i'd give you everything ‧₊˚✩彡
acts of service prompts
⇴ person a is lying in bed but has to get up and get their computer for work. while hearing person a complain, person b gets up and grabs the computer for person a (midrant).
⇴ "let me pay you back." "no." "no? why?" "because i love you."
⇴ person a is slumped asf and their head is in an uncomfortable position on their pillow. person b gently lifts person a's head up and places it comfortably on person b's shoulder/bicep.
⇴ person b is not very vocal about how they love, so they tend to show person a that they love them with actions. person b always covers the corner of the table, walks on the side of the sidewalk, and puts a hand over person a's head when there's rain (and no umbrella).
⇴ "shit, i forgot to grab an umbrella. i didn't know it was raining" (sad face). "it's okay" (grabs jacket and puts it over a or puts a hand over a's head while running through the rain together)
⇴ grocery shopping but person b is putting everything in the bags in specific categories based on different factors so person a doesn't have stress about where anything is placed (just me?)
⇴ person b finishes up a project for person a because person a is on the verge of collapse ("when did i finish this??" and person b is just like "last night")
⇴ person a knowing that person b doesn't take care of themselves, so person a comes over to person b's house and brings them a care box. it's filled with all their favorite snacks/drinks (bonus points if person b didn't tell them what their favorites were, person a just knew).
⇴ "if you need anything, don't even hesitate to ask."
⇴ "are you kidding? you thought you needed to ask?" (percabeth anyone??)
⇴ person a & b are sitting around together, until b notices that a is shivering. they get up and sprint towards their shared room, grabbing a blanket and wrapping a in it.
⇴ ^^ "get in here too" with a cheeky cute smile that b cannot help but swoon over. it's like their heart is about to rupture out of their chest after looking at a's smile. they feel a grin break across their face as they snuggle up to a.
⇴ person a always drives around person b, even if it's inconvenient for their schedule. to person a, they'd rather take the long road and get to do something for b.

🗡️ You give so much to others
It’s time someone gave back to you 🗡️ acts of service and fluff prompts
Character A hates washing the dishes and Character B hates cooking, so they do those things for each other
“You don’t have to do anything to pay me back. Your happiness is more than enough.”
A is going through a major depressive episode and B comes by to help clean their room and give them company
B sets up candles, a warm bath, and dim lighting for A to relax in after a stressful work event
B carpools with A a lot. They notice the gas tank is running low and plant a $20 bill in the console for A to find later (B vehemently denies ever putting it there, but A absolutely knows)
A is sick and B goes out of their way to grab medicine and extra tissues to drop off at A’s doorstep
After A ends up in the hospital, B makes sure A’s place stays clean, their pets are fed and taken care of, and that A will have nothing to worry about when they are well again
B automatically sets aside a larger portion for A’s meals because they know that A will be hungrier than they expect
A is sensitive to light and B buys blackout curtains for their room so they can sleep better
“I’ll handle this! You go have fun, I’ll be there in a second.”
B will always pick A up after they travel internationally for work so A can sleep and recover from jet lag
B covers the corner of sharp tables for A (listen it’s just THE SWEETEST thing I’ve seen done for someone ack)
A is busy putting on makeup, so B gently detangles and does their hair (and it’s not as simple as just putting their hair into a ponytail, I’m talking weaves and braids and intricate designs that show B paid attention to this)
“Let me take care of it.”
A complains about their back or neck pain so B gives them a massage (mainly to stop their complaining LOL)
B will occasionally take A’s bath towel while A showers and run it through the dryer so it’s nice and warm when A gets out
A is anxious about finances (they just got a new job) and B helps them work through it and understand all the confusing things
A’s new apartment is not on the first floor and the elevator is out of order, so B moves the big furniture for A up all those flights of stairs
Chronic pain makes it difficult for A to leave the house sometimes, but B makes sure they never run out of medication by picking up A’s prescriptions
“You really didn’t have to do that for me.” “Well, I wanted to. Now you don’t have to do it!”

tips for setting the scene
it’s easy to get caught up in dialogue or a character’s internal dialogue and forget altogether that they, too, exist in their own physical world. as authors, it’s primarily our job to convey the exact amount of information: the reader is on a need to know basis, but they also need to know enough to draw their own conclusions. i’ll admit, it’s a difficult task, but here are some tips to help set a scene:
- imagine the world from the eyes of your character: how do they see things? do they see the big picture first or are they drawn to smaller details that others don’t often notice? what’s pulling their attention away from the action or their own thoughts?
- breathe life into your scenes: i don’t mean the english teacher’s equivalent of “the curtains were blue means that the character is sad.” i’m talking about the blue filter in Twilight that conveys the “constant cover of clouds and rain” and the shift from the Arizona desert to the cool Pacific Northwest. think about all the small details that convey information about a scene and allow the readers to make inferences. if the character walks along a street and the yards shift from overgrown hedges with frayed yard chairs and a birdbath containing a mini swamp to yards with freshly cut grass with white picket fences and ornate wreathes hanging on the doors, you’re providing all of the details for readers to make an inference. context is needed, too, but that will be provided in the whole of your novel or short story. don’t be afraid to provide details and use figurative language.
- spread out your details: did you feel bombarded in the last tip? i provided a lot of details quickly, all at once, without spreading them between action, dialogue, or internal dialogue. i’m not going to stop you from being the next J.R.R. Tolkien if that’s how you like to write, but try not to overwhelm the reader with details all at once. it will feel more natural if you spread things out and allow the reader to feel as if they, too, are with the character in their environment. this is more of a stylistic tip, so take it with a grain of salt and think about what will work best for your novel. always go back to that and to what your character is seeing. how is this all playing out for them? how can you put feeling into the scene?
- place your characters within the scene: where are they in their environment? how are they interacting with the people or objects in it? what do they think about these things? you don’t need to tell the reader everything your character does, but provide enough information so that we don’t get lost in their movement or stagnation. it helps to have someone else read your work if you’re struggling with this part. if they’re lost as to where the character is or what they’re doing, chances are a good portion of your readers will be confused, too. check out your prepositions. are there too many? too few? use them, but don’t abuse them.
happy writing! if you need help setting a scene or have any questions, our ask box is always open!

I keep thinking about the perfect answer you had to my Joan the service cat request and I want to add Ozzy deciding that Steve + knives is a bad idea and Eddie just casually living his life when all of the sudden his husband’s dog has A KNIFE. Because Ozzy keeps stealing them and bringing them to Eddie. He just sighs and is like “what do I do about this?”
Tumblr media
Oh my god, Ozzy is that dog in that video where the owner pretends to choke and falls to the ground, and the dog immediately grabs a knife.
The visual image in my mind is this:
Even though they built a recording studio in their basement, Eddie is playing guitar on live in their living room because it’s cold down there. You can hear Steve in the background, cooking dinner in the kitchen.
So Eddie is strumming along, talking to his fans in the chat, and it’s casual. It’s fun. Someone asks Eddie how him and Steve stay so normal unlike other celebrities.
Eddie goes to answer the question when he hears Steve say “Oz, shit. Ed!” and then there’s a dog jumping up onto the couch with a knife in his mouth. Eddie looks dead into the camera and says, “We’re not normal.”
Eddie’s live one night in his studio and Ozzy comes down the stairs, nudges Eddie until he looks up and then drops a pair of scissors into his hand. It’s a seamless exchange.
A couple days later, Eddie posts a Tiktok where he’s like, “So, Steve had a bit of a cooking accident a couple weeks ago. Had to get stitches. Some of you asked about the bandage on his hand, that was it but, uh…”
The whole time Eddie’s talking, you hear what sounds like a hostage negotiation happening where Steve is just like, ‘drop it. Drop the knife. You don’t need to do this.’ When Eddie flips the camera around, it is Steve trying to get this knife from their dog. He does listen to Steve when he tells him to put the knife down but every time Steve tries to pick it up, Ozzy gets in his way and prevents him.
“But now,” Eddie continues, getting off the couch and picking up the knife. Ozzy lets him do it with no interference. “Now, Oz doesn’t trust Steve with sharp objects and keeps stealing them. Anybody with a service dog know what to do here?”
Eddie flips the knife in his hand and cuts himself, “Ow.”

Human: ugh, I should quit. The higher-ups are such—
*communicator sounds*
Human, with a business smile: Hello, chief, how can I assist?
Alien: *stares in confusion*
Human: any time, truely! *communicator turns off* ugh, what a prick
Alien: ???

I've had this ridiculous g/t brainrot situation stuck in my head for YEARS.
A borrower lives in a busy house where they have a hard time actually borrowing (maybe a couple with kids, and there's just always SOMEONE home). It's frustrating, especially given that there's always so much food in the house, and GOOD food too.
After a close call with almost getting caught they've had enough. Anything is better than this cruel situation. They get to thinking...
Just where did human food come from?
They didn't all farm or make their own food, and they seemed to talk a lot about going "shopping" where they'd bring back unfathomable goods from their outings.
There.
That's where they wanted to relocate.
They call on a favor from a local nomadic borrower they trade with, some oddball eccentric character that gets around via birds. They manage to figure out where to go by examining the logo on receipt paper and recognizing the same logo on a building.
They drop them off in the dead of night, telling them they'll try to pop by on occasion for trading and wishing them luck. The borrower manages to find a way in and is awe.
There's more food than they could ever imagine, and theirs rows upon rows. They spend the night exploring and eating, eventually passing out behind some boxed merchandise.
Morning comes far too soon.
They awake to the sounds of humans.
Lots of humans.
They keep behind the boxes as merchandise slowly begins disappearing off the shelf with each passerby unaware of the sheer horror theyre inflicting.
The day drags on, with the shelves becoming increasingly bare, leaving gaping patches with little cover to hide.
Suddenly, their last bastion of cover is stripped away, reveling a started human wearing the store logo. The odd pair freeze, staring blankly at one another. The employee blinks, and clears their throat awkwardly,
"Uh- hi, can I help you?"

Danny, Jazz, and their parents all go to Gotham for some reason, most likely something sciencey or related to Jazz and college, IDC.
(Danny has only been in Gotham for a single afternoon and he’s already had 4 people attempt to mug him, almost been run over, and walked through what he’s pretty sure was a gang fight. But the weirdest thing that had to have happened to him so far has been the multiple random people keep giving him weird looks and asking if he’s okay way to often for Gotham don’t-trust-people City. It must be his Fenton luck.)
After all the randomness Gotham throws at Danny he like most teenagers exhausted and hungry late at night goes to get fast food. He walks into Batburger (it’s a Gotham staple he wants to know how it compares to the Nasty Burger) and the cashier stares at Danny as he orders like 12 peoples worth of food for him and Jazz.
The cashier, a literal midnight shift customer service worker asks Danny if he’s okay. Danny even more annoyed about people asking that just let’s out an exaggerated sigh and says something about being “just tired and hungry.” The cashier, who is not paid enough for this drops it, rings Danny up, and gives him an order number.
Danny’s order takes a while so he just leans on a wall and surfs the web, maybe messages Jazz or Sam and Tucker. Just vibes, leaning on the Batburger wall.
Eventually some of the bats shows up mid patrol to get something to eat and all pause in the doorway. Causing Danny to look up from his phone and see all of them looking right at him. Danny an annoyed teenager just asks them what they’re looking at.
One of them breaking out of the awkwardness asks Danny if he’s okay. Danny who’s been asked that 15+ times in the last 45 minutes just yells “Why do people keep asking me that?!?”
One of the bats responds with something like “… because you have a knife in your stomach.”
Danny looks down and sees that yes he does have a knife in him and just didn’t notice it. His only response is something along the lines of “Oh, I liked this hoodie.”
The bats are thinking this kids in shock or something and Danny’s just thinking that now he has a free knife because he’ll be healed in a day or so at most.
Danny’s order number gets called, he gets his food, and he just walks away ghosting the concerned bats.

(@scribesynnox) now THIS is actually kind of something i've been wanting to do for a while! sort of steampunk-esque submas outfits inspired by klinklang, bc 1) i love steampunk character designs and 2) i dont think people appreciate klinklang enough </3
initially this was gonna be a sort of. sygna suit kind of deal, yknow the pokemon masters ex outfits, but it ended up being a lot less klinklang-y than i initially wanted.
the fact emmet looks arceus-themed was VERY unintentional, i only realized after i finished. now i kind of imagine instead of just being clock caretakers, they're some kind of interdimensional repair service, helping take care of minor problems in the flow of time in arceus and dialga's stead.

🗡️ “That time of the month again?”
because we all know that periods suck and characters are not immune to the horrors 🗡️ prompt list of comforting actions
Character A is bedridden from the cramps and Character B becomes their living heating pad (cuddles with arms wrapped around the waist >>>>)
B buys A their favorite chocolates a couple days before their period starts and keeps beverages with electrolytes on hand
A takes a day off to rest, bingewatch some episodes of a good show, and care for themselves (maybe do some yoga, and by yoga I mean curl up in the fetal position for a couple hours)
B thinks that making a nice bath for A will help and prepares everything for when A gets home (A laughs and explains why that’s not a great idea)
Searching for Shark Week’s episodes online to deal with shark week in person, but getting distracted by cute animal shows
B can’t be there for A in person so they send A $30 to cover extra snacks and/or medicine
Instead of getting emotional over posts online, A digs out an old book series and gets emotional over that (they are reliving their childhood, they swear it’s cathartic THEY SWEAR)
A can’t sleep with the back pain so B gives them a light back massage with several check-ins to make sure the noises are in relief and not pain
B keeps the lights dim and and TV volume low as A battles a headache
All meals are made with ahead of time and cravings humored (“You can’t just eat straight salt.” “I know that, which is why I’m putting all of it on this.”)
A asks for B to get more pads/tampons at the store, B calls and sends many pictures as they try to figure out what will work best for A
B quietly scrubs out any bloodstains from A’s clothes as they do laundry (and they’re really efficient at it, why are they so good at getting blood out of clothing—)
A snuggling up with their pet who knows the exact spot to be in for maximum comfy (B thinks it’s adorable and takes a picture to show A later)
“I’m sorry if I’m not really conversational right now…” “Dude you’re on your period and barely slept last night, you’re good. We don’t have to talk, we can just chill.”
B brings home a machine for homemade ice-cream and all the ingredients needed for A’s favorite flavor (they spend the evening making it and declare a “dessert before dinner” day for when periods strike)

Ghost Helpline Part 1
Constantine wasn’t upset no no of course not … he was fucking pissed!!!
How on earth was this his life now??? He grabbed as many totems and charms as he could. They were going to need as much luck as they could get their hands on.
-
“Bloody fucking Hell this is by far the worst idea I have ever heard and I want absolutely no part of it!!!”
“John”
“Don’t you John me Z! This is obviously a bad idea!!!”
WonderWoman sighed, “We understand the risks but we are out of options.”
“Pppfff as if we wanted you here in the first place pal”
“Hal!”
“What it’s true if this spell? Summoning? Offering? What ever the hell it’s called didn’t require two magicians we would have just let Zatanna do it!”
“Stop it everyone we cannot be fighting amongst ourselves right now! We have to be ready for anything that happens and whoever decides to help us.” Superman crossed his arms. “Uh question, I get the whole dabbling in magical creatures equal bad but uhhh who or what are we doing exactly?” Wally said offhandedly to Robin(Dick)
“That’s just the thing … we don’t know this Circle is essentially an open invitation to anyone who can help us,” Zatanna sighed “Which means we have to be ready for the worst including whatever it is this creature may want in exchange.” “Oh yeah,” John huffed “Our first born, blood of a virgin, Superman’s soul totally nothing we need to worry about or take to mean We. should. Not. Do. this! !”
Batman ‘cleverly’ choose that moment to walk in, “Alright then start it up.”
Magic is always hard to describe; the colors, and motion like something out a fantasy but this ? This was inexplicable as the candles rose to the ceiling, smoke filled their eyes and the sound of, well -some kind- of animal shook their ears. Then as fast as it came it was gone, as they adjusted to the scene they saw who now occupied the middle of the circle.
Horns
“Bollocks it just had to be a devil.”
Black hair sloppily put into twin buns, held together by … twine???
Superman’s eyebrows creased in slight confusion.
Tan skin painted black in the pattern of an old broken glass on their arms.
Flash stilled next to his nephew.
A scar from a blade ran across one half of their face.
WonderWoman lowered her lasso.
Gold eyes.
Zatanna felt uncomfortable.
There in the circle stood what they would all guess to be a 12 maybe 14 year old???
Batman’s stomach suddenly felt uncomfortable.
“What the ….-“
“Hello Mortals! You have reached the Infinite Realms HelpLine! You may call me Konstelacio! How may I be of assistance?”

write EVERY DAY. here's how.
where inspiration fails, habit will always have your back. this is why it's important to build writing into your life as a habit, if you ever want to finish a project or improve your skills.
back in 2018, i (nat) was a college student without much going for me. i was feeling creatively stifled and insecure and like i didn't have TIME to write good. and i was right. i didn't have time to write GOOD. but i did have time to write SOMETHING. so that january, i built the habit. i wrote every single day in 2018, and almost every single day since.
because once you establish the habit, it becomes safer to skip a day (or three days) here and there. you will at least THINK about writing every day, even if you go straight from work to social plans to bed, or you're on vacation, or you're too sick to write. and that thinking is part of the habit!
here are the tips i followed to make this happen.
-pick a reasonable goal. starting off, mine was 300 words. now, i don't follow a goal, because the habit is so solid i don't need to. but 300 words is easy and quick. and if you give a pig a pancake, they'll probably have days where they write 500, 1000, even 3k words.
-log your word count. this is interesting to look back on every new year's eve, and it provides accountability. do this however you like; a spreadsheet, a physical notebook, a note in your phone, each day's section in your planner, whatever works for you. i have a channel in my personal discord server where i log mine.
-do NOT edit as you go. just write write write. if you feel like something you wrote needs work, yeah, it probably does-- everything needs to be edited, but that's a problem for later. highlight sentences you can't get right or make note of them to edit LATER. but do not edit as you go!
-write self-indulgent crap. fanfiction, shitty poetry, manifestos, rants, self insert fantasy romance, whatever floats your boat. having a shitty self-indulgent backup story to work on when i didn't feel like writing for the projects i cared about really helped get me in the habit. write for an audience of one!
-journal if you can't write. this may not necessarily build your skill as much as writing regular prose would, but it does help you maintain the habit and it can be useful in lots of other ways.
-think outside the box. write trivia questions. write a list of your favorite childhood toys. write a review of the book you're reading. i'm writing this post, that's going toward my word count for the day. again, this is still writing, and it helps maintain the habit.
-get comfortable writing on your phone. this took me a long time, but making it over this hurdle has saved my habit so many times.
you'll be surprised at the cool shit you end up writing on those days when you swore you weren't inspired enough. and you'll be delighted with how much progress you will make honing your craft!
happy writing! if you have any questions about how to implement any of these tips, our ask box is always open.

How are our lovely Ozzy and Joan dealing with the tension in the household? Are they on protective comfort mode?
Ozzy and Joan – much like all of Eddie’s Tiktok followers – are very aware of the tension in the house. They provide their humans with comfort and support the only way they know how.
Steve is and will always be Ozzy’s first priority and for the last month, Steve has been stressed out, upset, and at time, borderline inconsolable. Ozzy is doing what he can to provide Steve with what he needs, but he’s in an awkward position.
One the things that he does when Steve gets overwhelmed and upset like this, is find a person that can help console him. The only other person in the house is Eddie and Eddie contributing to Steve’s emotional distress. So, Ozzy is providing Steve with tactile stimulation when he’s overwhelmed with his emotions, a physical presence when he’s too in his head, and helps Steve through the absence seizures he’s been having due to stress.
The only benefit to this situation is that when Steve gets like this, he just starts mentally shutting down and tends to stay on the couch or in bed. Steve is fairly active so at least he’s not on a jog or handling sharp objects when the likelihood of a seizure is high.
Once Steve goes to bed or takes a nap, Ozzy will check on Eddie and provide what he thinks Eddie needs. It’s typically comfort. Eddie seems to relax more when he is doing something with his hands and petting Ozzy gives him that. It also helps relax Eddie knowing that if Ozzy is with him than Steve is fine.
Joan tends to run and hide when the screaming starts and only comes out when it’s done. She’ll find whatever human that Ozzy is not with and typically just headbutts them until they pet her. Joan doesn’t have Ozzy’s training so she doesn’t pick up on all the nuance, but she picks up enough to know that her presence is helpful.
With Steve, she tends to just lay on him because Steve won’t move if she does that. Ozzy is often trying to get Steve to sit down or stay where he’s at when he’s post-ictal, so she thinks that this is helpful (It is, hearing her purr while laying on his chest always makes Steve feel better).
With Eddie, she’s more hands on. She will weave between his legs or paw at him. She’ll reach up and rub her face against his. She lets him pet her and hold her, and meows in response when he talks. It gives Eddie an audience to vent his feelings to which is exactly what he needs.
