I went to this workshop last week and really enjoyed time creating my poster, and had a great chat with Fiona about where my project and how I want to wrap it up.
A couple pics i took in the workshop
We were shown a couple of examples of posters in the workshop and this one really stuck out to me. I liked how Spotify codes were used and the colour scheme.
Here’s my poster before printing
Here’s my poster on the printer screen before I printed it out.
And the final poster, I tried out a couple different colour variations but found that this off white/ grey colour was the best. I found that the colours really popped out and gave it that vintage/ 70’s look I was going for.
Alike my " Go for a rollie?" print, i drew out the plan, aligned it and printed it. I decided on the colours red and orange because i felt they complemented each other and were different from the colours in my original print. Some of the colours didn't come out as clearly due to the letter and its background being too similar and so i filled it in with a white pen. Again, i am really happy with my final print and it turned out exactly how i planned.
This show happened to take place on the anniversary of The Great Rail Strike of 1877, and given the political (and train loving) sentiments of the bands involved, I decided to source all the images from archived local newspaper articles covering the event. Yay, history!
Im a part of back-pocket art collective and today (april 19th) at this art show. I'm selling dog nonsense patches and other patches, prints, arm warmers, and 2 paintings. There will be music performed by bands in the evening. I will be singing a song with new age doom. Starts at 3pm, ends at midnight. Address is 2205 commercial drive. Tickets $20 at door. All ages.
