I feel like this needs to be said more than it is.
Margaery Tyrell did not actually care about the poor people!!
She put on a show, and pretended to care about them, but it was all just so she could gain more support and more power. It's good that the poor people got some help, but it's shitty that her intentions were not pure.
Her entire arc was about manipulating her way to power. Her and her family tried to take over the throne. It's their whole storyline. She was a master manipulator. She didn't actually give a damn about those people. She manipulated Sansa, Joffrey, Tommen, The High Sparrow, and basically everyone else that she spoke to.
I don't understand how nobody can see this. 🤷🏻♀️

[THERE WAS NO BETTER STORY THAN HIS OWN]
After-all had she not heard it?
He was the last king standing. The war of the five kings they had called it and all expected him to loss his throne and his head. Of course he proved them wrong, each and every single one of them. As each king found themselves under six feet of earth, his power continued to grow until the point that the war had been soundly won by his forces and all seven kingdoms acknowledged him as there king. It was a sound victory, one that he was quick to use. There was no one left to stand in his way. There was no one left to cause any harm to him. His reign was secured and now it was time to rule. Everyone within these kingdoms was his to do with as he pleased. There was no one else who could threaten him, no one else who could stand up to him, no one else who could stop him.
“I would have liked some things to be a little different.” The king uttered, a small smirk twisting on his face. “There is still time to have Sansa’s head added to my collection.”
There was a sick chuckle that escaped him. He had laid waste to the House Stark over the years, slaughtering there men, having there family members murdered. Utterly destroying the house until only Sansa remained and even then that was not enough for him. He had wanted to serve her brothers head to her on the day of his wedding, but perhaps he could find entertainment in taking her own head after some time, afterall - who was honestly going to stop him now, there was no one left to stand in his way, not even his own grandfather could do anything to him now.
˜”*°•. Behind every genial façade, hid ugliness, jealousy, even hatred. Behind every kind smile, behind every beauty, behind every impeccability. Monsters lurking in every corner of every kingdom; outside and inside prepossessing castles, wearing crowns or serving the royals, giving orders or acting on behests. And so they could choose, play roles; connive at the injustice despite the inevitable commotion or offer the most conciliatory of gestures and keep everyone calm, satisfied, in the place where they belonged.
❝ Of course, my grace. ❞ Words of agreement accompanied by a smile. Sansa’s head, a punishment, he’d been long craving for, she was aware. They were achieving something great, though. People adored them, believed in them. And it was stupendous. Astounding. From the throne finally sourcing something more than just fear and anger. People trusted them, and t͎r͎u͎s͎t͎ ͎ ͎w͎a͎s͎ ͎a͎ ͎ ͎w͎e͎a͎p͎o͎n͎. A wonderful weapon, but also the sweetest of privileges. For trust could blur one’s mind, turn reality implausible. Engulf every doubt and transform it into a beautiful dream. ❝ However, death is mercy, my king. Does she deserve mercy ? ❞ She reached for his hands -- softly, slowly // for the king was to always decide whether intimacy was desired or not --. He wished for death, yet death was irrevocable. A move of power indeed, yet a move of flamboyancy and recklessness too. Dangerous.

AN OLD MEME BUT I KEPT THIS ONE FOR ✨REASONS✨ | @oraiososta
❝ i can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. ❞ // aegon
The prince had invited her on yet another long, ambling walk through the castle gardens. They were, as ever, bright and beautiful but the repetition had begun to wear on Margaery. She had memorized every path, every dead end, and had even begun to recognize hedges and flower bushes by the number of steps from the keep it took to reach them. Her ladies and septa trailed after them as always--often making her feel like a mother duck wanting to escape her loud and frivolous little ducklings--but kept enough distance to allow them the pretense of privacy.
Their conversations remained mostly courteous and rarely strayed from the sort of topics her septa would approve of: the upcoming wedding, how she was liking the city, little anecdotes from her childhood. She didn’t always mind it, truly, and understood that--though they were to wed in less than a fortnight--every moment of the courtship should be handled with care. That aside, the simple subject matter allowed her mind to wander through memories of more lively conversation, of raspberry tarts and ringing laughter. Of stolen looks from eyes so alike and yet unlike the prince’s.
She’s broken form her usual reverie when Aegon’s hand--usually clasped behind his back as they walked--reached for hers and led her to a stone bench beneath a large, sprawling tree. It was a deviation from their usual routine and she found herself at attention, intrigued. Her ladies, once caught up to them, had enough tact to leave them be and make for a set of tables across the way. Margaery sat as he bid her, folding her hands in her lap and looking up at him expectantly. He starts off as expected--praising her beauty and grace and gentle nature--but then something in his face changes, softens, and she feels as though she is looking at a different man entirely. There is a hint of hesitation in his expression and then in his voice as he says those words so softly and so earnestly. It is the sort of thing any maid would dream of--a true confession of love and affection--but all Margaery feels is guilt.
All this time with the prince--her future husband--had been spent thinking of and pining for Rhaenys: her smile, the strong scent of her perfume, the way those elegant hands felt upon her thighs. Most days, she could pass off the flush in her face as a sweet, demure response to Aegon’s compliments but now? For the first time, she truly felt the shame of it and understood it as the betrayal it was. He offers me his heart, she thinks. And what of mine?
Margaery pulls her hand from his and--before confusion or hurt can cross his features--reaches up to gently press the same palm against his cheek. It is a bold gesture--even this far along in their courtship--especially since she was the one to initiate it and not the prince himself. In his stunned silence, she gazes into that heartbreakingly-familiar face and forces herself to forget.
Forget the long dark hair, ever-smiling lips, and the purple eyes just a few shades too dark. Forget soft skin and gentle fingers and ringing laughter so sweet as to rival a bard’s song. Feature by feature, she lets it all fade until all she sees in that face is the prince himself. Even the princess’ name is lost to her, if only for a moment. It’s easier this way, to return Aegon’s gentle expression and allow all her love to belong to him.
“Nor can I,” she says at last, finding that she means it. And how not, when he looks at her so sweetly and her heart swells with barely-contained emotion. After all, there is no one else, only Aegon. “We’ve not too much longer now. Though I sometimes wish we could skip all the fanfare and just be, it will all be worth it to call myself your wife and to share my love with you forever more.”
Margaery Tyrell is such a fucking joke. She literally manipulated her way into the beds of three kings. She puts on a show in front of the common people, pretending to care about them, just to get more power. She tried to take over the Iron Throne. Her whole story is about her trying to conquer Westeros, by manipulating anyone she can to get on top. Its the whole reason Olenna killed Joffrey. Tommen was more easily manipulated. And once she got Tommen, she tried to convince him to have his mother leave the city and go back to Casterly Rock, because Cersei is the only person who saw straight through her. She couldn't have Cersei at Tommen's side, because then she couldn't control him. She couldn't be the ultimate power while Cersei was still there. So she tried to get rid of her.
But to the fandom, Cersei is the "evil bitch" because she tried to fight back and protect her son. Margaery is the "good queen" that everyone loves, even though she is essentially the woman version of Littlefinger. Lmao this shit is so ass backwards.

F*ck, Marry, Kill (Part 4)
Margaery Tyrell, House Baratheon brothers
Margeary: Well I could neither live with Stannis nor Robert forever. So I marry Renly. I think we would actually make a nice pair and with the right arrangement we could both have satisfactory while separated love lifes. Of course Loras would bitch about it but oh well.
So now the other two are a little bit more tricky. I think Stannis is fucking boring but I heard some interesting things from Milisandra.
On the other hand Robert is now fat and ugly but when he was younger he was quite prominent.
In conclusion I f*ck Stannis and kill Robert but if we do timetravel and go back to when they were still under the age of 25 I would go the other way.

Loras (after Renlys death): Margaery, why do good people die young?
Margaery: When you are in a garden full of flowers, which one do you pick?
Loras: The ugly ones!
Margaery: Exactly - wait, wait what? Why?
Loras: Because ugly bitches don't belong in my garden!

So the girl is as clever as she is pretty. Tommen could do a deal worse for a queen.

F*ck, Marry, Kill (Part 3)
Margaery Tyrell, House Arryn, Jon, Robin, Harry
Margaery: Well this is just easy. Marry Jon for his money, he would be gone soon anyway.
Than f*ck Harry and kill Robin.
This seems kind of mean but the other way around just seems even more wrong

Sansa was always going to be the main queen & the Starks were always going to win out in the end
Is this a...hand meta? Yes, indeed it is. To be fair, this is just my take and it’s something I noticed upon rewatch, 7x02 in particular.
Just a heads up, there are going to be a lot of screen caps below.
Dany tends to clasp her hands in front of her. The first time around, I didn’t think much of it. It’s a queenly gesture, affecting composure, so to speak. But what I noticed is Dany tends to do this when she is in the Queen role. Not Dark!Dany, not Khaleesi (in season 1), but as Queen (main Khaleesi):
Looking further, I noticed that Cersei, Margaery (after she marries Renly, then Tommen), and even Sansa do this as well:
But in season 8 Sansa tends to do something different that definitely caught my eye the first time around but other than her composing herself in a queenly manner or in a ruling capacity, I didn’t understand just exactly how much this very difference showed a subtle hint to the end of the show:
From episode 2 to episode 6, Sansa adopts this stance. It could be in response to Dany being present at Winterfell at first, just like her wardrobe and demeanor was meant to signal the threat she saw in Dany, but this continues long after Dany is gone from Winterfell, and then even to the dock where Jon says goodbye to the Starks.
As far as I can remember, I don’t recall seeing Cersei, Margaery, or Dany adopting this stance. But I do recall someone else having this stance:
This was sort of a joking post about Arya taking over Jon’s story line, that she steps into what Jon’s role would have been for Sansa had he stayed at Winterfell, minus the crown. Sansa and Arya, once reconciled, work very well as a team and that’s shown in 7x07 with Littlefinger and then again in season 8. Arya has Sansa’s back, even standing up to Jon slightly. Her interests (protecting their family) are aligned with Sansa’s. I meant it as a joke at the time but now looking at these, it makes that much more sense:
And then of course, they also show Bran adopting that same hands in front, fingers interlaced gesture and we all remember how he made out in the end:
So imo, this was a subtle hint that the Starks were going to make it out on top in the end, out of every other candidate, no iron throne needed. Sansa would secure the Northern independence and become Queen In the North, Bran would become King of the 6K (that one I never saw coming tbh), Arya would be able to do what she wants to, while Jon would somehow be in the North again.
I also had in my notes that when Dany clasps her hands, not only is she in Queen mode but she’s also trying to portray that role to whoever is around and it keeps her impulses at bay (for the most part) but that is another meta. ;-)
Thank you for coming to my hands Ted Talk.
I’ve discussed previously how the positioning of Dany and Sansa in the library scene in 8x02 showed that these were two queens going head to head but I failed to include this one. This scene above, while showing the contrast in the reception both women get from Theon, also has them on equal footing, literally and figuratively until Sansa goes to hug Theon. They made a lot of mistakes in this show but the little subtle things were done brilliantly. Their positions are identical, both with hands at their sides, standing neck and neck with a space between them. Two queens. Just brilliant.
This one I adore even more. While this shot is meant to show ruling capabilities I think (with Dany being Queen front and center) and to indicate that Dany (and Jon’s Targaryen heritage that he now knows about) is coming between Jon and the Starks so to speak, with Dany’s team on the same side as Jon. In this scene though, I noticed their positioning again. Dany has her hands on the rests of the chair, like a ruler does, and so does Jon, but in this particular shot, Sansa does not. For the whole scene, she keeps her hands in her lap. Not only is it showing Sansa is obviously still Lady of Winterfell (now Jon knows he has a birthright to the IT like Sam told him in the previous episode) but I believe this is also another subtle hint for the endgame. Dany believes she has a birthright, a destiny, to lay claim to the IT. Jon now knows he has one (though he doesn’t want it). Sansa is not looking to be Queen, only to retain her title as Lady of Winterfell and to hopefully get Jon back his kingship in the North.
Like I said above, this show got a lot of things wrong in the end, but these little subtleties (is that a word?) are brilliant.

F*ck, Marry, Kill (Part 2)
Margaery Tyrell, House Stark Ned, Brandon, Benjen
Margaery: Oh wow let's see.
On first thought I would say f*ck Brandon because he had the most women. But then I think about the fact that Catelyn probably didn't have five children for nothing.
And thinking about it I could never be married to Ned nor could I kill him. Sansa would never forgive me.
I feel like Brandon can be quite a drama Queen and there can only be one Queen and that's me. So I couldn't stand having him around forever.
Benjen and me being married could work out well because we would give each other the space we need to concentrate on our careers.
Conclusion f*ck Ned, marry Benjen and kill Brandon

F*ck, Marry, Kill (Part 1)
Margaery Tyrell, House Tully men
Margaery: Ok so this one is easy.
I would marry Brynden because I think marriage would hold me back in life and he probably thinks simulare, so we would manage.
I would f*ck Edmure. He is pretty enough, kind of soft maybe but I think I could have some fun f*cking him possibly while he is tied up.
And then I would kill Hoster, no offence but he is just left
