These days I find myself seeking the things I can’t live without: the simple, the good, the nourishing. So this morning, I enjoyed one of my most treasured combinations: hot coffee, the permeation of scent from one of my most beloved candles, fresh flowers from the market, and a quiet place for repose.

okay but rubbing noses with L. hhh.

just him walking up to you, slipping his arms around your waist and leaning forward to brush his somewhat pointy nose against your softer one.

you can smell his breath, the scent of cake and coffee and strawberries. he can smell yours, too, and he wouldn't care at all if it smelt like tuna or if it smelt like rainbows because when your lips part you're so beautiful. he just wants to kiss you.

but kissing doesn't feel as intimate as this.

so his nose stays there, against yours, and the greatest detective in the world is standing here with you as the sun sets outside the windows, breathing on you and soaking in your light and warmth as he stares into your wonderful eyes.

and then as quickly as he came,

he's gone,

the scent of vanilla frosting lingering where he stood.

It's 2am.

It's 2am and Misa is falling asleep on your shoulder as you're watching a sappy romance. Her head keeps jerking up as she tries to stay awake and she giggles and kisses your arm and yawns. Her hair is a mess, her makeup is smudged and she's wearing oversized, ugly, green pyjamas. And she's falling asleep right there with you.

It's 2am and Light is leading you in a deliberately clumsy ballroom dance around the room. He bumps you into the bed and walls to hear you laugh. And he catches you every time he thinks you might really stumble, because of course he's perfect. But it's more fun to mess up. It's quiet and cool and he's dancing with you.

It's 2am and L is throwing marshmallows into your mouth. It's the same as any other time of day for him but as you're snuggled into his lap in the dead of night the lights dancing in the corners of your eyes might just be fairies. And he holds you as he takes five minutes off work and tells you stories, just there, just him and you.

It's 2am.

It's 2am and it's just the two of you.

sometimes i feel like such an introvert — i don't want to speak to anyone or for anyone to speak to me. but then i remember topics that i really, 진짜 정말 enjoy talking about and i realize that if someone would let me talk about those things, i would not shut up and would actually gain a lot of energy from that conversation.

but for now, i am also happy with quiet mornings when nobody minds me and i don't have to mind anybody — just enjoying my own world.
