Dark Fam gets three shinies!!! Mimikins, Stellar, and Hyacinth.
Opal: Those aren’t hobbies… so no.
Opal: To fight? No, not really. I used to. For a very brief time, I was training every day, and I got all these supplies because I was certain I would do it. But like most things, I just lost interest and stopped.
Opal: I don’t want to be like him. In fact, I can be better, and I can do it in this form despite what anyone says.
Opal: I’m no bigger person; I would rub it in both their faces. Especially Beryl.
However, it would really be the day if I could. As much as I hate to admit it, I couldn’t beat either of them in a fair fight. Really burns me up inside. It would be truly unprofessional of me to use the Sigma Gun on them… Although… how would Dr. Steele be able to find out?
Opal: Haah… There are two in my litter. I get along… enough with my rockheaded boldore of a brother, Garnet. He’s sweet, but he’s a little bit dull. It’s hardly fair that he can be that strong without trying… And then there’s Beryl. He evolved into liepard when we were pretty young, and he rubs everything else he’s good at in my face. I’m not sure why I bother showing up to family gatherings when the only thing I get from him or my mom is, “When are you going to figure your life out, Opal?” Gah! Bah humbug.
Myu: My favorite holiday is the Star Celebration! Here in Alliair, it’s believed that the stars shine the brightest on the seventh day of the seventh month… So, July 7th! Two lovers separated by the Heavenly River sent their wishes to the stars every night, and on the seventh, Astramos the Wishmaker heard them. He granted their wish and the stars shone so brightly, they parted the river so they could meet.
I’ve… actually never been to a real festival… But my mother and I would eat our favorite berries together that day. You’re also supposed to write down your biggest wish of that year so Astramos might grant it.
Atticus: My favorite’s Halloween! How can ya beat getting free chocolate? And I like dressing up… Steven and Roxie let me go out ‘cause who can tell someone with a face like mine is under that sheet?
Topaz: I got told that there’s one called Valentine’s where you tell people you love 'em and give 'em candy. I like that!
Gamma: I’m thinkin’ if I can have a feast, it’s my favorite. I could really use a good meal right about now! I recall that Christmas was super cozy, though… Maybe not now that I have nowhere to live!
Clara: I do enjoy Christmas very much, if for Myu’s benefit. It was nice to just have our blankets out and enjoy the few gifts I could gather for her.
Steven: I’m into just about any holiday I can take off from work and eat food! Real big fan of New Year’s, though, but what self-respecting Kantonian isn’t? Then again, I’m used to the more lax Alliairian version; there are more rituals involved in Kanto.
As for personal rituals, me and Roxie play this drinking game every year… Basically, you’ve got these little jellies shaped like slugmas, but the catch is that they got a bit of poisonous muk slime in 'em. Don’t look at me like that, it’s not enough to kill you. And trust me! They taste awful. When it’s your turn, you roll a die, and on even numbers, you take a shot; on odd numbers, you have to eat one of those horrible things. Or you can pass on eating it, but the penalty is two shots. First to not be able to stomach it anymore loses. Way I see it, if you can survive that, you can take just about anything the year has to throw at you!
Roxanne: And Steven loses just about every time. I love Winter in general, and I love Christmas. It’s just such a cozy time! I’m very excited to start picking out presents for Atticus. Ohh, I’m gonna get him so many stuffed toys!
Dr. Steele: My work never takes a holiday. But I do like to make things festive around the holidays; I get a hat, and so do my jaws!
Matt: Oh, the Winter holidays are definitely my favorite, lad. I like gettin’ out 'n seein’ family – Oi, I can do that any time, but everyone else can make time too!
Caroline: Halloween’s very cute for the kids. It’s kind of a shame we don’t have a lot of kids in town, we try and make things fun for them around here.
Marie: Christmas is the time you get awesome gifts! Nothing beats that.
Sandy: My mom’s family is Alolan, so we do New Year’s that way! My mom and dad close the bank for a week, and every night we make really good food and shoot some firecrackers to celebrate the appearance of The Seven Dragons. That’s a group of stars!
Opal: I’m too old for Halloween, and as for Christmas… Well, any time spent with my brother is time I’d rather spend ripping my own fur out. I do look forward to Valentine’s Day every year, though, sweetie. It’s just so wonderfully romantic!
Opal: Not that kind of flattery. Save it for your fantasies, I’m off the market, and I certainly don’t date men.
Opal: Flattery absolutely will get you places with me, sweetheart. You’re aiming to be promoted as far as I’m concerned.
Matt: I enjoy a good ol’ fashioned western. Vigilantes makin’ their own rules – ain’t that just the fantasy?
Caroline: Hm… Romance movies. It’s sappy, but I like it.
Marie: Action, all the way!! I wanna see people punch each other!
Sandy: I really like… romances and musicals. It’s really cute when they wanna be together…
Atticus: I love comedy. Ah, what, predictable? I gotta hone my skills somewhere!
Clara: I was a fan of film noir back when that was very popular. Beyond the classical period, it is just not the same.
Opal: I love romances, but who doesn’t, sweetie? I watch them, and I wish that was me… Oh, who am I kidding? That is me.
Steven: I like sci-fi, but I think I already made that obvious. Specifically sci-fi fantasy, but some of the horror ones are fun.
Roxanne: I’ve always liked horror. Some of the more recent ones are kinda predictable and cheap, but it gives me an excuse to get close to Steven.
Dr. Steele: Thrillers really get the blood pumping! I want to be on the edge of my seat, and I want something gruesome to happen.
Steven: I’m a little bit stoked about paleontology, honestly. I’m no rock collector or anything, but I just think fossils are cool. There’s a lot you can learn about monsters from fossils, god damn it!
As a side note, I am pissed as hell that a lot of the more complete specimens get sold in auctions. Fucking, hello?! Monsters disintegrate when they die, do you know how rare that is, to find complete parts of them?! Urrgh, I’m gonna get worked up if I think about this too long!!
Roxanne: If you start pacing the floor over this again, you’re gonna start making a rut.
I’ve always had a small interest in astronomy! It’s even more math-intensive, though. It’s sort of fantastical, isn’t it?! Imagine how many stars and nebulae are out there… Imagine how many planets might have life on them! I’m quite content with genetics, but in another life, maybe.
Dr. Steele: Microbiology is interesting, isn’t it? Microorganisms have existed far longer than you or I have, and their relationship with magic is marvelous – Did you know that some have been known colonize mystery dungeons so magically-potent that we cannot enter them without protective gear? Stunning! They get a gold star from me.
Opal: Well, I really am enjoying biology, darling! Hm… I did peak into immunology a little bit, since it’s somewhat of a related science.. Isn’t it interesting how immune systems work? And how many things can influence them, too! Well, I wouldn’t dare claim to be an expert, sweetheart, but I wouldn’t mind learning more.
Opal: One of us has claws. It’s probably not you.
Opal: Only if they prove to be a distraction.
Opal: Do you think I’m going to brag about it? I am only doing what I think is necessary, sweetie – Alexandria was the first, and an unfortunate turn of events. If only she weren’t so lovely…
