The only award someone gave the chaeyoung apology post on kpop Reddit is a little animated one of the Reddit alien innocently picking up a letter, reading it, and its face then darkening in horror and confusion and yeah that’s how I feel when I see the contents of that post and then see it has over 1,400 comments

I feel like so many kpop fans disregard the work of the ppl behind the scenes while also blaming them for anything that they see as a hindrance to their groups and its so sick like smthn smthn no man is an island and bts's inability to find consistent collaborators was such a huge roadblock in creating a creative identity that evolves with them as artists. like!! I'm pretty sure pixy have worked with the same producers since debut and!!! what do u know!!! they have distinct artistic identity!! loona is a good example too bc they regularly worked w monotree from pre debut to butterfly and since they stopped working w monotree their sound has completely shifted + they were also pretty consistently working with digipedi for mvs and just from the TEASER for their newest comeback u can tell they switched. also I find it rly funny how many ppl were defending their last few releases when one of the members said he hated boy with luv??? like??? u think they like permission to dance???
yep yep yep!!! tons of idols work with the same creative teams; beat int has had the same stylist on payroll since a.c.e's debut, she's done all of their comebacks and now she's doing forestella's too! and sm also has a couple of resident stylists, including wook/punkyspider who has done all the senior sm artists cbs in the last three years at least. every person in a creative team has their own signatures and brings their own opinions to the table and that is so important to collaborative work. it's what gives the work depth, what makes it feel alive. aesthetics are so important to performance and they help shape everything about it, from how the work is conceptualized to how it is received by an audience. to actively ignore and not invest in that aspect is naive and shortsighted, especially when you are in an explicitly performance based industry. part of the reason why i started talking about kpop design here is because pretty much no one else is doing it, and talking about it is just as important as talking about dance or about the vocals. everything comes together to create the performance!!! you can't talk about one thing without taking into account the others!!!

tbh we already have 2023 in 2.5 months so to wait till 2025, another 2-2.5 years, for bts to be done w military is nothing. that's how long I waited between mots7 & proof in hopes for an actual cb + we'll get solo releases instead of english singles, so much better 😌
but I mean they could've already gone after mots7 or be tbh. would've saved us time (and me from ptd ugh). sad thing is also, they gotta cut their nice long hair 😭
but tbh a world tour would have been nice 🙃🙃🙃 I mean sorry I don't live in LA, seoul, Las Vegas or Busan. srsly especially if they knew they'd start enlisting at the end of the year they could've given us a last tour
it's not like they're touring in 60 cities anyway. it's usually only 15-20. it'd have been doable before letting us wait for another 3 years. so yeah, quite disappointed about that.
but otherwise I'm alright and excited for the solo releases.
I'm in this bangtan sonyeondan sht for life anyway.

I saw a post about some guy dating his army gf for about a year but he's getting insecure when she talks about bts when she gushes over him or say "shes in love with 7 men" and how much she loves them and he noted how passionately she talked about them etc and how he feels basically like there's always 7 ppl in front of him, and it made me wonder, if your partner felt this way what do you even say to them? honestly, when I say I love these men, I genuinely do, with all my heart. They hold a special place I don't think anyone else can touch. Not in a romantic sense but yeah idk how I'd explain, I never had to tell someone that lol. Curious how would u go about it? (I felt bad but I kinda laughed when he said he felt unloved when she talked about jk 😭😂) I think he needs to understand there's different types of love and it has nothing to do with their romantic relationship
okay so, funny story, i actually did break up w my bf like 5 months after i got into bts 😭 the break up was a long time in the making tbf (like before i got into bts) but he also kept making very insulting comments about them (which was even more weird bc i was very into kdramas before i even met him and he even knew that and went to watch parasite with me in theatres and enjoyed it??? so it was not even like generalized racism (which is common sadly but not w him) it was just specifically bangtan???) and i think bts' love yourself message also helped me a lot in the process but he never actually said you love them more than me or anything 😭 point being, i feel like if my s/o did say smth like that to me i would atp be like you literally knew what you were getting into when you started dating me bc i'm very clear even with all my friends when we become closer being like listen. i love bts and if that's a problem then you need to get over it. like my friends get passionate over their specific interests like sports (which is a lot more than 7 people....) or gaming (which my ex used to do for 10+ hours on weekends instead of hanging out 👍) or whatever so why can't i gush about bts i don't understand? as you said, it's different types of love and as much as i love bangtan, it's not a friendship or a relationship in the these are people i actually know personally way? but obviously i really do love them a lot even if i can't explain it? and like all of my friends have been pretty accepting about it, most of them listen to bts w me if we're just hanging out (some send me album reviews for each new bts album/song that drops that i link them to djfkdkf), one of them even watched the ptd concert w me bc it was while i was in class so i had one earphone in and i've watched vlives with them bc it started while we were eating or smth 😭 i can also tell them in advance that i'm busy on certain dates bc there's a concert/cb and they're like yeah, makes sense so i wouldn't expect any less from a s/o if my friends are so adjusting and don't feel unloved by it? 😭 it's not a daily occurrence and when they DO need me to be there, i will be there regardless of anything else so at the end of the day, i think that's what matters like, as long as she's with him when it's important it shouldn't be a problem i think 😭

What do you think of bts's photo concept for the cb ?
I don't really have much to say about it. I'm not a very concept or visually oriented person and I never understood the concept ideas.
We have to remember that this is all for an anthology album, so they are reflecting an old concept in a mature way in 2022 and the images seem to have been taken in the same time period as PTD, if we go by Jk's piercings.
I don't think anyone is bothered by this or thinks it's something to be upset about. Not even BTS cares that much since Tae posted some old pics that put everyone in actor tae mode and JK deleted his feed, causing a major meltdown in the same hour.
The concept itself has served its purpose and the members themselves are focusing on their solo work which is taking up more of their time.

Okay not gonna lie but if this was the big CB they’ve been hyping with a bunch of old songs I already own and only 3 new ones, I’m disappointed.
Especially since 1) the CDs are gonna be expensive, knowing how much BE’s whole packaging was plus the regular album (both will be different...have different content for collectors...)
But 2) j-hope’s mixtape has been pushed back for months for this and we know there would be AT LEAST 7 new songs given Hope World had 7, AND they teased he’s created like 15.
So 1 and a half years for 3 new songs? That’s a let down. Then again we only got 2 singles last year with Butter and PTD, so I guess an extra song is special.
I just don’t want to own more and more repeat albums, I don’t buy the series sets to begin with because of how you’re just buying the same album but 2 or 4 times. Now it’s an anthology and most of it will be nothing but old songs...

this is a bit random but i remembered you saying in your tags that your will to live dropped after ptd did and like... the real lasting legacy for ptd for me personally is that now i have trust issues every time a kpop group i like is about to release a song. like the preview for back for more sounds good and that makes me a bit optimistic but part of me is also cautious bc a preview is just a small snippet, what if the whole track turns out to be a song that i dislike and that i feel doesn't fit txt at all? maybe a few years ago i would've been purely excited but now there's always that part of me that's like "please don't be another ptd" so i feel cautious before every release
anyway this is just a vent and this is my own personal problem, like i said i think the preview sounds good and it's cool that other people are excited! this is just more of a "what if" nagging thought for me and sometimes i wonder if other fans feel the same or if i'm just being pessimistic
ok i talked too much so i'm adding a read more break here
JDKAJDJA i feel u 😔 personally i don't have a problem if i don't like a song one of my fav groups releases, so i won't be TOO disappointed if i don't like it. plus as someone from brazil i am REALLY excited to see them releasing a feature with a brazilian artist tbh 😭 my problem with ptd was the series of unfortunate events that lead us to that moment yk? like they were supposed to promote mots7 (which to me was a wonderful album) and go on tour, but then covid happened so the tour was cancelled, then they released dynamite... which was a BOP ngl i loved it i was just as obsessed as anyone else. but bighit saw how well the song performed internationally, especially in the usa, and seemed to become obsessed with trying to make bts appeal to the american media. so we got butter (and i was FUMING at the time bc txt had a cb with 0x1 shortly after a fcking bts comeback and i felt like they wouldn't stand a chance against bts on mysic shows and stuff 😭) and later on we got ptd which to me is honestly the weakest and most generic song bts has ever released. bts went from a group that co-wrote and co-produced most of their songs to a group that was being forced to only sing other people's generic stuff. (and i won't even mention BE bc that felt like a fever dream tbh it was literally released just as damage control and also at a specific time of the year so bts could win album of the year in 2021 without actually releasing an album in 2021.) and now that bts is on a hiatus i fear that they try to put them txt through a btsification process or smth idk???? but at least for now it doesn't seem to be the case. i don't mind them appealing to the american public and releasing songs that are meant to be a radio hit over there or whatever, as long as they don't lose their essence in the long run... and considering this album concept seems to be following that txt formula we know and love (since it's a continuation of the previous one, apparently), i think everything's still ok for now.
plus around the time do it like that was released they mentioned it on a welive that korean fans were getting kinda frustrated at how much promotion they were doing in the usa and not in korea and they were like don't worry we still have smth BIG coming up for us in korea, and i'm p sure they were talking about the album!! so i think we will survive. i hope. particularly i'm super excited to find out what the album is gonna sound like!! it's the first full album since freeze so hopefully we'll get many great tracks to jam to

How are you feeling about Jimin and Ha sung soon Ost? Psy and suga that that Mv? And BTS cb in June?
i love the jimin & sungwoon ost. it’s so pretty and suits their voices so much. 🥺 i feel kind of bad for sungwoon because people are acting like he’s not on it all but i guess that’s to be expected lol. and the that that video and song is soooo good!! it was nice to see yoongi shine and be silly and for him to show off his dance skills like that. the song is also catchy af. i think he and psy have a real mutual respect for each other and that’s why it turned out so great. and i absolutely can’t wait for the bts cb. it’s been wayyyyy too long and i miss my boys so much. i’m ready for the end of the ptd era and excited for whatever’s coming up next 🥰

I’m sorry but kpop comebacks haven’t been that good recently especially for bgs all noisy title tracks and choreos are either borrowed from each other or too simple because they want to hop on the tiktok train and I think bts’ recent stuff is better than any recent releases from bgs
i think ur referring to this post and like i'd clarify that i wasn't saying any song was better than another 😐 like bts's releases weren't better or worse than something from other kpop groups (because u know music is subjective) but the point i was making was that bts were hyped up as industry kings (and yes they are! theyre popular / wildly successful / a huge breakthru for asian artists in the west) honestly i have a personal gripe with how twitter armies are like '#AndNothingForKpop #BTSPOP (thus implying that bts is no longer kpop and apparently too big for kpop etc and u know what? i agree that a group doesn't need to be confined to a particular industry and nothing wrong with bts branching out) but then always feel the need to compare to other 3rd gen/4th gen kpop groups to bts
'xyz kpop reached ___ sales this comeback!' 'yeah?! well bts did ____ sales!!' 'xyz kpop group won this award and will perform at a show' 'well ACTUALLY bts stepped onto this stage first'
like make it make sense! 'bts aren't kpop, bts are bigger than kpop! bts are the biggest band in the world and are apparently so much holier and authentic than every other idol' sure i mean what do i know 😭 but then no other group is even allowed to enjoy success bc god god forbid they could be copying bts. but i digress!! very much so!! all i was saying is that for bts to have built up so much hype and everyone was awaiting this great comeback and then there was only like...3 new songs. yet to come was definitely closer to the sentimental sweet sort of song that i'd put on par with we are bulletproof the eternal (and i really liked run bts i was getting jiggy to it) but it wasn't like....a fantastic cb overall and then suddenly they're going into solo activities. and ofc! they should get a break and rest and decide to pursue what they want (in terms of artistic direction) but all im saying is that it didn't live up to the hype :/ like i was fighting for my life w irl friends when ptd came out saying 'bts have really spectacular award show stages and songs!!'
also in terms of bg trends lately, i totally agree that tiktok has ruined the music industry as a whole and a lot of songs are reduced to catchy hooks but it's honestly such a disservice to write off them as noise music.
im heavily biased towards svt so i can't speak too much there but even tho 'hot' was closer to noise/bombastic/loud music, their b-sides were insanely good!! the skz album was so cleanly produced like not a single miss on it imo!!
txt and enhypen's releases have been super good too!! it's not a matter of 'is the music GOOD' because everyone defines 'good' differently, it's a matter of...'are they releasing music that actually changes' like not even just boy groups, i would say so many kpop groups (stray kids, enhypen, txt, seventeen, twice, red velvet, stayc) are at least GIVING something, and concepts that are new and eyecatching w cool choreos (a pretty solid backbone of kpop) but for a group that is the most popular in the world and has had a great discography for years, bts hasn't really given anything new :/

Idk why its so hard to understand that loving a group or a musician and not liking everything they put out are two facts that can and will coexist
