For five straight days last week, Native American and environmental justice advocates took to the streets of Washington to demand that the Biden administration act swiftly to curb planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions and block new fossil fuel projects, including the controversial Line 3 oil pipeline in Minnesota. The Indigenous-led protests were organized by a coalition of groups called Build Back Fossil Free, a nod to President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Plan.
The five-day protest did include clashes. More than 600 people were arrested, according to organizers, mostly on obstruction and crowding charges. At least three demonstrators were charged with assault against a police officer, The Washington Post reported, although details of those alleged assaults have not been released. And “multiple injuries were sustained by security personnel” when protesters staged a sit-in at the Interior Department’s headquarters on Oct. 14, agency spokeswoman Melissa Schwartz said in a statement. One officer reportedly was transported to the hospital.
But to equate last week’s desperate calls for federal action to stave off potentially catastrophic planetary warming to the pro-Trump mob that descended on U.S. Capitol in an effort to thwart the 2020 presidential election and undermine American democracy is “a ridiculous and false comparison,” said Jean Su, energy justice director for environmental group Center for Biological Diversity.

Tumblr recently announced a new feature called Post+ meant to help content creators make money while keeping a cut to help maintain the site. Not a bad idea, right?
The problem is that tumblr actively encouraged the use of Post+ in conjunction with fan works. Which is, despite the way they continue to side step it, highly illegal. Not enough people are aware of that fact.
Our mission is to force tumblr to either rebrand the Post+ feature as something for original content ONLY and/or offer a means to help the site survive outside of monetizing fan work. We want the see tumblr thrive but Post+ has the potential for ruining everything. Give us a better option, @staff ! In fact, HERE are some options!
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?
Optional avatar and banner to use!

Banner credit to @adairctedgibbgirl ! Thank you!
If the banner doesn’t size correctly, this this post HERE!
You can also spread the word on ALL social media (Twitter/TikTok/Facebook/Reddit etc) and reblog this post. You can also look at this post HERE for more ideas. Another option, if you’re using the mobile app, is to leave an honest review (be polite, be concise, don’t spam) on the App Store of your choice! The best and easiest way to protest is DON’T USE POST+!
WILL THIS WORK?
We got tumblr to temporarily hide the original Post+ posts and possibly made wip a thing. So who knows?
ANYTHING ELSE?
Keep checking @postplus-protest for updates and further info, especially updates to this post! Thank you, all of you, for participating or boosting!
Remember to reblog, use the hashtags #postplusprotest and #tumblrlogoff2021, and SPREAD THE WORD TO OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA!

“The police don’t target black people,” says the white person.
“LGBTQ+ people have plenty of protection,” says the straight, cisgender person.
“Women don’t feel harassed at work,” says the man.
“Poor people don’t need more government help,” says the rich person.
“Immigrants feel welcome here,” says the natural-born citizen.
Please stop invalidating the concerns of people who have problems that you’re not experiencing. Instead, listen to them, and learn what you can do to help.

It has come to my attention that there are people that don't know about the horrors of residential schools and why we're canceling the fourth of july so I'll explain to the best of my ability.
Residential schools were institutions in which native children were held captive under the guise of educating them. These children were stolen away from their families and the goal was to "kill the indian, save the man" by eradicating native culture from these children's lives. They were forced to cut their hair, they were not allowed to speak in their native tongue nor leave to see their families. They were kept in poor living conditions conducive to illness and were punished harshly. Many children died at residential schools and their culture was stolen from them. It wasn't until 1996 when the last residential school was closed.
Tumblr media
Earlier this year a mass grave was found on the grounds of kamloops residential school, 215 bodies were discovered, some of the children as young as three. These children were stolen from their homes and never returned. There has been a call for residential schools to be searched and the children lost to residential schools to be mourned. This is happening in both canada and the united states and protests will be held on canada day and the fourth of july. To show your support you can wear orange and spread awareness.

If you can, find a protest near you and let these children's voices be heard. Thousands of innocent children were kidnapped and killed then thrown into unmarked graves. Their lives must be honored and mourned.
Remember that the fourth of july did not mark freedom for everyone.

Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It's known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you're too close, you'll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.

What just happened on CNN? Im at work and so wasn’t somewhere I could watch
Sure I’ll sum up.
So there was a very good peaceful protest by.... Lafayette Park? Right outside the White House. They were chanting, they had multiple reporters in the crowd, it was fucking CHILL, people were waiting for Trump to do a speech in the Rose Garden.
Then, out of nowhere, truly NOWHERE, the cops closed in from three directions and threw gas into the crowd. They used rubber bullets on the crowd IMMEDIATELY. One dude told the reporter “They don’t care about news, move.” They drove out the totally fucking peaceful, pre-curfew protestors.
They moved them all out, and Trump started speaking, and you could hear the fucking gas going off over his speech. CNN fucking did a splitscreen to show the peopple being shoved back as the motherfucker stood up there and said he would protect our rights and would mobilize the military against people.
Then back to the reporters, and everyone was forced further and further away. One woman on a bike told the reporter “They are getting the water cannons ready, you wanna move.”
TURNS OUT.
ALL OF THIS.
WAS BECAUSE TRUMP WANTED A PHOTO OP AT THE CHURCH ACROSS THE STREET. HE WANTED THEM OUT OF THE WAY SO HE COULD STAND WITH A BIBLE IN FRONT OF A CHURCH.
Even CNN is calling him a dictator, at 7PM.
Then the Illinois governor came out and called him a racist, xenophobic, misogynistic failure.
ETA: OH AND AFTER THE FACT one of the CNN ppl said that the cops claimed they gave three warnings to the crowd to disperse. There were reporters literally in the crowd, and didn’t mention hearing anything along those lines and where as shocked as anyone when the crowd was forced to move. So they’re fucking lying.

3.5.21. New York City
Multiple workers coalitions shut down Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges this morning. NY has denied financial assistance to unemployed and undocumented workers, failed to cancel rent, chooses not to tax the rich, and underfunds public schools.
The government’s response to COVID on all levels is now a year-long failure to contain the virus and support workers. Over half a million people nationally were left to die.

“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but fuck that. Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process, we don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones. Every black person in here remembered when another person reminded you that you were black. So none of you out there, all those protesters on the other side, protesting against what we want to do, protesting against what we want to try and achieve, burn you, this is so vital. I need you to understand how painful this shit is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn’t the case anymore, that was never the case anymore.” John Boyega at The Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park June 3rd 2020
