has anyone seen this tech pseudo-fascist (yet proclaims to be liberal) family that's trying to promote a repackaged version of the quiverfull movement??
I've been down a serious rabbit hole the last few days and am completely baffled. We need a term for repackaged Christian fundamentalism sans the Christianity, I guess.

Esther's Instagram (@blessed.mommy):
Eden is now Mrs Eden Bellamy! It was a beautiful service and the young couple is looking forward to starting their lives together. I'm so glad that most of my children have found beautiful, Godly, loving relationships, but it sure is sad as I get closer to being an empty nester! However, we all have to enter new seasons of life at some stage, and I am loving being Grandma -- I hope Eden and Morgan give me many more grandbabies! Tobias is my last child at home, and I am praying that, God-willing, he finds joyful companionship in a wife if he desires. Many happy prayers for the newlyweds!
a/n: last post in two weeks cuz my queue has ran out!

Having been in an evangelical cult, I can tell you that even if the public-facing conservative that the soundbite-of-the-week is coming from is not practicing extreme christian fundamentalism themselves, they at least appreciate & admire those who do.
Maybe even aspire to it.
It's just that for themselves personally, that lifestyle is "too hard" to live in practice on a daily basis.
I know this because people who believe this way used to approach my husband (no, not me, never me; being the wife/mother who actually keeps up these appearance on a daily basis is not to be admired) to let him know they appreciate that the AFAB people in the brood only wear skirts & do not cut their hair, that he had his "quiver full", that we "lived the life" so visibly.
They appreciate this because they benefit from people living this way in many ways - they get blind devotion & financial support from this demographic, as well as their loyal votes.
Plus them having broods of many children means they're raising and indoctrinating the next generation of loyal supporters in greater numbers than the loyal supporters of the other side.
It's win-win-win for mainstream conservatives. What reason would there be to change?

The Next Generation of Fundamentalists
Does anyone ever feel like the fundamentalists are “winning?” I’ve seen a lot of casual remarks online that outdated beliefs will fade with time. But within my own life I’ve seen a lot of evidence that fundamentalism will continue to be a heavy presence in the world into the next few generations.  My own family has managed to retain almost all of my siblings into their own version of…

My mother was heavily involved in the Church. She sang on the worship team, she volunteered for VBS, Sunday School, and Youth Group, she helped run an Inner-Healing ministry (fancy Christian counseling), and was praised for her obvious commitment to Christ.
She also regularly abused her husband and all 9 of her children.
So no, I don’t think Christians are inherently moral.

So, how many children you have does define if you are a good christian? I heard many times that fundies don't think like that but we have it on paper now....

Does anyone else know how to stop making themselves small and pleasing for men? I’ve mostly managed to stop the conscious decisions, but the subconscious stuff I can’t seem to stop.
When I’m in a relationship with a man I can’t help but stop growing as a person, softening my opinions and beliefs, softening my voice and altering my appearance to be desirable. And it’s subconscious, I didn’t even realize what I was doing until much later. But it’s not even just guys I’m dating, I give all males I care about way more sway over me than I want.
How do I stop?

Roe vs. Wade and the Quiverfull Movement
***Trigger warning: Christian Fundamentalism, sexual assault, Wicca, mental illness, religion*** The first time I was ever committed to a psyche ward due to my schitzoaffective (bi-polar type), I took comfort in reading some of the Psalms, even though I am not a Christian. Despite the fact that I don’t believe in the Bible, it still has some words of wisdom that have helped me realize my real…

Shiny Happy People Podcast
I’m happy to share that my spouse, Andrew, myself and our friend Jeff are hosting a podcast review of each episode of the new Prime Duggar documentary Shiny Happy People. The documentary was released on Amazon Friday, June 2, 2023, and is a four-part series looking into not only the Duggar family, but the underlying theology of their show and the influence of conservative, Christian leaders such…

Where to begin with this week’s post. Firstly, I am so grateful to @backsliddenharlot for this book. For her exposure of these programmes and practices and abuse and neglect. I am also extremely thankful for her time in coming to talk about these experiences with me for episode 172 and for allowing me to feature her book - as pictured here - as this month’s memoir giveaway. Our conversation took place before we knew that ATI had seemingly stopped existing in the ways Heather experienced during her childhood. It also took place before the Roe V Wade leak made its way to the public. Today is Mother’s Day in some parts of the world. And the title of Mother is a precious one. It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had but it’s also the best. However, parenthood isn’t for everyone. Whether through choice or through impossibility. How can this be respected during the current political and somewhat unethical climate? Without taking into consideration what this means for those encouraged to create their own quiverfull. Or those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Or those who suffer with extreme issues pre-during-and-post pregnancy. Heather’s book is a testament to all that we should watch out for. For all that we should be wary of. For all that has happened to hundreds and thousands of innocent and vulnerable people and what will continue to happen if we don’t realise that this is only the beginning. I liked the Handsmaid’s Tale as a fictional book. But perhaps Margaret Atwood was onto something. Because her writing and themes that lead up to the establishment of Gilead sound similar to today’s headlines. Think. People. And read books like this to understand it all so much more!! Thank you @backsliddenharlot for everything. You’re a force of nature and I’m glad to be standing with you. ❤️ #ati #iblp #billgothard #exfundie #quiverfull #roevswade #nifb #ifb #educationalneglect #educationneglect #cult #cults #cultawareness #cultsurvivors #cultsurvivor #cultleader #podcasthost #podcasthosts #womensrights #womensrightsarehumanrights #equalrightsforall #lovinglyabused #monthlymemoir #memoir #memoirwriting #memoirsofmotherhood #memoirs #bookgiveaway https://www.instagram.com/p/CdTrCbpoCKY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

These accusations of being “prudish” or “sex-repulsed” will only last as long as I don’t have children. I’ve accepted that the moment my critics are aware I have one (1, the number before two) child, they’ll call me “quiverfull” or something.
