Jalz Poster art
"The Azadi (“Freedom”) tower is one of Tehran’s most recognisable 20th-century landmarks. Built under the reign of the last Shah of Iran, it was finished in 1971 and named Shahyad Tower (Shah Memorial Tower). Following the 1979 revolution, associations with royalty were swiftly removed. Now, it’s being associated with freedom from the very regime which renamed it.
The Iranian graphic designer Jalz has drawn on the tower for one of his designs in support of the recent protest movement. “This is the sole image of Iran’s freedom,” argues Jalz. Combining an image of the tower with Matisse’s dancers and the “women, life, freedom” protest slogan which is so central to the movement, he wanted to complete the sense of freedom for the female body."
– From ‘Something in me sparked’: the Iranian women using art to protest, The Guardian

My country is extremely queerphobic in a "traditional" kind of way but I will always love my mom for going like "I'm religious and these people are not because they use the name of god to spread hate and hurt people" and she doesn't get all of the queer stuff and probably never will but boy did she get this bit right!

Time magazine wrote: 'Ignoring orders from the Labour Party and prominent British Labour leaders, half a million British proletarians liberally sprinkled with Jews went on an anti-fascist rampage last week which turned out to be London's biggest riot in years.'

Reformation Day 2023
Today is Reformation Day, the day some 500 years ago that dramatically impacted the Christian church. If you attend a non-Roman Catholic church that proclaims faith in Jesus for salvation, you can thank God for THIS Day.
Tumblr media
Martin Luther, the father of modern day faith based preaching, chose this day, October 31st, all Hallows Eve, a CHRISTIAN holiday when Christians prepared themselves to celebrate All Saints Day on November 1st, to proclaim that salvation only comes through faith in Christ.

Police in Paris clashed with protesters on Thursday after President Emmanuel Macron decided to force through his controversial pension reform without calling a vote in France's lower house of parliament. Thousands of people protested the move on the streets of Paris and other French cities. In Paris, police used tear gas and water cannon to clear protesters who demonstrated at the Place de la Concorde, outside of parliament, lighting a bonfire. Even after they were dispersed, some protesters started fires and damaged shop fronts in side streets. Macron used a constitutional power enabling the government to bypass lawmakers.

reminder that now until next sunday is the global strike for palestine called by bisan! don’t purchase anything other than necessities (or anything at all if you can avoid it), donate to organizations like the palestinian children’s relief authority or e-sims for gaza with money you would have used for coffee or something similar, attend prostests (masked) if possible, and continue to amplify the voices of palestinians on social media!
