“How long are you going to pretend?” you whisper, tracing the shadows the lapis lazuli-coloured fire casts across his face, sleek and wild and volatile in their density. “That this thing between us doesn’t exist? That I’m not hopelessly in love with you?”
Lucifer takes a hearty swill of the Demonus cradled in his hands. His eyes, lidded and opalescent red, connect with yours with the soft, lingering start of a violin solo in the background, and he tongues at the aftertaste of alcohol that lingers on his lips before saying, “Is this not enough? Being serenaded by my beloved music? Bearing witness to my delicate state?”
“What are you so afraid of?” You burrow deeper into the plush of the sofa, the conjoined dynamic heat of the fire, liquor and the outline of his body pressed against yours keeping your lips loose. “Death?”
"Only yours," he replies, voice deeper than usual. "Mine would be a miracle gone rogue.”
The cold of the floor has started to nip at your toes, seeping into sock and skin like algae embracing wet stone. The hearth sputters a burst of blue flame as if to soothe you. “Before or after mine?”
He answers in silence, loud and unsurprising. You shake your head and take a sip of your human poison to quell the uncertain thrill of your next words.
“...Do you, though?”
His eyes are frothing drops of blood in a sea of fire. They flicker infinitesimally downwards to your lips, then straighten, boring intensely into yours like a tantalizing still of the dawning sun that causes harm to the eyes yet coaxes the body to halt anyway.
“You know it.”
“And yet you dare not utter the words.” Disappointment unfurls in your chest like a weed in a flourishing farm.
He roughly pulls at his bottle, only to discover it light and empty. “Are you truly so greedy for those frail utterances to deliberately shy from actuality?”
"I'm only human," you spit, emptying your glass sharply, perhaps to draw attention to the liquor that evades his own flask. The subsequent burn in your throat then that seems to mimic the knot in your sternum comes across as irritating and deserved. "Spare me the condescension on days I grow tired of mute pining."
Lucifer swallows harshly, seeming to push down the words already half-formed on his tongue, setting his lacking bottle aside neglectfully. He abandons his seat and trudges towards his beloved liquor cabinet, plucking forth a bottle of Devildom whiskey which he then uncorks with his teeth and takes a burning swig from. The muscles of his shoulders, clad in his regular black shirt, are bunched from sitting in a cruel wooden chair gazing at papers all day. He lingers by the cabinet for a long while, head turned left to stare in a reverie at the creamy Devildom moon looming beyond the glass windows of his office, a psychedelic rock-esque orchestral piece providing the soundtrack for his musings. The hand clasped around the fresh bottle remains limp by his side, the neck tilted at a dangerous axis.
When he turns, there is an expression of resolution in his eyes. He rests the bottle carefully on the farthest edge of the table and kneels by your socked feet. You straighten in surprise, the sudden movement disorienting to your inebriated senses, and stare at the odd image of him there.
"What are you doing?"
He clasps a hand of yours in his and tugs it towards his lips, feathering upon your knuckles a sweet kiss, then presses the back of it to his forehead, where his black diamond might shine if he were to switch to his more primal form. It seems the thought of it occurs to him too for there's a gust of air that buffets you, two massive raven wings unfurling and curling around your lonesome figure, and the mass of his horns emerging to face you at an exposed incline.
He does not look up as he speaks, voice hazy with an encompassing mixture of regret and realization, "I did not say it, perhaps because it was I who lost sight of actuality within the confusing folds of past and future. You're here, you're real, and though you might say that you shall stay forever we both know you lie. We've wasted too much time already and I apologize for how much of that is a fault of mine."
Lucifer raises his head, his eyes just the littlest bit shiny, and slides your palm to rest over his chest, his beating heart a staccato of vulnerability and discomposure.
"Would you go on a date with me, my love?"
It takes a few moments worth of weighing the significance of the scene that has unfolded before your very eyes before the words come bubbling out of your parted lips:
"Yes. Yes, always."
He shifts forward, retracting his wings and horns and nudges his head into your lap. "Do not worry, I'll ask you again tomorrow."
"The answer will remain the same, Lucifer." You entangle your fingers in his silky black strands, bending over to press a kiss to the naked skin of his nape. "I would love to go on a date with you."
He smiles then, partially hidden by the turn of his head. If he circles a hand around your waist to trace a vague symbol against your lower spine and doesn't detangle from the heat of your body for the next fifteen minutes, then it's no one's business but yours alone.

Summary: In a twist of unfortunate events, you find out that being exposed as the target of Kunikuzushi middle school bullying escapades was just the beginning of your troubles. To your dismay, you’re thrown even deeper into the glamorous but artificial world of celebrities. Oh, and the cherry on top? You’re forced to pretend to be in a long-term romantic relationship with none other than said ex-bully. All because of a careless misclick by his social media manager.

It’s early noon when you slowly open your eyes, the world seeming hazy. Your dry mouth and heavy eyelids serve as reminders of the previous night. Glancing around your room, you note the evidence scattered in the corner — the empty bottle of raki and cups, snack packets, and plates.
With a groan, you rise from the bed and stretch your weary limbs, suppressing a yawn. The tempting aroma of freshly roasted coffee wafts through the air, accompanied by the scent of a mouthwatering breakfast. Following your senses, you make your way to the kitchen, the soft padding of your sock-clad feet barely making a sound along the hallway.
“Morning,” Alhaitam greets you with a brief glance as he expertly flips a msemen in the air, the flatbread landing back in the pan with a sizzle. He’s wearing a novelty apron — a gag gift from Kaveh — adorned with the words “I Beat My Meat” and a playful illustration of a tiny, round creature tenderizing a steak.
Your attention turns to Kaveh, slumped over the kitchen table, his face buried in his hands as he groans softly in discomfort. A steaming cup of coffee sits beside him.
“How—how much did we drink last night?” you inquire.
“A whole bottle of raki before I had managed to finish the dinner preparations.” Alhaitam’s deadpan response leaves you wide-eyed. It all explains the raging hangover.
He suggests you take a seat and grab a coffee, while he finishes the crispy pancakes. You settle next to Kaveh, cradling your own mug of liquid relief, and observe as Alhaitam skillfully finishes his task.
He arranges the flatbread, arranging the pieces in three portions, and places them on the table. You gently nudge Kaveh awake, and he stirs from his light slumber. Alhaitam adds the final touch to the table — a jar of homemade honey and some soft butter, along with small bowls of nuts and raisins.
“You should probably check your Twitter,” Alhaitam suggests, casually dipping his msemen in the soft honey. Confusion clouds your mind for a moment, but within moments, the hazy recollections from the previous night rush back. Vaguely, you can recall venting to Kaveh about the whole Scaramouche bullying scandal, and unleashing your pent up frustration as a long twitter rant.
Panic sets in and a sharp ache throbs in your head.
With trembling hands, you unlock your phone and navigate to your Twitter app. Dread courses through your veins, you don’t feel ready to face the consequences of your drunken actions. The thought of the post and of the numerous quote retweets and comments fills you with embarrassment. You delete the post, desperate to erase your public outburst. Taking a deep breath, you navigate to your account settings and switch your profile to private.
Your heart pounds, as you muster the courage to open your message inbox. You silently pray that the vague memory of you insulting Scaramouche is just a mere figment of your imagination.
“Fuck.”

3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 + Noctua NF-A4x10 fan = overclocking
Or at least, it'll run a little cooler and hopefully add a few more years to the old girls life.
It's not that I need to overclock an old video card when I can easily use a newer card if I'd like more performance. It's more that by enhancing the cooling and seeing how much more performance is hidden in the device takes me back to my younger years when it became a way to saving a good chunk of money by investing in a cheaper CPU or video card and then squeezing out more FPS through some TLC.
The Voodoo 3 range runs pretty hot by default and don't feature any active cooling. So back in the day it was fairly common for people to slap on a fan in a basic way in order to try and cool down the card a little.
The Voodoo 3 2000 ran at 143Mhz (GPU & RAM) by default which typically gave it quite a lot of headroom for speeding up. Where as the Voodoo 3 3000 running at 166MHz was normally running close to it's limit. Those with a Voodoo 3 3500 were already at 183MHz and would be unlikely to squeeze much more out.
From research it seems that typically it's the memory on the cards that give out before the GPU. With memory chips being used with speed ratings ranging from 6ns, 5.5ns to even some 5ns. Those with lower ratings having more headroom to run at higher speeds.
So what could I get some my card? First up, let's attach that fan
The stock 3000 heatsink features two little holes at opposite ends which I thought would be perfect to looping a cable tie through. The first one went in without too much difficulty.
Unfortunately with the second I just couldn't squeeze the damn thing through. After much frustration I instead put a screw through the fan and used some pliers to squash the metal of the heatsink onto the thread of the screw.
Not as elegant as I would have liked, but it's held in place securely enough for my needs.
Once in the Pentium III mainboard it fits in nicely and thankfully doesn't hit the PCI header next to the AGP slot (Of course I checked this prior to securing the fan...)
So after all that, how much more performance does this card have to give?
I turned to Unreal, as it was already installed and felt like a suitable game for the era of the hardware and ran a timedemo at 1024x768 and 1280x1024 resolutions
An extra 14MHz gives an additional 6.5% performance at 1024 with a higher 1280 resolution giving a higher 9% uplift. Not earth shattering, but certainly a nice little bonus.
Unfortunately if I pushed the card any further Unreal would get a little psychedelic

hey. uh. whats up with your header image. why are the owl city albums ai-creachur-ified???
oh i just saw this lmao, i "made" that image when google deep dream first came out in 2015. i just put all the album and ep arts at the time in an image file and ran it through it a bunch of times and i thought it looked neat so i put it as my header. it was also made when this was an owl city fandomstuck blog, which isnt what this blog was originally or why i made my account in the first place. i actually made this to follow an edward elric cosplay ask blog, and before that i just had teenager posters and wtf fun facts just open on my phones browser for a hot fucking minute. have fun with that deep lore.
it was also at the time when i was learning what psychedelics were but before i tried them out so i thought it was cool to see what that might look like without having my brain fried. i now know that thats not what its actually like and how to stay safe, but going back to the actual image itself it's just been my header for so long and i see it so infrequently that i havent felt a need to change it. even then im not sure what id change it to.
both images are lost to my first laptops hard drive which im not even sure where it is anymore and i dont really feel like just changing it to the album arts. i cant change it to what it was before cuz i have no idea what it was before or if there was even a header before since i dont remember when tumblr added the mobile blog layout. if any of my mutuals from way back then happen to remember feel free to let me know. and if this answer wasnt satififactory or you just wanna know more feel free to send in another ask, the box is always open

My chosen typeface (week 3)
I changed my typeface from Arabesque to Raleway after learning it was vital for my typeface for the type specimen booklet assignment to have various font weights, italics and oblique, font width, contrast, legibility, leading, spacing, kerning etc. Arabesque only had 1 font, which I learnt wasn't suitable for the purpose of a type specimen booklet; to showcase the ways in which the chosen typeface can be used and expressed in many textual ways. (TYPE IS HERO)
I initially chose the HWT Arabesque display font because I was attracted to the groovy weights and psychedelic 70s style of the letters and it reminded me of waves and my love for the beach seen on my mood board. As mentioned before, due to only one kind of font being available for use within that typeface and the illegibility of the font my type book would virtually be one page! I've learnt that's not about how cool the typeface looks at first glance with fancy features often deeming it hard to read and its use of versatility but rather about the flexibility and applicability of the type with its unique and thoughtfully positioned elements like serifs, slabs and weights that give opportunity for purposeful contrast in type layouts etc.
Raleway:
Raleway is an elegant display sans-serif typeface, designed in a single thin weight. It is a display face that features both old style and lining numerals, standard and discretionary ligatures, a pretty complete set of diacritics, as well as a stylistic alternate inspired by more geometric sans-serif typefaces than its neo-grotesque inspired default character set. - https://www.theleagueofmoveabletype.com/raleway
Features of Raleway and advancements
The Raleway Font Family has 9 weights with italics, making this a great option for bold headers or subheaders, as well as legible but personable body copy font.
Initially designed as a single thin weight, it was expanded into a 9-weight family by Pablo Impallari and Rodrigo Fuenzalida in 2012 and iKerned by Igino Marini.
Raleway is classified as a neo-grotesque sans-serif font, created in 2010 by Matt McInerney and expanded by designers at The League of Movable Type. Neo-grotesque is a sub-category of grotesque fonts, which emerged in 1815 and were dubbed “ugly” and “obnoxious” when compared with their “sophisticated” predecessors: Roman and Serif type styles.
Neo-grotesque fonts are polished, sleek, contemporary versions of their grotesque ancestors. Raleway draws from this history its straight lines, minimal variation in line width, and seeming simplicity, yet if you look closely, you’ll find plenty of unique character in Raleway’s characters!
Because of it's minimalist style, Raleway is a must-have font for any designer’s toolkit. It’s highly legible, making it a great choice for both print and web and for any project targeted to a broad audience.
When Matt McInerney created Raleway, he named it to showcase some of the fonts more “unique and characteristic” letters. It’s these small details that make you look twice; the reader’s eye is drawn to these frequently used characters, and Raleway’s elegance shines through.
