Today is probably the most productive fun day I've had in awhile. I made English muffin bread this morning and now I'm watching Mother Goose Rock N' Rhyme while my naan dough rests.

Hello Food Fans! What a time to be alive!
So Huel is a life saver. My husband and I followed the advice from our government not to panic buy. They said there would be plenty of food for everyone. Turns out there is not!
Husband and I are in isolation right now. Because of my health issues I am a “vulnerable person” and we live in a studio flat so we can’t isolate from each other. So for the foreseeable future we are locked in a room together.
It’s not the end of the world though! We have a cupboard full of Huel, some basic baking supplies and a new shiny subscription to Mindful Chef. With all the extra time on our hands, we should be able to learn some new interesting healthy recipes, bake some nutritious but delicious goodies and keep to our two a day Huel routine.
I shall keep you all updated! Stay safe out there guys! Don’t forget your social distancing.

Newsletters: A Comprehensive Guide
If you’re just getting started with getting back into e-mails version of a love letter or if you’re looking for some new recommends, I hope you find some that you like here! I will consistently update with ones I find wonderful, or feel free to comment with a favorite. :)
Most of these are also published on Substack, which allow you to look at the archive most times, so you can try before you buy. :)
Food
Cooking In Quarantine with Sam Koppelman [+] A quarantine started newsletter with chefs that provide cooking tips and tricks for motivated/intermediate cooks. A beefy read. Frequency seems to be every few days
Bon Appetit [+] America’s FAVORITE test kitchen (of course) is a place to subscribe, but ONLY IF you do not read the magazine or follow them on the ‘gram. If you only do one of these, I might still subscribe. The quaratine dispatches have been quite insightful and the programming rich. I would also subscribe to Basically and Healthyish, or some combo based on your interests. Be forewarned: if you do all three, its a lot of BA.
Tech/Think/News
Ideaspace by Yancey Strickler. [+] This is the dude that started Kickstarter, he used to be a music critic, he’s really into current events, ways to be a better critical thinker and is a pretty great writer. This is a good grab bag, a “snapshot” of current events that always includes his takes and often times a very decent playlist. Frequency is weekly.
Morning Brew [+] Chances are you may subscribe to this one. Their take on the news is friendly, upbeat and incredibly spirited. If you like your news with a little pizazz or just want to know the very important updates, this is a good newsletter for you. They have other side jams, such as The Essentials and a few others you can try out that are a little more targeted. Also there are games! Everyday! Frequency is, you guessed it, every weekday.
Wellness/Witchy/Horoscopes
Jessica Lanyadoo [+] Shout out to Oakland! One of my favorite astrologers out there today who is also a pet communicator? Don’t knock it till you try it. She also has a great podcast called Ghost of A Podcast. Frequency of the newsletter and the pod are weekly.
Nadine Jane [+] No offense to Jessica, but Nadine is my actual favorite. This newsletter encourages you to read your rising sign before any others, then fall down the chain to dominant than moon to determine your true monthly horoscope. These are creative, in-depth, intuitive and incredibly revealing. I love her style. I would pay for this newsletter if she started charging because the readings are so beautiful. Frequency is once a month. (Also don’t know your rising, moon, sun!??! Download Co-Star and get your birth chart for free!)
Comedy/Humor
Who’s On Judge Mathis Today? [+] Samantha Irby is one of the few writers today that legitimately embarrasses me in public by making me cry and howl with laughter. Instead of writing her assignments, she procrastinates by watching Judge Mathis everyday and giving her take on the events. Warning: graphic language (but if you’re an adult you should give it a shot). In quarantine, the frequency seems to be everyday.
Ladies Only
Girls Night In [+] Ironically, not a quarantine started newsletter, GNI is a great little place to gather for some tender memes, deep reads, workout tips and general warm hug. Not a deep read by any means but usually some really great links to writers you may not be familiar with or a good instagram. Frequency is every Friday, and some one off special editions.
The Newsette [+] A daily reminder that self-care, a little shopping, a little treat and a little think are all gonna put you on your feet first thing in the morning. Just slightly leaning towards “influencer daily” vibes, this is for the girl who loves to stay fit, look cute and stay on top of it. Frequency is every week day.
Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues [+] Full quirky ahead! This gal got me back into newsletters with all of her incredibly niche knowledge and recurring themes (Motivational Britney! Frock Of The Month!) She goes deep on something incredibly random every three weeks in so many different ways and I am here for it. Part art, part strange, part celebrity voyeur, part design, part history and part feminism, it might seem a little weird but I think there is something here for everyone. Frequency is every three weeks.
Well To Do [+] For an awesome female lensed take on the news, look no further. Rina engages with her tone but also subject choices, and always has something incredibly interesting/hardhitting and incredibly fun to balance it out. I love this one!

Common & Tiffany Haddish Are Quarantine BAEs! Don’t Believe Us? Watch!
Tumblr media
Oh! It’s official official now! Common & Tiffany Haddish are quarantined…together! Don’t believe us? See the receipts inside…
Rumors about Common and Tiffany Haddish dating have been swirling for quite a while. Now, it’s official. And it doesn’t get any more official than this.
Yesterday, Cedric the Entertainer hosted the Def Comedy Jam “Healing Through Laughter” Coronavirus fundraiser, which streamed on Facebook Live. Several comedians participated in the comedy event, including Girls Trip actress Tiffany Haddish. Folks were expecting laughs, but Tiff dropped an “exclusive.” First, she mentioned she was quarantined with a friend had a vegan chef cook them meals. She showed the chef, and then said she got meat for herself and was planning to eat the vegan sides.
Tiffany put the camera on Common in the background before handing him her phone so he could chop it up with Cedric the Entertainer! Yep, they’re quarantined together.
“That was an exclusive. And because since we’re on quarantine, I can’t get my Depo shot [birth control], so let’s see what happens,” the Night School actress told Ced after Common signed off.
Oop.
Check it below:
Yeah, they're definitely more than "friends" and we know that because Beyonce's mom, Tina Lawson, tipped us all of about their relationship earlier this month:

And this was after we started suspecting their relationship for the past several months, but Tiffany swore they were "just friends."
As you know, Common's last girlfriend was CNN political analyst Angela Rye. A few months ago, Angela revealed she and the Chi-town rapper called it quits for good because they "wanted different things."  Common and Angela called it quits in October 2019.
The Oscar winner & EMMY winner - who both star in The Kitchen - both paid a visit to Hollywood legend Harry Belafonte a few months ago, further fueling dating rumors. "The Chi" actor/executive producer was also in attendance for Tiffany's "Black Mitzvah" event to celebrate her 40th birthday and her Netflix comedy show. He also hit up an intimate birthday bash with Tiffany's family and friends.
Last summer (while Common and Angela were broken up), Common and Tiffany (atop at his Toast to the Arts event in March 2018) sparked dating rumors when video of them surfaced exiting a party in New York and hopping in the same SUV.
In other Tiffany news...

The SELF MADE actress recently released a new song titled "Come Get Your Baby Daddy" off She Ready Records. Lawd. Peep the visuals above. L-O-L.
Maybe Common gave her some pointers.
By the way, if you haven't seen Tiffany in Netflix's SELF MADE series, you should check it out.

The Answer Is Tots added to Google Docs
The Answer Is Tots
There are two modes of quarantine cooking: project cooking and fuck-it cooking. The Tater Tot satisfies both.
It’s week seven of lockdown, or maybe eight, or maybe it’s actually 25 — time seems to loop, like life is now one of the more unsettling episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Billions of microbes have lived and died in the sticky slurry of your sourdough starter, and the last two loaves turned out gummy and flat. All those beautiful bags of beans taste exactly the same, like beans. The grocery store is out of weird things now, like ice cream with crunchy bits and pecans and soy sauce. Your farm box overflows with obligations to cook vegetables, again, forever, until you or they rot. The complicated dance of unboxing takeout, with as many hand-scrubbings as open-heart surgery, is unbearable. It’s time for tots.
The Tater Tot is the ribollita of the American processed food industry, a dish made of scraps and leavings that is maybe more beloved than the food of whose scraps it’s made. Invented by the frozen potato impresarios behind Ore-Ida in the 1950s, Tater Tots are neat spherical nubbins of potato shavings leftover from making french fries, which are then formed, fried, and frozen. Their natural habitats are Wednesday night dinners and school cafeterias. (Ore-Ida, now owned by Kraft Heinz, holds a trademark on “Tater Tot,” but any tot-like potato ingot applies here.) When done right, the Tater Tot’s crispy, textured exterior yields to a creamy middle, and their small size allows for an endless cascade of crunchy-to-creamy texture while eating. Unlike french fries, which are vastly superior made in a fryer by professionals, Tater Tots are pretty damn good made at home.
There are two modes of quarantine cooking: project cooking and fuck it cooking. The tot, a surprisingly versatile ingredient, satisfies both. For the completely fed up, the Tater Tot in its purest form, as a hot crispy nugget, is a mere ripped-open bag and 20-ish minutes in a hot oven away. They’re delightful with something else utterly uncomplicated like scrambled eggs or a pork chop, or maybe with nothing more than ketchup or a beer. If you want a little variety, you can sprinkle a spice mix on them — maybe Lawry’s Seasoned Salt or Old Bay — or grate some parmesan, or sprinkle some herbs. Now you’ve got fancy tots.
From there, things can get as complicated as you like. Tater Tots are the second-most popular potato item in food service — Nation’s Restaurant News called them “the new potato skins,” a reincarnation we’ve all been anxiously awaiting — and restaurants and food trucks have made an art of gussying up tots with enough wild ingredients until they might feel worth charging $7 for. The most well-known version of tot smothering is totchos, a staple at Mexican restaurants and other nacho-friendly establishments across the northwest, where Tater Tots (or a shredded potato product closely resembling them) are heaped with cheese, salsa, olives, and sour cream. In the food truck and bar food wilds, there are baked potato tots, pastrami tots, longanisa tots, Tater Tot parm, queso tots, bulgogi tots — if you have some kind of creamy topping, fatty meat, and/or cheese, you’ve got loaded tots.
For those maintaining their sanity by cooking elaborate comfort food, tidy rows of Tater Tots crown casseroles, especially the iconic upper Midwestern casseroles known as hotdish. The most basic hotdish is not much more than some ground meat, a canned cream soup, and the kind of vegetables found in the freezer section, topped with tots. But the blogger Molly Yeh, who lives in North Dakota and has a knack for creating playful and thoughtful recipes mashing up her food nerd sensibilities with the Upper Midwestern food culture, has created an impressive array of hotdish recipes with scratch-made roux or surprising ingredients, many of them topped with tots. The chicken pot hotdish and harissa chickpea hotdish might not scream May but they do scream comfort and also: tots.
The more deranged corners of project cooking have plenty of room for tots — they waffle and pizza — and of course there’s the ultimate project: Making them yourself, which will involve cooking the potatoes, processing them into chunks, and deep-frying your tots. Michel Richard has a recipe involving gelatin, which is a very French chef way to approach tots; other recipes allege making your own is more fun than opening a bag. Maybe for some! But the only person I know making her own tots is my friend who lives in rural France and sends us pictures of the goats she meets during quarantine. If you have the good fortune to live near an American supermarket with a non-ransacked freezer case, let your sourdough starter continue to do all the mercurial work in the kitchen, and let the American food industrial complex do what it does best, which is tots.
