Hello, dear friends and accociates.
My name is whatever you want to call me, my pronouns rotting in hell next to my will to live. Refer to me however you will. I'm suuuper gay(asexual panromantic). I'm also an artist. Any scorn or prejudice will be promptly ignored.
Status:
i sure cant talk but damn if i can use a keyboard.
About me:
I am a huge CH&T and WTNV fan. I also have a bunch of OCs, and I'm writing so many (unfinished)books... Yeah, that's right. I like to suffer and die creatively TWICE!! I can not be helped. I'm just goofy like that sometimes. I hate most non canon ships for fandoms im in, but I'll probably just go "ew" and leave you alone(depends on the ship, really). I haven't been tested for autism or ADHD but enough things line up, so I'm like 80% sure. The 20% is self-doubt. I like to dress fancy, and my general look is deep woods cottagecore that has recently drank from the lake of maximalism. You won't see pictures of me, probably, because my room is NOT clean. Sometimes, I vent on here, but that's because I am the only demographic this blog needs. I love you, too, but your feelings are only being considered a little bit.
Those Days:
I'm gonna be making a comic called Those Days about a small town old gay couple, Scott and Rodney, telling their life's story. They've been friends since their sophomore year in high school, and they've seen a lot. Scott was a punk, to say the least.
Update: I've realized that this might just need a longer development phase to work. I need to really hone in on designs and a color pallette that doesn't suck.
Current Fixations:
Camp Here and There (Waiting for S2)
Welcome to Night Vale (all caught up)
Words (words as in i fucking love vocabulary and old phrases and the developement of english over the years is facinating)
Night in the Woods (I've finished the game twice, also this is why I know what's wrong with me now.)
Gravity Falls (quote on the daily)
The Magnus Archives (mag 93 and CAT!!!!!)
Additions:
I love interaction! I will always discuss my interests, and l o r e when asked. In other words, PLEASE TALK TO ME !!!
Therefore:
Art Requests/Asks: Open!!
Art Trades: Open!!

ok so. basically i think both abby and cecil were born before 1983 and their mom was an encarnation of huntokar (their dad might be an encarnation of the smiling god or just some dude that worships him, eitger way) but in 1983 huntokar accidentally harmed her conection to night vale, and from this point on the childrens mom started acting distant/not acknowledging either bc her mind was "on another plane" or mourning cecil that died on at least 1 version of 1983
so its taken me forever to respond to this, a. Bc ive written so much abt it before and i think it was better than i wrote here, and b. bc i was searching for posts neck deep in my archives to help explain but only found some
post 1 — comparing 171 and 192 quotes
post 2 — about episode 183– more general theories
(i had a post somewhere where i verbally vomited into the tags abt night vale being a post war landscape trapped in time but i can find it)
okay now that those r out of the way im gonna ramble a lot and its not gonna make sense probably bc im a little drunk on topo chicos
cecil exsists (i think as a radio host too) in every timeline/reality. i remember this being said but i cant give an episode number bc i dont remember where. he is always reporting and he is referred to as the voice of night vale.
we know that night vale was split off from reality in 1983 when the world had a nuclear war by huntokar. huntokar “ existed in the mudwomb” she wanted to “protect and nurture humans” and ”became attatched to her version of night vale so she saved it causing all version of it to collapse inward on itself“ — quotes from the fan wiki (i mention the mudwomb bc in 192 cecil sees either himself or his dad climbing out of the mud at the base of a tree)
my theory is that night vale was saved and chosen as a favorite by huntokar bc she became more human by loving cecil as her child. There is a whole monologue in that episode (stone spire arc or huntokar episode i think) about how the humans of night vale forgot why they worshipped and wore meat crowns and what it meant to worship gods, but huntokar also mentions she loses sight of what she is (i think it was implied if not said) and she became too attached to the humans and the town (Thus why she saves Night vale)
i think cecil is a god who has forgotten what he is— he knows events before they happen or as they happen, he is intertwined in Every Major Event, he knew when the other gods were coming, and he is immortal. he knew old woman josie as a young adult and i assume he looks 40-50 bc thats what carlos’ age is around. he is an oracle. he says his mother was an oracle (figurative or literal) he doesnt know his father (a common theme in myths abt gods and demi gods) etc. AND the knly way the town gets to hear Huntokar and her story is through the radio. Cecil was around before the invention of it (mentioned during his europe trip i think)
i think his love of science and night vales affinity for science is a replacement for religion to explain why things are the way they are. science is essentially night vales belief system. (This post explains this more)
cecil cant look at himself in a mirror bc of a monster he sees— but i also think its bc he is a literal god he cannot look upon himself in a mirror (there is a lot of judaism themes in wtnv, one of the writers is jewish after all, and i believe that that is done purposefully. cecil’s v existence, to me, feels like hes caught in in a never ending shiva)
Tumblr media
(From this wiki article abt shiva)
do u get the connections im making? Especially with the paragraph on mirrors and judaism?
i think it makes sense that she is his mom if u pick up what im puttin down idk ! Idk idk its just fun to theorize and analyze haha

Waxing poetic idea: virtuosity
First of all, what a concept for a waxing poetic, we love the pun, we love it all. Second of all, I have no idea just how long this has been sitting in my inbox, but better late than never, I suppose!
When I think virtuosity I generally think about music, so for the purposes of this post, I am going to focus on how Virtue and Moir are masters of musicality, as I can make a separate post about their general talent and skating skills.
I truly believe that Tessa and Scott were (and continue to be) the most musically inclined ice dance team ever. It’s nothing new, but Paul MacIntosh their old coach has spoken before saying there as just something natural about them and their ear for music, Tracy Wilson commented on them  as juniors and early in senior as a team that really listened to their music and that they used their edges and knee bend to match the rhythm of the dance, etc. It was obvious that this team just had a certain ability and flow that went above and beyond what had been previously seen in the sport.
They were ice dancing to music, not figure skating to background noise.
There was always an impression that music meant a lot to them, and the emotional connection they felt to music was very important, the program they hated the most (Malaguena) was because they didn’t chose it themselves, and the program they had the most trouble with emotionally (The Seasons) was because they also couldn’t form a connection and tried to force something. The stunning thing about Tessa and Scott’s skating is that nothing ever looks forced, it all seems to be placed and done to maximize their ability, the music, and the art of figure skating. So, cmplpete with hyperlinks as well as gif credit, lets get into it.
I say that Valse Triste is one of my favourite free dance of theirs, but I don’t think people get just how much. In terms of how much a song can be elevated by movement, VM did everything correct with Vale Triste.
Tumblr media
This perfect moment in the beginning where the music is drawn out and sweeping and so their movements match perfectly, I just love the ina bauer moment right on that first long violin sound, followed by Tessa’s nice deep long edge and then another sweeping movement. Also, the last lift directly on the crescendo of the music, when Tessa raises her hands into the air when the silence holds, and then again, that lovely piece of silence  while Tessa is balancing on Scott and his squat. Then the last moment with Scott’s arms and the violin again... All of this matches the music so well, it very much feels like they had this choreographed already, and then Jean Sibelius wrote Valse Triste for them. So stunning.
Tumblr media
Umbrellas of Cherbourg was just a piece of mastery in terms of hitting musical highlights. The first lift was so effective, all the of the step sequences were musical and lilting and joyous. I also love the moment in this gif, the abandon in their movements echoes the abandon in the song as Catherine Deneuve sings “je ne peux pas, je ne peux pas” and it really does feel like they can’t help but move this way. I don’t need to understand French to feel it, they made the movement match the music so well that it becomes universal. Special shout out to the fucking stunning backwards inside edge they both hit as they go around the corner. *chefs kiss*
Tumblr media
What I also love about their virtuosity and their musicality is that they never really settled. They picked a very difficult piece of music for the Olympic year because it was the only music they felt any connection with. It was a hard program because they really took time to highlight the music, and the accents are quick and staccato. What’s stunning, is that I think anyone who watches/knows vm can perfectly hear the music that should be playing over the gif, and nothing else COULD be playing. So often, especially recently, I watch  ice dance programs if feels like any generic music could be on and it wouldn’t change much. Tessa and Scott could never. Every movement and every moment is deliberate and on theme.
Tumblr media
Tessa and Scott’s dance holds are a literal thing of beauty and should be studied. That doesn’t have much to do with what I am writing about currently, but I thought it needed to be said. Nights and Days is an all time favourite programs. We love a wango. I love the opening especially and how they go from a nice easy arm movement to two quick poses, then Tessa’s moment with that leg and giving that face, that hit the opening notes so well, only to have the music really begin with their leg kicks.
Let’s talk about how a waltz goes counterclock wise on a dance floor and is quick-quick-slow and Tessa and Scott started their program going counter clock wise around the rink, and having their movement begin slow-quick quick, slow-quick quick...because I’m never not thinking about it
There are so many moments in their free dance to Hip Hip Chin Chin that I desperately love and that I have yet to see gifs of it. Besides the stellar and iconic opening footwork, the coolest twizzles (accenting the drums with their transition into each twizzle), and some very cool lifts (I mean, hello temptation lift), I love the step sequences and the transitions in this program so much. Some favs include:
Tessa’s booty pop to the drums and her arm on “rhythm”
Tossing Scott and a literal hip hip chin chin
Hitting twizzles and free legs on beat
Tessa just in this moment and her arms
The “I can’t resist” moment and the silence as they just pull in on beat, throw their hand up on beat, and hug on the ice sensually
That little kick they do in the step sequence right on the double beat
Anyway, that program is a fucking wonder and the fact they only did it once fully in competition is a small tragedy.
Tumblr media
Tessa’s twizzle from the Waltz goes on right on that stunning lick of effervescent music lives rent free in my head and will until I die.
Tumblr media
As does the extension and flair Tessa gets in this one small hand and arm movement. More character in this tiny little one second gif of carmen than in the entirety of Davis and White’s Notre-Damn that year, quote me.
Carmen, in and of itself, is so fascinating and intricate from a music standpoint, they hit all the moments so well. Tessa’s second leap into the air on the curve lift, the ending pose for the  twizzles, that rad as hell and incredibly difficult transition where Scott all but throws Tessa face first into the ice and she lands in a sort of lunge that took all season to perfect. I could go on.
Tumblr media
I truly am, one day, going to make a post about Dream a Little Dream and how it is the best short dance program ever performed. In terms of virtuosity it is unmatched. Again, it is that type of program where you can so easily hear the music playing the background because everything just...fits. I can hear Ella crooning “stars shining bright aboooove you” as Tessa rounds around Scott and his arms flow along with the melody. I also love the moment with “sycamore tree” and the transition there. Shout out also having the solo lady twizzle in the finnstep right on the boom of the music. There are too many moments to count. The whole program is magic.
Another special shout out to the latch step sequences and especially how they changed the diagonal step so that Tessa’s double twizzle hit right on the music and created such a moment. I also love the straight line lift and how with the changes made so it was timed perfectly to be in a moment of silence between lyrics. Tessa and Scott know how to use the moments of silence and stillness just as much as they know how to use the moments of intensity and attack.
Tumblr media
Moment of appreciation for the guitar lick during the rumba where they kick in as they get that chocktaw key point before the inside 3-turns. Iconic behavior.
What I love is that they dig deep into their music, really listen, and really try and make their movements and their program not only match the music, but elevate the music to the point where you hear things you maybe didn’t before because it never got highlight in that way before.
Tumblr media
I love that they aren’t afraid to not only hit the big, in your face “rooooxaNNE” moment, but it’s that they chose to put it at the end of their twizzle sequence which needs perfect timing, perfect synchronicity, and perfect attack. Not to mention, the amazing head-head moment with the violin right after. But then! It’s not just the end of the twizzle sequence, because they also accent the music every where in between because the first set is on beat to the music as is the second set which leads into their arm transition in character and then we get the big moment. With Tessa and Scott, their musicality is such that they create these little micro pockets of moments amidst one giant moment that is their full program; because the twizzles fit perfectly in the program, but the twizzles also stand alone as their own moment of tension and release -- just magnificent.
Tumblr media
Off topic, but gosh it always amazes me just how fast they are going into and through this lift. As I’ve mentioned previously, it’s not just the big accents they are hitting, but the small ones as well. It took me half the season to realize there is a lovely little piano lick right as Tessa backflips and rises up into position, just as the music is rising along with her and once again, it just feels right.  No other teams owns the ice and owns their music quite like them. Because it’s not just that they are so musical, its that they have the ability to skate to all of these different types of music, and look at home in every single one. In that, they are objectively unparalleled.
When Tessa and Scott skate, it almost feels like the music is asking them to create something, and is ultimately grateful for them doing so.

[Transcription: citation taken from A Feast for Crows by George R. R. Martin. The quote reads: The north was huge, though, and Brienne had no notion which of her father's bannermen Sansa might have been most inclined to trust. Or would she seek her own blood instead? Though all of her siblings had been slain, Brienne knew that Sansa still had an uncle and a bastard half brother on the Wall, serving in the Night's Watch. Another uncle, Edmure Tully, was a captive at the Twins, but his uncle Ser Brynden still held Riverrun. And Lady Catelyn's younger sister ruled the Vale. Blood calls to blood. Sansa might well have run to one of them. Which one, though? The Wall was too far, surely, and a bleak verlar and bitter place besides. And to reach Riverrun the girl would need to cross the war torn riverlands and pass through the Lannister siege lines. The Eyrie would be simpler, and Lady Lysa would surely welcome her sister's daughter...]
This bit just made me remember teenage me screaming in frustration because Brienne is smart as hell and then does nothing to follow her reasonings and honestly? I wanna do it again.

Please give us some more quotes!
okay okay okay, since you asked for it, here are some that are either really meaningful, or others that i just found really cute:
“The summer sun was not meant for boys like me. Boys like me belonged to the rain.” - Benjamin Alire Sáenz, “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe”
“Words were different when they lived inside of you.” - Benjamin Alire Sáenz, “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe” (i have a slightly modified version of this one as a tattoo on my forearm because i loved it so much!)
“Maybe it’s better to have gotten it right and been happy for one day instead of living a lifetime of wrongs.” - Adam Silvera, “They Both Die at the End”
“Sleep heavily and know that I am here with you. The past is gone, and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first, and settles in as the gentle present. This now, this us, we can cope with that. We can do this together you and I.” - Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor, “Welcome to Night Vale, episode 12” (wtnv is full to the brim of amazing quotes that i love with all my heart and if i put all of them here, this post would be full of them. so lmk if you want more amazing wtnv quotes)
“I need to have things to remember to hold on to who I am. Today is…it’s gonna be one of those memories. Barry already gave me a day. And…I love him, Taako, with all of my heart, but you…I needed a day from you, because you are my heart. You know that, right?” - Griffin Mcelroy, “The Adventure Zone: Balance, episode 65″ (same as with wtnv, taz balance is full of amazing quotes. if you want to see some more of my favs from this series, check out this post)
“repeat after me: you owe no one your forgiveness. - except maybe yourself.” - Amanda Lovelace, “the princess saves herself in this one”
“Luc yawned, leaning back into the chair to regard me by the light of the sputtering candle. ‘You are lovely.’ I stood, frozen, unsure of how to respond. And then he baffled me even further when he lumbered to his feet and folded me into a tight embrace, as if he had known me his entire life and we had been separated for years.” - Rebecca Ross, “The Queen’s Rising.” (some important context for this one - this is not a conversation between love interests, but is in fact the first meeting between our main character and her adopted brother)
“‘This is my daughter,’ Jourdain said. ‘You will not touch her again.’ ‘She is mine,’ Allenach growled. ‘She is mine, and I will take back the life I gave her.’ Jourdain had the defiance to chuckle, as if Allenach had said the most foolish of things. ‘She was never yours to begin with, Brendan.’” - Rebecca Ross, “The Queen’s Rising” (the girl they’re talking about is the same one from the quote above. this duology has lots of very sweet adopted family feels)
“‘Please don’t hate me for this, but I’d always assumed the Handicapped were different from norms. We were taught at school that the only difference was a faulty immune system, but all the jokes people make about the smell, the stupidity, the ugliness...Well, they had a bigger impact than one science lesson.’ He paused. ‘I was on a base in Gamma sector when the news broke about the alien probe arriving at Earth. There were three hundred of us packed into a hall watching the vid coverage. We saw you, startlingly young for the job you were doing, with a name that told us you were descended from Tellon Blaze, then...’ He shook his head. ‘Then some bigoted civilian called you an ape, and we realized you were Handicapped. I think we were as stunned by that as by the news of the alien probe. That moment changed my image of the Handicapped from a slow-witted semi-human to a glowing girl.’” - Janet Edwards, “Earth Flight”
“The government says your existence is a crime, but no matter what kind of weapons you may hold, just being alive isn't a sin! There's no crime in living!” - Eiichiro Oda, “One Piece”

For the controversial opinions- All Star Batman and Robin, WHEN VIEWED AS AN ELSEWORLD isn’t *completely* terrible- it’s very sexist, but some of the other complaints rely on the belief that people can’t be substantially different from their alternate universe selves?
I have to confess I have not read All Star Batman and Robin - it’s the one that image of Vicky Vale in pink négligée is from, right? Ugh. I mean, there’s a time and place for all things, and in comics, I feel like all you’re showing at the page should work at the story overall. Does it in this case? Or was it added for the pleasure of the viewer/creator? Experience tells me it’s the latter so - I skipped it.
Like, I’m running on approximately five hours of sleep per night this week, so do I understand the second part correctly, like people complain about characters being substantially different from their main universe counterparts? Well, depends on how different they are, and if it makes sense within the condition of this particular alternative universe, and what you can infer from it, and how it influences the character overall.
It’s a short answer, the long answer below. And it is really a long one, ok? And at some points controversial.
Like, for example, Jason Todd in the world created by Booster Gold, where Bruce’s parents didn’t die? And he didn’t become Batman and didn’t adopt Jason. So - Jason grew up as an asshole who invented a very dangerous anti-theft device that will electrocute to the point of severe trauma or death anyone who tries to steal the tires from a car.
Which, in the story, were children, and a lot of children, and not only Jason didn’t pull the product from the stores, he denied any responsibility and hmm paid someone off to get off the hook? Or just had a scammy lawyer who got him off the hook. I don’t remember what. Basically, he was an anti-thesis to everything Jason Todd was, including at his most psychotic (Battle for the Cowl and onward until the New 52, I think).
Problems I have with this characterization: - weak basis for this kind of change. Can Jason be made into someone who cares about money more than other children who mirror his own fate directly? Sure. Would Batman not adopting him be enough? Nah.
- implications. This kinda tells the reader: oh Jason was a rotten apple, and without Bruce’s wholesome influence he would have become even worse. That’s a very pro-Bruce, anti-Jason opinion. Like, we also know at least one version of Jason who grew up without Batman? It’s priest!Jason, who had, I admit, tumultuous past, being an addict and a member of a gang/cult before being literally reborn (ugh, Jason Todd is literally DC’s Jesus). But this kinda does feel like a realistic outcome in a much more difficult world than main continuity - or the one with no Batman, compared to lex luthor wannabe.
Arguments against my take:
- I love Jason, so ofc I will prefer version of his character that paint him in a good light.
- I sound like Nightwing conspiracy theorist, only, you know, about Jason Todd.
- I actually didn’t read All-Star Batman and Robin and at this point, I’m afraid to do so.
Counterarguments:
- I actually routinely do mental gymnastic making canon make sense. I accept Jason who beat Tim up and make the psychotic break he experienced during BfTC and B&R make sense. I accept him turning into an octopus or impersonating Nightwing. I accept RHATO. So it’s saying something that this is going too far.
- Some points NCT bring up are valid. Like, Didio hated Dick - and specifically because if Dick gets older, then Bruce is aging. You can look up the quote. And it’s kinda the same with other characters. What Lobdell did to Roy and Kory to prop Jason up, what Glass or whoever else wrote Teen Titans recently, did to Damian, because they’re racist (don’t at me - if it looks racist, it’s probably is racist, and there are more than a few Damian’s fans who can explain it better than me), what Morrison did to Talia due to his - I don’t remember, was it mommy issues or ex-wife issues, or racism only, but I also don’t care. Best case scenario he’s just sucks at writing, and that’s why he overhauled all previous characterisation of Talia to fit the story he wanted for Damian. Which - it did not even had to be like that! You could have done it, with Damian and Batman on one side and Talia at the other, with much more nuance and care! Or, let’s remember the epic Jason Todd’s pre-death retcons and the vote. It was simply because the writer didn’t like him! He wanted to kill him off! Oh, and don’t start me with Steph and Cass. Tl;dr: writers, editors and executives influence what is written, and they are themselves influenced by their biases and preferences. And it sucks, mostly.
- I am actually a big liar who lies because I am reading it right now, and boy, Vicky Vale, dumb vapish and vane columnist, how ground-breaking, how interesting that is.

Longform Audio Creepypasta Recs
hey TMA fandom! as a new TMA listener but looooongtime creepypasta fan, I find it rly cool that ppl who aren’t into horror are getting into TMA! I’m hoping this will help bring fresh blood (hah) to the horror fandom, so if you’ve realized that you rather like audio horror but don’t know what else to look into, I’m here to recommend my favorite longform creepypasta narrations!
this is far from an exhaustive list of long creepypastas, but I just want to introduce some of the stories I consider to be the best of the genre. and while I’m just reccing longform in this post, there are plenty of short one-shots I could rec if anyone wants to ask me abt a specific theme/Entity or even a specific ep of TMA (there are several MAG eps that brought me straight back to a specific creepypasta or two, lmao)
also, I’ll just be linking to MrCreepyPasta’s narrations b/c I’m heavily biased so I mostly listen to him, but there are plenty of other great narrators out there like CreepsMcPasta, CreepypastaJr, etc. (most of their names are variations on a theme asdfgh). and if u just want the text version of any of these, every video I link has a link in its own description back to the original text posting of the story
THAT outta the way, here are my recs! I’ll try to remember all the trigger warnings I can, but keep in mind I tend to be p hardy to most horror content, so there may be some things that slip past simply b/c they don’t register to me. also it’s been a minute since I’ve listened to some of these, so some have updated or I may have just forgotten some aspects. I’ll also update this if ppl find it useful and I find more good long pastas~
Penpal (2.5 hrs, complete)
op recounts some of their odd experiences as a child, all of which stem from an elementary school project involving a pen pal. as he recalls these experiences, a horrifying picture of his past begins to emerge...
easily my favorite pasta of all time-- and that’s saying something, considering there are some damn good recs here. it’s one of the first I read so long ago, and few have come close to what this one made me feel. op does an incredible job of capturing the nostalgia and childhood wanderlust of youth, and the last few lines of each chunk of the story hit like a goddamned truck-- esp "Friends”, I cry like a baby every time, it just.... hits something tender in me...
TW: stalking of children, subsequent kidnapping and child abuse at the end (and while it’s not necessarily *confirmed*, heavy implications of child sexual abuse, for that last bit). implied cat death. some graphic description of the victim of a hit-and-run
Search and Rescue Woods (~5 hrs, ongoing?)
op recalls several of the strange and disturbing experiences (their own and quoted from coworkers) of working search-and-rescue for an unnamed national forest in the US
y’know that feeling u get when u see photos lawn chairs just sitting at the bottom of the ocean? even if there’s a perfectly good explanation for why they’re there, it’s still haunting b/c it feels wrong to see them there, in that context? that’s basically this entire assortment of stories-- the obvious example being the stairs, of course, but even a lot of the human elements feel so out of place and wrong. if you’re a fan of Spiral-type horror w/ a hard edge of Stranger, this is the story for u
TW: generally clinical but graphic descriptions of mutilated bodies. use of the r-slur against an nd individual (it’s during a story that the main character is quoting from a different one-off character, so it thankfully only happens the one time..). child death, in certain stories. some wild animal death
Borrasca (2.5 hrs, complete)
Sam moves to a small mountain town with his family after his father’s job relocates them. he hears some spooky legends about the town, but doesn’t think much of them... that is, until his sister disappears. as Sam and his friends dig deeper into the town’s history to find any clues to his sister’s disappearance, they begin to realize there’s something deeply deeply wrong with their quaint little home
I’ve always loved horror that’s ‘mundane’ enough to be done by regular humans, but vague enough that it could actually be supernatural, under the right circumstances-- and this is one of those mysteries that keeps u guessing until the VERY end. my mind felt like that Pepe Silvia corkboard meme the first time I listened to this, I was losin’ it. this is also prolly one of my favorite examples of MCP’s talent as a narrator, b/c he adds in his own subtle foreshadowing with his voicework, and it blows my mind every time I listen to it again
also worth mentioning there’s a (3.5 hr) sequel! since the horror/mystery is basically done after the first one, the sequel is mostly suspense/thriller and character closure. if ur just here for the horror/mystery and the gut-punch of that first ending, then the sequel isn’t necessary. but if you want more closure for our dear sweet cast who deserve so much better, then by all means!
TW: the ending involves heavy sexual abuse (involving underage girls, no less), part of which is graphic. like I know I joke abt having to take breaks after reading emotionally exhausting stories, but I genuinely had to take a couple days of recovery after this one-- and that’s from someone who’s p hardy to all kinds of graphic content. do NOT take this warning lightly if this is a sensitive topic for you
Tales From the Gas Station (10 hrs for free, otherwise ongoing)
Jack works at a gas station at the edge of a middle-of-nowhere town. Strange things happen at the gas station-- bipedal deer stopping by for a drink, dark gods leaving vague messages, fingers growing from the ground out back, sudden lawn gnome appearances-- All just a part of the daily grind, right?
so if I wanna be totally fair, this is more a rec for Night Vale fans than anything (tho the TMA/WTNV overlap seems to be p significant). the comedic, nonchalant tone taken towards everything supernatural and horrific is p much 1:1 WTNV. I’ve genuinely cried laughing at some of the fuckshit that happens, esp anything involving Jerry. not to say that GST doesn’t have its heavy-horror moments, but the frequency is more comparable to Night Vale’s approach-- dark comedy definitely takes center stage, here. tho this also varies by the POV-- the “Finding Vanessa” arcs are told from the perspective of a more serious character, so the heavy parts are far more frequent and hit a lot harder
as for the time estimate, here’s where it gets a littleee bit complicated. the first version was put out for free, and read for free by MCP (among a few other narrators). this came out in several different parts, and the one video I linked above has compiled *most* of volume 1, but not the Halloween story, featured here. HOWEVER, the author has taken a second go at v1 and beyond, which is currently ongoing and available to buy as books or audiobooks ALSO narrated by MCP!
as for deciding which version to listen to, I’ll just try to describe the differences here. the first version was written entirely via Jack’s online forum posts, which were subject to more direct reader interaction and Jack’s scatterbrain. thus, the first version leaves a LOT more details up to reader interpretation/theorizing, straight up doesn’t have or explain certain plot arcs yet, and is very disorganized in terms of timeline all due to Jack’s canon memory issues. this all, personally, made it v fun and silly to follow, but I’m aware that’s not for everyone. the second version is written from a more standard first person narrative from Jack’s perspective. while Jack’s memory issues still make him an unreliable narrator (often *upsettingly* so in this version), the actual narrative is far more organized, complete, and easy to follow. the fun thing is that the first version can still be considered canon material to the second version, as Jack references making those very forum posts within the second version narrative. so, personally, I consider the second version to be the core cohesive story, while the first version is supplemental, fun material that provides more context for a few of the strange bits that happen in the story (like Jack’s ‘secret admirer’ makes more sense if u’ve listened to the first version). either way, the second version is the only way the story is going to continue (as far as I’m aware), so if you’re ONLY going to listen to one version of the story, listen to the second version
TW: for the first version, there are some uncomfortable jokes/implications at certain points-- associating villains/assholes with fatness and/or personality disorders is unfortunately a running theme, and a few off-color jokes are made abt some of Jack’s conditions (general mental health and his brief use of crutches). there’s also a point at which it’s implied that a specific one-off arc is a ploy to rape Jack, tho nothing actually comes of it beyond awkward scheming (but just in case, that story is specifically “Death at the Gas Station” at the very end of that long compilation, if u wanna skip it). for the second version, I believe the author was made aware of these issues and either straight-up removed or fixed most of them in some way. there’s just one point where an intentionally-questionable character uses the g*psy slur, and a few points where a regular commenter on Jack’s forum posts has w*ndigo in their username
in terms of gore for either one, uhhh maybe some descriptions of injuries? body horror? this one’s a lot harder to call for me, b/c the comedy softens the blow on a lot of the horror
Accounts From a Lonely Broadcast Station (5 hrs, ongoing)
Evelyn is the new voice of a small mountain town’s local radio station. her job is to take calls, play music (ALWAYS play the music), and broadcast emergency warnings whenever the fog rolls in from the surrounding forest. pretty standard stuff. she tries to make the most of it-- if only that damn crow with human eyes would stop watching her...
this one’s similar to Gas Station Tales with its heavy reliance on dark humor, but it takes itself a bit more seriously, with a more even split b/t genuine horror and comedy. also MCP brings in wonderful extra voice talent w/ this one, I RLY love Evelyn's va ;w;
TW: graphic descriptions of mutilation and body horror
My Friend Has Been Living in an Alternate Reality (4 hrs, complete)
op’s eccentric friend, Clint, turns up on op’s doorstep unannounced after several years missing. Clint vanishes again just as abruptly, leaving op with a journal detailing a horrifying, dangerous journey that’s almost too bizarre to believe, yet...
so this one’s more like an action/thriller with horror garnish, tbh-- very exciting and suspenseful! I love the weird, apocalyptic world Clint describes in his journals, and the societies that have cropped up around these hostile circumstances
TW: graphic descriptions of mutilation/injury
My Name is Lily Madwhip (~8 hrs, ongoing)
Lily Madwhip sees things before they happen. they’re usually horrible things like deaths and injuries that she wishes she could prevent but often can’t. at least her best friend-- an angel possessing one of Lily’s dolls-- is around to provide advice
this one’s from the perspective of a little girl, and it leans into dark humor enough to soften at least some of the more traumatic moments. Lily’s young enough that she’s somewhat removed from the full gravity of the deaths around her, but the fact that it’s happening so frequently at all seems to be warping her perspective towards death to be more... casual? is that the right word? it’s just a rly interesting perspective to see for horror. also we’ve got another rly great guest va here for Lily~
TW: brief descriptions of injury, but they’re not graphic. frequent animal death.
The Showers (2.75 hrs, complete)
op recounts a scary story he heard from a teacher back in high school about a vague location and a terrifying encounter. he later ventures to find this location to see the truth for himself, but is it worth it?
this one’s a classic-- I think it was of the first creepypasta I listened to? not this version, but I wouldn’t be able to tell u which narrator it was at the time. I won’t say that this one’s the most unique story out there, but something abt it has always stuck with me?.... idk, I think the premise rly hooks me
TW: oh god it’s been a while, but I don’t remember anything particularly triggering? maybe body horror?

So, I’m taking a three-class Python course at a local nonprofit and today was the second one and I was kinda wistfully thinking about what if I had all my shit together, my illnesses diagnosed AND properly treated, before I went to college the first time. How much easier would things have been? (Even though logically I know that part of the reason this class is making so much sense is because of my prior classes in Java and R, even if it feels like I retained nothing from them) and that it’s been three weeks instead of eighteen hours between one class and the next so I had already looked ahead at some of the concepts we covered today while I had been practicing.)
Anyways so I turn the page in my planner to take more notes -- and this planner is largely filled with cheesy quotes from women that I largely ignore because I like this planner for its weekly layout rather than its portrayal of a womanhood I don’t connect with -- and I see “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” attributed to George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans) (and yes I did check that it was a masculine penname and that they weren’t misgendering and deadnaming someone because I am not an English major and I did not know).
So. I immediately feel both called out and comforted.
And then the Night Vale episode I listen to as I walk home and make lunch ends like this:
Listeners, maybe at some point Nick wanted to be something other than he was, but that doesn’t mean he is beholden to that dream he once had. It’s okay for him to be all right with who he is now. Acceptance is not failure. Sometimes acceptance is just acceptance.
Of course, one must always be open to new dreams, and new ambition. And if, at some point, Nick decides that he no longer wants to be an A.P. auto shop teacher, or if he decides he wants to alter history so he will never have even come here…then that, too, will be okay.
Stay tuned next for an unexpected gain in cabin pressure. No mask will help you. We weren’t prepared for things to go this way.
And goodnight, Night Vale. Goodnight.
It’s okay that I am where I am. It’s okay that I prepared for some things that didn’t happen, and didn’t prepare for other things that did. I am in a safe and happy spot at the moment, it’s alright that my trajectory to get here wasn’t perfect or even all that advisable. What matters is that I am good and safe and stable, and so my next steps don’t have to be taken in the echoes of my previous plans or the footprints of my previous realities.

For the flower asks: Aster, Blazing Stars, Pincushion (:D), and Zinnia - R
Ohh, thank you for asking :)
Aster: What’s one of your favorite quotes?
I used to have a whole folder on my phone for good quotes, but I think my favourite would have to be the one I chose as my yearbook quote, which is from Welcome to Night Vale: ‘I hope that we all find something - or someone - that can keep the light on a little longer against the endless, pressing dark.’
Blazing Stars: What are you afraid of? Is there a reason why?
Truly, my biggest fear has always been getting cancer, because I heard so much about it as a kid, and my grandma’s sister died from it when I was little, so it’s always been like this shadowy threat hanging over me. I’ve managed to mostly minimise the fear, but it’s still there, always ready to come out from hiding if I get suspicious about a weird patch of skin or get worried about a mole... and it’s one of those annoying fears that is actually quite real and plausible and so close that there isn’t much I can do to make it go away.
Pincushion: How do you deal with pain?
Ohhh, I was waiting for this one ;) Well, I usually laugh, lie on the bathroom floor, maybe take some ibuprofen if it’s bad, laugh some more, drink hot chocolate and try to enjoy it. But it depends on the pain... (oh, am I sounding like Sam? what a strange coincidence...)
Zinnia: Give a random fact about yourself.
Hmm, well people seem to find this one fun, but my skin is weirdly sensitive so you can sort of write or draw things on it by just gently tracing a nail along it, and it comes up very clearly in little raised red lines and stays for about 15 minutes. People are always concerned that I’m hurt because I get these huge red patches from even leaning against a table. But then I explain it and they think that it’s fascinating and always want to try it out. Sometimes I even write myself little reminders like that... and no, it doesn’t hurt at all.
(sorry this turned out so long, but enjoy?)

11/11/11
I waited too long to do this, so now I have 44 questions to do. RIP. Tagged by @writersblockandapotoftea, @arwallace (I know you tagged @expositionpreposition but it’s easier to do it here!), @shit-she-wrote, and @atinydino
Cap:
Who was your childhood hero?
Honestly, probably JKR. Again, RIP.
If we didn’t start the fire, who did?
People like my dad who say “millennials” like it’s a derogatory word probably
What made you start your wip?
Reading too much Dresden Files and also looking at magic academia posts on Tumblr (Gutter Witch); Reading Eragon (Companion to Dragons); Wanting to make an open magic world (Witches Anthology); Reading too much Stucky fanfiction (Fractal); Listening to the Magnus Archives three times through in a month (CHAF3k); wanted to go on a magic adventure with my high school friends (Children of the Light)
Hogwarts house?
Gryffindor!
Star Trek or Star Wars
Star Wars, though I like both
What was your pre-teen bop?
Uhhh Taylor Swift’s whole second album
If you could have a fantasy creature as a pet, what would you pick?
A dragon about the size of a cat that could sit on my shoulder and talk to me
What’s your pet peeve?
Feeling like people are upset with me but won’t talk to me about it
Dracula or Frankenstien’s Monster?
Haven’t read Dracula so Frankenstein’s monster, I guess.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve said to a friend?
I mean I had a conversation with two lesbians about dildos yesterday, soooo
If you had to murder someone, who would it be?
No one. I honestly don’t think I’d be able to live with myself after.
A R Wallace
Which book(s)/series would you compare your current WIP(s) to?
The Dresden Files. Though I did have someone say it was like reading a better-written Mortal Instruments. I was tickled.
Would you be willing to adapt your WIP into a movie one     day? Why or Why not?
Yes. Please. Let me see my work come to life.
What is your ‘writing ritual’? (do you make sure     you’ve made a cup of tea, sit in a particular spot, etc.)
I don’t have any particular ritual, I usually just try and seize the energy when I have it. Right now I am trying to sit at my actual desk to work, though, and during school if I had anything that I desperately needed to get done I took my ass to a coffee shop and told myself I wasn’t allowed to leave until it was done.
How much has writeblr helped you with your writing?
It helped me find a writing community that inspired me to get back to work after the depression had taken it away from me. I’m not as active on writeblr as maybe I could be, but the writing discord I found through it has been a lifeline.
If you could be one creature (real or mythical), what would you be?
A dragon. But like, one of the ones that can shapeshift. I also like being human.
Sum up your favorite WIP in one sentence
Oh god I’m supposed to have a favorite? That’s not gonna happen…
Gutter Witch: Local teens sick and tired of prophetic bullshit
Children of the Light: Estranged assholes learn to love each other again and also stop the apocalypse
Fractal: Hell on Earth in so many ways
Companion to Dragons: Girl’s asshole father sends her and her sister on a suicide mission and thinks that’s the end of it (surprise!)
Witches Anthology: literally a whole bunch of short stories so I’m not gonna try
Which of your characters is your favorite?
Whyyyyyy idk in GW probably Hunter, he’s fun to write. Overall maybe Sterling, my enby necromancer in the anthology
Which of your characters is your least favorite?
Hunter’s mother. Like honestly, every time I write about her she gets worse.
What do you believe is the most overused trope in your WIP’s genre(s)?
Melodrama.
Favorite season?
Autumn
If you could travel anywhere in the universe, where would you go?
Several places in Europe, in no particular order.
Eva:
1.     What’s the first story you remember writing?
A story about a cat and a mouse becoming friends.
2.     How has your taste in books changed since childhood?
I’ve tended a lot less towards high fantasy. I think it’s too much of an energy investment to try and understand the worldbuilding right now, whereas you can usually just jump into urban fantasy. I’ve also gotten a lot more interested in horror.
3.     Do you see any similarities to your favorite books in your work? If yes, what are they?
If I’m being real honest, most of my wips are direct rip-offs of stuff I’ve read/watched/listened to, at least in the first draft. I usually try and direct my obsessions into creative energy at some point, with differing amounts of success.
4.     What sort of music inspires you?
Stuff with strong beats/baseline and vaguely rebellious lyrics. So like, lots of Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy. But also trailer music like Epic Score and Two Steps from Hell
5.     Favorite book?
These are the most evil kinds of questions you guys.
I can’t think of any published books I’d call my absolute favorite, but I do have a handful of fanfics I read on at least an annual basis: War, Children, by Nonymos; To Be Vulnerable Is Needed Most of All, by perfect_plan; and Schroedinger’s Romance by lesbuchanan
6.     Favorite mythology (Greek, Norse, etc.)?
Probably Celtic? I’m really rusty on it though
7.     Dream vacation?
A long, long trip through Europe without having to worry about money
8.     Favorite writing snack?
I don’t really eat when I write because its too much of a distraction :P
9.     What tea do you drink the most while writing?
Irish Breakfast
10.  Do you have a special writing cup, that you drink tea out of specifically when writing to fill you up with inspiration?
I have a couple I’m more likely to grab, like my Night Vale Community Radio mug or my white Starbucks mug with the gold lettering
11. Write your favorite quote from your recent wip!!
Just outside the beam of light was a circle of what looked like black paint, tiny sigils scratched into it, shimmering uncannily in the dark. Wisps of that grim light drifted from the sigils to the figures at their center, dancing around Mara’s hands, clutching at Hunter’s shirt. Anywhere they touched his skin, blood seeped from a new laceration, sluggish and dark and horrible.
“Hunter,” she breathed.
Then she heard him.
“Run, Cady,” he croaked. “Tell my mom...she’s a bitch.”
Ames:
1.     What’s your favorite season and why
Autumn! I love rain and also that it’s not super hot or super cold
2.     What’s your favorite food?
Bread.
3.     Who’s your favorite character in your most recent WIP?
Hunter Bishop, asshole extraordinaire
4.     Do you hide easter eggs in your writing? If so tell me a few.
Hm. If I do, I don’t consider them easter eggs, just references. Though I did have someone in my creative writing class ask if the sandwich my protagonist was eating was based on one served in one of the restaurants on campus (and he was right)
5.     Would you prefer your WIPs to be turned into a movie or tv series? (feel free to tell me about more than just 1)
Gutter Witch should just be a movie, and I’m leaning towards that for Witches as well. Fractal could go either way, though I’m leaning towards TV show. Children of the Light could go either way. CHAF3k will hopefully be a podcast at some point.
6.     If you could have a writing studio anywhere with anything in it, what would it be like and where would it be?
I like the nook I have, though I think I’d adjust the height of my desk chair and add a coffee maker and a closer bathroom so I don’t have to walk all the way across the apartment. Oh, and I’d get a massive whiteboard so I can go all conspiracy theory on my wips.
7.     What music do you listen to to get you in the zone? (the writing zone)
Trailer music! Epic Score and Two Steps from Hell. I can’t listen to music with lyrics while I try to make the words go.
8.     What’s your worldbuilding process?
Panic.
But actually, I think of the aesthetic I’m after and then try to make everything build off of that. Along the way I usually try to figure out what thing I’m consciously or unconsciously basing it off of so that I can make necessary changes.
9.     Who are your most influential authors?
JKR (sorry), Laini Taylor, Juliet Marillier, Tamora Pierce
10.  What’s your favorite kind of cookie?
French macarons
11. Give me your favorite excerpt for your recent WIP!
“I wanted to talk to Madge.”
“Madge is dead,” Hunter said, confused.
“I’m aware,” she said. “I asked Death to take me to her, but she said she couldn’t and suggested projection instead.”
Hunter turned from the stove with the most dumbfounded expression Cady had ever seen outside of cinema. “You asked Death,” he repeated.
Cady snorted. “Yeah. I asked Death.”
“The cosmic power, Death.”
“The cosmic power, Death. We’re good friends. She comes over for tea on occasion.”
Hunter stared at her, expression halfway between disbelief and suspicion. “You’re fucking with me.”
“I’m not fucking with you,” Cady said. “Death is the whole reason I came to this Coven. She sent me here when I was thirteen.”
Hunter sank back against the counter, looking almost faint. Whatever he’d been cooking began to sizzle alarmingly. “Death has been...in this apartment.”
Cady nodded.
Not tagging anyone else on this one. I’ve learned my lesson lmao.

GAME OF MORONES S8 E2
season 8 spoilers and bad jokes below
James Lannister is a moron!
do you kids like trolley problems? well here’s a fun puzzle for you: the mad king is going to burn thousands of people alive, including your father. you can a) let him or b) stop him by killing him instead. what do you do?
fine, that one was easy, so here’s an ADVANCED problem:
having done the right thing and killed the king, everyone is having a go at you for murdering the king. do you a) stay silent and let resentment grow and only bad things happen, or b) explain you’re actually a hero and let only friendship and good things happen.
it’s a tough one! on the one hand, the unchecked resentment in the past has spiralled into literal wars. on the other, the one person you have revealed the truth to has literally fallen in love with you because you’re a hero.
so when approaching a dragon queen who wants to execute you for killing her father the king, it’s probably best to just not mention it
brienne: yeah I second that, let’s not mention the massive plot twist we found out about a few seasons ago, dany’s still on season 1 of westeros
three-eyed bran: well I watched it happen and could vouch for him but I’ll probably just share an in-joke about the time I watched him fuck his sister
Danny Targaryen is a moron!
context is important!
1. she is in a room where everybody’s father is dead after fighting everybody else’s father.
2. literally last episode she told sam that she killed his father and brother by burning them alive (because they were bad guys) and expected his forgiveness.
3. in this episode she mentions that the last guy she fell in love with and trusted was the guy who killed her own brother (because he was a bad guy).
4. tyrion literally killed jaime’s father (because he was a bad guy) and jaime is still here.
tyrion also killed davos’s sons by burning them alive, and brienne killed the love of his life, and she thought she killed the hound, but they’ll all chat together. it’s almost like they’re all murderers and they’ve been on the opposite side of wars for years and that stuff happens.
but the reason dany can’t forgive jaime is that HE KILLED HER FATHER, (who was FAMOUSLY a good guy and not a bad mad guy at all).
also the consistency of which people are blamed for their families is nice. the lannisters are responsibile for what their sister/father/nephew does (although admittedly in the lannisters you are more likely to BE your own nephew). dany is not responsible for her father/brothers, but gets some comments about it. gendry’s dad literally threw her family out of the country and tried to have her killed and killed jon’s dad because he wanted to fuck his mum. he’s the eldest son and sort of heir to robert the usurper. nobody even notices him. well, arya notices his arms.
tyrion has made MISTAKES and must be PUNISHED. dany has never made a mistake and definitely wasn’t forced to leave the last place she ruled because she mistakenly slaughtered half the city and caused a terrorist group to rise up against her. also worth noting that she then married the son of one of the guys she killed, expecting him to instantly forgive her after she threw him in prison... and KILLED HIS FATHER.
after jorah says tyrion is a good boy she abruptly flips from 100% ‘tyrion is a moron and I need to fire him’ to 100% ‘tyrion is the greatest genius of our age and his unique precious brain must be protected at all costs’ and should never be risked in battle
jon, the heir to the throne who actually is precious and unique, a beloved ruler and leader of people, a successful military strategist, can be risked in battle. bran, who literally knows everything and actually is precious and unique, can be risked in battle. sam, who is every bit as much a book wizard and brought them minor pieces of knowledge like dragonglass and R+L, can be risked in battle. but tyrion once said something witty, therefore he goes straight into the nerd safe.
to be fair to tyrion, he has done clever, impressive things as a hand before. probably the most impressively clever strategy thing he did was when he defended king’s landing against assault from a larger army when taking command of the defence and leading from the front line. it therefore makes sense to preserve that mind by locking him safely away when the castle is under threat of assault from a larger army.
Samwise and Three-eyes are morons!
when in a room with soldiers who are literally facing death and have killed people and almost died in many fights before, and in two cases literally died, and a couple more bascially did, and who have lost many loved ones to death, it’s important to lecture them on what death is really about. is it about literally dying, being stabbed through the heart? no, you idiots, it’s about being forgotton.
the night king wants to win this war and crush the world of the living. that’s why rather than targetting their strongest fighters and dragonriders, he will target bran, the boy in the wheelchair who says cryptic nonsense once per episode. why? because he has the best memory, and to crush the world of the living you need to crush all memory of it. which is somehow a priority over... actually crushing it, whilst it still exists, right now, whilst everyone remembers it and can see it. wiping all memories should be on the list, but only as a completist clearing up the loose ends.
‘where should we attack first, the guard towers?’ ‘no, we need to get to the library first to rip up all their books’ ‘why?’ ‘because life is memory, and the books will remember them’ 'but... the living people are still alive. you don’t just need to remember them, they’re right here. when you’re ripping up books the living, breathing guards can just come and stab you?’
if it was like... bran can see them coming, he has powers, he can travel in time, they’ll want to eliminate him AS A THREAT, or they want to USE HIS POWERS FOR EVIL, that’s fine, that’s better. but not like this.
the episode had a lot of lazy writing where they’d thought of a Cool Quote ‘dying is forgetting’ and tried to find a place to shoehorn it in but didn’t really do it properly so in context it made no sense.
same thing with ‘do you want to go anywhere else in your life, what’s on the bucket list?’ ‘I’d like to go back to naath’ (if you didn’t put on a northern accent and say ‘but you’re in the naath’ you’re watching it wrong’) with the sudden jump to ‘we’re a peaceful people, we can’t defend ourselves’ ‘we’re not a peaceful people’. cool line, but no mention of any threat or anything so it made no sense.
if it was ‘I was taken by slavers, it wouldn’t be safe to stay there, we’re a peaceful people, we can’t defend ourselves’ fine. or anything along those lines. but not like this.
other points
I always thought winter was the fourth season but it turns out it’s the eighth
arya is 18 and maisie williams is 22 but game of thrones fans were shocked to see her having sex, because none of them had sex that young.
“well we’ve shown orgies, we’ve shown rape, we’ve shown incest, we’ve shown paedophilia, this episode we’ve had a guy talk about sleeping with a giant and sucking her breast milk for months, but viewers only laugh, they’re immune, how can we shock them like we used to?” “show a 22 year old actress without a shirt on” “wow that’s messed up”
did she tell gendry to stick her with the pointy end
if the writers don’t play duel of the fates when she is wielding her double-ended lightsaber thingy they are missing a trick
beric dondarrion has the most ridiculous protagonist energies, handsome young lord the ladies fancy, known as the lightning lord, does great at a tourney and is sent to slay an evil giant, dies, gets brought back to life by god and becomes robin hood, leading a brotherhood out of nowhere to challenge the great powers of the realm, dies several more times and gets brought back to life because as well as being robin hood he is also jesus, of all the major character dying he alone has a Holy Purpose, so he journeys up to go beyond the wall to face death with his magic flaming sword just because of destiny, always talks like he’s the smooth action hero, he naturally fits the answer to every prophecy the others are bending the rules to get stannis or dany to fit, and when he talks to people they’re just like shut up beric
hang on let me catch up here: bran is technically the lord stark, but if he says he is a bird instead sansa is the heir to the north, plus she married ramsay so inherits it from him anyway, and she is also apparently lady of the vale, and tyrion is technically heir to the westerlands as jaime is a kingsguard, so that there’s a pretty sweet power couple if they decide they’re still married after all
also in theory gendry would be the heir to house baratheon and the stormlands, and if the lannister made the tarlys the lords of the reach sam is the heir to that, and jon is the targaryen heir to the crownlands, so we have the wardens of the north south east and west and the stormlands in one castle as well as the king of both the seven kingdoms and the north again, but almost none of this is mentioned or explored and they all keep following dany who is the rightful heir of nothing?????

JONSA; the instrumentality of R+L=J
I must admit, as a jonsa shipper that I really like most of your metas on the subject. First of all, I would like to apologize for my use of english; I am not a native speaker and I know my use of such language to be far from perfect so please, if you finally take the time to read the post I am about to write and the reasons to write it, feel free to make any reference to any mistake you can find, it will be in my personal interest.
As I implied before, this is a jonsa post, but i believe it to be kinda different from the rest because I won’t be using foreshadowing from the books ( I don’t even know how to do it properly) nor the show. Anyone can find that on other amazing posts there are around which were made by people able to do them far better than myself. What is really important here is the structure of the story and how I’ve come to understand ASOIAF (books and show). The second reason why I will do it this way is because I agree with a full lot of people out there that at the end, every ship, from Jonsa to Jonerys it is nothing else than a whish, and when we hope something strongly enough we begin to project it under every light, for any excuses, seeing any quote or any passage as foreshadowing something. Please don’t get me wrong, I’ve learn from a full lot of metas; some of them are amazing and have brought light to some events. But the point for me is that no one at this point (except the obvious ones) know how this amazing story will end, that doesn’t mean that they’re not right: I’ve found around there people posting about R+L=J in the books for years, and then asking jonsa meta creators to find a quote that proves their theory to be true. My answer for such arguments is that nowadays, as long as the books go, there is not a single solid proof that R+L=J, just foreshadowing, and as the TV show confirmed, that never meant they were wrong.
At the end of season 6 I was quite hyped about Jonerys options. Dany was finally moving to westeros with her army, dragons, Dorne and High Garden at her back and Jon had just be named King in the North with the Vale bonded to him to some extent. Dany had left Naharis behind in order to be able to forge an alliance through marriage, but there were just 3 bachelors politically worthy of her hand: Euron, Sweet Robin and Jon Snow. Euron was out of question since she choosed to support Asha’s claim, and Sweet Robin... Well... Jon Snow was the remaining and perfect match allowing her to become Queen in the North by marriage, and tie The Vale to her claim along Dorne and The Reach; leaving Cersei with the ravaged Riverlands which are not really loyal to her nor the Freys, Casterly Rock and its bannermen who had fought several battles and lost a huge amount of men since the war begun, the Iron Islands (which are poor and divided) and some support from the Stormlands. It seemed good, yet Dany suddenly forgot why she let her lover behind and started to make demands as a stupid and spoiled teenager. I never got to understand why the idea never came to her or Tyrion’s  (who should be smart enough and keen to Jon Snow) minds, it was stupid at best.
When season seven came to an end I was extremely dissapointed with the season and needing more I started to read the books, and I’ve come to read them all 4 times since then. Then I started to wonder about the endgame, coming to a vague yet huge realasation: it’s all about R+L=J. Some would say it is obvious yet most of  people don’t come to fully understand such a statement. It is not about Jon becoming King because he is the true heir of Aerys Targaryen, ASOIAF is not this kind of story (Stannis was right about his claim from the beginning yet no one gave a shit) in fact your best buddy and your crippled ‘’prophet’’ brother saying you are and then your father’s best friend (Howland Reed) confirming it doesn’t make it a claim, but a rumour: it is people accepting it which makes it a claim (like Renlie’s, who never really had one). The point of George foreshadowing R+L=J it’s not just poetical, it must be instrumental for his story; useful for the endgame, and what makes me feel that way is the fact that GRR Martin has been spending time on this plot from the very Ned’s first chapter (I mean Robert’s quote about kings hiding under the snow  in the crypts of winterfell). We all know how long George takes to write a book and it would be useless to develop such a plot for no reason and spending years trying to show and hide the truth at the same time, chosing the right words, where to put them... R+L=J is essential to his story and that feeling is what made us aware that Jon would come back from death.
If Dany and Jon were about to rule together it wouldn’t matter whose claim is better; she holds the true power and not even the claim would matter if it isn’t his it whould be hers, so, if this was the outcome of all, why has GRRMartin spent his time in R+L=J’s plot; just to add drama to this couple? Just to add a little problem that they will eventually solve and live happily ever after? Sounds shitty and a waste to make it just a detail because if with this outcome you took R+L=J out of ASOIAF, there would be almost no difference but preventing an incestous romance.
After realising this I started wondering how would it play out with Jon’s claim  being accepted. There are two possibilities: everyone respect him enough after the long night not to give a shit, or people would prefer him rather than the alternative. Right now, in the show Jon Snow is King in the North, but he is weak, He does not hold men of his own, nor a castle (Sansa is lady of Winterfell not him) he is king by deference, not by power but the wildlings and they were few enough before the battle of the bastards, he is a weak king and a king under the pretension that he is Ned’s Stark son, who he is not. R+L=J can do nothing but jeopardize his authority and once this happens he will be useless to Daenerys (even if she loves him). Then we have the southern lords, whose rights will be at stake if a military strong ruler would end at the Iron Throne (after all feudalism meant the power struggle of the local noblemen against the crown for their own rights and privileges). For them, someone like Dany is not a dream but a threat (she even admitted she wants to break the wheel). R+L=J gives them the chance to deny her claim in exchange for a king who holds nothing but respect instead of a foreigner who doesn’t respect anything but her own power and entitlement. You may think what you want but for me R+L=J being actually important makes Jonerys impossible, or better, making Jonerys the endgame makes R+L=J nothing but such a pairing creepy as hell.
In the other hand; King Jon could marry a lot of women (at least in the books); Margeary, Val, Cersei (I know it’s almost impossible but I am just listing), Myranda Royce, Arianne Martell... But King Jon being a weak king will need a strong political engagement in order to get support and strength, and those kind of fiances are not  common: Myranda Royce is from a minor branch of Royce family and doesn’t exist in the show, Val is not even a princess just a free woman who doesn’t exist in the show, Margeary Tyrell would make a great option as long as she lives and is unmarried (not in the show anymore) as Arianne (a crybaby more concerned for her own rights than for Dorne itself who doesn’t exist in the show). As far as the show goes there are just 2 women that are not Daenerys that fit the role: Cersei and Sansa (Lyanna Mormont is not a valid option since her house is to little and unimportant and she is a child).  Just those 2...
Lot of people would say Sansa is his sister (to some extent), but the truth being said she is not, they’re cousins: why? Because R+L=J. If Jonsa would be endgame, a possibility no one can confirm nor deny, R+L=J would have a double instrumentality and this is why Jonsa is my ship instead of Jonerys, because it makes the most important hide plot of ASOIAF essential for 2 reasons instead of completely useless. Some can say that it is unlikely GRRMartin to write such a farytailed story, but from my perspective, no matter how cruel, cynical and unfair the world of ice and fire is, his story is still a song.

Jon Snow knows some things.
I’m on a re-read of A Game of Thrones and I noticed that one of the first things we’re told about Jon is that he’s observant.
“A bastard had to learn to notice things, to read the truth that people hid behind their eyes.” - Jon I, A Game of Thrones.
As @sneakystarks pointed out, he picks things up about people quite easily. He decides his opinions on them without needing much:
“Jon saw only a fat man, red-faced under his beard, sweating through his silks,” - Jon upon seeing Robert Baratheon.
“Jon noticed the shy looks she gave Robb as they passed between the tables and the timid way she smiled at him. He decided she was insipid. Robb didn’t even have the sense to realize how stupid she was; he was grinning like a fool,” - upon seeing Myrcella.
“Sansa looked radiant as she walked beside him, but Jon did not like Joffrey’s pouty lips or the bored, disdainful way he looked at Winterfell’s Great Hall.” - upon seeing Joffrey.
“Jon found it hard to look away from him. This is what a king should look like, he thought to himself as the man passed.” - upon seeing Jaime Lannister.
I’m aware the show makes a point to downplay some of Jon’s abilities especially when it comes to being more political. This maybe even to prop up Jonsa as a pairing since Jon takes up the role of the military man on the show, with Sansa being the more politically aware character - the Vale plot would’ve shown her growth but alas, we never truly saw her train - but it’s book canon that he notices things, and he has a skill of picking them up quickly.
There’s plenty more evidence in Jon I, A Storm of Swords.
“Mance Rayder’s outriders closed in as they emerged. Jon took their measure with a glance: eight riders, men and women both, clad in fur and boiled leather...”
“Both the white-bearded man and the bald one were warriors, that was plain to Jon at a glance.”
I chose this chapter because often when debunking the possibility of the Undercover Lover theory(or political Jon theory), people ignore how Jon managed to fool the Wildlings into believing he was for them. The reality is, he knows how to choose his words carefully, he knows how to sell himself:
“Jon took another swallow of mead. There is only one tale he might believe.”
He says this before he asks Mance if he saw where they had sat him during the feast with King Robert at Winterfell, in contrast to where his other half-siblings were sat.
“And did you see where I was seated, Mance?” he leaned forward. “Did you see where they put the bastard?”
He knows he has to sell Mance a story that would make him buy Jon’s support, and that’s exactly what he does.
Tumblr media
Now, for much of season 7 once Jon meets with D*enerys, it almost feels as if we get shut out from his thought process. Some people have speculated that in the books, at least during his time with D*enerys, we’re likely to not be given his POV chapters as well. But as pointed out by @thelawyerthatwaspromised in their data analysis of diction and the amount of dialogue Jon has, it’s not that Jon is a silent person, he speaks just as much as anybody, he just does significantly less speaking when around D*enerys. Almost as if he’s wary of his words, and is trying to figure her out.
The only time we see Jon speak freely without trying to keep up with seeming courteous is when he asks Missandei about her relationship with D*enerys, in terms of whether or not she’d let her go back to Naath if she wanted. And what does he say to her?
“You believe that?”
It shows that despite what he’s heard about D*enerys, he still questions how reliable of a source Missandei is. And truly, once you think about it, does she really have a choice? I want to believe D*enerys would allow her, and Grey Worm, and her other unsullied/dothraki army to leave if they want to but part of me doubts it just as much. We’ve seen how absolute loyalty is something D*enerys expects from her followers, Varys is threatened to be burned alive if he ever so much as thinks about the good of the realm being something D*enerys can no longer offer, and Tyrion’s loyalty has constantly been questioned this season as well. It is an occurring theme. In fact at this point, she no longer cares if the people want to follow her, they only have one choice: bend the knee or die. Way to go you feminist icon facist.
Tumblr media
So the question here is, what is the new and better world D*enerys T*rgaryen wants to build, and can she achieve that? I stumbled across a quote @shinynewrevulsions shared yesterday, by GRRM:
“Dragons are the nuclear deterrent, and only D*enerys T*rgaryen has them, which in some ways makes her the most powerful person in the world. But is that sufficient? These are the kind of issues I’m trying to explore. The United States right now has the ability to destroy the world with our nuclear arsenal, but that doesn’t mean we can achieve specific geopolitical goals. Power is more subtle than that. You can have the power to destroy, but it doesn’t give you the power to reform, or improve, or build.” -  George R. R. Martin, 2011 Vulture magazine interview, quoted in Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists
Moreover, the real question is, what little has Jon seen of her, and does he truly believe that she deserves the throne?
He sees her unwillingness to put aside her quest for the throne and help save the North(who will be attacked by the real threat first) in the cave scene, because for some reason, it doesn’t matter if the North is under attack, they aren’t worth saving unless they’re her people.
He witnessed her little temper tantrum on the beach, humiliating Tyrion and questioning his loyalty in front of her people. Jon and Sansa may disagree from time to time but at least Jon has the sense to talk to her afterwards in private.
She comes back after ambushing an army with her nuclear weapons, telling him she has less enemies now, to which even she notices, “you're not sure how you feel about that.”
And even after seeing the threat, as @nutellaninja0001 pointed out, she still insists on that truce with Cersei, examine 7x06 where she says she doesn’t regret the trip beyond the wall:
Tumblr media
now contrast that with 7x07 when she realises Cersei wasn’t willing to call a truce:
Tumblr media
In the span of 7x06 to 7x07 we’re presented and reminded that D*enerys will always put the throne first before the lives of other people. Her saviour act where she swoops in in white(the only time she isn’t wearing black and red - embracing more of her Targaryen roots), like the angelic messiah the show wants us to see her as, would not have happened if she wasn’t already smitten with Jon.
Tumblr media
She may have had a good heart once before, but Viserys did too, until his ambitions got the better of him. And who do we know is beginning to dress like Viserys? D*enerys.
I hold the opinion that the ASOIAF series sheds light on the corruption that befalls characters who strive for power. We see it happen with Viserys, and again with Stannis. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
So, no, I don’t favour the notion that Jon falls into bed with her because of her good heart, because nothing from what we’ve seen unfold on screen truly supports that. The number one criticism was the lack of chemistry, and while that is subjective, the show has an obligation to make sure we as an audience, get to see this relationship build up to b*atbang. That means shared smiles, maybe some teasing and banter, not other characters butting in to say “hey I saw you look at her tits haha” or “pshh he looks at you like all the time girl he’s so into you!” The fact remains, the majority of us don’t feel as if it was deserved.
What I do see, is Jon beginning to play the game. He has to. He’s this far into the story, it’s time. I’ve seen so many people get disgusted at this idea of Jon manipulating D*nerys into fully committing to the cause. But can you blame him? She tells him:
“I can’t forget what I saw North of the wall, and I can’t pretend Cersei wont take back half the country the moment I march North.”
And I think some part of him has been trying to manipulate convince her for a while. Take a look at the way Jon tries to get her attention, as pointed out by @tiny-little-bird:
Tumblr media
it parallels the way Sansa gets his attention:
Tumblr media
Jon knows how receptive he is when Sansa pulls the good ole arm grab:
Tumblr media
and he pulls the same move on D*enerys:
Tumblr media
grabbing her arm, guiding her to what he wants her to see, to convince her to see where he’s coming from - much like what Sansa does with Jon(both instances, were to get him to listen to her). Jon is learning.
I don’t doubt that Jon is still honourable, I keep seeing Jon Snow/J*nerys stans argue he would never do this and to that, all I have to say is:
“You will have little joy of your command, but I think you have the strength in you to do the things that must be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy and let the man be born.” - Jon II, A Dance With Dragons.
You need to fully grasp what his motives are from every angle to try to understand why he does what he does. Jon knows the real threat is the Night King, but he’s also seen what D*enerys’ weapons of mass destruction dragons can do. She burns her enemies, that much is clear to Jon.
So what motivates him? Who does he fight for? The living, yes, but what else? What elicits a response from him more primal than others?
Tumblr media
up to this point, it’s been Sansa. Whether or not you ship Jonsa or see them as merely platonic half-siblings, there is no denying that one of Jon’s top priorities is protecting Sansa - the only family he has left.
Tumblr media
And the stakes are raised, when he learns that Bran and Arya are back at Winterfell. He has even more to fight for, even more people to protect. And what does he say?
“I thought Arya was dead. I thought Bran was dead.”
Did you, Jon? Because I thought Sansa convinced you to fight to reclaim Winterfell because it was their homes too, wherever they are. Continuity error or not, this was another chance for Jon to open up to D*enerys, much like she has been doing. But he doesn’t. He never opens up to her, not of uncle Benjen, not of the other brothers he’s lost. Why?
Whether or not you believe in the theory that Jon’s been manipulating her, killing the boy Jon Snow and letting the man be born is expected of his character. It almost becomes his own mantra whenever he’s faced with a difficult decision. He needs her to commit to his cause, because it’s the only threat that truly matters and D*enerys comes off as selfish for not committing herself to it completely already after witnessing the Night King herself. He’s tried everything else, taking advantage of her feelings for him to ensure his people live is something that’s necessary at this point. And guess what?
Tumblr media
Lastly, I leave you with a quote GRRM said about death:
“All that time I thought Gandalf was dead, and now he’s back and now he’s Gandalf the White. And, ehh, he’s more or less the same as always, except he’s more powerful. It always felt a little bit like a cheat to me. And as I got older and considered it more, it also seemed to me that death doesn’t make you more powerful. That’s, in some ways, me talking to Tolkien in the dialogue, saying, “Yeah, if someone comes back from being dead, especially if they suffer a violent, traumatic death, they’re not going to come back as nice as ever."”
Jon’s death has come and pass in the show, don’t expect him to be the same.

Do you think Lyanna ran away with Rhaegar because she felt trapped as a Stark? Ned seems to be more lenient towards his children in terms of having the things they want, like Arya and Needle, he talks about Lyanna's willful spirit, but it seems to have been hindered a lot by her gender, there's also the tale of the hedge knight in ADWD.
Her father sighed. “Ah, Arya. You have a wildness in you, child. ‘The wolf blood,’ my father used to call it. Lyanna had a touch of it, and my brother Brandon more than a touch. It brought them both to an early grave.” Arya heard sadness in his voice; he did not often speak of his father, or of the brother and sister who had died before she was born. “Lyanna might have carried a sword, if my lord father had allowed it. You remind me of her sometimes. You even look like her.”“Lyanna was beautiful,” Arya said, startled. Everybody said so. It was not a thing that was ever said of Arya.“She was,” Eddard Stark agreed, “beautiful, and willful, and dead before her time.”
–AGOT, Arya II
Many people who theorize why Lyanna ran away with Rhaegar – not why he might have wanted her, but why she chose to go with him – focus on this scene, yes. Lyanna’s “wild, willful” nature could be a reason she ran away, or why she didn’t think through what could happen if she ran away. (As well as the fact that she was only 14-15 at the time.) Some think that perhaps Rhaegar told her things that made her believe she’d be free to do as she wished if she went with him – especially since he had found out about her being the Knight of the Laughing Tree. (I assume that’s what you mean by “the hedge knight in ADWD”.)
However, there’s another Lyanna scene that’s also often cited:
“Robert will never keep to one bed,” Lyanna had told him at Winterfell, on the night long ago when their father had promised her hand to the young Lord of Storm’s End. “I hear he has gotten a child on some girl in the Vale.” Ned had held the babe in his arms; he could scarcely deny her, nor would he lie to his sister, but he had assured her that what Robert did before their betrothal was of no matter, that he was a good man and true who would love her with all his heart. Lyanna had only smiled. “Love is sweet, dearest Ned, but it cannot change a man’s nature.” –AGOT, Eddard IX
So it’s not just that Lyanna wanted to do things girls don’t normally do, like fight with a sword, and was trapped because of her gender, but she was also trapped in a betrothal to a man she believed would not be true to her. She wasn’t willing to live in the enforced role of a Westerosi submissive wife, to allow that “men have needs” and bastards are only to be expected (as long as they don’t live with you). Lyanna didn’t necessarily want to be free of the duties of a Stark, or free from the duties and rules of her gender, she wanted to be free of Robert.
Note, the above quote is also one of the strong hints to R+L=J, as Ned’s memory of Lyanna comes while he’s meeting one of Robert’s bastards, a child born to a young prostitute… and in that same chapter, right after Littlefinger lists all of Robert’s many bastards that he knows of, Ned thinks:
For the first time in years, he found himself remembering Rhaegar Targaryen. He wondered if Rhaegar had frequented brothels; somehow he thought not.
The contrast between Rhaegar and Robert, especially in reference to Lyanna, is very deliberate.
Mind you, the fact that Rhaegar cheated on his wife to be with Lyanna (and after he crowned her at Harrenhal everyone in Westeros believed he’d chosen her to be his mistress), and Lyanna died from complications of childbirth after having been trapped in a tower for more than a year, far away from her family… well, that’s just one of those little romantic ironies, isn’t it.
Ned Stark thought of pale blue roses, and for a moment he wanted to weep. –AGOT, Eddard XII

what r ur 2-4 favorite colors and a cheesy quote u like?
Red and pink are my favorites, but I also like light blue and mint green. There’s this one quote from Welcome to Night Vale I like, “Sleep heavily, and know that I am here with you now. The past is gone and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first and settles in as the gentle present. This now, this us, we can cope with that.” It’s good
