Raven isn't just the bad mom/mum.

Yes shes got issues, yes she's not justified for leaving. But she has depth, there's a reason that she left, she's not got the team or the bond of RWBY, that spark to keep it together, to cross the last bridge and get to the other side. To her that river is uncrossable. She doesn't see the bigger picture because she feels that it's just her against it all, and frankly she might be right, any pragmatic or even just logic person can't see a way out here. Oz for all his faults is a smart guy with a lot of time, even he can't see how to beat Salem. So what hope does raven have?

She comes from a place of care and wanting to help she just struggles to see past her own self, something a lot of people struggle with, doesn't make her, just a bad person. Is it bad what she did? Yes. But there's more complexity than just, Shit Mom.
