just finished rereading the imperial radch trilogy. i am being sooooo normal about seivarden having a full on breakdown in front of the lord of the radch because she just loves breq that much*
anyway the way these books say "the power of love, yes, but also the power of violent and righteous rage"
*and is obviously going through it in many other ways but the trigger being anaander being rude about breq.....
truly the moment of all time for me. I've been so very unnormal about it for 7 years now.
idk if I'd call it violent rage, more uncontrolled, but definitely cathartic. I love how eloquent it is, it's evidence she has actually been thinking a lot about justice and benefit and morality on some level!

Tagged by @drumlincountry, ok, let’s do this!
What are you currently reading? I’m always reading multiple things, but most actively ‘unto others’ by Elliot Sober and David Sloan Wilson
What’s your favorite movie you saw in theaters this past year? I haven’t gone to the cinema in years, I think the last thing I saw in the cinema was Kingsman the Golden Circle in Oh God 2017. But I’m looking forward to seeing Dungeons and Dragons Honour Among Thieves in the cinema this year!
What do you usually wear? Depends on the weather really! As long as it’s cold enough for it it’s a lot of hand-knit sweaters. In summer it’s simple t-shirts or button ups, usually with floral patterns. In between a lot of long-sleeved button ups, preferably also patterned, with a thin sweater over them, depending. I’ll usually wear stompy boots, leather sneakers, or birkenstocks depending on weather, and a simple bomberjacket in summer or my brown long heavy wintercoat in winter. With my flat cap, of course, but not inside.
How tall are you? 5′10 or 1.78 if you are sensible
What’s your star sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or historical event? I share a birthday with the massacre at Sebrenica during the Bosnian genocide, the reaction to which made it a turning point in that war (NATO got involved, which saved a lot of lives and tankies can stuff it). That makes me a cancer.
Do you go by your name or a nickname? I go by my name, I picked it so I might well use it no?
Did you grow up to be what you wanted to be as a child? Not really, child me wanted jobs that required me to be way less of a klutz than I am.
What’s something you’re good at vs. something you’re bad at? I’m very good at knitting and formal analytic thinking and very bad at understanding dishonesty of all kinds. Unless I can tell from factual evidence that someone is lying, I will most likely keep operating under the assumption that they are acting in good faith
Dog or Cats? Yes
If you draw/write, or create in any way, what's your favourite picture/favourite line/favourite etc. from something you created this past year? ‘“We caught some… spies, I think, your majesty. We’ll bring them downstairs for questioning. We don’t…. we don’t think they are dangerous.” The taller boys’ expression turned distinctly insulted at that.’ (a fic I’m still working on)
What's something you would like to create content for? I would enjoy making more decorations for my home
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with? Longform Dresden Files fanfic from 2013. Don’t ask.
What’s a hidden talent of yours? A lot of people need a surprisingly long time to figure out I have a sense of humour
Are you religious? Yeah
Are you in a relationship? Nope. Friends are good though, including those with benefits.
What’s something you wish to have at this moment? The ability to go to sleep directly after going to bed

hi, I was wondering if Grovedaughter Witchery (and your other works) are available as ebooks on other platforms than kindle. I'm trying to avoid locking in my library to the az3w format and so if it's not I will probably get it as a physical copy instead :)
Currently, the ebook is only available in Kindle format, but print copies are available through my shop or on Amazon. :)

top five fictional #girlbosses?
azula ofc the way she looks so cool and composed and clever while serving the patriarchy and ultimately has a breakdown because her ideals and lifestyle are fundamentally untenable and impossible to maintain!!! perfect character mwah <333
rebecca tedlasso she is SUCH a good girlboss I love watching her reckon with the aftereffects of her abusive marriage and learn to open her heart and be vulnerable and care again!!! when she sang that song from that one movie I fucking cried ok!!!! divorcée rights!!! <333 i mean that
valencia crazyex perez the way she goes from being “cold” and seeing other women as competition and feeling threatened by sisterhood to like. coming out and loving women both platonically and romantically and becoming so much happier and fulfilled than she ever would have been if she had stuck to her predetermined life plan that she neurotically obsessed over and strived to control every single part of!! homophobic lesbian queen icon legend!!
lady macbeth possibly the original (& sexiest) girlboss???? literally convinces her husband to commit regicide is like FUCK femininity i wanna be evil and then is almost immediately like wait being evil sucks i wanna be a mom :( ok it’s more complicated than that but honestly she breaks my heart and also is sooo fuckable which rly makes her peak girlboss tbh
and ofc my beloved of all time princess bonnibel bubblegum, mad scientist loner genius man-hating dyke pitch-perfect performer of femininity paranoid autocrat trust issues abused child all she wants is love and a family and to be understood and accepted and seen for who she is!!! best arc of all time and obviously that includes deconstructing girlbossism in the most brilliant transformative way possible bc that is what adventure time DOES babey!!!!! ugh. LOVE HA
in conclusion, the best girlboss narrative demonstrates that this mindset/lifestyle is impossible to maintain, as there is always an expiration date for how long a hollow imitation of patriarchal ideals without the rewards of true power and true confidence can sustain itself until one either implodes or learns to embrace her own vulnerability and need for love and connection! and whats more, any girlboss narrative that does not follow this philosophy is thematically useless. ok bye

@zettifar i can't believe you would do this...

Please! Johnmanny REAL!
LITERALLY SAY THAT!!!!! SAY. THAT.
johnmanny REAL because matt ryan and mr harold perrineau are the actors of all time and ALSO because it's about the tension of being an angel deciding to betray everything you know for literally the worst man imagineable and then forgoing even THAT for some further sexy evil plot. it's about being a sexy evil(?) angel with a terrible man wrapped around your finger because he still wants to believe in something holy despite his protests.

swrs asks!!! 3, 14, 15, 18, 19 > any or all!
3. favourite character from prequels?
kote ner cyare!!!! yes cody is only in the actual prequels for like 2 mins yes he’s still my favourite
14. if you could change one thing about the star wars universe, what would it be?
ohhh boy that is a whole question. um in a ‘the characters i like should be happy’ way, cody’s chip is damaged by headbutting too many clankers so order 66 doesn’t go through. in ‘what i think would be narratively good’, i’ve been thinking a lot about how force-users should be more fucked-up and eldritch like visibly. not just sith! you should be able to look at a jedi and tell they’re a conduit for the power at the heart of the universe i think
15. did you play any star wars video games?
i think i played my brother’s lego star wars when i was a kid? in general i don’t play video games but i do live vicariously through those who do. i’ve watched multiple playthroughs of jedi: fallen order!
18. how has star wars impacted your life?
not to be a sap but i have met so many lovely people on here through star wars, and the various lockdowns in the last year have been an infinitely better and less lonely experience because of them
19. what type of outfit would you wear?
full suit of armour is the best look of all time and contains so much gender. obviously in star wars universe wearing armour all the time comes with hideous dangers but you know that’s the price you pay for the look. i think i would ideally have one of those imperial era rebel jedi aesthetics with partial repainted stormtrooper armour

top 5 din djarin character interactions?
5. cara dune. while her actor is a pos i think that especially the first episode with her had a lot of good chemistry. “want some soup?” iconic. then they made her a cop and i think it really shifted their relationship and also looking at her just makes me think of antisemitism now so :/
4. mayfield. i think their relationship can entirely be summed up by giving din his helmet and promising he didn’t see din’s face. he went from mocking din for his beliefs to respecting them enough to understand just how horrible din was feeling walking into an imperial base with a bare face.
3. omera. im not big on het couples in tv but i wouldn’t have minded if they had some romantic moments. the chemistry between them was soft and sweet and i think omera showed din what it meant to be a parent and helped him really develop his relationship with grogu. she respected his culture but still clearly yearned for more and i think omera was the first and only person other than gorgu that din might have ever considered showing his face to.
2. bobaaaaaa. i think boba and din sort of imprinted on each other. din has had his biggest link to his culture, his covert, destroyed, and boba has drifted in and out of his culture without his father to guide him, so they bond on that loneliness that comes with being without one’s people. i think boba sees himself in din in that he knows the pain of losing your dearest family and he appreciates that din doesn’t see him and immediately jump to clone. to din, boba is a person first and a clone 3453452345th.
1. grogu. who else could i possibly say? what would mandalorian be without found family? the two belong together as father and son and din has never felt so connected so quickly with someone in his life. tbh, even though din isn’t force-sensitive (though i headcanon he is just the tiniest bit) they probably have an extremely intense force bond.

hi Julian, i only just followed you and I don't want to be intrusive or parasocial about this. I don't really have any known intersex friends irl who might "get" this specific feeling, and one of your asks in the interasks tag touched on this, regarding coerced hormonal treatments. i have to start taking the pill for medical reasons relating to endo caused by a genital variation, and im just realising now they hardly discussed any options with me. would you be comfortable dm'ing about it?
I dont know too much about coerced hormone treatment if ur looking for more info, but I'm definitely down to listen and stuff! DM me when you're up to it.
Just know I don't always reply to DMs right when I read them because I don't always have the Brain Energies to and I wanna be able to give people proper replies, so I wait sometimes.

3, 8, 9, 24? For the book asks? :)
3. What were your top five books of the year?
Such a Fun Age by Keily Reid, The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin, Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado, and Bread and Wine by Samuel R Delaney.
8. Did you meet any of your reading goals? Which ones?
The only goal this year was to read 100 books, which I don’t think I’ll complete - two weeks to read 9 more books.
9. Did you get into any new genres?
I read more horror this year than I normally do.
24. Did you DNF anything? Why?
The Need by Helen Phillips because I found it so dull - cool concept badly executed.

oooh wow. good post on the "everybody's a little bi"; frankly it's also damaging to bi people, because it's used to minimize bi people's experiences with marginalisation; like you said, also makes it more difficult for bi people to imagine a life outside of heteronormativity; and is also very much used to pursue "bi women unicorns" while demonising bi men who act on their bisexuality. Its like. everyone's a little bi, so why are you acting Different!
exactly. that rhetoric is specifically harmful to bisexuals, who use it to mask their shame, and in so doing distance themselves from the important work of being an active member of the lgbt community. bringing visibility to bisexuality as a constructed label used to define a certain type of person means acknowledging that not everyone will fit that label (by which I primarily mean straights & gays—pansexuality discourse is another issue & I don’t wanna get into that rn) and that’s okay. to claim that “everyone is bi” erases the experiences of gay people who are specifically demonized for not being attracted to the “opposite sex” (whatever that means lol), straight people who are comfortable in their sexuality, and bi people who take pride in themselves and are able to fully acknowledge their bisexuality without diluting it out of internalized shame. it’s just bad rhetoric all around
