The ebb and flow of the tide, the waxing and waning of the moons, fate was simply machinery to a kryptonian.
What did that mean when staring death in the eye?
Feels fitting to release this on the eve of an eclipse.
Part one of Clockwork is on AO3.

I’m intrigued to see how the writers are going to tackle the Janine-district storyline now that she’s taking a job there full time.
I’ve always been under the impression/speculated that Janine would go back to Abbott at the end of the season, whether that meant she took a job and then left or just simply left at the end of the fellowship.
And given that in “Panel” we got some really good breadcrumbs of the ultimate “I love teaching” realization (specifically, her looking at the pictures on the desk) and in “Alex” when Alex literally wouldn’t go to school because Janine was not there (when has anyone cared about Janine like that and told her about it? That’s major), I guess I didn’t expect her to take the job so soon.
Now I’m wondering if she would stay with the district past the end of season three (because there’s not enough time to develop a longer storyline/Quinta wants to explore Janine at the district for longer) or if they are going to have a super short arc of Janine being at the district/saying she’s going to take the job and ultimately deciding not to at the end of season three.
I trust the writers and their process, and it’ll be interesting to see what direction they’ll take. Janine is the heart and soul of the show when it comes down to it and I miss our girl at school :(

I made a little comic based on a convo a few friends and I had.
Time taken: 6 hours and 5 minutes.
What took the longest? Slide 7. Those book designs brought me to the brink of insanity (1 hour and 44 mins).
(Notes under the cut)
Before anyone asks, yes, I know Canus Major typically appears behind Orion, however, I was running out of space, so please forgive the inaccuracy.
For anybody wondering what on Earth the third drawing is, it's a interpretation of NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft's Pale Blue Dot, which was taken on February 14th, 1990.
Slide 8 represents the red string theory. In most literature, the red string is attached to two people, typically romantic lovers, who are intertwined by fate to meet. However, it can also just be a string that connects a person and all the people they'll connect with in life. It's an embodiment of fate; everybody is interlinked.
Slide 10 is one of my own photos taken from my bedroom window. I originally planned on drawing it out, however, after two hours of fiddling about and trying to make it look right, I gave up and just put the photo there; I hope it fits in fine.
@moonchild-in-blue @tonguetyd @hookedhobbies @branches-in-a-flood thought you four might like this!

my boy, my boy 💗 i am so proud of you 💗 and i know Elvis & Lisa Marie are too 💗
of course i am disappointed at the oscar’s loss BUT at the end of the day, we still won in so many other ways & areas - we’ve come a long way & it’s been quite a journey & there is SO MUCH to celebrate outside of one award - our boy & this movie was winning awards left & right all season
golden globes & baftas are HUGE win’s especially for this stage in his career plus awards are bullshit anyway i never cared or paid attention to them until now
one award does not dictate or null the success, impact & love this movie has cultivated
art in any form is subjective
to paraphrase my other fav boy, Harry Styles’ grammy speech:
“I think on nights like tonight it’s important for us to remember there is no such thing as ‘best’ in music art. I don’t think any of us sit in the studio on set making decisions on what is going to get us one of these [awards],”
and Jon Batiste’s speech:
"I believe this to my core, there is no best musician, best artist, best dancer, best actor - the creative arts are subjective and they reach people at a point in their lives when they need it most. It's like a song or an album is made and it's almost like it has a radar to find the person when they need it the most."
and the movie, austin & elvis certainly found us when we needed it the most - i whole heartedly believe that 💗
it might be the end of an era, but there is a new beginning on the horizon & i can’t wait to be there with you all 🌅💕
i know that i will look back at this time with such happiness & fondness, i’ve made such great friends & memories - i cherish it all
i won all of you guys & that’s a pretty fucking good win in my book 💗
i love y’all so much 💗
-mel xx
