Synopsis below the cut!
Lucia is a succubus, a demon with the power to shape the emotions and passions of mortals. Summoned often into the world of Melodia, she takes pride in upholding her demonic contracts to the best of her abilities. She likes to think she does her job well … though a string of recent failures say otherwise.
Talia, the recently elevated Duke of Fallmire, summons Lucia for a simple reason: to pose as her wife and fulfill marital obligations to the satisfaction of Parliament. All to say, just a few weeks of walking around the estate and playing nice with the neighbors before a conveniently tragic death. Quick and easy.
But immediately, Lucia smells blood in the water. Behind closed doors, the Duke plots vengeance upon those who killed her father—and the demon wants in. Revenge, after all, is much more fun … and more lucrative, to boot.
But can Lucia predict how hard she’d fall for the Duke? (Not a chance). And can the Duke find it in her vengeful heart to love?
Spice Level: lightly described nudity, fade-to-black sex.
64,000 words.

Life is wild sometimes. I made a small decision almost a year ago, based on a recommendation of one of the most positive individuals to ever grace my life so far, and I firmly believe that it has changed the course of my life. The decision was to sign up for a class about fantasy writing and publishing that my university was offering, which is the exact genre I so desperately want to have a career in (I want to be a writer you see). That fall I took the 8 week class and it happened to be taught by none other than the absolutely wonderful, utterly amazing fantasy author Alex Rowland (aka @ariaste). If you asked myself or any of my peers, we will happily tell you that this class was one of the comfiest, kindest, most encouraging academic experiences we have ever had and that it has changed our lives. Anyone who has taken at least one creative writing class in their life will tell you of the horrors that ruthlessly plague them and all sorts of traumatic incidents endured. This class was a soothing balm to a disheartened soul with trampled ambitions. You might be wondering where I'm going with this? Well, when you take a class with an author, they tend to gush rather happily about their work. It did not take long for me to know in my heart of hearts that I NEEDED to get my hands on Alex's latest book, A Taste of Gold and Iron (aka ATOGAI). And when I finally got the perfect chance to read it a little over a month ago, when I tell you, it was chapter five when I became undeniably aware that this book had snatched my heart and I would gladly let it have it for the rest of my life. If I hadn't already bought all of Alex's books on a strong hunch that I would absolutely, completely and utterly fall in love with ATOGAI, I would have definitely right after I finished that chapter. This is inarguably one of the best books I have ever read, checking all my boxes (including ones I didn't even know I had). I don't think it's possible to praise it enough because it deserves it all. The wait I endured before I could read it was so worth it and I will be forever grateful for the sheer chance that it and it's author entered into my life. It shattered my high expectations and I will never be the same and couldn't be happier about it. Now, I still have to read the other books that Alex has written (and I will savor them like a piece of the finest of desserts and I haven't the slightest doubt, despite that I tend to be more on the quiet side, I will be absolutely mouthing off about them to anyone who will listen), but I want to specifically highlight their upcoming book, Running Close to the Wind (aka RCW). Because I was in their class and a part of their Discord, I have been treated to several chapters of the book and I can very firmly tell you that you need this in your life. It's terribly funny, utterly vibrant, very queer, full of gremlin chaos and pirate shenanigans, all good and wonderful things, right? I knew I needed it in my life half way through Alex reading chapter two to us. It comes out in June of this year and I so highly recommend you give it a look see. You can read an excerpt in the link below!
And if you too decide that you need this book in your life, go preorder it and then come join a Discord full of awesome queer pocket people that are also terribly excited for this book to be in our hands! I will also be posting fanart of ATOGAI and RCW if you also want to keep an eye on this little habitat of mine. :) Either way, best wishes and happy reading!

The sixty-seventh free, unedited chapter of my upcoming book, “The Heist at Cordia Aquarium” is now available on its website (or click here to read from the beginning).
It's dark. Cramped and humid and hot. Thea tightens her arms around her knees; each breath comes rough. Haggard. Harsh against her throat, dry and raw as it is.
It's my fault. I could have said something; I could have stayed out of this and let them find someone better. Then Ivan could become a wrestler; Waylon could help whoever it was that needs him. But no, I'm selfish. I took everything from them.
Her thoughts bounce around inside her head, repeating — never-ending. Those that she escapes just add to the weight of the air around her. Floating at the edge of her perception, like specters waiting for another turn to haunt her.
She presses her head into her knees and she wretches. A dry, tearless sound — just as it's been for a while now. How long am I going to sit here, useless?

Now Available: Hockey Bois by A. L. Heard
Tumblr media
Our successful crowdfunding campaign for Hockey Bois by A. L. Heard has been fulfilled, backers have their awesome rewards, and that means now, even if you missed the December pre-order window, now you can get your copy of this fun contemporary hockey slow-burn mlm novel!
Nick Porter has always loved hockey. Ever since he can remember, it’s been his favorite thing in the world. It’s too bad he never learned to play, he’d tell himself, but it was too late to do it now. Adults don’t just magically learn to skate and join a hockey team. That’d be ridiculous.
Except maybe they do? On a whim, he decides to sign up for an adult beginner’s class. He learns to skate, joins a team, and meets a really hot teammate… and it’s pretty much a disaster from there on out.
Available in…
e-book from our website, major retailers, and through the library e-book app of your choice!
trade paperback from our website and major retailers, and you can request it from your library or bookstore of choice!
hard cover is only available through our website, and only while supplies last. We have about a dozen copies left and will not be printing more so if you want the hard cover, get it while you can!
Want even more? Don’t miss the merchandise!
Tumblr media
chibi Nick and Brady magnets (sold as a set – and sorry, despite the image suggesting otherwise, the Brady magnet is not holographic)
two-sided bookmark
chibi Brady skating sticker (holographic!)
chibi Nick skating sticker
chibi Nick and Brady holding hands
Nick and Brady clinking beer bottles; and
the front cover artwork (very limited supplies left on this one!)
And that’s not all! Can’t get enough and Nick and Brady? We have short stories by A. L. Heard for that!
Brady Jensen vs. Haunted House: a “what if” alternate take on if these characters went to high school together!
Brambles, Pollen, and Other Natural Disasters: a sexy “what if” college setting version, with sex pollen!
Snowbound and Love Sick: another sexy alternate take, this time snowed-in together in a cabin – what could possibly go wrong?
And you can get EVEN MORE on A. L. Heard’s ko-fi!

When I first read Ethan of Athos I was in middle school and had absolutely zero concept of queerness. It just sailed right over my head (as did most romance) (cough cough foreshadowing) and sure some of that was subtle ‘it’s the 20th century we don’t say that’, but I was particularly thick headed. I mean they basically secured their victory by holding Terrence C’s hand and thinking gay thoughts! Regardless, I got to the climax where Ethan and Eli are shoved in a cramped space, buck naked, left to die. And baby me rolled their eyes and was like ‘ugh now they’re going to kiss and somehow that means they save the day’. And Ethan of course is reacting reasonably to the situation and is scared and slightly disgusted. And then the book ends and they’re just friends and I was left reeling because I didn’t know that was an option. It was that baked in assumption that the boy and girl get together at the end that was truly my only understanding of romance. And for a baby aro/ace, realizing for the first time that romance isn’t just the Herero checkbox needed for the happy ending, well. It was kinda life changing. This seed got planted in my head, even if nothing would come of it for longer still. So, sure it took years and a lot more exposure to queer circles for me to take a double take and go oh my god they’re hom of sexuals, but obviously I was already dense enough to barely understand the hetero relationships shoved down my throat. I still found queerness through it even if it probably wasn’t the intended kind. And that was incredibly important for me.

“Bucky & Steve: Home” Chapter 40 illustration from my Stucky HS AU “The King of the Jocks: The King of the Misfits.” Find it on Archive of Our Own (Jessie Lucid) or use the link in the comments.
In the following excerpt, Steve, injured and high on pain medication, has ‘escaped’ from the hospital and shown up on Bucky’s doorstep in the middle of the night. Exasperated, Bucky’s dad has told Steve to wait while he goes down to the basement to find him something to wear, leaving Steve to contemplate the morality of icing his broken ribs.
Steve could hear him rummaging around down there, doing whatever dads did when their son’s boyfriend showed up covered in blood for the third time in as many weeks. Maybe he was looking for an air mattress like Sam. Or maybe they had one of those doomsday freezers stockpiled with vacuum-sealed meat and frozen peas.
Cringing, Steve pressed his palm against the tender part of his rib cage.
It wouldn’t be right to ice his broken ribs with a rack of Baby Back Ribs. Just like it wouldn't be right to ice his nose with a bag of frozen pig snouts. Steve was too in tune with the dead to mock them, even the ones who'd crossed the veil in animal form.
“My ribs will heal," Steve said, considering vegetarianism as the wub-wub-wub turned into the squeals of the Three Little Pigs, “while yours are destined to be slathered in barbecue sauce and strapped to a spit."

I drew the cover for Twoony's novel, Not So Superhero! You can read it as an ebook or paperback :^)
Born without powers, Bailey Schaefer has accepted that he’ll never be like the superheroes he sees on TV. Though that won’t stop him from learning about them by attending Ringgold college, one of the best Mutant Studies institutes in the world. Bailey expects college parties, regrettable hangovers, and panicked midterms, but what he gets is a rude and very kissable custodian with an entire dumpster full of secrets. As a simple custodian, Zane Levitt strives for a mediocre life; he lives in a boring apartment, eats takeout a little too often, and watches too much streaming. So when a klutzy college boy—far too cute than he has any right to be—continuously trips into Zane’s path, he’s hellbent on avoiding the bad luck charm. But both their lives are about to make an abrupt adjustment when Rebirth, a villainous organization meant to have fallen years ago, returns with a vengeance. Bailey and Zane find their mix-matched romance thrown into a chaotic whirlwind of superheroes and villains, hidden pasts, and painful family secrets. Maybe together they can finally take down Rebirth once and for all, and put history to rest. TW: Violence, on page sex scenes, and hints towards torture and child abuse.

All that's left in the world by Erik J.Brown
"Suddenly everything feels so hopeless. But then I look at him; I hear his laugh, I see his smile, and the darkness melts away. Then I do have hope - even just for a little while - because I know that there is something in this world I can fight for. Something I will fight for if I have to."

You know how they say not to judge a book by its cover? Well, this book is as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside! I absolutely adore it to pieces! It has taken its rightful place on my bookshelf alongside my first copy and other related books! And for fellow crow brained individuals who love pretty shiny things like myself, you should definitely keep an eye on June for the upcoming hilarious pirate novel "Running Close to the Wind" by the same fabulous author Alexandra Rowland! As they say, pirates always have a few pretty shiny things. 😉 Read an excerpt of it below!

The seventy-first free, unedited chapter of my upcoming book, “The Heist at Cordia Aquarium” is now available on its website (or click here to read from the beginning).
Avery stares up at the hero. A licensee in action, costume and all: kicking down doors, saying one-liners. All to save her from... no one anymore. From anyone to begin with, if Thea is telling the truth.
In what should be a moment of relief comes an onslaught of questions. Worried questions. Spawned by her habit of blurring past one catastrophe in search of the next. Am I going to have to pay a bill or something? How much does a rescue even cost? Shit, this is my first year paying taxes. Are rescues tax-deductible?
Avery doesn't ask any of those, opting to keep them prisoner within her oxygen starved mind. She sucks in an unsteady breath. "Why did it take you so long to get here? Is the ambulance close?"
Scrypher moves her head, but barely: a centimeter up and to the right. She probably has a clock in here. "No. It's only been five minutes since you made the call and we were on-site within three; that's more than acceptable." Scrypher says, reaching a hand into the breast of her trench coat. "Medics will arrive momentarily. Before they do, could you tell me who's hiding behind that desk with you?"
[...]
Since she’s making another appearance, here’s Scrypher’s concept sheet.
