it's a day for finding furry friends! coincidentally, we also found a friend who presumably belongs to a neighbor this morning, too:

definitely a pet, looks nothing like local cottontails and a lot bigger than them too. very unafraid of people and will hop up to you. she's in the backyard and we've put out some water and are still trying to figure out who she belongs to....

Mumbo is then convinced Grian is not Grian.

anon this make a genuinely hilarious fanfic like grian is so desperately trying to act Totally Normal about mumbo that mumbo thinks something is wrong with him. he begins to wonder if grian is sick, or has been replaced with a clone, or maybe even that grian didn't miss him much :( so he begins trying to solve this mystery and poke around because the best option here is clearly that grian has been replaced with an imposter (amongus ref...intended...) and then he finally stumbles onto the shrine. grian was following him because now HE thinks MUMBO is acting weird, and then sees that mumbo has seen the shrine. and grian is like I DIDNT WANT TO YOU TO SEE THAT IT'S WEIRD IM SORRY

and mumbo just hugs him like OH THANK GOD YOU'RE ACTING NORMAL AGAIN

okay wanda i had the world's busiest weekend so i was just staring at this ask for like a few days but YESSSS!

i'm always so happy when anything happens to reinforce jimmy's status as a listener/listener-aligned xD so many people forget my boy. Also, not to be someone who keeps bringing things back to my own fanfics, but it really reminded me of my Listener!Jimmy fic from last year where the Listeners spoke in Jimmy's head the entire time. Like hmm, maybe that's just something they can do,

Also, I like that Grian couldn't see Jimmy. Remember he was confused in the beginning that Jimmy could see him despite not appearing on the tab list? Spectators show up on the tab list normally. Jimmy didn't appear on the list and Grian was like, "I don't think you can see me" until Jimmy started saying what he was doing. Jimmy was logged on in spectator mode, but he was vanished which removed him from the list. Which of course is how the task had to be done, or else anyone on the server could've hit tab and seen that Jimmy was online for some reason. But I also think that's just. very interesting, within the world of the story. Grian's a Watcher but he couldn't see the Listener.

That's fun to me. Do their powers sort of conflict/cancel out? Can their powers hide them from view? Idk but it's fascinating to think about. Also, totally right with the Listener who has to Watch and the Watcher who has to Listen. I'm fond of thinking of Watchers and Listeners as very very similar, and I feel like this just sort of reinforced the idea that they're sides of the same coin or something.

Also it's fun that in-universe calling someone on discord is considered "using ethereal means to set up communication" LOL. jimmy's using magic to talk to grian, confirmed

scar joked on stream once that they should team up and just do everything they can to keep jimmy alive so that he doesn't go out first, whereas grian was like no he has to die first it's the Rule. my proposal for the new series is that scar forms a faction dedicated to protecting jimmy, while grian forms a faction dedicated to killing jimmy as soon as possible. jimmy gets to be the center of attention, we'll get the scar+jimmy teamup back from the crossover, AND there's basis for desert duo drama. it's perfect for everyone.

this is literally the ideal life series concept for me. having all attention be on My Guy is so much fun. i wonder if they'd succeed in keeping jimmy alive. seems it's easier to kill someone than protect them...

i do hope that jimmy gets someone with him who's really there to support him, like tango was in double life. or having scott for the flower husbands thing. southlands was....a bit more painful, since jimmy sort of fractured/betrayed the group when he stole the life, although he still technically had people then. but he needs someone on his side for sure or else it's not fun
