Just a reminder that OCD is not a homogenous experience
Not everyone with OCD has contamination OCD
Not everyone with OCD washes their hands obsessively
Not everyone with OCD has observable compulsions
Not everyone with OCD feels the need to be neat and have symmetry
Not everyone with OCD worries about germs
Not everyone with OCD feels able to talk about their rituals, compulsions or intrusive thoughts

Having OCD is so isolating.
I have harm OCD. I feel like I can’t share anything going on that is distressing me because if other people knew they would look at me differently and I couldn’t blame them.
I’m not a violent person. I would never hurt anything or any one, but the shit that goes through my head is jsut downright disturbing. Things happening to me. Things I do to other people. Every other thought through my head makes me physically sick to my stomach. I can’t be in public for long amounts of times without panic attacks. I struggle to be around animals, which are my favorite things in the world.
It makes you feel like you’re disgusting, perverted, the problem with society. You’re the bad guy. It’s not true, that’s what OCD is it’s an anxiety disorder. It grabs onto the things your most afraid of and don’t want to think about and shoves it to the front of your mind for hours, days, weeks at a time.
For friends with ocd:
-you are loved
-you are not a bad person for having thoughts you cannot control. You are not a bad person.
-these are not urges they are intrusive thoughts. You do not want to do these things, they are simply thoughts.
-it is OK TO SHARE WITH PEOPLE YOU FEEL SAFE WITH! The more distressed you get about intrusive thoughts the worse they get! Seeking help is always the best option!
-research what therapy will work for you! Talk therapy has been shown to not be very effective in treating OCD!

Ocd is awful because you could think that you’ve put your mind at ease once you’ve done/fixed the thing you were ruminating about, then you start over analyzing that one thing again and again, trying to fix it or add onto it just to make it even worse than it was before.

i’m tired of people romanticizing mental illnesses.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is NOT being “cute and quirky needing everything to be organized 🤪🤪”
while there is a subtype of OCD needing things organized, it’s much more than just that. if you don’t have something organized the way it “needs” to be in your brain, then you freak out and panic and more times than not, ur brain convinces you something incredibly bad is going to happen. (i.e - if this blue wire isn’t right next to the purple wire, my house will burn down and hurt my entire family.) of course, it isn’t that extreme for every individual who has OCD, but for a majority.
it is also: •fearing everything is contaminated, •having such intense intrusive thoughts that you can’t shake and they end up causing extreme distress, •having physical responses to a negative intrusive thought making you believe you agree with the idea - which in turn makes you a “bad person”, •needing to make things “even” (i.e - touching a lightswitch 3 times with your left hand, then 3 more times with your right hand, spinning one way and having to spin the other way to be “balanced”, etc) •and so so SO much more. these are just a very small few examples.
OCD is an illness. not a personality trait. and although there are multiple ways to cope and live alongside this diagnosis, which always helps relieves some of the symptoms, it is still a painful and debilitating diagnosis.
please do research before spreading misinformation❤️
if i have anything incorrect in this post, kindly let me know. 🫶🏻

the autistic urge to perfectly categorise every single aspect of my identity is back and im now researching ocd at midnight and wondering if im faking it to be quirky tm or if this is a real and valid thing i might be experiencing (from what ive looked at so far it's likely that i have it but i feel like it just looks as if im diagnosis shopping from the outside, especially because ive already self dxxed with autism and adhd albeit with quite literally months of research so i know theyre valid diagnoses but imposter syndrome and hhhhhhh) that being said, if y'all have any resources and good research things//articles etc PLEASEEE reblog with em or link in the comments tyty

Its not easy to do but a really good way once you develop the skill with OCD is when you get a really uncomfortable gross intrusive thought or image that might result in a POCD, HOCD, or ROCD reaction, just do a double take at it, blink at tour brain and go "Aight thanks for the delightful and totally wanted, totally needed image ugh /s" andleave it at that. Give it little more creedance than a "ugh" like you saw a cursed post on tumblr and moooove on.
Its easier said than done but so helpful these days

tumblr is such a horrible place for people with ocd.
"if you do or did this youre BAD YOU'RE A HORRIBLE PERSON WHO DESERVES DEATH PENALTY FOR YOUR UNFORGIVABLE CRIME YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO CHANGE OR BE BETTER"
like, maybe understand that people aren't saints or human crap, if no one got directly harmed and if it isn't intentional, please explain things with a more positive len if is possible.
obviously this isn't about saying "hey guysss dont be a nazi thats bad :(((", im talking about mistakes anyone can make without necessarily having bad faith.

Real Event OCD / Pure OCD
-- . A person with Real Event OCD may excessively ruminate about what they did or did not do in the past, which causes them excessive guilt, shame, and anxiety. They may become fixated on the event and concerned about their character, morality, and goodness. As a response, a person typically engages in compulsions that involve spending extensive time playing the event repeatedly in their minds to answer questions, gain reassurance, and find validation for their actions.

happy disability month to all my baddies that take zoloft
I have a secret for you
part of the reason that zozo is so horrible at first is because it basically zaps the magnesium and potassium out of you
so when I was on it, the side effects were kicking my ass until I started incorporating things like bananas and kale into my diet and it actually worked, the pain subsided.
if you are taking this and struggling id highly suggest making sure that you make some smoothies about it
