Queen Louise of Sweden as a young princess by Philipp Alexius de Laszlo (oil on canvas, 1907)
Queen Louise, formerly Lady Louise Mountbatten, was born as Princess Louise Alexandra Marie Irene of Battenberg in Germany in 1889, but grew up in England.
During the First World War, she volunteered with the Red Cross and served as a nurse from March 1915 to July 1917. Queen Louise took an active interest in nurses' working conditions. During the Winter War, she opened a children's home for Finnish war orphans at Ulriksdal Palace. She also participated actively at Sophiahemmet's meetings.
In 1923, she married Crown Prince Gustaf (VI) Adolf.
Louise has been described as a staunch democrat and a practical person who disliked the attention she received as queen.

Alexander I.: Okay, but wouldn’t it be better to keep humans as pets if you were a vampire? Constant blood supply, y’know?
Frederick William III.: What if the humans conspire against you and attempt to kill you?
Francis II.: Not to mention that vampires don’t have impulse control.
Louise: Don't they have irresistible charm though? Wouldn't that negate any kind of revolting since the vampires can just magically seduce the humans?
Bernadotte, looking at the clock in disbelief: Every night. Every fucking night.

My dehut there was easy. I was received by King Frederick Wilham m,, and by the Queen as an old friend. The strict etiquette, by which the diplomatic corps was kept at the greatest possible distance from the Prussian court, was observed with regard to m only on those occasions when an exception made in m favour might have had the appearance of referring to my public position, and would therefore have mortified the whole diplomatic body. Eleven years had passed since I had seen the Queen ; I found her surrounded' with a true halo of beauty and dignity.
Queen Louisa was endowed with the rarest quahties. She did not excel in what is commonly called esprit, but she possessed a refined tact and strength of mind, for the exercise of which in a few years she had only too many opportunities. It would be difficult to describe the dignity and grace of her bearing, or the impression of sweetness and tenderness her manners made - Prince Metternich.
