 Quinceañera
☾description: Miguel and you plan Gabriella’s quince
☾a/n: my friend sent me a video of fanart about Miguel and Gabriella at her quince and I GOT IDEAS NOT EDITED (i kinda wrote it in a rush so it’s not the best, but i’ll fix it later)
☾song inspiration: Amor Eterno by Rocío Dúrcal
☾warning: none it’s pure fluff
Tumblr media
“Miguel did you send out the invitations?!”
“Not yet! Did you book the hair appointment?!”
“Working on it!” You called out as you balanced the phone on your shoulder waiting for the hairstyles to respond back after having you on hold.
Currently, your husband Miguel and you were planning your daughter Gabriella’s quinceañera. There were only four months left before the big event, and everyone in the house was pulling their cards.
Which speaking of the birthday girl, Gabriella came running down the stairs with a crying baby in her hands. “Mom! Othello is hungry again!”
“Hold on mijita I need to finish sewing this last piece on.” You mumbled as you held the needle in between your lips. The horrid elevator music still playing on the phone.
“Princesa can you go get the purple ribbon for me.” Miguel pointed towards the coffee table, gently taking the baby boy into his arms. “Amor did you already pump some leche?”
“Yes it should be in the fridge.” You answered back, the light, purple fabric laid on your lap. Its glittery rhinestones shinned brightly under the light as you stitched up the finale gap in the dress.
“Amor ya no hay leche.” Othello made grabby hands toward the fridge, causing miguel to pull him back before he grabbed the crema for flautas.
“Espérame,” you stood up from the wooden stool handing over the newly finished dress. “Go try this on, and tell me if it comfortable.” You handed your daughter the simple yet puffy dress. “If you need help just tell me.”
Gabriella kissed your cheek muttering a quick thank you before running upstairs to try on her dress.
“Okay,” you turned around to face Miguel. You slid your arm out of the tank top, allowing you click off the strap of your of your bra. “Quien es mi baby precioso de mami,” you tickled othello’s belly making him giggle; his hands scrunched up in the arms excitedly causing Miguel to let out a chuckle.
“You are, yes you are,” gently Miguel placed him in your arms letting you breastfeed him. The soft coo’s of your baby almost made you forget you were still on hold, until faint “hello’s” were heard.
Quickly your husband grabbed the phone, explaining how you were feeding the baby and when the party would be. You tried to hide your laugh as Miguel tried to understand what type of cosmetic terms they were talking about.
“Gracias…. igualmente adiós.” He hung up the phone placing it down on the table. “I have no idea what any of them were talking about.” Miguel huffed out as he placed his hands on his waist.
“Neither did I, can you pass me the toalla please?” Miguel did as told without hesitation placing a soft, yellow toalla over your shoulder.
“We should have another one.”Miguel commented causing you to start coughing on air. Othello tiny fist slapped your chest, trying to tell you to stop moving so much.
“Absolutely not,” you stated firmly, “I don’t think my body can take pushing out another baby.”
“It was just a thought.” Miguel mumbled making you laugh at how kid like he was acting.
You were just about to respond when your daughter yelled out “INTRODUCING LA PRINCESA DE NUEVA YORK, GABRIELLA O’HARA!” And just like that, both you and Miguel turned to see your daughter walk down the stairs in her dress.
She glowed under the lights as she held up the purple fabric in her hands. Gabriella placed the tiara on as well, only causing more tears to fall from your face.
“Guys you promised you weren’t going to cry.” Gabriella giggled as she saw her parents tear up just at the sight of her in the dress. She couldn’t wait to see how you both would react to the full glammed up look.
“You just look so beautiful mijita.” Miguel sniffled as he saw his once little girl finally reach the bottom step of the stairway. “I didn’t imagine time would go this fast.”
“First of all, I did an excellent job on the dress, osea me aventé.”
“Ama,” Gabriella laughed trying to brush off her now teary eyes. It just made her emotional seeing how her parents reacted to the outfit. She was growing up to be a beautiful, radiant, intelligent woman, and they missed the little girl who would ask them to tie her shoes before every soccer game.
“I know sorry, you just look so stunning in your dress mamas and so grown up.” You wiped away the tears before they could fall on to Othello’s face.
“I’m still you guy’s little girl.” She said with a smile reaching out for a group hug. Miguel picked up Othello wiping away the milk from his face and then placing him on his shoulder for a burping. You turned around to place you straps back on before heading towards the rest of the family.
Tears still fell from everyone’s faces, but the once beautiful sad moment was turned into pure laughter after a tiny burp was let out.

womenofmcu 8th year celebration: favorite moments ↳ Molly's Quinceañera | Marvel's Runaways S02 E11 · Last Waltz
As you turn fifteen, one thing is becoming super clear. I didn't just get a sister; I got a hero. Someone who teaches me and inspires me and lifts me up. And I think I speak for all of us when I say, "Molly, thank you so much for being you."

Encanto 2023 Day 11: Liminal
Tonight was the night of Isabela and Dolores’s quinceanera, and since their birthdays were so close, Alma decided to combine them. Not only that it saved the family a lot of time and money, but it also helped in not overwhelming the family in planning two separate parties within a couple weeks from each other.
Isabela and Dolores sat in Isabela’s room together with their pink dresses on and their hair in updos and curls with little diamond barrettes all over their hair. Julieta and Pepa came inside the room to see their daughters sitting on Isabela’s bed together, looking at each other, then at their mothers. They smiled and walked over to them with their clunky dresses and gave them a hug.
“How are you feeling, mijas? You look a little nervous,” Julieta mentioned.
“We’re feeling a little bit nervous. It’s just that we are the first ones of our siblings to have a quinceanera, and although we’re having it together, we still feel like we’re going to make a fool out of ourselves,” Isabela explained.
Julieta and Pepa hugged their daughters once more as they made their way to Isabela’s bed. The mothers put their hands on their daughters’ laps. “It’s okay to feel this way; you never had another family’s quinceanera to be at so you could get a feel of what it was like, and we were the same way when we were your age,” Pepa explained.
Isabela and Dolores looked at their mothers and smiled at them. “Were you just as nervous as we are now?” Dolores asked.
“A little bit, what we do remember was us being in my room together at this very moment, right before the party started,” Julieta explained.
-------------------------------------------------
Julieta and Pepa sat in Julieta’s room together, with their sparkly pink dresses on and their hair done up in their best by the best hairdresser in the Encanto. They sat on Julieta’s bed to gaze in the mirror across the room and appreciate how beautiful they both looked.
“Wow, you look so beautiful,” Pepa said to her sister.
“So do you,” Julieta replied.
“Do you think there might be a possibility we might trip and embarrass ourselves in front of the entire Encanto?”
“Why would you say that?”
“Because this is a big transition for us. I know the whole Encanto has been at all of our birthday parties since our gift ceremony, but this is the first one since then to have this much pressure put on our backs.”
Julieta hugged her sister and Pepa hugged her back. They sighed in unison and looked at themselves in the mirror when they were done. Alma opened the door in the middle of their moment to see her daughters looking at themselves in the mirror and smiling at themselves, twirling in front of the mirror and laughing together, trying to swallow their anxiety the best they possibly could.
“Hola, mijas; the party’s about to start. Are you ready?” Alma asked.
“We are, we’re just a little bit nervous,” Julieta admitted.
“Why are you nervous?”
“Because this is the biggest transition in our lives since our gift ceremony. We’re scared we’re going to embarrass ourselves,” Pepa explained.
Alma came into the room and sat on Julieta’s bed. “You both seem like you’re excited, though. I just saw you twirling around in the mirror a couple seconds ago.”
“We’re excited too; well, nervous and excited. We feel like princesses right now, but we’re also scared because we don’t know how it’s going to go,” Julieta explained.
Julieta and Pepa went back to the bed to hug their mother. “I just wish there was a way to relax ourselves before we go out there,” said Pepa.
“There was this one trick your abuela taught me on my quinceanera when I was your age. It’s been passed on for generations. First, let’s sit on the floor in a little circle,” Alma explained. Julieta and Pepa did as they were told before Alma joined them. “Now, we hold hands, and close our eyes. And we take a deep breath, and squeeze our hand in the circle clockwise. Do you want to try? I’ll start.”
Alma, Julieta, and Pepa held hands and closed their eyes, as Alma said. All three women breathed in simultaneously and held it in. Alma started by squeezing Julieta’s hand, then Julieta squeezed Pepa’s hand, and Pepa squeezed Alma’s hand. The three women let out their breaths simultaneously once Alma received her squeeze.
“Do you feel more relaxed?” Alma asked.
“Si, we feel a little bit more relaxed,” Julieta replied.
“Do you feel like you’re ready to do the ceremonies?”
“Si, we think the quinceanera will be fun,” Pepa added.
Alma hugged her daughters before making her way out of the room. “The party should be starting in ten minutes. I will be in front of the stairwell to start the party.”
Once Alma closed the door, Julieta and Pepa smiled at each other and held their hands. They approached the door and looked at each other once more.
“Are you ready for this?” Julieta asked.
“Absolutamente,” said Pepa.
-----------------------------------------------
“Do you want to do the exercise right now? I’ll start,” Julieta asked.
“Si; I think it will help,” Isabela said.
The four women then sat on Isabela’s floor and held their hands. They closed their eyes and took in a deep breath simultaneously. Julieta started the chain by squeezing Isabela’s hand. Isabela then squeezed Pepa’s hand, Pepa squeezed Dolores’s hand, and Dolores ended the chain by squeezing Juleita’s hand. Once Juleita got her squeeze back, the four women let their held breath out and opened their eyes.
“How do you feel?” Pepa asked.
“We feel so much better. Gracias, mami,” Dolores answered.
Right on time, Alma knocked on Isabela’s door and opened it slightly. “Isabela? Dolores? The party’s going to start in ten minutes. Are you ready?” she asked.
“Si; we’re ready,” Isabela replied.
“Okay, Julieta, Pepa, we’re about to announce the start of the party.”
“Okay, mama, we’re coming,” said Julieta.
Alma, Julieta, and Pepa made their way out of Isabela’s room and closed the door. Isabela and Dolores looked at each other again and smiled before looking straight forward and making their way out the door.
“Do you think we can do this?” Dolores asked.
“Absolutamente,” Isabela validated.
The cousins made their way out the door to see the entire Encanto downstairs talking and chatting with each other before Alma stopped them by making her way up Casita’s stairs and placing herself in the middle so everyone could see. They could see Luisa, Camilo, and Mirabel at the very bottom cheering them on and Felix and Agustin next to Pepa and Julieta waving at them. The cousins squeezed each other’s hands and smiled once more as they made their way to the side of the rails.

- 23 May 2023: For Yang Rubis -
While Sadie practices her sharpshooting. She couldn't help but notice that peculiar girl on the other end of the court. Whose hair highlighted a spark of maroon against her brown hair.
The girl; Yang Rubis, was training with a pair of thick wooden sticks named; the Arnis beating her opponent with ease like a well-choreographed dance. She was, very majestic~
To the beloved Yang Rubis, Happy belated Birthday~ This gift is taken from Pi's own drawing of [Yang and Her Weapons] with her gym outfit changed and color matched with Sadie's. Added with Yang's signature bright jacket/hoodie.

I was feeling ambitious so, I added this cultural dress that young women wear when they come of age in the Philipines. I tried my damnest to research Quinceanera designs/ cuts but decided to mix it up a little by giving it that cool raised collar with an all-green and gold glitter layer/sleeves. Granted I am a little disappointed with myself knowing that it looked nothing like the actual dresses.
This post was a real challenge because the dress requires a light airbrush of dark tones. At the same time, it needs that dimensional bump while also needing to feel like royalty with gold or silver. Nevertheless, I think of it as an achievement and something I want to improve on in future posts.
