Trigger warning for death/suicide/overdose
Ok so actually it was really important to me that they didn’t show Frank and Bill’s bodies. Like. Hear me out
This is a show that is centered on death and what people leave behind and physical remnants of the past. This is a show that does not shy away from gore or bodies or tragedy. In other words, this is a show where I 100% expected a close up shot of Bill and Frank dead in their bedroom after od’ing.
And. There. Wasn’t.
It’s so important to me, and I’m sure many others, that this wasn’t a “Bury your gays” type thing. Bill and Frank’s entire backstory—all 90 minutes of it—painted such a beautiful and intimate picture of love and life through unimaginable horrors. They drank the fine wine. They spent time on the boutique. They planted the strawberries.
Yeah, it ends with them dead. But they died in their own time in their own way, with each other in the comfort of their homes. They took control in an uncontrollable situation.
It would’ve been so easy for Joel and Ellie to find their bodies, for the audience to see this beautiful (yet tragic) moment turned into some gore-porn that served minimal purpose to the narrative.
BUT. THEY. DIDN’T.
They allowed Bill and Frank’s story to end with dignity, to end with them still in control of their narrative. Ellie and Joel respected their final wishes. Do not look in the bedroom. Even though it was just the illusion of a normal, “perfect” life, it was what they had.
100% kudos to the creators for not showing their bodies. For showing their characters, their story—the story of hundreds or thousands of queer people—that there is dignity. There is respect. Loved in life, cared for in death.
Idk. My thoughts are fucking incoherent right now. We don’t need to see two old gays dead from an overdose in an apocalyptic world. We need to see the full, loving life they lived—a life where they took control of the narrative, even just for a bit, and didn’t lose that control even after the end.

HELP DEUCE JUST GOT FRENCHIFIED 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really love the unique dynamics from this event lol
Tumblr media
🥲🥲🥲 This made me sob... No one really can understand them like they do with each other... 😭😭
Outsiders like Azul and Idia thinks theyre just overreacting but considering how Malleus, Silver and Sebek ONLY has each other as they grew up...
(Malleus and Silver being isolated because of their status and obviously Sebek wasnt that accepted by his own grandpa either...)
So Of course any type of peril happening between them —no matter how trivial— would cause them all to immediately worry😭✨ I love it I love how they always try to care for each other at all times.😭😭💖💖
Tumblr media
Yuu and Grim can relate XD
Tumblr media
No but seriously the gargoyle and Malleus meeting reminds me of Yuu and Malleus meeting lolol 🥺💞💕💞Maybe I'm just reaching.... 😂😂
but I remember a long comment that Malleus most especially notices with us because were similar to a gargoyle— avoided because we're strange and our efforts and "function"(as prefect) are barely recognized.
It also doesnt help that the gargoyle's language sounds like Grim lol 😂 Gargoyle says he lives for eons now and that he never left the tower bcs he's a stone.... so why he speaks such a modern form of language??😂😂 He's using more slang than Malleus who's trying to learn to socialize.... 😂
Tumblr media
Ohhh this part made me sad as well because We know in SSR Rollo's vignette that he was hating the gargoyles as he cleans them 😭😭😭😭
Tumblr media
I want this text pasted on my study incase I'm guving up on the grind lolol
Tumblr media
AAAAAAAHHHHHH HE SAID IT HE SAID IT‼️‼️‼️‼️ THE LINE WHERE THE GARGOYLES WAS ENCOURAGING QUASIMODO TO SAVE ESMERALDA BUT QUASIMODO WAS CONVINCED SHE DOESNT NEED HIM AJDJAJD 😭😭😭😭‼️‼️‼️
Tumblr media
On another note, I think the gargoyle DOES REMIND me of Lilia because of these last lines .....🥲🥲🥲🥲
"He runs on little magic so losing a little power is fatal for him" Lilia running out of magic 😭😭😭
"He was worried about him till the very end even though Hes the one responsible" I CANT KNOWING THAT LILIA *WILL* CONFRONT MALLEUS ABOUT HIS OVERBLOT...😭😭
I hope he'll be the one to understand him 🥲🥲💞💞💞

"This Wish" Reimagined
Asha's "I Want" song in my Wish rewrite
Tumblr media
Something that quite bothered me in Wish’s “I want song” is that I never really… Connected with Asha as a character while listening to it.
With Ariel we WANT to see her get to the surface.
With Quasimodo we WANT to see him out of Notre Dame.
With Mirabel we WANT to see her make her family proud.
With Asha I want… her to have more than this…?
And what is “this”? Like, the subject is vague, and that’s because the song writer Julia Michels was asked to just “Write a song about a young woman that wants to fight an corrupt system” which is a neat concept… But Julia didn’t know what that corrupt system even was doing, I’m not joking, she said so on interviews, AND SHE SAID DISNEY ASKED HER TO DO IT IN 3 WEEKS LIKE GIRL!?
Anyway, as a result, I can’t really relate to Asha’s struggles because the song feel like it could be sang by ANYONE facing a hard situation where they “May be young but are not wrong” or “Have hesitations about what to do”…
But who is ASHA in this, aside from the person who is singing the song? Yeah, she wants more, but more WHAT?! You can listen to “When will my life begin” without watching Tangled and you’ll totally understand what Rapunzel’s personality is and what she wants… But in This Wish?… I don’t know who the heck is Asha, and I watched the movie!
It doesn’t help that in the movie the BIG HORRIBLE REVEAL that Asha is facing is that the system that only grants one wish per month… isn’t granting EVERYONE’S wishes… when that should’ve been common sense, like, does no one in Rosas understand basic math???
In my rewrite though, Asha has been silently questioning the system around her but knowing full well she couldn’t change it so she just accepted it, until the day arrived for her to give away her wish to conform to the expectations. She said she didn’t want to, and questioned if the king even granted all the wishes like he said he did. Seeing that she had spirit, the king and queen gaslight, gatekeep and girlboss manipulated her to get a wish out of her, and after that, by peeking through a door, Asha discovered the truth about her kingdom’s wish system, a truth so terrifying for her that she ran as far away as she could. And with no one else to help her… She made a wish upon a star.
(There, I summarized my rewrite so far, if that sounds cool to you consider checking it out here)
I think that’s a more interesting premise, and it gives Asha more nuance, but how do you translate ALL THAT into one song? Well, here’s how I’d change “This Wish” to do that:
“This Wish”
Should have listened to my own instincts No time to cry now for what could have been If I could show them everything I've seen Open their eyes to all the lies then Would they believe in me or in them? But when I speak, they tell me, "Sit down" But how can I when I've already started runnin'? All I wanted to do was grant my wish on my own But now that wish's stolen and, I am all alone [Chorus] So I look up at the stars to guide me For I know they can send me a sign If knowing what it could be is what drives me Then let me be the first to stand in line So I make this wish Asking us for freedom, hope and bliss So I make this wish To have something more for us than this [Post-Chorus] Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah-ah More than this, oh-ah-ah-ah For many years they’ve been tricking us all Yeah, they said “We’ll protect you” while being our downfall Now what’s a girl like me supposed to do? How do you fight a king and queen? oh and they’ve got magic too! And all I've got is reservations and hesitations On where I should even begin I'm past dipping my toes in But I'm not, no, I'm not past diving in If I could just be pointed in any given direction On where to go and what to do My legs are shaking, but my head's held high The way you always taught me to [Chorus] So I look up at the stars to guide me For I know they will send me a sign I'm sure there will be challenges that find me But I can take them on one at a time So I make this wish Asking us for freedom, hope and bliss So I make this wish To have something more for us than this [Post-Chorus] Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah (So I make this wish) Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah-ah (To have something more) More than this, oh-ah-ah-ah [Outro] So I make this wish To have something more for us than this!
Thank You For Reading!

Natal SUN/PLUTO Aspects The Quest for Authenticity🕯️
Let me set the vibe, first.
It's a brand-new playlist, and I do accept recommendations!
The Sun in astrology is the archetypal King figure. It represents our consciousness, the pure awareness that I AM. Every planet has its own WILL, and the Sun’s will is to BE — to shine and express itself into the world. This is our personality and ego, but also our Life Force, a.k.a Spirit. When we look at the Sun and its aspects/house placement, we see what gives us a sense of fulfillment and purpose in life.
On the other hand, Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld, the Sorcerer hidden away from the light. It’s a generational planet that helps us heal and evolve spiritually by putting us in critical situations. Similarly to Uranus and Neptune, Pluto is an Outcast , a Divergent— the opposite of the widely accepted and adored King. I personally imagine him as a Quasimodo-looking character, but make no mistake. Pluto is immensely powerful.
When these two unite, it’s uncomfortable for both. Pluto feels exposed, and it desperately wants to hide away from the light, whereas the Sun feels like it’s been covered with a thick cloak of darkness.
The Aspect is Most Potent if:
it’s within 5 degrees (those are the orbs that I’m using)
it’s APPLYING instead of SEPARATING
it's a conjunction, square, opposition, quincunx, or quintile (harmonious aspects are usually less intense, especially the Trine)
SUN/PLUTO NOTES
📌 This is a highly karmic aspect - especially karma from their father or paternal side of the family. They are essentially breaking the taboos and secrets their ancestors couldn't didn't dare to speak about and confront. These people are the ILLUMINATORS who shift their family's paradigm around heavier, darker topics. They don't have to dig for any familial secrets, though. If they do their personal shadow work, they will break the chains of karma for all past and future generations.
📌They might become socially powerful and be known for their power/sexuality/mystery/criminal activity or occult/healing abilities. They could also become self-obsessed, or obsessed with their goals and desire to be known.
📌The Sun represents a woman's ideal husband, which is why in a woman's chart, this aspect can be really dangerous. She might be unconsciously attracted to (and even marry) abusive, controlling, really DARK individuals. They will mirror, and take to an extreme, her own unintegrated Shadow and/or unresolved daddy issues.
📌You might know these people for a long time, and not actually know them. Some of them have IMPENETRABLE defenses. When they do let someone in, they are terrified of being truly seen - with their good, bad, and ugly sides. This vulnerability is the cave they fear to enter, but it holds the treasure they seek. Deep down, they DO want to be seen and accepted as they are. But they most likely won't get that love from another person until they learn to love themselves unconditionally, first. They have to stop trying to run away and hide from themselves (or their father).
📌 Their father, and specifically his relationship to his Shadow, and the darker aspects of life, played a big role in the formation of their personality, and how they view themselves.
There are three scenarios here - 1) he was either a PUNISHER of the shadows (could've literally worked as a policeman, for example); he was an EXPLORER (psychologist, investigator) or he was a HEALER - occultist, energy worker, etc.
These are three levels of consciousness. If he punished the shadows - his and the world's - the more shame and guilt he could've projected onto his child(ren). These people might feel as if he's always monitoring their steps, and they can't hide anything from him - especially their mistakes or anything "taboo". If they were heavily judged or punished, they will grow up feeling guilty and ashamed of a very big part of what makes them human.
This affects how they view themselves - they can either see themselves as a Divine Child, with both the Yin and Yang, light and dark within or as a Beast, some sort of a Devil responsible for all the evil in the world.
They should know that whatever it was, it had nothing to do with them and EVERYTHING to do with their father's own degree of self-acceptance and wholeness.
Nonetheless, their relationship with him is/was intense, and there might've been a lot of power struggles involved.
📌These people are MAGNETIC in a way people can't explain. Even if they aren't traditionally "beautiful" or "attractive", they just draw others in. Powerful presence and aura.
📌 It might take them some time to realize the power hidden in their shadows. They are destined to become Alchemists, but how easily or quickly this will happen depends on their free will and desire to separate themselves from their father's projections/expectations.
The task here is to become SELF-AWARE. They can use a myriad of tools - therapy, meditation, yoga, energy healing, somatic work, OR ART to channel their Shadow and integrate it into their consciousness.
📌 During their lives, they are often called to the gates of the Underworld. They learn how to enter it fearlessly, and how to listen to the voice within. This process of illumination (Sun) will help them transform their subconscious mind (Pluto), and when they emerge from this metaphorical Underworld, their work and expression in the world will have a different quality, richness, and potency to it. This is how they step into their power and leadership - by making peace with the demons of the past.
📌 Introverted or extroverted? Both. It mostly depends on the specific aspect, but also on other placements. We know that Mars is Pluto's lower octave. So, in their early life, some of them might be quite extroverted, focused on worldly ambitions, and even be less selective about the people they let in their close circle. As they age though, their focus turns inwards. They can progressively become more introverted, self-reflective, and their goals/values can dramatically shift. As their vibration goes up, they go from being the Warrior to being The Wizard.
📌 If they don’t work to reclaim their power and express themselves truthfully and unapologetically in the world, they can become jealous and bitter. They can lurk behind the scenes of life, and try to sabotage those who do what they want to do, or they might try to destroy themselves. Depression is possible, as well as suicide attempts and risky behavior.
Pluto wants them to kill something about themselves, which is most likely their cowardice/pride/vanity/past conditioning. But not their physical selves. It's never about the physical, although it can feel this way. These people will either feed the Collective Shadow or help heal it. When they do the latter, they become potent forces of transformation for other people, as well.
📌 Life wants them to be humbler. They can carry a lot of pride and might try to appear as perfect and "spotless" as possible. They might be afraid of their reputation being destroyed or bruised in some way.
📌They are on a Quest for Love. When they learn how to forgive themselves and others, their HEARTS will open, and the light of the Sun will shine through. They can become truly unconditionally loving, and they have to start with themselves, first.
📌 Pluto is connected to our Divine Feminine energy (although it's not a feminine planet) a.k.a Kundalini. So, these people need to learn how to SURRENDER to the Divine. This is a major lesson, so for a good portion of their life, they might feel tempted to gain power through CONTROL and domination, but this will only worsen their karma.
As they will understand, the only real power is the power of Truth and Unconditional Love.
- Foxbörn

for a character with a reputation of being extremely rational and logical, many of ludger's actions are actually quite emotionally motivated. even when he stays oblivious to his true emotions, there are still many instances where we can see how they unknowingly manifest in his actions and subtly influence his biases. i think ludger's second most toxic trait is that he tends to subconsciously cook up a seemly logical reason to spontaneously cover up his emotional ass because he cannot admit to himself that he feels emotions intensely.
exhibit A: his vengeance for arte's death required him to admit that he had a strong attachment to the kid, so he stated that eliminating the evil and offering solace to the victims were the actual reasons. counter: there were many better ways to deal with delica's incidents if his goal was simply enacting justice. even hans realised that this was a weak excuse to conceal his regrets.
exhibit B: his mercy towards aiden required him to admit his unwillingness to eliminate him, so he covered it up by reasoning that it would be too risky to take a student's life. counter: we know very well that he's fully capable of eliminating someone without leaving a trace if he puts his mind to the task.
exhibit C: his sparing casey's life twice required him to admit his disinclination to kill her, so instead, he reasoned that she was more useful alive and that her excessive pride wouldn't let her easily expose him to the public anyway. counter: strategically speaking, turning her against blackdawn was an obvious blunder. he didn't even need her to deal with them. plus, somehow he conveniently forgot at the moment that casey could still have told her best friend, terinna, about his identity regardless of the matter of pride and subjected him to even worse danger.
exhibit D: his taking owens under his wings and founding u.n. owen required him to admit his emotional bonds to them, so he claimed that he needed a strong fortress for his goals and his own protection, especially against the bretus. counter: considering his op-ness, he had never really needed protection. he also mainly tasked owens with leg work while dealing with most of the dangers by himself. he even ended up disbanding them to confront bretus on his own and telling them to prioritize their lives over his goals.
at first glance, his reasoning might seem sound and logical, but if we look at them for more than ten seconds, they are actually quite flimsy and contradictory. this is not to say he's inherently an idiot or a terrible liar. ludger's capability of reasoning is proven comparable to that of casey. he is also an excellent liar when it comes to deliberately lying to someone. but how does one reason or lie about feelings that they themselves are not even aware of?
my hypothesis:
when his suppressed emotions subconsciously influence his biases and/or manifest into his actions, ludger needs to convince himself that he is still being logical, and thus, without even realising it, he tries to rationalize them and grab onto whatever reason that momentarily sounds in his mind: why was he so dedicated to teaching his students? he couldn't get caught half-assing his job, and he wanted to earn the trust of the president. why did he save esmeralda? quasimodo annoyed him, so he had to step in. why did he delay the first princess' orders and prioritize the students' safety during the attacks on the capital? it was the princess' trusted blade himself who suggested saving the students, and not him. why did he accept casey's companionship during his moriarty's era? it was an act, and he was simply getting into his character.
whether ludger wants to admit it or not, he has always been a person moving according to his emotions. and the actual reason why we see so many inconsistencies and hypocrisies in his actions when aligning all of them together with his own logic is that his reasonings are only flimsy excuses that his subconsciousness makes up on the fly to rationalize away his repressed emotions, i.e. his strong attachments to this world.

People talk about a lack of media literacy in terms of Hazbin hotel a lot on tiktok. It’s deranged. They’ll say that thinking Alastor saying “Unclip my wings” would imply he’s secretly an angel is an example of this.
Except that’s the opposite of low media literacy. The fact that this incredibly obscure turn of phrase referencing wings is used in this pivotal moment by a character whose background and motives are a mystery for the audience to solve, in a show where angels exist… that seems like it’s begging to be read into.
Missing it entirely and not questioning what that might mean just because it’s a phrase that literally exists in real life is what low media literacy is. Yeah it’s just a common phrase but WHY is it being used here? Why is this demon trapped in hell talking about his metaphorical wings.
Why does Quasimodo sing of heaven while Frollo sings of hell? Why does Frollo speak of smiting the wicked and plunging them into a fiery pit right before falling into a fire? Thinking about why these things are being done by the writers is important to media literacy.
I don’t think Alastor is an angel. It doesn’t fit the plot or world building or his character, at least as we know it currently. But I don’t think people who think he might be are misunderstanding storytelling. They just have a different perspective. Y’all need to learn what low media literacy actually is.

Hi sweetie!! you're very good, I really like Billy fics, would you like to do one where Billy introduces his (still unofficial) girlfriend during a family dinner?
I would love it, hope you have a great day 🫶
luv u
Billy Thunderman X Reader
Tumblr media
“What Are We?”
summery- Billy I introduces you, his unofficial girlfriend, to his family.
Authors note: Hey Anon! Thanks for the request. I apologize that this is kinda short and maybe not the best. I couldn’t really think of ideas but I hope you enjoy this. Feel free to provide feedback and advice.
Word count- 833
Warnings- none.
You were with Billy in his room studying for upcoming exams. It was more procrastination than studying but…you know. When you arrived there no one was home yet. It was just you and Billy. Nora went to hang out with some friends and everybody else was somewhere out. Nora came home at some point coming into the room to hang out with yall for a few minutes, then a few hours later you heard the door open and a middle aged woman speak, “Kids! We’re home.” “OKAY!” Billy and Nora yelled down. You and Billy continued to study, mess around, play fight, maybe kiss a few times. Who knows?-
Around 5:30pm another yell came from the middle aged woman. “Dinner is ready!” You hear a bunch of foot steps running down stairs. You huff, “Well, I guess I’ll take my leave now then.” You start collecting your things and Billy stops you, “Why? You don’t want to stay for dinner?” “Well I mean, there probably isn’t an-“ he cuts you off “Nonsense, stay and eat. I know how much you like food.” “I wasn’t really invite-“ “You’re invited! Plus I’m sure my family would love to meet you.” “Are you sure?” “Totally. Come on!” He grabs your hand and starts running down stairs with you(not with his powers)
You both make it down stairs to the kitchen and see his whole family already there. They all turn and look at you. You stand there awkwardly Quasimodo-ing into your self. “Um Billy who’s that?” The woman who you presume to be his mother asks. “Huh? Oh! This is ‘reader’.” “‘Reader’ this is my mom,” his mother shakes your hand “I’m Barb. Nice to meet you.” You nod and speak shyly, “nice to meet you.” “This is my dad,” His father gives you a firm hand shake, “Hank.” “My older brother Max and my sister Phoebe, they’re the twins.” “Hello” Phoebe say pleasantly while Max just gives you a head nod and a “sup” “and you already know Nora, and my little sister Chloe.” “Hi everyone nice to meet you” “When did you get here?” “Earlier. We were studying.” You say sheepishly. You look at Billy with an awkward face and smile. He just smiles back nodding with a bright grin. “So- Are you two dating?” The question catches you off guard, “What?” Your voice a bit high pitched “No- we-we’re not-“ You stumble over your words trying to explain but Hank saves you. He clears his throat “let’s eat lasagna.” “Yes let’s”
You all laugh and communicate at the table you. “So how long have you two been friends?” Phoebe asks you. “Uhh like since the beginning of the school year.” She nods. Slowly as time went on the conversation got less awkward and you actually started having a good time. You ate 3 plates of lasagna and later had dessert. Eventually it was time for you to go home. All the Thundermans wished you farewell. Barb liked you so much she insisted that you come over again for dinner soon. You’re about to open the door to leave, your hand hovering over the door knob but you don’t open it you swiftly run back over to Billy give him a kiss on the cheek “Bye sweetness I love you!” You cheerfully state then run back out the door. Billy is standing there smiling “Bye I love you!” His family stares at him shocked. Max leans to Phoebe, “HAH! I told you they were dating! 20 bucks.” Billy notices his family’s mouths agape. “She does that sometimes.” He says shrugging with a soft blush. “So are you two da-“ You come running back in this time soaking wet and a bit out of breath. They all stare at you. “It is pouring out there.” You’re dripping water. “Are you alright?” Billy approaches taking your freezing hands. Then thunder-monitor comes on. “Warning, tornado watch.” “Well you can’t go back out there” Barb states with concern. Barb continues, “Why don’t you stay here for the night honey?” “Oh I can’t do that to yall Mrs. Thunderman.” “No really it isn’t safe. Please stay till It clears up.” A loud thunder and lightning strike. “Yeah- okay. I’ll stay.” “Here come on. Come to my room.” Billy takes you by the hand and leads you up to his room. “Thank you Thundermans.”
In Billy’s room he gives you a towel, his shirt and some pant/shorts. (It’s your choice if you decide to wear the bottoms.) After you’re dried off and changed you and Billy cuddle up in his bed. You start whining, “My belly hurts!” “You ate a lot.” “It was delicious.” He holds you as he laughs and tucks your hair behind your ear. A movie is playing on his tv and you feel so comfortable in his arms but then your mind starts wondering with a question.
“Billy what are we?” …

For your consideration: deaf Quasimodo and (selectively) mute Claudine bonding with/over sign language. Quasimodo starts signing and Claudine shyly signs something back and it’s just. Instant connection on that front.
The isle developed it’s own sign language from a combination of other sign languages of the residents (just like how I imagine they’d form a pidgin to speak in) so it’s not a 1-on-1 match of signs at all, but they try really hard to work it out and they generally get the basic gists, and both try to also learn some of the other’s signs.

on the kick of movies, i ALSO forgot how good Hunchback of Notre Dame is (analysis ahead btw)
yes, it's a Disney movie (that's why we pirate it lads) so it won't have the same conformation to the novel that another corporation MIGHT have done (still highly doubtful) but it's still so good and holds up so well???
I prefer the musical's nuance when it comes to Frollo, but in the Disney movie he doesn't really need a reason to be "evil" other than just power-hungriness, racism and being a predator. I find it incredibly interesting how they divided the two aspects of his character into Frollo (Judge Version) and the Archdeacon, because when you know the background of his character you understand that complexity even when it's absent from the movie. Also I'm a SLUT for "Hellfire," because not only is the animation sequence DELICIOUS ASF, and the music and lyrics ASTOUNDING, but the overlaying Latin that just contradicts his convictions is SO good, as well as the predatory ideas he's grappling with, and his justification of them through religion and how he's "purer than the common, vulgar, weak, licentious," people of Paris. Even in the cut-and-dry Disney version, he's still a fairly layered character.
I also find it refreshing that Quasimodo's jealousy of Phoebus doesn't cause him to try and tear him down or hurt him; no, he doesn't love Phoebus, especially at first when he thinks he's chasing Esmeralda to hurt or arrest her, but he holds no grudge against him because it's unnecessary. I can't tell if I just got used to other bad movie jealousy plotlines, but it's nice to see that Quasimodo isn't petty as hell just because he's jealous of Phoebus.
Speaking of Phoebus, what a chad
Of course, the score for the movie is brilliant (excluding a guy like you, I'm sorry but i fucking hate it) and the repeating themes of different characters make it feel more like a live theater musical than some of Disney's other musical works. Frollo's "Kyrie Eleison," theme (which is so fucking funny to me by the way, having the Latin/Greek phrase of "Lord have mercy," be Frollo's theme, who doesn't have mercy whatsoever and really just reflects his last moments) is SO so scrummy, I eat that shit up every damn time.
The animation sequences are fairly good throughout the movie, but I find them ESPECIALLY amazing for particular songs like "Hellfire," "Out There," "And He Shall Smite the Wicked (Score)," and "Sanctuary (Score)." The movements are VERY smooth and flow well, and the usage of color in "God Help the Outcasts," is STUNNING.
All in all, I still really enjoy this movie after a long time of not seeing it, and just really enjoy the themes and general collective story of the Hunchback of Notre Dame

DuPont School for Monstrous Youths- Words (and Gestures) to Avoid
There are certain terms that certain species of monster take offense to, and ones that are sensitive and for particular use. I’ll also include some actions that are offensive. Here’s a list that should be helpful! @artzychic27 @imsparky2002
Voodoo dolls generally don’t respond well to being called ‘toys’ or ‘stuffies’. It makes them feel like they’re being treated as less than people.
“Boo!” is a polite greeting only when exchanged between all the different species of ghosts. Coming from other monsters, it’s…cringe.
Flower meanings take a great deal of importance to plant monsters, and certain ones should only be used as a nickname in certain circumstances. For example, ‘daisy’ is a term usually reserved for parent to child, and calling someone ‘my rose’ , the flower of love, should only be used by romantic partners.
It’s also disrespectful to call them ‘weeds’, not because it’s belittling, but because it’s dismissive of weeds, which are plants too.
Any name that implicates a zombie is dumb or slow-witted should be avoided. That’s a derogatory and untrue stereotype.
Yeti is the proper name for the species, ‘Abominable’ is a very hurtful term. The same goes for ‘Bigfoot’ with Sasquatches, it’s a nasty nickname humans gave them.
Werewolves may act like big dogs but that doesn’t make it okay to call them ‘mutt’, ‘mongrel’, ‘fleabag’, etc.
Never. Ever. EVER. Refer to any werebeast as a ‘furry’ if you value your life.
Insectoid and arachnid monsters take great issue with being called ‘pests’.
Most demons at the school don’t like being referred to as ‘hellspawn’, it’s a reminder of the life they managed to escape.
“Fishface” should generally be avoided with any monster species native to the water. Also, NEVER offer them seafood.
Derogatory names based on a vampire’s diet such as ‘leech’ or ‘bloodsucker’ are discouraged.
Shrek references of any sort should be avoided with ogres. It’s just old and annoying at this point.
Faeries are hot-blooded so it’s best to avoid calling them things like ‘pixie’ or especially ‘Tinker Bell’. (They don’t particularly have anything against her, it’s just really irritating to lump all fairies under one name.)
Never ask a gargoyle “How’s Quasimodo?”. That movie had inaccurate and stereotypical depictions of gargoyles.
Don’t ask an eastern dragon about wings and breathing fire. It’s culturally insensitive.
Requesting a phantom to sing an opera piece isn’t a funny joke, it’s rude and ignorant.
Stereotypical witch cackles are offensive to actual witches, who aren’t evil.
If you are not someone a werewolf or werecat knows and trusts, DON’T try to pet them!
It’s incredibly disrespectful to act as if you can’t see a ghost when they’re in the room with you.
It’s also unacceptable to imply that robots are heartless and have no emotions. They care like anyone else.
Minotaurs become very angry when you try to provoke them as a matador would, and they WILL charge at you.
Don’t stick your hand into a skeleton. Their bodies and personal space are as important as anyone else’s.
Don’t ask a centaur for a ride, wait until it’s offered.
Be VERY mindful when speaking to an extraterrestrial. You never know what might be offensive.

I'm so excited for the new event omg i can't wait to see the story! Speaking about the new event, i saw a lot of twitter threads with users already criticizing Rollo because he's based from Frollo since he's 'pure evil' even though twst is based from villains, so i was wondering what's your opinion about this? aaa sorry if this seems too sudden or anything Raven, but i'm just really curious and confused because of the immediate dislike after the abema stream

***CONTENT WARNING: I will be going into detail about the Hunchback of Notre Dame (both the original novel and the Disney animated adaptation of it). In order to have this discussion, I will be touching on sensitive subject matter such as religion, rape, genocide, war, ableism, abduction, murder, lust, and racism (more specifically, stereotypes of the Roma/Romani culture).
Please note that although I have done my best to educate myself on topics brought up in this post, I am not a historian or Roma/Romani myself. I am speaking from the perspective of a layman.
My intention in making this response is not to cause controversy, but rather to explain what is going on and, hopefully, educate others on the origins of Hunchback. ***

The original Hunchback of Notre Dame is a French Gothic novel by Victor Hugo, published in 1831. Hugo lived during a period of great change, and he had written Hunchback of Notre Dame with the intent to bring awareness to the importance of Gothic architecture. During his time, many Gothic structures were being torn down and replaced or neglected rather than preserved. And, indeed, this is reflected in the writing. There are several expansive and lengthy passages that describe the setting and its buildings. Hugo’s novel turned the Notre-Dame de Paris into a national icon and renewed interest in the restoration of Gothic art, making Hunchback an iconic piece of French historical fiction.

There are several expansive and lengthy passages that describe the setting and its buildings. Hugo’s novel turned the Notre-Dame de Paris became a national icon and renewed interest in the restoration of Gothic art, making Hunchback an iconic piece of historical fiction.
Claude Frollo, the Archdeacon of Notre Dame, serves as the story’s main antagonist. He is first introduced to us as a pious and kind man, who raised his own younger brother, Jehan, after they were both orphaned. Frollo would also save the abandoned baby Quasimodo out of genuine mercy. Throughout the story, Frollo slowly becomes disillusioned and engages in several vices in pursuit of his own goals (intense lust, attempted rape, attempted abduction, attempted murder, etc.). Frollo becomes obsessed with a French Romani woman, Esmeralda, and when she rejects his advances, Frollo orders Quasimodo to kidnap her. Frollo also later attempts to rape Esmeralda and frames her for stabbing another character, promising to help her escape from the gallows if she reciprocates his feelings. Hugo’s Frollo is a villain with nuance, depicted as a caring and holy man that spiraled downward into madness due to his own lust and disappointment in his brother (who succumbed to sin).
Disney produced its own interpretation of Hugo’s novel in the 1996 animated film of the same name. The Disney version still contains many of the dark themes explored in Hunchback, albeit toned down from the original and with a lot of alterations. Frollo maintains his status as the main antagonist and still engages in many of the same behaviors as his novel counterpart. However, Disney took the liberty of eliminating many of the minor characters from the book and instead giving their traits and actions to Frollo. This can, quite understandably, alter public perception of the character.
Disney’s Frollo is a public official (a judge) who manipulates Quasimodo and insults him for his disabilities, convincing the hunchback that he is totally unworthy of love. In fact, this Frollo was initially disgusted with baby Quasimodo and tried to kill him, only changing his mind when reminded of the many statues and/or higher beings watching him and judging his sins. Animated Frollo also displays overtly racist views regarding the Romani people, referring to them as being beneath him, implying he thinks of them of ants/insects, claiming that they aren’t capable of “real love”, accusing them of witchcraft and sorcery, and expressing a desire to eliminate them.
Note that, in the book, prejudice towards the Romani people is indeed a part of the setting, though not exclusively, nor explicitly, the sentiments of Frollo. The writing itself indirectly perpetuates Roma stereotypes; for example, Esmeralda in the novel is not Romani at all but a white baby kidnapped by Romani people. Many characters in the world of Hunchback also hold racist beliefs. Sister Gudule believes that the Romanj cannibalized her child. and it is another judge (NOT Frollo) that accuses Esmeralda of witchcraft. Interestingly, the novel version of Frollo was also accused of sorcery by the locals.
Something else to be cognizant of is that Disney’s Hunchback came out during the company’s Renaissance period. During this time, many of their villains were NOT made to be sympathetic (as modern Disney villains are); they’re usually very clearly defined as evil regardless of the source material for their movies.
And then we come to 2022, in which Disney’s hit mobile gacha game, Twisted Wonderland, has recently introduced a character, Rollo Flamm, inspired by Frollo (of the Disney movie).
***NOTE: To avoid confusion, when I speak of “Frollo” moving forward, I mean the Disney version, NOT the original Frollo from the novel (unless explicitly stated).***
The Controversy
While it is true that Hunchback is a work of historical fiction, the ideas it contains are reflective of those in the real world. Racism is still very much a thing, and prejudice such as the sentiments that the characters (in the novel) and Frollo (in the Disney movie) express (thinking the Romani are untrustworthy thieves, blaming them for his own desires, saying that they tempt people to sin, etc) persists to this day. For this reason, some people may be uncomfortable with and alarmed by Twisted Wonderland “glamorizing” Frollo and his views by making him appear more palatable as a cute anime boy, Rollo.
I believe (as my asker has said) that the controversy originated on Twitter via threads made by Romani TWST fans worried that others are now “simping” for Rollo. Again, he is a character twisted from Disney’s Frollo, a man who is very clearly racist, self-serving, and a villain--and with the nature of Twisted Wonderland being to deconstruct our understanding of villains, it comes with the fear that Rollo’s characterization may garner him, and thus Frollo, sympathy.
Some acknowledge that they know that Rollo is not a 1:1 or a copy paste of Frollo, but are still concerned about how Rollo will be portrayed due to his inspiration’s racist origins. After all, Disney, one of the big names attached to Twisted Wonderland, does NOT have the best track record when it comes to accurately representing minorities (especially for their older films).
This last point is just speculation on my part, but I think that part of the issue is that, unlike the Great Seven, Frollo being venerated in Twisted Wonderland’s revisionist history feels uncomfortably “real”. The Great Seven are all villains too, but they also all have some kind of fantastical quality or magic to them (like Scar being a talking lion or Ursula being an octopus mermaid). This puts a degree of fantasy and separation between THOSE villains and us in reality. Meanwhile, there is nothing magical about Frollo. He’s visceral and grounded and represents hatred that is out there in the real world, as well as how some racists are seen as public figures of great importance.
The latest on this is a Kotaku article that dropped with (as per usual) the very clickbaity title “The Disney Villains Game Is Having A Horny Racism Controversy” to get attention with the topic is still hot on Twitter. (EDIT: You’ll need to Google the article yourself to find it; Kotaku has locked the link so that if I try to share it, it will redirect you to an entirely different article.) This has only further fanned the flames, as fans on one side cry out against Kotaku and fans on the other side feel validated by the article.

The “Verdict”?
Firstly, it’s important that we listen to the people crying out about this situation, especially if they are Romani themselves. They are the ones who are hurt when media misrepresents them, just as it would be the case for the Chinese if TWST dropped a twisted Mulan, for Native Americans if TWST dropped a twisted Pocahontas, etc. If Romani people are saying they are not comfortable with Rollo, the feeling is warranted and they have a right to speak out about it.
At the same time, I think that we don’t have enough information about Rollo himself to come to a definitive conclusion about HIS character and personal beliefs. It’s still way too early into the masquerade event for anyone to have a read on him, and a lot of the current speculation is based on information about Frollo, not a ton about Rollo. I have yet to play the event myself, but the only thing I’ve seen which may hint at Rollo being iffy is him grimacing and using a handkerchief to cover his mouth and nose around Malleus. People have pointed out that Rollo may be insinuating that he thinks Malleus smells bad (implying that he is racist towards fae), or that this act mimics Frollo creepily sniffing the handkerchief of a Romani woman, Esmeralda, in the movie (whom he would later witch hunt). Even so, this action hasn’t been fully explained yet. I’ve also seen that Rollo covers his mouth and nose in many different scenarios, not strictly about Malleus. For example, when Rollo remarks that NRC as a whole is a boisterous bunch, when he remarks on his classmates not listening to him, etc. Rollo also does not cover his nose and mouth during every single instance when he interacts with or speaks to Malleus; the handkerchief thing may very well just be something Rollo does to express or to hide distress. So far, Rollo hasn’t done anything too overtly egregious to condemn him for.
In short, it’s unclear how much of Rollo borrows from his inspiration, Frollo. Not even our main boys at NRC are entirely the same as their inspirations, otherwise you’d have Leona (who has a backstory closest to his Disney counterpart) committing fratricide. It would be premature to pass judgment on Rollo now when we know so little about him and instead judge him based on only what we know of Frollo, but I’d understand it if people still had wary skepticism at this point (because I certainly do).
On Literary Devices & Personal Thoughts
I’m honestly shocked that TWST made a twisted Frollo at all considering how dark the original material and character is. But personally? I’m less concerned that the character exists at all and more concerned about how the character will be handled. I think that Rollo poses a lot of questions for the event’s story, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out--but I’m also a little on edge, because while TWST has been pretty good at not completely redeeming the characters and forcing them to grow into their own person(s), but that doesn’t mean they won’t mess up moving forward. There’s also the possibility that fan content may overstep boundaries, because fans can mess up too.
On that note, I actually think it would be an interesting conflict if Rollo really did discriminate against fae. Leaving this trait out, even if it is a negative one, would sanitize his character and could make it come off like TWST is straight up ignoring the racist roots from which his inspiration comes or intentionally trying to sweep it under the rug to make Rollo more likable. But carrying over the unsavory traits to Rollo would make him a mirror to Sebek, a character notorious for discriminating against non-fae. It would give Twisted Wonderland a chance to address the issue of racism, which wouldn’t seem that out of place given that the main story has covered other dark subjects, and that we have been given hints of a human-fairy war in Twisted Wonderland’s history. It would be a case of art imitating life, but using its advantage of being fiction to safely discuss, explore, and send a message that racism is BAD and the issue is complicated. (Then again, TWST events are never that serious, which is why I’m concerned about how the event story will treat Rollo’s character.) That said, I’m going to reserve my final judgment until the full event is out.
As I’ve said in my Sebek analysis, I typically don’t take issue with “problematic” things like racism being used as literary devices, as their inclusion doesn’t automatically equate to support of it. Plenty of other works do this, such as Animal Farm utilizing animals as an allegory for overthrowing a dictator while simultaneously commentating on and condemning totalitarianism (a staple in the dystopia genre). One could argue that Lord Farquaad in Shrek is also hateful towards others (fairy tale creatures)—and the discriminatory Farquaad is clearly painted as despicable. On the flip side, I understand that problematic content can also be manipulated to send negative messages. This is true of wartime propaganda which aims to alienate the masses from other races. This is not the fault of the content itself for existing, but of the ones controlling how the content is used.
It’s not the presence of problematic content that is the issue, it’s how that content is presented in works. We can recognize that X is racist while also realizing that a work can exist to criticize, comment on, and critique racism in the real world. For example, Sebek is racist to humans, but his racism is never treated like a positive thing by his peers. Others tell him off or order him to apologize for being rude, or even make fun of him for his beliefs and racist behavior. For an even broader example, look at us. We are literally a fandom that enjoys characters based on bad guys, but we can still love them while not approving of the terrible things they do and say. Rather than assume something is bad from the get-go, it would be wiser to judge works on a case-by-case basis and to examine the “problematic” content in the context in which it is presented before deciding for yourself what you believe in.
The whole basis of TWST is that its world is one where villains are revered in-universe, but we as the players are cognizant that the Great Seven (and Frollo by extension) are BAD PEOPLE. This parsing and differentiation is crucial. Very few of us go into TWST thinking “these people are good and they are in the right”, we go in knowing that we aren’t meant to idolize them, and the twisted characters are entirely new characters from the ones we saw in Disney movies. They are not one and the same as the Disney villains, so if someone chooses to treat them as separate from their inspiration, that’s their prerogative—just remember to respect those that do take offense to the character as well.
What’s Next?
The devs have made a conscious decision to include a specifically Frollo inspired character into this event, so I hope that he MUST play some kind of role that no one else can replace and not just because “oh, well it fits the aesthetic” (which would be a BIG yikes). I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Rollo’s inclusion will actually be for something meaningful…! But I guess we’ll have to see what comes out of Glorious Masquerade and pray that, whatever does come our way, it doesn’t perpetuate stereotypes and hatred of the Romani people. TWST’s events have never taken themselves too seriously (just take a look at the dramatic buildup but campy ending of Endless Halloween Night), but I feel like this is an instance in which they really should 💦
My final words would be to please treat this situation and the new character with sensitivity and an awareness of the history behind his inspiration. Thank you, and do remember to be kind to one another!
