How do you think Christian Cage would react to someone dissing his wife y/n in a promo?
Lover
What happens when the rivalry between Christian Cage and Adam Copeland goes too far and causes Adam to say some controversial unscripted things about Y/n and the Patriarchy
Tumblr media
word count: 1K+
Main Masterlist Christian Cage Masterlist
I currently sat in my private locker room with Killswitch, Nick Wayne, my wife Y/n and our baby girl Madaline. The five of us sat in a comfortable silence as we watched Collison on the tv in the locker room. Looking around the room I felt a fuzzy feeling in my chest, I was surrounded by my beautiful dysfunctional family. The people I loved most. I was distracted from my thoughts when I heard Y/n and Nick start to boo at the screen. I looked to find my former best friend turned arch rival Adam Copeland on the screen. Copeland had been on my ass for months, ever since he arrived in AEW he wouldn't leave me or my family alone. I was on my last straw with him, what else could he want from me. I already beat him TWICE, for god sakes he put my son through a flaming table! He has no right to be demanding another title shot, he is undeserving.
I watched as Adam walked to the ring microphone in hand, what the hell did he want now.
“I am sick and tired of Christian Cage and the Patrarchy, all they do is cheat. If it wasn’t for Y/n and her tricks I would be standing here as your TNT Champion. Speaking of Y/n I don’t think you know this but in real life her and Christian Cage are married. Yeah, let that sink in for a moment. I guess Christian Cage really does have a thing for fatherless wrestlers, bonus points if they are way younger than he is.”
I could feel my blood boiling as I heard the words fall from Adams mouth. I looked to Y/n and she was in shock like the rest of us. “I mean she is 20 years younger than him! But hey who am I to judge, if I was Christian Cage I would do the same thing. I mean have you seen her, damn. Christian you better watch out because once I take your title I’m going to take your controversally young wife. Which by the way you only married because you knocked her up, nice job having a newborn at 50”
At this point I was livid, I wanted to kill Adam Copeland, how dare he talk about my family like that. For someone who gets so mad when someone brings up his family it’s ironic how he has no problem talking about other peoples relationships.
“While I’m at it did you know the the age gap between Nick Wayne and Y/n is significantly lower than her’s with Christian, Gross. Y/n if a filty who-” Just then his mike was cut
That was the final straw, I stormed out of my private locker room and ran to the stage. I was going to make him pay. I knew this was probably a trap but I didn’t care, my adrenaline was pumping. I jumped on top of Adam and beat the bloody hell out of him for real. He tried to cover himself from my blows but they did nothing. I was able to get a good amount of shots in before security pulled me off of him. “I’m going to fucking kill you! What the fuck is your problem huh!” I yelled to Adam as security held us apart. The audience was shocked, they could tell that this wasn’t a work, for god sakes they cut off his mike before he did any more damage. My adrenaline was still pumping and I knew I coudn’t let Adam have the last word, especially after he disrespected my wife. I managed to steal a microphone that thankfully worked.
“What the hell is your problem. You disgust me, how dare you speak of my wife and family like that. I think you are jealous of me. You have a boring marriage that has no love, you are married to an old hag who can’t even sleep in the same bed as you. Can’t you accept that I am just better than you, I have a better life, a better wife, I am the TNT champion god dammit. Just acceppt it and move on, and speaking of cheating just go home and beg your wife to forgive you for cheating on her AGAIN. Now I’ll admit that I am an asshole but I would never so something like that to the woman I love. Oh and I dare you to talk about Y/n again, next time I will make sure to kill you”
With that I left, security escorted me backstage and out of the building. I didn’t even care of the consequences I could possibly face, I was proud of defending my family. On my way out I saw all the wrestlers backstage comforting Y/n who was understandably very upset. It warmed my heart to see.
***
A day has passed since the incident with Adam Copeland and myself on Collision. Like I assumed everyone was talking about it. Considering in this rivalry I am the bad guy Y/n and myself had received nothing but support during the whole situation. People were turning on Adam for his actions, being disgusted with what he said. AEW made the decision to give Copeland a four week suspension along with making him put out an public apology. The following is a total BS apology from Adam Copeland;
*I would like to sincerely apologise to Y/n, Christian Cage, AEW and the fans for my actions on Saturday. What I said was truly uncalled for. I apologise to everyone who was offended with my words. I take full responsibility for my actions and will continue to work on being a better person. - Rater R Superstar Adam Copeland*
What a total jerk.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that” I told Y/n as the two of us lied in bed, mutaly deciding we would spend the day rotting in bed after what happened not even 24hrs ago. “It’s not your fault, you didn’t know he was going to say that” She told me reassuringly “I know but what he said was fucked up. I love you so much, like so so much. I would do anything for you Y/n” I told her as I began to place delicate kisses on her neck. “What are you doing?” Y/n said playfully
“Showing you how much I love you”

Private Celebration 🚿
Thanks for sending in the request @brideofinfamy! I hope you enjoy the story 🖤
Word count: 1,577 Divider by: Me 🙂 GIF is not mine
Original request: “can you please write an Christian Cage X Fem Reader Story where Reader is his on controversial young on screen Girlfriend, but she always had an thing for him and vice versa, and when Christian successfully retained his TNT Championship at Revolution she admits with an devilish smirk backstage that she exactly knew how to "celebrate" the win and they end up having sex in the shower of his locker room. Afterwards Christian says he could get used to those kind of celebrations with her and ask if she wants to be his”
Disclaimers: Cursing, unprotected sex. Read at your own discretion 🤷🏻‍♀️
You and Christian have a private celebration together after his TNT title match…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was no secret that you and Christian had major chemistry on screen, even despite your age difference. He is the Patriarch of AEW, and you are his adoring on screen girlfriend, making quite the pair whenever you wreaked havoc inside the ring and during promos. The fans were convinced that you and Christian were really a couple with the kisses, touches, and glances you often shared in front of the camera, but what they didn’t know is that you weren’t pretending anymore. The truth is you had developed real feelings for him along the way, but you never said anything or acted on them behind the curtain. There were moments when you could’ve sworn he was flirting with you, but surely this was all just business for him.
Tumblr media
It was the night of the Revolution PPV, and you were dressed to the nines and your hair and makeup were looking flawless. When you stepped into Christian’s dressing room his jaw dropped and you swore you heard him curse under his breath. He cleared his throat and composed himself before speaking, “You umm, you look beautiful Y/N,” You smiled and offered your thanks, the way his eyes lingered on you made your cheeks flush a little. Christian chuckled to himself, prompting you to ask, “What’s so funny?”
“Everyone thinks it’s me who runs the show, but you’re the real showstopper. The Patriarchy is lucky to have you. Hell, I’m lucky to have such a beautiful young thing like you on my arm. Shall we?” he spoke sweetly as he extended his arm out to you.
Christian’s match against Daniel Garcia was just about to start, the entire Patriarchy stood with him in gorilla position waiting for his music to hit. He appeared to be a little nervous, so you grabbed his hand and gave it a little squeeze, earning a big grin from him in return. “You’re going to do great Christian. When it’s all said and done and you retain your championship, we’ll celebrate,” you encouraged. “Let’s do this,” he said while walking up the steps to the tunnel, still holding onto your hand. The second his song reverberated through the arena; the boos almost drowned it out. You strutted down the ramp, keeping in step with Christian while Killswitch and Nick followed behind.
Tumblr media
Just like every match when you watched Christian, something inside you ignited and made your thoughts wander from the things going on in the ring to what you’d like to do to him behind closed doors. The way he flexed his muscles made you picture his strong arms lifting you up and carrying you over to a bed and letting him have his way with you. Your head snapped back into the match when you heard a loud thud on the mat followed by Christian yelling at the ref. The tables had turned when Garcia went on a run, knocking Christian all over the place and gaining the crowd’s support in the process.
You did your usual antics of distracting the ref and making a scene, which allowed Killswitch to get involved in the match without the ref noticing. Christian immediately went for the pin when Killswitch slid out of the ring, the ref taking notice and giving the 3 count. Nick was the first one in the ring to celebrate his father figure’s victory, followed by Killswitch and then you. You were caught up in the excitement of Christian retaining his title when you bumped Nick out of the way and wrapped your arms around him! He returned your embrace by pulling you in close before crashing his lips against yours! Sure, you’ve kissed on camera before, but this time it felt different. It was filled with more passion and was more intimate even with thousands of people around you. Your heartbeat was fast and steady when the kiss was broken when the ref held up Christian’s arm in victory.
Tumblr media
The sound of boos and a few cheers sent you, Christian, Killswitch, and Nick on your way backstage. Everyone in the back congratulated Christian and Daniel on a job well done, giving each of them pats on the back and high fives, all the while you and Christian never taking your eyes off each other. There was a crackle in the air, and it wasn’t from the match! When he was finally able to step away from all the people, he made his way over to you and you greeted him with a devilish smirk on your face, “So, champ, why don’t we head back to your dressing room? I know exactly how to celebrate your win…”
Without hesitation, Christian let you guide him hand in hand back to his dressing room. It was obvious now more than ever that he desired you just as much as you did him when he closed the door in a hurry and pinned you up against it! Both of you were breathing fast and hard when he finally spoke up, “So, what was it you had in mind for the celebration, Y/N? I can think of a few ways, but I’d much rather hear your thoughts,” Christian’s lips were mere inches from yours when you murmured against them, “Well champ, I think a shower is in order,”
“A shower? That’s how you want to celebrate?” he interrupted, causing you to chuckle at his raised eyebrows. “Yes, only you won’t be showering alone,” you hinted.
Tumblr media
Christian took your response and ran with it, lifting you up by your thighs and carrying you in the direction of the shower. Your lips never parted on the trek over to it, your fingers intertwined with his hair and your legs wrapped around his waist while your center pressed against his hard length. He lowered you to your feet and you turned the water on, wasting no time getting both of you underneath it as he backed you up against the shower wall. Your clothes were a sopping wet mess as you and Christian tugged and pulled at them to remove them from your body. It took less effort to take off his ring gear, his hard length finally free from all restrictions when each piece was thrown into a pile on the floor. He took each of your breasts in his hands, massaging them and toying with your nipples. “You’re perfect, Y/N. So. Fucking. Perfect,” he complimented before taking a stiff peak in his mouth.
You squirmed against the tile wall as his tongue lapped and flicked against it while sucking in between. Your soft moans echoed off the walls, steam flowing from the shower in thick pillows through the air. Christian’s fingers found themselves in between your legs, teasing your clit before he slid 2 fingers inside of you with ease, “Ah! Christian!” you cried out. “Just like that!” He groaned in approval against your neck, getting lost in the feeling of you coming undone from his fingers alone. He could tell your orgasm was close when your walls started gripping his fingers tightly and your breathing accelerated. “Cum for me baby girl, let yourself go,” Your legs shook, and you nearly lost your balance as your orgasm ripped through you!
Tumblr media
Before you had a chance to fully recover, Christian lifted you up and aligned himself at your entrance before pushing himself inside you. Your back slid up and down the tiles as he thrusted, your breasts bounced against his toned chest while the hot water cascaded over the both of you. He filled you completely and stretched your tight cunt in all the best ways, bringing you closer and closer to your second orgasm. “My sweet little thing, taking me so well! Tell the whole arena who makes you feel this good. Let them know who your champion is,” Christian said through gritted teeth. “Y-you do Christian! Ah, shit! Christian!”
You and Christian came almost simultaneously, your bodies quaking against one another, and your moans and curses intertwined while you both rode out the high. The water was now running cold, which caused you to shiver, catching the eye of the champ. “Come on baby, let’s get you dried off,” Christian said as he turned the faucet off. He sweetly wrapped a towel around your shoulders and rubbed his hands up and down your arms to help warm you. He pulled you into his arms, embracing you tightly and you reveled in the heat his body was offering you. “I know I’ve never told you this before, but you’re everything to me Y/N. I miss you when we’re not together and I’m the best version of me when we are. I don’t want to just be a couple on tv anymore. Would you be mine, even when the cameras are off? Let’s give us a real try baby,” You pulled your head back and peered up at him, noticing immediately that he was serious. This was the moment you had hoped for all along, and you couldn’t believe it was really happening! “Yes Christian! I’d love to be yours!”
Tumblr media
He let your words sink in for a few seconds before kissing you and smiling against your lips at the fact you were now officially his girlfriend. When he started chuckling, you asked him what was so funny, his response making you laugh too.  “I hope I keep retaining this title,” Christian smiled.
“And why is that?”
“Because I could get used to these kinds of celebrations…”

There's something that they aren't telling us. It has been a month or so since Christian Cage had his promo. I haven't heard or seen him insulting anyone anymore.
That last match was great. Obviously, Christian found his new target, which is Daniel Garcia. He's the new Darby Allin. Not only did Daniel want the TNT belt, but Christian also found a new kid. Who cares if he has four stepfathers (ETA: Three - Cash Wheeler is going to jail IRL).
I do miss Christian's insults and his being a daddy figure to Nick. Where's the hug? Where are the kisses? Where's the adoration and love declaration?! Bring them back!
Tumblr media
AEW decided to put more wrestling than soap, so Jay is adapting. Still, I want him to insult people more. He seems to be more involved behind the scenes with Adam Copeland and Dustin Rhodes nowadays. Nothing's wrong with it, but I miss the shenanigans.
There is no doubt that they are developing young talents like Nick Wayne and Daniel Garcia. Nick's moves were really smooth - he's such a talented kid. Daniel is also the same - the veterans are supportive and letting them shine in the ring.

How the I Quit Match Should End (and its aftermath)
Adam wins a bloodbath of a match via the Grindhouse
Nick, Shayna and Killswitch, disgusted with Christian's loss, proceed to turn on him and vow to make his life a living hell just as Adam predicted.
Adam shortly after his title win starts to show signs of having been brainwashed, leading to speculation on if the title is corrupting him or is someone else pulling his strings?
At Dynasty, during a title match with Daniel Garcia, the lights go out and Malakai Black shows up to assault Daniel, the lights come back on and Daniel is lying motionless in the ring, Adam pins him 1-2-3 to retain, looks at the Leader of the House and smiles maliciously before saying "The House Always Wins." Does the House of Black have a new member?
The following Dynamite, the House of Black cut a promo officially welcoming TNT Champion Adam Copeland to their ranks and Adam explains that during his absence, the House came to him and offered him the respect and love that no one else had as well as their services to make sure that the TNT title never leaves his possession while Adam offered to assist the House in becoming champions once again and making sure Julia remains TBS Champion.
Enraged at his loss, Christian demands a rematch at Double or Nothing to which Adam agrees with the stipulation that the loser can never challenge for the belt again for as long as the winner is champion. Adam wins with a Killswitch thanks to a well-timed distraction from the Waynes, officially barring the former patriarch from challenging for his belt ever again.
With Christian finally out of his hair, Adam begins to help the House toward their goal of ruling over all of AEW. It starts with Malakai challenging Eddie Kingston for his Continental Championship on Dynamite, winning with a Black Mass. Despite Julia losing the TBS title to a debuting Mercedes Mone, she would quickly win it back on Collision thanks to a distraction from Adam. Finally, Buddy and Brody would capture the vacant Tag Team championships in a tournament concluding at Forbidden Door. Mission accomplished. The House of Black were now a House of Champions.

Okay, beloved unhinged mutuals, I am here to share something with you. Vamp and I tend to do some pretty deep dives when we get really invested in shit, and we are, like, shoulder-deep in Jack and Darby’s fucking ecosystems right now, and see the thing is, we all assumed that Jack’s heel turn was decided last summer when Hook won the FTW belt and Jurassic Express lost the tag belts right around the same time (this was the beginning of the breakdown). And we also assumed that this was really where the idea of Jack being more, better, stronger, more successful if only he would drop the goodie-two-shoes act really started - first with Christian Cage, and later, in the Pillars tournament, with MJF.
Except that it isn't. From what we can tell, insofar as we haven't gone this deep into anyone else's social media, the first person to start this idea that Jack could be more, stronger, better was Darby in 2021. And here's the promo to prove it. It's worth listening to, not only because man I felt through every inch of my BODY, but because what he's saying here sounds so, so, so familiar to what we ended up hearing when Jack’s heel turn finally materialized. Look at the posting date: April 21, 2021. In fact, almost exactly two years later (Apr 19, 2023), the Pillars tournament officially kicked off, with this theme of Jack failing to reach his full potential being a running undercurrent.
(For what it's worth, two things: one, here is Jack's response to Darby’s promo. Two, Jack never once interacted with Darby’s promo on Twitter. Not a like, retweet, or reply, not even after AEW retweeted it. But his response covers a loooooot of the same stuff we heard starting in January of this year: I want to win. I want the belt. I want those matches. It might be safe to say that the first match that pushed him down this road was his 2021 match with Darby.)
Also worth mentioning: Darby and Jack never had another match after this 2021 one. There were a few multi-man matches, but none individually. In fact, they were the only Pillars to have only gone up against each other once (in AEW) prior to the tournament; everyone else had more history. They did, however, call back to their match specifically during Pillars promos.
When Darby gets the TNT belt again, I would be so surprised if Jack doesn't go after it - and him - again. There was a reason this loop was left open, there was a reason they kept talking about trust during their Pillars tag match, there's a reason they only ever had one match, and there was a reason they had Darby in the ring when Jack had to decide if he was gonna become the type of person he hated in order to win the championship. It took him two years to "flip the switch", but he finally did, and now, I suspect, he's got some unfinished business.

Thoughts on AEW: Revolution (2024)
There will be spoilers. There will also be a cut, as a courtesy.
Zero Hour:
The Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Jay White) vs Jeff Jarrett, Stanam Singh, Jay Lethal, Willie Mack, and Private Part
This consistent thing of Max flubbing on the rap is interesting. My current assumption is that they're potentially having Max break away from the group. Which is an interesting choice, because Bowens is significantly more popular.
The match itself was totally fine. It was a Jarrett match. I didn't go into it expecting it to be some sort of masterpiece of technical wrestling. I expected a fun, goofy little thing with a bunch of silly shit happening that also happened to have some decent-to-good wrestling. And that's exactly what this was. No complaints.
I have no idea if White's post-match promo was intended to be interpreted as a smarmy, insincere thing filled with deliberately cheap pops for the audience, but that's how I heard it. It somehow made it so much better.
Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander vs Julia Hart & Skye Blue
Julia Hart's character going from a cheerleader to "What if The Undertaker was a spooky girl instead?" is such an amazing transformation. I can't get over how well she's committed to the presentation of the gimmick, and how good this is. Skye going from blue-themed girl from Chicago to a Dark Kingdom cosplayer has also been an interesting development. I like how these two also seem to be enjoying the changeup.
Stokely Hathaway is hilarious. I love him on commentary. His inclusion of the dynamic with Willow and Kris is just fantastic.
If I've said it once, I've said it 100 times-- I love Willow. She's one of my favorite women on the roster. The combination of the happy/bubbly personality that also contains someone who, if pressed, will rip you in half? Wonderful stuff. And Statlander is also consistently great. Watching these two throw Skye around was fantastic.
I was a little surprised to see Willow and Kris win without any major fuckery. Julia's moonsault looked significantly better compared the one with her match against Abadon.
It was a fun little match.
Revolution
Christian Cage vs Daniel Garcia, AEW TNT Championship
Christian Cage continues to be one of the best heels in professional wrestling today. A gimmick composed entirely of "lmao L + Ratio + Dead Dad" and "I will be your father"-- all while he wrestles in a goddamn sleeveless turtleneck? Everything about that is just somebody whose face you want to see punched.
Really happy to see Garcia get the match. I mentioned before that I had wanted DG to win. That didn't happen, but I thought everything about the match was great. Menard combing out there to beat the hell out of Luchasaurus/Killswitch in defense of Danny was great.
I thought Garcia looked good in this, and I don't think him losing to Christian (especially with all the interference) will cause any significant issues.
Ultimately, I enjoyed the match. I thought it was a good opener and kept me pretty invested the whole time. Although I'm wondering who is going to be the one to actually take the title off Christian.
Eddie Kingston vs Bryan Danielson, Continental Crown Championship (AEW Continental, ROH World, NJPW Strong Openweight Championships)
Bryan Danielson is without question one of the greatest technical pro wrestlers of all time. Also, he and Eddie both are fantastic in-ring storytellers.
Bryan Danielson, in his current iteration, is also a condescending piece of shit, and he's great at doing that, too.
Like Willow, I love Eddie. Eddie is up there with Hiroshi Tanahashi in that I will literally always cheer for him. I don't care who he's up against, I'm cheering for Eddie the whole time.
This match was amazing. Eddie and Bryan are so great at getting you emotionally invested in their matches. They both know what things they need to do for the audience to get hooked in, and they play those perfectly. The narrative of this match was perfect.
I went into this genuinely uncertain just who would win. The majority of the match didn't help matters. Eddie hitting the ring post with a chop, instead of Danielson, was a nice piece of drama to incorporate into things. I also liked how Danielson really made it a point to emphasize just how strong Eddie's chops are-- with commentary even pointing out Bryan things Eddie is better with chopping/upper body attacks.
A big narrative line through these Eddie Kingston Addresses the Blackpool Combat Club matches has been that BCC generally seems to think Eddie has the potential to be a lot better than he is, and they're trying to get that out of him. Except for Mox, they don't respect Eddie until he shows up and chops the fuck out of them. Eddie has always been on their level, but he doesn't believe in himself enough to really get there.
Great match. Just a great fucking match.
I know Eddie eventually is going to have to lose the belts. It's an inevitability unless just retire all of them simultaneously, but that seems unlikely. That said, I don't have to like it.
Wardlow vs Chris Jericho vs Powerhouse Hobbs vs Lance Archer vs Hook vs Brian Cage vs Magnus vs Dante Martin
Originally the Meat match, got changed up due to Reasons. I'll be honest, I didn't really care much about this match. I assumed Wardlow was going to win, because it didn't really make sense to do this repackaged presentation of him with Undisputed Kingdom, set up a match essentially to be like "Look at Wardlow slap all this meat" and then have him lose. The inclusion of the smaller guys was, like, fine. Dante Martin is great. Hook is fun. Magnus was also great. Chris Jericho was there.
I thought it was contrived and silly, but I also enjoyed when the smaller dudes all got knocked out of the ring so the bigger dudes could do a little pose off and have slap meat. But that's because the "MEAT" chants are hilarious to me.
My preferred ending to this match would have been if Wardlow had powerbombed Jericho for the win. But you can't get everything you want. Also, Wardlow using the Last Ride as his finisher is great. I wasn't the biggest fan of Bikertaker (and I believe he had only recently transitioned into Bikertaker whenever I fell off of watching WWF/E the first time) but Last Ride is such a great powerbomb.
A silly and fun match. It was a nice cooldown from Eddie/Bryan.
Roderick Strong vs Orange Cassidy, AEW International Championship
AEW's doctor said that OC wouldn't be cleared to wrestle unless they taped up his ribs and back. So the match starts with OC wearing a comical amount of kinesio tape. In a match against a man who is literally called "The Messiah of the Backbreaker".
Strong came to the ring wearing a white hooded cape and a skull-themed, like, paintball mask. I didn't recognize it at first, but I think it was intended to be something like Taskmaster from Marvel Comics. Which is kinda cool. I'm not as familiar with Taskmaster as much as other villains-- mostly because I just haven't read a lot of Marvel stuff.
Anyway, this was a good match. Roddy, as one would expect, beat the hell out of OC's back. I think OC did great at showing that he's just a beat down dude who has barely let himself take time to recover from any injuries. And having him go up against someone who basically specializes in hurting the area that OC was already injured was just perfect.
Roddy is great. The number of ways that man can spin something into a backbreaker is always impressive. I'm glad he won. I maintain that getting this win will absolutely help the legitimacy of Undisputed Kingdom.
Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli) vs FTR
I think that FTR is one of the greatest tag teams around today. I've said this before. I was a fan of theirs when they were in NXT as The Revival, and I loved their little Belt Collector run with AEW. In terms of non-WWE tag teams, they're usually right up there with The Young Bucks, and whether you're a fan of the Bucks or FTR really seems to boil down to the style you like to watch. The no-flips-just-fists of FTR is a great callback to the older era of wrestling, and the two of them do it well.
Mox and Claudio also do that very well.
This was a great match. These four dudes beat the shit out of each other, and I genuinely wasn't sure how the match would go.
BCC doing a Doomsday Device with a goddamn European uppercut was wild.
I think having Mox and Jon win was perfectly fine. FTR isn't going to be hurt by losing to these two dudes. They're fucking FTR. I could easily watch these four have several more matches together. There's a kind of respectful brutality with them.
That all being said, I do wish the meme of Mox bleeding every match-- or people being surprised when he isn't bleeding-- would finally die. He hasn't done it in a while.
Of course, half of Mox's character is basically some sort of blood freak with a violence fetish, so I still expect blood somewhere in his bigger matches.
"Timeless" Toni Storm vs Deonna Purrazzo, AEW Women's Championship
Mariah May coming out to Toni's old theme, with her old gear was a great touch.
Deonna is great. I'm happy to see her here. I'm glad that there's solid technical wrestling the women's division with her and Deeb being there. This was a solid match. I didn't really have a lot in terms of expectations-- I haven't seen a lot of Deonna's other stuff, but I knew she was good.
While I think it would have been fine if Deonna had one, I also think it may have been a bit too soon for that. Also, if Mercedes is debuting soon, that sets up a bit of a lose/lose if Deonna is the champion and they try to hook those two into a feud.
I definitely want to see more from Deonna. I think she would be a good person to take the TBS belt from Julia. I don't want her down in ROH-- but that's because ROH is a subscription service, and I don't currently have it (although I do want it, because Athena is one of my favorites).
I thought this was a solid match for both of them. Toni is always fun to watch in the ring. I'm curious to see where things go with both of them after this.
Will Ospreay vs Konosuke Takeshita
1 Like = 1 Bruv.
My expectation for this match was, quite literally, just that it was going to be a fucking fantastic match. Ospreay is one of the greats. Takeshita is steadily (and rapidly) approaching into the ranks of the greats.
I fucking loved this match. The crowd at the arena fucking loved this match. Every time Ospreay and Takeshita started in on each other, you could eat the people just get so into it.
Was this a dirty spotfest? Yeah. Of course. It's a Will Ospreay match. That's what he does. But you know what? I don't fucking care. I can enjoy watching ZSJ and Bryan Danielson spend an hour in the middle of the ring, trying to break each other's fingers and I can enjoy watching Ospreay and Takeshita jump around and flip and smash each other with elbows before jumping and flipping some more.
Spanish Fly is also one of my favorite moves to watch.
The match fucked. It humped. It was great. I loved it. It was A Spectacle if there ever was one. The kind of match you can eat popcorn to, although you're going to throw it everywhere because you jerking the bag around out of excitement. So much fun.
Samoa Joe vs Swerve Strickland vs HangMAD Hangman Adam Page
Did I want Swerve to win? Yes.
Did I want Hangman to win? Yes.
Did I want Samoa Joe to win? Yes.
Did I want Hangman to completely lose his mind and deliberately fuck over Swerve? Oh god, yes.
Swerve Strickland the most over wrestler who is not named "Sting" in AEW. There is nobody who comes close to this man. He literally broke into Hangman's home, and threated Hangman's infant child, and the crowd still loves him, because he's that fucking cool. And he's that good. Swerve's popularity is so strong that anyone who goes against him is going to be booed on some level.
Hangman has, as the upper-third of his name plate said, completely lost it. Wide-eyed, driven, and completely unhinged. Does he want the championship? Or does he just want Swerve to not have it?
Samoa Joe is Samoa Joe. We all love him. He's great on the mic. He's great in the ring. He feels credible and legitimate as a champion and a challenger. Having him be the champion for this feud is great.
A fantastic match. A ton of fun to watch. There was a perfect amount of drama for this thing. I loved it.
This match also cemented the double-turn for Swerve and Hangman.
Hangman, in an attempt to prevent Swerve from winning, beat up two different referees. The only way that's a babyface move is if your name is Bobby Heenan. Hangman's obsession with screwing over Swerve has caused him to start doing this stuff. I can't wait to see where they go with him now. Are they gonna change the music? Will they keep the goofy comments in the nameplate?
Swerve, by extension, refused to use Prince Nana's crown when it was offered, saying that he didn't need it. A thing that had been used before in matches against Hangman. There is an attempt here to have Swerve redeem himself for the deplorable things he's done.
In the end, Hangman tapped to Samoa Joe. Excalibur, help to sow the seeds that many people were wondering, posed the question if Hangman was tapping because he actually gave up, or if he was tapping to spite Swerve. I think it was the latter, because he's that much of a (justified) hater.
I am still 100% in favor of Hangman and Swerve fighting forever.
Sting and Darby Allin vs The Young Bucks, AEW Tag Team Championship
Sting's last match. Going out on his terms. This was a big deal for a lot of people. Even people who weren't in AEW. I knew this was going to be special.
Before the match starts, Ric Flair made his way down to the ring to take up space. Then, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat came down as the guest timekeeper. They also showed various other wrestlers in the audience.
The Young Bucks come out in robes and have cannons shoot out business cards. It felt like a corporate Okada entrance. I liked it.
Darby came out as he does.
Then we got a little video package of Sting in an empty theater as they show various career highlights. In the end, he says, "It's showtime. It's showtime for the last time. Let's do this."
Sting's entrance starts with one of his sons dressed as a red, white, and blue-themed Surfer Sting, complete with the blonde hair. Another son is dressed as Wolfpac Sting. Then we have Sting show up.
While Tony Schiavone's voice isn't as strong as it was in WCW, you can tell during his initial commentary during the match that's definitely trying not to get emotional.
Watching Sting, and his two sons, do Stinger Splashes to the Bucks was great.
Tables, chairs, a ladder, and panes of glass were brought out. Panes. Multiple. A series of chairs were set up, and one or two sheets of the glass were placed on top, like a table.
Sting and Darby went through tables.
Darby jumped from the ladder (which was quite tall) and landed back first into Chekov's Glass-and-Chair Table. He laid on the ground for quite some time, his back just absolutely shredded.
Sting, also, went through glass. However, he had clothes on, and looked unscathed.
The match was chaos in the best way. I had no idea who would win-- I expected The Bucks to do something fucky to screw over Sting. They threw everything at him. He withstood multiple superkicks and BTE/EVP Triggers.
Eventually, Darby came back to life, and managed to keep Nicholas Jackson at bay long enough for Sting to throw on the Scorpion Deathlock. Matthew taps. Sting and Darby retain.
Sting's last wrestling match, and he goes out on top. I didn't expect that. I don't know why I didn't expect that. Tony Khan is a billionaire wrestling nerd, and Sting was/is probably a favorite of his. If there was ever a wrestler who deserved to go out as the winner, it's Sting.
If AEW is around long enough to have a "Hall of Fame", Sting needs to be one of the first people inducted (the first person has to be Brodie Lee, or I will personally fight Tony Khan). I hope they are around long enough for that.
Miscellaneous non-match things
PAC IS COMING BACK. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I've missed that bastard.
KOR IS BACK. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. I missed that goofy son of a bitch. I was so worried he wouldn't be coming back. I can't watch to see how he's going to be interacting with Undisputed Kingdom, since he seemingly rejected Roddy's offer to join.
Apparently Toni Storm called out Wendy Richter again in the post-show media scrum. Which I just find consistently hilarious.
In Summary
This shit was fucking fun as hell, dude. AEW is very consistent in having good quality PPVs. World's End was probably the weakest one I've seen, and even then, it wasn't bad. I can't wait to see the fallout of things on Wednesday.

good morning here are my collision thoughts:
- matches all were at very least solid, even the tnt title match that i wasnt particularly into
- commentary still needs to work out some kinks, but i didnt want to kill myself at any point so thats good. much better job at staying on topic and no "wow this is such a great match guys"
- need to do more to feel distinct from dynamite but hey first ep
- people that have been earmarked for the collision roster are all fantastic
- falling into the aew curse of one women's match
- punk promo was great i get people may be upset but there's not really anything he could do besides address the elephant in the room when he's in chicago
- andrade/miro/skye blue nation RISE
- i know a roster split isnt gonna impact the womens division as hard but they still need to have their big collision woman star i feel
- andrade/miro/punk all looked good esp those first two they looked huge

Yo I completely forgot to talk about the rest of the show on here so lighting round of Revolution:
Daniel Garcia vs Christian: pretty good, I get there giving Danny a bit more of a title chase but also I’d rather he just win the belt first try to show how far he’s grown
Eddie Kingston vs Bryan Danielson: rocked, Bryan’s locked in strategy giving way to Eddie unparalleled drive ruled. The bomb fest in the middle of the match and Eddie clobbering Dragon with one hand specifically were crazy good
8-man scramble: fine, would have preferred the meat mania match this was originally supposed to be. Wardlow winning is ok too but he’s cooled off a bunch for me since his TNT title runs
Orange Cassidy vs Roderick Strong: really good, sometimes I forget how good Roddy is at blowing dudes’ backs out. That top rope tilt a whirl was sick as hell (also yay Kyle’s back!)
BCC vs FTR: good, probably my least favorite out of their series of matches (the trios match from last week being my fav). Claudio in particular was pulling off some freak shit every few minutes and it ruled
Toni Storm vs Deonna Purrazzo: good, a little underwhelmed cuz I really liked the promo work leading up to this and was hoping for a scrappier outing than what we got. Also hoping for a rematch in the future
Konosuke Takeshita vs Will Ospreay: pretty good, it has a lot of the Ospreayism that I don’t like but MAN Soup was on a whole other level this match. Probably my favorite Takeshita performance in AEW so far
Samoa Joe vs Adam Page vs Swerve Strickland: really good, I’m still on team Hangman is a face but that spot where he beats down Bryce Remsburg to stop the pin was so premo heel shit. Also Joe looked like the fucking man the whole match through, him dog walking both guys at once at the start was spot of the match for me
Sting and Darby Allen vs The Young Bucks: so fucking good, I genuinely don’t know what to say aside from screaming like the world’s most excited baboon. The Sting family ass whooping, the shrugging off a table and 2 finishers, THAT DARBY GLASS BUMP. A perfect end to one of the greatest to ever do it. So long and thanks for all the memories Stinger
Overall: best show AEW’s put on since All In and up there with some of their best shows ever. Obvious best match of the night is Sting’s retirement but honorable runner up Bryan vs Eddie would have taken it any other night

The whole jungle jack boy Perry discourse on Twitter is nauseating because alot of it is viewing it in binary, black or white, 1s and 0s.
You've got the anti elite camp digging into JP because he is a poor promo, but more because he's shat on their saviour CM Punk, and these people are slippery sloping into the cornettes rhetoric which is obviously biased against any pro elite/friends with the bucks.
But then you have the pro elite folk who are completely denying the fact JP has bombed here in his main event push, and this angle does feel weak, and there are guys like Ricky starks who would do an infinite better job right now.
I'm not saying that JP won't ever become a main event act but it's clear as Crystal to see he isn't ready for it, but he's also still a fucking great wrestler and id much rather see him as TNT champ atm than Wardlow.
Sometimes you try and it just doesn't work out, and this to me is a case of AEW risking it and it not paying off.

hi hello! i’m trying to get into wrestling, thanks in part to your excellent fics, & im not sure where to start—do you have any advice? should i just watch the next match & catch context where i can?? i’ve seen the hookhausen primer, but beyond that i don’t know much of the Lore…what do you think?
Thank you again for your patience while I was out of town and couldn't answer this! I'm now ready to settle down and show my whole ass and admit I don't really have any good advice, but what I'm about to talk about will be specific to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), which is trying (and succeeding imo) to be WWE's younger, more hip sibling.
I'm gonna stick this under a cut because this is a stupidly long reply to your question. And I'm also gonna refer to a generic "you" as I'm hoping this will help other people who are thinking about hopping onboard.
The first trick to enjoying wrestling is by following your pussy (or pussy equivalent). The second trick to enjoying wrestling is finding one or two people to scream at. I don't speak for everyone (obviously), but I've randomly messaged so many people in fandom and they've all been happy to yell about our favorite clowns at the circus.
(For anyone reading this, my messages are always open, or you can find me on discord @ blacktofade#2949. Just know that I have every notification turned off and I will see things when I see things lmfao)
For me, getting into wrestling (again, specifically AEW) went: reading fic on AO3 -> watching some content of one specific wrestler on YouTube -> watching what I could of the AEW weekly schedule -> finding more wrestlers I liked and reading more fic on AO3 -> rinse and repeat.
There's too much lore (and often content) to feasibly digest it all as a new fan, so don't sweat it. Just have fun watching what you have time for and figure out who you enjoy most. Just remember that you're allowed to like anyone for whatever reason. We're all just here for a good time.
Also, most of the lore is hand-wavy at best. Most match promos are basically one person going "you did my man dirty by looking to the east on a wednesday at 5pm, therefore I have no choice but to fight you" and the other person says "yeah okay let's settle this in Ohio in a week like adults". Just go with it. Sometimes even with context, shit just doesn't make sense. Your job is to sit there going "yeah! kick their ass!" and to love every camp minute of it.
The great thing is that a lot of matches are on YouTube. Just search "[wrestler name] match" and you'll most likely find 10 years of content waiting for you. Pick at random. Don't try to go chronologically, or you'll drive yourself insane. See a thumbnail that interests you? Click it.
If you're lucky, you'll pick a wrestler who vlogs a lot (looking at you, Mr. Danhausen) and you'll be introduced to other wrestlers by association.
My favorite thing is watching two people wrestle on one of the AEW shows, and then looking them up later and finding out they had a major feud between 2010 and 2014 on three different continents and I'm very late to the party. This is part of the fun. Their history plays as big (or as little) a role as you want it to. You make the rules for your wrestling adventure. Anyone who says differently is a huge fucking nerd and you can tell them I'll meet them in the parking lot after school.
Now, for actual helpful info on how to literally watch wrestling:
When/Where to Watch?
Wrestling nights are every night Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri with the following schedule:
Mon – Dark Elevation on YouTube @ 7pm EST (midnight UTC) Tues – Elevation on YouTube @ 7pm EST (midnight UTC) Wed – Dynamite on TBS @ 8pm EST (1am UTC) Fri – Rampage on TNT @ 10pm EST (3am UTC)
The Mon and Tues shows are the easiest to watch since they're on YouTube and you can watch them whenever you want after they air. They usually save the meatier matches for Wed and Fri and there are plenty of ways to watch those while sailing the seven seas 🏴‍☠ and I definitely won't share info about these if you message me...
It took me the longest time to figure this out, but they film the YouTube matches on the same days as Dynamite/Rampage (which are live shows). For example, an episode of Dark might be filmed on Friday, but won't air until the following Tues. Which is why you might see the same outfits or people in the crowds, and also why you might see spoilers on socials from people who were there in-person for Dynamite/Rampage.
Live shows have a post show for people there in-person, too. It's typically along the lines of "let's bring out this wrestler and you can clap and they will tell you they love you". Sometimes, it's a lil extra kayfabe beef between wrestlers. And sometimes, very kind people record these and put them online for us to gobble down. Would definitely recommend searching YouTube or Twitter on weekends after shows.
Throughout the year, they also have Pay Per View (PPV) events, which are additional-cost shows typically on weekends and they're like 5 hour of pure nonstop wrestling for $50. They're a blast. Highly recommend if the brainrot is eating you alive.
Independent Wrestling?
I have dabbled only slightly outside of AEW, but for $10/month, you can get a subscription to IWTV (Independent Wrestling TV, not to be confused with Anne Rice's masterpiece lmfao), which has an insane amount of matches, an excellent search engine, and a video player that isn't pure trash.
This is a particularly fun investment once you've started to get to know the general AEW roster, because familiar faces pop up EVERYWHERE.
Finding Matches?
One of the hardest things is trying to figure out where to begin with finding matches for a specific wrestler or team.
CAGEMATCH is the single most important wrestling resource on the internet. Hands down.
You can search for any wrestler and it will compile a neat little list of every single match they've ever participated in. It will also tell you who won, how long the match was, where/when the match took place, and usually where you can (pay) to watch it. This can be extremely helpful for 1) writing fic and 2) finding lore between wrestling characters.
WTF is Kayfabe?
This also took me way too long to figure out, but kayfabe is the act of pretending what happens in the ring is real (real fights, real beef, real characters, etc). They're not doing fancy stunt work, they're actually kicking the shit out of each other. Most interviews are kayfabe compliant as they sit there and go "yes, on wednesday I will be murdering my enemy live on stage". It's very fun.
The "not kayfabe compliant" tag on AO3 is typically used when the fic uses shoot names (aka real names). For example, Donovan vs. Danhausen, Jim vs. Orange Cassidy, etc.
Fandom Etiquette?
Wrestlers are often easy to interact with, whether it's here, or Twitter, or Twitch. Don't. Don't even look in their direction if you're posting about ship-related content. Don't send them links. Don't @ them. If you want to keep your space safe, block them and stop them from seeing your content.
On AO3 you can lock your fic to give an extra layer of protection (and sometimes some cunt will send an ask to a wrestler here on tumblr telling them specifically how to get around it lmfao). Do what makes you feel comfy. I leave mine open because if anyone finds it, that's between them and god. I also haven't felt shame since the 90s.
ANYWAY. TL;DR: there are many ways to get into wrestling, but I hope you have fun on your wrestling adventure because that's the important thing.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
PS: For anyone who wants the Hookhausen Primer, you can find it HERE.

An unexpected solution to aew's devil
To be upfront I think it might be don calis. Okay I know that sounds insane as fuck but here me out. What do we know about the devil?
To my knowledge the devil's not gotten physical but when we have seen them their fairly slight.
They have a lot of backup maybe not always but when they need it.
They can be a fairly transactional person. See also that smoa Joe promo.
I don't think the devil will be the person to take out mjf I think they're gonna help Joe and reveal themselves as don calis, using Joe as his monster meal ticket which could set up a relegated konoskue takeshita as a face turned challenger.
Personally I wanna see Joe go on another 2 year roh style title run this time with the help of calis to be defeated by ideally for me swerve
GIVE THAT MAN A GODDAMN SINGLES TITLE AEW I DON'T CARE IF IT'S TNT OR WORLD JUST DO IT

Full Gear preview
Tumblr media
MJF vs. Jay White - Max is making his ninth defense of the AEW men's world championship; if he retains it tonight, then tomorrow he can say he's held the title for an entire year. White stole the title belt on October 4, in retaliation for an attack on September 27. Although the attackers were led by a man wearing MJF's signature devil mask, Friedman has denied any involvement. This will be Max's second match of the night, as he's working the pre-show in a tag match against White's henchmen, Austin and Colten Gunn.
I never expected to be so excited for this matchup. At times I have loathed both men, because they're so dedicated to their heel work that they sometimes cross the line from "boo" to "this is stupid I'm gonna make a sandwich." When White joined AEW it seemed inevitable they'd work together, and I was dreading that black hole of heel heat. In their first promo battle they kept harping on how alike they're supposed to be--a take so tepid I could get that from any idiot on Twitter--and I was like "hoo boy." And yet, they've sold me on it.
MJF's babyface works because it doesn't fundamentally alter who he is as a heel. He's still a spoiled rich kid trying to hurt everyone before they can hurt him. He's still extremely good at using rulebreaking and chicanery to get what he wants. It's just that now he wants to deserve to be loved--by Adam Cole, by the fans, and even by the Acclaimed--so now he's using every trick in his book to get something we want him to have.
Meanwhile, White's strengths as a heel aren't simply having the balls to get the cheapest heat possible, even if that's all he had to do in New Japan. What makes him stand out is that he's cold and calculating. He's too heartless to be distracted by his personal sentiment, which makes it easier for him to spot those weaknesses in an opponent and strategically exploit them. Max wants to be in your head to feel like a big shot; Jay wants to be in your head to dismantle you.
So now Max, the biggest cheater in AEW, is headed into a battle of cheaters, and the story is that he's the underdog, because Jay has stayed one step ahead at every turn. They've done such a great job with this that I almost believe Jay should get the title. Almost. Because at the same time, they've done an even better job building up Samoa Joe as the next challenger. And that story--that the invincible Joe will watch Max's back in exchange for a title match that Max can't win--is too good to disrupt by taking the title off of MJF. One way or another, I think the champ retains tonight.
Christian Cage & Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne vs. Adam Copeland & Sting & Darby Allin - Cage and Lucha have been feuding with Allin and Sting for months. Things escelated on October 1 when Darby's protege Nick Wayne betrayed him to align with Christian, and Adam Copeland debuted with AEW to stop the heels from injuring Sting.
Copeland is best known for his hall-of-fame career in WWE as Edge, which included seven tag team championships alongside Christian. The team broke up in 2001, although they've had more than a few reunions. Aside from battle royales, this is the first time these two have been on opposite sides of the ring since 2010. This is obviously building to a one-on-one match, probably for the AEW TNT title, so don't expect them to settle anything here.
The other big factor in this match is that Sting recently announced plans to retire in a few months. Ric Flair recently debuted with AEW to participate in Sting's final run, and he's going to be in the babyfaces' corner for this match. I suppose Flair doesn't have to turn on Sting, but their history suggests that he's totally going to turn on Sting. Sting hasn't been on the losing side of a match in eight years, but it may be about time for that to change. I could easily see Wayne or Allin getting pinned in this match, depending on what shenanigans happen.
Orange Cassidy vs. Jon Moxley - Cassidy's AEW international title is on the line. Moxley already beat Orange for the title on September 3, but within a few weeks a legit in-ring injury forced an unplanned title change to Rey Fenix. Mox was scheduled for a rematch with Fenix on October 10, but when he couldn't get medical clearance, Cassidy stepped in and regained the title. So even though Orange is once again the defending champion, it feels more like he's the challenger seeking to avenge a crushing defeat two months ago.
Very little has changed since the first bout. Moxley still thinks he can crush Cassidy like a bug, and Orange still has to prove he can weather the storm. If the original plan was a long Moxley title reign with Cassidy chasing him for six months, they could have him win again to get back on track. Or if the plan was for Cassidy to win back the title in the second match, he could simply retain here to set up an epic rubber match. I definitely think Orange needs to win the war, but that doesn't mean he has to win this battle. This could go either way.
Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho vs. Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson - The Golden Jets (Omega and Jericho) have been teaming up of late to fight their mutual enemies in the Don Callis Family, but Matt and Nick aren't happy about it. If the Bucks win this match, the Jets must disband as a team; but if the Jets win, they receive the AEW tag title shot the Bucks earned back on October 1.
The last time Kenny and a partner faced the Bucks, the partner was Adam Page and it was a match of the year candidate. Jericho is not Page, obviously, but even if you think he totally sucks, he doesn't suck enough to keep this match from being great.
It's only been six months since Kenny and the Bucks reconciled with Page, to get the Elite all together again for the first time in three years. So I don't understand the logic of having the Bucks turn on Kenny for no real reason. The only thing that makes sense is to build to Matt and Nick against Omega and Kota Ibushi. So it stands to reason the Bucks will win this match to remove Jericho from the equation.
Hikaru Shida vs. Toni Storm - This is for Shida's AEW women's world title. Shida won the title from Storm on August 2, but she lost it on August 27 in a four-way when Storm was pinned by her own ally, Saraya. Storm failed to recover the title from Saraya on September 20, but Shida dethroned Saraya on October 10. So yeah, Toni has been having a tough time of late, in case you were wondering why she flipped out and reinvented herself as an old-timey movie star.
Toni's over-the-top gimmick may be the best thing going in the division right now, so you can make the argument she should be the top champion. On the other hand, that would mean feeding your top women to what is essentially a comedy act. I think my preference would be to keep her on TV but out of the title picture, to expand the footprint of the women's division. But I never understand AEW's priorities with the women, so I can't predict this one.
Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland - This is billed as a Texas death match, and I always forget exactly which version of the rules AEW uses. I think you can win by submission or if your opponent stays down for a ten-count. Regardless, the main idea is that the wrestlers can brawl all over the place and use all sorts of weapons.
These two had a big match on October 1, which Strickland won. For some reason that didn't end the feud, so Strickland upped the ante by invading Page's home, so now Page is out for blood. I wasn't wild about the build to the first match, and this time the whole thing feels even more superfluous. Page hit the nail on the head in one of his promos--Strickland should have taken the win in their first match, and moved on to chasing the world title, but instead they're still fighting each other for no particularly good reason.
I can't see Page losing this match, but I also don't see the point of doing this feud if Strickland isn't going to get the last laugh. So something tells me this match won't settle anything, and they'll run it back again next month.
Ricky Starks & Big Bill vs. Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler vs. Malakai Black & Brody King vs. Rush & Dralistico - Starks and Bill are putting the AEW tag championship up for grabs. This is a ladder match, so the tag belts will be hung above the ring and ladders will be placed at ringside--the only rule is that the first man to pull down the belts will win the match and the tag title for his team. In theory you'd need to climb a ladder to get the belts, but something tells me Ricky will try standing on Bill's shoulders at least once.
FTR (Dax and Cash) lost the tag title to Starks and Bill on October 7, so they're trying to reclaim the gold. The Kings of the Black Throne (Black and King) seem to have targeted FTR, although they've also targeted half a dozen other people. Case in point, they gave La Faccion Ingobernable enough grief that they kinda turned babyface to help FTR, so Rush and Dralistico are here to represent LFI.
It probably doesn't make a big difference who wins this match, because I expect the winners to be underdogs when they defend against the winners of tonight's Young Bucks-Golden Jets match. So yeah, let's just go with Starks and Bill to retain.
Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart vs. Skye Blue - This is a three-way, so the first woman to score a fall will win the match and Statlander's AEW TBS title. I like all three women, but this match seems kind of pointless. Hart beat Blue on September 20, Statlander beat Hart on October 1, and Statlander beat Blue on October 14. Julia qualified for this match by beating Willow Nightingale (whom Statlander already beat) and Skye qualified by beating Red Velvet (who never beats anybody). This is why the women's division needs to have more depth, people.
The only good reason to do this match is that Julia sprayed Skye in the face with black mist. Everybody figured Blue would then turn to the dark side, but thus far she seems to not like Julia or Kris. So it's not clear where any of this is going, and we just have to hope doing this match will settle it somehow.
I get the feeling they've got an idea to do a title change here. I'd be cool with Hart or Blue getting the big win, although I'd prefer to see it happen in a straight one-on-one victory. I guess I'll root for Julia, since she's been killin' it lately.
Eddie Kingston vs. Jay Lethal - This is set for the pre-show. Kingston lost a Memphis street fight to Jeff Jarrett on October 21, which means he has to defend the ROH men's world title against Lethal, because nothing in the Jarrettverse makes any fucking sense. Eddie is also the STRONG men's champion, but that title isn't at stake here. I'm sure the heels will do all their usual cheap heat shit, and it won't matter and Eddie will just clobber them to retain. But...I suppose Lethal could win to set up a rematch at the ROH pay-per-view next month. So you never know.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Buddy Matthews - Another pre-show match. Basically Buddy was clobbering Wheeler Yuta last night and Claudio ran in for the save and issued a challenge for this match. I assume this is leading to Claudio, Yuta, and Jon Moxley vs. Buddy, Malakai Black, and Brody King eventually, but they sure aren't in a hurry to get there. Claudio will probably win here.
MJF & Samoa Joe vs. Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn - The Gunns are challenging for the ROH tag title in the pre-show. MJF and Adam Cole are the titleholders, although Cole has been sidelined with an ankle injury since September 20. Max insists on defending the title until Cole returns, and Joe has graciously offered to help him in exchange for an AEW men's world title match. I wouldn't give the Gunns very good odds against either MJF or Joe, but against MJF and Joe they haven't got a prayer.

alright so! im not gonna bother with a very organized post i wouldnt be me if i did but here are my collision thoughts!
i liked the theme song, which sets it apart from dynamite and rampage in that it isnt dogshit. i also liked the set and the presentation, although i wouldve loved if it was more distinct from dynamite (also i miss the tunnels) but overall they made a great job of adhering to the companys aesthetic while making a new distinct looking product. i also was hoping since its live on tnt that they would have different editors, this clearly isnt the case, editing was shit. not a collision issue aew just needs better editors.
i agree with everyone on this, commentary was a little rough. i didnt really know nigel before (i never have time for roh) so i didn't know what to expect and he and kevin obviously need time to figure out how theyre gonna work together, and kevin also clearly struggled with the american format (ad breaks, promos between matches etc). overall it is still better than dynamite commentary and i have high hopes for them! not even Hoarse Corpse Jr at the main could take them down to his level.
i'll admit i didn't fully watch punk's promo at the start, im a notorious promo skipper but i watched most of it, and it seemed alright to me. there was a bit of dissonance between how they seem to be bringing him back as a heel but being in chicago didnt get the response to his speech that he wouldve gotten elsewhere.
super excited about everyone showing up on the show if this is for real a roster split they picked some good fucking people for collision! jurys out on scorpio sky ive only ever seen him with frankie kazarian and i dont like kaz so
all the matches were good, even the tnt match i wasnt at all interested in was kind of like watchable and christian pretending he won the tnt title was really funny so ill let him have this. andrade and buddy were pretty incredible and miro looked fucking huge and awesome so ill forgive tony nese being there. skyewillow vs the outcasts slapped altho i wish they yknow. had more than one womens match. but it was really good skye looked incredible she and willow worked great together and im so happy she got the pin! i really hope skye and willow continue teaming together. also the outcats r much more enjoyable when saraya is not there, i love their over the top heel antics tbh
the main was good! sadly i dont give a shit about ftr and juice so it was kind of a struggle but they are good (well ftr are) i just dont like em. anyway punk looked good he was moving well and i thought it was well paced and everyone got their due time in the spotlight (being in the ring w punk)
overall this was a very solid start to this show, obviously we know aew can put on a good show but its the question of whether they are able to keep this momentum going. good wrestlers and a nice new look doesnt make the show good immediately, so im a little hesitant to say anything more about its impact right now but i had fun

Not to work myself into a shoot but.... Yeah Punk really screwed up everything in AEW didnt he? I called it way back he shouldnt win the title he should have gone for TNT title and had a short but good reign putting over the young guys (like he stated in his first promo) but no. TK put the big belt on him and he gets injured. He comes back and wins it only to act up and burn the entire place down around him. Now everyone had to scramble and put the pieces back together and ya know what? Even though tonight was great I cant help but think where we would be if he just would have stayed king of the mid card. Still a draw but stepped aside to let everyone flurish. But I guess with an ego that big he never really was going to do that. That promo last year was a lie. He said it in the media scrum hes tired of these prick kids. He wasnt here to help anyone. He was here for himself all along. And as his biggest supporter im mad. I'm just mad. Been proud for year to share a birthday with you Punk but not this year.
