Praising has its Benefits
Have you been praised today? Maybe someone praised your new hairdo or praised your amazing talents and skills. Maybe YOU praised someone for their sense of humor, like I often do to someone I know! It gives us a sense of “good” pride knowing that someone “noticed” us and our abilities. Suddenly, we might even stand a little taller and our smile is bigger! And, even more so, think about how God…

christians and homophobia
look this doesn’t apply for all christians AT ALL but some of us be slandering gay people with the bible as if the bible literally doesn’t tell us to:
-love everyone (matthew 5:44, john 13:34-35, 1 peter 2:17, 1 peter 4:8)
-it’s not our place to judge people (john 8:7, matthew 7:1, john 8:15, 1 corinthians 4:5)
-we’ve all sinned (romans 3:23, psalm 106:6)
honorable mentions include
-do not kick a relative (especially your child) out for ANY reason (1 timothy 5:8)
-all sins are forgiven (mark 3:28)
-the study about leviticus 18:22 being about pedophillia and not homosexuality due to an error in translation. there's a lot of debate about this, and so i’m not putting it as actual evidence, but it’s worth checking out.
-if some christians hate members of the LGBTQ+ community because they’re sinning, why don’t we hate liars like that? cheaters? divorcees? i’m not saying we should start, but if those sins aren’t being viewed as taboo, why are gay/trans people any different?
i’m bisexual. i’m also christian. i see both sides of this issue. but nowhere, and i mean nowhere in the bible does it encourage hate crimes, slander, and flat-out bullying towards gay people. and i don’t know very many christians who could endorse it while sticking to the word of God. it’s contradictory, babes.

Rejoicing in Heaven
1 And after these things I heard the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, "Hallelujah! The salvation and the glory and the honor and the power belong to the Lord our God. 2 For true and righteous are His judgments; for He has judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and He has avenged the blood of His servants at her hand." 3 And they said a second time, "Hallelujah! And her smoke shall ascend upward into the ages of eternity." 4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, Who sits on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!" 5 And a voice came forth from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all His servants, and all who fear Him, both small and great."
6 And I heard a voice like that of a great multitude, and like the sound of many waters, and the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord God Almighty has reigned.
7 Let us be glad and shout with joy; and let us give glory to Him; for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." 8 And it was granted to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, pure and bright; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.
9 And he said to me, "Write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are the true words of God." 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. Then he said to me, "See that you do not do this! I am a fellow servant of yours, and of your brethren, who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
11 And I saw heaven open; and behold, a white horse; and He Who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He does judge and make war. 12 And His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written that no one knows except Him. 13 And He was clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and His name is The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven were following Him on white horses; and they were clothed in fine linen, white and pure. 15 And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He might smite the nations; and He shall shepherd them with an iron rod; and He treads the winepress of the fury and the wrath of the Almighty God. 16 And on His garment and on His thigh He has a name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather yourselves together to the supper of the great God 18 So that you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of chief captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all, free and bond, and small and great."
19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered together to make war with Him Who sits on the horse, and with His army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who worked miracles in his presence, by which he had deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Those two were cast alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone; 21 And the rest were killed by the sword of Him Who sits on the horse, even the sword that goes out of His mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh. — Revelation 19 | A Faithful Version (AFV) A Faithful Version Bible Copyright © 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 York Publishing Company. 1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 104:33 I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.104:34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
Psalm 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.119:98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.119:99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.119:100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.119:101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.119:102 I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.119:106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
Psalm 77:12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Psalms chapter 106
1 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
4 Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
5 That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
16 They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
20 Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
27 To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
28 They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
32 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
48 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

Plagues in the Bible Lesson 04: Plagues in the Wilderness
After the ten plagues of Egypt, the people of Israel were led out of Egypt by Moses.  After such an experience, one would think the people of Israel had more than their fair share of plagues.  However, they went through at least four more plagues in their wilderness journey?  What happened and why?
Let’s read together Exodus 16:1-16; Numbers 11:1-6, 18-20, 31-33; and Psalms 78:17-32,  105:40, 106:13-15.
The Bible records two times where the people of Israel were asking for meat.  Both times God responded by giving them quail.  Why did God send a plague upon the people of Israel the second time?
God showed mercy towards the people of Israel the first time they asked for meat.  However, the people of Israel demonstrated distrust of God when they asked for meat the second time.  God had already provided them food daily by giving them manna.  He also gave them water when they needed it.  Yet, the people of Israel were tired of manna and craving meat.  They even went so far as to crave the food they had when they were slaves in Egypt.
Interestingly, the name “Kibroth Hattaavah” can be translated as “graves of craving” or “graves of lust.”  God punished the people of Israel for giving into their carnal cravings.
Let’s read together Numbers chapters 13 and 14.
Moses sent twelve spies to check out the land of Canaan.  They returned after forty days and confirmed that land was indeed bountiful.  However, ten of the spies told the people of Israel that they would not be able to conquer the inhabitants of the land, who were simply too large and powerful.
Joshua and Caleb begged  the people of Israel to follow the word of the Lord in faith to enter the promised land in faith.  However, the people murmured against Moses and Aaron, wanting to choose new leaders to take them back to Egypt.
In response to the people’s rebellion, God sent a plague that killed the ten spies.  The people of Israel would also not be allowed to enter the promised land for another forty years.  They would all die in the wilderness, except for Joshua and Caleb.  Thus, the people of Israel were punished for blatantly doubting God’s promises and seeking to make their own way.
Let’s read together Number 16:46-50; Romans 8:34; and Hebrews 7:25.
Korah, Dathan, and Abiram led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron.  They contended for the leadership of Israel, but they failed to acknowledge that it was God who appointed Moses and Aaron to be leaders.  Korah, Dathan, and Abiram were killed by God for their presumption.
However, the rebellion did not end there.  The next day the people of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, siding with Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.  God sent a plague upon the people of Israel.  Aaron rushed into the camp with a censer to atone for the people of Israel.  He literally stood between the living and the dead to end the plague.
Aaron’s intercessory action pointed to Jesus, who would stand between us and the plague of sin.
Let’s read together Numbers 21:4-9; John 3:13-15; and John 12:30-36.
Once again, the people of Israel murmured against Moses.  God sent poisonous fiery serpents to plague them in response.  God instructed Moses to make a bronze snake and set it upon a pole.  Anyone bit by a fiery serpent would live if they looked upon the bronze snake.  However, if they refused to look up at the bronze snake, they would die.
This incident foreshadowed Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.  Jesus died bearing all the sins of humanity.  Everyone who repents of their sins and accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be saved.  However, anyone who refuses to accept Jesus will die in their own sins.
Let’s read together Isaiah 45:22; John 14:6; 1 John 2:1; and Hebrews 12:2.
What can we learn from these plagues in the wilderness?  We will die in our sins if we rely upon ourselves.  Instead, we need to look upon Jesus and accept His infinite sacrifice on the cross.  Jesus is the only One who can save us from the plague of sin.
Friend, will you confess and repent of your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior?

Heartstrings: Glorious Praise to the God of Heaven and Earth
Praising God from a pure heart, acknowledging Him in all of our ways, is pleasing in His sight. He is God, Creator, and Ruler of all. We have no life apart from Him. The life of every living creature, and the breath of all mankind is in His hand. (See Job 12:10)
He has no pleasure in disloyal hearts. (See 1 Samuel 15:20-23, Isaiah 29:13-14, Ezekiel 33:31-32, and John 4:21-24)
"Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven." (Lamentations 3:41)
Tumblr media
"Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand." (Psalm 95:1-7)

7th July >> Mass Readings (USA)
Friday, Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time.
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Genesis 23:1-4, 19; 24:1-8, 62-67 In his love for Rebekah, Isaac found solace after the death of his mother Sarah.
The span of Sarah’s life was one hundred and twenty-seven years. She died in Kiriatharba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham performed the customary mourning rites for her. Then he left the side of his dead one and addressed the Hittites: “Although I am a resident alien among you, sell me from your holdings a piece of property for a burial ground, that I may bury my dead wife.”
After the transaction, Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field of Machpelah, facing Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan.
Abraham had now reached a ripe old age, and the LORD had blessed him in every way. Abraham said to the senior servant of his household, who had charge of all his possessions: “Put your hand under my thigh, and I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not procure a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I live, but that you will go to my own land and to my kindred to get a wife for my son Isaac.” The servant asked him: “What if the woman is unwilling to follow me to this land? Should I then take your son back to the land from which you migrated?” “Never take my son back there for any reason,” Abraham told him. “The LORD, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and the land of my kin, and who confirmed by oath the promise he then made to me, ‘I will give this land to your descendants’– he will send his messenger before you, and you will obtain a wife for my son there. If the woman is unwilling to follow you, you will be released from this oath. But never take my son back there!”
A long time later, Isaac went to live in the region of the Negeb. One day toward evening he went out . . . in the field, and as he looked around, he noticed that camels were approaching. Rebekah, too, was looking about, and when she saw him, she alighted from her camel and asked the servant, “Who is the man out there, walking through the fields toward us?” “That is my master,” replied the servant. Then she covered herself with her veil.
The servant recounted to Isaac all the things he had done. Then Isaac took Rebekah into his tent; he married her, and thus she became his wife. In his love for her, Isaac found solace after the death of his mother Sarah.

Gospel Acclamation Matthew 11:28
Alleluia, alleluia. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 9:9-13 Those who are well do not need a physician; I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

20 Reasons You Must Give Thanks To God by  EVANGELIST JOSHUA OREKHIE
Giving thanks is not what many people do often because when they look at their lives, they believe there is nothing worth thanking God for. They convince themselves that thanking God might be right for those He has showered His blessings on, but not right for them.
They would claim that God knew He was yet to do anything for them, so thanking Him would embarrass Him!  This is not correct.  There is no one who does not have a reason to thank God. When we can’t think, we can’t give thanks. A thoughtful person will be a thankful person. Someone complaining that he has no shoes will thank God when he sees another person without a leg!
Often times, we are ungrateful for God’s kindnesses and manifold blessings in our lives. We are so concerned about what is yet to happen that we fail to see what has happened. We remember, so constantly, answers to prayers that are yet to manifest and we forget answers to prayers we’re already enjoying. How ungrateful we are! We regularly violate God’s instruction concerning giving thanks.

Lessons from the Beatitudes Part 3
Blessed are the Meek
The Beatitudes
Matt. 5:3 “Blessed are those who recognise they are spiritually helpless.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
4 Blessed are those who mourn.
They will be comforted.
5 Blessed are those who are gentle (meek). They will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God’s approval.
They will be satisfied.
7 Blessed are those who show mercy.
They will be treated mercifully.
8 Blessed are those whose thoughts are pure.
They will see God.
9 Blessed are those who make peace.
They will be called God’s children.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing what God approves of.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
- God’s Word Translation
The Blessing of God
The Beatitudes or ‘Blessed Sayings’ means ‘blessed is’ or ‘happy is’. Happy unfortunately has lost its meaning in modern times and is now used for a superficial moment of contentment. Someone has said that if would mean much more if we could qualify it by saying. “Oh how incredibly happy!” It means supremely blessed or fortunate. The One who is doing the blessing has our absolute good as his highest interest.
When God blessed Adam in Genesis 1:22 and Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3 he meant that everything else around them would be working together to bring about God’s favour.
We should live in a favourable and prosperous state that is not based on worldly circumstances but on divine conditions. These conditional blessings are frequent in Hebrew scriptures, including the wisdom literature, especially the Psalms (Job 5:17; Ps. 1:1; 32:1-2; 33:12; 41:1; 106:3; Prov. 8:34; 28:14).
The Beatitudes contrast Jesus' values with the values of the world
Jesus’ Values vs World’s Values
Poor in spirit Self confident, complete
Mourning Pleasure seeking, hedonistic
Meek Proud, self importance
Hunger for God Self made, self reliant
Merciful Assertive, forceful
Pure in heart Hidden, secretive
Peacemakers Competitive, aggressive
Persecuted Popular, crowd pleasing
Like most of Jesus’ teaching the beatitudes are contrary to the values that the world offers [1]. Leaders must serve if they want to rule; if they want to live they must first die; if they want to receive then they must to give away; if they want to be made worthy they should first recognise their unworthiness; if they want to be happy they first need make others happy.
Blessed are the Meek
In the church today there is little emphasis on humility or self-emptying. There are many Christian books on how to be happy, how to be successful, how to overcome problems, and so on. But sadly there are very few books in print on how to empty ourselves, how to deny ourselves, or how to take up our cross.
There are numerous commands about humbling ourselves (Matt. 18:4; 23:12; James 4:10; 1 Pet. 5:5).
The first step in experiencing humility is to turn our eyes away from ourselves and to look to God. It is the vision of an infinitely Holy God in all His sinless purity and perfection that enables us to see ourselves as sinners. To seek humility, we do not look at ourselves to find our faults, but to the perfection of God. Jesus invites the weary and overburdened of this world to take upon themselves his yoke and discover that he is “gentle and humble in heart.”[2]
People are increasingly aggressive and unkind (including Christians) to each other. There is a real need to nurture a gentle and kind spirit.
Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Titus 3:1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
๏ Meekness is learning to be kind
๏ Meekness is learning to not take offence
๏ Meekness is is not being angry or aggressive
๏ Meekness is not allowing people to affect our mood
Meekness should not be confused with weakness. Jesus didn’t let people control him. He was quite willing to confront and challenge. He wouldn't let them ‘make him king’, he overturned the tables when His Father’s house was being desecrated, he strongly denounced the Pharisees because of their hypocrisy.
Meekness does not mean that we fail to challenge, correct, rebuke or speak the truth in love.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction.
‘For They will Inherit the Earth’
Psalm 37:11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.
To inherit the land has a twofold application, present and future.
Those that are at peace with themselves will be at peace with their surroundings. The world will be enjoyed and appreciated so much more when we have a tranquil spirit.
Romans 8:6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
His kingdom principles define and shape us. This is the meekness to which Jesus calls his followers. It is the meek who will “inherit the land and enjoy great peace”. It is those of a ‘gentle spirit’ (NEB), not the grasping or the greedy, who will receive from life its most satisfying rewards. The aggressive are unable to enjoy their ill–gotten gains. Only the meek have the capacity to enjoy in life all those things that provide genuine and lasting satisfaction.[3]
One day the earth will be transformed where the children of God will live. Those who are transformed by Christ will inherit the earth.
Amen

IMPORTUNATE PRAYER
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”
Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)
Tumblr media
“As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel’s signs were fulfilled that day.”
1 Samuel 10:9 (NLT)
• God gave a new heart to Saul when he started to leave Samuel. God has the heart of every person in His hand, there is no heart He can cannot touch and change.
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
Proverbs 21:1 (NKJV)
- Apostle Paul admonishes us, the believers, to pray and supplicate in the Spirit for all the saints.
- God wants us to intercede, stand in the gap for others in prayer. When you pray, the hearts of those whom you pray for would be touched by God, and move them to do as He wants or wishes (Ezekiel 13:5; 22:30).
- To intercede is to speak to God in order to ask Him to have mercy on someone or a group of people.
That God would help the person or people you are praying for, and if they have done anything wrong that He would forgive them (Psalm 106:23).
- To intercede is to pray persistently, to importune God to do something, what you have brought before Him. It talks about praying without giving up (Luke 18:1; 11:5-8).
5. “And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;
6. ‘for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;
7. “and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?
8. “I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his PERSISTENCE he will rise and give him as many as he needs.”
Luke 11:5-8 (NKJV)
- Intercession is a long-drawn-out prayer, lasting a very long time, protracted. You pray until something happens. A number of believers could not tarry, wait long in the place of prayer, before God, by the time God comes to grant their requests, they are gone.
• When you choose to pray persistently about somebody, a situation, or whatever God cannot but intervene.
- Our prayers draw God’s hand, to intervene in a situation. When you are interceding for someone or a group of people, the result of the prayer might not be instant, thus you need to persist.
- Remember you are praying for a change in a person's heart or life, God to move the person to do something, which may not happen overnight at times—God would need to touch or melt the heart of the person, get his or her attention, to get the work done.
- If the answer to your prayer tarries, do not give up, be persistent, you will get an answer (Galatians 6:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:17).
- You pray until you get a desired result.
You can change things, people, or whatever situation through being importunate (Luke 11:8-10; 18:5,7).
• When you stand in the gap for others, God will reveal things to you about them—the people you are praying for.
- If you do it, pray for others, God will bless you, reward you for the act, by meeting your own needs (Proverbs 11:25).
- Answers to some prayers may take a longer time than the other, thus perseverance and patience is needed.
- Answer to some prayers may take days, weeks, months or whatever, however, do not grow weary or faint, the answer is on the way (Habakkuk 2:3).
- Stand against weariness and discouragement in prayers. Prayer is a long journey which you do not disembark from, if you wants a good result.
- Also, the more you pray, the stronger you grow in prayer. You know how to pray by praying.
- Another important thing is that you should let all your prayers be based on the Word of God—it gives speed to prayers for answers.
- A good number of believers pray, but they cannot tell, actually do not know, whether they receive answers to their prayers or not—because their prayers are not biblically based (John 15:7; James 4:3).
- Some prayers are answered by God on the platform of mercy, not because they are biblically based.
- If God is answering your prayers on the platform of mercy, He may later stop, and expect you to move up in the knowledge of the Word, that your prayers, whatever you ask, would be biblically based (James 4:3).
- When you know God’s Word, have understanding of the Word, your prayers would no longer be contradictory to His will and plan for you.
- Whatever you desire or ask for, would be in line with His will or plan for you; it is then you have speedy answers in prayers (John 15:7).
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
John 15:7 (NKJV)
- God would not give credibility to any prayer that is not in line with His Word.
- You cannot pray an effective prayer, result oriented one, without the knowledge of the Word of God.
• Take note: You cannot pray without the knowledge of the Word, and you cannot have the knowledge of the Word without praying.
- The knowledge of the Word would prompt you, spur or motivate you, to pray.
- The knowledge of the word enhances, increases or further improves the good quality, value or status of your prayer.
• You will not fail in Jesus’ name.
Peace!

Sing for Joy to God, Our Strength
1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
15 The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. — Psalm 81 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain. 1 Samuel 8:1-9:27, John 6:22-42, Psalms 106:32-48, Proverbs 14:34-35
Today is May 10th welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it's always great, always. It's wonderful to be here together today as we gather around the Global Campfire and move forward together in the Bible in the year in our lives. And as we move back in, we’re of course going back into the book of first Samuel. We have learned who Samuel…well…like I said yesterday, we knew of Samuel before Samuel was born and we’ve gone all the way through his life and now he is the final judge of Israel and is leading the children of Israel. But a person can only live so long, and Samuel is aging and his sons are not the kind of people that the children of Israel would like to succeed Samuel. They aren't like their dad. And, so, they want a king over them so they can be like the nations that are around them and that is the territory that we are heading into. We’re reading from the New International Version this week. First Samuel chapters 8 and 9.
Commentary:
Alright. So, in the book of John today we read something very simple but very profound, like so profound that it's bedrock, its core, it's essential. So, Jesus had just miraculously fed the 5000. The next day they can't find Jesus. And, so, they go looking for Him and then they find Him, and they have a conversation and Jesus basically says, you’re looking for me because you got fed. I fed you and you’re looking for me, not not because of the signs and wonders that I've been doing but because I filled your tummy. And then Jesus says like, don't work for food that’ going to spoil work for food that's going to bring you into eternal life. And this conversation leads to a very important question that they ask Jesus. “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Like, we just push pause on that for a second. That is a question that whether spoken or unspoken is a part of every day. What do I need to do to do the work of God? What do I need to do to do what God requires of me? And if we think about it we can think of all of the activity that we believe we are doing on behalf of God. And these are probably very very good things to do, right? Like, read your Bible. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be kind, be aware. Go to church. Listen to Christian music. Be faithful to your faith community. Any number of things. All good things. We could say, yeah that's what I do to do what God requires of me because that's kind of how I've been taught. But Jesus answers this question very simply, and it is profound. To finally understand clearly what God requires, what the work of God requires. So, they ask Jesus, “what must we do to do the work God requires” and Jesus answered, “the work of God is this, to believe in the one He has sent.” Like, I’m pausing on purpose. That's what we’re supposed to do. That's the requirement. All of the other things are byproducts of our belief in the one that God has sent. In other words, to believe in the one He has sent is the activator to any of the other things that we would do on our faith journey. But we can get ourselves so wrapped up in obligations and requirements and all of the things we’re failing at and feel as if we’re nowhere near the work of God and we’re not even close to what we should be doing. And, so, condemnation comes, and we can get buried in it like we will never measure up. And that is true. We will never measure up. Jesus has already measured up. And the thing that we have to do is believe that. And it's funny how the people respond after Jesus says such a simple thing that is required. They then respond by saying well what sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Ironically, He had just fed them, like the day before, miraculously. So, you start getting the idea that there's nothing that He could do that would make them believe. They either do or they don't. And we run around looking for these kinds of signs to. We need the proof when faith itself is the proof. Faith gives substance to what we hope for and evidence to what we cannot see, at least according to the Scriptures. It all boils down to; do we believe or not? And no matter what we do to try to seek this proof it is always going to lead us back to a place of faith in what we can’t prove and in what we can't see, but that we hope in. We’re going to have to believe.
Prayer:
Jesus, we do believe. And this is so fundamental that we might think, I already know that. Of course, everybody knows that's how You do this, You believe. But then we spend so much of our time and energy trying to figure out what You want. You want us to believe and that faith changes everything. And, so, as fundamental and foundational as this is we realize that we say we believe but then functionally can be all over the map. And, so, we declare we believe. We believe that You came to rescue us and that the Father sent You to do just that and everything else is an outpouring from that place of belief. You are the Son of the living God. There is no other hope, but You and we believe and we declare this in Your name, the name above every name, the name of Jesus. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com, that's home, that’s home of the Global Campfire. And, so, certainly check it out. If you're using the Daily Audio Bible app you're at the Global Campfire as well.
So, you can check things out from there like the Daily Audio Bible Shop. There are a bunch of resources in a different…a bunch of different categories for the journey that we are on through the Bible in a year together. And, so, check them out. All kinds of different things, written resources like the God of Your Story, which is a…well…it's a 365-day dated book that moves through the rhythm of going through the Bible in a year. And, so, sometimes we talk about things that are themes in the God of Your story and sometimes we talk about totally different things, but it moves through the rhythm of the Bible in a year like we do at the Daily Audio Bible. And, so, it's a fantastic resource for going deeper but also if you're ever unplugged or unplugging on purpose from the Internet you can continue your rhythm, continue your journey, read the Scriptures, read some thoughts about what we’ve read today. Basically, what we do here Daily Audio Bible. You can find that in the God of Your Story or like Reframe. Reframe is a book written to take a deep dive into what we are even talking about when we say we are in a relationship with God because everybody says that and everybody believes that, but how does that take shape? What does that relationship look like? How is it supposed to be lived into? That would be Reframe. Or the resource, Sneezing Jesus, which is a portrait and a love letter and a look at what Jesus’ humanity means to our humanity. So often in my life and so often here at the Daily Audio Bible we are certainly reading the Scriptures and allowing them to read us back, like because they do. They touch different points in our lives and cause us to consider why we do what we do, but I am often looking to the Scriptures “for how do I live today?” Like, how do I make it through this day in the will of God walking with Jesus and being an ambassador in this world? And, so, we turn to Jesus because He is our example. He's our Savior. But He is our example of what it might even look like to be a human being. And, so, what does Jesus’ humanity show us about our own. And there are all kinds of other resources in the Daily Audio Bible Shop as well. So, check that out.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, if the mission that we share in common to bring the spoken word of God read fresh every day and offered freely to whoever will listen because we believe this is the word of God, and so anyone who listens at all for any amount of time is…is Hearing that voice. And when we make that a rhythm, the rhythm of our lives that we show up every day then we show up together and we know we’re not going through this alone. We know we’re going through this with tens of thousands of brothers and sisters all over the world. And what a difference that makes. Community Prayer and Praise:
This is __ from Florida calling on May 6th in response to the last prayer request was for the fine husband who's calling for the __ of his wife who just had his kid and is suffering from, you know, hormonal imbalances and stuff following that birth. So, Father God I lift up that family to You right now and I ask Lord God that You would heal that wife’s body and __ her hormones so she can start enjoying the family that they are creating with a new child and that You will restore joy in their home. And Lord Jesus, help that husband recognize that for the sake of his wife and to calm her heart down and to love her…love her in a way in a way that he's trying to. And thank You so much for that Lord God, that he's hanging in there and that he's reaching out to us, reaching out to this community for help and prayer. Father God, I thank You for answering this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Good morning, DABbers this is I am Michael in Scottsdale AZ and I just was so touched today listening to this trucker who called in. I'm sorry I can't remember your name my brother, but you were calling to ask for prayer about your brother who passed out at work with pneumonia, and they discovered that he had some kind of very contagious disease. And I just want to lift him up. Father, I want to lift up James in the name of Jesus, Father. You are in control. This situation it's not a surprise to You and we all know and believe that You're gonna work all things together for James’s good and the whole family through this situation. And Father in the name of Jesus I just pray Father God You would send Your angels and put a hedge of protection around all the doctors that are working on him, all the nurses and all the staff that are around him Father, that none of them will contract this disease and it will not spread, it will stay right where James is and be extinguished and exterminated and that he will have a full recovery in the name of Jesus. And we just declare, enemy what You meant for harm God is on the throne, He has the final say and He's gonna turn this thing around for good in the name of Jesus. God bless You My brother and have a wonderful…
Good morning DAB family this is Joan from upstate New York. In two days, we celebrate Mother's Day here in the United States and this is a message for all parents but especially at this time of year for moms who have been standing in the gap for their prodigals. In my case it has been close to 30 years as a stand in the gap for my children who were introduced to Jesus in their middle school years but as time passed, they chose to have lifestyles that were not actually God's plan and design. And early on I had conversations with them and yet one son in the midst of this decided to distance himself from me and I haven't seen or talked to him in 13 years. It's really painful because he was a delight to raise as well as his brother and sister. But I encourage myself and you other moms in this time period to find a verse that boosts your spirit. Mine is Isaiah 54:13 - all my children will be taught of the Lord and great will be their peace. And that's what we want for our children, the piece of Jesus. So, at this time of year although it's wearisome at times in the waiting and I admit that, we still we remain confident that Jesus is Lord and we have not been forgotten. So, happy Mother's Day as we stand in the gap. Thank you, Hardin family, for all you do. It's an amazing encounter every day.
Good morning my name is Claudia I'd like to…I'm calling…I just listened to today's broadcast…podcast and heard Terry the Trucker come on and afterwards and ask for prayers for his brother-in-law James. Terry, I want you to know that I will…will continue to pray for you and for James and your sister. I pray that the same God who made you, made her, made him we'll reach down and touch every part of his body that's been affected by this infection. Like the lady who came up behind Jesus in the crowd and touched Him, just the hem of His coat, that he will receive His healing. His family needs him, you need him. God loves him. Terry, you have my word as your sister in Christ. I will continue to pray. I ask for his complete recovery in Jesus’ precious name. Amen. I love you, Terry. I love you family. I appreciate all you do in your job. I appreciate you as a brother. Amen. In Jesus’ name.
Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Jeremiah from Michigan God Gives Good Gifts. I'm calling in today to ask for prayer. It's a long story but there's been a lot of abuse in my family – control, manipulation, lies, fear - and with my parents and with my brother in particular. And the last year or two I've had to put up some pretty big boundaries with them to protect myself and to protect my family. And this last few weeks God’s led me through a beautiful season of forgiveness and has taken out some roots of bitterness and indebtedness in my heart. And now He's been challenging me to a simple step of obedience to reach out to my parents and have a meeting with them and my family. And I’m just asking for your prayers and support. There's a lot of strongholds of the enemy - pride, fear, manipulation, control, greed - and I don't wanna fall back into those things. But God's been challenging me to owe no man anything but love. And, so, I want to reach out who would love and forgiveness and peace. And I don't really have a lot of expectations except for that the Lord's will would be done and that I would be able to be obedient to Him. Thank you for your prayers. I’m praying for you daily. God bless you all.
