the van’s engine and shifted it into gear. “Turn on the tracker and keep your eyes peeled, Katsuki said they would be showing up any minute.”
Denki opened his laptop and Eijirou saw the display light up, and a map of the city displayed Uraraka’s location in the restaurant across the street.
“Here she comes.”
Both she and Midoriya came walking out and they watched as he opened the door of his green sports car so she could sit in the passenger seat, then moved around to the driver’s before pulling away.
“We got 'em,” reported Eijirou.
“Good. I’ll be right behind you.”
Keeping a safe distance, they followed the pair as they made their way through the city.
“You think Midoriya’s about to get lucky, or do you think he’s still with Todoroki?”
The redhead shrugged, “I don’t know, they kind of drifted apart a few years ago, but Uraraka had always kept in touch with him.”
Denki hummed, “Didn’t she have a thing for him back in school? Maybe that candle’s still burning.”
“I feel sorry for her if it is.”
“Yeah, because you would know all about that.”
Eijirou could feel the heat rising in his cheeks, “This has nothing to do with me.”
Denki rolled his eyes, “Yeah, right. I wish you would just hurry up and tell Mina you've been sporting a decade long hard on for her. I don’t know how you walk with the size of those blue balls you're carrying around.”
“I’ll tell her when I’m good and ready.”
“And when will that be?” he snorted. “When your dick is all shriveled and you can’t get it up anymore?”
“Shut up and keep your eyes on the tracker.”
They made it into Wellsprings, and parked up outside a small apartment complex, Katsuki not far behind.
“What now?”
“We wait for Uraraka’s signal.”
“Why all the cloak and dagger, why don’t we just talk to him like we used to?”
“Because Katsuki never got along with Todoroki and he wants to make sure that it doesn’t turn into a fight when we get up there. Plus, we needed Uraraka to be the buffer just in case.”
“So she’s telling them why we're here right now.”
“Don’t you ever listen to the plan?”
“Don’t tell Kacchan, but no.”
“I think he already does.” Eijirou noticed his friend approaching through his wing mirror, “Be quiet, he’s coming.”
They both settled back in their seats as the back doors of the van opened and Katsuki made his way to the front.
“Any problems?” he asked as he knelt down behind their seats and rested an arm on Eijirou’s headrest.
Denki shook his head, “No, all quiet on the enemy front. Fancy place though, how much do you think they’re spending.”
“They’re probably not spending shit and using Scarface’s daddy's money for their little love nest.”
“They still together then?” asked Eijirou, looking over his shoulder at the blond.
He nodded, “Although she hasn’t been in contact with Deku for a few months, Round Face confirmed it.”
“You think Todoroki’s up there too?”
“Hopefully,” said Denki. “He’s the key to all of this, isn’t he?”
“I thought you said you weren’t listening?” Eijirou said with a frown.
“I wasn’t, I just remembered what he said in the BD.”
Katsuki’s cell chimed with an alert for an incoming text.
Eijirou waited for the verdict. Was this going to be peaceful or were they going to have to start knocking heads. He hoped it was the former.
The blond grunted, “She says Deku will speak with us, but that menthol smelling bastard’s not there.”
The three of them piled out of the car and entered the building, taking the elevator up to the top floor.
“Penthouse,” grinned Denki, “Nice.”
It was nice, and when Uraraka opened the door for them Eijirou removed his boots and heard Denki whistle at the floor to ceiling windows that displayed a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Midoriya sat in the center of the spacious room that was decorated in the traditional Japanese style, and Uraraka disappeared down a hallway.
Once he saw them enter he stood from the kotatsu and smiled, “Kirishima, Kaminari it’s been so long.”
They both shook his proffered hand with smiles of their own. Midoriya’s didn’t last long when he spied Katsuki over Denki’s shoulder.
“Kacchan,” he nodded.
Eijirou held his breath, Katsuki had said he would try to be civil for the sake of the job, however, he was known to blow up in the past just from seeing the other man.
“Deku,” he nodded back.
Phew, so far so good.
“Take a seat,” Midoriya said, gesturing to the floor which was lined with tatami mats. Eijirou took a seat beside Denki, but Katsuki stayed standing.
“What about drinks for old times’ sake. You got any sake?”
Eijirou slapped him on the back of the head before Katsuki could. “Should have left you in the van.”
“Oh,” Midoriya said, surprised. “Sorry, no.”
“Awww.”
“Shut the fuck up, Sparky, before I put my fist through your face.”
Midoriya laughed, “Still the same old Kacchan, I see.”
“You too Deku, we’re not here to play house.”
“Then what are you here for?” he asked, cocking his head.
“We want to know about Dabi.”
Eijirou watched as the green haired man's already large eyes got impossibly larger.
“D-Dabi? Ochako said you needed to speak to me about something but she didn’t say it was about that.”
“We just want to know who he is and where we can find him,” said Eijirou. “He’s a person of interest in a case we’re working.”
“But why have you come to me? What makes you think I know him?”
“We heard you,” offered the bright haired blond, picking at the chips in a bowl on the kotatsu, “After you had just fuck-”
Eijirou slapped him again. He was beginning to think his loud-mouthed friend was deliberately doing this to piss everyone off and see the explosion that would inevitably erupt. He needed to get things back on track before he let something slip that he shouldn’t.
“What he means to say, is that we overheard a conversation you had and his name came up.”
“B-but where could you-”
“Stop beating around the bush Deku, we fucking heard you talking to Scarface. Now tell us who he is.”
“I-I c-can’t. It’s not my place.”
“Then get Scarface here, we know he’s involved in this somehow.”
Midoriya stood, and something changed within him, a confidence Eijirou had never seen before.
“Shouto’s not here. And I’m not that little boy you used to push around anymore, Kacchan, so I won’t allow you to intimidate me into getting what you want.”
“Good on ya, Midoriya, you tell him.”
Eijirou didn’t need to hit him this time because Katsuki smacked Denki so hard his head smashed into the table, and he came back up with a bloody nose.
“Oww, what the fuck?”
“Shut the fuck up!” Turning back to Midoriya, Katsuki squared up to him and his right eye glowed a harsh crimson, “If you don’t tell me who the fuck Dabi is in the next ten fucking seconds, I will put you through that fucking window.”
This was getting out of hand, and so quickly too. Eijirou frowned; he had to do something before all hell broke loose. He stood, pulled Katsuki away from the shorter man and stood between the two. “That’s enough, we’re getting nowhere like this.”
“I can’t,” Midoriya said again. “I made a promise.”
“Fuck your promise,” spat Katsuki. “A girl’s life is in danger, and you’re willing to fuck her over because that Scarfaced bastard puts his dick in you.”
The shock on Midoriya’s face was palpable.
“Please, Midoriya,” Eijirou begged, still keeping a tight grip on this friend, who was about to lash out again. “She means a lot to us, to him. We can’t let her die, Dabi is our only lead.”
“What’s this about Dabi?”
Everyone turned to see Shouto Todoroki standing in the doorway to the apartment, and he did not look pleased.
“Bastard.”
Eijirou pulled Katsuki back before he could take a swing at the bi-colored haired man.
“Shouto I-”
“It’s okay, Izuku. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I just wish it wasn’t Bakugou who was involved this time.”
He sighed, walked over to the open plan kitchen and poured himself a glass of wine. He took a long healthy swig and placed the glass back down on the table, the gentleness of the maneuver belied the raging intensity in his eyes.
Todoroki hunched over the counter, his palms flat against the smooth white surface, and said, “What has my brother done this time?”

Misogynist Touya is Canon : Or, Why Touya is Actually the Joker
No, I don’t care what your take is. I also don’t care what extraneous circumstances may have led to Touya making various sexist remarks in his backstory. None of that matters to me, you see. All of you moral-realists can quibble over the character implications and thematic purposes of Touya disparaging the women in his family and dismissing their comprehension of his situation. All that matters to me is that Touya is a misogynist, and this is canon. Nothing will ever exceed this revelation for me, no grand truth will ever embolden my soul more than this here revelation brought to me on this day, February 18, 2021.
Touya is a misogynist. He hates women, those of the female gender, or, as he would himself put it: “femoids.” As can be seen from his position in front of a computer at the age of 13, it can be assumed that he is, in fact, a gamer. This is supported by the fact that Touya, as Dabi, has referred to Spinner derogatorily as “lizard,” which is a term that we know is a common slur thrown at people with mutant quirks in the BNHA universe; thus, we can gather that Touya is also probably racist. In further considering the fact that he has an incredible fixation on the ideal of his father, I believe this all adds up to the most accurate designation for Touya Todoroki being not just a mere misogynist, but an out and about “incel.”
Some of you may understandably feel skeptical of Touya, the BNHA fandom’s resident soft uwu boy, being an incel. Well, have no fear, for I have the ultimate piece of evidence to persuade you of my position. Do you remember when Touya addressed the larger public for the first time, calmly stating his crimes? Do you remember how, after claiming responsibility for the deaths of 30 people, shifted the blame onto Endeavor, saying that he only killed those people, that he only went down this path of villainy, because of Endeavor’s own sins? Yes, that he, just like so many others, were ultimately warped and defined by their past social environment.
You could say, even, that Touya screamed to the world, “We live in a society!”
I, for one, am beyond glad that Horikoshi has finally started fleshing out a character that so many can relate to on a deep, internal level.
The only thing left I have to say now is:
Gamers Rise Up.

Can I Be a Hero?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shigaraki and Hawks are two children who started with the exact same dream, to become a hero only to take completely opposite paths in life. One raised from childhood to be a hero by the hero association, and the other raised by AFO to become a villain.
These two characters are written in parallel, as intentional hero-villain foils. They’re destined to meet in canon one day and just keep barely missing one another so until then let’s explore more of their relationship under the cut.
1. The Same
First, there are several similarities in both their characters and their origins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both come from abusive households. In Hawks’ case it’s only implied but, one he lives in trash and squalor with a beer bottle in the background. The dysfucntion in Hawks’ household life from an early age is obvious, to the point where having his life uprooted by the hero commission is considered a privilege because they promised to pay for everything.
Shigaraki came from what seemed on the surface to be a healthy household. His father was a succesful businessman, the family owned the house, even the in-laws were happily invited to live in the house. Hawks is implied to have grown up in isolation, whereas Shigaraki grew up surrounded by people. However, Tenko suffered from a quieter, and subtler more insidious form of domestic abuse where he was the scapegoated child of an otherwise “Happy home.” Tenko was treated as the problem child and made constantly to feel bad for suffering his father’s abuse like he provoked it by breaking the rules.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both were born into a sort of lineage. Hawks is most likely related to the Great Theif Takami who Endeavor captured, and Shigaraki is the grandson of Nana Shimura.
They’re both adversely affected by the circumstances they were born into. Hawks’ household was probably in that condition because his father was a villain, or his father was captured and he was living on his own. Shigaraki was targeted by AFO because he was Nana’s descendant, and Kotaro carried his feelings of Nana’s abandonment with him for life and this eventually turned him into Tenko’s abuser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both have an event that sets them on their life course.
Tenko’s quirk activates on accident killing his whole family.
Tenko sees a truck accident and uses his quirk to save several people.
As a result of these incidents they are “saved” from their abusive households. It’s important to notice the difference, Hawks conforms by being offered a chance at education and a better life if he decides to become a hero. However, Shigaraki destroyed the household that demanded conformity from him in the first place. He becomes outcasted as a result to the point where nobody even notices him suffering on the street.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They’re both saved by predatory people who take their original names away:
Takami’s name is suppressed and he’s given a hero name instead. He’s literally renamed as a hero.
Tenko is renamed with AFO’s last name. He’s literally renamed as a villain.
On a third note they are both children who you would never look for if they went missing: Hawks was poor, Tenko was literally neglected in the middle of the street in broad daylight allowing AFO to kidnap him.
That’s even literally brought up by All Might and Gran Torino. If they had ignored Nana’s request, and actually monitored her child Kotaro and his family then Shigaraki never would have happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They’re both defined by their quirk, to the extent that their whole lives have been defined by it.
Shigaraki was born with a quirk suited for destruction, and this is what several characters insist that’s all he’s capable of. Shigaraki is then raised to be a symbol of fear who lusts only for destruction.
Hawks was called a genius for his quirk, and raised as a prodigy hero. His quirk is ideally suited for saving people and he’s done so his entire life. His own wish was to become a shining light that inspires everyone the same way Endeavor inspired him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is where they start to diverge. There’s more details I could go on about with all the differences, but I’ll summarize it like this. They present themselves as literal opposites. That is, the character they show to others. Their image. Etc.
Shigaraki is regarded by everyone he meets as a man child. He has visible scarring on his face that he hides. He’s frank and honest, and always tells everyone exactly how he’s feeling.
Hawks’ thing is being “The Man who goes too fast.” If Shigaraki never grew up, then Hawks grew up far too fast. Hawks is deceiptful, never shows his true face even though he doesn’t wear a mask. He’s considered traditionally attractive, does modeling, and is extremely popular and well liked.
2. But Different
If there’s one way to summarize the main difference between Hawks and Shigaraki it’s this. Shigaraki externalizes everything, every feeling, every little bit of trauma he has, instead of holding it all inside of him he pushes everything out. Hawks internalizes he has a rich inner world, but everything on the surface is vapid, it’s shallow, it’s just a performance for him. All of his trauma is inside of him, and he keeps it there. His real self is hidden somewhere in a cage deep within.
The reason they rely on these different strategies of expression is entirely to do with how they were raised. Hawks was raised inside of the system, and was taught confromity. Shigaraki was raised outside of the system. He was taught the exact opposite, to never conform to anybody’s standards.
Tumblr media
They both grew up inside of an assigned role. Shigaraki was told it was his job to destroy whatever he likes, Hawks was told it was his job to save people. However, Hawks is not a better person, or a better victim than Shigaraki. Interanlization is just as bad of a coping strategy as externalization, and just as unhealthy. They are both characters who are barely coping with a lifetime worth of the trauma as being raised as literal child soldiers and exposed to so much violence a young age they’re both desensitized and numb to it. They’re hurting all the time, but also they’re numb.
They’re so similiar down to the fact that they both have the same internal desire. Shigaraki longs to be free from all of his trauma, and Hawks longs to be free from the weight of his responsibility, but it’s still the same longing.
Tumblr media
But they are different.
It would be easy to say that Hawks is the more selfless character because he devotes himself to saving others, whereas Shigaraki is the more selfish because he lashes out at the world from his trauma. However, there’s no such thing as a perfectly selfless person. Hawks is capable of shockingly great feats of selfishness. Shigaraki is someone who can be selfless and do things for other people.
Hawks will go out of his way to destroy people too, just like Shigaraki.  Hawks will destroy his own friends.
There’s a marked difference in the way Hawks and Shigaraki both treat Twice, someone who is a victim with many things in common with the both of them. Twice is someone who did not get saved and fell through the cracks like Shigaraki. Twice is someone who grew up in abject poverty and had to rely on his quirk to survive like Hawks.
Twice is constantly more of a burden to the league than an asset. He’s the reason Magne died, because his too trusting nature had him invite someone like Chisaki without knowing the risk. A normal villain would throw Twice out for his incompetent mistake, but instead he’s comforted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shigaraki says the two of them can work together to fix his mistake. Instead of being thrown out, he’s told he’s needed. He’s asked to stay together with the league for everyone’s sake. Twice at this point is still too traumatized to use his quirk properly. Afterwards, he fails even to duplicate Chisaki’s special bullets. However, Twice has value to the league no matter what his quirk can do. He’s valued as a person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s humanized, both by Shigaraki’s and Toga’s actions together.
Tumblr media
However, Hawks reacts differently. He dehumanizes the people who need his saving the most. When he’s at his most vulnerable, Hawks corners him and rutlessly mocks him.
Look at the opposite way they show their faces. Shigaraki shows his full face for the first time to Twice when Twice, whereas when Hawks reveals his true intentions his face is almost completely obscured.
Tumblr media
Hawks dehuamnizes twice in two regards. One, he insists that Twice conform to his black and white standards. Hawks divides people into good people worthy of saving and bad people who are not. Every member of the league is a victim like Twice. However, Hawks only considers one of them a good person, and one of them is worth saving. Even when Twice says they’re all his friends, Hawks demands Twice betray all of them for the sake of himself. Of course Hawks would, Hawks doesn’t even know what it means to have friends.
Tumblr media
The second way Twice is dehumanized is that Hawks only sees him as the potential damage his quirk can do. Twice is not a three dimmensional person, with reasons for what he’s doing, thoughts, and feelings. Hawks only sees him as a time bomb about to go off. This also relates how Hawks sees people in general, he always, always, always strips them down to their worth to him. Endeavor is someone he can position to be the next number one hero. Twice is someone to use to get closer to the league, and then destroy because he’s too trusting. Hawks only got close to Tokoyami because he wanted information about Class A, even though he did grow a little bit more fond of him.
Twice makes mistakes over and over again for the league, but he’s never thrown out. Even when Twice is the reason the raid is happening, Dabi rushes as fast as he can to save him, Toga almost loses herself avenging him. Twice’s life had value.
Except to Hawks.
Here we strike upon the difference between them and it’s almost entirely in how they treat the people closest between them. They’ve been raised all of their lives as tools, but Shigaraki doesn’t treat other people as tools. Shigaraki accepts people and gives them shelter, Hawks throws them out.
Shigaraki also used to be like this. He used to throw away all the recruits that AFO gave him and waste them on stunts like the UA Invasion. However, it’s something he grew past.
Which is one more difference between them. Shigaraki has this great capacity for change that Hawks has not shown us so far. They both long to be free, but Shigaraki is the only one of the two of them that actually fights against something for that freedom.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki will always choose to make his own decisions, to be his own person.
However, Hawks is given that same choice and chooses the opposite. He wants his decisions made for him. He wants to remain inside the cage because it’s safer there.
Tumblr media
It’s not just that though - it also extends to how they treat other people. Shigaraki liberates those he interacts with. Twice, Himiko, Dabi, Magne, Spinner, Mr. Compress (whatever his issues are) are all given a place of belonging within the league.
However, Hawks will take away the freedom of other people too. He does so to Twice. He possibly did so to Best Jeanist. He pushes others to conformity, believing that is what saves them because it saved him.
Tumblr media
Utlimately what’s different about them is the choices they make despite their circumstances. Hawks was given a choice to be free. He’s given the oppurtunity to get better but doesn’t. Every time Shigaraki fails he learns from his lesson. Shigaraki is rising up, and Hawks is spiraling downward entirely because of the choices they made. Shigaraki has friends, Hawks has none. (Because he murdered the only real friend he did have).
That’s not to judge on whether they’re good or bad people. It’s just the direction their arcs are taking them. Shigaraki has always been on a self improvement kick, getting better with every failure. Hawks tragically is consumed by his failures and gets worse and worse, hence why there are so many references to Icarus in his character.
Tumblr media
It’s been built up for a long time now that Hawks is going to meet Shigaraki at some point. In fact his desire to meet Shigaraki is what caused the hero raid on the PLF in the first place.
Those two are destined to meet in a Javert / Jean Valjean fashion. However, the question is what will Shigaraki do now? Hawks is someone who at least had a chance of Shigaraki sympathizing with him before because Shiga takes in all kinds of strays. However, now with Hawks chosen action to kill Twice who genuinely sympathized with him - he must have murdered off any chance of that.
Either way the two have so much in common that they have to meet. At which point Hawks’ fate will be left in Shigaraki’s hands. It’s likely even if Hawks is to be saved, it will be Shigaraki’s job to do it, because Shigaraki is the character with the most in common with him.
Either way their meeting has been building for a long time, and when they do finally meet something will change about both of them. That’s how integral both of their parallel stories are about one another.

SO worried about taking up space headcanons
_________________________________
Request: how you think the boys (those two or, like, any of the bnha crew) would deal with a SO who was worried about the amount of space she takes up or felt like her size prevented her from being “cute” or otherwise attractive?
Characters: Yagi Toshinori, Todoroki Enji, Aizawa Shouta, Dabi, Nemuri Kayama
A/N: the request said the boys and I added ms. Midnight I’m sorry I could not stop myself you can ignore that if you’d like htsegrwefbdf
Warnings: Enji is well… Enji… and Dabi is Dabi…Dabi’s got nasty I’M SORRY
_________________________________
❣️Yagi Toshinori
Toshinori is probably the most sympathetic to your concerns. He feels too gangly and awkward when he’s not in his hero form. But even then, he feels uncomfortable in his own skin, even when he’s All Might. Yes, he’s large and heroic, but he also doesn’t quite feel like himself; he feels larger than life, unstoppable but at a price.
So he kind of understands how you feel, and it crushes him. He thinks you’re beautiful and he adores the ground you walk on, so the fact that you feel like your size prevents you from being cute breaks his heart
If you’ve had a particularly rough day, and you’re feeling not too great about yourself, he’ll draw you close to him in bed, and cup your face with his hands, letting his thumbs stroke your skin. Toshinori dips forward to rest his forehead against yours, and he’ll whisper the sweetest things to you. And it’s embarrassing, and part of you wants to pull away, but another part of you wants to keep listening. His warm hands hold you in place, forcing you to choose the latter
He wants you to be confident, to bloom into a self assured person and be comfortable with yourself. If he could kiss away all of your insecurities, he would. But maybe he can hold your hand, remind you that he loves everything about you, and maybe the two of you can grow together
❣️Todoroki Enji
Enji does not understand your concerns. He’s massive and bulky, taking up an absurdly large amount of space, which is a positive thing when you’re a pro hero. So he can’t relate to your concerns, but the first time you ever mention it, he pulls you into his lap and he litters the side of your neck with burning kisses. His hands squeeze your legs, and he murmurs, “so fucking pretty and cute,” against your skin. You see, Enji is rough and big and mean, so when you’re next to him he always thinks you’re cute and pretty and so sweet 🥰🥰
Enji also thinks of being tall as synonymous with power and strength, and he’s into it, regardless of whether or not you are actually strong. He wants you to take up space and be proud of who you are.
He’s never really soft, but he makes an effort to mention how cute and pretty you are. Granted with him it's primarily during sex, but he still makes the effort lmao
If one of your concerns is being clumsy, you do not need to worry about that with Enji. Like at all. It’s kind of fucked up, but whenever you miscalculate how much space you take up, and accidentally knock something over, he rolls his eyes, but deep down it makes his heart skip a beat cause he’s a weirdo. It makes his protective instincts come out. He would never tell you this, but he thinks it’s cute lmaooo Like if you’re awkward, he feels the need to swoop in and take care of you, despite his feigned reluctance. He just wants to take care of his baby, and make them feel cute and special, so can you really blame him??? 🥺🥺
❣️Aizawa Shouta
He’s not like Enji where he doesn’t understand, but Shouta is a little confused. He looks at you laughing at something on the TV, pouting when Yamada makes fun of you, or whimpering beneath him as your fingers tangle in the sheets, and how can he not think you’re cute?? You’re his whole entire world, his cute little kitten 🥺🥺
When he notices you shrinking in on yourself, wanting to be smaller, his eyebrows crease deeply, and frown fixes itself on his face. He wants you to be comfortable in your own skin and be able to walk down the street with your head held high.
He doesn’t think too highly of himself, but you? Holy fucking shit, you are the living embodiment of beauty to him, a sublime creature that he is lucky and honored to have in his life
He’s not always vocal with his thoughts, but he’ll do his best to reassure you. He’ll kiss up and down the length of your body, showing appreciation for every square inch. He loves you. He loves you. He loves you. He loves every inch of you.
He wants you to be comfortable with yourself, but he knows he can’t just force the insecurities away. So he’ll be by your side, reminding you of his devotion and admiration every day as long as you’ll have him
❣️Dabi
First and foremost, Dabi’s a fucking bitch lmao If you ever like tell him why you feel insecure and uncomfortable, he’ll just be like “Are you fucking stupid?” It makes you pause, and he’ll roll his eyes, before pushing back on the bed. He’s not great with words, but maybe he can fuck some common sense into you. At least that’s what he thinks. When you’re cumming so cutely under him, he’ll laugh and grip your thighs, all while cooing about how cute you are when you shudder in bliss
He knows it’s not a permanent fix and that he’s done nothing that will actually help you, but he’s not sure exactly what else to do. He knows he’s pissed, that much is certain. Not at you (never at you) but at the fact that you feel this way. He thinks you’re hot as fuck, and wants you to take up as much space as you can. This world is so fucked, but you’re not. The more space you take up the better in his mind.
Dabi will sometimes talk to you while you’re asleep. It highkey sucks cause that’s when he’s the sweetest. He’ll just murmur about the future and how pretty you look in the moonlight that’s streaming through the window. His fingers will trace invisible patterns along your thighs, and he watches the steady rise and fall of your chest, and all he really wants is for you to see how perfect you are too
You’re too good for him. He knows that, he really does. And he hates that this society makes you feel this way. In his mind, you’re so cute and innocent and the fact that you feel so insecure is a testament to how society is fucked. So he’s gotta make sure you stay with him. He’s gotta take care of you, and try to make it so you never feel that way again 🥺🥺
❣️Nemuri Kayama
Okay, Kayama thinks you’re so fucking hot. She wants to leave kisses and marks all along your body, but especially your legs. She loves how tall you are, and she truly dreams of having your legs wrapped around her head. She could get lost in you, and all the skin, all the curves and contours of your body
When she finds out you’re insecure about “taking up too much space” or “not being cute” she loses it. She makes sure to compliment you all the time, trying to remind you of how much she loves you and thinks you’re cute
Kayama will always be the big spoon!! She will die on this hill!! She’ll wrap her arms around you, pressing her chest against your back, and she’ll litter the back of your neck with kisses. She wants you to feel loved 🥺🥺
Kayama is also the type to show off all the time!! Regardless of the situation. She’s always like “Yamada, have you seen how good Y/N looks?” This happens A LOT at like hero events. She always shows you off and introduces you as her hot S/O who good be a model. You’ll get flustered as the continues to praise you, but the more you get embarrassed, the more she glows.
Kayama knows she’s hot, and she knows you’re hot, and cute, and beautiful, and everything good in this world rolled up into one person and she wants every fucking person on this planet to know it too

Long Night in the Valley chapter 14
“It’s Bakugo.”
“Old Bakugo,” said Todoroki.
“I don’t know,” said Uraraka. “He hasn’t sworn at us yet.”
“Wish fulfillment old Bakugo,” corrected Todoroki.
First contact, said two voices. Aizawa could recognize one as belonging to Two.
“Stop comparing me to the exploding brat,” snapped Two. He returned his attention to Midoriya. “I don’t agree with your philosophy,” he said. “But this isn’t the time or the place.”
Midoriya nodded even as he swayed in place, the edges of his body fuzzy.
“Your idea will work. Eight can take him.”
“What are you talking about?” asked Aizawa.
“Nine here just ran into that fire user.”
“Dabi,” supplied Midoriya, voice thin. “Thank you for letting me use your quirk, sensei.”
“Anytime,” said Aizawa.
“Is there anything we can do?” asked Uraraka.
“Stay back and don’t distract him,” said Two. “I’d send you on ahead to One, but I need to give him my power if he wants his ridiculous escape plan to work.” He crossed his arms. “Focus, Nine.”
.
The thing was, Dabi relied on his quirk to the exclusion of everything else. Which was fine. It was a powerful quirk, and his body really wasn’t up to quirkless fighting, seeing as it was literally stapled together.
But there was a reason he had not faced Aizawa himself in the training camp, but instead had delegated that task to one of Twice’s duplicates. No matter how much his quirk hurt him, no matter how much it reminded him of that man and that time, he did not fare well in fights without it.
Toshinori and Izuku had picked up on this, and, thanks to the joys of partial telepathy and haunted quirks, had managed to come up with a plan.
It was, if Izuku was being honest, a sort of terrible plan, but Izuku and Toshinori were both injured and exhausted, and it was the best they could come up with.
Izuku would hang back and cancel Dabi’s quirk, while Toshinori beat him to a pulp.
This division of labor was decided upon through the observation that Toshinori had much greater experience in beating people to pulp and that Izuku probably wouldn’t be able to focus on using Aizawa’s quirk and fighting at the same time. But Izuku worried. Toshinori had been under so much strain today. His body was in just as bad a shape as Dabi’s. If Izuku blinked.
So don’t blink.
What a comforting consensus from the peanut gallery in the back of his head.
Nana chuckled, but she sounded strained. Not much else we can do for you right now, kid.
.
Toshinori was prepared to fight dirty.
As a hero and Symbol of Peace, he was often faced with the expectation that his fights be clean, straightforward affairs. Usually, he complied with the expectation. Few people could match his strength. Few enemies stood up again or kept fighting after he knocked them back, once. For those enemies who could match him, relatively clean fights were often still the best option to defeat them.
But there had always been exceptions, All for One being chief among them.
Toshinori could fight dirty. It was a skill he knew better than to let lapse.
He knew how much old injuries could hurt, and he had no scruple against going after them. Any weak point was fair game.
(This wasn’t even beginning to mention the others, still whispering in the back of his mind, who had maintained the thin line between the light of hope and the darkness of despair for so many years.)
His fist impacted the line of Dabi’s medical staples. Toshinori felt them bite into his knuckles, felt Dabi’s skin tear around them.
The man – the boy, really, he couldn’t be more than a handful of years older than Izuku – reeled back, shaking his hands as if he couldn’t quite believe his quirk was gone. Then he looked up, at Izuku, and Toshinori could give him this, at least: He caught on fast.
He snapped an arm out, clotheslining Dabi before he could pass him and attack Izuku. Dabi hit the ground, and Toshinori tried to follow up his advantage with a sharp kick to the head.
But, even with as much experience as Toshinori had, Dabi was younger and sprier. He recovered quickly, retaliating with comparatively clumsy but strong fists.
Toshinori was very aware of the time limit he was on. How long had Izuku kept his eyes open already? Aizawa could only keep his version of the quirk going for a few minutes.
He knew when Izuku started to waver, the concern of the past users going clear and sharp in the back of his head.
Dabi’s hands burst into flame.
“Touya!”shouted Izuku.
The man whipped his head around, apparently forgetting that Toshinori was even there.
“We saw your hair dye, you drama queen!”
Toshinori grabbed the sides of Dabi’s head, and tried to slam it into his knee, but Dabi pulled free. They were both breathing heavily, now, but Izuku had his eyes back open and fixed on Dabi.
Toshinori doubted they’d be so lucky to distract Dabi again. The others slid into place in his mind, their experience neatly complimenting his own. They needed to finish it before Izuku had to blink again.
They raised their fists.
“Visit your mom, you loser!”
They closed in.
“At least tell the police what happened to you, so they can get your siblings out!”
.
So, it turned out Izuku did have something else to contribute to the fight.
.
“Please repeat what you told me earlier,” ordered the HPSC president.
The hapless liaison with the DNA testing center flinched, then hid the flinch behind a cough. “Well,” he said, “our technicians ran Midoriya’s DNA through a number of databases, and Midoriya is related to the Scourge of Kamino, but, uh, I think it best if I let her explain the rest.” He stepped out of view of the camera, the coward.
The technician waved at the camera. “Hi, uh. So, I guess the first weird thing about the sample you gave me was how contaminated it was. There were, like, almost a dozen different people’s worth of DNA in the sample you gave me, which… usually Hawks is better than that? But then I remembered the nomu DNA, and the Scourge’s DNA, so in retrospect… Anyway, I sort of ran them all through our databases—”
“Which databases?” interrupted Mr. Brave. “The commission ones, the police ones, the public ancestry ones?”
“All of them,” said the technician. “I ran them through the old ones, too, because the Scourge of Kamino is supposed to be over a hundred years old, isn’t he? I’m kind of surprised he wasn’t run through the old databases himself earlier. You could have closed dozens of cases.”
“Get on with it,” hissed the offscreen commission liaison.
“But I ran them through, and, uh, one was All Might.”
A whisper ran through the room. “He stole All Might’s quirk?” asked one hero, traumatized.
“I don’t know,” said the technician, nervously. “I mean, All Might was there, so it could have just been contaminated in the normal way, but… No, I’ll come back to All Might’s DNA in a bit. Then there were three other heroes’ DNA, Skyrunner, Fidelity, and Lariat.”
“We’ll have to assume he has their quirks, too,” said the commission president grimly, for the benefit of the assembled heroes. “Continue.”
“Another matched to the vigilante Forewarning. Then one matched to what was labeled as a 99% surety DNA sequence from Tempest.”
“My god,” said Mr. Brave.
“Then there were some sequences that matched to samples taken from the scenes of various crimes and terrorist actions but are otherwise unknown. That left two DNA samples that could be Midoriya’s assuming he isn’t over a hundred years old. They both matched as relatives to the Scourge of Kamino.”
“What kind of relatives?”
“Uh, one was rather distant, and was actually had the least DNA present out of all the other strands… The closest possible relation would be half-brother, although cousins might be possible… The other was a parent-child relationship, and the most present DNA sequence, so I would assume that one belonged to Midoriya. The thing is…” She trailed off.
“We don’t have all day.”
“The thing is, all of the different people I’ve mentioned also are related to the Scourge of Kamino.”
Silence.
“Excuse me,” said Mt. Lady, raising a hand. “Did you say all of them? Like, including—”
“Including All Might, yes, though he’s probably more like a great-grandson or something along those lines,” said the technician. “Once you get more than a generation or two, it’s hard to tell, because the ratios of what you get from grandparents aren’t even…”
“Do you have anything more to add?”
“Yeah. After running them through the databases… Well, there are dozens of active heroes that are at least loosely related to either them or the Scourge of Kamino, not to mention villains, common criminals, and civilians who had to register their DNA for one reason or another. And the ShiHi cell line? The one that replaced the HeLa line in almost every drug trial after the quirked population got majority status? That’s a perfect match.” She laughed, clearly on the edge of hysteria. “I mean, I don’t know what we expected. He’s over a century old, of course he’s going to have kids and family members. And he’s – And he’s clearly into shady medical research. Wouldn’t put it past him to have donated to sperm banks, the sick—”
The commission president muted the technician. “You see,” he told the heroes, “why we must act to contain and neutralize Midoriya Izuku as a threat as soon as possible. So many heroes being related to an archvillain like the Scourge of Kamino would damage confidence in the hero system, perhaps irreparably.”
“Are any of us-?”
“I don’t think that’s relevant right now, do you?” asked the commission president, smoothly. “What is relevant is ensuring that Midoriya’s DNA family tree never gets into public hands.” He fell quiet, scanning the heroes with dark eyes. “Regardless of whether or not any of you could find yourselves in it, the fact of the matter is that the ensuing investigations would lay bare other things you may not wish to come to light.” He cleared his throat. “Now, Hawks is putting together a team to track down the League of Villains. In light of recent revelations, we believe they have been working closely with Midoriya…”
.
“Maybe you can use my quirk,” said Shouto. “If you’re fighting Dabi, ice would be the perfect counter.”
Midoriya shook his head. “You’re not related. Can’t.”
“What?”
Two sighed. “The trick he did with your teacher’s quirk only works on people related to him.”
Shouto blinked, then turned to look at Aizawa. “Sensei—”
“Absolutely not,” said Iida, loudly.
“You don’t know what I was going to say,” protested Shouto.
“You can’t ask people if they have secret love children! It’s improper! Let us simply wait quietly like, ah, I’m not sure we caught your name earlier, sir.”
“No, you didn’t,” said Two.
“In any case, let us wait quietly,” said Iida, not one to be easily put out.
“I’m related to Midoriya?” asked Aizawa in tones approaching despair.
“You are,” said Two. “I think you’re related to one of my younger siblings, like Six is. Possibly to the Shimuras, as well, given the secondary portion of your quirk.”
“So,” said Shouto, the gears in his brain turning, “Midoriya is related to all of you?”
“Some more distantly than others, but, yes.”
“So, he based you off relatives and people he knew in real life.”
Two sighed heavily. “Look. That was obviously a lie. Six only bothered with it because of that government bastard that’s crawling around.”
Midoriya had been right. Shouto’s conspiracy theories could be used as an interrogation technique.
“Then what’s the truth?” asked Shouto. “Or are you just embarrassed, like Midoriya is about how All Might is clearly his father?”
Midoriya made a very distressed sound, and Shouto realized that maybe this wasn’t the time.
“You have no room to talk when the pyromaniac currently trying to roast Eight is your older brother, you peppermint styled weirdo.”
“You really are like Bakugo.”
“Do you have some sort of death wish?”
“C-can you guys not? This is hard…” said Midoriya. Then, he gasped and fell to his knees. “He got him. Oh, gosh.” He took a deep breath. “My eyes.”
“Luckily, you won’t need them for this,” said Two, kneeling in front of Midoriya. “In the movement, I was called Shadow Dragon. One came up with the name. He named my quirk, too. Perception Filter. Wanted to name it Chameleon Circuit for a while, but that made no sense. He was such a nerd. He’s still a nerd.”
“Yeah?” panted Midoriya. “Guess that… isn’t a surprise. He used old manga to support his arguments with—No, it doesn’t make it better that you only used that argument once. I mean, sure, I’d probably have made the same—”
“Focus, Nine,” said Two, snapping his fingers in front of Midoriya’s face.
Shouto stepped forward.
“It’s okay, Todoroki,” said Midoriya. “I’m just… How did it work? The Perception Filter?”
“No idea. We didn’t have fancy tests and doctors on hand to figure out the mechanics. But I can tell you what it did. When it first came in—” Midoriya nodded at this, as if he heard something in the sentence that Shouto was missing, “—I could disappear from the senses of one targeted person, along with anything I was carrying. Sight, hearing, smell – that last will be the important one for you.”
“Gigantomachia,” said Midoriya, nodding again.
“Exactly. Later, I was able to affect more people at a time, and my range grew. The fewer people I was hiding from, the farther I could reach, up to about a mile. Sometimes, I could draw attention towards myself, too, although I could never keep it up for long.”
“Activation?” asked Midoriya.
“Don’t think too hard about being hidden. You’re blending in. Part of the scenery. No ripples on the surface of the pond. A shadow inside a shadow.”
“Okay,” said Midoriya. “I think I’ve got it. Were you… were you ever able to hide other people with you? Otherwise…”
“Sometimes I thought I did. When Three and I worked together, we were always way luckier than we should have been, and there were some incidents with cars… But it never happened in a way I could test. Your best bet is just carrying Eight.”
“R-right. Okay. I’ll try that.”
.
“Izuku, you can barely open your eyes. Or stand up. You aren’t going to carry me.”
“But Two said—”
Toshinori frowned deeply and hoped Two got the message. “Just focus on yourself, right now, alright? Gigantomachia will be looking for you, first, not me.”
We’ve always been thankful Gigantomachia isn’t the brightest of All for One’s minions.
Even if he is one of the most annoying.
I don’t know if annoying is the word I’d use…
Toshinori blinked and shook his head. “You’re shaking,” he said.
“I’m okay,” said Izuku, trying to get up. “T’many quirks at once.”
Toshinori put his hands on Izuku’s shoulders, silently telling him to stay down. What a time to forget where he had packed the blankets… Although…
He looked back at where he’d propped Dabi, unconscious, up against a tree.
Dabi seemed to have a cold resistance vestigial mutation… although how Toshinori knew that was a mystery for another day (one probably connected with how One for All manifested in Izuku) and he was a fire quirk user. He didn’t really need that jacket. Besides, Toshinori was a villain now. Sort of. As he and Izuku had discussed earlier, villains were veritable bastions of pettiness.
He stole Dabi’s coat and wrapped it around Izuku’s shoulders.
.
Miles away, trying to coordinate heroes over a video call, Hawks lost contact with one of his feathers. Specifically, the one he’d hidden in Dabi’s coat. He did not frown, twitch, stutter, or otherwise falter. He did, however, curse internally, using words he suspected the hero commission would have like him to never have learned.
Dabi must have found the feather and destroyed it. Hawks had thought he’d hidden it better than that.
This was going to be a pain to explain.
.
Giagantomachia paused for a second, then, with a howl, redoubled his attacks.
“Can anyone tell what he’s screaming about?” demanded Tomura.
“No idea!” said Toga, her cheerfulness more than a little ragged.
“Hey, boss!” said Twice. “If I made a double of this guy, do you think they’d fight each other, or – Dear god, who in their right mind would want two of these things running around?”
“LITTLE LORD,” wailed Machia, “WHERE DID YOU GO?”
“Say, Shigaraki,” said Mr. Compress, narrowly dodging a boulder, “you don’t – ha – think he’s referring to the little green haired – er, white haired – oh, you know what I mean.”
Yeah, Tomura did, actually, which meant the brat (who might be Sensei’s brat – don’t think about it) was around here somewhere, and they’d missed him.
(Like everything else about this situation, Tomura had mixed feelings about this.)
“So, maybe, if the boy and the giant are acquainted, the mother—”
“Do all of you idiots have a death wish? You don’t fight two bosses at once unless you want to be pancaked.”
“I was thinking she could perhaps calm the giant—”
“Yeah, right before they team up to kill us. What part of this are you not getti-?”
Mr. Compress didn’t quite make the dodge and was catapulted into one of the few nearby trees that were still standing. As he lost consciousness, all of the various marbles in his pockets ballooned and broke, disgorging their contents. This meant that Tomura had to rescue Midoriya Inko from being crushed between an entire bus stop shelter (why, Compress, why?) and several logs, because if there was even a chance that she was Sensei’s wife, Tomura didn’t fancy his chances at staying alive if she was unalived in his general vicinity.
As Tomura was in no way a goody-two-shoes hero student, had never trained himself to safely save people, and had a quirk that literally destroyed everything his touched, this went far from perfectly.
At least Midoriya seemed unharmed.
“Ah,” she said. “My shirt.” She shifted slightly. “And my bra…”
There was a shout of utter rage from Gigantomachia, and Tomura contemplated just letting Machia kill him. Surely, being stomped flat by a man taller than most five story buildings would be less painful than whatever Sensei would come up with.
“Oh, my, Machia, is that you?” asked Midoriya Inko, quite calmly, as if she weren’t standing half naked in the middle of a battlefield in winter. “It’s been forever.”
“MRS. LORD!” shouted Machia, his eyes tearing up. “I AM SO SORRY! I LOST LITTLE LORD!”
“Oh, really? He was here, then?” Her eyes were glittering. “I’m sure he couldn’t have gone too far. If we walk around a bit, I’m sure he’ll hear us calling. In the meantime… perhaps you can explain to me what, exactly, you do for my husband? Your role in his business seems to have been downplayed.”
.
“Is that better?” asked Toshinori.
Izuku nodded tiredly. Despite Two’s instructions, he couldn’t keep up Perception Filter and, well, do anything else, really. Toshinori wasn’t much better. Izuku could tell, through One for All, that he was also on his last legs.
“Alright. Let’s keep going the way we were before,” said Toshinori, pulling Izuku up. “Got to get out of Gigantomachia’s range, so you can sleep.”
He did not say that reaching the Wild Wild Pussycats’ camp was now out of the question, with how beaten up they were. They’d be sleeping outside tonight. Hopefully they had enough clothes and blankets…
Izuku shuddered as the pounding sensation in his head increased.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine,” said Toshinori, guiding Izuku with a hand on his back. “Good, you have the briefcase, good.” Toshinori kept muttering encouragement. Izuku really wasn’t paying attention, which made him feel terrible, but he had to keep Perception Filter going. He had to keep going. Just a little bit more… Aizawa-sensei and his friends were almost to One. One would get them out before he broke through.
He just had to hold on until then.
.
Midoriya’s form flickered and then faded. Two sighed.
“Is he alright?” asked Aizawa. “Is he safe?”
“As safe as he and Eight can be, wandering through a forest filled with All for One’s minions while the government tries to track him down in the middle of winter,” replied Two. “Which isn’t very safe, speaking from experience. Come on, let’s go.” Two walked out the hole in the wall, not waiting to see if Aizawa or any of the kids followed.
“You’re calling Yagi Eight, now?” asked Aizawa.
“That’s his number, yeah. Hurry up.”
“Yagi, not Yagi’s… impression, his copy in Midoriya’s mind.” Two didn’t answer. “You aren’t impressions or copies at all, are you? You’re real people, somewhere, that Midoriya is connected to. Why pretend otherwise?”
“Some of the others thought Nine could fix things with the government, if they didn’t know what was really going on. Thought it would be ‘worth it.’ So stupid, after everything…” They walked through the compound gate and into a living room.
“It seems awfully contrived, though. Why try to be dead heroes? Why pick people like Skyrunner and Fidelity to impersonate?”
Two snorted. “They weren’t impersonating anyone. They really are Skyrunner and Fidelity. Except for Eight and Nine, we’re all dead, otherwise we would have finished this by now. Eight almost did, all on his own.”
They turned a corner. Two young children played in a bedroom while a teen watched on. One child was obviously a younger version of Two. That hair was distinctive. The other child had a short curtain of white hair. They had action figures they were playing with, although Aizawa didn’t recognize who they were of.
First contact, said a single, young voice.
The face of the teen leaning against the wall was scribbled out, as if with a marker.
“Don’t look too closely at that one,” said Two.
“Who is that?” asked Uraraka.
“All for One. I suppose you’d call him the Scourge of Kamino.”
“He’s your older brother?” asked Todoroki, his eyebrows raised into his hairline.
“Don’t be disgusting. Biologically speaking, he was my cousin.”
Oh, no, thought Aizawa, don’t tell me... “Is he the one you have locked away? The one you don’t count as being ‘among your number?’”
Two sighed again.
“Are you doing that instead of swearing?” asked Todoroki. “The sighing, I mean.”
“I told you to stop comparing me to the explosion brat! I—” Two tsked, then frowned. “Something’s not right.”
“What is it?”
“This isn’t a safe memory, just a quick one. One should have been here to pick you up by now.”
“What do you mean, it isn’t safe?” asked Iida, before Aizawa could. “No matter how immersed we are here, it is only a memory, isn’t it?”
“You did hear the part where he’s breaking in, didn’t you? And the part where we’re all real people? Are those glasses just for show?”
“The real All for One is trying to break into Midoriya’s mind,” said Aizawa.
“W-wait,” said Uraraka, “but… Izuku… That wouldn’t mean that the commission was right…”
“Of course not. Nine would probably cut off all his limbs before betraying his friends. Even if I don’t agree with him, and think he shouldn’t… I can still see that. But where is One?”
“Why are you telling us this?” asked Aizawa. “You’ve told us why the others didn’t. But you have no reason to say anything, yourself, do you?”
Two turned slightly, to gaze at Aizawa out of the corner of his eye.
“As long as we’re waiting, I might as well collect as much information as possible, right?”
“It’s insurance,” said Two, finally. “It’s hard to see how this will turn out. Eight wants to take Nine out of the country, but even if that works, All for One will still be here. Someone else needs at least part of the story.” He turned more fully to face Aizawa, lips pressed tight against his teeth. “You have to understand. I want Nine to… do well. I don’t want this on him. He’s a kid. So are you.” He looked at the students, then back at Aizawa. “You’re all kids. If I can get someone else to take care of this for him, while he and Eight are somewhere safe…”
“All for One is in Tartarus,” said Aizawa.
“You think something like that’s going to stop him? I’m not entirely sure death would stop him. It didn’t stop us, and he’s at least as stubborn.”
Well, wasn’t this an impossibly heavy weight to set on Aizawa’s shoulders.
“I have no sympathy, you lazy caterpillar lookalike. You’re an adult, aren’t you? Get help if you can’t do it yourself. If I find out you pushed it onto children, I’ll kill you.”
“Wow, he’s secretly soft, too, just like Bakugo,” said Todoroki. “Are you sure you’re not related.”
“There is legitimately something wrong with you. Do you—”
.
The hinges of the vault snapped, and the door crumpled outward. Another well-placed kick sent the door tumbling outward with a crash.
Shaking his hand, All for One stepped into the mindscape and smiled.
“Well,” he said, dragging his gaze over the assembled One for All users, his sworn enemies and the closest thing he had to family, “isn’t this a lovely little reunion?”

Okay so I love the Paranormal Liberation War arc, it does so much fantastic stuff, dang near perfect across the board. But I think it’s pretty widely felt that the pacing got a bit off the rails near the end, we had big reveals and character moments stacking up and half of them barely even felt relevant. And me being the person who just thinks about things in depth and for long periods, I’ve still been dwelling on it for months. And now as the manga has continued, I’m finally seeing how some of the aforementioned War moments could have been better executed in different situations, because honestly this latest arc seems like it would have been tailor-made to address them all. So lemme take a closer look at three different components here: Mirio/Eri, Bakugo, and Hawks.
1. Mirio and Eri
Tumblr media
Probably the most random moment from the war’s climax, don’t think anyone was predicting the sudden return of Mirio to battle. I love Mirio, he’s one of my favorite characters, but it was a pretty anticlimactic way to bring him back into the fold. He doesn’t even really bring anything special to the battle, nothing uniquely Mirio. His role is just backing up Best Jeanist against the Nomu, and anyone could have done that. Burnin could’ve arrived sooner, or Manual and Rock Lock could’ve come back after getting the injured heroes to safety. Heck, if you still wanted the Nighteye agency to be involved, then Bubble Girl and Centipeder could’ve been the cavalry to help Jeanist. But instead Mirio returns unexpectedly and none too remarkably.
And on top of that, we’re basically just told “oh by the way Eri has some control of her power now.” Something that the series had been building up toward for awhile just … occurs off-screen with no forewarning. Really feels like a disservice to Eri and her development to not give that intense moment any real spotlight.
Tumblr media
It felt extremely weird for me at the time, but I also kinda wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the coming arcs just couldn’t afford to place focus on Eri and Mirio, so their respective developments were tied together to lend an extra surprise to the war’s final bout. But instead this most recent arc has gone the opposite route … through the return of Chisaki.
The man once known as Overhaul, now thoroughly broken and wanting nothing more than to fix his one great regret. With Nagant’s defeat, he winds up back in custody, but having now once again met with Midoriya and made his wish known. So indeed, the opportunity arises for Eri and Mirio to be brought back to the forefront. I don’t doubt that we will indeed have at least a brief glimpse at Eri healing Chisaki’s boss as Midoriya promised, but the potential for that scene could really have been through the roof if it was the impetus for Eri to willingly use her power on a person for the first time.
Tumblr media
Imagine Midoriya coming to Eri with that heavy request, of Eri deciding to offer this kindness toward Chisaki of all people, using her power to heal before the man who always told her that she could only destroy. Because really, I don’t think there’d be a question of that, we know the kind of kid Eri is, and she won’t let anyone suffer if there’s any way she could prevent it. Even if Chisaki was the person asking, there might be hesitation and fear, but is there any doubt she’d offer what aid she could in the end? And for Pops to be the first person she helps, to undo the harm carelessly inflicted by Chisaki … well, it’d certainly be poetic.
As for Mirio in this scenario, that could go a couple ways. Route 1: Eri is hesitant to help Chisaki with Pops because she would rather help Mirio get his Quirk back, and we know that her power seems to have a bit of a limit on it via the energy stored in her horn. So what if it did work, but she ran out of juice healing Pops and then made Mirio wait even longer? Well, of course that’s exactly what he’d insist on, he wouldn’t let himself take priority over another person in need of Eri’s help. And he’d take it all in good spirits as always. Or Route 2, if there was concern that Eri’s power could run wild while trying to help Pops, then they could go the complete opposite direction and have Mirio offer to go first, to be the guinea pig for Eri in case of emergency. But of course, he’d have full faith in her all along and coax her through, ensuring her of just how helpful and brave she always is.
Tumblr media
So yes, can see how Eri and Mirio’s development could have taken a more satisfying route, and cap us off with some good ole Chisaki angst to boot (though at least we’ve still got a decent serving of that). Now moving on …
2. Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight
Tumblr media
So Bakugo’s long and arduous journey of personal growth reached a new peak during the battle with Shigaraki, where his body moved without thinking and he underwent his true heroic awakening to protect Midoriya. Such a sacrifice seems like a perfect cap for his development for the War arc … and then a couple chapters later he forces himself right back into action to back up Best Jeanist, and as promised he reveals his over-the-top hero name to his mentor. In this case I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with the reveal, but in light of his preceding big heroic action, it really feels like a hat on a hat.
It’s not like Bakugo’s hero name heralded some major turning point for the battle; Jeanist’s arrival (and subsequently Mirio’s) had already assured that. And like Mirio, there wasn’t any real special reason for Bakugo to rejoin the fight with the Nomu, especially with Iida and Hado on the scene. After getting skewered by Shigaraki, it would have been pretty simple for Bakugo to just spend the rest of the fight bleeding unconscious on the ground, rather than complicating matters by shoving him back into the fray. And ultimately, the moment feels a bit anticlimactic. All the suspense waiting for Bakugo’s hero name, and then it’s revealed at a time where he barely even has the spotlight.
Tumblr media
Of course, such a bombastic name as “Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight” doesn’t particularly lend itself to a quiet or emotional scene, so it wouldn’t be thematically fitting to move that revelation to Bakugo’s hospital bed or his somber apology to Midoriya. That said, given his decision to announce the name first to Jeanist, there would at least be precedent for him to have a “Dabi says secrets in a black speech bubble” moment in the hospital in which he talks to Jeanist but leaves the readers in the dark, before coming back to the actual audience reveal later on.
And there must certainly be other opportunities to present the name appropriately. Bakugo is a master of making an explosive entrance, after all. And when Class 1-A finally catches up to Midoriya, if Bakugo really wanted to make a big impact on his friend/rival before getting into the sentimental stuff, then it would be a prime chance to reveal his hero name in grandiose fashion, both to Midoriya and the audience.
Tumblr media
Or if his hero name had been Kacchan, then that reveal would have fit right in with his apology to Midoriya, but that’s neither here nor there
This could be one scenario, of course, but it hardly feels like that would’ve been the only option. And compared to the crammed-in reveal in the final fight with the League, it’s easy to say that there could have been plenty of smoother roads to take.  But setting that aside, moving onto the final touch:
3. Hawks
The long-awaited Hawks backstory doesn’t really disappoint. Admittedly, there weren’t really a lot of holes necessary to fill in there; we’d had enough bits and pieces provided before this point to pretty much put together the whole picture of his crummy childhood. But even without any really surprising turns, the flashback is welcome and hits some good emotional beats. But really, the glaring issue in this area is the timing.
Tumblr media
We’re presented this backstory at an instance where Hawks is hardly the most relevant character. Shigaraki is undergoing a personal crisis as All For One seizes the reigns of his own body, Endeavor’s dark history has been exposed and the Todoroki family is in turmoil, escapees from Tartarus roam the streets, and Midoriya consults internally with the vestiges of One For All ... and the narrative decides to take a chapter to look at Hawks. Practically nothing from his flashback directly relates to present events, serving only to further emphasize his already well-established devotion to Endeavor and his (misguided) understanding of Twice’s feelings. The timing is just kind of baffling, especially with some other more appropriate places being readily apparent.
For instance, only a dozen chapters later, we’re properly introduced to Lady Nagant. As Hawks’s predecessor within the Hero Commission, the two have a lot in common, and the similarities and differences between the two could set up some interesting comparisons if Hawks’s backstory was saved to follow up Nagant’s. Two idealistic young children, handpicked by the Commission and groomed into assassins, yet whose outlooks in the present day are starkly opposed? Nagant's guilt driving her to turn on the Commission, while Hawks holds few regrets despite the blood on his hands, longing for freedom from the Commission’s grasp? That kind of parallel could really have built a more solid foundation for Hawks’s past to be laid upon.
Tumblr media
That could be an effective setup, but there’s another approach I’d actually much rather have seen, one that brings Hawks’s backstory not later, but earlier: during the dramatic confrontation between Hawks and Dabi. The instant that Dabi reveals he knows Hawks’s real name, the story opens itself up perfectly to dive into his past. And the timing would be superb, showing Hawks at his worst as he murders Twice, then turning back the clock to look at the innocent child who just wants to save people. A little boy whose feathers tingle with the need to rescue those in need, superimposed against the man whose same feathers are used to deliver the killing blow to a victim of hero society’s ills. You want angst? Now that’s how you do angst. Placing the backstory there would play up the tragedy of both Hawks and Twice simultaneously: a “hero” raised by the Commission to cut threats to their control short at the root, and a “villain” who could have been a kindred spirit but instead suffers for their would-be friendship.
And that’s not even the icing on the cake. The real matter of interest here comes in Hawks’s view of Endeavor. By the time we get to Hawks’s backstory, all of Japan has already learned of Endeavor’s history from Dabi, and the result of the timing feels a smidge tone-deaf, and fails to realize the full potential resonance of the situation. The flashback to young Hawks as a victim of child abuse, who is rescued (unwittingly) when Endeavor arrests his father, is presented to us as the moment when Hawks realized that heroes are real, not merely a fantasy. We see why he developed such an ideal view of heroes, and why he is so specifically loyal to Endeavor ... so just imagine if all that was presented during his showdown with Dabi. Imagine if all that came before the tragic revelation of Toya Todoroki. The true terrible irony, that Hawks was rescued from his abusive father by someone secretly guilty of the same crimes, that Hawks’s whole epiphany of “real heroism” was founded upon one of the most corrupt enforcers of all.
Tumblr media
The end result would be the same, I’m sure. After all, this is certainly the same thought process Hawks was going through all along, and his decision to maintain his faith in Endeavor’s personal growth would presumably remain unchanged. But presenting Hawks’s backstory before Dabi’s would have opened up a lot more room for us as the audience to actually see Hawks’s views be challenged. If there’s one real complaint I’ve got about Hawks’s character, it’s that we don’t really tend to see him questioning himself or his actions; whatever happens, he rolls with it and presses on, no matter how his ideals are brought into question. But this simple matter of timing could go a long ways to remedying that, granting the audience the chance to watch Hawks grapple with his personal image of and approach to heroism, and his relationship with Endeavor, rather than allowing most of that to pass unseen in the wake of the war’s end. Even if he would ultimately come to the same conclusion, at least such a narrative structure would provide a much more satisfying presentation of his struggle up to that point.
So, I’m not great at endings, but that brings us to the conclusion of my rambling though process here. To recap, the more I’ve thought about it, the more obvious it is that the backloaded War arc could be remedied, and the following arc only made that more obvious. Why force Mirio’s return so soon when he could be tied in later with Eri mastering her powers and the desperate pleas of Chisaki? Why shove in Bakugo’s hero name when the boy has already made a tremendous impact on the arc, and will be more open to further focus during the conflict with Deku in the next? And why throw in Hawks’s backstory as a standalone chapter at a time when it’s largely irrelevant, when there was such great potential to emotionally contrast him with the backstory of Nagant or Dabi? These are the kinds of things I think about. Little things, really, and honestly the whole reason they stand out to me is just that the rest of the arc around them is so dang fantastic. So … yes. This is the testament to my love for this manga, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, byeeeeee

What things I have in common with Hawks, and why I kin him.
- Annoying
We both talk a lot, and we often possibly say too much. Keigo is often seen accidentally saying things that may be inappropriate for many settings. To be honest, I would talk a lot about how I love Hawks around him, just like how he talks a lot about how he loves Endeavor. Actually, I already talk WAY too much about my comfort characters.
- Sensory issues and anxiety
Hawks' wings are very sensitive, so he can hear (feel vibrations of) stuff well, collect information, and sense danger. This is probably more of a headcanon, but I think that Hawks would probably get overwhelmed if his wings started picking many things up at once. In real life, I've always been really uncomfortable around loud noises, such as clapping and cheering, and more recently, it's become crowds in general (partially due to the Coronavirus). Gradually, I've gotten more comfortable with clapping, but cheering is still a trigger for me. I also struggle with a specific trigger that I don't feel super comfortable talking about, because I feel like it's way less common. Me and my family believe that my triggers formed after being in a quiet hospital for so long, due to many birth defects. I think that Keigo would have similar, if not the same triggers as me, especially in settings that may bring up thoughts related to his parents.
- Scars and overall body image issues
Like I previously mentioned, I was born with many different birth defects, including having one hand. I had to have surgeries to fix most of these. These scars and having one hand have made me feel somewhat negatively about my body. After the war, we see Keigo left with burn scars on his face and neck from Dabi. We can also presume that his back has even more scarring, since his wings were Dabi's main target. Keigo is definitely saddened by the loss of his wings, and he feels like he's not the amazing Hawks anymore, now that he looks different. Despite this, he is continuing to fight with the other few remaining heroes. (I love him OML ❤️)
- Confused about who we really are or may be
Even before the loss of his wings, Keigo seemed to forget who he really is, ever since the HPSC stripped his legal name from him and named him Hawks. The HPSC has also forced him to abandon his past and live a fake "perfect" life, even though his past still is a burden to him. They also put him through so much work that he doesn't really get time to really care about himself. For me, I still don't fully know the answers to everything about me. I suspect that I may have autism because I get either overly excited, angry, or sad, and am very jumpy/fidgety. Also, I imagine my comfort characters are real, that I'm talking to them, and that I get REALLY strong connections to them that feel real.
I ship him with my OC Glitter Girl, who is based off me in real life the most.

(Please ignore me) So I had this dream a few weeks ago, and it’s been stuck in my head since then...
Very quick summary: Our world combines with MHA Universe, I become an Art/English teacher at UA (more of an assistant teacher for Present Mic), and I was reminded of how stubborn people can be. Also soulmates exist in this world for some reason...
So in the dream, both worlds were collided, and faster than you can blink, anything MHA related was whipped from the face of the earth, and while it took a while- everyone silently agreed to not speak of the fandom/content for a very long time. Which of course was very sad, but it is what it is. One of the more common trends that happened was that anyone from our world was as “Qurikless as it gets”. It also came to the attention of everyone in both worlds that while soulmate marks don’t exist in our world, apparently they did in the MHA world.
A few years later, I had become an established teacher, specifically due to the fact that many students seemed to be drawn to me, even if I hadn’t taught them at all. One day, I had gotten an email from someone in Japan, asking if I would be interested in a teaching for the future heroes of Japan at “U.A. High school”. While I was surprised, and thought it was BS (for obvious reason), I decided to respond for the fuck of it, YOLO.
But low and fucking behold, the email turned out to be legit. Principal Nezu and I started exchanging emails back and forth until plans were formed. I had become fluent in Japanese, got a house to call home where I could move in with my mom and sister (we are all very close). Eventually it was agreed that I would assist Hizashi Yamada with teaching English (grammar wise) but I was also going to be the art teachers. I the day came up when I went and met with Nezu and I vividly remember the ending question of the meeting.
Tumblr media
Incase you can see the image: (Nezu: Alright, so all the paperwork is filled out, I do need to ask this, since you’re quirkless and all... How will you defend your students?)
Tumblr media
(Me: Ah yes, I thought a good bit about this and I came up with some ideas!)
Tumblr media
(Me: I went ahead and got a permit to carry a specialized gun! The gun can shoot tranquilizer darts. The darts can stun most people for roughly one hour. Of course, I can understand if you or others dislike this idea so I also started taking Wing Chun class-)
Yes, I know conceal carry permits don’t really exist like they do in America but it was a dream ^^”
Tumblr media
(Nezu: Oh no, you’re fine, just make sure the students don’t see it!
Me: Wha- I mean, of course, but will the guardians of students be okay with this?
Nezu: Ignorance is bliss now have you thought about what your “quirk” should be? From what your references told me, I think “Mom” could be a good one!)
We had spoken about me faking a quirk to see how long it would take anyone (outside of the faculty of course) to notice that I was indeed quirkless.
Tumblr media
(Me: ...
Nezu: ... Do you not like “Mom”?)
This then led to us discussing what my “quirk” would be. We had agreed on calling it “Mom” and essentially allowed me to release a caring/nurturing aura that made most people feel drawn to me in the sense of seeing me as a “mother figure”. With it, the “quirk” it allowed me to be in tune with certain individuals that I grow close with and could vaguely sense if they were in great distress.
After this I was brought to the teacher’s lounge and introduced to all the other staff members. When the principal left, I sat and talked with the teachers of 1A, who eventually asked who came up with the fake “quirk” idea, and when I told them the reactions were defiantly mixed...
Tumblr media
(Aizawa: You... You’ve got to be kidding me!
Me: I wish I was...
Hizashi: OMFG! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! HAHAHAHAH-
Me: That makes three of us-
Toshinori : ...
Me: Four of us... ow my ears)
Not too long afterwards, I became an official member of the U.A. staff. Nothing too major happened for a few years had passed, and one winter morning I was getting ready for work when my sister came into my room to do something (idk what) but then asked when I got a tattoo on my back. Confused, I questioned what she was talking about, she took a picture and showed me the image. Sure enough; there was a blue flame on my left shoulder, a purple heart in on my spine, and a red wing on my right shoulder... defiantly looked like a tattoo!
Tumblr media
We did some quick research we learned that at the age of 16, people from the world of quirks would get their soulmate marks. However, all soulmates must reach the age of 16 before the other soulmates get their marks. Another thing we learned was that once the marks appeared, soulmates would be able to talk with each other via their minds. We also learned that it was becoming more and more common for people in our world to get soulmate marks!
With all this information, it started to get me worried. I was 22 (going based off the year), and if one of my soulmates just turned 16 then there was a bit of an age gap. Don’t get me wrong, it could’ve been bigger but it irked me a little. I also realized that the marks were sensitive to certain fabrics, so I had to quickly change the shirt I was wearing.
Soon enough I began to hear my soulmates’ voices, I had two, and they would “talk” often. Apparently they knew each other and already had an established relationship, so I kept quiet for a bit... until one of them made a bad joke that caused me to snort and respond to the terrible joke. Yeah, it freaked them out at first, but it got us talking, and we learned things about each other!
Eventually years flew by, I was an established teacher at UA and I had fallen into a routine. I knew who my soulmates were (Hawks and Dabi (incase it wasn’t painfully obvious)), they didn’t hide their identities very well, and I had somehow managed to keep my identity mostly under wraps (idk how (I’m very talkative) but they always asked questions about me). They would constantly pester me so that they could know more about me, and I would just... keep quiet.
At one point, I had stated that it would probably be better if the two forget about me, saying that I was shoe horned into their relationship because of the worlds colliding. If it hadn’t my mark wouldn’t be on their backs, so I got some medication that would help remove myself from their relationship. It started working, after roughly a year or so (at least going based on the calendars nearby) their marks and voices were starting to fade.
During the year of me teaching class 1A (and protecting my students from various villian attacks) I eventually met them in person (begrudgingly). Thankfully they didn’t seem to recognize my voice, however I did get the idea that could sense something was off cause I noticed they would be nearby. So I got in contact with a close friend of my and called in a favor. We went to school together and were constantly mistaken for couples because I was very affectionate while he would throw hands with someone if they got too close for his liking. So I asked if he would join me for a “date” so that some people would potentially get a hint and leave me alone.
He agreed and came to Japan and we went to the U.A.’s school festival together, we even went the extra mile and got matching fake tattoos so they would act as our “soulmate marks”. Surprisingly it worked- when the students asked who he was I stated he was my date (which wasn’t a lie). Eventually, I had stepped away to go get us something to drink, but when I had returned I saw he was being confronted by two people.
I sighed trying to think of what I could do before getting and idea. I had begun to shake the two soda cans before walking up to the two individuals and getting their attention, once they turned to me, I opened the cans and sprayed it in their faces. They stumbled back in response, obviously caught off guard, I stated that they need to cool down and began to walk away with my friend in tow. I got us something else to drink, and we continued on with the festival.
We enjoyed the rest of the festival and waited to see Eri and Aizawa off, before we left, we were approached by some of my students who wanted to know my relationship with my friends. We looked around, making sure that we were in the clear before confessing that we were just friends. That this was all just a ploy to get some people of my back and to hopefully stop pestering me. We even showed that the tattoos we were wearing were fake, everyone seemed to understand and agreed to keep it under wraps.
Thankfully things seemed to flow smoothly from there on, nothing to crazy happened. However, one day I was doing some training and decided to take a break. I was wearing a simple tanktop and sweats, which wasn’t too bad, since the soulmate mark was almost completely faded at this point, it would take a keen eye to see the remains of the “tattoo”. I was lost in my own world when two soda cans were dropped into my lap, two voice stated that I looked like I needed to cool down.
I had frozen up and slowly looked up to see that both Hawks and Dabi were standing behind me, I gave a weak smile with an equally nervously chuckle. I quickly got up to get away from them, but I was grabbed just as quickly, and thrown to the grown with them still standing over me. I sighed and chuckled once again and held my hands up by head.
The last thing I remember was me saying, “Alright, alright, you caught me, but the mark is almost gone so if you two just waited a little bit longer, you wouldn’t have me as a soulmate anymore. So why on Earth are you two still chasing me?”
Dabi smirked, “Probably cause we wanted you to be our soulmate! Fucking idiot- If you thought we were just going to leave you alone after you stated that we would be better off without you then we have some serious problems.”
Hawks chuckled, “Yeah, but don’t worry, we figured out a way to fix this, it just requires a lot of lovin from us! We gotta get that mark bright and vivid again!”
AND THEN I WOKE UP!

about all your recent posts for fuyumi i can understand how she feels & the constant fear & anxiety she has. to have incompatible parents & your the eldest so it's always a small trigger could make everything fall apart & your trying your best to keep everything together. you over analyze everything action and word to know if things are still okay or is something going to happen? to want everyone and everything to be fine. the amount of responsibility (1/2)
and sometimes you do want to just crash but you physically can't because it's how you've trained your mind to be always 'breath ur fine breath it's okay breath & get up & fix things it'll get better one day. maybe' you wish you had someone who could take off the weight for just a little bit but what if they don't do it right, what if that means i'm getting weak what if what if what if and it is just a nightmare (2/2)
Also because fuyumi's situation reminds me of mine, you feel terrified of romance and don't believe it actually exists, you have the fear of this repeating but with your own family and you dont want your kids to go through the same thing. Also you've never been responsible for only yourself so you're wondering if you ever will figure out who "you" are really. There's so much of yourself defined by the situation you are in that if it's gone, you don't know who you are (3/2 😭😭)
i’m incoherent bc i just got outta class but yes to pretty much all of this. and also, my friend, me too ! fuyumi is a HUGE comfort character of mine because i relate to her so much for the same reasons - and now i wanna go bit by bit n talk about all the stuff you mentioned because i’ve mentioned it in pieces on this blog but never in full and i just go crazy thinking about her.
trigger warnings for child abuse, death, and just. general unpleasantness.
first of all in all honesty, there’s really no situation in which endeavor could ever be compatible ( which isn’t a jab at you - just want it to be clear that this is beyond parents that don’t get along ! ). he’s straight up abusive and drove his wife to a complete mental break, as well as, as i’ve said before, y’know. beating the shit out of his kids. i wanna also clarify some things on the timeline before i get started ( i’m not sure if you’ve watched/read bnha, but also this is for my mutuals that haven’t ) - fuyumi is now the eldest living. the todorokis had four kids: touya, the firstborn, then fuyumi, then natsuo, and then shouto. and i want to follow that by linking you to this page, where we find out that..... touya died AFTER rei’s breakdown and subsequent hospitalization.
AFTER.
i honestly don’t know the timeline of touya and shouto’s training.... bc in this panel we see that baby touya didn’t have any burn marks, no bandages, he was fully capable of playing and running around. i also think if he would have been trained the same way shouto was, rei’s break would’ve come a lot sooner, and we wouldn’t have panels like this - i think before shouto, while the todoroki family was incredibly dysfunctional, they still had some semblance of a normal family, and that’s why fuyumi is so desperate to try to have a family again; because she knows and has seen that they were a family, or at least were in her understanding as a child. this seems particularly reinforced for me because natsuo, in the light novel, talks about how he always wanted endeavor’s attention as a kid! he thought it was unfair that shouto was the one who was getting it all, so it implies to me that.... one, they had no idea at first, and two, they had to have had at least a decent relationship with him before.
so i think what happened was.... after shouto’s quirk manifested, endeavor began to change. he started training shouto because he developed the quirk he wanted, all that stuff we already know, and the stress of it all drove rei into pouring the boiling water on shouto, and then we know she was put into psychiatric care. fuyumi was 12.
rei leaving was, obviously, hard on all of them. i think fuyumi was the most disconnected from her mother, because rei saw so much of herself in fuyumi and couldn’t stand it at times. natsuo in the light novel also mentioned he didn’t mind the lack of attention because he had his mom! so it hurt fuyumi, a lot, but she was able to be strong for them because a) she was older and b) she and her mother had a strained relationship anyway.
i headcanon fuyumi was the one who found rei and shouto. she heard the kettle whistle, the screaming and crying from the kitchen, and when she rounded the corner she saw her mother and shouto on the floor as we’ve seen in canon. it was incredibly scarring. fuyumi gets frequent flashbacks and invasive imagery from this event, especially when she hears that kettle whistle / sees her brothers in the kitchen. i’ve said it over and over but she hates them being there, shouto in particular - and i think this is backed up in the light novel when she immediately makes the boys leave the kitchen after shouto tries to come in and help.
i also think endeavor thought shouto was ruined after that. his “masterpiece” was ruined because there was a very strong possibility he’d never recover from that injury, and so endeavor, in desperation, turned to his first-born son as a replacement. his wife definitely wasn’t going to be giving him any more kids, and shouto as far as he knew was out of commission. fuyumi had an ice quirk and natsuo was practically quirkless, if not ENTIRELY quirkless. but touya.... had his flames. i don’t think endeavor initially wanted to train him because he wasn’t the perfect combination that he kept trying for with rei - but here, he’d reached his own breaking point, and touya was the only option left to continue his legacy.
but it’s implied endeavor pushed too hard, or was somehow directly involved in touya’s “death.” i put this in quotes because y’know, dabi is a todoroki theory. and this obviously just made things worse. i’m linking to this page again because it says that rei got worse, too, so much so that she couldn’t see shouto anymore - but it also implies to me that natsuo and fuyumi would still visit. but anyway ! touya dies, rei gets worse, and surely soon after endeavor finds out that shouto, while he’d have that scar on his face, would recover... and still be able to be trained.
so ummm.... now i can talk about fuyumi. all that and we’re JUST getting to her.
i’m kind of starting from the last ask here, but you’re entirely right - since the age of 13, fuyumi has never been able to define herself. from here on, she was entirely shaped by her trauma, and by roles she was never supposed to have fulfilled - i.e., motherhood. as a reminder, shouto was 5-6, natsuo was 9-10, and fuyumi, at age 13-14, truly began to step in rei’s place. so fuyumi starts taking care of the two of them while touya was the one who became isolated while he was trained. and like i said in a couple other posts, her brothers rejected her mothering them at first - i.e. natsuo lashing out and saying she’s NOT their mother and shouldn’t act like it, and shouto begging for their mom all the time and not understanding where she went. fuyumi barely had her own time to process what was happening and process the loss of her mother.
and then touya died. fuyumi probably feels partially responsible for his death, too, in the same way she and natsuo have said felt responsible for not helping shouto - she often thinks she could’ve done or said something to prevent that, too. and as you said, she overanalyzes everything and she’s incredibly hypervigilant to her father’s moods, because his satisfaction is, essentially, paramount to survival. touya died because he couldn’t meet her father’s standards, or maybe because he made endeavor angry, or whatever the case.
and you’re also right about the fact that she has no one to share the burden with - or, at the very least, feels like it. the one time natsuo tried to make it easier on her by cooking dinner, their father forbade him from never doing it again. i can only imagine what this fight looked like, and how scared fuyumi was of something so small turning into something irreparable. fuyumi says on this page they “take turns”, but i only think it ever happens when endeavor’s not home.
not to mention, as a defense and coping mechanism, became the image of a perfect mother to her brothers, and a perfect daughter to her father. always putting the boys first - i headcanon when either of them were sick, fuyumi would stay home from school to take care of them. always making sure her father was pleased and mediating between him and the boys. she developed this personality that consists of nothing but love and gentleness and understanding. i talked about this in my post about her and complex ptsd, but i’ll add the relevant excerpt here, too:
it’s also very common for these survivors to re-experience emotions from trauma intrusively - particularly when triggered. these feelings are often disproportionate to the present situation, but are equal to the intensity of what was required of them at the time of a trauma – also known as an emotional flashback.
fuyumi’s trauma has always put her in situations where she plays the peacemaker, the level head, the kind and gentle and understanding one. and because fuyumi is CONSTANTLY re-traumatized and exposed to her triggers because that entire house is one, it’s become her entire personality.
so fuyumi doesn’t really get to discover herself, at all, outside her trauma. her live revolves entirely around her brothers and her father. i think this also contributes to her desperation to repair her family now, because.... she doesn’t know what else is beyond that.
she’s stuck here. she can’t heal or move on right now.
fuyumi is a busybody because she KNOWS if she ever stops moving, she’ll crash, as you said. and it happens on occasion - but always behind closed doors. she has these.... quiet breaks, before she’s “fine” and moving on the next day. shouto and natsuo have never seen this side of her. she keeps this perfect facade of being put together tight under wraps.
i think the last thing to address with this ask is the aspect of romance and family - and once again, my dear friend, you’ve hit the nail on the head ! to start, fuyumi is deeply afraid of romance. she’s in love with the idea of it, as we can tell from her obsession with soap operas and trashy novels, but in reality it takes a long, long time for fuyumi to ever feel comfortable enough to define or initiate things between herself and someone else. it’s why she’s also always involved in people who are very straightforward, who won’t keep secrets from her, because she needs clarity in a relationship always. not to even mention a family of her own - fuyumi is so terrified of becoming her mother. even now, it’s why she refuses to let her brothers in the kitchen with her - because she knows how alike they are.
what’s really incredible to me is that despite all of that, fuyumi’s love and optimism and empathy and all that kindness and gentleness for the world is still very real and true. you can see it in the way she smiles, it’s in the way she sees the little things in people and remembers them, it’s in the unconditional love and understanding she gives to her friends and partners, the care she takes in tending to the family garden, the attention to her students - she truly embodies the good of humanity, the good of people - an aspect of her character that i love is how entirely mundane she is, and yet... she’s so, so special. her path to healing will always begin with forgiveness (though once she’s able to get away from endeavor, she’ll never be around him again), because she’s not a person that can live with anger in her heart, and i will always love how that’s presented as an entirely valid thing to do.
as a final addendum to this post, nearly no one knows about any of that. fuyumi won’t talk about it unless it’s entirely unavoidable, and even then she tries to make excuses and dance around it. like.... she stops up, she can’t speak. she freezes and completely stops functioning. ironic considering how openly her brothers will talk about it.
so anyways. i don’t think you expected this long winded answer, but i couldn’t help myself. thanks for sending this in !
