I wouldn't call this a complete repaint since I actually liked everything, including the skin tone match but not the eye paint. Unfortunately, everything, including skin tone, is painted on, not the bare plastic itself. So I couldn't just wipe off the eye paint and be done, even though I think the misaligned paint was badly done. So instead I tried to colour match the skin tone and instead painted over the eyes, making sure I was only covering the paint in a way that would look like eyeshadow. Otherwise this was a relatively simple face up especially since the eyebrows and eyes were sculpted on so I didn't have to worry about symmetry or wonky eyes. So my Miniso Blind box Queen of Hearts figure came in the mail today so I went about to making it work for my Mimi Bobeck body. I sawed out the head under the collar as it was a tough sort of vinyl, and also I found out the collar made up a significant amount of the head so I couldn't pry it off without needing to rebuild the area. Turns out after sawing off the head under the collar, it was a layer of solid vinyl which was easy enough to carve out a crude hole using plastic nips. The actual head portion is hollow so you just need to make it through the collar vinyl. I just eyeballed it to be smaller than the Mimi Bobeck neck knob. Since the head was vinyl I just boiled the head in a cup of water until it was soft enough to slip onto the neck. Even though I cut the hole bigger than the neck post (not knob), the thickness of the vinyl keeps the the head on in place. I was perusing my Instagram Explore page and found that an IG user called @Hongdolltoyhouse made a Queen of Hearts doll by putting a bobble headed blind box Miniso figure onto a Mimi Bobeck/"Fat Blythe" doll body. I poked around online and found that the Disney Villain blind box figures were being sold on Aliexpress so I ordered one (just search "Disney Villain Figure" and it should pop up on Aliexpress, though "Disney Villain Miniso figure" should also bring up the line). Anyway since I'm still in lockdown and have no idea when I can actually get supplies to work on my other dolls I figure I attempt a dress to fit on my Mimi Bobeck doll body. This was INCREDIBLY difficult cuz I had to rip up and cut out new colour block pieces, as well as mixing up where the colours should go. The yellow stripe inset part was the hardest because trying to work with sewing on a bias and matching up colours took much longer than if I just used a paint or something. But for something that confuses my dyslexic brain, I'm really proud how I managed to get this done. Part of the reason why I haven't made a Carlotta doll yet for my Ariel collection is finding a plus sized doll that's tall enough cuz as you can see, my Queen of Hearts is actually quite short. I wouldn't rank Alice in Wonderland on my top lists of things, but the 70th anniversary has brought out a lot of fanfare and content that I can appreciate, and I'm contributing with my own things.
