Hallmark Exes FAQ!
in light of part 2 being out soon, I’ll be making a little separate FAQ post about them for some backstory info and so i don’t have to keep answering the same questions lol—so send in any questions you have and I’ll answer them in the FAQ!
before getting into the questions, however, I want to clarify something.
Levi and Xavier are my characters. this is my story. while it was prompted by another post—and I encourage everyone who wants to to write their own versions of the prompt!!—it is not a collaborative project. I’ve had multiple separate issues with people wanting to write their own part 2s, and while I really do appreciate that the story resonated so much and inspired people enough to want to add to it, actually doing so and posting it is rude, disrespectful, and a shitty thing to do.
to be clear, I’m not mad at or trying to target any of these people. I know there were no malicious intentions behind it, but my feelings about it remain the same.
I’m not a published author. nobody knows Levi and Xavier are my characters. if someone were to stumble across the original piece and a part 2 someone added without my consent, they’d have no way to know that that’s not canon. any additional info that person decides to include in their writing muddies the waters when I inevitably contradict it, because Levi and Xavier’s story is so much more fleshed out in my head than what I’ve shared on tumblr.
so I guess please just keep that in mind. please don’t hijack my story. it feels weird that I have to say this in the first place, but here we are.
and if you’re about to say something like “but jester, it’s a compliment, it's not that big of a deal! besides, it’s just a tumblr story, it’s not that serious!” I just want to say this: when a writer posts the first chapter of their book or fic on tumblr or ao3 or wattpad or wherever else, do you decide to take it upon yourself to write chapter 2 and post it as if that’s the continuation of the story? no, you wouldn’t, because that’s rude as fuck. this isn’t any different.
ANYWAY. thanks for reading, sorry for the serious post about my silly goofy gay story, don’t forget about any questions you may have :)

I'm telling you all this-- please be careful when updating your Nintendo Switches.
it just occurred to me that, while updating, it automatically deleted most of my software data on games I haven't played in a while, and I subsequently lost my entire 100% RTDLDX save file (along with my TotK progress, Skyward Sword, Miitopia and a few others. Thankfully not BotW or ACNH but I'd rather avoid mentioning it to not bring bad luck upon myself.)
After researching on the internet for a while, I've found that this is not the first time someone's save data has been wiped out after updating. It's been an ongoing issue since 10.0.0 afaik, and Nintendo has done near NOTHING about it.
so, unless you have your save data backed up on Cloud storage (feature which doesn't even support a good portion of Switch games), by updating your console, entire game data files are at immediate risk of disappearing and never coming back.

Being a fan of welcome home I was pulled into the fandom and “game” with its pretty colors and interesting characters but an issue arises
Clown’s (the creator) has stated that their boundaries keep being pushed because some of y’all can’t control yourselves, for the love of whatever ungodly essence possessed anyone to disrespect someone who was just trying to have fun with their own project they tried to share— respect them, they worked hard on welcome home and we barely got a majority of the story and people are pushing and pushing about it calm your shit
Be respectful, they’re just one person trying to live their life and make a fun arg
Stop pushing it

because it's impossible to truly get into the depths of a very hyper specific situation, here's a checklist of 'am I being groomed' [specifically for ONLINE SPACES]
keep in mind that grooming, in this sense, could not be seen as inherently rigged for sexual exploitation. there are a lot of different examples. this also works as a checklist of the intrusive worry of 'am I accidentally grooming someone.' as long as you aren't doing any of that, there's no reason you'd think you would be a groomer. this isn't even age specific. it can happen to anyone at any time if they are susceptible.
none of these specifically mean anything, but together/if added together, they should be cause for alarm
any victim of this sort of behavior should know: it's not your fault, you can always recover, you deserve better friends, you deserve to be happy, you don't deserve to be isolated
I honest to god felt the same way about a year ago. And, now, while I'm still coming to terms with it, I have never been more happy and sure of myself now that I'm out of the situation. and I want the same for you, genuinely. it's isolating and bizarre.
and here: the checklist
are they showing you pornography or explicit content that makes you uncomfortable?
are they encouraging you to seek out specific pornography?
is that pornography in a moral sense illegal?
are they encouraging you to do illegal things or things that might put you in danger?
do you wonder if they ever actually care about you?
do they only talk to you when you're emotionally vulnerable?
do you feel like you need to act outside of how you'd typically act to please them?
do you feel like you need to expose yourself to things you wouldn't normally want to to please them?
do you feel isolated from people outside of the opinions they hold?
do you feel like 'if everyone knew who I really was, they'd hate me?"
do you feel like you're secretly a bad person
do you feel like you can't hold any moral stance on issues because your morals are too far gone?
do you feel like you can defend heinous actions because you (and specifically this other person) are just as guilty your selves
are they telling you that they're the only person/group of people who can 'fix' an issue you have?
are they telling you that looking at upsetting and triggering material is the only way to fix yourself?
are they making you feel as though you don't have a choice about something about yourself?
are they telling you to disregard belief systems that are in place to keep you safe?
are they desensitizing you to things (showing you something bad, showing you something bad, showing you something worse; you don't perceive it as worse)
do you feel like their values are more important than your own morals?
do you feel like you're beyond saving because of what they've told you?
The best course of action to this kind of thing isn't even legal based because that's impossible to determine/prove; it's : please leave. please find somewhere safe to go.

Hey guys! After looking into some of the recent events that happened within the punch out tag on here, I wrote this to both say how I feel about these situations and to inform people about how to deal with this sort of thing. I'd hate to see the fandom spiral into a hate-fest of people waiting to pounce on each other, so I hope anyone who reads this takes it to heart moving forwards!
Accounts/People mentioned:
@punchoutcallout @sukipershippe @punchoutprofic
(Dark and Cherry's accounts, to my knowledge, have been deactivated)
Edit: Dark and Cherry have active accounts, but due to the nature of their actions (on Tumblr and otherwise), I suggest simply blocking them: @/Randomcherryfan and @/rottenhavec

Tumblr media
Right, never thought I had to make one of these callouts in my entire time of using social media, but unfortunately due to the seriousness of the subject matter at hand, I have to get this out here to prevent more people being mislead.
Now for a lot of people who follow artist Tumblr might be aware of this one thread circulating in regards to people using Glaze & Nightshade in response to the recent updates made to Tumblr's data services. With the posting in question, @ reachartwork discouraging use of it and presenting an argument for it.
Now unlike most other people, I can tell how off their argument is as it lacked the nuance of how these programs worked and talked about it in a way that came off more enthusiastic, despite their claims of having sympathies people trying to protect themselves.
It's only until I took one little look at their blog and knew what was up, and their later behaviour proved my suspicions.
Tumblr media
Now to get this right off the bat, I do apologise for whatever misgendering I exhibited as I didn't notice that about them, nor am I justifying this callout to harass them.
So please don't
Rather, it's to be weary of this user, and how you really shouldn't be sleeping on these programs.
Now as the original featured, it went out in presenting their argument as followed:
As you can notice in the thread, it's providing very little evidence of their findings of its supposed workings without proper sources, while trying to show ways to work around it (again, enthusiastically mind you).
And yet as you notice, they didn't bother providing an alternative way to combat this scalping situation everyone is in, especially with how replies have been of users expressing their grievances over this.
You'll think that maybe you should have added something to help others or worded themselves in a more sympathetic manner?
But that's when I checked into their profile and knew what seems to be up,
They're into this tech.
I knew this was clear propaganda, why would somebody who is invested into generative tech try and discourage methods in protecting others of data scalping?
Like I'm sorry but you can't be somebody who claims to be sympathetic about the whole power imbalance this whole field is causing, yet enthusiastically be into this tech. Those mixture of ideologies just do not match.
There's no such thing as "ethical AI use" for this tech.
Now upon knowing many were falling prey to this nonsense, I had to step in and present my own counter arguments and why they are so wrong. Both programs Q&A (along with demonstrations of it acting as written) thay explains the inner workings of it as thoroughly as possible:
https://nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/whatis.html
(Paper is in QA)
https://people.cs.uchicago.edu/~ravenben/publications/pdf/glaze-usenix23.pdf
https://twitter.com/zer0int1/status/1749574897179742353
Now comes the part when things get more heated
After I posted my retort, this is the response I got:
Tumblr media
A) Again, while I didn't intend disrespect for their gender, "AI-bro" has literally become a catch-all for us who are against the very people who are engaged in this field
B) Since when in my original argument that I did try to villainize the entirety of programmers in general? My wording was superficially against those in that field of ML tech who are for this tech.
C) Trying to spin my own findings with proper context and immaturely handwave it by boiling it down as me going "nuh uh" is making you look childish, the info I provided literally explains the very points they argued.
D) Reason I blocked them straight away is because I knew a lot of these pro-AI tend to be very combative when it comes to criticism, I felt it in my gut that they were going to do so first. And later on other factors of their character proved my point.
Like I'm sorry, you really think me not having a degree of X matter is somehow making me a worst person and that I shouldn't be allowed to voice criticism of something?
Just because somebody is in the field of something, doesn't automatically mean they have the best interests to heart.
And here's my confirmation that like a lot of these AI enthusiasts, they're very sensitive & combative.
Now not too long, I decided to try to reblog my argument on another reblog of the artist @ Kang-Bang as they have a bigger artist presence, while they fortunately did realize what the OP they were quickly blocked upon reblogging my own post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it wasn't that confirmed that behaviour.
I found out through a conversation I had with somebody on the server of artist-rights advocate Zakugu Mignon, that this individual had a similar encounter with this user a year ago on Twitter (I'm Hollow btw);
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's the conversation this person had that led to this similar experience:
https://twitter.com/Acfusi/status/1691261322988527617
Notice a familiar pattern of behaviour?
The unfortunate pattern behaviour that these pro-AI types are once again present.
It's always trying to justify the usage of this succeeding.
Now look, I'm not against the idea of the physical unabled being given the ability to produce creations of their own with the help technology means nor do I think that Artificial Intelligence is inherently bad.
But this generative tech is just doing it all the wrong way.
It's by all intentions & purposes, displace hard working people as cheaply and quickly as they can.
It has unfortunately happened to certain working sectors such as journalism, advertisement and translations as we speak.
Now on the topic of whether or not you use Glaze or Nightshade.
Please don't drop it
Now yes it's not a panchea for the societal problems we're currently facing.
But you shouldn't just leave whatever you post online out in the open without any forms of protection is not the wisest route to take.
As the Q&A already shown, it at least offers some way to ensure a means of sabotage data scalping.
There are still many other creatives and general users utilizing these programs for good reason, and WHY they're desperate for a means of protection.

Yes, I understand there's some skepticism going around and we're all frightfully confused about what to do in these uncertain times.
But please.
Don't skim out on a solution to offer some forms of protection.
Having a little protection is better than having none.

Y’know I’m convinced most people in this fandom aren’t ready to accept the fact that Underlust was never supposed to be an easy-to-swallow AU.
The whole purpose of UL was to address very difficult and dark topics, ideally in a respectful and proper manner. It was built to address subjects that cannot and should not be sanitized or watered down. It was a serious AU at its core. It’s not supposed to make you feel comfortable, it’s not supposed to be easy to sit with. It addresses a lot of problems present in our society today and it’s supposed to make you think.
The original creator of UL was very much weird asf and I do not support them in the slightest as I have said multiple times, and there is definitely room to question their motives, but for the most part, at least in the properly canon parts of the AU and from what I remember, these darker aspects seemed to be handled with a lot of gravity and seriousness.
I’m tired of seeing people trying to “remake” Underlust. I’m sick of AU’s seeking to replace it. Because while it is definitely a flawed and unfinished project, riddled with strange remnants of its creator’s concerning behavior, it is now public domain and therefore we have the right to try and fill in the blanks and clean it up, to do it justice. We don’t need to replace it, it’s laying on the ground right there, we need to fix it. And you know what fixing it doesn’t entail? Erasing the serious subject matter.
Underlust’s more serious topics shouldn’t be swept under the rug or removed, they should be handled with care and tact, treated with the respect they deserve. Because while these subjects should never be glamorized, romanticized, or fetishized, they very much should have a chance to be depicted realistically. Not gratuitously, not graphically, not vulgarly, but realistically. Respectfully. Carefully. Accurate and respectful depictions of serious subject matter are a very important aspect of trying to combat their romanticization.
And I am sick and tired of seeing people claiming Underlust to be nothing more than that, and that no one should like it or try to do it justice. I’m tired of people just throwing it to the pro/shippers to be regarded as that kind of material when all that does is let the pro/shippers win. Don’t let them win, don’t throw UL to the dogs. It has the potential to be a very meaningful story if given care and time.
none of this is to say that you always have to depict UL in a super serious manner, nor is it to invalidate the discomfort some may feel surrounding its creator, but what I am trying to say here is to try and make future fleshings-out of this AU more considerate and to not villainize it. It just aggravates me how people will harass others for liking UL or will try to remake it in a super sanitized, comfortable manner, because UL is public domain and can be so much more than the strange actions of its creator, and at the same time it’s not supposed to make you feel comfortable. These subjects are serious, they’re uncomfortable, that’s natural. Making them seem comfortable just normalizes them.
hoping all this makes sense I promise I’m not angry I’m just- yeah

The right is 'doing it better' because they have both a much easier task, and infinite corporate backing
It is easier to destroy than it is to build, as a natural law, even before their multi-billion dollar backing
The left suffers from heavy misinformation, people refuse to read, and display liberal hubris constantly
The right does not need people to read anything (it even prefers they don't), it just needs to say something hateful and they are united; There is nothing more there. They get all they need just by dog-whistling
The left needs people to understand things and to be curious and to often admit uncertainty in order for room for learning to be created
We have our work cut out for us

I've had a few people mention the things I post about can apply to more than just factives. Specifically, people mentioning that these things are true and and helpful for fictives to.
I would like to say now, to the people who feel the need to "open my eyes to the problematic fictives" that
That is the point.
I genuinely and honestly in the most non offensive, non rude, trying my best to be understang way, do not understand how you all do not understand that.
This blog exists to teach people that problematic factives aren't that bad. And the fictives are finding that... the experiences are.. similar? Dare I say... the exact same in some cases!? Its- it's almost like.. there's a reason for that.
Yes! Problematic fictives exist too! I know that! But Problematic fictives do not get BANNED from "Problematic introject friendly" servers by Jeff The fucking Killer FOR BEING INTROJECTED FROM A SERIAL KILLER??? WE ARE LITERALLY ONE IN THE SAME AND I AM THE ONE GETTING KICKED OUT FOR EXISTING???
You can go to a stimboard maker and in most cases (granted, yes, everyone has boundaries and this could totally be against a person's boundaries) get a Jeff the Killer, a Ticci Toby, an Ayano Ayishi, etc etc Problematic fictive stimboard made and it wouldn't be a problem. Most of us? we can do that. We can't request stimboards or moodboards or art. We can't post fun headcannons about or dress up as ourselves.
Granted, a lot of us are introjected from someone the system knew in real life and you can't just blast information about your past abuser or your mom, those of us who have infamous serial killer or abuser etc sources are treated like actual shit for something we can't control. And it is so, so, SO crazily often BY problematic fictives. If I had a dollar for every time I was kicked for a server for being me when the mod team had creepypasta, danganronpa, minecraft character thing and whatever else in their system, I would be able to buy all the problematic factives some decent human rights.
YES!
This stuff CAN apply to problematic fictives too!
That DOESNT mean it is FOR you
Until you can learn to treat us like actual people, I think you can suffice to have ONE blog not cater to you. I can help you find 50 who will cater to you either way.

A PSA!
Roleplaying with AI bots is silly at first but its a regurgitating machine that steals ideas, it can steal your ideas too if you're too open to it
if you want to roleplay, use PluralKit or Tupperbox on discord
so you're the one choosing the character dialogue, not the machine.
While reinterpreting characters to be different from canon can be fun,
At times if it gets too projectively OOC (to where the character is basically a different character altogether)
that can be offputting to others and you're better off re-working it into a separate new oc
It can be really tempting to ignore your mental health issues by talking with the AI bots but when you do that to an obsessive extent, the dynamic becomes co-dependent, if you find yourself interacting more with a BOT than your friends, then log off and seek help
Unfortunately if you have issues like BPD, Bipolar, PMDD, Schizophrenia, or have issues offline (whether that be due to home life or lack of friends/social circle)
you can be more susceptible to developing psychosis
or having a psychotic episode
these can drastically effect how you view reality
Autism can be another factor, as we tend to get very attached to our special interests and hyperfixations but we all need to step back sometimes our interests are not above criticism
not everyone will like the same things
don't let the fixation turn into an unhealthy addiction
From March to early June, I got addicted to that character AI site, it got to the point where the sam bots I was making were completely different from his character I was ignoring friends and my symptoms, until after talking it over, I started recovery.

PSA (TW: mentions of death and sexual content)
This is very different than the content I make, but I felt that this needed to be said
A lot of people dislike/disagree with furries and what they do. I’m not a furry myself, but I do have some friends who are.
They have been harassed in person and online, being banned on Tiktok twice due to mass reporting
Pictures of them crying have been taken and spread though social media
People have walked up to me describing how they should d*e. In graphic detail.
There have been comments under their videos that are very sexual in nature, some of these are from people they don’t even know.
I am not saying this to try and convince you to support furries, but rather to spread awareness of the hate they receive simply because people don’t like them.
Always respect people, no matter what they believe in or are.
This goes for people of color, lgbtq, neurodivergence, and any other group that is different than you.
Please.
My friend shouldn’t be used to hearing why he should die simply because people don’t like furries
