I saw a post talking about how we shouldn't celebrate when organizations, people, countries and etc make changes to be more accepting towards minorities or make changes that would better the world because "they should have already done that."
The ideal world we want, where everyone can live a kind and nice life, isn't going to happen in one massive swoop. It is going to come in tiny steps over many, many years. And guess what? We should celebrate each step we take. Each time something changes for the better we are closer to what we've all been dreaming of and that is something worth celebrating. If we refuse to find happiness in small victories, we won't have the strength to make it to the end.
So throw a party with some of your friends when your city council installs bike lanes. Go protest outside the shop down the street for being bigoted. Kick Karen out of the neighborhood group chat and go out for dinner with the rest. It's worth it not just in the end but to you in the present. You should, and need, to celebrate small achievements.

My Advice for France
Tumblr media
If any of the rioters arrested during the protests are in France illegally, they should be immediately deported.
Those individuals can go back and burn and loot their own country.

📍 On days like these (October 2014) “Loukanikos”, internationally known as the “Riot Dog”, passed away in Athens at the age of 10. His health was adversely affected by police asphyxiating gas and from being repeatedly kicked by cops. Remembering in our hearts our comrade in riot.

The Israeli occupation of Palestine has clearly been herding Gazans into "safe zones" that the occupation then bombs to force the survivors to relocate in a slow but steady effort to push them all out into Egypt or to their deaths yet there has not been a single fucking riot in the so-called west by the so-called left People are being forcibly marched to their deaths, facing summary executions, famine, disease, but all these fucking westerners can manage is a fucking letter writing campaign and some parades that only result in the spread of COVID because it's nearly all performative outrage.. If even 1% of these radlibs got together with friends and fought cops and burned down precincts and blockaded military bases, the Israeli occupation would lose the unmitigated support it's enjoyed from the bloodthirsty Democrats & other vaunted "enlightened" neoliberals. The genocide could be halted quickly if so-called leftists actually cared enough to stop genocide. The only people doing direct actions are also the only people I've seen consistently masking.
Western leftists have personally aided and abetted and embraced one of the largest genocides of the past century by participating in the fascist Big Lie that is the back to normal propaganda. Tens of millions are dead, with more dying every day, because Western leftists could not and would not hold to their principles and resist eugenics. Instead, they embraced Nazi positions about unmitigated spread while clutching pearls at genocides perpetrated by more overt and kinetic means. They have spread suffering, disablement, and death, but still position themselves as "friends" and "allies" to the oppressed. Their labor unions have remained virtually silent on the genocide of COVID while breaking silence largely to support the Israeli occupation. Western "leftists" are fucking worthless, broadly speaking. I am disgusted constantly by the ableism on display by those claiming to oppose one genocide while at best ignoring another, if they aren't merry participants. These deaths could all stop if y'all would fucking put on masks and riot.

state by state our civil rights & basic human rights are stripped away.
the federal government enables, codifies & otherwise remains silent.
silence = death
no one should think they can coast through an election.
resistance without representation.
we are criminals after all.

You weren’t at that protest. Neither were your friends and allies. You weren’t seen there because neither you nor your friends were filmed. You couldn’t be seen because you dressed exactly the same as all your allies, and you sure as hell didn’t let the cameras see your face. You practice digital hygiene. You go above and beyond the security you assessed the situation requires. You knew your cause was about more than clout, and you fought right because you knew that. When people asked you questions, you say you weren’t there. Hell, you didn’t even know there was a protest that day. You don’t use your real name. You know the state isn’t on your side, and you know it can’t ever be. You know your rights and you make sure your arrestors know you know them. You stay on your feet. You know your exits. You know their tactics and you know how to counter them. You trust your marshals and you read the situation. You defer to those with more experience. You protest right, and you keep fighting until you secure the rights that keep you alive and able to fight for someone else, another day.

I was at a protest, got really angry about someone being aggressive to my group, and so tried to start a riot by throwing something and yelling "RIOT!!!" Instead, it started a street rave. I ended up having a dance-off with my aunt and trying to flirt with one of the maids from Downton Abbey.

Barely a day after former President Donald Trump was indicted for the third time, some Senate Republicans are already trying to undermine the credibility of the federal judge who was randomly assigned to preside over his trial.
Here’s a detail they’re hoping you won’t notice: They unanimously voted to confirm her.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), speaking on his podcast on Wednesday, accused U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan of being “relentlessly hostile” to Trump and claimed that she has “a reputation for being far-left, even by D.C. District Court standards.”
But Cruz voted to put Chutkan into her seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in June 2014. So did every other Senate Republican when she was unanimously confirmed, 95-0.
That includes Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who nonsensically claimed Wednesday that “any conviction in D.C. against Donald Trump is not legitimate.”
“The judge in this case hates Trump,” Graham said in a Fox News interview. “You can convict Trump of kidnapping Lindbergh’s baby in D.C. You need to have a change of venue. We need a new judge. And we need to win in 2024 to stop this crazy crap.”
Aides to Cruz and Graham did not respond to requests for comment on how the senators square their votes to confirm Chutkan with their criticisms of her ability to be a fair judge.
Tuesday’s federal indictment of Trump accuses him of serious crimes related to the 2020 presidential election and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Chutkan, a Jamaica-born former assistant public defender and an appointee of former President Barack Obama, has already been overseeing cases related to the Jan. 6 attack. She’s handed out some of the most aggressive sentences yet to rioters who took part in the violence that day. Of the 11 cases that have come before her, she imposed tougher sentences than those sought by the Justice Department seven times and matched what the Justice Department was seeking four times, according to an Associated Press review.
In all 11 cases, Chutkan sentenced the defendants to prison time.
This is what is likely driving the GOP attacks on Chutkan: They know she’s not likely to go easy on Trump now.
Beyond trying to discredit the judge, some Republicans, like Graham, are parroting Trump’s absurd demand for a change of venue. The former president has called for moving his case to the “more diverse” and “politically unbiased nearby State of West Virginia!” (Virginia and Maryland are much closer to D.C., for what it’s worth.)
Not a single Republican raised concerns about Chutkan during her nomination hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee in February 2014. In fact, only one GOP member of the committee even showed up to the hearing: Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), who was only there to rave about a separate Texas judicial nominee on the schedule. He left before Chutkan was up.
Cruz and Graham were both members of the committee at the time.
Neither attended Chutkan’s hearing.
