It came to me in a dream- Mat is going to meet Tuon earlier & rescue her from something, disguised as a Seanchan officer, in season 3 or 4 of the show. Also Selucia will be killed off super early to fix the power leveling? That’s what the magazine article I was reading in my dream implied.
This revelation was accompanied by the figure in my dreams that means I’m struggling with/worried about publically committing to a project or course of action. This is either a me problem (probably, my personal patron saint of non-commitment often appears in my stress dreams & my WoT dreams) or it modifies the prophetic vision I received about the show.

I love thinking about the concept of Nations (as seen in Hetalia) and thinking about how they would actually work in an alternate real-world reality, and a lot of the time I tend to disagree with what we've seen from Himaruya's canon.
I like to think that there are actually different kinds of Nations - those that are a combination of land, history, and culture, and those that are a combination of history and culture. The former won't fade even if their people stop becoming 'part' of them, and this is what I think happens to Prussia. Rome, Ancient Greece and Brittania were the latter type, and faded when their people did.
What the two types of Nations have in common is that they have deep care for those living on their land. This is why I don't think it would work to have Nations working with the government.
I do think older Nations would have made this mistake, but they would have quickly realised that ruling over the people =/= caring for the people. (The French Revolution's bloodiness being France's way of wiping his existence from the minds of an entire line.)
Different countries definitely have different stories, but by "modern" times, the only country who has any ties to their government is England.
Each country 'helps' their people in different ways, separately from the government, and despite all of them having different levels of closeness with other nations (that don't have much to do with politics), they tend to take their work of protecting the land and people seriously.
Their 'world meetings' are not government sanctioned, they don't have bosses - it's all just meetings of how they can effectively work both separately and together to keep their people and the lands safe.
Nations are protectors, guardians, and historical observers, but it is always humans who precipitate events.

the way this fandom treats characters is astounding. like y’all do realize that every single character is shitty, right? literally every last one. your blorbo is not an exception. no, “but my fave—” no exceptions. literally the only character that i can’t think of any issues with off the top of my head is farah.
#call of duty#cod#obviously some characters are worse than others#i think we can all hold hands and agree that makarov takes the ‘most evil character’ cake#and lots of people acknowledge graves’ actions#and i’ve even seen people bring up valeria’s actions#but the way y’all (general) just. pick and choose who to criticize#it’s important to acknowledge and discuss the flaws these characters have#and i think it’s important to allow people to explore problematic characters#but if you’re gonna do that— acknowledge EVERYONE’S flaws#price nikolai and gaz literally kidnapped a civilian woman and child. used them as ‘bargaining chips’. held a gun to a little boy’s head#soap & ghost may not have any highlights (that i can recall) but they’re SAS.#the military– especially the specops– are not known for being above board and clean#price’s catchphrase is literally ‘we get dirty world stays clean’#this cast is full of fuckin war criminals. they’re ALL shitty.#obviously some are worse than others (motioning to makarov valeria & graves)#but acting like the ‘good’ characters are unproblematic is harmful imo. there are real people that have been victimized by the military#–including the SAS. your blorbos are in an organization that devastates entire countries with war#i guess i’m sick of seeing people’s obvious favoritism in this fandom.#y’all (general) love to discuss shitty behavior and read-world equivalents until it involves your faves#and i’m not saying this to tell people to stop writing for everyone. i personally dislike the ‘don’t write for problematic charas’ mindset#but hold every single character to that standard for the love of god#and ‼️be mindful while writing/discussing potentially harmful stuff‼️#be sensitive to the groups that might be seeing this. remember that COD is a war game that romanticizes the military and war#with the sole intent of getting people to join#no one is perfect. they’re ALL shitty people. some are worse than others– but they ALL represent real-world issues#the ‘only enjoy unflawed characters’ mindset links back to purity culture and media literacy dying#seeing people expect an imperfect media to have a perfect fandom is draining#the community needs to be a safe space for everyone. but groups will inevitably clash and that’s why we have the block button and filtering#just like. don’t disrespect people. be mindful with your work. but also— BE LIBERAL with catering your fandom space!

My Two Cents on the Joker: My Love/Hate relationship with the Clown Prince of Crime
I think something we tend to forget in fandom is that you can like or dislike a character without liking or disliking everything about them. Before anything else said, I want to make this clear as crystal. This is my opinion. I am not saying it is right or that you have to agree. No one has to agree with me. All I ask is that you hear me out, acknowledge my opinion, and if you don't like it, agree to disagree. I fully respect the opinions of those who dislike/hate this character. Okay, let's talk about this frikkin' clown.
Tumblr media
It is absolutely no surprise, to me or to anyone, that a lot of people LOATHE the Joker. And with good reason. He is a monster. In nearly every continuity he's in, he's done terrible things. He killed Jason Todd, paralyzed Barbara Gordon, abused and manipulated Harley, tormented and experimented on Tim Drake, turned Superman into a dictator, the list goes on. I understand why people hate him. Their reasons are valid, especially if they relate to his victims.
I myself have a love/hate relationship with the Joker.
Here's what I love about the Joker:
I love that he's Batman's opposite, a bright, loud, colorful clown.
I love that when written right, he can be scary AND funny.
I love his overall classic design. Purple suit, bow-tie, green hair, red lips, etc.
I love that he's deadly, as any Batman villain ought to be.
I love his genius-level intellect. Though, arguably, all the great Batman villains have that.
I love his weapons. Joker venom, acid-squirting flowers, ninja-star playing cards, etc.
I love the whole "Joker card as a calling card" shtick. To me, that never gets old.
I love how ruthless he is. Some of the best villains are ruthless.
I love his whole "agent of chaos" shtick.
I love the idea that he's a deadly maniac hiding behind the humorous image of a clown.
I love the fact that he's anti-nazi. Good to see he has some sort of standards, at least in one or two continuities.
I love his obsession with Batman and their rivalry.
Now here's what I hate about the Joker.
I hate that he has zero respect for anyone other than himself, or even if he does respect them, it's only as a means to an end. At the very least, he ought to have more respect for his allies.
I hate how he serves as a bad representation of mental health. I will not sugarcoat it or give it a pass. I have my own share of mental illnesses, so him serving as an example of the mentally ill? Terrible.
I hate the whole "Life's a Joke and only I know the punchline" shtick.
I hate the way he treated Harley. It was wrong then and it's wrong now. There's no hiding it, or excusing it.
I hate the growing amount of "edginess" the character has been given. He's a clown villain. At least half of his crimes should be nonsensical fun.
I hate how he treats the younger members of the Bat-Family. I know they're his enemies, but still.
I will never condone the Joker's actions, nor the actions of any villain. And again, I fully understand and acknowledge that my enjoyment of the Joker as a villain is unpopular. But I feel like I should be honest. At the end of the day, the Joker is one of my favorite villains. Do I like everything about him? No. But I don't have to.

it kills me that so many people portray diluc as indiscriminately cruel. he may be cold, and even curt at times, but he’s genuinely a gentleman and it’s so obvious in his voicelines that he cares about others.

This is so dated i know but Carol being the one to say "Terga and I will wash-- but you two will dry!" is so important to me actually. I'm also cracking up that Tom says getting married will solve his problem but he wants to marry Carol which Tom is fully aware of and somehow, I just can't imagine Carol would "darn and sew" for him lmao

Sorry if this a annoying, but it is a thought I want to know if you have considered.
Do you think that a fem BB would kill using poison, or a bit more passive aggressively, will find 'friends' and 'decoys' to pin the murder of the people she has taken life from, will as well put on a disorganised mask of normalcy. Will forge fake evidence and might target the women around her a bit more because they are 'easier' targets. Emotional manipulation and distortion would be what she weaponises a lot.
Do I think fem!BB:
Would kill using poison: possibly, since canon BB experimented with his murders a lot. I think he always tried something different each time, almost in a scientific experiment sort of way. Or kill a bit more passive aggressively: B is probably THE most passive aggressive character in the entire series, I would say? Almost everything B does is extremely indirectly antagonizing. Which is a funny combination with how unsubtle and campy and over-the-top flamboyant B also is... Will find "friends" and "decoys" to pin the murders on: I certainly can imagine fem!BB making fake friends that she plans on maybe using in the murders somehow, but maybe more so for victims than for people to pin the crimes on? A huge part of B's character is that B REALLY wants attention and to be noticed in a personal way, not to escape being noticed altogether. If B DID pin the murders on other people, I think it would still just be another step in the game that the investigator would find to be just another clue or a red herring/misdirection that would continue to somehow lead them to finding B. Will put on a disorganized mask of normalcy: Disorganized for sure, I think this is probably B's attachment style in the "attachment style" theory. B was actually trying to appear abnormal in canon a lot of the time, but was also apparently able to trick people into trusting him with things like investigating their child's murder. I think B is a pretty good chameleon who likes to prey on emotionally vulnerable and easily targeted people most of all, and maybe way more socially adept than he appeared to be when posing as L. Will forge fake evidence: Depends on if it will lead the investigation back to B or not, because I think being personally noticed and getting more recognition and attention is always kind of B's goal (positive and negative attention both seem to be enjoyable to B)... Will target the women around her a bit more because they are "easier" targets to emotionally manipulate: Definitely would target people's weaknesses and prey on their emotional vulnerabilities a lot, and I could see her focusing more on women for some reason if she had some sort of notion that it would be easier to do that than to target men. Guilt-tripping and throwing herself big pity parties and frequently lying and violating social norms and boundaries would be extremely common emotionally manipulative things for B to do.

Is Berserk actually good or is it more like catered to your specific tastes? The art is really pretty lol
omg that’s actually a tough question. I think it depends highly on like individual tolerance for grimdark content and its variety of flaws? because Bersek, imo, is very deeply flawed. but the core story is legitimately good. idk how familiar you are with it’s reputation or what you’ve gathered from what I’ve mentioned offhandedly but this is a series notorious for being very dark and unpleasant. and it just depends on like. where the line is for you.
the other issue is that it’s not very accessible? the manga is still ongoing and hasn’t wrapped up any of the main conflict since it started in the 80s. the mangaka died last year I think? or the year before?and now his close friend who claims he told him the entire plot has taken over. it’s in hardcore uncharted waters wrt where it’s going and the quality of the wrap up.
meanwhile there have been 2.5 anime adaptations all of the exact same arc. and that arc itself wraps nothing up lmao.
the way the manga works, you’re introduced to the protagonist Guts who’s this really bitter jaded person who has some sort of curse and is being hunted by malevolent creatures who in turn destroy the lives of anyone who help him or who he might even momentarily get close to. and we learn that he has a very bitter nemesis in Griffith. and the set up is just very traditional grimdark fantasy. very gross on purpose etc. then eventually we get the golden age arc, which is an origin story of how Guts came to be cursed and what the source of his animosity with Griffith is. it literally ends with disaster and everything going to hell. there’s no sense of conclusion there because it’s not meant to be conclusive. but that also happens to be the only arc animated!
there was technically one 2017 anime adaptation that attempts to pick up where the golden age arc left off but it’s literally unwatchable. we don’t talk about Berserk 2017.
anyway but yeah that means if you get into it and want to know what happens, that only leaves the manga.
but circling back to discussion of content, on the one hand Berserk is *about* trauma. but on the other it’s also very bad about trauma! it’s also very bad about how it treats SA. which. there is a lot of. the mangaka got better about it over the years but it’s literally just like what is your tolerance. what are you willing to put up with for the sake of a story. and whether that story ends up appealing to you.
I think of all ways to get into it the 1997 anime is definitely the best. it’s simply not as graphic because of mainstream 90s studio standards and also the other adaptations leave out really fucking important character moments. and it makes me mad lol. it’s also just prettier imo.
and past that point it’s down to whether you like care enough about how things go down after to read the manga.
there’s also currently a remastered/expanded version of another golden age arc adaptation being serialized (hence there being 2.5 adaptations) and there’s some sort of countdown going on there site for December that some people have been theorizing means a new anime might be coming out? so idk maybe there will be news there.
so idk! I don’t think I can personally guess how much you would like the story vs your tolerance for its bullshit to recommend it or suggest you don’t watch it. like, I would have outright just recced the 97 anime to you but uh yeah the issue is ending and how it kind of feels like there isn’t one 😂
anyway I would personally call the larger story good based on how I weigh its flaws and merits. and I think that’s true for a lot of people who are into it, and it’s been incredibly influential. it’s definitely an acclaimed series? but I think it’s also very possible to weigh those pros and cons differently and a lot of people do! it just really depends on where you personally draw the line.
