DEATHROCK IN THE EARLY '60s? PROTO-DEATHPUNK? PROTO-MONSTER KIDS?
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a mysterious, skull-faced "proto-punk/garage/death rocker," East London, UK, c. 1963. 📸: Pic courtesy of Sam Knee of @asceneinbetween.
When the SCREAMING LORD SUTCH [AND THE SAVAGES] underground music scene of the early '60s hits you too hard -- this is what happens. Tastefully spooky stuff indeed!

James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born April 21, 1947), known professionally by his stage name, Iggy Pop, is a musician, producer, and actor who was the lead singer of the band The Stooges during the ’70s. Still, the group disbanded, and Iggy went solo, where he released several of what are now considered classic punk songs that have been featured in film and television. When Iggy performed, he would flail around on stage like most artists do now, but Iggy made it an art form. Iggy isn’t only confined to punk; his music is encompassed. He has had several different genres of music throughout his career. He worked with several artists. Iggy’s piece appeared in films and television In 2003. I know Iggy has done a lot in music, but I’ll remember him best as Mona’s dad in The Adventures of Pete and Pete. The Stooges reunited, and in 2010, they were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Iggy Pop is still a wild man performing and is one of punk’s prolific icons.
