She woke up first, her internal clock set to the ass crack of dawn due to years of early morning swim meets. Usually she’d greet an early morning like this with a middle finger and a groan as she buried herself back into the abyss of her covers. But today, she was kind of glad she woke up early.

After all, how often was it that she actually got to see Tomura Shigaraki asleep in her bed?

It was a shame that he had so much trouble sleeping — for a lot of reasons of course — but right now, she couldn’t help but think it was especially tragic due to how cute he looked asleep. The handsome details of his face, that were typically so hidden by his anger — those long lashes, full lips, well-defined jawline, and of course that wonderful little beauty mark — they were glowing now under the soft light slipping through her curtains. He was so at peace, not a furrow in his brow or a frown line in sight. So natural, hugged by her valley of fluffy pillows and blankets. Surrounded by comfort.

She decided to take the risk of moving some of his hair out of his face, those surprisingly soft locks curling delightfully around her fingers. The palm of her hand brushed against the skin of his cheek, awakening her to another discovery. The skin around his cheekbones was actually surprisingly soft, not dry and crusted like she’d always assumed. Just raised from the scarring, from a lifetime of self-abuse.

It was incredible to think about. In just a day, so many of her preconceived notions about Shigaraki — the texture of his skin, the idea that he’d never apologize, the selfishness she so deeply associated with him — it was all proven so incredibly wrong. And it had her realizing just how little she truly knew about Tomura Shigaraki.

And how excited she was to learn.

He stirred awake then, and she found a brand new favorite look on him. His dazed, dreamy expression as he slowly came into consciousness. Eyes fluttering open, lips smacking gently to regain some moisture. A moment of disoriented wonder as he recognized that he wasn’t in his own room. But then a contentedness settled in its place as he realized that he was more than okay with the room that he was in. He happily buried himself back into the bed as he found some still half-asleep comfort in the covers.

She smiled, burying herself back under the covers with him, nuzzling her forehead just inches away from his own.

“Sleep well?”

“Yeah…” he breathed, dreamily.

Then suddenly his eyes snapped wide open, the realization hitting him hard. He shot up to a sit with a speed that made her jump a little.

“Woah! What’s wrong?” she asked, sitting up to meet him.

“What time is it?”

“Huh? Well uh…” she took a quick look at her phone, “Like 6:30?”

He looked down at the covers, at himself in the covers, and really just tried to take that in.

“We… slept through the night?”

She smiled a little sadly at the utter disbelief in his voice. The idea that sleeping through the night was not normal for him.

“Yeah,” she said, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, “Yeah, we did.”

Shigaraki looked back at her, and sobered from his shock quickly as he took something else in from the situation. They’d had sex last night. No, not just sex. If there was such a thing as making love, Shigaraki couldn’t believe it was anything else then what they’d done. They’d shared their feelings (however indirectly). Shared sacred details of their pasts. Held each other close and then fell asleep in each other’s arms. What they’d done together last night was different than anything else before. It was real. It was something they had to talk about.

But that neither was really ready to.

His sense of security and comfort went as soon as it came when he realized that.

God, what the fuck had he done?

The Good Citizen

An AU where Izuku is just an ordinary boy. He never meets All Might and has his application for Yuuei's entrance exam rejected because of his quirkless status. He still wants to be a hero, but then again, he's just a normal kid with a mom who works two jobs, and since he failed to get into his dream school, he still has to get into another one, he doesn't have time. to go to the gym or learn to fight, or whatever. And yet, he wants to be a hero, so he grabs a pair of old skates and a stick. And he sneaks out the window at night, intending to be a vigilante.

But like a normal boy, he's a bit of a coward, so when he encounters his first crime, instead of getting involved, he calls the police. He calls the police and hides and is delighted when a police car arrives a few minutes later and does its job. And then he repeats that, goes out, finds a crime and calls the police. And repeat. And the next time, he identifies himself as "Good Citizen" when the person on the line recognizes his voice. And the name sticks. And Izuku keeps it, thinking of it as a way to keep his identity safe. But one day, 'The Good Citizen' calls the police on a group of men beating up a guy. And next he stops a man from harassing a girl.

The mens who beat the guy are part of a powerfull gang and their high-rankers discovers that the person who reported them was the same person who has been making several reports. The old man who harassed the girl was an important member of the HPSC, whose arrest creates a huge scandal

With this he successfully angers the villains and the HPSC all at once. Next week there's a bounty on 'snitch's head. And an arrest warrant for the vigilante who is 'an enemy in the making for the society of heroes'.

Then a race begins, villains and heroes mobilizing to kill/arrest one (1) well-intentioned green bean.

And, out of nowhere, this all becomes Aizawa Fucking Shota's problem.

fic idea I'll never write because it has too many fight scenes and I'm bad at those soooooo

quirkless Izuku Midoriya in the support class, approaching every hero student before the sports festival, offering his skills as a quirk analyst to help them prepare, starting everyone off with a free sample of advice to entice them into the deal

with a caveat

he is going to be fighting in the sports festival too, so if they agree to let him coach them, they will be giving him a leg up on them as he will know all their strengths and weaknesses, but coaching them in private means that none of the other students will be aware of their new moves

his talent as an analyst and strategist are already well known at the school, to the point that teachers sometimes even consult him, and he takes tea with Nedzu twice a week, he's scary smart

but he's quirkless,

the hero students think giving him an advantage is just going to even the playing field right? it's only fair to give him a fighting chance, some students agree just for that reason alone, he's so passionate, it would be such a shame to see him crash and burn right at the start

they mean well, they truly do

there are only two and half hero students who don't take him up on his offer

one being Bakugo, because Midoriya knew better than to even bother offering, partly due to his pride and ego, partly because Midoriya was already extremely familiar with Bakugo's quirk, but also because Bakugo knows damn well it's a fool's deal and he's already told off everyone in his class for being dumb enough to accept it

one being Monoma, who took one look at the situation at hand and laughed in Midoriya's face, surprisingly this wasn't due to any amount of pride, quite the opposite, Monoma did not underestimate him for being quirkless, as someone who had to spend half his time fighting quirkless himself he was well aware that Midoriya was just as much a threat as everyone else and Monoma would treat him as such

the half being Todoroki, who in the process of taking Midoriya's advice on how to exert more fine control over his ice, and then realising he's doing the same for almost every other student in his class, realised exactly how much of a threat this quirkless boy actually imposed, and then realised that if he wanted to have any chance of taking him unawares he might be forced to use his fire, as it's the only part of his quirk Midoriya had absolutely zero knowledge of, in fact it was one of the few quirks left in the whole hero course that Midoriya had no knowledge of

at the sports festival Midoriya shows up carrying several cases of support gear, he's been cleared by the teachers to be allowed one support item in each match on the condition that it was made by a support student in his yeargroup and that he was at least somewhat involved in its design and creation (powerloader was in charge of observing this process to ensure he met the guidelines and grew a few new grey hairs because of course their most terrifying analyst teamed up with his most terrifying engineer)

Midoriya chooses not to use any of his support gear in the team challenges, he wants to show that he belongs here on his own merits, to prove that he can make it using nothing but his own hard work and ingenuity

it's the one on one fights he utilises his support gear

Midoriya calculated which students were most likely to make it into the 1v1 rounds and prepared a customised support item to fight each of them, taking full advantage of every weakness he'd unearthed during his coaching sessions

he doesn't use any gear in his fight with Shinsou however, he wasn't from the hero course so Midoriya didn't offer to train him (Shinsou had as much to prove as Midoriya did and he had no intentions of getting in the way of that, and Shinsou would have turned him down regardless) but he had a vague enough idea of what his quirk was so their fight would essentially be nothing more than a quirkless brawl

it's a close call but where Shinsou's attention was split between fighting and trying to get a reaction from his shit talking, Midoriya was focused 100% on nothing but the fight, despite it being easy low hanging fruit Shinsou never uses Midoriya's quirklessness to bait him into responding, not wanting to stoop that low

his fight with Todoroki is intense, but with heat based support gear he's able to get through Todoroki's defences

Midoriya didn't get the Todoroki Family Traumadump in this universe so instead of a 'your quirk not his' speech we get a 'don't hold back on me they will jump at any opportunity to blame my success on someone else because I'm quirkless, I want everyone to know I won because I worked the hardest for it' speech

Todoroki ends up backed into a corner and forced to use his fire, unfortunately for him Midoriya was not only prepared to go up against his fire, he also built an entire strategy around Todoroki's poor control over it, it's close but in the end he's able to manoeuvre Todoroki out of bounds by using the fire to obscure the boundary line, and he wins the fight

Midoriya ends up facing Bakugo in the final round, to start with Bakugo is absolutely fuming at the fact that Midoriya made it this far, he is even extra pissed off when Midoriya states the only support gear he'll be using in this fight is leg gear to help him manoeuvre around, not even using an offensive weapon

Midoriya uses every little piece of knowledge he has on Bakugo to predict his movements and attacks, but Bakugo had been training privately specifically to avoid Midoriya seeing his progress (as much as he shit talked Midoriya for being quirkless he knew damn well that he was a genuine threat, even if he wouldn't admit it), but Bakugo had never seen Midoriya fight before today, with no edge over him strategically other than what he had learned from watching the previous fights, which helped little due to Midoriya's fighting style shifting with each opponent

it's a brutal, long drawn out battle, but Midoriya's close familiarity with Bakugo's quirk gives him an advantage Bakugo just can't catch up with, Midoriya mostly uses Bakugo's own quirk against him, eventually baiting him into pulling off a bigger than necessary blast with enough kickback to throw him in the air and then takes advantage of the uncontrolled momentum to throw him out of bounds, taking a risk and falling close to losing his own footing on the boundary line in the process

Midoriya wins the sports festival by a hair, securing a future seat into the hero course

Bakugo is actually really humbled by the experience, he has to go through a whole process of rebooting his brain to figure out how to feel about the whole thing, he wants to be pissed off but Midoriya had fought him with every ounce of strength and tenacity he had, it was more of a challenge than any of his own classmates had given him, he'd done everything in his power to beat this kid down their whole lives and instead Midoriya had taken that and turned it into fuel to prove him and everyone else wrong

Bakugo stops calling him Deku after that, saying the name just doesn't suit him anymore, Midoriya says that it never suited him, but it's nice that Bakugo is finally catching on

when Midoriya is eventually moved into the class, a couple of the students are a little pissed about the underhanded way he went about the whole thing, feeling as though he had kinda misled them and taken advantage of them trying to be nice to him by giving him an extra edge in the competition

Midoriya points out that he had been very transparent from the start, and that if they had taken him seriously and respected him as an opponent then they never would have taken his deal in the first place, he wasn't taking advantage of their kindness, he was taking advantage of their quirk bias

Aizawa backs Midoriya up by stating that Midoriya had actually cleared this strategy with the teachers to ensure it wasn't breaking any rules, and he was exceptionally disappointed that a majority of his class had fallen for the bait, and that they should take this as a lesson in not underestimating their opponents regardless of their quirks

Midoriya and Bakugo end up working together for more cohesively and make a terrifying duo, eventually even going with matching themed hero names Arsenall and Dynamight (lifting DIRECTLY from this tiktok because it's absolutely fucking genius, except in this universe the name is in reference to the vast variety of support gear he uses rather than the multiple quirks he has)

anyway I made this whole thing as a side effect of an idea where canon Midoriya gets hit by a quirk that pulls alternate timeline versions of himself into his world and Arsenall was one of them, there was also a guerilla journalist/vigilante Midoriya called Rabbit who I might also make a post of because I actually had the outline of an entire fic about him mentally noted down at one point so he is way more fleshed out

the other two versions didn't have super fleshed out stories but mostly because one was just quirkless Midoriya if he joined the support class but didn't enter the sports festival, and the other was villain Midoriya who is already basically an existing fanon character so I didn't feel the need to flesh him out so much

Complicated Creation by Elemental

Anyone who hasn't read this, probably should immediately. I re-read this around four times a year, so I've lost track of the amount of times I've re-read it in total.

Truly visionary ideas about quirks, that creates a brilliant new perspective on evolution and society within BNHA. This is an AU, the story does not follow the plot of BNHA.

Pacing, story, and character development is creative and extremely well-written. I love the dynamic between Izuku and Aizawa.

As usual when I absolutely adore a fic, I wish there was a sequel or something, but this was beautifully well crafted, so the story does conclude nicely.

“Wouldn’t mind seeing this Midoriya for myself,” Shōta presses on undeterred. “Yes,” Sansa hisses triumphantly. “You planned this, you traitor,” Tsukauchi rounds on Sansa for a split second before he turns back towards Shōta, face carved from resolute stone. “And as for you meeting Midoriya? Absolutely not. I forbid it. He’s a menace with a RAP sheet longer than you are tall and you’re also a menace who enjoys chaos more than you’ll ever admit outright. The two of you meeting has Bad Idea™ written all over it in lights. Mainly for me.” Shōta just stares at him, deeply unimpressed.

A fic where both characters are feral gremlins and absolutely perfect for each other. Izuku never went to UA, and as an adult he has been arrested many many times (for all the right reasons). And one of these times, Shouta is at the precinct talking to Tsukauchi and he gets *curious*, to Tsukauchi's horror.

Super funny story. Izuku is a Menace and feral and confident and amazing. And Shouta is loving everything about him.

What was she doing? No seriously, what the hell was she doing?

That’s all she could think as she paced anxiously in her living room. She hadn’t even planned on calling Shigaraki, her fingers had just moved before her brain could. She’d been so worried about leaving him hanging the way she had at the arcade, that he was going to do something drastic, she knew she needed to get back to him as soon as possible. That action, she didn’t kick herself too much for.

But then he had texted her.

She should’ve corrected him. Told him to meet her at a restaurant or a train station or a diner. Wait, yeah! A diner! That’s what she’d told him earlier, they’d go to a diner! A public, safe place that would pose a much lower risk of clothes being lost (although, not a zero chance, she admitted bitterly as she remembered one of their last serious talks over dinner).

But no, she’d been too preoccupied trying to work out what to say, that when she’d finally gotten her head put on straight, about fifteen minutes later, she’d found a new reason to lose it. Tomura Shigaraki was going to be in her house, in the middle of the night, when her parents weren’t home.

Nevermind the rather important question regarding how exactly he knew her address already, just what expectation was she setting with that?! Especially right after telling him that she and Mirio broke up. There’s no way Tomura Shigaraki of all people was coming over with anything other than sex on the brain.

All of the fully rehearsed words she’d had suddenly didn’t feel sufficient anymore. This was way more serious than she was ready for. It was all happening way too fast. She didn’t even know what she wanted. She hadn’t even had the courage to fully admit to herself that she had very serious feelings for him, didn’t even know if she wanted to date him, so just what the hell was she supposed to say now in her house?!

Her heart just about beat out of her chest when the doorbell rang. That terrible cheerful little jingle that signaled the demise of her self-control. What was going to happen when she opened that door? How could she stop whatever he tried to make happen?

Especially when it was something she deep down really wanted to happen.

Luckily, she didn’t have to think of a solution. Because when she opened the door, she did not find Tomura Shigaraki holding flowers or video games or ready to sweep her off her feet (and into her bed). She saw him instead, hunched over panting, soaked to the bone, and not wearing shoes.

“O-Oh my god!” she practically shrieked.

“I didn’t bring anything,” was all he managed to say through heaving breaths.

As if she would’ve expected him to bring a home gift under normal circumstances, let alone when he was hunched over and dripping onto her welcome mat.

She huffed in confused exasperation and pulled him into the house by the front of his sopping wet shirt, “Get in here right now!”

“W-Wow. It’s warm…” he muttered, looking around the living room in a daze as she closed the front door behind him.

“Yeah, I’m sure!” she snapped, “What happened to you?!”

“You said you wanted to talk in person.”

“So what, you ran all the way from Roppongi?!” she demanded.

He looked away, a blush dusting his cheeks, “I took the train too…”

She shook her head in disbelief, “You’re not even wearing shoes…”

Before he could say anything more, embarrassing himself further, she pressed a hot hand to his neck with a quickness that had him shuttering out a sigh. But she didn’t notice what she was doing to him.

(She never truly did, did she?)

“Oh my God, you’re freezing!” she grabbed his shirt suddenly again, this time pulling it straight up over his head, “Take these off— take them off now!”

It all happened too fast for either of them to really process or be embarrassed about. She peeled his clothes off piece by piece, all while shoving him frantically down the ever-warmening hallway of her home. At some point he blinked and found himself stripped down completely and standing alone in the middle of her bathroom, fluffy beige towel in hand.

Shigaraki blinked as he finally had a coherent thought for what seemed like the first time in the last five hours. That thought being that when he’d pictured himself naked in her house, this is not the way he’d thought it’d go.

He looked around the room, still in a bit of a daze. It was a typical Japanese bathroom, a nice one, he supposed, with its auto-filling tub and real tile, notably not laminate. But it was cozy (the nice way of saying small) and the only one for the whole household. The whole house seemed to be that way, from the quick glimpse he saw of it all. Simple, modest, warm. Quite a difference from his own luxurious and picture-perfect, but admittedly cold household.

It surprised him a bit, the modest part. Though maybe it shouldn’t have. The more he learned about her and her family, the clearer it was that maybe she wasn’t as overtly privileged as he’d once assumed, as he was used to. Sure her family was comfortable, but there was a much wider gap between them, the family that packed onigiri and Don Quixote-purchased lawn chairs for swim meets, and he who had a Kurogiri at his every beck and call.

By the time he got to running his fingers along her slew of floral body washes and shampoos, he couldn’t help but shake his head and laugh over the situation. The ridiculousness of it all. How panicked he’d been, how undoubtedly panicked she’d been waiting for him. How all of it seemed to go instantly out the window the moment she saw him and had something all new to worry over. No, not just something. Someone. Him. Him and his well-being.

Well wasn’t that something new.

BNHA AU Idea: Getting what you're due often means you have to lie a little bit.

TL;DR: Izuku can't get into UA without a registered quirk. This is a much simpler problem to fix than he'd let himself think about. A little breaking and entering is fine if its for a good cause - right?

Izuku is in his second last year of middle school when he is attacked by the sludge villain. Endeavor is the hero to save him - burns the sludge until it bubbles and boils and Izuku is so hot he feels like hes dying but growing up around Kacchan has made him good at keeping his mouth shut while he burns - and the villain releases him, unconscious due to the pain.

He asks. "Could I be a hero? Even without a quirk?" He knew the answer before he received it, before Endeavour said a word. It was the malice in his eyes that gave it away.

"Quirkless?" He spat, cold fury and grief tangled up in a way Izuku could only read as anger. "You'd be lucky to get a job picking up trash."

Izuku's heart broke, like usual. A practised kind of heartbreak, one that happens the same way over and over until its not really breaking anymore, because it never healed.

At least the next day, Bakugo corners him, throws the first punch with sparks dancing across his knuckles and Izuku is just Done. He and his mother had been attending self defense classes since Izuku turned four - since his father left, since their family became a quirkless child and a pretty young mother in a rough neighbourhood. Izuku is tired and he is angry and he punches back.

It devolves into a violent scuffle, biting and yelling, both boys furious with the other, beyond words. It ends with them both slumped on the ground, heaving for breath through bloodied noses. When the teacher comes around the corner looking shocked and then angry, Izuku is ready to be expelled. Kacchan doesn't have to say a word for it all to be blamed on him.

"Some fuckin-" Kacchan coughs, choking a little on the blood running down his throat. he coughs, looking disgusted as pink spittle stains his sleeves. "Some fuckin creep was on school grounds. He's gone now."

Izuku was silent, wide eyed, as Kacchan refused to look at him, as the teacher fussed over him for getting in Bakugo's way, but that it was still nice of him to help his friend, but that they should both really get a teacher next time. They didn't question his story. Why would they? Kacchan was their golden child.

"If you weren't quirkless." Kacchan muttered as he left the nurse's office. "You could have been worth a damn."

If he wasn't quirkless.

Well. He could fix that. On paper, anyway.

Ok so! Quirkless kids cant apply to UA. But its worded weirdly - as 'those marked medically quirkless on their files can not apply to UA. So if he gets in, but the letter of the law, he's fine. He just cant be medically quirkless on record.

The only student at aldera with a shot at UA is bakugo. He's the only one who put in the work, and had the inclination. Izuku thinks that maybe - maybe - he might not sell him out. Might let him apply, might keep his mouth shut.

Izuku's ability with computers isn't good enough to hack. Hes pretty sure hacking doesn't even really work like that, and there is no way for him to learn how hacking works in like 2 years - at least well enough to get into a high security government database.

The easiest option would be a pediatricians office - they have the ability to update quirk records. But they show as updated, not original. A quirkless kid gaining a quirk at 13? One he can't show off on command? Very dicey.

The main server for the records is kept at the HPSC offices - they actually advertise it, which. Izuku thinks is pretty silly.

So - how does he get in? His simplest option is also his riskiest - just walk in an hope no one asks any questions. Possible, but the risk is just way too high. So, plan too - have a Reason to be in there.

They could probably use an analyst, right?

Izuku has a fake idenity he was hired through - same name but the son of an I-Island scientist. I-Island will not release their records to any government unless there is a criminal case so Izuku's pretty good there. He did need a personal reference but one of his online friends is a quirkless girl who lives on I-Island, she gets her dad to do it. Izuku is very grateful - she just asks that she get to be his support tech. Izuku cries, just a little.

Izuku keeps working there even after he's at UA, his mum is now in on the plan. She never actually married Hisashi so there are no records contradicting Izuku ab his 'dad'

1A still becoming convinced All Might is his dad, but this time is small might.

All Might considers asking Izuku to become his successor but when asked if he wished he had a quirk, Izuku said 'not any more. im doing good like this, i think'

He topples the whole commission in second year.

Hear me out - quirks influence their user's appearance, right? even non-mutation ones. Like with Bakugou, the Todorokis, Kaminari, even Sero. So the quirkless' appearance wouldn't be related to a quirk, right?

So Izuku, a quirkless boy given a quirk that (at first) isn't his - what if his body changed with it, ever so discreetly?

I'm just thinking of the small horror of looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing yourself change - whether itd be your eyes lightening, your pupils whitening, your hair's hues shifting. And you know maybe Izuku would be fine with it because All Might would have told him because All Might would know, but what about Inko? Seeing her child change and not knowing why and feeling like she's going insane because Izuku doesn't seem to really care or worry at all? Or Katsuki? Who has to see Izuku change in the most concrete ways - or (god forbid) Izuku's dad, coming back from wherever and seeing his son so changed, but it's been so long - maybe he just never noticed. how neglectful must he be.
