What have I done
Pairing: Queen Ravenna x reader
Genre: angst
Words: 1200
Note: I'm back with some Ravenna angst, hope you'll enjoy it as much as I liked writing it.
Tumblr media
For as long as you could remember you always lived at the castle of the king, your mother being one of his and his wife’s most trusted maids. You were still pretty young when the queen died, leaving the old man and his daughter Snow White in distress. You grew up in the happy kingdom of thrill and joy that started to slowly decay with every year you all mourned your late queen. But then, just as you turned into a lovely grown woman and got your own job at the castle, the king found a new wife, queen Ravenna. They all seemed so happy it felt unreal. Not long after however the old king joined his late wife in the gardens of Eden and all that was left was her majesty and the clueless princess, who ran away within the next year.
You could hardly understand it all and the land was unstable in times of such rapid changes. When you became the queen’s own maid, being young and freshly employed, Snow White was already wanted all over the country. To you, however, it wasn’t much concern. Your job was to make sure the queen’s comfortable in her clothes and shoes, massaging her feet and warming up her bed for the night. In the difficult times of doubt and uncertainty you slowly became her confidant. She could tell you anything, knowing you wouldn’t tell, and even if you did, no one would believe such unimportant being as her maid. From a confidant you became her friend and from a friend you build your way un to being her lover. You would never take any inappropriate step but when she invited you to her, how could you say no the most beautiful graceful being you have ever sat your eyes on?
You were still her servant willing to do anything and everything she ever asked for and giving her all you were, all you had and all you could ever get. You were completely and utterly taken by her glory, confidence and pride. It even made you a little proud yourself that the queen chose you over all the other men and women who fell at her feet every minute of the day. You took her joy and anger, anything she needed to release, all her good days and all the bad ones ended up with you being used in her bed. You could hardly ever stay, having to leave her warm cozy chambers to return to your cold and unwelcoming bed with a hard mattress and rat-gnawed pillow the moment she was satisfied with you.
With how fast and wholeheartedly you fell for the woman there was no stopping, no pleasure and no amount of kisses would be ever enough for you. You yearned for her presence and body as hard as the desert yearns for water. You needed her, longed for her at every second of the day. You could merge in the tightest hug on earth, eat each other in the most desperate of kisses and it still wouldn’t be enough. Yet lately it seemed her hunger exceeded yours, she needed release, assurances and the plain feeling of power. You became her most glorious possession, using you and savoring you at any moment she wanted to. With looking for more power and rule over the kingdom she became insatiable.
As you visited her in her throne room, she frantically walked around unable to sit still, her hair flying behind her with every turn like a veil of gold. To you she was still ethereal, the most beautiful of women on this earth. No matter how many worried wrinkles her forehead sported or the stressed pout on her lips. She was like a fairy with a flame that pulled in every moth around. It was obvious to you she was at her wits end, even if she’d never admit to it, being concerned with things you had no idea about.
“My queen.” You address her carefully. “May I help you?”
“Ugh, no. Leave me alone.” She hardly even spared you a glance.
“Maybe I can help you relieve some stress.” You tried again. “At least with a melissa tea?”
“I said get lost!” Ravenna angrily shouts at you and harshly slaps your face. “Now get out of my sight!”
“I’m sorry…” You whine holding your cheek with tears evident in your eyes.
“Oh don’t play that innocent little girl with me you spawn!” your emotional reaction infuriates her even more. “Your father never loved you and your mother rather died so that she didn’t have to be with you anymore. I don’t want to see you here again, you hear me!?”
You could hardly listen to her words anymore, running out of the room to not give her the satisfaction of seeing you cry. She liked hurting you, she liked having the dominant power over anyone. Yet never has she been so cruel and evil to you. At that moment, you believed her. You believed she wanted to get rid of you, to never see you again. So that’s what you did. You packed the few little things you owned and you left, your heart breaking into million little pieces as you left the only home you ever knew and the woman you loved so hard you could die for her. Yet you’d do anything to make her happy and if she desired you gone you’ll leave.
Ravenna on the other hand got her temper under control once again in a few days, establishing somewhat steady rule over her kingdom. All she wanted now was to enjoy a little piece of quiet, preferably with the tea you always made for her with the littlest bit of mint and honey and with your massage and presence. But after she ringed her bell to call you to her, a different girl came in your place, taking care of her with her gaze fixed on the ground.
“Where’s Y/n?” she barked at the girl, her mood immediately worsening.
“I don’t know madam, she left.” The maid answered fearfully.
“What do you mean she left?” no one had the audacity to leave her service on their own.
“She said you expelled her, so she left.” The girl shrugs looking at her queen this time.
“That is ridiculous! Bring me my guard.” She orders the girl who bows to her and leaves.
Not long after comes the commander of her guards, coming up with a plan for your search with her. The army turned every corner of the castle upside down to find you, and they rummage the whole city, but you’re nowhere to be found. Ravenna sends out unit after unit to travel to all the corners of her kingdom to find you, fearing what might happen to you in the wild and dangerous world. She wasn’t sure you were even still in her kingdom or alive, and that worried her infinitely. She didn’t realize how attached she grew to your presence and joyfulness, enjoying your mannerisms and easily pleased outgoing nature.
“What have I done.” She whispers into the darkness of her chambers feeling cold and unwelcoming without you in them.

It’s after nightfall when the Queen summons you. Her brother arrives at the door to your rooms, a leering grin on his mouth. You almost trip over your own dress in your haste to put distance between the two of you.
“Where is Sir Maynard?” You ask.
His grin gets wider, “Indisposed, I’m afraid. My sister has sent me in his place.”
The room is freezing despite the roaring fire and furs on the floor. It feels like a trap. Sir Maynard is always the one to escort you to your Queen, his hands startlingly gentle even in the beginning; A rapport and trust building between you as your affection for Queen Ravenna grew. Fear courses through you at the thought of something befalling him.
But nothing inspires more fear than her brother. You don’t know his name, don’t care to, for there’d always been a curious distance between the two of you. Whispers of his… proclivities reached you, and you operated under the assumption they reached your Queen too; your heart had always been warmed by the idea of her keeping you safe, even from her own family.
Now, you wonder how you’ve deluded yourself into believing you’d ever be away from him.
“An escort is unnecessary, Sir,” You say, trying to infuse your voice with strength, “Queen Ravenna knows I’ll come to her willingly. Though I thank you for your willingness to assist.”
His advance on you is swift and sure. In a second, his face is inches from yours, eyes boring into you. You look anywhere else. The unpleasant warmth and stench of him make your stomach twist.
“My sister, for some reason foreign to me, may let you get away with what you wish. Watch your tongue around me unless you want to put it to good use.” He punctuates the statement with a glance downward. Your face burns with shame and rage.
“I’d sooner lose it.” You snarl.
A hand clasps itself around your neck and the point of a dagger is aimed at your chest. Your skin bends to make space for it. One wrong move and it will slice through, spilling blood on the dress you adore.
You want to believe you’re protected, but you can’t say for certain; you can never say anything with certainty about your Queen. Wisely, you stay silent as he increases the pressure of his weapon and his hand.
“You’re a stupid, vile girl.”
The hand around your throat tightens.
“And one day I’ll have the luxury of doing what I want with you.”
He steps back, infinitesimally, and his hands fall away. One pulls at the sleeve of your dress and pulls it down your arm, the neckline moving with it. You shiver as more of your skin is exposed to him. He stops before any of your chest is bared.
With a lazy spin, he slashes downward. The skin splits open. You let out a pained noise, clutching your hand over the now-bleeding gash. The Queen’s brother pulls a white handkerchief from his belt and presses it into the wound roughly. Wincing, you flinch away, but hold the cloth in place.
“Fix your dress,” He snaps, “My sister is waiting.”
You pull up the sleeve and neckline so it hides the reddening handkerchief. A threat lingers in his eyes as he watches, then shoves you ahead. Dark soldiers flank your sides. You shiver against the chill in the air and follow their lead; you know the way just like the route to your own rooms—down several twisting halls, a few sharp lefts, and you’re before her doors—but they’re taking you somewhere different.
Instead of the final left, you take a right. You’re brought to two large, iron doors, etched with sigils and writing you can’t understand. One of the guards pounds his fist against the door three times before opening it.
Across the expanse of dark stone and pillars she stands facing away. Fire rages in the center of the room, drawing her full attention. You can feel the warmth of it from here and wonder how she can stand to be near it.
“I’ve brought the girl.” Her brother says. You jump, having forgotten he was there.
She turns and her eyes find you in an instant. You can’t help the blush you’re sporting, bowing your head and offering a polite curtsey. A smirk pulls at her mouth.
The smirk drops as she addresses the other occupants in the room, “Leave us.”
The soldiers offer bows and turn in sync, stomping out of the room. Her brother hesitates. His eyes flicker to her and then to you, giving you a long, serious look. Then he follows the soldiers. Your blush has vanished by the time he’s gone.
“You kept me waiting.” She says, low voice covering the expanse—both physical and mental—between you. You’re relieved to see her shoulders relaxed, “You never keep me waiting.”
You can sense the question in her statement, can practically hear her shouting what was more important than your Queen? But instead of raising her voice, she tilts her head, and waits.
Lying has never been a skill in your arsenal. And with your Queen looking at you like she’d unwrap your flesh from your skeleton should you cross her, you’ve never had the guts to try.
Skating the truth might work, you decide, “I was speaking with your brother, My Queen. He offered me a lesson on courtesy.”
She huffs out a laugh.
“I’d say that’s one skill you don’t need a lesson on.”
You blush. Now that the danger of tripping her wrath has truly passed, you take slow movements to her, coming to stop at the bottom step leading to the room of fire. Her eyes are intrigued when they look down at you.
“And what skills do I need a lesson on, My Queen?” You ask.
She lifts an eyebrow.
You’re quick to correct, “Ravenna.”
Ravenna’s eyes slip closed like her name from your lips gives her power. There’s a split second of bliss there, like when you’ve finished your usual duties with her, but it feels more intimate this time. You look away.
A blush pulls at your cheeks and you can’t fathom why; you’ve seen her in various positions and states of undress, heard things drip from her tongue that’d make any reasonable woman melt with shame. You’ve never had an issue being a witness before. You blame it on the heat radiating from the room behind her.
Fingers tilt your head back to look her in the eye. Ravenna’s closer now, armor clad body nearly pressing to your own. A finger, adorned with a black talon, scrapes along your bottom lip.
Her kiss is demanding and brutal when you’re locked in it, claiming every inch of you she can reach. You let out a whimper against her. Teeth find and tug at your lip, insisting on torturing you just within the bounds of what you can handle. You’re running out of air but can’t make yourself pull back.
Ravenna’s taloned hand ghosts down your neck and makes you shiver. You feel her grin against your lips when she starts to move to your chest and you moan pathetically, pushing yourself into her embrace. She freezes before fully touching where you desire.
You laugh against her, used to her teasing, but you open your eyes to shards of ice staring you down.
Her eyes have landed just about where her hand is and you gaze downward, freezing. There, next to her hand, blood has seeped through the exquisite fabric. Some of it stains her fingertips. You feel lightheaded.
“Take off your dress.” She commands, no longer Ravenna, but your Queen.
“My Queen, I…”
“You heard me. Take. It. Off.”
The control she had before is gone. When you step back to pull down the top of your dress, she stays rooted to the spot. Her eyes are sharp, deadly, and you know armies trembled beneath this gaze before but you’re not, whether it be stupidity or comfort.
Pulling down your dress reveals the bloodstained handkerchief and you peel it off of your skin. The gash is angry, blood still seeping from it, though in smaller amounts this time. You don’t dare wipe it away.
Ravenna steps to you and brings her own hand out to touch at the gash, hand shaking with barely contained rage. You try and fail to stop your wince.
“They’ll pay in blood.” Ravenna forces through gritted teeth, “Tell me their name.”
You go cold. Her brother has been her longest and fiercest companion, even uttering his name would assure her rage be directed at you. She’ll choose family everytime. You don’t want to die, not when there’s still so much time you haven’t shared with her.
“I…”
“A name!” Ravenna shouts.
Shaking your head, you try to pull back, but her left hand clasps around your arm. You’re caught in an iron grip.
“You’ll be furious with me.” You whisper, voice pleading.
“We’re beyond fury,” Her voice trembles, “A name.”
Wincing and looking at your feet, you accept your fate, “It was your brother.”
Emotions from defeat to pure hatred flicker behind her eyes before she settles on one; betrayal. Her hold on you loosens and you step closer, reaffirming the contact. She doesn’t react to it.
A vulnerability lingers in her muscles as she deflates, a lone tear tracking down her porcelain cheek. You ache to wipe it away. She’s staring past you, mind caught in something you can’t hope to understand. You remain an anchor to the physical world as you take her hand and bring the palm to your lips, your own tears falling onto the skin.
“I’m sorry,” You whisper, not sure she can hear you, “I spoke out of turn and upset him. It was my fault.”
Her hand tightens around your own.
“He knows the limit.”
Ravenna drags you to the door and your heart nearly beats out of your chest. She’s reached her limit with me, you think, as she throws open the doors with an ease that startles you.
“Guards!” She shrieks and they come running.
You wait for the command that will sentence you; you wonder if she’ll do it herself or if she’ll just have you thrown onto the streets to rot with the people. Will she slit your throat or take your heart?
Her hand ghosts over the gash and the lingering pain fades. Looking down curiously, you find the skin mended.
“Take her to her rooms.” Ravenna commands the guards, “And bring me my brother.”
Eyes widening, you examine her face, shock rendering you speechless. Her face remains the portrait of indifference as you’re led away. Disbelief floods you when you’re in your rooms, even as your ears hear the screams across the castle, and even as the whispers tell you he’s dead.
You feel dread at being responsible, but can’t help the lingering affection. You were protected after all.

With the Mirror at her command, Ravenna was invincible. She took her kingdom as she had taken others before it, and as she would take others again, with her sister Freya at her side.

“Don’t Test My Patience Child” - Queen Ravenna x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing; Queen Ravenna x Fem!Reader
Category; Fluff? Angst? Not sure
Warning(s); none
Summary; Snow White’s childhood best friend Y/n is kidnapped by the Queen’s guards and is asked by Queen Ravenna the location of Snow Whit but Y/n refuses to speak leaving the Queen with no choice but to keep her locked up in the palace till Y/n decides to come clean. Eventually Y/n does, but instead of the location of Snow White, Y/n reveals something else that leaves the Queen on edge.
[Babes, don’t worry Y/n is obviously above 18<3]
“Damnit!”
The voice of angered woman echoes through the halls. The Queen is not in a good mood and Y/n knows this but still remains to anger her more.
“Where is she?!” “I don’t know” “Don’t lie to me, you know where the fuck she is!” It’s true I do know but if I told her, she’d want nothing to do with me anymore and this is the only chance I have to being so close her.
“My Queen, I can assure you, I don’t know where Snow White is” she scoffed. “Oh really?” there it was, that seductive tone that she likes to use when she tries to get what she wants, that same seductive tone I fell in love with as a child.
***
“Mother, can I go and play in snow?” “Of course, my dear” Snow white scrambled off into the snow and played with her fellow animal friends. “Aren’t you going in as well?” The Queen asked the little girl beside her and watched as she shock her head and watched as Snow White was rolling on the white, cloud solid. The girl seemed in discomfort and Queen Ravenna noticed this. “Alright let’s go inside and I’ll give some hot chocolate, okay?” Agreeing to the Queen’s terms, Ravenna held the little girls hand in her own and walked her into the palace.
Sitting on her bed, Queen Ravenna was cuddled up with the little girl next to her, in a warm blanket and a hot chocolate in hand. “Thank you, Your Majesty” a pinch on the little girl’s arm made her shout in pain and shock. “Y/n, we talked about this, call me Ravenna, okay?” “Yes, I’m sorry Ravenna” “Good Girl” Y/n couldn’t tell what was making her so warm, the feeling of the hot chocolate when it hit her tongue or the warm blanket wrapped around her and Ravenna or maybe Ravenna herself was making her feel this warmth inside of her.
“What’s wrong my child?” noticing Y/n had zoned out, Ravenna asked in what sounded as if concerned and worried. “Nothing, Ravenna just...I’m grateful for all you’ve done me and I don’t know how to repay you” “Aw, my darling Y/n, you don’t have to repay me anything, you make my daughter happy and that’s enough” Y/n nods her head knowing that Ravenna would never let her repay her and it wasn’t up for debate. “And you make me happy and that’s enough, you’re enough! Okay?” “Yes” “Yes?” Ravenna exclaimed as if wanting for another word being said. “Yes Ravenna” “That’s my girl”
***
“Y/n don’t try and play games with me right now” “I’m being serious, Your Majesty” a low and audible growl escaped the Queen’s soft pink lips. “What did I tell you about addressing me by that name?” “I didn’t think it would still apply now” “Oh, it does, so go on...say it” looking down to hide the pink tint that was emerging on her cheeks “Ravenna” “Louder” “Ravenna” “Look at me, when your speaking” Lifting her head, her heart nearly burst out of her chest as she notices that Ravenna was inches away from her face. The warmth she felt all those years ago were coming back. “Now, say it” Ravenna’s husky voice brought Y/n out of her trance. “Ra-” Ravenna places Y/n’s arms around her neck. “Mhm, Ra?” holding back the devil’s temptations, Y/n tried to concentrate on saying the name that laid on the tip of her tongue rather than the feeling of Ravenna’s hands sneakily making their way to Y/n’s waist closing the gap between their bodies and now the only gap left was the one between their faces.
“Come on, I know you can say it” “Rav- Rav” “Come on, I know my little Good Girl can do it” Y/n was lucky that Ravenna hand her hands securing her waist or else her knees would have given up on her. Gathering all her strength she finally said, “Raven-” a kiss is planted on Y/n’s neck and this time she couldn’t hold it back. “Mommy!” Ravenna chuckles darkly at the fact that she managed to crack open her prey. “That’s my girl”
THE END

I Think I Loved Her (Too) - Queen Ravenna x Fem!Reader
summary: [Y/N] had been the Queen's servant for quite some time. A time long enough for her to develop unwanted feelings. Only, she could never act on it. She shouldn't, really.
tags: angst, death, NO FLUFF AT ALL.
[english is not my first language! also i forgot the entire plot of both movies, dad played a clip on tv and i just got the inspo. sorry.]
Tumblr media
Everyone knew of the Huntsman, and everyone knew of the incoming war between the Queen Ravenna and Snow White. It has been a thrill, these past few days, but most especially to the people who loathed the Queen. Seeing her weak and frail, growing "old" just like everyone-- the epitome of her reign, the reason why she was even Queen in the first place-- was now falling out of her touch. Which would indicate their freedom.
[Y/N] found the opposite. What was supposed to thrill her, scared her to death. And so, in place of Ravenna's brother, she had gone out of her way to kidnap girls the Majesty would find endearing. A gift. Or, as of now, gifts. Just until Snow White arrives. [Y/N] knocked gently on Queen Ravenna's chambers, the guards standing a few feet in front of it had given her a look. It's been weeks, after all. Weeks since Ravenna, rough as ever, slammed her against the very same doors while her lips were busy biting just hard enough to draw blood on [Y/N]'s neck. It was scarred for 2 days. [Y/N] wishes it had lasted longer. She hadn't anticipated for it to be the last, though. Damn Snow White.
With a weak yet firm voice, the Queen on the other side called out to whoever had disturbed her zoning out. "Who is it?" Never does it fail to astonish [Y/N] the commanding voice of Ravenna even at this state of her. The hairs on her neck stood the same since the first time she heard that voice. That soft, enchanting, tentative, yet hardened voice. One she could never read. She tried for all the time she had spent laying beside the Queen, who kept her at arms length every after sex. She never succeeded.
"It's [Y/N]," no reply. Not that it should sting, because Ravenna had made it clear she wasn't one to fuck and fall. [Y/N] was nothing but a release. Her beauty not even worthy to absorb. So why does it sting? "I have something for you, Your Majesty. Should I bring them here or take you to them?"
The quick rustling from behind closed doors answered the question, and [Y/N] knew Ravenna had taken offense at that. She was ready for it. A glare. A snark that would leave her sleepless tonight. A slap, even. But [Y/N] was always like that-- caring. And Queen Ravenna was always like this-- thinking every word of care was people belittling her abilities.
When the door opened, [Y/N]'s breath felt like it had catapulted into the sky. How could one think Queen Ravenna could ever be not beautiful? With those piercing eyes battling every fragility in her bones and with those lips [Y/N] had kissed multiple times and have been dreaming of for the past days? How could the mirror not think of her as the fairest? Just how the hell?
Those same eyes glower, and [Y/N] prepared herself for whatever it is.
She thought it'd never come.
Until it did.
[Y/N] felt the burn in her right cheek a second after, and she was in no doubt that it was burning red. It numbed for a little while, but after a beat or two it had tingled. It hurt. [Y/N] takes a sharp inhale, careful not to make it seem like she was pissed at Ravenna. She wasn't. She could never be. She wished she was. It'd make everything far easier. But oh heavens, she loves Ravenna in ways she had never loved someone. If beauty was what Ravenna wanted and if all beauty was what [Y/N] acquired, she'd knelt down and offered herself to the Queen with no regard for herself. Though it'd be ridiculous. Ravenna is beauty herself.
"Do not ever dare question me." She snapped, and [Y/N] felt her broken heart being thumped on repeatedly. Ravenna had used that tone many times. That line, too. It bothered [Y/N] as to why it still affected her.
She clears her throat before answering. Gather yourself. "Of course, Your Majesty." Her tone feigned a servant's politeness for their Queen. [Y/N] knew that was what she needed right now. To know she was still in charge. To know that even though people were calling her idiotic names in secret, she is powerful still. Power over them. Power over [Y/N].
At this, Ravenna takes a small step back, trying to stand much straighter. Perfecting her stance. [Y/N] mimics her, her eyes fixed on Ravenna's only for a split millisecond before they settled on the ground. She feared if she stared more, she'd break. She had missed the Queen. She had missed the way her heart beats like it was hunting a fast animal in the wilds. She had missed her touches, albeit rough and only ever sometimes soft, she badly longed for it again. It felt wrong to miss her this way, knowing there was something more worthy to think of at hand. Capturing Snow White, for instance. The thought of that girl had slipped away her mind the moment Ravenna stepped out of those doors, however. Somehow, whenever [Y/N] was in Ravenna's presence, every rational thought just seems to disappear into ashes.
"Where?"
[Y/N] takes a quick turn, her back now facing the Queen. She did not say any more needless words to avoid irritating the woman behind her even more. Instead, she paced fast and firm and led them both into the room she had kept every girl she captured that Ravenna would find lovely. Their hands were cuffed and secured tightly into the lower part of the walls, the small chain gave them little to no movements as they sat on the floor hopelessly. [Y/N] wanted to care or feel remorse for these innocents. It would feel better to know she hadn't thrown away her moral compass, at least not all of it. But Ravenna. Oh, Ravenna. If her Majesty wanted [Y/N] to slaughter everyone on sight, it'd be done within a matter of minutes. No questions asked.
One of the girls whimpered at the sight of the Queen, knowing what comes next. Only a handful of them had gone blank, their eyes giving nothing but acceptance. And the rest begged. Why doesn't it hurt? Why doesn't it ache, anymore? [Y/N] counted about 17 girls. 17 girls she had taken prisoners as sacrificial lambs. 17 girls with lives. She was once like these 17 girls, dreaming of love and rainbows, a future. So why does it not sting as much as Ravenna's looks and words to her earlier?
Ravenna tauntingly shushes the whole room. And that was what made [Y/N]'s heart jump. She steps aside and lets the Queen stride closer to the center of the room. Once again, her presence felt commanding. Like she, alone, could make the whole world fall to their knees with just one step of her foot. [Y/N] had. Countless times.
Time passed, and the screams of horror stopped. Ravenna's power could be felt from where [Y/N] was standing still, unfazed and with no guilt. Why would she be guilty? Ravenna was strong once again. The Queen, her Queen, felt in control once again.
[Y/N] notices the gentleness of Ravenna's breathing. When she turns to finally, finally, look at [Y/N], her gaze was fiercer. More confident. Beautiful, like always. [Y/N] fights the urge to run into her arms and confess just how much she had been waiting for this day. She fought it, of course. So, instead of screaming the love in her chest, [Y/N] says, "Is there anything else I could be of help with, my Queen?"
Ravenna raises a playful eyebrow, "Was this your doing?" She looks around the room. The youthful girls seemed like they'd gone through death. Old.
"I only did what I was told to do. To please you, that is."
"You always had a cheeky answer for everything, yet never a direct one." Ravenna muses. [Y/N] takes a deep breath at this comment, never really knowing if she were to say anything. If she should say anything at all. But the Queen had taken a step closer to her, there was a significant distance, however. "Pleasing me won't mean I'll be pleased. Nor will it mean I'll be fucking you all night as a reward. You think every hard work deserves reward."
It should hurt more. But [Y/N] was too focused on gawking over Ravenna's eyes to even formulate a quick response. Ravenna was too breathtaking. "I do not, Your Majesty. To please you is only doing my job. A life of serving a Queen like you is more than a reward."
"Cheeky, like I said." She softly chuckles. Not one of those who make your heart go warm, but one of those who make your heart go insanely wild. Ask [Y/N].
When silence started overtaking the whole atmosphere, and only the sickly wailing of what was once were young girls could be heard, [Y/N] decides to take a step closer. Only a step closer. Any more would mean disrespect.
"You have been greatly missed, my Queen." She should elaborate. Make it seem more impersonal. "By the Kingdom, of course."
The Queen crosses her arm, "Hmm, is that it? Are you certain they haven't been celebrating these past few weeks, thinking I'll be long gone?" It had been the truth. How it had slipped past her chambers, [Y/N] had no idea. Perhaps the mirror. It was always the mirror who distressed Ravenna, breaking her down into nothing. She'd claim it was a motivation to be more stronger, more beautiful. As if the figure in front of [Y/N] wasn't a masterpiece already.
"I've taken care of them."
"This has always been your problem. You care too much."
"Pardon me, Your Majesty. I'm only looking out for you." And your delicate feelings. Ravenna will never let it show, most especially to [Y/N], but Ravenna was as delicate as a glass. Only, she shatters where no one will see.
"You gawk too much, too." Ravenna frivolously smirks, and [Y/N] looks away.
Ravenna waited patiently for the cheeky come back this time, baiting [Y/N]. And of course she was baited. Who wouldn't be? "I apologize, it's been a while since I have seen you, Ravenna." She hadn't meant to address her without her title. Ravenna had strictly implemented that first-name basis was only behind her chamber's doors. And even then, it remained a privilege.
[Y/N] waited for another slap. This time, only the playful scoff came out. "No. You've always been gawking too much. I've been wondering why for a long time. You look at me like you wanted to decipher every inch of my face." Ravenna takes another step, and [Y/N] was sure they were only 4 feet apart. 4 more steps and she'd be closer. 4 more steps and she'd be face to face with the woman she is head over heels for. Just 4 more steps, and [Y/N] will crumble down to the floor at the sight of Ravenna so close.
She tries to keep her voice steady, "Maybe I do." The small change in Ravenna's manner made [Y/N] falter, but dauntlessness settled stubbornly in her chest. There was no way out, now. She had spoken with less fear. She'll be sticking with that.
"What?"
It took a hell of a lot of courage, but Ravenna was looking confused, as though she was now the one deciphering the woman before her.
"You're beautiful, my Queen. Your beauty transcends and is beyond heaven and earth. And why, I want to know. I want to know just how every expression seems to be a product of wonder. Not one single flaw is visible for every second I spend staring at you. That's not-- am I not valid for wanting to adore my Queen?"
Silence. Too much silence. Even the 17 girls around them fell quiet at this. Had it sounded like a confession? [Y/N] doesn't know. Doesn't want to know. Because she fears if the answer was yes, this would be the end of it all. Of being with Ravenna. Of being in her presence. She can't let that happen. She'd rather die.
Ravenna was looking at her so intensely. Her eyes bore right into her soul, searching for something. What was it? [Y/N] can't pinpoint, and she was starting to breathe rather heavily at this whole ordeal. Her heart felt like it was closing in. Ravenna was going to be her undoing. Her death. And her resurrection. With only that look, surviving already seems impossible.
One more second of this and [Y/N] will die.
Sensing it, Ravenna's lips curled into the side. "Cheeky."
Was that going to be all? [Y/N] pauses, she can't seem to think of anything clearly. She can't think. But her mouth agape, and words came out before it could click into her mind. "I apologize." Her voice sounded just as frail as those of the girls who Ravenna took youth from. Just as weak. Just as helpless. Heavens, was [Y/N] helpless.
"Do not."
[Y/N] slowly nods her head. Oxygen was starting to come back into her lungs, thankfully. Ravenna had stopped her intentions of stepping even closer, too. And in a way, [Y/N] was grateful even though she had wished for the opposite a while ago.
If that eyes of Ravenna's had gravely affected her, imagine what could happen to [Y/N] if lines were crossed as of this moment.
Gosh, she felt weak.
Ravenna looks at a distance, far away from where [Y/N] stood and into one of the girls. "What would you do if I let you go?" she spoke with so much neutrality it took a long time for [Y/N] to take it in.
What did she just say? "What?"
"You care too much. And you're saying things like these. I wouldn't complain much had I been decades younger. There would've been a time I'd let those words be the only thing to run around in my head." Ravenna shakes her head, in dismay of herself. She paces across a small, invisible line. Her thoughts rummaged back to the past when she was naive, still. A fool. "It did not end well."
[Y/N] could sense herself shattering any second now. "Ravenna..." She needed to take it back. The Queen needed to take that absurd question back. Why was she even entertaining it in the first place? Has it been in her mind for a long time? Has she already decided? With every second passing by, [Y/N]'s heart pounded harder and harder against her chest. It was aching too much. Far too much.
"Even that, you think you can just say with no ease. You think I'd gone soft, haven't you? That I have gotten a soft spot for you. I do not. In return for this foolishness, I'm letting you go." Foolishness, she had called it. But it was different. Couldn't she see it?
[Y/N] felt desperate.
"But I--"
"You love me. I'm not an imbecile. I know the look of love when I see one. You reek of it."
Her heart stopped. The world stopped. Her ears rang annoyingly. Her hands trembled. Her legs felt like wobbling, and she questions whether she could stand still for the entirety of this.
"Would it be so wrong? I am not asking for anything back." Her voice wavered and shook. Weak. Fragile. Frail. All the fucking synonyms of a fool in love.
Ravenna tuts. The expression on her face made it seem like she found all this astounding. Like what [Y/N] felt for the woman was shallow. It wasn't. It goes deeper than that. "The feeling is wrong itself, already. Of all people, you should have known that. Perhaps it was my mistake to trust myself with you. Yes. But I am fixing that by letting you go. Run off to whatever Kingdom you please, I will not care." She turned around, facing the girls. She'd admit the amazement that prickled her skin the moment she sat eyes in the room. 17 girls, [Y/N] had captured solely for her. Not even her brother could pull that off. With a push, maybe. But [Y/N] hadn't asked for any push. [Y/N] hadn't been asked to do anything, at all.
But still. Ravenna is stubborn. And this was going to just bite her ass in no time if she lets this go for far too long-- if it hasn't been long already.
She had noticed it a week before Snow White escaped. Ravenna never paid much attention to [Y/N] until she had sparred with her brother. It was all just sex, like she swore to herself. And it wasn't like [Y/N] was the only one she was fucking. There were plenty of them. But the moment her brother thumped hard on the ground, [Y/N] on top of him as she pressed the back of her knife onto a vital part of his neck, only Ravenna really noticed the looks. She'd sit on her throne in silence, and [Y/N] would stare like she was one to worship. She'd pretend to sleep after a night with her, and she could feel eyes raking her every part. Ravenna was no fool. She has known [Y/N] for quite some time. She had contemplated confronting [Y/N] about it early on, but Snow White escaped. And she had to deal with that first. Now was the time. Before the war. She needed to focus on that.
Not on [Y/N] eyes.
"You can't do this. Please." [Y/N] pleaded pathetically. Ravenna could only scoff. "I will stop myself. I will put a distance between us. I'll ensure you'll never have to deal with this. Just don't let me go."
Ravenna shrugs her shoulders, never meeting her eyes again. She focused on the once redhead, now looking atrocious. "Cute. But I already have too much to deal with. You're one less problem, darling. I expect you to be gone by daylight. If not, you know the drill."
She knows the drill. Has known for a long time. So before [Y/N] could begin her desperate pleas, Ravenna has swiftly left the room, taking advantage of her newfound strength. She missed feeling this powerful.  She missed this control. She just needs to defeat Snow White, now. And she'll be back sitting in silence on her throne. Her Kingdom will never have to doubt her again.
What Ravenna hadn't expected the day after she had confronted [Y/N], however, was her body. Her hands and legs tied tightly with a black rope. A piece of clothing wrapped around her mouth. Lifeless.
Everyone knew of the Huntsman. The man who betrayed Ravenna and chose to side with Snow. He was the best, at least to her useless brother. He had one careless and insulting mouth, haunting no respect to her as his Queen. She should've known that although Snow White was merciful, he wasn't as much.
Ravenna knew of the Huntsman, but she'd never anticipated being greeted early in the morning at her Palace-- [Y/N]'s body tossed into the center of her throne room like she never was once a person. Never once hers.
Anger and desire overtook Ravenna for most of the war. Not [Y/N]. Not the fact that the person who's ever looked at her with the greatest adoration and affection known to mankind was dead and gone. She can't focus on that. Not yet. The Huntsman had been smug all throughout. A look that says, "Got ya on that one, didn't I?" was displayed on his face.
Freya, who had gone to defend her sister, had taken the job to decapitate that face. He may have been her child, but betrayal stung more than any affection Freya had for him.
And so, they won the war. Ravenna won the war.
So why does she not feel victorious? She was an immortal, now.
"Ravenna, could you not consider it for one second?" Freya said, her attention shifted from the chess board to her sister. This was her last day in the Kingdom, and Ravenna's defences had gone astray-- she'd allow herself just this time to tell her sister about everything. How she let [Y/N] go, and how Snow White's men had captured her. How she fought to death for Ravenna. For her fucking name.
"I don't love, Freya. Not like that." Her lips thinned, and the tearing apart of her own heart was so vast she had thought perhaps she could die. Which was silly because she's never going to die. That fact provided little comfort. "I did not love [Y/N]."
"You said it yourself. You felt numb the moment the guards took her body to you." Freya justifies, and Ravenna finds herself entertaining the idea momentarily. "I've found love doesn't necessarily weaken someone. Not if you know how to control it. And you, of all people I know, have the greatest control. You shouldn't feel terrified of love."
Ravenna chuckles bitterly, "You sound like a little child again." It wasn't a snark, nor was it an insult, the expression on Ravenna's face wasn't so readable as she crossed her arms and leaned against her chair. Lost in her thoughts.
"And you sound broken, Ravenna."
"I let her go, told her I never cared. I let her go and now she's--" She cut herself off, recalling the eyes of what once screamed of love lay dull and lifeless. Seeing [Y/N] like that had cut deeper than she would've thought. She had been wrong. She had made a mistake. A grave one. And it cost her this. Ravenna bit her lip, her voice shook when she finally said, "I think I may have loved her, Freya."
"Ravenna," Her sister frowns, standing up to console the Evil Queen. "I am so sorry."
"I think I loved her, too."

Another long day of adjudicating and governing, Ravenna was ready to fall to bed exhausted and tense. The whole day of sitting in the slightly uncomfortable throne did nothing for her back and the heavy crown strained her neck. She wouldn’t trade her job for any other, but it still had its disadvantages. As the sun was setting down and she had only a few subjects left to see, she felt like the definition of “heavy the head that wears the crown.”
As she left the crown room heading towards her chambers, she couldn’t wait to see you. Any day was made better by the minutes she spent with you. Opening the heavy doors of your shared room, she noticed you weren’t alone. Your maid was keeping you company, massaging your swollen ankles and praising your baby bump. She couldn’t help but feel a ping of jealousy, having to spend the whole day separated from you while some unimportant servant gets all your attention.
“You can leave us now.” She commands harsher than she had to and the maid gets up and leaves assured by your nod.
“You don’t have to be so rude to her.” You scold you wife with nothing but sweetness.
“I can’t help it, she gets you all for herself.” Ravenna complains while sitting next to you.
“She’s helping me around, you think I could even get out of bed with this huge boulder attached?” you explain discontently.
“It’s beautiful.” Ravenna assures you giving you a little kiss on the stomach to amplify her words.
“It’s obstructive and unattractive. I feel like a huge whale. You can’t find me beautiful like that..?” you had a hard time believing such words lately.
“Love, you’re growing a new life here. It’s nothing short of amazing. And it’s gonna be our baby. I could never love you more. Hardly anything could be more beautiful than that.” The sincerity was practically seeping off your wife as she caressed every inch of your stomach.
“Yea, whatever. Will you help me with a bath?” you tried your best to believe what she said but you couldn’t see yourself the way she saw you. All you saw was a big fat lady who couldn’t even reach her own shoes.
“Of course. Let me take care of you.” Ravenna agreed enthusiastically, she’ll show you how much better her care is instead of your maids.
As she prepared a bath of your favorite temperature, a little too hot even for her, she poured a few scented oils in just to make it a tad bit more special. Since you became pregnant you felt cold all the time and the cold stone walls of the castle did little to help you feel cuddled, so you needed your baths and blankets to be extra warm. As the bathtub filled, she helped you get up and strip your clothes, finding your slight embarrassment adorable. Settling you in she rubbed your shoulders and back, relieving some of your constant pain.
“That’s amazing.” You moaned throwing your head back in relief.
“All the best for you, my princess.” She kissed the top of your head and helped you wash your hair.
When you left the tub she snuggled you in a warm fuzzy robe, preparing the bed to get you settled in. As she spread out the blankets, a knock on the door interrupted her. Yet she put you in and made sure you’re comfortable before answering, hoping it’s nothing important. The last thing she wanted was to leave. You whined as she left you to open the door. To her unpleasant surprise it was your maid again.
“I came to prepare the warming embers…” she explained unsure, hardly being able to look into your wife’s stone-cold eyes.
“We can take care of our own bed. Now leave before I make sure you never come back.” Ravenna ushered her away and closed the door as the maid practically run away without as much as a curtsey.
“I told you not to be so harsh with her.” You scolded your wife again, you didn’t know what you’d do without the much needed help.
“And I told you I don’t like her.” She countered as she got in the bed with you. “Now come here for cuddles.”
That was an offer you couldn’t refuse, so you snuggled next to Ravenna letting her pet your hair and caress your back with light scrubs of her nails. Lately you didn’t see each other as much as you’d like to, but you knew her job was important and couldn’t be slacked off and you were quite frankly growing a whole new life inside you and needed your rest. You couldn’t wait to not be pregnant again but moments like this made it all worth it.
