The New Pup Meets His Big “Brother”… Not the warm reception we were hoping
Bet you have never seen a dog look this happy in a hoodie
There really isn’t anything better than coming home after a long day of work out in the cold, changing into some warm sweats and getting covered up by your massive dog. 27/10 good boy. (Don’t mind the scratch on his head; he got attacked by a psycho rottweiler at the dog park last week.)
Meet Gizmo my shih tzu.
There’s something about a puppy playing in snow that changes your perspective on winter.
People on dating apps asked if I can match his energy. No. No I can’t
how 2021 is going so far
Just felt like I’d share this super helpful strategy to bond with a dog. Not a dog breeder, trainer or vet, just your everyday goddess who has successfully made her three headed puppy so attached, her husband/god of the dead had to stage an intervention.
…Anyways, that got off topic. My words of wisdom? Massage your dog. Maybe you’re thinking “That’s obvious.” maybe “How?” maybe “But I pet him all the time already?” (That’s great, please continue doing so.) or maybe just “???”. Whatever is running through your head right now, let me elaborate.
Dogs, like people, can get aches and pains that are uncomfortable. Even if they feel fine, a massage can be a lovely relaxing thing for them.
All of this is of course, conditional upon the fact that your dog enjoys being petted and touched. If they do not, don’t try this. Even if they do, always watch their body language carefully, to observe what they are enjoying and what they are not. We don’t ever want to cause pain or discomfort.
How to begin: Watch some youtube videos! Learn a few things, and when your dog is in a relaxed mood, try it out. Start with broad strokes, learn what they are comfortable with, and go from there. For example, I learned that dogs’ shoulders often get tense, and tried applying pressure in the grooves of Cerberus’ neck and upper back. It’s one of his favorite things now. Recently I noticed him wagging his tail more when I played with his ears. Things like that.
After doing this for a while, my puppy has been much more likely to come to me for cuddles or curl up on my lap. I just wanted to share this because it has helped me so much. Hope it helps you as well!

Sometimes I take portraits of dogs I meet at the park, this is Blitz when he realized I was asking him to pose without even offering a treat
