Yes! You can find many examples of that here on tumblr! People will make Minecraft patches, Pride patches, people mix gremlincore and punk by making bug patches, teeth patches, etc. Absolutely combine your rainbow aesthetic (did someone say scene???) and punk aesthetic!!

how can i expand my punk wardrobe if i cant go thrifting right now? any tips for diy stuff?

It’s pretty easy to use house-hold stuff, for sure. Bleach can be used to tie-dye. Fabric scraps can be made patches. Soda cans can be made into spikes. A lot of people just use can tabs in DIY too either to make chains or just to sew them onto something. Those are just some options I’ve seen online or done myself.

any advice for someone who believes in punk philosophies but doesnt know how to get out and just Act? i have no idea where to start, how to make a diference, how to be active. internet rotted my brain to believe i have to fix 1000 problems every where and i cant fathom focusing on only one, and have no idea how to just get out and do something that helps people. except for the easy things, like donating money, those i know.

There’s nothing wrong with donating money, but some really, simple, easy things are donating actual items. Places to donate:

Women’s Shelters:

Blankets

Bedding

Towels

Clothes

Hygiene products

Baby/child needs

Toys/books/etc. for kids

Food Pantry:

Food

Hygiene products

Animal Shelter:

Cleaning supplies

Toys

Bedding

Food but be careful with this as switching animal’s foods can be hazardous to their health HOWEVER many shelters rely on food donations

Leashes/collars/harnesses

Any major city is going to have these three things and more. Go out, find them, follow their social medias if they have them, and when they post they need donations get something and drop it off.

Volunteer.

Homeless shelters

Food kitchens

Programs for domestic violence/human trafficking/etc.

After school programs for kids

Kids with special needs

Etc.

Many of these places also have opportunities to run booths at events to spread the word and do outreach to get more volunteers.

Like to craft? Make clothes and donate them. Make blankets and donate them. My grandma is part of a program that makes dresses and dolls with matching dresses for girls in third world countries because she loves to make quilts and sew and knit etc. When I was a Girl Scout we made those tie-blankets and donated them to the animal shelter. My grandfather used to volunteer to drive around vets to their doctors appointments and donate blood before his health worsened.

Other far-out ideas:

Get a certification in something useful like CPR

Find events that are looking for performers to fundraise and offer to perform if you have a skill

Dog-walk shelter dogs

Become a “big brother” or “big sister” to a child in need

Etc. there’s so much more but hopefully this can be some tangible, offline things.

If someone breaks into your house, what exactly are the cops going to do? Take a report?

Call your insurance if anything is missing.

Call someone to come stay with you for a few days as you try your best to emotionally recover.

Install more security, like cameras and locks.

If there is an actual crime in progress, then yeah, sure, call the cops.

I had to call the cops when I got into an accident the other night. That’s proper procedure under the law right now.

Don’t go out of your way to risk serious trouble to not follow the law just because you hate the establishment.

I got a ticket and I’m going to have to go to court to dispute it, but following the way the law works is better and safer for me than going “actually you know what fuck the government”.

My mom told me “If you don’t show up they’ll probably put a warrant out for your arrest. I’m sure you’d think that’s cool, but it’s not.” And I said “Why would I think that’s cool?”

Why would I want to put a target on my head?

Yeah, if you see someone shooting up a college, call the police. If there is an active crime, call the police.

However, there ARE alternatives when it’s not an active crime.

If you have information about a past crime (aka, someone told you they killed someone, you found a body that’s already been murdered, etc.) CALL CRIMESTOPPERS.

If you have to call 911 (like I had to last week) they’re going to ask you if you need fire, medical, or police. Because we were dealing with a medical emergency, only the paramedics came. No police.

To say that the police have never done anything good ever is to oversimplify things. You can want to overthrow a system but still need to work in it for the time being. You, random tumblr user, are not going to be the single downfall of the police. So if you need to use them, use them. But treat it as a last resort. If NOTHING else can be done or it is an EMERGENCY, then call the police. And even then, don’t expect them to actually do anything (I’m looking at you, Uvalde).

im still kind of a newbie to weed but i do swear by edibles. do a little dose, not a whole lot. im talking like 50mg. you wont be able to find a lot of edibles with that dose so youll have to cut them in half or thirds and sometimes the distribution isnt even, so youll get more/less high each time depending, but dont be afraid to only do a little bit and see how you feel!

also i get really twitchy so if that happens dont worry about it, its normal! your body reacts to it in lots of different ways

Def what I’ve heard in regards to edibles, but once again, no first hand experience. I know some people don’t like edibles at all though.

im planning to go to a protest for palestine on saturday and im really nervous… ive never been to a protest before. ive been reading about how to prepare and stuff but im just nervous about getting hurt or arrested… like, im aware its possible and i still want to attend, but im just scared

Unfortunately I don’t live near any big cities so I haven’t ever been to a protest (also live with a parent who oversees me so I would have to come up with an excuse as to why I’m driving to a major city). There was one in the city I worked in for BLM a few years ago and my mom outright was like don’t go to the city today there’s a protest so like. Unfortunately I do not have 100% autonomous control over where I go and when which is a downside to my living situation but the benefits of having free food and no rent and help paying my medical bills outweighs that so. I don’t think I have anything more useful to add besides the usual. Don’t wear stuff that can be grabbed easy or is visually marked. Stay with the crowd. If someone falls pick them up. Etc.
