32. Do you have a favorite towel?

No, but I have a favorite color of towel. Ours are yellow, teal, and navy blue (the shower curtain is Hokusai's Great Wave) and I always am happiest when I get the navy blue ones

33. The last adventure you've been on?

For Del's birthday this year I took him to the Garland district, an area on the other end of the city that he's never been to and we did some exploring and thrifting and tried some new restaurants. They have an amazing renovated vintage style theater, too.

36. How many times have you changed your url?

Just the once, I think it was like 5-ish years ago I changed pretty much everything over from qglas to mycupofstars

38. A soap bar that smells good?

I have a rosemary ginger mint bar in my kitchen that smells amazing and de-garlic-stinks my poor hands

Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?

Alexis Hall and Kate Clayborn are two new romance authors that I’m eagerly waiting for more works from. I also didn’t discover Becky Chambers this year but I did discover that I would die for her, which is very similar. 

Did you get into any new genres?

Thanks to Amelia, I read the first books of The Shadow Campaigns by Django Wexler, which are the first military fantasies I’ve ever read. The battle scenes in these books are genuinely so exciting and so well explained that I know hubristically believe I understand marching formation of the Napoleonic era but also with demons. Also, waaaaaaaaaaay more lesbian and full of Gender Stuff than you’d expect! Good! 

(so I guess I didn’t get into the genre as much as I got into Django Wexler...) 

What reading goals do you have for next year?

I’m torn between moving away from number of books as a metric for success versus going WHOLE HOG BABY 2021 IS THE YEAR I FINALLY READ 200 BOOKS IN A YEAR!!!

Colin Firth!

So, after I read that post properly, I’ve been playing this game wrong and just naming ONE of my favorite films. Ah well. I’m gonna continue on with my misunderstanding.

For Colin, my favorite movie with him in it? Kingsman.

I like most of Colin’s Firth’s movies, but of course this one is my favorite. I will say he was great in the Brigette Jones movies, but Kingsman. I mean...because it’s fucking Kingsman and that Kentucky church scene where he just goes MENTAL? Yes. Not to mention I had seen other movies with Colin in them and when I watched that scene? I was like...is this the same man?

Loved it.

I am, I'm about halfway through Son of a Trickster by Eden Robinson and I just started The Consorts by N.A. Moore, who's a friend of mine. The book is a queer fantasy and you should totally check it out!

My favourite smell is the scent of my dog, I know it's kind of a weird one, but I love her so much that her smell feels like home. After that, my favourite smell is lavender

14, if you can live anywhere in the world where would it be? why? Somewhere in Oregon or Washington where there’s good public transit and access to Amtrac so I can visit my family or travel without having to get sardined onto a plane

30  whats your favorite candle scent? The only candle scents I am aware of are Headache and Watery Allergy Eyes. So unscented for the win

50  what was the last text you sent? “Aw, he’s crying now.”  My neighbor was away from her house and wanted me to let her know if her new puppy started getting fussy so she could rush home and let him in

82  favorite ice cream flavor? I just had some really good salted caramel ice cream, but really I think my favorite flavor is probably orange sherbert.

Okay I’m from the land of funeral potatoes so I just had to look up funeral sandwiches. What other delicious grief foods am I missing out on?

These are the only two that I personally know of. I am also from the land of funeral potatoes, and funeral sandwiches came to me from friends in the American south. 

And I totally just made a very small batch of savory caramel and well done, me. It’s exactly what I wanted.
