Ik you’ve mentioned Suns works(worked? 👀) on the Void Fluid Project, but do you have any ideas on what the other local group members jobs or duties would be in the city?

Moon herself organizes the city as a whole, trying to contact iterators who may need help getting to the city- so she works closely with Wind and Sigs trying to help others- hopefully over time it'll become easier.

Mini Dialogue Prompts
(Because they are too short for their own posts🙂)
"What? Did you expect something to happen between us?"
"In your dreams"
"Oh, trust me, you'll be there"
"Is their anything else I wanna do? Well, you've been at the top of that list for some time"
"Maybe next time you'll get the hint and kiss me properly"
"How come you never told me he was so hot under that mask?"

Great Kettering; land of Artistry and Pride
south-east corner of the continent, primarily orc citizens
Tumblr media
discofairy on Unsplash.
Society:
The social structure mostly mimics the classes of England in the late middle ages. Outsiders will call GK citizens / most orcs spies and eccentric artists, mostly vulgar and sarcastic, although others say they are teachers and healers, genuine and hardworking. GK calls themselves a sturdy and creative nation. The most attractive qualities for GK is dedicated, homely people willing to 'think outside the box', and physically, being neatly groomed and covered in tattoos is beloved. Higher class citizens like to think that respect is universal, they give it freely and expect it in return just as freely. Although that outward respect often turns into whispers and rumours behind closed doors. Orcs born outside GK, other races born within GK, immigrants, even just younger GK orcs will be written off as 'not getting it like we do' or 'trying to hard to fit in'. The need to improve in your skills, whatever they may be, is expected tenfold in these people as well. This mentality will have lots of orcs ultimately staying in / settling down in GK, whilst younger citizens will travel to learn and hone their crafts before returning to their true home. Tattoos are incredibly meaningful for orcs as they show social status, heritage, and personal challenges*. Lacking tattoos makes you too young, immature, or somehow 'lacking character' enough to hinder your tattoo journey. However, for children this is rectified with makeup, as it is considered to be the 'practice tattoo' to mimic their parents patterns, therefore using it as adult can be seen as immature or being so unskilled you have nothing to mark yourself with. Perfume is for lower/middle class citizens as they 'have something to hide' or are not nearly as groomed as the higher class. Jewelry and piercings are a highly sort after accessory in GK, the more gemstones the richer you are to spend so much on something so 'useless'. Especially as they are made to mimic an orcs tattoos.
*to learn more in depth, read about maori tattoo practices in New Zealand
Professions:
Most lower/middle class people teach their children the trade of the family and that's the best they will get. With more money and influence comes more opportunities and these children can go into areas that their parents send them to. The royal family gets a great education in how to rule, economy, trade relations, politics etc. but also how to FIND someone who can do the job for you. Families will spend some time everyday, practicing their crafts together in their home. For this reason, there are generally no school buildings in GK. Some families will 'trade' promising children to either broaden their horizons, or to find a more specialised skill from others. GK is the land of art; visual, writing, musical, dancing, anything that can be 'presented' as such is highly valued among citizens. Art where is meant to be shared, to be seen, there is no such thing as 'showing off' here. Most religious sites will have a gallery section, and noble homes will occasionally open themselves for galas and festivals.
Language:
The main 4 languages of Klenith are human, elvish, orcish, and dwarvish. The language in GK is Orcish. Imagine having a mouth full of tusks. There are lisps and a focus on throat sounds in the Orcish language. The written form uses lots of straight lines and circles or dots*. Poets like to turn the circles into small flowers for flair. There's a GK specific, fishing specific sign language for sailors and fishers. While it is difficult to use while on the open seas, smaller fishing boats will use this to communicate between village waters. There's the 'general' sign language for the nobility** allover Klenith. Most hand signs are reserved for the Spies or fishermen/sailors or the hard-of-hearing nobility. The Spies slang is also never spoken, purely a written dialect stemming from orcish and the equivalent hand sign, that is ever changing. 'The sign of a good fisherman is how vulgar he is and how many fingers he has.' A lot of swearing is against the seas/oceans or allusions to tragedies that happen in the rain, while happiness is in sunshine. There are also religious curses referring to various religious texts of Aeons. The royal family bare a purple crest of three down-facing arrowheads, each a different shade of grey, the palest at the top and the darkest at the bottom, encircled by small red berries. The GK royal colours are purple and red, though many foreigners believe that grey is included. The arrowheads are the cliffs that lines GK, the berries from their Aeons religion, and the red is later attributed to the Spies institution (although it was red long before the Spies rose to power/popularity).
*similar to written korean
**deaf or HoH people elsewhere default to the fisher's sign language

I have a question! If the LI's in Gilded Shadows could pursue any other profession what would they choose.
Ari - he would....keep doing what he's doing (he just doesn't have the capacity to imagine himself doing anything else.)
Caissa - I think he'd like to take over Erythros Industries but like....with less crime.
Caleb - I believe he'd likely go into some kind of law enforcement
Jack - I don't think he'd change what he is doing. He'd stay Caissa's bodyguard/right hand man.
Lance - 🤣
Magnus - Become a trophy husband
Quill - he'd just start writing full time
Reuben - no change
Yuu - No change, or else he'd go into private practice. He would absolutely stay a physician though.

DnD - Subclass & Profession Ideas
Subclasses:
Subclass: Way of the Night Monk
Mostly works the same as a Shadow Monk, but with more of a moon association, thus making them less exclusively dark aligned & more so twilight. This would give them access to both light & dark. The context being that the moon is both light & dark. This would also give them access to See Invisibility & eventually Truesight.
---
Subclass: Shinigami Ninja
This subclass works almost the same as someone multiclassed into a Phantom Rogue & a Way of the Night Monk. Also, eventually learns See Invisibility & Truesight. Gives access to magic, but only in so far as Infusion, specifically in the creation of Fūda (runic spell tags) which can be made with little more than paper & some sort of writing utensil, though Ink transfers the magic best here & Brushes are better for it. The Ninja class automatically comes with a Fūda Kit, which is very similar to Calligrapher's Supplies, but replaces the Quill with Calligraphy Brushes.
---
Subclass: Runesmith Artifacer
Infuses weapons, armor, accessories, shields, tools, & other such items with magic via the application of runes & gems. This automatically comes with the Runesmith Profession, as well as making it easier to get into the Lapidary & Metal Artisan Professions. However, not all at once. There is an implication of growth & mastery in this subclass. It also gives access to Arcane Knowledge.
Can also use rituals that involve the use of runes & materials (especially magical materials), but it takes time. Also gives access to certain utility spells such as Detect Magic & the Identify spell. Nothing that helps in fighting though.
---
Professions:
Lapidary = A person who cuts, polishes, or engraves gems. Those with access to magic can go on to become Runesmith Artificers.
Homecook = Someone who is skilled at cooking at home, but not in a professional sense. Has no formal training & is either self-taught or was taught by a friend or family member. Can have gourmet knowledge, but it's a result of experimentation, word-of-mouth, or research rather than formal training.
Metal Artisan = Someone who uses metal to craft things. Something of a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-one in the realm of metalwork. Can have knowledge in the fields of Blacksmithing, Armory, Weaponsmithing, Bladesmithing, & Jewelry-Making. However, can only specialize in & master one of them.
Interrogator = Someone who gets information out of others whether via questioning or torture. Those who simply question often practice psychology & Hellstromism.
Survival Paramedic = Someone who has knowledge in first aid & can use available resources to make things like splints, crutches, bindings, ect. This means that if they don't have access to a Healing Kit for one reason or another, then they can still get advantage on rolls involving Medicine. Gives access to the Medicine & Survival or Nature Skills.

Hey guys, is it normal to feel a sense of doom regarding a new life change?
Hey guys,
I have recently accepted a job position at a research company (rhymes with Dermo Disher) at a city in the Midwest. It is offering a very beginner-level wage and overall does not have the best reputation workplace-wise (though the company is very well reputed and the workplace is noted as a "good place to start a career"), but my family have been so supportive of me being hired that I found myself unable to walk away from it. We searched for apartments, signed the lease, packed bags, and now I find myself trying to schedule time for a drug screening before hopping on a jet to a new life, new workplace, new state all by myself, cut off from practically everybody I know except for via phone and social media. The process of ALL OF THAT has been very reminiscent of pulling teeth minus anesthesia, and overall I have been telling myself that this is a great opportunity for me to grow and develop as a person and gain confidence and independence.
However, as of recently as the days dwindle down to the flight date, I find it hard to be excited for this opportunity. As my siblings helped me pack the last of my things, I have been feeling like a prisoner en route to execution. I am thinking of Anthony Bridgerton when he was about to marry Edwina Sharma, and I am beginning to wonder if I have made the wrong choice. I am thinking of Jane Eyre right before she went to that sketchy estate with that really sketchy Mr. Rochestor (idc about this character enough to spell his name right). I know it is too late to back out now, considering that I have signed the lease, but are these feelings of doom normal to have when about to enter a new stage of life? Thanks.
Any professionals--or heck, anyone-- is free to answer.
