Embracing the bad photoshops for the @savethegrishaverse tweet parties lately and thought it was time for some Jesper Fahey Barrel Flash, now with added Kazzle Dazzle. Someone on insta suggested posting stuff like this to the Netflix execs, so I ended buying a custom print send direct postcard from postable to do exactly that! I think out of all the graphics I've made this was one of the most popular despite so little time spent on it comparatively.

I think if used right, they can be great narative tools, either to give further insight or foreshadow stuff :3

11. Three tropes that are fine but overrated.

Well, I just wrote a fic that was a little critical of soulmate AUs so I should probably stick that there. I've read a couple of good ones, but in general I have some issues with soulmate AUs. I appreciate that my spell check is saying soulmate is not a word.

Coffee Shop AU is a common prompt fill for things because it's popular and I am out of ideas entirely. The fact I have twice written coffee shop AUs that ended up being canon divergence things rather than sticking to the coffee shop probably says something. Also I don't like coffee and I know a few names but latte is the only one I can spell so I end up either getting frustrated at spell check or trying to write stuff set in a coffee shop without mentioning coffees so if it's never a fill again I'm also good with that

I'm not sure about a third, I guess There Was Only One Bed? Though the Dracula bits with Mina and Jack watching Lucy sleep and it being this intimate, trusting thing I did like, I think it's probably mostly most days I'm way too sex repulsed for where this trope usually ends up

23. Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?

I feel I mostly write dialogue? Dialogue definitely feels like it comes more easily, I have no idea why description is so hard. Maybe because I don't necessarily have like a picture in my head I'm trying to describe to draw references from? I'm working on it.

28. Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?

I think the main one I've picked up is everyone has writing advice. A lot of that writing advice is going to contradict, that's because everyone works differently and if someone's advice isn't working, stop trying to follow it. There are no actual rules, nothing you need to follow, do what you want and what you find works for you. I guess things like read in the genre you're trying to write to kind of get a feel for things might help. The odd should of instead of should've or a me and them instead of them and I in your dialogue isn't actually a bad thing- it might be grammatically incorrect but people don't necessarily speak with perfect grammar. Or maybe just you're allowed to stop writing, to abandon ideas, or just write one scene and call it done, trying to write every idea as a long fic can get overwhelming, and trying to write too much for me ends up as me not being able to write anything at all. You can always save ideas for later and come back to it.

It was Talia who hurried past, the one who had accompanied Kalen to the front gate, who had mooned over Stephen—and who had left her seat at dinner early.

From head to foot, she was sheathed in a veil made of the same translucent fabric as what passed for the rest of her clothing.  Edged with lace, it flowed behind her, rippling wildly as though there was wind, shimmering as it caught the light.

She pressed the fabric to her eyes, gently dabbing tears.

That statement makes hope flare in her chest again, but she just wiggles her fingers at him with what she hopes passes for a flirtatious smile before shutting the door.

"I'm fine," Alex said, taking a step back. "Honestly, I'm used it it by now. Kyle's been a dick to me since we were thirteen."

"I don't understand why he's like that," Liz said softly.

"Some people just hate people who are different," Alex said. "And I'm different." He raked a hand through his hair, tugging it from its product hold. "I'm fine; you can go back if you want to."

well well well, look what i'm doing. not actually going to be a ""proper"" work in progress wednesday it's more gonna be me bitching about the chapter i'm supposed to post tomorrow. i'm hoping to get it written (it's all plotted out) bc i know if i don't then the story might not be updated until like six months have passed. and i don't want that.

today's WIP in chapter five of my genshin impact fic, 'the dragon rises above the sea' it has anywhere between 8 and 12 scenes and uh,,, i've barely written the first. oops?

today's goal is to write at least 6 of those scenes, which is between 75-50% of the chapter. this post will be reblogged at every even hour (10AM, 12PM, 2PM, etc) with a progress report until i either 1) go to sleep 2) complete the chapter.
