Finally have a finished project for Finished Object Friday!!!
(and I'm actually really happy with the fit on this one too, so here's my stony mug)
This is the Paintbox Hoodie knitting pattern published by KnitPicks [though I found the pattern as-published to be very poorly edited, and as such I had to rewrite much of the pattern myself]. Yarn is KnitPicks Brava Sport in the colors suggested by the pattern, though I switched black yarn in place of the white yarn they used, because black fucks harder.
This is the first project I've ever spent timing myself on, as people always ask me how long it takes me to knit things. I can confidently say this hoodie took me 101.25 hours of work in total!
I think I fell in love with the concept of this hoodie due to it being a good dysphoria hoodie in construction, but by its obviously rainbow nature also a pride project. Though it may be for the best that I didn't finish this in time for Pride Month, seeing as I would have died from the heat wearing this outside in June.
It is not warm hat season in my part of the world, but it is Pride month, so here’s some shameless self-promotion for my hand-knit pride hats. Every single one is designed and handmade from 100% wool by me (a queer trans person), which means that usually they’re made to order (this is a good time of year to place one because in the fall/winter there can be a line and thus a longer waiting period). Have an unusual head size? Want a style not listed in the shop? Message me for customization!
The hats come in three types:
There are your standard enthusiastic Pride flags, with stripes all over the hat. I’ve done more options than pictured here, and I have a discount listing for any that I haven’t made yet.
[Image description: photos of twelve knit hats with cables displayed on foam heads. Each hat is striped in the colors of a different pride flag: trans, lesbian, Philadelphia rainbow, aromantic, bi, nonbinary, genderqueer, asexual, aroace, agender, genderfluid, and intersex.]
The subtle version comes in a solid color of your choice, with pride flag colors of your choice in a narrow band above the ribbing. Of course, how subtle this one turns out depends on how many flags you want on it.
[Image description: photos of four knit hats with cables displayed on foam heads. Each hat is a solid color with a narrow band in pride flag colors. One is blue with asexual and aromantic colors, one is heathered green with genderfluid and agender flags, one is a muted blue-green with the bi flag, and one is dark gray with the genderqueer flag.]
The stealth version comes in a solid color of your choice from the outside, with pride flag colors of your choice hidden inside the band.

Top left is a blue-green hat, top right is the same hat with the band flipped back to show the bi and genderqueer flag colors hidden inside. Bottom right is a solid gray hat, bottom left is the same hat with the band flipped back to show the nonbinary and pan flag colors hidden inside.]
It’s so funny reading about queer male classic authors bc it seems like every single one of them-across continents even- knew each other by name. Like you’ll look up Bram Stoker or some shit and Wikipedia.org will say “had several orgies with Oscar Wilde and Walt Whitman, hung out with Alaina Locke in spare time to shit talk F. Scott. Fitzgerald” and you have to say well okie dokie then
gay beanie tag!!! finally found a use for the tiny wonky pride flag i crocheted! i've been thinking of how to gayify this beanie i knitted bc my first beanie is my enbeanie (enby flag colours beanie) and while i wanted a plain black i also wanted a way to subtly queerify it n i finally had the best idea!!!!
Hey people who design knitting patterns for sweaters, how do?
Particularly interested in figuring out an algorithm for altering sweaters to fit atypical body types, particularly for trans and nonbinary and otherwise queer people. I am confident I can eventually do this because I am going to hyperfixate on this, math and algorithms are my favorite, and I have a good understanding of knit sweater construction types.
However, I think I should probably start small and learn about things such as "grading" [what even is that] and "designing a sweater for many different sizes."

I learned there are yarns of the queer flags sold at JoAnns fabrics by Big Twist in the USA. They're all $2.49 (before coupons) so I got a bunch. The flags sold (• = I haz it) and their store names (if I know it):
Rainbow/gay
Lesbian
Bisexual• (store name: serenity)
Pansexual• (store name: confidence)
Transgender• (store name: life)
Asexual• (store name: community)
Non-binary• (store name: authentic)
I have one skein of bi, pan, and trans so I can make stuff for others but I got a metric crap-ton of ace and non-binary skeins because those are my flags (demisexual demigender ftw👍🏿) and might as well lol I love how the flags have really sneaky names to throw conservatives of their scent lol
if i post my crochet work on here will ppl actually engage with it bc i want PRAISE i want FEEDBACK i want INSPIRATION but no one gives that on instagram
I recently finished this commission for several knitted entrelac neck warmers -- asexual, bisexual, rainbow, and aromantic pride colours, and one pillow (aro colours). I currently have one each of the transgender and pansexual pride neck warmers pictured in stock.
The neckwarmers are $50 each plus shipping. They are 100% acrylic, and measure roughly 15x13 inches. The pillow version is $75 plus shipping.
