Why do I still miss you after all this time? Why does it hurt so much that you didn't care?

“ if pain must come , may it come quickly. Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible. If it has to make a choice may he make it now, then I will either wait for him or forget him. Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful . But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering.”
Paulo Coelho in By the River Piedra I say Down & Wept

Let us remember that, as we navigate through life collectively, others might be facing challenging times. Let's practice gentleness and compassion, not only toward the world around us but also towards ourselves. We are all interconnected on this beautiful planet, and it embraces us all with love, unconditionally.

I've tried to block out this familiar voice before..
The same sound I longed to banish and forget.
But alas, it has found it's way back and pierced right through my skull and now resides in my head yet again.
There's no escape this time.. is there?

THE ART OF SADNESS
Sadness lingers. All the time. No matter how much you try to shake it off, it creeps up on you and in the quiet moments, when you are not looking, it overwhelms you. On dark winter days, it surrounds you more than on warm summer days. It feels like the whole world is on your shoulders and your bones ache under all the weight. And as you grow older, you swallow your sadness. You pretend it's not there, you convince yourself that you're fine and that you don't have any reason to be sad. But it lingers. All the time. And then there comes a day, when you have everything you ever wanted. But you come home in the evening and even with the candles burning and the flowers blooming, you still don't really feel at home. You miss the soft and easy days when you were younger. You miss the carelessness and the joy and the laughter. And you laugh now too and you find happiness in a stranger's smile and a cup of hot coffee and a good book. But you realised, that the only person that can save you, is yourself. When you grow up, you think someone will come to save you. Someone will come and take all the pain away, all the heaviness, but no one ever does. And the world scares you sometimes, its vastness does, but you try not to be scared and you try to hold on to all the good moments. And through it all, through the storm and the heartbreak, you find yourself, you stumble and fall but you get up again because you want to be better. For yourself, for the person you are becoming. The sadness still lingers. All the time. It wraps itself around you like a soft blanket and it will never really leave you. You find comfort in it, it becomes a part of you somehow. It lingers. All the time.

Yes, there is grace in the absence of poetry. For even exhales and sighs are emotions worth scribbling too. I want to give myself a kind of permission to be a poet, even when there is a terrifying distance.

Glimmer
In the depths of a broken heart, pain lingered like a relentless shadow. Its grip tightened with each passing moment, a constant reminder of past wounds. Yet, amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged, for pain also held the key to healing and growth. As time flowed onward, the scars of pain became a testament to strength and resilience, shaping a story of triumph over adversity. And in the end, the once unbearable pain transformed into a source of wisdom, guiding the way to a brighter tomorrow.
